I’m just hoping people won’t ruin Buddie for me by slapping on BuckTommy. Cause we still have so many great Buddie moments besides other beautiful storylines. Yes i’m a buddie shipper and a great fan of BuckTommy and i’m just enjoying both. The Buddie and the BuckTommy moments, but making all the BuckTommy moments be about Buddie is starting to annoy me.
#sorry#i just try to enjoy the amazing episodes we have#we came a lot closer to buddie thanks to tommy#and i enjoying that ride right now#cause Tommy is amazing as well#and i’m kinda okay with buddie just being friends right now#so just let bucktommy happen for a little while more#and let buddie enter the stage when it’s their time#but please stop hating on bucktommy#and just be happy what abc has given us so far#we could have had the show ended with s6#so i don’t know what you prefer here#sorry for my rambling#buddie#bucktommy#911 on abc#911 abc#evan buckley#eddie diaz#tommy kinard#txt post#my thoughts

Okay, I have to say something about some of us (fans) regarding Buck, Tommy and Eddie. I've seen a lot of people who aren't fans of Tommy for a while now, either because he's in a relationship with Buck or just individually, but sometimes I see some negative comments about Tommy or the relationship he shares with Buck that really bother me and I think it might bother some other people too. Guys, it's okay to like Tommy as a character and root for Buddie to happen at the same time, it's not like they're two completely opposite things! There's a lot going on with these characters and there's plenty of room for a lot more to happen. Sometimes I see a post referring to Buck and Tommy together as if the series was going to end tomorrow because of their relationship. Being completely honest, I've been on Team Buddie since Eddie came to 911. I'll always root for Buddie and I'm very happy when news comes out that brings us closer to that achievement, but I really like the character that Tommy has grown into and having Buck as a character that is very dear to me - I love Tommy's actions/attitudes that have brought positive changes to Buck's well-being and that have led him to new realizations and new grounds. Also, it seems that being in a relationship with Tommy, Buck is feeling like he's never felt before, that in itself is already wonderful, he's found himself with a person who gives him space, isn't toxic, seems to do everything possible to make him happy and they get along very well together. Because of this, I can't like Eddie anymore and think that he and Buck together wouldn't be just as good? (or even better?) (We can also want for it to be better while enjoying things where they're at now, there's always room for improvement) I mean, it's okay to root for Buddie, we've all wanted this and we'll be thrilled when it happens for sure, but along with that we can also enjoy the now, be happy with the development that's happening between these three characters (both individually and within their relationships) while we wait for it to happen. Lou himself told an interviewer that: "he thinks fans who want Buck and Eddie to become romantically involved should still embrace Tommy"
Also, his words regarding Buddie in this video:
“I think that from Season 2, Buck and Eddie have had great chemistry. And has it been more than friendship? Has it not? Does anyone know for real? I think it’s great. I think it’s a relationship we don’t really see ever on TV — two men that are enjoying each other, that are friends, that are sharing intimate moments,” Ferrigno Jr. said. “Are they? Are they not? Either way, it’s two strong men being vulnerable and opening things up, and I just love that, and I try to be that person for my friends. Will they end up together? I don’t know. But Tommy’s a good guy. Tommy’s really got a lot to offer. And you need to shake things up a little bit, because Tommy extended the life of Buddie, because now Tommy and Buck are going on a date and what happens if that doesn’t work out? Huh? Have you thought of that?”
It says it all, I think having a little patience with the characters and with what the producers are creating for them is the best thing to do. That's it, besides, it's okay to like Tommy individually too, imagine when Buddie happens, and suddenly Tommy continues in their lives as a friend, or a coworker, anyway, so many possibilities. Thank you so much for coming to my TED Talk, I needed to see a post like this today and I thought "why don't I do it myself?". Let's keep going! and stay hydrated!

Hi! do you by chance know the buck and tommy theories that are going around and what sparked them? I haven’t been on here for a while but with the show coming back I wanted to see what was going on and I see all these theories about tommy coming back and him and buck hitting it off? Is Natalia not there anymore and is this confirmed? Also what does the buck and tommy stuff have to do with the hundredth episode? Thanks 😊
Hello! Welcome back. I’m sure you’re feeling a lot like this right now 😄😄
So.
— Natalia not coming back isn’t #confirmed, but between her occupation as a death doula (that was purposely for Buck’s 6B story) and Annelise not acknowledging the show since filming started up again…if one girlfriend was gonna go, it was gonna be Natalia
— Tommy is returning to the show for the cruise disaster (unclear if it’ll be the premiere) and staying through episode four/episode 100 overall in which all we know is that the guys will be playing basketball and Buck accidentally injures somebody (because we happened to catch a glimpse of a script)
— The Buck + Tommy stuff…started with me, I guess. People were asking me questions and I was being serious about them instead of treating it like a crackship or like Tommy was gonna be the catalyst for a Buddie realization because I came into this season understanding that Eddie having a girlfriend means Buddie is a no-go for now.
I typed up a post that explains how we got here in the first place. I’ll find it and reblog it.
My asks go into more detail the closer we get to episode 100 (especially the last two days), but if there’s anything you need clarification on just let me know. 🙂

I've always liked the idea of eastern dragons, long bodied and often aquatic in nature. And ever since the movie Raya and the Last Dragon came out, I've only grown more enamored with them.
Then came the idea of the Sleepy Bois with a water dragon hybrid reader. I don't know, I just thought it'd be fun to see Phil freak out about a mystical dragon hybrid, Techno chilling out with another hybrid friend, and Tommy challenging this water dragon warrior to a fight. It could just be me, but I thought it would make a fun request.
And for fun, this water dragon hybrid wields a trident for a weapon, cuz you know, ocean n stuff.
A Dragon Friend - Reader and SBI
GN
Pairings: None
Characters included: Philza, Wilbur Soot, Technoblade, Tommyinnit
Warnings: none
Series: a request :)
Summary: Wilbur brings home a new friend so his family can meet them. To Phil’s shock it is a Dragon Hybrid, just one of the rarest kind of people out there that tend to stay away from society. No big deal really. Then again of course Wilbur managed to befriend them.
Words count:
Authors Note: I am not too knowledgeable on easter Dragons so I generalized it more into the Dragons I know of, I hope this is fine :0
Wilbur threw open the gate that led into the front yard of his home.
Philza was currently kneeling in the dirt as he took care of the growing vegetables and other plants. It was his little hobby to take care of these plants, though he isn’t the only one who took care of them. Technoblade, the oldest child of his, begun taking interest in this little hobby of his as well. Though right now Philza was working alone. His clothes covered in dirt but still wearing gloves that protected his hands from it.
As he looked up, curious why suddenly the gate crashed shut, he could see an incredibly happy looking Wilbur standing in front of another teen.
He had to do a double take as he realizes who was standing next to him. Blue scales were growing along their jawline, sneaking at times into the face and going down their throat and arms. Ending at their fingertips. Philza also managed to spot unmistakably gills at the side of their throat, now closed shut due to them being in the air.
Though the thing that was probably the biggest give away to their nature was the long, elegant tail behind their legs. Swishing around nervously in the air. It was mesmerizing to see the scales moving around and glinting in the sun.
On their back was a shining and sharp looking Trident. The bright and colorful shine alone gave him idea enough of how incredibly well enchanted the weapon must be.
Philza threw his gloves off and walked closer to Wilbur, his face contorted into a mix of shock and worry while Wilbur looked like he just had the best day in a long while. For some reason he couldn’t help but suspect that Wilbur must have done something.
“Hey, dad! I wanna show you my new friend!”
“Friend? What do you mean friend?”
He needed to know more. During his travels he has only met a few Dragon Hybrids since they liked to keep to themselves. It was rare to meet one and he was pretty sure it was near to impossible to get them to leave their clan to follow someone else around like this. Knowing Wilbur something must have happened, then again, he was quite charismatic and has surprised Philza before with his people skills.
Wilbur nodded enthusiastically “Yes! This is Y/N and they are my cool friend! We met a few weeks ago.”
Well, that explained why he suddenly visited the ocean so often.
Y/N took a step forward and gave Phil a quick nod as a greeting “Hello, I hope this isn’t a bad time. Wilbur just told me so much about his family that I couldn’t help but be curious. He just wanted to help me satisfy my own curiosity towards people on the outside.”
And here was the explanation why they just followed Wilbur like this. They were curios and not afraid enough to follow up on it.
“Ah, okay. It’s, uh, fine. My name is Philza. Nice to meet you Y/N.”
It was obvious that Phil was still trying to wrap his head around this situation. It just kind of felt unreal and yet it just made sense. This family and the world were already so Ender damned weird, this might as well happen.
Wilbur didn’t seem to be bothered by his father’s clear confusion “Where are Techno and Tommy, by the way? Are they home?”
Phil slowly nodded “Yeah. Both should be in the house.”
“Thanks, Dad. Let’s go Y/N! You have to meet my brothers as well!”
He then grabbed Y/N’s hand and pulled them along towards the old but sturdy wooden door that led into their home.
Before Wilbur could open it though Phil yelled out one more thing towards Y/N “If any of my sons are too much or just generally annoying don’t hesitate to get me, I also give you full permission to just tell them off.”
Y/N couldn’t give him an answer though since Wilbur just opened up the door and dragged them in but at this point they were used to Wilbur and taking the charge like this at times so all they did was follow along.
“Your father seems nice, even if a bit sur-“ but Y/N couldn’t finish the sentence. Wilbur pressed his finger against his lips, giving them the sign to be quiet. They were confused but begun following Wilbur as he slowly opened up a door to what Y/N assumed to be the living room.
In the middle of a couch, with his back turned towards the door, sat another teenager with pink hair and pink ears poking out of it.
They might have never met him, but Y/N could immediately tell that this must be Technoblade. The older one between the twins. Even if only by two minutes according to Wil.
Now, Y/N was very interested in meeting Technoblade as well since he too was a Hybrid and they had only been in contact with fellow Dragon Hybrids.
Though right now, Y/N was just watching.
Watching Wilbur who was sneaking up on his brother. His hands out, obviously he planned on somehow scaring him by suddenly touching his shoulder. And just as he got close enough to slam his hands down, Techno loudly shut his book.
The next thing Y/N heard was a bang and saw that Wilbur sank down to the ground, holding his nose and crying out in pain. Techno’s hand with the book in the air.
He slammed the book into Wilbur’s face.
Y/N let out a chuckle but more out of surprise than anything. They knew from Wilbur that Techno was an incredible fighter and had amazing reflexes but somehow they didn’t expect this.
“What the hell, Y/N. Here I am on the ground dying and all you do is laugh?”
They just rolled their eyes and helped Wilbur back up. His nose was a bit red but nothing more, he probably reacted more out of shock than anything.
Technoblade stood up with a sigh and turned around “You really think I couldn’t hear you? I knew as soon as I heard your sneaking steps what you were planning, nerd.”
With Techno now turned around Y/N couldn’t help but be amazed by his Hybrid features. Two huge tusk decorated his face, bristle like fur growing along his arms and now they could see that the ears were definitely that of a pig.
As Y/N stared at him and Wilbur was still cursing his brother out, Techno noticed how Y/N’s gaze was transfixed on him in awe.
He raised one of his eyebrows “Uh, hi?”
Y/N’s eyes widened “Oh! Sorry! My name is Y/N! Wilbur was so nice to show me around since I usually stay with my own clan.”
His own gaze fell then onto his brother who just nodded to show that this was indeed the truth “Mhm, yeah. Pretty much, also, I was so quiet! How did you hear me?”
As an answer Techno just pointed at one of his animal ears “I have better hearing, remember?”
Wilbur scoffed “Yeah, yeah. You are so much better than us. Better hearing, better nose and even better eyes, but we non-Hybrids are pretty cool too.” He then looked at Y/N expectantly as if to wait for them to support his statement.
But Y/N just squinted their eyes and took a good second to stare Wilbur down “Are you- You know who you are talking to, right? I can breathe under water, my eyes are better as well and I have a Ender damned tail.”
“Okay, maybe I talked to the wrong person.” He admitted.
Techno chuckled and moved next to Y/N and held his hand up, palm towards them. It took them a small moment to understand but their own palm soon clapped together with Techno’s.
“Hybrid Buddies?” he asked.
“Hybrid Buddies.” Y/N confirmed.
They might only really know Techno now for about a minute, but they could tell he mostly did this to infuriate Wilbur even more.
Wilbur just sighed and cupped his hands around his mouth “Tommy? Get to the living room for a sec!”
“Oh, are you getting backup?” Techno mused.
At this point Wilbur just looked unamused, crossing his arms in front of his chest as he waited for the youngest brother to react.
The sudden sound of rumbling and loud steps from above seemed to be this answer.
“What do you want Wil! I was working on something! Wait, who is that?” Tommy begun yelling out as soon as he arrived at the stairs only to stop once he walked into the room properly to see Y/N who greeted him with a little wave.
“This is Y/N. I met them a while ago and wanted to show them where we live.” Wilbur put his arm around his younger brother as he begun explaining.
Tommy seemed to be incredibly confused but nonetheless intrigued. His eyes darting from Y/N to Wilbur and only for a split second jumping to Techno “Okay? Hello, Y/N. I’m Tommy.” He then squirmed away from beneath Wilbur’s arm, taking a closer look at them “Woah! What are you? You look awesome! Is that a trident? I thought they were super rare! It’s also enchanted! I mean… you seem to be alright, I guess.”
Y/N laughed, more at the reactions of both Wilbur and Techno who seemed to grow incredibly tired as Tommy went along with his usual spiel “Oh! I’m a Water Dragon Hybrid! Also, yeah, I got that trident from my parents as a way to protect myself. We primarily live in or close of water, so, tridents are incredibly useful to us. Also, they mean a lot to us as well.”
They then got the trident off their back to let Tommy have a better look at it. He looked awestruck. Not only at the revelation that Y/N was a Dragon Hybrid but that weapon seemed to really have enamored him somehow.
A dangerous glint appeared in his eyes as he looked back up “This is cool but nothing against me and my sword.”
Technoblade seemed to be bewildered at that “You just have an iron sword what are you talking about?”
But Wilbur put his hand on Techno’s shoulder “No, no. Let him. Let’s just watch.” It was clearly Wilbur’s chaos was getting the better of him and Techno was too tired to deal with that.
“Your sword? Are you sure? Even if you have an enchanted iron sword, I’m pretty sure it would be nothing against a trident, especially since I am very well trained with this weapon.” Y/N seemed almost smug.
Tommy puffed up his chest and placed his hands at his sides “But my father is the one and only Philza and he taught me everything! There is no way you even stand a chance against me! Fight me and I’ll prove it to you!”
Y/N rolled their shoulders “Okay, little one, let’s get outside and fight! I’ll show you.”
“Little one? Little one?!” Tommy repeated flabbergasted. How dare they call him little.
The sound of the closing front door rung out through the house which was soon followed by an annoyed groan “I swear by Ender. I leave you alone for a few minutes and I already hear Tommy screaming about wanting to fight our guest. Amazing first impression for Y/N.”
He appeared at the door, gloves still on this time. His expression pulled down into a strict frown as he looked around at the scene in front of him.
Both Tommy and Y/N were standing in the middle of the room, turned towards each other due to their bickering while Techno and Wilbur stood to the side. Techno had a skeptical look about him while Wilbur couldn’t help but smirk at the argument of the two.
He purposefully didn’t say it, but Y/N was being trained as a full-fledged warrior of their clan. It was their job to keep off mobs and unwanted guests away from their family. Tommy would have no chance against them, but he couldn’t help but still wanting to see it. Besides Y/N wouldn’t seriously hurt him.
Honestly if anything Wilbur really wanted to see Techno and Y/N fight. In Wilbur’s eyes Techno was definitely the best fighter he knew but Y/N was a close second and while he couldn’t understand it, he also knew that those two would probably bond over fighting each other.
Tommy pointed at Y/N “Well, they started it! Just strutting in here with a weapon! I have to protect our home!”
Philza shook his head, already done with his mischief “Is that right?” He directed that question towards the other teens.
Wilbur just continued smiling while Y/N and Techno just shook their heads.
“Alright. Tommy, stop lying and no fighting. How about you guys just help me make food, at least then I know what you guys are up to.”
This seemed to pull Wilbur back out of his chaotic loving thoughts “Oh! That reminds me! Can we make cookies? Y/N never had any.”
Even Techno, who acted calm and collected, looked shocked towards Y/N. They lived for this long with never eating any cookies? Now that just seemed wrong.
“Sure. Let’s make some cookies then. Is that alright Y/N?”
Y/N’s eyes widened “Oh? Uh, yes! I would love to! It seems to be a big thing that I never had any so I really want to try them!”
