hi love! i am working on a full-length fic where this is literally the entire plot omgomgomg, i'll post a little snippet here!

its still a wip so it wont be perfect but its first person perspective in this part, and i'm thinking of going back and forth between povs to show shig and readers sides equally.

also, reader is fem/afab, same age as shig, and alt. she has a quirk, too (not a healing one either).

this one does include quirks also! but it doesn't get into them for a bit, just a few convos.

i turn my phone back off and close my eyes, only to hear my phone go off again. i sigh, contemplating on ignoring it, but i lazily grab it anyways.

i type out a half-assed response but feel a ping of excitement inside of me. i fall asleep with my phone on my chest, waiting for a reply.

i wake up around 1pm, the daylight searing through my curtains. i feverishly reach for my phone, only to find it flung off the bed. i drape myself off the side to reach it, eager to read any messages.

i flit through the random notifications, only to find disappointment. i open up discord, wondering if maybe i just fell asleep with my phone on, but there's no response from him. i see him active and type out a message, ultimately deleting it. if he wants to respond, he will.

i haul myself out of bed and head to the shower, leaving my phone behind, slightly jaded knowing i was left on read. i let the warm water wash over me, soaking up the few minutes of peace before i exit and get dressed. i continue ignoring my phone until i hear a ping. i rush over to it, feeling slightly embarrassed that i'm this concerned already. i open discord again, expecting a message from him, but it's not there. instead, a string of messages from someone else sits unopened. my brows furrow and i open the dm confused.

hi nic! this might be completely not possible but can we talk about how stressful it is to join a new group and to plot with 14 muns and 30 characters. it can feel like a lot/draining but i want to be in the group. is there any sort of guide you can help navigate this for? idk what im even asking but i dont want to leave something i have muse for because im overwhelmed and if i dont plot i feel left behind

omg hi !!  i totally understand what ur saying here because i get so overwhelmed with plotting it's not even funny 😭  and i cannot lie to u at all:  a lot of the time,  i end up not replying to a lot of plotting messages because i get super anxious that i will like ... annoy them ?  even if they came to me first ?  BUT i think that plotting is super important to feeling like u ‘belong’ in a group, especially in one where everyone else seems 2 know each other !  since i kinda lack in this department i feel like it would be hypocritical to make a guide but i can offer u some advice from my success stories FJAOSDIJFA

get prepared!  it’s hard to develop plots between characters if you don’t know anything about your muse.  have a few headcanons prepared so people are familiar with them!  i try to do three at a minimum (their past, their personality, where they’re at currently).

go at ur own pace!  post a plot call but don’t feel pressured to message everyone that reacts all at once.  slowly work through the amount of people so it feels less daunting to answer dms!  once you’ve got some ideas flowing with one mun,  pop into another’s inbox.

know ur stuff!  step one, read the information ur partner-of-focus has listed about their muse.  when u message them for plots include a little something that u read and enjoyed <3  like “i noticed ur muse is classically trained in music ... mine rlly enjoys going to concerts maybe they met at one!!”

lay some groundwork!  a lot of plotting messages die at ‘would u like to brainstorm’ because neither muns have ideas — and that’s okay!  sometimes u need an interaction or two before creativity sparks.  if u want to avoid this, i think the easiest way is offering up two or three plots u think would work for the muses!  a more general way of doing this is having a list of simple connections and asking if any catch their eye but don’t stop at a title!! like if u both decide on a “friends with benefits” type of plot then dig into it!!! how did they meet ... how r things going ... do they meet up frequently or is it a rarity u know ..

don’t be a stranger!  if u treat someone super formally or smth, i think it leads to messages dying out a lot quicker.  sometimes it’s easier to act like u have known them ur whole life

alternatively, jump into ic first!  i mentioned somewhere up there that sometimes u need a few interactions with other’s characters before the creativity really starts flowing.  instead of worrying so much about gathering plots right when u join,  try posting a little info about ur muse & hopping straight in!  it might help 2 leave a little ooc note that u’ll be interested in plotting as soon as u see how some chemistry plays out first!! 

don’t be afraid 2 say when something isn’t working!  if u have two muses who r simply polar opposites that wouldn’t really hang out ... u do not have to force a plot!!!  be honest with ur partner and say ur having a hard time thinking of something ... maybe a thread or two will give u ideas or maybe those muses just don’t work ... in a group where muns have multiple characters that shouldn’t be much of a problem!!

she came from a pureblood family but her father is more well known in the muggle world as a chief financial officer of some company while her mother owns a wizarding boutique ( something to keep her busy, they’re well off enough that she doesn’t need to work )

was sheltered growing up. her first official foray into independence was moving halfway across the world to attend mokseong

very much a sweetheart but with some [ redacted ] tendencies you just have to get her drunk first

actually really friendly ?? would talk to you or to anyone she manages to come across. 10/10 would talk to anyone unprovoked and has good memory so even if you just talked to her once about the most trivial thing she’ll still most likely remember you

iii. situations for threads !! 

it’s a friday night and you managed to drag her out of the library after she put up a fight. moments later, she’s tipsy enough and the first person on the dance floor. “here i thought you didn’t want to go out??” pls take care of her... or not.. you can both regret your decisions later

your troublemaker muse ends up in the hospital wing to get patched up after a minor accident and she has suspicions as to how they got it, doesn’t pry, but makes them promise to never do it again whatever that was... a moment of vulnerability

she decides to solo-patrol the dungeons late one night and there you were.. waiting for your dalliance. instead of docking points, she decides to be terrible and wait for the person with you. possibly bore and annoy you with conversation about the health hazards of having sex in public until you finally leave

her favourite person to practice stuff on i.e. asking you to sit down for her as she practices taking your blood pressure 5 times, letting her prod on your body with a muggle stethoscope. she tells you that in exchange for all that, she’ll never let you pay her a cent when she becomes your doctor in the future!

as an ever trusting, gullible soul, you were able to scam her into something (be it smth she can try, believe in, or be invited to) and now she’s always hated you a little bit about it