Excited Tommy threw his arms in the air “Cookies!”
Laughing at his little brothers’ antics, Wilbur joined in and cheered as well “Cookies!” He then followed said brother and his father out the living room and into the kitchen. Leaving Y/N and Techno behind.
While Y/N was excited as well they were still a bit overwhelmed with this sudden reaction right after being threatened by Tommy. Techno seemed to notice this and put one of his hands on their shoulder “Don’t worry too much about what Tommy said. He was seriously impressed by you, but he unfortunately has an incredibly huge ego with nothing to back it, hence the insults and threats. So don’t worry too much about it. Wilbur seems to really enjoy your company and I too think you are… interesting company. Yes, let’s say that. If you are really such a great fighter, we definitely have to spar at some point though. I rarely get the chance to test my skills against other people besides my family and mobs.”
“I would love that.”
“Nice. Let’s join the others. Seriously, you have never eaten any cookies? How is that possible?”

A ficlet inspired by this thread on Twitter, some “Douxie During Trollhunters” stuff I was working on a while back, and my love for Douxie and Jim being best bros UwU
@aaronwaltke and @biancasiercke if you guys ever wanna give this a read (Absolutely zero pressure! Just sharing💙)
Also a big thank you to my good friend @nikibogwater for proofreading for me! ^_^
Please enjoy!

Douxie still remembered the day a seven-year-old Jim Lake Jr. came through the door to Benoit’s, tugging his mom in after him by her hand. His big toothy smile when he exclaimed that it was his mom’s birthday and that he was paying for all of it, even the drinks.
“Are you now?” Douxie asked, handing the pair of them menus. They’d chosen a two-top right next to the windows, the backdrop of Arcadia under a soft orange sunset in full view.
“I helped mom clean,” Jim said. “Like a lot. So I have lots of money.” He crossed his arms, throwing his mom, Barbara Lake, a cheeky grin. His black hair was on the long side and messy, sticking up and flopping in various places including over one of his eyes, though it did virtually nothing to hide his pride and excitement.
“Can you believe he wanted to spend his whole allowance on me?” Barbara said.
“Uh yeah! You’re the best mom ever!” Jim leaned towards Douxie, feigning a whisper. “She’s the best mom ever.”
Douxie chuckled. “I’m sure. And it looks like she’s got a great son to match.” Jim beamed, though a hint of shyness bloomed on his face.
“I’m sorry, what’s your name?” Barbara asked.
“Oh, quite alright. You can call me Douxie. I’ll be your server tonight.”
“Well thank you, Douxie.”
“Mom, can I get a milkshake?”
“Why are you asking me, little man? You’re the one paying.”
“Oh yeah.”
One shared entree of well done steak, a milkshake, and two free slices of cake (accompanied by Douxie’s acoustic guitar and a birthday song) later, Jim caught Douxie by the hem of his jacket after he’d set their receipt down.
“Wait, Mister Douxie I uh…” Jim dug deep into his pockets, rummaging with a look of determination.
Douxie smiled, kneeling down beside him. “What is it, little man?”
“Um, wait, wait I need to...Oh!” Jim smiled big as he pulled a single coin out of his pocket. He held it straight out to Douxie, his eyes seeming to sparkle. “This is for you! Mom said that you should always tip people.”
Jim placed the coin in the center of Douxie’s palm. It was a nickel, a small bit of rust darkening ol’ Tommy’s profile. Douxie glanced over at Barbara, who was gazing at her son with an expression nothing short of pure endearment, glowing with pride. Douxie closed his fingers over the nickel and held it to his chest.
“A fine tip, indeed,” he said with a soft smile. “Thank you very much, Jim.”
Jim beamed. Then he was springing out of his chair, giggling as he gave Douxie a hug. How long had it been since he’d been smothered by someone who wasn’t Archie? Maybe long enough, because Douxie’s brain stopped working at the gesture, as did his arms. It registered more with every second that passed, the feeling of Jim’s small arms wrapped around him and his head on Douxie’s shoulder. Even without seeing his face, Douxie somehow knew Jim was smiling into his jacket. Something welled up in his heart, warm and touched. Douxie hugged Jim back, one hand on his back and the other gently holding his head.
“You’re awesome Mister Douxie!” Jim said as he pulled back, his hands still on Douxie’s shoulders. “Mom was really happy.”
“Hey now, I’m not the one who bought her dinner tonight.” Douxie ruffled Jim’s hair.
“Alright, Jim, Mister Douxie has to go back to work,” Barbara said softly. Jim’s expression fell and he began to wring his hands.
“No worries.” Douxie gave Jim’s shoulder a squeeze, tilting his head to look Jim in the eyes. “Chin up, buddy. Next time you come in, I’ll still be here.”
Jim beamed. “Cool!”
“Go on, then.”
Jim hopped to his mother’s side, taking her hand. When he was distracted by one of Douxie’s co-workers wrestling with a malfunctioning blender, Barbara reached into her purse and pulled out a bill. She slipped it into Douxie’s hand, silently mouthing a thank you. Then the pair were off, stepping back out onto the streets of Arcadia under a pleasant evening.
Douxie unrolled the bill.
Twenty dollars.
His eyes shot to the window in disbelief, catching Jim giving him one last wave goodbye. A deep breath turned into soft chuckling. Douxie waved back.
See you, little buddy.
~ ~ ~
The morning Archie reported Kanjigar’s death, they’d booked it to the canal. The last thing they wanted was for the Amulet of Daylight to wind up in the museum or in some kid’s backpack. Douxie would pick it up and then head right back to Arcane Books. So a brisk ten minute walk later, they were peering down the deep slope of the canal and spotted what must have been the remains of the Trollhunter. A heap of broken stone, just out of reach of the shadow of the bridge. Douxie closed his eyes, taking a moment to honor the fallen Protector of Trolls and Man. Wondering if, somehow, Merlin was doing the same.
“Alright Arch, let’s go — “ Before they could take another step, what looked like a boy on a bicycle suddenly launched over the other side of the canal, suspended in the air before diving back down and landing on his wheels. The boy skid to a halt and turned to holler behind him, up from where he’d come.
“Jim?” Douxie whispered, recognizing that head of black hair and those skinny legs. “A bit late for school, isn’t he?” Then Douxie felt a pinch of panic seize him. He prayed the kid would stay away from that odd pile of rocks.
“Come on Tobes!” Jim hollered.
And not a second later…
James...Lake.
A deep, echoing voice rumbled out into the atmosphere, buzzing in Douxie’s ears. Shock and disbelief struck Douxie like a manticore’s tail. He and Archie shared a look. The panic spiked.
Douxie watched, his heart beginning to pound harder and harder, as Jim faced the stone rubble, slowly removing his helmet. Another familiar face, Toby Domzalski, came struggling down the canal, falling onto his face as Jim passed under the bridge and approached what was left of Kanjigar.
“Do you think he heard the voice?” Archie said.
“No...It can’t be…He’s not…” It couldn’t be. Jim wasn’t a troll. Jim wasn’t a troll. And yet —
James Lake.
The voice rang out again. Jim yelled and fell backwards in surprise.
“That pile of rocks knows my name!” Jim exclaimed, scrambling closer on his hands and knees. Douxie stared, mind still suspended in shock but gut starting to sink with dread as Jim dug around the rubble, eventually unearthing the Amulet of Daylight, its distinct soft blue glow ever hard to miss.
Everything in Douxie wanted him to somehow swipe it from Jim’s hands.
Because not him.
Not Jim.
But Douxie also knew better.
“What should we do, Douxie?” Archie asked. They ducked behind a tree when Toby started shouting for someone to reveal themselves. Made sense he would think it was a trick. Only magical beings or the chosen could hear the Amulet.
Only magical beings.... Or so Douxie had thought. Jim slipping the Amulet into his bag was a nail in the coffin.
“Well...we can’t take it now,” he said, eyes still trained on the boys. “The Amulet... seems to have made its choice….”
In the distance, the school bell of Arcadia Oaks rang out. Jim and Toby hurried back to their bikes, quickly mounting and taking off. When they were long gone, Douxie stepped out from behind the tree without a word, sliding down the canal and standing over the pile of stones. He stared off in the direction the boys had left, his mind reeling like nothing else, trying to comprehend what he’d seen and what it meant.
Why it had to be Jim.
Archie joined him, climbing up on and inspecting the rubble.
“I know...the Amulet doesn’t make mistakes,” Douxie said quietly. “But...a human Trollhunter? And he’s only a child…” His voice quivered, pangs of worry and dread striking his heart.
“It’s...certainly a first,” Archie said, leaning a paw on Douxie’s leg. “I’m not sure what to make of this myself.” There was a long beat of silence before Archie spoke again. “What do you want to do, Douxie?”
What could they do? Was there anything to be done now? That and there wasn’t anyone he could discuss this with, at least who would know more.
If only you were here, Master… Douxie thought, one hand balling into a fist. He stewed in his thoughts for a moment longer before scooping Archie up onto his shoulders and heading back up the slopes of the canal.
“Douxie?” Archie said.
“We’ll keep doing what we’ve always done,” Douxie said. “Watch...and protect.” He didn’t have any answers. But it was done. The new Trollhunter had been chosen.
Something stirred in Douxie’s chest, growing stronger as he remembered the smiling face of a seven-year-old boy who’d tipped him a nickel. Stronger still because Douxie knew. He knew what it was like to be so young and have so much, far too much, thrust upon him. Having his hand and the growth of his strength forced. The secrets that had to be kept, even from the ones he loved most, for their own safety. Pain he hadn’t known was coming.
The loss.
The loneliness.
The weight of the world.
When Douxie retired to his cot that night, he approached the small shine of silver on his nightstand. No, he didn’t have a clue what any of this meant. But what Douxie did know was that he’d be Jim’s greatest ally.
He picked up the nickel and held it tight, a promise burning deep within him.
I’ll protect you.
~ ~ ~
Author’s Notes :
So I imagine that Jim and his mother ended up not frequenting the diner as much since Barbara was always so swamped and Jim was learning how to cook more at home. So Jim eventually just forgot about his first meeting with Douxie. But Douxie of course still continued to look out for him as best as he could. And I believe this is why Douxie saw Jim as family, even though he seemed to have only known him for a short time. In reality, though, Douxie always loved the kid💙
God bless and thank you all so much for reading!💙

Reverence | Part 7
Thomas Hewitt X You
Masterlist with links to other parts
You sat out in front of the store. It was hot today with a lot of sun and you were thankful for the lemonade Luda Mae had made. You sipped it from a old mason jar and pressed the cool glass to your neck.
Hoyt had insisted on you coming out to the store to help Luda Mae during the weekend. Whether it was because she needed help or because Hoyt wanted you away from Tommy you weren’t sure. The last few days had whirled by so quickly. It was a lot of scrubbing dishes and minding an empty store. Even at night there seemed to be some mending to do. Every time a task was done there was yet another one to do as if they were trying to keep you busy. Even at night Hoyt sent Tommy out on errands to check the perimeter fence so you couldn’t steal into the basement and spend the night with him.
One morning, as you came downstairs for breakfast, you overheard Hoyt and Luda Mae talking.
“He’s sweet on her,” Luda Mae whispered.
“She’s an outsider, we don’t know a damn thing about her,” Hoyt said.
You had been replaying the conversation in your head over and over the last few days and still wasn’t sure where you stood with them. Thomas, obviously, enjoyed your company. Uncle Monty couldn’t give a shit about you. Luda Mae kept an eye on you but seemed to write you off as harmless. Hoyt still having suspicions about you at this point felt ridiculous, even if ultimately he was right.
They shouldn’t trust you because you didn’t plan on staying in the middle of nowhere forever.
You took another gulp of lemonade, leaning back in the lawn chair and glaring down at the empty road through the tent of sunglasses. The air hung hot and heavy with no breeze to speak of. Your dress was glued to your body with sweat and all you wanted was to go back to house and take a shower but you needed to prove something.
You hadn’t escaped last week with a clearly injured young man, but that only proved you weren’t stupid. However, if a car came by full of gas would you jump in and leave them?
Hoyt seemed to think so.
His squad car pulled in beside the store. After a moment the engine shut off and he appeared, walking around the building.
“Afternoon, sheriff,” you said, nodding to him.
“Yeah, yeah,” he said, walking past you into the store.
You took another healthy sip of lemonade. He was just jealous you were kissing on Tommy and not him.
You could hear Hoyt and Luda Mae’s voices carrying from inside the store but couldn’t make any words out. You closed your eyes, stretching out under the sun. After a while you heard an engine rumble down the road and looked to see what it could be. As it came closer you could tell it was a larger vehicle, a van or a pickup perhaps. Drawn by the sound of the car, Hoyt came and leaned against the doorframe to the store.
As the car approached it flicked its blinker on signaling it would pull over.
“How stocked up are we?” you asked, your eyes on the car kicking dirt up the road.
“We’d be better off if you weren’t around,” Hoyt said. You rolled your eyes behind your sunglasses. “We could always use more. You never know when a shipment will roll through.”
“Noted,” you said as the car pulled in front of the store. The engine kicked off and two men stepped out. College aged by your estimation. You looked into the back seat and didn’t see anyone else. Two men didn’t seem like that big of a threat in the grand scheme of things.
“Hey, do y’all have a phone?” one of the boys asked, his twang overpowering.
“Not here,” you said, cutting in before Hoyt could speak. “But we got one back at the house. If you buy me some gum I could show you.”
Hoyt stayed quiet, watching you closely. You smiled at the boys and they wore their own grins. The one who had spoken was very clearly raking his eyes up and down your form.
“You got yourself a deal,” he said and stepped inside with his buddy presumably to buy bubblegum.
You looked up at Hoyt, your smile as bright as the afternoon sun.
“It’s not the catching it’s the keepin’ that’s hard,” Hoyt grunted.
“You know Sheriff it’s alright to like me,” you said playfully. “You might as well, I plan on sticking around for a long while.”
“Until Tommy gets bored of ya?” he said sharply. Your smile fell. The idea of Thomas getting bored of you hadn’t even crossed your mind. Angry at you, maybe, but bored? Was that something that happened? Had Tommy picked a girl to keep before and grew tired of her and threw her in the freezer with everyone else? It was enough to make you feel cold despite the relentless heat. Hoyt threw his head back, his whole belly shaking with a deep laugh. He was still laughing when the two boys stepped out of the store.
They tossed the packet of gum to you and you managed to catch it as it arced through the air.
“Thanks,” you said, your bubbly mood undercut by Hoyt’s nastiness. “This way.”
You started around the store to head through the tall grass back to the house with the boys in tow and heard Hoyt calling after you.
“You kids stay safe now!”
You yanked a stick of gum from the package and shoved it in your mouth, chewing out your frustrations on the sticky pink goo.
“Do you live close by?” a boy asked behind you. The gum boy again.
“Yeah, real close,” you said. You hadn’t timed the walk but it wasn’t going to kill them, that’s what all the chainsaws and knives were for. “Y’all from Austin?”
“Dave’s from Austin,” the bubblegum boy said, smacking his friend on the back. Dave had short cropped blonde hair and a stiffness about him. On closer inspection he seemed older than his friend and a lot less friendly. “I’m from Houston though. I’m Jake by the way.”
“Well, Dave from Austin and Jake from Houston, I hope you like our little stretch of highway while you’re here,” you said. “I hear it’s the nicest piece of nothing for the next forty miles.”
Jake laughed and suddenly he was beside you, shortening his steps to match your stride leaving his poor dear friend Dave behind.
“You’re pretty funny,” Jake said. You blew a bubble with your gum, filling it with air until it popped and wrapped it back in your mouth.
“Are you funny, Jake?” you asked.
“I’m plenty funny, right Dave?” he asked over his shoulder. Dave didn’t have a reply and Jake didn’t wait for one. “You live out here with your family?”
You looked up and saw the house coming into view. It was only a matter of time now.
“Actually the Hewitts were kind enough to take me in,” you said.
“What are you a troubled youth?” Jake asked, laughing as if that was a joke. His claim that he was “plenty funny” was looking weak at the moment.
“Oh very troubled,” you said, stepping into the shadow of the Hewitt home. “Drugs, alcohol, sex you name it I did it.”
The lies came easy to your tongue, if it was because Jake seemed like an easy mark or because you knew they’d only have to feel real for a few more minutes you weren’t sure.
“Sex?” Jake asked as the three of you came up the stairs onto the porch. Of course that was the word that caught his attention. You yanked open the front door and propped it open with your foot, ushering them in. Jake stepped aside and let Dave enter first and then hovered by you as you stepped inside. You pulled off your sunglasses and gave Jake a wink. A goofy grin stretched across his mouth. He really thought he had a chance. What a fool.
“Where’s your phone?” Dave asked, clearly more focused on the task at hand than his friend.
“Oh it’s downstairs,” you said, crossing to the metal door to the basement. You knocked your knuckles against, three quick raps to signal to Tommy downstairs. “Some fumbling with the wiring, I know but it’s hard to get anything fixed way out here.”
Dave nodded, accepting the explanation. He helped you slide the door open and started down the stairs.
“Your friend can handle himself right?” you asked Jake.
“Yeah, he doesn’t need me,” Jake said, running a hand through his hair.
“Come sit with me, I’ll get you some sweet tea,” you said with a smile so sugary it could have rotted your teeth clean out of your mouth. You led him to the kitchen making sure he sat in a chair with its back to the door. You took your time tossing your gum away, pulling a fresh pitcher of tea from the fridge and pouring a glass.
“I think it’s real admirable that you’re conquering your addictions out here,” Jake said, folding his arms across the kitchen table. You smiled at him, stepping in close enough to graze his shoulder as you place the glass on the table.
“Oh, I’m not conquering anything out here,” you said, your eyes glued to his despite the motion you saw in the corner of your eye.
“Then what are you doing?” he laughed nervously. Thomas stepped into the room as silent as a mouse despite his size. You kept your eyes down at your victim but could see Tommy raise a sledgehammer over his head.
“Indulging.”
The metal head came down on the man’s skull like a spoon through the shell of an egg. You watched bone crack and splinter as brains started to spill out onto the floor. Jake twitched and convulsed in his chair, his boots dragging across the linoleum. He may be moving but he wasn’t coming back from a hit like that.
Your smile was untamable as you looked up at Tommy.
“I did it!” you yelled jumping up and down. You caught Tommy’s hand and dragged him into your celebration. He dropped his hammer to wrap his arms around your waist. “Did you see Tommy? I brought them right to you!”
Thomas hefted you up into the air bringing your lips to his. It’d been a full week since your shower together and you had missed his touch. After chores and only Luda Mae and Hoyt for company most of the day it felt so good to be in his arms again. You brought your hands to his face, brushing the hair out of his eyes.
“You did so good, Thomas,” you said, kissing him again. He twisted around and suddenly you were seated on the kitchen table with Tommy’s hips between your thighs. Goosebumps rose along your arms as a hand drifted from your waist to tangle into your hair.
A gunshot reverberated through the house. You jerked up, panic flooding your body. You jumped off the counter and followed Tommy out of the kitchen only to knock into him when he came to a quick stop.
At the front door Hoyt stood over Dave from Austin, smoke rising from the barrel of his gun and the hole he had put in the young man’s head. There was a trail of blood across the entrance way from where Dave had dragged himself from the basement trying to escape. You hadn’t heard a thing, but you weren’t thinking about him you had been thinking about Tommy.
“What did I tell you girl?” Hoyt snarled, shoving the corpse with the toe of his boot. When you didn’t respond he pointed at you with his pistol, his finger still on the trigger. “Come on what did I tell you?”
“I-It’s not the catching but the keeping that’s hard,” you repeated quietly. You hid slightly behind Tommy, sliding your hand into his for support. He squeezed your hand back.
“Does this look like you kept him?” Hoyt sneered, pointing the gun back down at the corpse. He fired again into the dead man’s head sending another loud bang through the house. “Well?”
“No, sir,” you said, your throat closing as a sob formed in your chest. You wanted to prove him wrong but you only succeeded into doing the complete opposite.
Hoyt crouched over the corpse and finished a keyring out of the man’s pockets.
“Tommy, get these boys downstairs,” Hoyt said before he grinned at you, his mouth curling into a terrible smirk. “Your little friend and I are going for a drive.”

“You boys are in for a world of hurt! These next few weeks are to weed out the weak, get rid of those who don’t have what it takes to stay on top.” Coach Embers barked, strolling in front of the large crowd of possible players. Possible competition. This was it. This was his time. “And if you think there will be a single moment when you can rest? Think again, son. Now, the lot of you think you’re gonna be some big hotshot and be able to wiggle your way through and keep up with the big dogs! Well, newsflash boys, no measly little worm is going to maneuver their way through this and be alive afterward!” Coach shouted and the field-house was more silent, far more tense than before. Billy glanced around him; the possible players were already breathing hard and slick with sweat from the adrenaline caused by Coach Embers’ speech. Billy knew they all had the same thought. How can I be better?
“Let’s go, ladies! I’m not getting any damn younger here!” Assistant Coach Anderson shouted, everyone rose from their kneeling position on the sidelines, leaving their helmets as they run onto the dew-filled field. The sun barely peeked over the horizon, early morning heat already settling over the boys as they hustled out to the center. The thick water splattered onto their shins, melting down as they moved around the yard lines, moving to get into their positions.
“Alright,” Coach Embers moved to the front, his whistle slinging from side to side, seeming to try and trap the players into a trance. “We’ll start with a mile for warm-ups than we’ll work on passing technique.” He waved for them to go, to start. Billy frowned, shouldn’t have coach blew his whistle? His gaze shifted towards a few of the boys glancing around, they shifted their weight between their legs; antsy. They were showing weakness. Billy found himself smirking, this is going to be too easy.
“Well?” Coach Anderson shouted, stepping forward as Coach Embers snorted. “Get moving, this shit is timed, fellas!” He shouted again as the team turned on their heels and began to jog. Some rushed ahead, slamming their shoulders into each other and laughing. Billy scoffed, they were wasting energy. He ran his tongue against the back of his teeth, flicking it against the bones in concentration. He felt a heavyweight shove into his side.
“Damn, Hargrove, getting lost in that head of yours, huh?” Tommy said with a loud, obnoxious laugh. Billy rolled his eyes, keeping a steady pace as they turned, following the chain link fence. “You’re way too focused on this.”
“And you’re not focused enough, Hagan,” Billy said through gritted teeth. He frowned as the freckled boy kept pace with him, causing Bill to huff. Great.
“Woo, Hargrove’s getting a little snippy! What is that the bitch in you coming out?” Hagan cackled, as he picked up the pace, shoving past a few of the other players as Billy growled.
“Hagan! You’re fucking dead!” Billy shouted after the boy bounding away, he broke into a sprint ducking and weaving between the other boys. Billy growled as his feet thundered against the field, splattering the wet dew up and around him. Hagan was close. He could grab him and easily wring his damn neck. Grounding his molars, he reached out, his fingertips just barely… Catching… Tommy’s sweat-soaked shirt.
“Hagan-” Billy stumbled, tripping and colliding with another warm body. A strangled groan came from the body underneath him. “Fucking ow.” Billy groaned, looking over his shoulder to see some of the other boys running by, snickering as Tommy stood there, an apologetic smile already on his lips. “Asshole.” Billy sneered, caressing his throbbing temple.
“Ha, if anyone here is an asshole, it’d be you, buddy-” the body under Billy spoke, making Billy scoff as he rubbed at his head, rolling his eyes.
“Oh, shut it! It’s your fault for-”
“Walking on a sidewalk? Oh, yes, please sue me!” The guy whined as Billy snarled. Then the voice registered and Billy’s head snapped up, his eyes going wide. This… Guy. A dull yellow beanie doing nothing to capture the thick, brown waves of hair. Bright, large brown eyes narrowed towards him, making his throat tighten and Billy’s mouth dry. Steve. Fucking. Harrington.
“Billy Hargrove?! Are you fucking kidding me?!” Steve growled. He scrambled up and away from Billy, the cement digging into his scraped palms. The girl behind Steve dropped the large box she was carrying to grab his elbow, helping him stand up. and holding him still. “What are you doing here!” Steve asked through clenched teeth. He yanked his away and winced as he tried to brush his stinging palms clean on his jeans. Turning back to the girl who looked unimpressed. “Why is he here?!”
“Jesus, calm down, Pretty boy, it’s been a while but you’re still the dramatic princess I remember.” Billy rolled his eyes, pushing himself off of the ground. “And hey, jackass, it’s a public college! Y’know what a public college is, right?” Billy huffed, as he dusted himself off, cross his arms over his chest.
“Of course I do, I’m not stupid, by why here?! Why not go back to… to California?!” Steve challenged, stepping towards Billy. Billy stepped closer, accepting Steve’s challenge. He set his jaw, clicking his tongue.
“Because Princess, I ain’t got the money right now. But don’t you worry your pretty little head, I’ll be out of your,” Billy paused, reaching up and plucking the beanie off of Steve’s head, ruffling his hand through Steve’s thick and surprisingly soft hair. Billy took a beat to recover from the shock of how nice Steve’s soft hair felt against his rough palm “hair in a few years.” Steven knocked Billy’s hand away.
“Fuck. Off.” Steve bit out. Frustration evident in the angry red blush on his cheeks. Billy leaned back, studying the boy he thought he had left behind in Hawkins, Indiana. The boy whose brown eyes were never far too far from his thoughts.
“Strong language to come from someone so pretty-”
“Alright, we get it, Hargrove. You think Dingus here is gorgeous,” the girl said. As she picked up the box while Steve crouched down to pick up a few items that had fallen from his box when Billy had crashed into him. “Now, how about you go back to passing a pigskin between all of your sweaty ass teammates and let us finish getting him moved in, yeah?” She nodded once, smirking, as she began to walk away, not even bothering to see if he was following. Steve turned to follow her.
“You always such a good bitch, pretty boy?” Billy said, flicking the tip of his tongue between his lips, licking at his chapped lips. Even with the annoyance that followed Steve. Steve pursed his lips with a huff, as he fixed his grip on the cardboard box.
“Why don’t you just go toss some balls, Hargrove?” He snorted, walking away with the sway of his hip, his shoulders sliding side-to-side. The thick curls that had escaped from the yellow wool cage, dragging and just barely scrapping against Steve’s shoulders. Billy glanced to the soft beanie in his head, clenching it gently as he tried to glare at it, however, he just found himself staring at it with adoration.
“Hargrove! Come on, we’re still getting timed and shit!” Tommy shouted from the opened gate, waiting there as Billy blinked, turning his head towards him and rolling his eyes. Stuffing the beanie into his pocket, Billy jogged towards the gate, daring himself to not look back. Not look back at the past he left behind. Just don’t look back…
“Billy, what’s up man? You look like you saw a ghost.” He questioned as they began to jog back towards the team. Tommy knew. He knew exactly what happened while he stood behind the gate, watching the practice while Billy dealt with Harrington. Both of the coach’s voices filtering through the thick air as the two came to a slow walk towards the end, watching as a few groups split around the field, some practicing with throwing techniques, some running once again, and some heading in for the bench presses.
“Uh, no, no, I just… I think I slammed my head into Harrington’s.” He mumbled, fiddling with his ponytail, tugging at a few strands and biting his lip hard. “I’m heading to the locker room.”
“Are you cool? Like, does your head hurt or anything?” Tommy asked, stepping towards him before Billy leaned back, shooting Tommy a weak smirk.
“I’m good. I’m good, just… I’ll see you later, alright?” Billy waved him off, jogging towards the locker room, feeling his heart pound in his ears. Thoughts, memories, stupid… Ideas rushed through his head as he shoved open the steel door. He stopped in front of the sink, pressing himself against the porcelain, his nails trying to dig into it like a chunk of flesh - a chunk of meat.
“What the hell is wrong with you?! You see him one time - one goddamn time - and you’re losing yourself all over again? Pull it together, Hargrove.” He hissed, clenching his teeth together as his eyes filtered across his face; the red blush from his run and run-in settled over his shoulders and face, the slight blood gathered on his bottom lip, the few scars for his memory of Hawkins printed permanently on his tan flesh. Shoving himself back, huffing with the roll of his eyes.
“Pull it together. Pull it together and realize this is your time! This is your time and you’re going to work your ass off and you’re going to get into the NFL and… And…” Billy’s voice died down as the door shot open, the loud rumble of the other’s laughs and chats ringing in his ears as he inhaled deeply, sighing before pushing off the sink again, and walking back towards the exit onto the field. Practice. Just worry about practice. Just… Pull it together, Hargrove. Only, what? Three-and-a-half more years… Well, it’s not likely that he will run into Harrington again. What are the odds?

Ben Hardy masterlist
Part 2
Summary: Whilst Ben is on a job at a collapsing building, he finds out (Y/n) and their son are there and tries to protect them but he can’t stop them all from getting injured.
Enjoy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Whatever, it's fine Ben it doesn't matter-"
"Yes it does, it matters a lot to me (Y/n) because I've never missed a scan before. I want to be there and I want to take Tommy to his game in the afternoon but I can't swap my shift." There was a knowing look in (Y/n)'s eyes that made Ben's expression harden. They had three boys together and up to now Ben hadn't missed any of the scans during each pregnancy, despite the odd and gruelling shifts he worked. But tomorrow he simply couldn't go because he had to work and no one had been able to swap the shift with him.
"You can be at the next one Ben, it really doesn't matter. The job always comes first, right?" (Y/n) quipped back, but her response only caused Ben's brows to raise and his jaw to lock.
"Now that's not fair." Ben's voice was unusually now and with his words being quiet as not to disturb the toddler on his chest, his words sounded menacing. Ben would admit that his job was important to him, it was a vital job that he had been doing for ten years but it wasn't the most important thing in his life. Ben would always put his family first but the point was he had to work tomorrow and if something went wrong at the scan (Y/n) could always call him and he would try and leave as quickly as possible. It was the first time this had happened when they were having a scan.
"Isn't it? You haven't been able to go to half of Tommy's games, it was me who had to leave work to take Billy to the doctor, not you and we were damn lucky my water broke when it did with James or you wouldn't have been there for the birth. I'm not angry Ben because it's just a scan, its routine and we've done it before but we both know the job comes first a lot of the time."
(Y/n) knew she would be rivalling with Ben's job the moment she got together with him and it was always okay because he saved lives. Ben put his life on the line to help others and sometimes (Y/n) did worry he would get hurt badly or not come home at all. But she knew being a fireman was the only thing Ben wanted to do and he was good at his job so she was proud. But the job was almost as important as his family and even though that was understandable, sometimes it did hurt.
"No, that's not fair because when you had your operation I got two weeks off at two days notice so I could be home with the boys. When Tommy broke his leg I was the one who took him to A&E instead of going to work and when you had your accident when you were pregnant with him I left work and came straight home to you. The job always comes second to you and the boys and you know it."
Tilting his head down from looking at (Y/n), Ben looked at the two year old asleep in his arms. Billy had his head resting on Ben's shoulder and his arms curled up against his chest, when he fell back asleep Ben didn't have the heart to put him into bed. He just stayed holding him because he had to get ready and go to work in a few minutes.
"(Y/n) I don't want to argue, I'm sorry but on the next scan I'll be there and I'll take Tommy to his next game in three weeks. Can you take Billy now, I need to get ready?" Ben tipped his head to the side, his eyes sorrowful but he felt a small swell of relief in his chest when (Y/n) nodded before approaching him.
Biting her lip, (Y/n) carded her fingers gently through Billy's hair as she leaned her head on Ben's chest, feeling his free arm wrap around her waist to pull her a bit closer.
"Text me when you've finished and I'll see you tonight." (Y/n) reached over and gently eased Billy into her arms before she quickly pecked Ben's lips. Their gazes stayed interlocked for a few more seconds before (Y/n) slowly left the room to go and settle Billy back down to bed since it was still early in the morning and he was now fast asleep.
"Tommy, I need my shoes back buddy, give 'em here." Heading down the stairs, Ben sat on the bottom step before he motioned for his eldest to walk over to him when he came in sight down the hall. Ben watched with a smile as Tommy slowly waddled over to him, trying his best to walk in his dad's shoes that were far too big for his small feet. When he reached Ben, he stood by his side and kicked the shoes from his feet so they were resting in front of Ben.
Ben's shifts were all twelve hours a day, four days a week but he still had to leave home early so that when he got to work he could put his overalls on and grab his protective equipment. Then when he finished his shift he took longer because he got changed and showered at work rather than driving home covered in smoke and grime. It was tough, but it was Ben's job and he wouldn't choose to do anything else.
"Why are they like that?" Tommy leaned his head on the banister as he tapped Ben's shoe with his toe to signal what he meant.
"So I don't burn my feet, bud, or in case anything falls on them so it won't hurt." Ben tapped his knuckles against the top of his boot to show how tough the material was which he was very thankful for. Ben had to walk into burning buildings and step in or around fires so his boots had to be made of material that wouldn't catch fire easily and that wouldn't melt or burn his feet. They also had to be strong so that if any bricks or wood or items fell on him, they wouldn't crush his feet and stop him from getting to safety.
"Why aren't mine like that?" Tommy watched Ben tying up his boots before he stood up and slung his bag over his shoulder, checking that his keys were in his pocket.
"What fires do you normally walk into, buddy?" Ben smiled, trying to refrain from laughing because he didn't want Tommy to think he was being rude when he was only curious. "Right, I'll see you tonight before you go to bed, your mum's gonna take you out today so you be good, okay?" Ben leaned down when Tommy wrapped himself around his legs, humming in agreement before he begrudgingly moved back to let Ben leave. Tommy huffed quietly, knowing that whenever Ben left to go to work at night or when he got home at night it meant it would soon be his bedtime.
"Bye dad."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I don't like this Joe, the whole place is about to go." Ben spoke into the radio hooked to his left shoulder as he cast his eyes around his sector of the ground floor car park. The fires in this multi-story car park and shopping centre were on one side of the building and it made the whole thing unsteady and Ben felt like he was going to be crushed at any given moment. Ben's team were needed to try and get people out whilst Joe's team were concentrating on the fires that were still going.
But Ben didn't like the feel of this because the fire meant that the building was collapsing on one side and that normally led to the whole thing breaking down. Ben knew that the building was far too big for everyone to get out safely before something happened but they had to try.
Turning to look over to his right, Ben nodded silently at Sammy before the pair hurried in different directions, both of them picking up speed when they could hear the building trembling. The fires on this floor were minimal but the number of cars suggested people might come down here trying to get out.
"Ben, pull your team out it's too risky. Let search and rescue take over when they get here." Joe knew it was getting to a point where Ben's team were going to be put at substantial risk when they weren't designated to getting everyone out. They didn't have the equipment or protocol to stay and act as a rescue team, it was safer for Ben and his team to get out and then help put out the fires from the outside.
Just as Ben was about to agree, he reached out to his right to steady himself against the wall when the building started to tremor.
"Dad?!"
That one word made Ben feel like the building had already collapsed onto him and crushed him entirely. They couldn't be here, not now, not today not right this moment in time. Ben couldn't have any of his family here in this building or anywhere near this place when it was about to go down.
"No, no no what are you doing here?"
A course of curse words flooded past his lips on repeat as he flung himself from the wall and across the unsteady ground that felt like it was going to give way beneath his feet. Ben's eyes were locked on Tommy who was trying to run but he was wobbling. The moment Ben reached him he wasted no time in scooping him up and holding him to his chest, pressing his hand to the back of Tommy's head as his eyes darted around to look for (Y/n).
"Where's your mum? Are James and Billy with you? Tommy tell me quickly where are they?!" Ben didn't know if (Y/n) had brought the boys with her or if she was just out with Tommy and James and Billy were with her parents like they were supposed to be. (Y/n) wasn't meant to be here, she never said she was bringing Tommy here, Ben thought she was going across town today.
Why did they have to be here?
"M-mum's behind me... t-the boys aren't with us." Tommy tucked his head into Ben's neck as much as he could with Ben's safety helmet and his thick florescent jacket being in the way. (Y/n) had been right behind him until he spotted Ben and made a beeline for him.
"Ben, are you on your way out yet? The place is gonna go down any minute, the foundations are ruined." Joe's voice over the radio was barely heard due to the rumbling sound the building was creating and the panic that could be heard from miles away.
"I can't get out yet, my family's on this floor!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A choked breath mixed with a moan escaped Ben's mouth as his eyes violently flew open like he had been resuscitated. His head jolted up before slamming back down against the concrete floor when he realised his body was far too weak and paralysed from unconsciousness to move.
Where was he? He was on the ground floor level, he remembered going down and knowing it was a bad idea before the concrete walls started to shake and the world turned black.
How long had it been? He didn't know.
Was he alone? Sammy was on the other side of the floor, but he might have gotten out when Joe told the team to retract. But Ben was still here... oh God, Tommy and (Y/n) had been down here with him the moment the place started to crumble like it was the end of the world. Hundreds more questions started to circle through Ben's mind but he couldn't focus on any of them other than needing to find where his wife and son were.
It wasn't dark.
As Ben tried to open his eyes and focus his vision, he realised that there was still light creeping into this level despite half of it being collapsed. The electrics would have surely become severed and broken so to have light meant there was part of the walls that were broken enough for the outside to creep in. That was a good sign.
When his vision managed to focus properly, Ben choked on his breath when he realised that he was laid on his side with his arms cocooned around Tommy who was squashed against his chest. Ben was relieved he seemed to have fallen- or maybe he laid down himself, in this position because if he fell on top of Tommy he would have crushed him. And if he fell with Tommy on top of him and something fell down on them, it would crush Tommy first and presumably worse than it would Ben.
Trying to keep his breathing calm and slow, Ben counted each breath he took until he was no longer on the verge of panicking as his eyes focused on his eldest boy. His vision narrowed and he held his breath so he could try and focus on Tommy and Ben felt tears welling in his eyes when he knew his boy was breathing rather normally considering the shock he must have gone through.
A shuddering breath left Ben's lips as he relished in holding his boy before he dared to look around and try to find (Y/n). Ben couldn't remember if she had been close by or a distance away, he didn't know if he had been holding onto her as well or if she had been out of his reach.
Ben's eyes soon latched onto his wife's frame only a few feet away from him, she was also laid on her side and thankfully had her front facing Ben. Even when he narrowed his eyes, he couldn't quite tell if her chest was moving and with the sirens and screams and ringing sounds, Ben couldn't hear how she was breathing. But he was certain he could see the muscles and skin around her neck moving and pulling inwards suggesting that she was breathing. He kept watching her for a few more minutes before he noticed her hand twitch and he nodded to himself that she was alive.
That was all he could ask for at this moment. He didn’t dare let his mind think about what was happening with the baby after something like this, they were only five months along and thinking of the results of this kind of event made Ben want to be sick.
As he took calming breaths, Ben tried to think what kind of training he had received for this kind of situation, but he'd never been in this situation before and his training had been years ago. The refresher courses didn't do any good and the last one of those had been at least seven months previous. Deciding he would have to try and make it up as he went along, Ben knew the first thing to do was try and see what injuries he and Tommy had and if he could move or not.
He slowly moved his fingers, feeling the gloves over his hands were grazing against rubble and gravel. When he curled his fingers into his palms, he knew he hadn't broken any knuckles or fingers which was a good start. He moved his focus onto his arms which he tensed before pulling tighter around Tommy. Ben could feel the burns and when his left arm started shaking, he figured it was a rather bad burn. But nothing broken yet.
Raising one hand, Ben slowly grabbed the helmet and visor resting on his head and moved his head to take it off. He knew it was safer to keep it on in case any rubble fell but right now he didn't want it constricting him. He cracked his neck side to side and felt very little strain there which was also good.
Trying to shuffle his weight back just a little, Ben very slowly and gently unravelled his arms from Tommy without moving his boy very much at all. When his arms were free, Ben rolled onto his back and then removed the thick padded gloves that made it hard to bend his fingers, Ben then trailed his hands over his upper body.
His overalls were ripped, burnt and hot to the touch and when he moved his hands down to his chest he hissed and jolted against the concrete when he felt at least two ribs on his right side that were either fractured or broken. Now his breathing felt like it was beginning to hurt now he was aware of the pain he was beginning to notice. Moving his hands lower, he grazed only his fingertips against his body so he wouldn't apply any pain or pressure to any injuries he had.
His torso felt strained and bruised but nothing major. Moving his hands to the floor, he felt around him for any bricks or lumps of concrete before he pressed his flat palms to the ground in order to sit himself up.
Ben took a moment to control his breathing and ride out the dizziness in his head before he dared to check over his legs. His right leg had a rather blistering burn to his upper thigh and the way it sizzled like he was sitting on a barbecue made Ben guess it had reached the muscle.
"Shit."
He left the burn alone, not having any water or gauze to clean it with anyway, so he focused on trailing his hands lower down his body.
He'd dislocated his left knee, great.
But when Ben looked at his legs, a sound resembling a moan escaped his lips before he groaned and felt himself beginning to cry without shedding any tears. There was a chunk of concrete like one of the pillars holding up the ceiling and it was laid on Ben's right ankle, cutting off his sight of his foot.
For two, maybe three minutes, Ben sat choking on dust and air wondering if it had gone completely through his ankle and chopped off his foot. Without being able to see his foot or being able to see the damage to his ankle, it felt possible that his foot was no longer connected to his leg. But Ben could feel his whole leg twitching and it didn't feel like his foot wasn't there, so surely it had to be, right?
Ben found it horrifying that he could feel no pain in his leg other than his blistered thigh. He wasn't suffering agonising pain from his ankle bone clearly being crushed by concrete, nor were his nerves shooting with pains or his muscles twitching and spasming with pain. His leg just felt numb from the knee down.
Trying to ignore his own injuries when he heard Tommy lowly groaning, Ben tried to turn to the left but he ended up laying back down on his side to ease the pain he was feeling. He gently brushed Tommy's hair from his eyes that were just beginning to flutter open like butterfly wings. He took a moment to adjust and look at Ben before hi pupils blew wide and a strangled breath escaped his bleeding lips.
The eight year old's breathing started to increase and he began to shake as a silent cry escaped his lips making it clear that his memory was sharp and coming back to him quickly.
"Sshh, hey, hey I'm here buddy. I'm here and I've got you, it's gonna be okay I promise." Ben brushed his hand over Tommy's face, knowing his voice was scratching but he hoped he could still calm him down. He kissed Tommy's forehead and continued to brush his hand over his features to calm him down, listening as his breathing calmed down but he started to choke on wails. "I'm here, you're okay."
Tommy reached his hand up and clung to Ben's arm for a few minutes until his wails turned to sniffs and gasps for a proper breath.
"Tommy, baby I need to check you over to see where you're hurt. I'm gonna turn you on your back, just tell me if anything hurts, okay?" Ben took Tommy's hand to keep him calm when he sat up before he gently eased Tommy over onto his back.
Ben felt something stabbing his chest when he realised he'd called Tommy baby like he used to when he was younger and he didn't revolt against the term. It was a pet name Ben used for (Y/n) and all the boys but Tommy started to say he was too old to be called that, but right now he didn't seem to bother, if anything it seemed to reassure him.
Ben slowly let go of Tommy's hand so he could check him over, wincing when Tommy let out a cry when Ben touched his left shoulder which felt dislocated. Ben tried to breathe slowly and calmly to get Tommy to copy him as he continued to check him over, noting that he had at least two broken or fractured ribs and his right leg felt both blistered and broken. But he didn't feel any pain around his torso or chest other than bruising which was a good sign that he might not have any internal injuries.
"Okay, I'm gonna sit you up, put your shoulder in place and then sort out my knee, okay?"
"Daddy don't... i-it's okay please-"
"It'll hurt a lot less if I put it back in place, I know what I'm doing I swear. Count to three for me baby, please." Ben eased Tommy up before reaching around to hold onto his shoulder. He knew it was going to hurt but he also knew leaving it out of its socket would be a bad idea if they had to get themselves out of here because he could catch his shoulder and make it worse.
"O-one... two-" Tommy cut himself off with a piercing scream when Ben pushed his arm straight up and they both heard it popping back into its socket. It was better to do it when he wasn't expecting it and get it over with.
"Good lad, now you just sit there for a minute, okay?"
Placing one hand on his left thigh, Ben held his lower leg with the other hand and closed his eyes for a few seconds as he calmed himself down. He'd done this before with someone else's knee, but not to himself. But he couldn't move or bend his knee if it was popped out of the joint and at some point he needed to check on his shattered ankle. Drawing in a deep breath through gritted teeth, Ben opened his eyes, focusing his gaze on his knee as he held his breath deep in his lungs.
One... two... three.
Curse words flowed freely from his chapped lips along with a scream of pain when he heard the sickening pop telling him that he'd done it.
Turning his head, Ben looked over at Tommy who was cringing from the scene and the sound he just witnessed and tears were now streaking down his face that was covered in grime and dust. But when Tommy moved his head and caught sight of (Y/n), Ben's voice caused him to quickly look back at his dad.
"Hey, eyes over here. Your mum's okay, she's just unconscious like we were a bit ago. When I sort my foot out, I'm gonna go and make sure she's okay and then we'll get out of here, it's gonna be fine I swear." Ben didn't want Tommy to sit and stare at (Y/n) because he would upset himself and convince himself that she wasn't okay. Ben didn't want Tommy to torture himself looking at (Y/n) knowing that he couldn't help, nor did he want Tommy to go and sit with her in case she had any injuries that he would be able to see.
Pressing his hand under his knee, Ben pulled it until his knee was bent up and he could shuffle closer and bend his other knee to get as close to his damaged ankle as possible. The boulder crushing his limb wasn't too extensive, it wasn't very long in length and it was rather thin which he guessed was a good thing. Daring to lean his head over the boulder, Ben sighed in utter relief when he saw his foot on the other side. He had truly believed he would look over to see a severed limb looking back at him. His foot was bent to the left at an odd angle and Ben didn't have to move the boulder to know that the bone of his ankle would be shattered.
Without even thinking, Ben moved his cautious hand to try and touch his foot that was clad in his boot but to his utter surprise, his foot jerked at the contact which made his ankle move under its constraint of the boulder.
Ben tried to swallow a howl at the sudden agony he felt when a shooting nerve sprung to life in his ankle and bolted all the way up his leg. Now he could feel the pain instead of the numbness. He tried to think what he was going to do and how to get his foot free and as he leaned his head to the side to assess his ankle, he noticed there might just be enough room to bend his foot and slide it under.
"Tommy, can you shuffle over here for me?" Ben cocked his head to the side, watching as Tommy slowly dragged himself over whilst trying not to move his broken leg too much. But when he looked over at Ben's ankle, more tears fell from his eyes and he started to whimper.
"D-daddy, y-your..." He couldn't seem to find the words he was thinking of so he just pointed at the sight that made him feel sick.
"I know it looks bad, but baby I need you to help me. I need you to lean over and help push my foot under the concrete, I can't get it free on my own."
Tommy violently shook his head, trying to retreat but Ben reached over and grabbed hold of his hand. His eyes were pleading, he wouldn't ask this if he could do this on his own. Ben didn't want his boy to see him in pain or witness this but there was no way Ben could bend his damaged foot the other way and push it under the boulder as well as trying to lift the boulder enough to slot his foot free.
"Baby I need your help or else I can't go and help your mum. Please?" Tommy started to shake but he finally relented and nodded. "Good boy, all you have to do is bend my foot to the other side and then push it when I tell you to, okay?"
Tommy turned his head to the side when he shuffled closer to the boulder and Ben could see his stomach churning and his throat tightening like he was going to be sick. He rested his left arm over the boulder and held onto Ben's boot, slowly pushing it like he was moving the hand of a clock into the right position but the noise Ben's ankle made caused Tommy to wail. He shivered and shrunk down when Ben growled through gritted teeth and snapped his eyes closed, he had to try and be strong but the pain was making it very hard.
Moving his hands, Ben slipped his gloves back on before he slotted his hands under the small gap the boulder had left. His arms started to shake and he felt his stomach muscles tightening when he pulled up the boulder before nodding for Tommy to push his foot.
Ben tried his best to pull his leg back but it was harder than he thought when his whole leg was numb to the point he could barely feel it. When the edge of his boot barely scraped past the boulder Ben let it drop against the floor before he leaned back on his hands and tipped his head back, closing his eyes tightly. Now the weight was gone Ben could feel every inch of skin and every nerve pulsing and tingling in his ankle like it was coming back to life and he knew it would only be a matter of minutes before the pain started to arise.
"Good lad." Ben breathed through the words as he tried to stop himself from becoming light-headed.
When he dared to examine his ankle, Ben knew he would be lucky if his foot would survive with how shattered the bone was, it looked like his ankle had been flattened and there was a piece of bone poking through the skin that was oozing blood like a small river.
"Tommy, baby you stay there and I'm gonna go see to your mum, I'll be right there you won't lose sight of me for a second I promise."
"O-okay."
When Tommy nodded, Ben managed a tight-lipped smile before he slowly rolled over so that he was resting on his front. He knew it would be easier to crawl over rather than try and stand with a shattered ankle and a dislocated knee, the pain would be too intense to bear. As Ben started crawling over to (Y/n), he started to wonder how long it would be before search and rescue got here and got them out.
There were countless other people trapped here who needed to escape but Ben was praying that since they were on the ground floor, they would be seen to quicker.
They needed help.
Taste of Metal - Chapter 8: A Lecture on Trespassers
AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/26157634/chapters/65517814
Summary: What if the overwhelming VR experience Gordon went through, had a deeper purpose than just being a simple simulation & a freelance debug job for him?
But most importantly- what if Gordon Freeman listens to Metal & used to be in a band? aka. the “Metalhead Gordon AU”
- - -
Gordon had to admit that it had been a while since he organized such a big breakfast. It brought his years at MIT back to mind where he and his roommates somehow collectively managed to keep each other on their feet, food included.
But his worries over the possible mediocrity of what he, Dr Coomer and Bubby might have created - with him being the only one who had actual physical experience with cooking - went right out the window when he saw the looks of amazement and gratefulness at the table.
Despite having said that he needed neither sleep nor food, Benrey had stacked his plate with a bit of everything that had been brought on the table. If he had been any other person, Gordon would have been concerned. But it was likely that everyone at the table either hadn’t had a proper meal in quite a while or had never had the chance to have one before.
So when Benrey was carefully layering a pancake with ham, a fried egg, cheese and peanut butter, Gordon just watched with a soft amused smile.
Meanwhile, Tommy was losing his mind over the concept of Nutella-Banana toast.
“I-I can’t believe I missed out on this! They never had anything like this at the Black Mesa cafeteria!”
Gordon chuckled.
“Doesn’t surprise me, bud. But now you can have that every day if you want.”, he added with an assuring smile.
Tommy nodded in excitement, already in the process of making another Nutella-covered toast, exchanging his left-over banana slices for Darnold’s strawberries.
Darnold added the banana to his honey wheat cereal in thought, then looked up to meet Gordon’s gaze.
“Apologies in advance for prying, Gordon… but I do have a question, If you don’t mind.”
Gordon blinked over the edge of his mug, cutting the sip of hot cacao short.
“Sure, man! What’s up?”
“Well… I recalled your reaction from last night when Bubby talked about exploring the world outside. You seemed… alarmed. Why?”
Gordon set his mug down, brows furrowed as he looked at his plate. He figured he’d have to tell the Science Team about the outside world eventually...
“It isn’t as safe as you’d think, guys.”
“No place is ‘safe’, Gordon.”, Bubby scoffed while cutting his omelette into bite-sized pieces.
“I am aware, but this is… simulation levels of ‘not safe’.”, Gordon clarified.
“What do you mean, Gordon? D-Do you guys had natural disasters recently? We understand! We can deal with stuff like that! No worries-”, Tommy threw in, but Gordon held up his hand.
“Let me… go get my laptop. I need you guys to know what’s going on.”
With that said, Gordon got up and went into his bedroom, missing the confused glances the Science Team exchanged among each other.
When he returned, Gordon set up his projector and plugged the connection cable into his laptop. He let out a sigh, then opened a folder on his desktop.
“Alright, welcome to class 101 of ‘Gordon explains what the fuck has been going on on Earth that shit’s fucked up outside’...”, he said, adjusting his glasses and getting into lecture mode.
He watched as the Science Team huddled closer to each other at the table, curiously looking at the projection on the wall… but still keeping at it with the breakfast. Gordon smiled softly before reminding himself of what he was doing.
“... August 10th, 2013. San Francisco. We thought it was a 7.1 earthquake at first. Bad enough to begin with… but then the video feeds and photos got to the news...”
The Science Team watched with high attention as Gordon opened up a video file of a news recording.
The Golden Gate bridge was swinging dangerously in clear view- until the camera focused on something else.
Something huge.
Something absolutely massive.
What emerged from the waters could only be described as a leviathan of a monster. It tore the bridge down with ease and almost instantly made its way towards the city, dragging itself through the water completely unphased by the military attacking it with comparably small aerial strikes.
“We called it “Trespasser” since it was the first of its kind we were forced to face.”, Gordon added, his voice sounding heavy with memories.
The video ended and Gordon turned back, facing his friends.
Tommy had his hands covering his mouth in shock, Darnold was holding Sunkist oh-so-gently with horror in his eyes, Bubby was clawing at the table as he stared with wide eyes and even Dr Coomer sat there with concern in his face.
The last person Gordon expected to be shocked by this though, was Benrey, who looked positively mortified.
“Dude, w-what the FUCK?”, he managed to stutter out.
“Y-You say it was the ‘first”? There were m-more?!”, Tommy asked.
Gordon just nodded at that.
“The next one arrived 6 months later in Manila-”
“Six months… that was barely time to rebuild the other city...”, Dr Coomer mused, more to himself than to the others.
“Then came another one 4 months later in Cabo San Lucas-”
“They were arriving faster???”, Bubby exclaimed with horror.
Gordon nodded, pulling up pictures after pictures, playing videos to put emphasis on the seriousness of the whole ordeal.
“It was a disaster… We faced smaller ones than Trespasser occasionally… but the big ones got even bigger over time. We faced several each year until only recently. As you can imagine, Earth is still very much damaged in a lot of places because of this. Some areas are completely uninhabitable because of the acidic and poisonous nature of the Kaiju remains-”
Benrey almost chocked on a piece of bacon-
“You guys called them ‘Kaiju’??? Like, uh- Godzilla? Big Lizard???”
Gordon let out a soft chuckle.
“Yeah… one of the lead scientists behind the research of these beasts is a massive nerd. At first, he only called them that at work to differentiate the samples he got… then the names actually stuck over time in the official reports.”
Coomer raised his hand.
“Gordon, how did humanity fight these beasts? It looks like the military was once again absolutely useless!”
Gordon clicked through his files, looking positively excited to show off whatever humanity's defence system had been-
“So, uhm, before I click play… basically humanity got together and formed the Pan-Pacific Defense Corps or PPDC for short. Within the PPDC was the research division… and that included the scientists and engineers who worked on these-”
What the team saw next in the projection, made several of them gasp in excitement and astonishment.
The video showed a dragon-like kaiju getting absolutely wrecked by what could only be described as a massive robot.
“ARE YOU KIDDING ME???”, Bubby exclaimed.
“Yooooo, what the fuuuuuuuck, man...”, Benrey added, holding his head in his hands, eyes still glued to the projection.
“This… h-how-”, stammered Darnold, staring in awe.
“Oh, that is quite the fine work of robotics, Gordon! Very sturdy by the looks of it!”, Dr Coomer observed, giving an approving nod, “So you used these to defeat the kaiju in one-on-one fights?”
“Well, if we could, we had more Jaeger facing one Kaiju- and yes, my nerd buddy at the PPDC also named the class of the robots.”, Gordon clarified with a chuckle.
Tommy perked up at that.
“That man is your friend, Gordon? Can we meet him?”
“Well, I haven’t talked to Newton in quite some time… and not with Hermann either… I could e-mail them and ask where they’re stationed so we could meet and catch up? Heh… yeah, I should do that. Newt especially would love you guys!”
Meanwhile, Bubby leaned back in his chair, arms crossed and glaring at the images still being projected.
“So… the reason it’s dangerous outside is that these things could pop up anywhere at any moment?”, he asked.
Gordon made a so-so motion with his hand.
“Not quite. The Breach, that’s what we called the portal to their world, was closed not too long ago… but we still deal with the damages and the toxic kaiju remains...”
Gordon pulled up a photo of an entire coastline glowing in an unnatural blue in broad daylight.
“We call this ‘Kaiju Blue’... the closest comparison I could make is that it’s… like acidic oil-like blood. Basically don’t get near any of this at any point. Compared to it, the Green Sludge back in Black Mesa was just a glow-in-the-dark kiwi slushie.”
That comment earned Gordon a few chuckles and amused huffs.
“But yes… this is the main reason I want you all to be careful when we go outside. The PPDC still studies what the fuck this stuff can do to a human body… and I don’t want to find out what it might do to you guys. Just… no slurping the toxic alien juice, please?”, Gordon pleaded.
To his surprise, the team gave him assuring nods.
“Gordon, normally I would say that you’d be a party pooper… but since we’re all new to this terrifying information, be assured that we will listen. After all, you’re now the specialist!”, Dr Coomer said with a smile.
Gordon’s tense shoulders relaxed at the reassurance. This was a welcome change from what he had been used to from the Science Team in the simulation.
“Thanks, guys. I… I know this is a lot to take in- and please take your time to process it! - but I just… I needed you guys to be aware.”
“Oh, it’s alright, Gordon! I-I think it will slowly sink in over a few days, right guys?”, Tommy asked, turning to the others at the table.
“I’m already done processing… but we need your laptop for more research, Gordon. I want to know more details on that whole disaster before I take even one step outside.”, Bubby muttered before sipping on his now cold coffee.
“Of course! And don’t be afraid to ask me about anything, related or unrelated to all this! Honestly, the more I can help with you guys being prepared for the outside world, the better I feel about our whole situation.”
Gordon turned off the projector for the time being and sat back down at the table.
“And, uh… thank you all for listening and letting me explain? I’m not used to that from you guys… but yeah, thanks.”, he said with a weak but grateful smile.
Darnold reached over, putting a hand on his shoulder, while his other hand was still gently petting Sunkist.
“Hey, know that we’ll always listen to you from now on. The simulation was one thing… but this is reality. I think I speak for everyone when I say that while bantering with you is álways fun, we won’t push your buttons to a frustrating level anymore. Especially while you’re still recovering.”
Gordon simply nodded at that, playing with the rim of his shirt.
Suddenly, he stood up once more, startling Darnold slightly.
“Gordon, a-are you okay?”, the mixologist asked.
Gordon nodded, looking quite serious all of the sudden.
“I… I want you guys to meet someone.”
Benrey visibly perked up.
“Oh shit!- is it son time? Haven’t seen him around so… uh… road trip to go see Gordon Jr?”
“I can’t wait to meet your son, Gordon!”, Dr Coomer chimed in.
“W-Well, we don’t need to go anywhere to meet him… uhm… give me a second, I just need to go get my closet key-”
“CLOSET KEY???”, gasped Tommy in shock.
“TOMMY, DON’T LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT IT WILL MAKE SENSE IN A SECOND I SWEAR!”, Gordon yelled back while he was scrambling to find his keys.
The entire team watched in a mix of judgement, curiosity and excitement as Gordon unlocked the storage closet that Benrey had sat on top of earlier that morning.
They saw his anxious expression completely melt away to make way for a loving gaze as he pulled out something orb-shaped from within the closet depths.
A sleepy chirp-like sound suddenly emerged from what Gordon was holding.
“Hey… ‘morning, bud. Dad’s finally back home...”, Gordon said with the most gentle voice any of the Science Team members had ever heard him speak with.
Another chirp, this time a bit louder-
“....dad? DAD! YOU’RE BACK!!!!”
Suddenly the orb-shaped object launched itself out of Gordon’s arms and flew in rapid circles around him, making the man laugh. He reached out and pulled the orb out of the air, hugging it close.
“I am! Hey, uhm… dad brought some friends over. They are really excited to meet you. Do you want to go say hello to them?”, he asked gently.
The Science Team watched in anticipation as Gordon walked back to the table, arms wrapped protectively around something that was as big as volley-ball.
Tommy gasped softly as he leaned over to get a better look.
A small screen on the orb slowly came into view, displaying a curious little face consisting of numbers and symbols.
Two appendages, seemingly constructed in part out of computer mice, pulled the small being further up as it looked warily over Gordon’s arm at the Science Team.
Gordon smiled proudly at the display of mutual curiosity.
“Everyone… meet Joshua.”
Time for a story - Guilty
“You have put a lot of work into this project.”
“It’s a promising idea,” Felicity replied and perked up her eyebrows, “so why do you sound surprised?”
Chuckling, Bruce leaned back in his chair. He rested his right ankle on his left knee and folded his hands over of his abs. Without saying a word, he watched her for a moment. He was shaking his head slightly, barely visible even for her although she knew Bruce quite well by now.
Looking back at him without batting an eyelid, Felicity straightened up in her armchair a little. She wasn’t sure what exactly to do with his reaction. It actually made her long back to the days when he would have reacted to her presented idea by saying that it was a promising idea though he did think that the idea of their naked bodies rolling between the sheets.
Felicity appreciated the kind of friendship she had with Bruce now too much to want those days back, but she was almost sure that it would make things easier today.
“I am not surprised,” Bruce said with a low sigh, “because I know how much thought you put into everything you do. You wouldn’t suggest something like this lightly.”
This was true all the way. Felicity loved her work. She put as much thought and energy into bringing this company forward as she did into raising her kids or saving this city. She didn’t do any of this lightly.
Felicity narrowed her eyes at Bruce slightly. “I sense a but coming.”
“But,” Bruce said indeed, smiling at how well she knew him by now, “don’t you think it’s a little bit too much?”
Felicity frowned. “Have you met me?”
Bruce chuckled at that, telling Felicity that he knew exactly what she meant. She was known for juggling with several tasks at a time. Managing Queen Incorporated while raising five kids was not a small thing, even in a branch that was dominated by men. Bruce, as her friend, knew even better how many things she really had on her plate.
“All I am saying is-“
When Felicity’s phone rang, Bruce stopped.
“Sorry.”
Felicity hurried to take her phone and see that someone was calling from home. She frowned at that because, usually, when she got a call from home in the middle of the day, something had happened. The last time she had gotten a call at this time of the day, Raisa had called to tell her that she had picked up Emmy from school early since she had some terrible stomachache which had eventually resulted in all the kids falling sick one after the other.
Of course Felicity knew that she never had to take a call from home if she was in any important meetings. With Raisa, her kids had the best nanny at home. She was more than a nanny. She was like a grandma to them actually, the way she had always been some kind of mom to Oliver too. If she alone couldn’t handle something – which rarely ever happened – she knew that Donna and now Quentin were always up to take care of their grandkids.
Still, since Felicity had started working again and Oliver had turned his role as a stay-at-home dad for his position as the mayor, she had never not taken a call from home. Even though she knew that her kids were being taken care of the best they could, she just wanted to make sure that she was available for them after all. She was a mother by heart, and it was the most important ones of her jobs because it was the one she had decided to take even if she wouldn’t get an out for more than eighteen years, even if she tried to.
“I gotta hang up, Bruce,” she told him, already thinking about what was going on now, “so please just think about my idea. Maybe you are in, and we can convince Lena Luthor to join into this project too. Otherwise, I will find some other partners and-“
“I will think about it,” Bruce interrupted her, “and my answer will be yes. Just promise me that you won’t overwork yourself. You already look exhausted, and I just want you to take care of yourself and take some rests. Those are important.”
Felicity smiled. Bruce, who she knew never took a break himself because he loved his work as much as she did, advised her to lean back and relax a little. It just showed how much he cared about her and how his view on what was good for her was so much clearer than his view on himself.
“I have trouble lying back and relax.”
“I know it’s not your strength,” Bruce whispered, “and it’s not mine either. I need to be reminded of it again and again too. I am just doing that for you. As your work husband.”
Felicity chuckled. “Work husband. I like that.”
He winked at her. “Take care of yourself.”
“And you take care of you.”
Bruce nodded his head briefly before he ended the video call. Felicity looked at the black monitor for a moment longer. Soon she took her still ringing and vibrating phone and took the call.
“Hello?”
“Hi, mommy.”
Felicity couldn’t help but smile at the sound of Tommy’s voice. She knew now that nothing bad had happened. Tommy, who had always been closer to her than to Oliver as he was a true mama’s boy, had probably just missed her.
Hearing his voice, Felicity finally realized how much she had missed hearing the voices of he kids too. This last week since Oliver had come back from Hong Kong, she had tried to catch up on all the work that had been left on her desk during the time he had been gone and she had made sure that the kids had at least one parent at home. Because of that, she had barely seen her kids all week. She had basically only seen them while they had ben asleep, kissing them goodnight after they had already found into sleep.
Those days, Felicity hated being a working mom. As much as she tired to deny it, she had to admit that she was feeling guilty for how little time she got to spend with her kids at times. She guessed it was what every working parents felt like, at least if they really wanted to be a good parents.
“Hey, Buddy,” she replied lightly, “how are you doing?”
“I miss you, mommy.”
Felicity knew that she should have been ready for Tommy to just babble out the truth like that, but she really hadn’t been. His words caused her heart to ache. They took her breath and made all that guilt she had tried to swallow down these last couple of days come back to the surface.
“I miss you too, Tommy.”
She really missed all of her children. The decision to have a big family had not been a decision that she had made lightly. Emmy had come as some kind of surprise to her and Oliver. Tommy had been planned for a little bit later, but sooner or later hadn’t mattered at the very end. Millie had been fully planned, even despite the misunderstanding surrounding her conception. Addie had been another surprise, just like Emmy or even more than Emmy actually, but Felicity and Oliver had made the decision to have her even despite the depression she had hit. Felicity barely remembered that conversation, but she knew that Oliver would have agreed to an abortion if she had thought that it was necessary for her to be happy.
All of her kids, even if the pregnancies hadn’t always been easy on her, were undeniably a part of her life now, and she couldn’t imagine life without any of them. Planned or not, prenatal depression or not, Felicity didn’t regret having any of her children. She loved every single one of them, and she loved them all the same.
“I need more time with you.”
Tommy’s words reached right into her heart it seemed. Bruce had told her to lie back and relax which usually meant spending quality time with her kids, but she hadn’t really let that too close to her. At least not until now.
When it came to her kids, Felicity knew that she was more than blessed. All of her kids were healthy and happy. They had talents and great hearts. The latter was also the very reason why they barely ever complained about how much they had to share their parents with other people or the city. They knew that they were doing necessary and important work. It was the only way Felicity could live with spending so much time at work instead of by their side.
“I know, Buddy,” Felicity replied with a low sigh, “I really need more time with you too.”
“Tonight, okay?” Tommy suggested. “Tonight you come home and you will read a bedtime story for me.”
Felicity smiled. Even though they hadn’t had a lot of time together lately, Tommy didn’t demand that she’d drop everything and work and come home right now. He knew that it would be an impossible demand because Felicity would want to do him that favor, but she wouldn’t be able to. At least she wouldn’t be able to without feeling distracted by all the work she would have to catch up on the next day. That was why all Tommy asked for was for her to come home at a reasonable time and put her to bed.
How could Felicity possibly say no to that?
“I will be there,” Felicity said, her voice as firm as possible, “I promise.”
Although Felicity couldn’t see it, she knew that Tommy was smiling all over his face. She could basically feel it deep in her bones because that was how well she knew her son.
“Okay.” Tommy’s voice proved that Felicity had been right. “See you later, mommy.”
“See you tonight, Tommy.”
With a smile on her lips, Felicity hung up the phone and ended the call. In moments like these, she felt like she had no words to describe how much being a mom meant to her. She rarely ever had the words for it which was weird since she always had something to say. Being a mom just meant so much more to her than any words could possibly fathom.
A low knock at the door made Felicity lift her gaze. Emily stood right outside the office, sticking her head in through the door though. She smiled at her.
“Felicity, Oliver’s press conference is starting in a minute,” she told her, “you wanted me to remind you.”
Felicity glanced at her watch to see that Emily was right. Oliver’s press conference did indeed start in a couple of seconds, well, or minutes since Oliver was rarely ever in time. Not even his position as mayor had changed anything about that.
“Thank you, Emily.”
“Of course.”
Felicity grabbed her tablet and opened the streaming service Channel Seven offered. The anchorwoman of the news show was still talking about some traffic struggles that had occurred downtown these last couple of days, causing several accidents. It wasn’t really a secret that Oliver was barely in time.
While it could be annoying sometimes, Felicity was thankful for Oliver’s lateness today. That way, she had time to grab her lunch now and eat it while she was watching the press conference.
Felicity reached into her purse and took out the small lunchbox that Oliver had thrusted into her hand right before she had left to go to work. She opened the box, hopeful to maybe find some chicken sandwiches or maybe that mozzarella pasta she loved so much. Instead, she found something that consisted of lots of vegetables.
Scrunching up her nose slightly, Felicity wondered why she had to be married to a man that loved healthy food so much. She deserved French Fries and burgers instead of whatever this was.
Groaning, Felicity picked some of the food with her fork and lifted it to her nose. She smelled at it, unable to deny that it did smell kind of delicious, before she pushed it into her mouth. Getting married to that man was definitely the best choice she had ever made. Even vegetables tasted like heaven when he was the one making them.
The scenery of the news changed towards City Hall where the brunette reporter that was usually sent to report about local politics was standing at the bottom of the stairs. A lectern was placed on the staircase, just waiting for the mayor to step behind it and talk about whatever there was new at City Hall.
While she was talking, Felicity took some more bites of her lunch. With the fork on the way to her lips, Felicity stilled at what she saw at the top right corner of her monitor.
Oliver was already standing at the gallery upstairs. He was somewhat hidden behind a corner. Most reporters probably didn’t see him, and whoever was standing behind the camera of Channel Seven didn’t notice or simply didn’t care. It didn’t matter anyway.
Felicity noticed though and she really did care.
Unlike most times when Oliver was giving any statement, he wasn’t upstairs, taking some deep breaths, alone. He wasn’t in John’s company either. Quentin, who had used to be there for a lot of occasions hadn’t been available for quite some weeks now because he had decided that it was time to quit his job and retire instead.
A tall brunette was with him. Although her back was turned towards the camera, Felicity knew exactly who it was. Those slim long legs in the tight black pants were easily recognizable. The slim waist was something that Felicity could easily recognize too. Last but not least, Felicity always recognized the hands of women that were touching parts of his body they should rather not be touching.
Apparently, McKenna Hall, the still somewhat new Captain of the SCPD, was trying to adjust Oliver’s tie. She was fumbling with the knot of it, trying to make it look perfect and put it perfectly into place too.
Felicity slid back and forth on her chair almost a little uncomfortably. She was feeling a weird stitching in her chest, a terribly sore and uncomfortable feeling. Her throat had grown tight, a thick clump feeling like it was choking her from inside out.
It had been a long time since Felicity had felt like this the last time. It had been so long that she barely recognized the feeling. She knew it was there, and she knew what it was though.
With an almost hysterical chuckle, Felicity pushed another fork of her lunch into her mouth and shook her head. It was ridiculous. It really was so ridiculous that a new word had to be found for it. It was more than ridiculous. It was hilarious probably.
Once more, Felicity stared at the monitor. Still, nobody seemed to have caught what was happening just a few feet away from all the cameras. All the cameras that Felicity could see were still directed at the reporters that had been sent to report from the press conference. They filmed their reporters while they were probably just recalling some barely important information to kill time instead of gathering some footage of how the Captain of the SCPD was now trying to smooth the wrinkles from his shirt.
As Felicity felt her eyes drawn to it, unable to look away, she quickly closed the window of the streaming service. Staring at the black monitor, she lifted her fork to her lips once more. Before it touched her tongue, she scrunched up her nose and put the fork back into the small bowl though. She didn’t really feel hungry anymore.
Taking in a deep breath, Felicity moved her fingertips over the top of her desk. She straightened her spine, pushing her shoulders back a little. She closed her eyes for a brief moment, and felt somewhat calmer when she opened her eyes again.
This was so ridiculous, and she wouldn’t let that allow her to lose her footing. Barely anything ever made her lose her footing. This wouldn’t do it either.
→ → → → →
Looking at how his kids were helping him with the dishes, Oliver couldn’t help but smile. After they had finished dinner, the kids had all wanted to head in front of TV or upstairs into their rooms, so they could read or play. When Oliver had told them that the one of them who would help the most while doing the dishes would get a hundred free kisses, they had become competitive though.
His kids loved each other, but they were quite competitive. They just weren’t competitive enough to not be fair to each other. It was why Emmy was always taking glances at her younger siblings, making sure that she wasn’t too fast. She even put some of the dishes and cutlery she had dried, to the piles of her siblings, so she wasn’t too far ahead of them. She was actually a little bit behind and-
Oliver’s thoughts came to a stop when he heard the front door being unlocked.
“I think mommy is home.”
That little contest about doing the dishes was completely forgotten now. All kids put the dishes they had been busy with aside, not even caring if they put it to the piles of their siblings. They just dropped everything as quickly as they could, so they could welcome their mommy back home.
Oliver couldn’t hold it against them. Even if there would still be a mountain of dishes to take care of instead of the few things that were, he wouldn’t hold it against them. They had barely seen their mother all week as Felicity had needed to catch up on all the things, she had missed out on at work during the week that he had been in Hong Kong. They had missed her terrible although they understood why she had needed to be at Queen Incorporated instead of their home.
Honestly, Oliver had missed her too. The home just didn’t feel the same without Felicity here. There was just something missing, something that made this house his home.
While the kids were all running towards the door already, Oliver stayed back in the kitchen for some moments. He wanted to give his kids the time to welcome their mommy home before he joined them.
Eventually, Oliver followed them. Stepping into the foyer, he found Emmy, Tommy, Millie and Addie surrounding their mother as they hugged her tightly. Felicity’s arms were barely long enough to hold the four of them close to her, but she did her best to do so nonetheless.
“I think daddy is jealous,” Emmy said with a chuckle, noticing Oliver’s gaze, “because he missed mommy too.”
“Just a little.”
Oliver lifted his hand, showing a small distance between his thumb and forefinger. Felicity lifted her eyebrows at that. She didn’t have to say the words for him to know if that was really what he was going with. After a week of not getting sex, he might want to correct his answer a little.
“Maybe a little more.”
Chuckling, Felicity tightened her arms around her kids for a moment before she let go of them to cross the distance towards Oliver. Her hands cupped his cheeks as she stepped towards him. Oliver put his hands to his hips, pulling her closer until her chest was pressed against his. Their lips met in a gentle kiss.
It was crazy how, even after all the years they had shared as husband and wife now, Oliver still felt his stomach fluttering when he was kissing Felicity the way it did now. No other woman had ever made him feel like that, not even during the kinkiest sex. Love just created more emotions than arousal could.
When Felicity eventually pulled back, Oliver licked his tongue over his lip, chasing her taste. He opened his eyes a moment later to find Felicity’s eyes already on him. With slightly narrowed eyes, she was watching him. It was impossible to say what was going on in her mind, so he just perked up his eyebrows, asking about it wordlessly. He just knew that she would understand.
Felicity already opened her mouth to reply, when she suddenly stopped. There was a beat of hesitation before she shook her head with a chuckle that Oliver wasn’t sure what to think of. The next moment, she was already turning away, back towards the kids.
“Can we stay awake a little longer tonight, mommy?” Emmy asked, looking at Felicity with the same big, blue eyes that Felicity always called puppy eyes whenever Oliver was using them on her. “It’s the first time this week that you are back home before we are in bed already.”
Of course Emmy knew exactly what buttons to push to get what she wanted. Reminding Felicity that they hadn’t had a lot of time this week served as a guarantee to get her what she wanted. Felicity couldn’t possibly say no to it, just like Oliver hadn’t been able to say no to it when he had come back from Hong Kong last week. It was just how they rolled as parents.
“I am all in for watching a movie with you guys tonight,” Felicity said, “and we will start it as soon as you are all ready for bed. Whoever is ready – which means in their pajamas and having brushed their teeth – first will get to decide what movie we are going to watch.”
The kids didn’t have to be told twice. Emmy, Millie and Addie all ran upstairs. They were screeching, telling each other that they would win. Oliver looked after them, shaking his head with a soft chuckle. He was sure that all of them would pick the same movie anyway. He knew his daughters well enough for that.
While the three had run upstairs, Tommy was still standing here. He had stepped closer to his mother, pulling at her dress to gain his attention.
“What’s up, Buddy?” Felicity asked, framing his face. “You look tired.”
“I am tired.”
Oliver perked up his eyebrows. They didn’t get to hear that from any of their children very often. Like most children, theirs likes to fight for every minute they got to spend awake longer, only to fall asleep on the couch two minutes later.
“Can I have my bedtime story now?”
Felicity chuckled quietly and kissed his forehead. “Of course. Go upstairs and make yourself ready for bed. I will be there in two minutes.”
“Okay.”
With that, Tommy hurried upstairs too. Oliver listened to how his son’s steps were growing quieter. At the same time, he watched the back of Felicity’s neck, still unable to shake the feeling that something was going on with him.
As soon as he heard the door to Tommy’s room closing upstairs, Oliver took Felicity’s hand and turned her back around to him. He watched her face, and, although she was perking up her eyebrows again, Oliver didn’t buy it this time. She knew exactly what he was thinking which only proved to him that he was right.
“What is going on?”
“Nothing.”
“Lie.”
Felicity almost pulled back a little at his word. They didn’t lie to each other often, and, at least most times, those were only those small, little lies you told for whatever reason. It was nothing bad. They neve lied when it was important. They were as open to each other as it was good for a married couple.
Oliver waited patiently for Felicity to tell him what was going on. He had time. He knew that she’d tell him eventually anyway. That was just how they always did it.
Puckering her lips, Felicity stepped a little closer to him. Her hand started stroking up and down his chest while she was watching his face. For a second, he thought that she was trying to distract him from the fact that he knew something was wrong.
A moment later, it clicked with him though.
“You saw the news.”
“Yes, I did.”
Felicity’s answer sounded matter-of-factly. The way her right eyebrow had perked up slightly made him know that Felicity wasn’t as uncaring about it as she tired to make it seem though.
“You’re jealous.”
The words escaped his lips before Oliver really thought about them. He hadn’t even really understood them. He had just seen that glint in her eyes and had known that she was right.
“I’m not jealous.”
Felicity tried to take a step away from him. When he wouldn’t let her do that, she just crossed her arms in front of her chest. Her jaws tightened as she bit down on her tongue. Her lips puckered, making her look feisty.
“I’m not.”
Oh, yes, she was. Felicity Megan Queen, his beloved wife, who had helped him to move on from all jealousy he had felt whenever she had been with Ray or Bruce or any other man, he had thought could make her happier than he could have, was jealous now.
She was so jealous. Oliver could barely bite back a chuckle. He wasn’t used to see her like that, and he couldn’t help but feel all the more enamored with Felicity.
Felicity seemed to noticed how delighted he really was about her reaction to seeing that news. She pushed her bottom lip forward a little, looking like Emmy when she was unsure if reasoning or pouting was the best way to get what she wanted.
“I have daddy issues,” she said eventually, defiant being her choice it seemed, “so I am allowed to be a little… pissed.”
“Jealous,” Oliver insisted, tapping the tip of his finger against her nose, “jealous is the word.”
With a groan, Felicity tried to turn away from him, but Oliver wouldn’t let her. He kissed her lips again and again and again, proceeding to pepper kisses all over her face.
Felicity had always said that jealousy wasn’t anything good. It wasn’t helpful. It didn’t do anything but creating chaos and pain. She had always done her best not to be jealous, staying true to her words. Sometimes, she had teased him, knowing that it did weirdly turn him on when she was jealous. Right now, it seemed like the first time that she was really, honestly jealous.
God, he just loved her so much!
Oliver continued to pepper kisses over her face, almost thanking her for being jealous. Weirdly, as many girls he had been with – even at the same time he had hated to admit even to himself now – he doubted that a lot of them had been jealous because of him. Laurel, who had loved him so much once upon a time, had known that he had been with other girls, but she had simply closed her eyes about that. Sara, who had known that he had been with Laurel, hadn’t seemed to care either as she had never asked him to leave Laurel or anything like that. With Helena, it had all ended before it had really begun.
Weirdly, the only person who had really seemed jealous had been Isabel Rochev. She had sensed that his heart had already been Felicity’s by the time they had been hooking up, and she had hated it so unbelievably much.
Chuckling, Felicity pushed him away eventually. She tried to look angry, but amusement was sparkling in her eyes.
“I have to go upstairs to our son.”
With that, she turned around and headed towards the stairs. Oliver pushed his hands into the pockets of his pants, watching her. By the time Felicity was already halfway upstairs, she shot a look back over her shoulder to where he was still standing. He winked at her, and, although she was shaking her head, she couldn’t bite back the wide smile on her face.
Oliver waited until Felicity had disappeared upstairs before he turned towards the kitchen and continued the dishes that he had the kids had been working at before.
He still couldn’t really believe that this had happened. Felicity, his Felicity, was jealous. After everything they had been through, she hated knowing that a woman, he had once been with, had adjusted his tie and smoothed some wrinkles from his shirt.
Fact was that the only reason this had happened was that he had been terribly nervous. The press conference today had had nothing to do with the vigilantism, but it had been the first since he had announced working with the vigilantes. That Felicity hadn’t been able to join him there hadn’t helped either. McKenna had caught up to it and had tried to distract him, not because she was interested in him, but because she was an alley when it came to his political decisions.
Emmy, Millie and Addie coming back downstairs pulled him from his thoughts. He dried his hands with one of the towels before he went to the living room. The three girls had already gathered there.
“Where is mommy?” Millie asked immediately.
“She is reading a bedtime story for Tommy,” Oliver explained with a smile, “so you have time to choose a movie together. You all came back downstairs at the same time, right?”
“Right.”
Emmy winked at him, and it was all Oliver needed to know that Emmy had willingly lost and convinced Millie to not win either, so Addie had a chance at winning too.
While the girls started debating which movie to watch, Oliver sat down on the armrest of the couch and watched them. He loved being a dad, but he was sure that his kids really made it easy for him. They were so perfectly caring about each other as well as people in general.
Eventually, Oliver wasn’t sure how much time had passed, Tommy came back downstairs. He was wearing his pajamas and no socks. He was holding Emmy’s pink giraffe, the one she had owned since birth and was borrowing to Tommy sometimes, in his arms. He didn’t look as tired as he had probably been before. The little mommy-time he had had, had probably served him enough energy.
“Tommy,” Oliver said, “where is mama?”
“Upstairs.” Tommy smiled. “She passed out during reading.”
Oliver chuckled. “I don’t doubt that.”
“I read the rest of the story to her.”
“That makes me very proud,” Oliver told him, “so do you want to watch the movie with the others now?”
Tommy shook his head. “I want to sleep, but mama is taking too much space from the bed.”
Oliver chuckled. Felicity loved to take at least three quarters of the bed. It was part of the reason why he loved to sleep on top of her, keeping her from urging him to the edge of the bed where he couldn’t sleep without fear of falling out. The other, more important one, was that he loved to listen to the beat of her heart as he was asleep. It told him that he wasn’t alone in the world.
“Okay, I will make sure that you will have your bed all to yourself,” Oliver said, “but you have to give me some minutes.”
“Okay.”
Tommy didn’t even question Oliver’s request. He crouched down in one of the armchairs, clutching the pink giraffe to his chest and watching his sisters continuing to debate what movie to watch.
Oliver hurried upstairs towards Tommy’s bedroom. He leaned into the frame of the door and just watched the view he was offered. Felicity, still wearing the rosé dress she had worn to work today, was sprawled across the mattress. Her glasses were sitting on top of her nose askew, looking like they were about to break any second.
Smiling, Oliver stepped closer to Felicity. No matter how many times he had watched her sleeping, it would never not feel special to him.
Oliver approached the bed and stroked his fingertips over Felicity’s cheek. She sighed sleepily, grabbing his hand and lacing her fingers through his. Oliver’s smile widened. Even when she was asleep, Felicity was searching his closeness. He loved that.
Pushing his left arm under her knees and his right arm behind her back, Oliver lifted Felicity from Tommy’s bed. She snuggled closer towards him, seeking his warmth it seemed. Oliver’s smile widened once more, and he pressed his lips against her temple.
Tonight, Felicity would need some time to recover from her long week of work. She would get that in their bed. Right before he would exhaust her again the next morning.
1.0 Of Sarcasm
2010
Pepper Potts stood outside of the ONE and only Playboy Tony Stark's Malibu Mansion on the phone.
"Hi, Mr. Cruise, is it ok if I come to pick up Thomas for a little bit?"
"Sure, need him to save the world or something?" He joked.
Pepper nervously laughed. "Something like that."
She could hear a faint voice in the background asking if that was Pepper on the other end. "I'm close to Stark's house if you want me to drop him off."
Pepper cleared her throat and started pacing. "Yeah, that sounds good"
"Alright, I'll see you there."
"Bye." Pepper hung up the phone putting it back in her pocket shaking off her nervousness.
This can't be too dangerous? He can't get hurt ooh if he got hurt I would kill Tony. She thought to herself as the Cruises pulled up in front of the billionaire's house.
"Hi, Thomas." She smiled at the thirteen-year-old who got out of the car with his backpack that he took everywhere.
"Mr. Cruise." she nodded at the older man in the driver's seat.
"Miss Potts, good to see you." He smiled kindly.
"You too." She smiled back.
"Well, kid..I'll see you later." He waved to his son.
Thomas fixed his backpack straps on his shoulders. "Bye."
Thomas turned to Pepper hugging her, she hugged back as her heart almost exploded her happiness to see the young boy.
He pulled away from the hug to look up at her. "What is it now? The suit? Jarvis? The arc reactor? The cars?" He ranted with worry all over his face.
"Whoa slow down, it's the company." She smiled at his cute rambling.
"Oh..ok." He blushed embarrassed by his rambling.
"We need to go to the office to hack Obadiah's computer to see what he's up to." She motioned him to follow her as they walked to one of Tony's many cars.
"I'm guessing I'm hacking?" He asked her with his blue eyes filled with happiness, he loved to hack it was his second favorite thing to do, the first is hanging out with Pepper of course.
Thomas got in the backseat as Pepper got in the driver's seat. Thomas quickly put on his seatbelt.
"Yep." Pepper answered putting the keys in the engine.
He started laughing then it was uncontrollable laughing then it was a mad man laughing.
"What is it?" Pepper asked amused looking in the rearview mirror.
"Pep said yep." He laughed out.
She started to laugh at his laughter and then the joke. "Oh my god your too pure."
–·–·–·–·–·–·–·–·–·–
They pulled up to the building Pepper getting out of the car. "Ok, come Tommy." Pepper rushed as the thirteen year-old barely even made it out of the car.
"I'm coming," He spoke tripping over his untied shoelace almost falling on his face.
Thomas ran in front of Pepper opening the door for her. "Thank you, Sir," Pepper told him with a smile.
Thomas wiped his nose with his sleeve. "I don't do what Tony does."
She looked at him confused. "What does Tony do?" She asked as they make their way up the stairs.
"He says he opens the door for a girl so he can look at her butt."
Pepper rolled her eyes at Tony's inappropriate doings and the fact he told a kid this. "Of course he does."
"He told him I should do it, but I told him it's not respectful and that he should stop doing it." He smiled at her.
"Good job." She ruffled his hair.
They entered Obadiah's office and Thomas sat in the chair and started doing what he does best.
"Python27>python. exe test1.pyResponse Code: 403 <html> <head><title>403 Forbidden</h1>< center><HR><center>nginx</center></body></html." He mummbled as he hacked the compter for the password.
Pepper just looked at him shocked at what just came out of his mouth.
Thomas clicked on a file named Confidential Sector_004. It was full of shipping tickets of the Jericho missile.
The next file was Top _ Secret Sector _ 016, And It was full of blueprints of an iron suit.
"Sector 16? What are you up to, Obadiah?" Pepper questioned leaning down to get a better look.
Thomas opened another file Ultra _ Secret Sector _ 0XX.
"You did not tell us that the target you paid us to kill was the great Tony Stark. As you can see, Obadiah Stane..." A man in a Video told the camera the other men had guns pointed at a man with a bag on his head.
"Oh, my God," Pepper whispered.
"...your deception and lies will cost you dearly. The price to kill Tony Stark has just gone up." A man beside the man with a bag on his head removed the bag revealing it to be Tony Stark.
"Holy shit," Thomas mumbled, he quickly coped the files on to a drive.
Pepper glared at him and flicked the back of his head.
"So, what are we going to do about this? I know what you're going through, Pepper. Tony." Obadiah spoke standing by the door.
He walked over to a small table that had alcohol on it, he poured himself and Pepper a drink. Thomas moved a newspaper over the drive so he couldn't see it.
Thomas clicked the screen saver button as he made his way over to them.
Obadiah smelled the bottle of what it looks like whisky. "He always gets the good stuff, doesn't he?"
"I was so happy when he came home. It was like we got him back from the dead. Now I realize, well, Tony never really did come home, did he? He left a part of himself in that cave. Breaks my heart." He sat on the desk looking at Pepper. Thomas took a piece of taffy off the desk that was kept here for when he visited.
"Well, he's a complicated person." Pepper lightly smiled.
Obadiah took a drink from his glass as Pepper continues. "He's been through a lot. I think he'll be all right.
"You are a very rare woman. Tony doesn't know how lucky he is."
Thomas raised his eyebrows at what Obadiah said.
'What a freaking creep' Thomas thought to himself.
"Thank you. Thanks. I'd better get back there." Thomas got out of the chair as Pepper followed him.
Thomas grabbed the paper and the drive. "Um, next time I'll ask before going into your office I forgot my password on a game and I remembered that I had it on your computer. And I got a piece of candy," Thomas lied cooly.
"It's ok, tell your dad I said hi." Obadiah smiled, he grabbed a piece of candy throwing it over to Thomas who handed it to Pepper to put in his backpack along with the drive.
"Is that today's paper?" Obadiah asked Thomas who was still holding it.
"Yes, sir." Thomas gulped slightly before nodding at the older man.
"Do you mind?"
Thomas walked toward him. "Not at all, I probably shouldn't be reading it anyway."
"Probably not till you older, plus I like the puzzle." Obadiah smiled.
"Of course." Thomas handed him the paper and gave him a high five.
"Take care," Obadiah told Pepper.
They walked down the stairs at a fast pace almost to fast for poor Thomas.
"Ms. Potts? We had an appointment. Did you forget about our appointment?" Mr. Coulson asked as they finished the last stair.
"Nope, right now. Come with me."
"Right now?" Coulson asked shocked due to there other times she turned him down.
Pepper had a grip on Thomas's backpack. "We're going to have it right now. Yeah, walk with us."
"Okay."
"I'm going to give you the meeting of your life. Your office." She said.
Coulson looked down at Thomas who looked like he was about to have a panic attack.
"You ok kid?" He asked.
"Yep, I'm fine, perfect, terrific, amazingly wonderful, just fine." He huffed out.
"Thomas, I'm so sorry ok when this is over I'll buy you ice cream." She told the young boy who was panicking.
"Ice cream, ok," Thomas mumbled himself trying to calm down.
"Thomas as in Thomas Cruise?" Coulson asked the trying not to panic herself, Pepper.
"Yes." She answered.
They reached the car and she pulled out her phone calling Tony multiple times but he didn't pick up. "Tommy I need you to call Rhodey and tell him what's going on. ok?"
"Ok." She handed the boy her phone as she drove there way into traffic explaining the situation to Coulson.
"What do you mean, he paid to have Tony killed? Tom, slow down. Why would Obadiah... Okay, where's Tony now?"
"I don't know. Pepper called him he's not answering his phone. She wants you to go over there and make sure everything's okay."
Rhodey sighed at all this information. "Ok pal."
"Rhodey, I-I'm kinda scared," Thomas confessed, he didn't really wanna say that to a freaking Lieutenant Colonel of the U.S. Air Force but he felt like he should.
"I know you are buddy just hang on there. ok?"
"Alright Thank you, Rhodey." He hiccupped.
"No problem bye."
He handed the phone back to Pepper who looked at him confused. "What did he say?"
"Uhh, he'll go check on him." He grabbed the candy out of his backpack that Obadiah tossed him.
They walked there from the large automatic doors to the metal door.
"Section 16. Section 16. There it is." Pepper pointed.
She swiped the card on the scanner then swiped it again."My key's not working. It's not opening the door."
Coulson put out his hand and one of his guys gave him a small device, he put it on the door.
"Oh, wow! What's that? It's, like, a little device. It's, like, a thing that's going to pick the lock?" Pepper questioned.
"You might want to take a few steps back," Coulson warned her.
They all stood in badass poses as Thomas and Pepper covered their ears. There was a loud bang the door bolts busted off.
"Wow, can I have one of those?" Thomas asked, both Coulson and Pepper shook there heads no.
They all walked down the stairs Coulson and his friends had their guns drawn Coulson turned around nodding to them, he opened the door raising his gun, Pepper slightly gulped as she grabbed Thomas's hand.
They walked on to the platform in the lab, next to the platform was an iron suit like Tony's.
"Looks like you were right. He was building a suit." Coulson spoke staring at the suit gun still drawn.
Thomas scoffed. "I thought it would be bigger.”
They all looked at him amused before looking back at the suit. Thomas heard something sparking, he turned around letting go of Pepper's hand.
He saw broken wires sparking he walked closer to them. Coulson and men jumped over the railing on the platform, Pepper just walked down the stairs.
She’s My Collar pt. 3
Trigger warning: Mentions of domestic abuse
“It’s been 3 days Riv. You’re gonna have to talk to me about what the fuck happened the other day.” Tommy says standing on my balcony smoking a cigarette.
How do I even begin to explain myself though? I swipe his pack of cigarettes off the railing and light one taking a drag. Tommy raises an eyebrow at my actions, but otherwise is non reactive to the nasty habit I’ve picked up and quit for what felt like a million times.
“I’ve known Kevin most of my life.” I start, my voice already beginning to shake. “He is a few years older than me and worked on my grandparent’s farm and I was head over heels for him. Like I used to follow him around as he cleaned the barns level in love because he was always so kind and sweet to me.”
Tommy just nods his head along and I continue.
“We got married right after I graduated high school and that was when he stopped being so sweet. He found he preferred cuddling a bottle of vodka at night a lot more than he liked cuddling up with me. Then, instead of hitting the bottles, he hit me.”
Tommy’s hand curls into a fist at his side and he blows hard out of his nose. “Go on” he says and I can tell he’s working on keeping his cool.
“When I found out I was pregnant the beatings stopped for a little bit. He, um, seemed really happy for a while and I really thought this was what we needed to be happy again. Boy was I wrong.” I hadn’t even realized tears were streaming down my face until I felt them hitting my trembling hands in my lap.
“He came home one night drunker than I had ever seen him and meaner than he had any right to be and just let loose on me. A neighbor heard me screaming thank god and called the cops or I might have died that night along with our baby. We come from a pretty small town so there wasn’t much help for me to leave him, most people thought it wasn’t their business. About a month later I took every last dime I had, all the clothes I could carry, and left my ring and the life I had under ‘Rebecca’ there and came to L.A.. That was about a year ago.”
I looked down to see Tommy had silently slipped his hands into mine as I was recounting the story that I had hoped to never have to explain to anybody. He rubbed his thumb against the back of my hand and took a deep breath.
“I promise you Riv, I will kill him if he so much as looks at you again.” I’m soon crushed against Tommy’s chest in a tight hug and I would be lying if I said it wasn’t the safest I had ever felt in the last year. Hell, the last few years.
“Thank you Tommy, but I don’t want you boys to get caught in the crossfire.”
“What else will you do then?” He asks quietly.
“Probably pack up and move elsewhere. Somewhere he can’t find me.”
“No.” Tommy says standing straight up. “No you can’t leave Riv we just started being friends.” He paces back and forth on the small balcony while lighting another cigarette.
“You guys are on your way to doing big shit T-Bone. I can’t get in the way of that.”
“That’s even more of a reason to let the guys and I protect you?” He says as if it’s obvious. “Besides, you’re our photographer. Who else is going to capture all the nudity on camera?”
“You know for a second there you weren’t a gross pig.” I try to not mirror Tommy’s face splitting grin, but I’m not that strong.
“Atta girl.” He bounces up and walks in my house as if he lives there and calls behind him “Come on let’s go to the diner for pancakes. My treat.” I didn’t question how he earned the money to pay this time. I knew it was rarely legal.
I double over laughing in the booth for nearly the tenth time at another story of the stupid shit Tommy has done. We’re the same age, but I can’t help but feel inferior in the life I’ve lived. Besides packing up and moving out of town to come to L.A. on a whim, I haven’t done anything exciting. Tommy has had enough experiences for two lives.
“So anyway Nikki comes up with the genius idea to stick our dicks in breakfast burritos to cover up any scent that we had just fucked these other chicks. Cause like our girlfriends couldn’t know right?” He pauses to sip his Coke and pours the rest of his Jack shooter into my coffee.
“Tommy Lee!” I scold in a hushed whisper.
“Let me finish my story. So anyway me, Sixx, and Vinnie are basically fucking these burritos in the back of my van at the ass crack of dawn to all go home to our girlfriends because Vince wanted to fuck a bride to be at her bachelorette party.” Tommy stuffs more pancakes into his shit eating grin.
“Tommy you guys are insane. How the hell am I friends with you lunatics? Mick is the least insane one and he’s hardly around.” I laugh sipping my spiked coffee wincing only a tiny bit at the burn of the whiskey.
“You just haven’t known Mick long enough. He gets crazy too.” He wags his eyebrows at me suggestively “And you get to capture those moments on film”
“Oh lucky me.” I feign excitement and he tosses a sugar packet hitting me in the face. The walk back to the apartment from the diner is filled with just as many laughs as our meal was and my cheeks are starting to hurt from smiling. Tommy has one arm slung around my shoulder while his other swings at his side besides when he takes a puff of his cigarette. Tommy is everything my parents would’ve hated to see me hanging around with, let alone being as close with him as we are now. He had long dark hair, wore make up, and the only real work ethic he had was put into his drumming (that’s not to say he didn’t have work ethic they just wouldn’t have seen it that way).
“Ya wanna know something Riv?” Tommy asks looking everywhere that isn’t at me.
“I wanna know everything at all times.” I joke and he hip checks me lightly. A grin spreads across his face and I wonder if his cheeks hurt like mine from smiling so much.
“You have huge eyes.” He says finally.
I stop in my tracks and stare at him mouth agape.
“Tommy Lee are you making fun of me?!” I shriek and he’s double over laughing at my expression.
“I’m kidding! Well kinda.” I shove at him lightly and begin to walk away, but his hand in mine stops me from leaving him to laugh on his own and we resume walking together to the apartment this time hand in hand.
“What I was actually gonna say was-” Tommy’s grip on my hand tightens and a scary look casts over his features.
I follow his line of sight to see Kevin speaking to the landlord that lived on the floor level. It looked like he hadn’t noticed us yet and I wanted to keep things that way. I tug Tommy’s hand trying to pull him up the stairs to our floor out of his line of sight.
“Oh am I interrupting date night?” I hear behind me. Busted.
“Kevin. Not now.” I hiss not wanting to draw any attention to us.
“I’m sorry did I your HUSBAND interrupt your date with your new fuck buddy?” Kevin raises his voice.
“I’m only going to tell you once dude, don’t fucking talk to her like that.” Tommy growls out between grit teeth.
“Hey nobody tells me how to talk to my fucking wife.” Kevin steps closer. Tommy doesn’t step back being that it’s hard to be intimidated by a man at least six inches shorter than you. “She left you bro. Get the fuck over it and move on.” Tommy had somehow maneuvered me behind him and positioned himself in front of me. Kevin clearly didn’t take kindly to that.
“Listen, dick head, I’m not leaving without my fucking wife. You can find someone new to fuck in a city like this. I guarantee she isn’t the only whore”
And that’s when I hear it, the sound of a fist connecting with a face and teeth clanking together. Tommy is on Kevin before I even have time to full process that a punch was thrown. Tommy had the element of surprise and uses that to his advantage to land a few good punches to Kevin’s face. Kevin’s foot connects with Tommy’s gut and gives him the opportunity to get up and land a few punches of his own.
“Guys please stop!” I’m shouting trying to get them off each other without getting hit. I know there’s nothing I can do physically so I do the only thing I can think of doing. And I scream for Nikki.
Nikki is pulling Tommy off of Kevin who looks worse for wear than I had ever seen him. Kevin’s lip is busted, he’s got a black eye forming, and there is blood coming from both a cut on the top of his nose and from his nose in general. Tommy has a small cut on his cheek, also what looks like a black eye coming, and is bleeding from somewhere inside his mouth because he spits blood on Kevin. Kevin charges at him again, but is knocked on his ass by Nikki kicking him square in the gut.
“Enough!” Nikki screams and a small part of me is scared by the sound.
I don’t bother to make sure Kevin is okay before I follow the boys up to our floor. I race into my own apartment to grab some painkillers, a washcloth, and a bag of frozen peas for Tommy. When I get into their apartment I see Tommy downing some whiskey from the bottle and he tries to smile at me and winces. I gently pluck the bottle from his hand and set it on the counter next to him. I run the washcloth under water and begin to clean the blood off his face. He hisses as I dab at the cut on his cheek and lip trying to be gentle so I don’t make the bleeding start again.
“Hey River, could you maybe not try to get my drummer killed?” Nikki jokes knocking back some of the whiskey. Tears well up in my eyes despite me knowing there’s no malice behind his words.
“I’m so sorry Tommy.” I sob tears cascading down my face.
“Hey, hey shhh” Tommy tries to console me by hugging me to him. “These things, they happen. Hang out with Sixx and I long enough and you’ll be bailing us out of jail in no time.”
“Fuck I’m surprised you haven’t already.” Nikki pipes up.
“This is all my fault if you wouldn’t have tried to stick up for me you wouldn’t have gotten hit.”
“I swung first.” He chuckles rubbing my back.
“Atta boy!” Nikki bellows and we all have a good laugh at that. “I don’t know about you guys, but I could sure use a fucking shot.” Tommy tosses back two painkillers and washes them down with a swig of whiskey offering the bottle to me.
“Fuck it.” I shrug and down two big gulps and pass the bottle to Nikki. He’s clapping me on the back while I hold the frozen peas to Tommy’s eye and pretend I can’t feel Tommy’s thumb rub tiny circles on my thigh where I’m standing between his legs. And I pretend the warmth I feel is from the alcohol and not because of the way he looks at me.
You looked up from the stove as El and Max went running through the house. She shook her head. Ever since the lunch a few weeks ago the two girls had become completely inseparable. You didn’t mind though. El had friends. The boys were a good group of kids, but you liked for your nice to have another female in her life besides you.
“Hey, can you two please set the table!” You shouted.
“We’re on it!” El yelled back.
You returned your attention to the food cooking. Max and El could be heard in your small dining room setting the table. Billy and Steve were on their way over to join you guys for dinner. They would be here shortly.
The past two weeks had been crazy. After that first brunch, it had opened up a whole new world for you and El. On Friday’s, Steve, Billy, and Max would join you guys for dinner. Max’s new thing was to come over on the weekend and stay the whole time.
During the week, the three of them would meet up with you and El at Millies. You and El helped the guys buy stuff for their new house. When Max had discovered your artistic skills she had conned you into painting her room. You helped pick out paint, rugs, furniture, and everything else to make their new home not look like another bachelor pad.
You and your brother were constantly at each other’s throat. He hated your friendship with Billy and Steve. You didn’t care. You had missed Steve. Even after all of the time apart he was still your best friend. Hanging out with Billy felt right. It was like finding your missing piece.
School started Monday for the girls. This weekend you were taking the girls last-minute shopping for some clothes and school supplies. Billy and Steve were quick to hand over their credit cards. That had turned into an argument. You and Jim could afford to buy El her things. Of course, it was a losing battle. All the battles you had with the boys always ended up with you losing.
“Max, will you pull out the pitcher of lemonade from the fridge and set it on the table?” You asked.
“I’m on it, Y/n,” Max said as she came running into the kitchen.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang echoing through the house.
“I’ve got it!” El shouted as she sprinted through the house.
“Stop with the damn running,” You groaned.
“Hiya, monkey,” Steve greeted.
“Steve. Billy.” El smiled.
“These are for you,” Billy said handing over a bouquet of daisies.
“Thanks!” El exclaimed.
“Goober. Butthead.” Max greeted coming around the corner.
“Here ya go, brat,” Billy smirked as he handed his sister a bouquet of tulips.
“You were not in the flower shop today,” El said.
Billy laughed.
“Busted,” Steve chuckled.
The four of them headed into the kitchen where you were just finishing up dinner. You gasped when you suddenly had a faceful of sunflowers.
“For you,” Steve smiled.
“Aw, that’s sweet, thank you,” You told him as you kissed him on the cheek.
“It smells great in here,” Billy commented as he stepped into the kitchen.
“Thanks, it was my Grandma Hopper’s recipe. It’s always a hit,” You said as you pulled the last pot off the stove and carried it over to the table.
Everyone sat around the table eating their dinner and keeping up the conversation. Your phone began ringing. You excused yourself to answer. Nancy’s name flashed across the screen. You went straight back to your bedroom so you could take the call.
“Hey Nanc,” You answered.
“Did I catch you at a bad time?” Nancy asked.
“Not really, we just sat down for dinner,” You said.
“You and El?” Nancy asked.
“Well Steve, Billy, and Max are here as well,” You told her.
There was a pause.
“Nancy, you still there?” You asked her.
“Yeah, how is that going? I remember how hurt you were after Steve pretty much abandoned you,” Nancy wanted to know.
“Steve didn’t abandon me,” You argued.
“Y/n, you cried for days after he left you. You can act tough all you want, but Jonathon and I were there for you when he ran off to god knows where with Billy,” Nancy said.
“Is that what you want me to admit? That Steve hurt my feelings? Fine, Steve hurt my feelings. I was crushed after he said that he was leaving and that there was no mention of me or why he didn’t come for me. But that was years ago. I’m a forgiving person.” You said.
“I understand that you’re a forgiving person. You’re the best person out of all of us, Y/n. But you deserve an explanation from him. The two of you had a plan together for after graduation and he abandoned you,” Nancy sighed.
“Go on and say it,” You hissed.
“I just don’t want you to get hurt again. Of course, Jonathon and I will pick up the pieces because you’re our friend and we love you. But we don’t want you to get attached just to turn around to get hurt again. We just want to protect you,” Nancy explained.
Your heart broke.
“I want to argue with you. I want to defend that Steve has changed and this is different, but I can’t. What I can tell you is that I miss him and I need to give him this second chance,” You told her.
“Y/n, I just think he and his little buddy arent being honest with you,” Nancy said.
“Nancy, what do you know that you’re not telling me?” You asked her.
There was silence from the other end.
“Nancy?” You said.
“Listen, I won’t be the one to tell you. I can’t be. If Steve cares about you like he says he does then he needs to be honest with you. You need to make him be honest with you. Don’t let him and his little friend shrug you off,” Nancy said.
“Okay,” You told her.
“Promise me that you’ll annoy him into telling you the truth,” Nancy said.
“I promise,” You said.
She let out a sigh of relief. “Good, are we still on for coffee Monday after you drop El off at school?”
“I’ll be there,” You said.
“Alright, well call me if you need anything,” Nancy said.
“I will. Bye,” You hung up your phone and sat on the edge of your bed for several long minutes.
You looked up when your bedroom door pushed open. El poked her head in the room.
“Are you okay?” El asked.
“Yeah, I’m fine,” You lied.
“You’ve been gone for a long time,” El pointed out.
“I know. It was an important call,” You told her.
She furrowed her brows together. “Is everything okay?”
“Everything is fine. Come on you can help me with dessert,” You told her.
She smiled and followed you to the kitchen. Max, Steve, and Billy were cleaning off the table. Billy started the hot water and loaded the sink while Steve and Max worked together to take care of the leftover food. El placed your untouched plate in the microwave knowing that you would heat it up later.
The rest of the night went smoothly. After a few movies, Billy and Steve were on their way back home. Max and El were sound asleep on the floor. You’d have to get them up early in the morning so you could get a good start on your day. You left the girls in the living room and headed towards your bedroom.
You had to send a text to Steve and address your concerns with him about him and Billy hiding something from you.
Tossing down your phone, you disappeared into your bathroom to get ready. You didn’t get any answers out of Steve. You weren’t really that surprised. Something serious was going on. Especially, if Nancy was bringing it up and pointing it out to you that there was something fishy going on.
Coming out of your bathroom you went back out to check on the girls one last time. They must have got up when you were getting around for bed as they had left the living room and had curled up in El’s bed for the night. You closed El’s door before heading back down to your own room for the night.
Sighing, you flopped down on your bed. Your phone began to buzz and you could see that it was your brother. You knew he was calling to wish a good night to El, but you ignored his call. Rolling over, you turned off your bedside lamp and then crawled underneath the covers. There was a lot going on now. A lot of secrets going around and you were determined to uncover them all.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The dark room had a small lamp in the corner. Billy stood with his arms crossed over his chest. A smile crept onto his face as he watched Steve’s hand pull back for the fourth time before crashing into the man’s face. Blood sprayed from the man’s mouth and Billy heard the sickening crunch of the man’s nose breaking.
“You had one job, Marcus,”
“I know,” The man cried out.
Neither of them looked behind them when the door to the room opened. Soft footsteps padded across the floor as Tommy came over to stand next to Billy.
“How has your week been going?” Billy asked.
Steve walked over to the table in the corner and started messing around with the equipment.
“Fine, the girls are keeping busy with school. Y/n spends most of her time at work. But we do have an issue,” Tommy said.
“And what’s that?” Steve asked as he picked something up to look at it a little bit closer.
“Besides keeping an eye on the girls I’ve been checking out the police station,” Tommy began.
“We have eyes on Hopper,” Billy pointed out.
“Yeah, I know, but are you aware that the FBI is here?” Tommy asked.
Billy finally looked over at Tommy. Steve about dropped the machine in his hand to look back at his friends.
“Just the normal FBI or the pain in my ass?” Steve asked.
“It’s him for sure. I wasn’t at first that’s why I haven’t said anything, but today I saw him go into the diner with Callahan. They had breakfast together,” Tommy explained.
“Well, honey, we had a good run,” Billy teased.
Steve shot him a look.
“Come on now, Steve, we knew he’d eventually figure it out that we came home,” Billy said.
“Yeah, well, not only do we have Max to keep away from him but Y/n and El as well,” Steve growled.
“So we’ll up their protection,” Billy suggested.
“She’s the sister of the Chief of police. We won’t be able to keep her from him for very long,” Steve said. “Especially, when he figures out not only is she spending all of this time with us, but that she is connected to me and now you,”
“I’ll get ahold of the twins and send them out as extra eyes on the girls,” Tommy said.
“Thanks, Tommy,” Billy said.
“Is there anything else that I can do for you two?” Tommy asked.
Billy shook his head. He could practically feel the anger rolling off Steve. “You can go. You’re not going to want to see what’s about to happen next,”
Tommy nodded and then excused himself.
“Steve,” Billy said in a warning tone.
“Don’t use that tone of voice with me, Billy. I am not a child,” Steve snarled slamming the plug into the wall.
Billy looked down at the man in the chair. “It was nice knowing you,”
“Wait, what does that mean?” The man asked.
Billy stepped off to the side as Steve turned on the drill. The man began squirming in his spot. He froze when Steve’s shadow fell over him.
“Steve, please, I said I was sorry. I can make this right,” The man pleaded with him.
“You had your chance,” Steve said coldly.
Billy looked away just as the bit of the drill started to dig its way into the man’s temple. His screams began to fill the room. Steve was having a moment. He was angry. They had believed that they had lost the FBI agent. Now that he was here in Hawkins he was presenting the two of them with new issues.
Issues that they couldn’t really afford to have right now. Leaving, Steve to continue doing what deemed necessary, Billy left to head to his office. They really needed a secretary/assistant to help with minuscule bullshit they had to deal with. Billy wanted to ask Y/n to do it, but Steve doesn’t want her apart of this.
She had already started breathing down his neck about telling her the truth. Steve doesn’t want to tell her the truth now that they’ve figured out that her brother has kept her in the dark. Billy told him that would end up biting them in the ass if they continued to keep her in the dark, but Steve didn’t want to listen to him.
Billy knew that Steve loved her. God, he couldn’t blame his best friend. He was already starting to have feelings for her as well. He was growing attached. El and Y/n have so quickly become part of their lives, Billy couldn’t even tell you how that happened.
The five of them made sense. They worked so well together. Billy wanted to keep Y/n safe too, but Billy had been doing all of this for long enough that he knew the dangers of keeping people in the dark. Max didn’t know everything, but she knew enough of what her brothers were up to. They were going to have to eventually tell her the truth.
And they would have to hope that they made enough of an impact on her that she wouldn’t go running and screaming right into her brother’s arms. Now on top of all of that, they had to keep her out of the grasp of the FBI. Once they figure out that not only is she Hopper’s sister, but hanging out with the two of them it was going to cause her a lot of problems.
Billy’s mind was racing. He had to come up with the best way possible to keep her out of the FBI’s grasp. The best way to keep her safe would be to have Y/n move in with them, but she wouldn’t agree to that. She had El to take care of and she wouldn’t willingly give up her home.
Unless, yeah, unless, she had no choice and her home was taken away from her giving her no choice but to accept.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The week had been long. The first week back to school had worn out the girl. Work was starting to slow down, but you had plenty of things to keep you busy. Max had pretty much stayed over all week. Your place was closer to school then hers and with the boys, all living close the group of them liked walking to and from school together.
Billy and Steve hadn’t been around and kind of quiet. Max had told you that they were busy with their work and when they got like that they kind of retreated and stayed away from the normal world.
Today was Friday everyone was supposed to be over for dinner tonight, but Billy had sent a quick text to say that he and Steve wouldn’t make it. El called after school to inform you that she and Max were doing homework at Mike’s and then heading to the arcades for pizza and games.
Having a Friday to yourself was weird. You weren’t sure how you felt about it. But having the night to yourself you were going to take advantage of it. After work, you decided to do your grocery shopping and then stop for take-out.
Currently, you stood tucked inside your trunk as you started to grab your grocery bags. You wanted to be a badass and carry all of this in one load, but now that there was more than just you and El eating your groceries there was plenty more to carry in. You decided to carry in all of the cold groceries first.
Loading your arms up you took a step back and tripped over the skateboard Max had thrown off to the side. You felt yourself losing your balance, but then there was a hand on your back. Settled on your feet once again, you turned around to see who had come to your rescue.
The man was tall with curly brown hair and big rimmed glasses. He was wearing a black suit and you saw the FBI badge dangling from his pocket.
“Miss Hopper,” He greeted his accent was thick definitely not American.
“I want to say thanks, but I have a feeling you’re here for a reason, right Agent?” You asked.
The man smiled. “I’m Agent Alexei Stepanov from the FBI,”
You refused to shake his hand. “What can I help you with Agent?”
“Please, we will be spending a lot of time together, I insist you calling me Alexei,” He said.
“I’m good, thanks, again, what can I help you with, Agent?” You repeated yourself.
“Well, Y/n, I’m hoping you can assist me on a case that I’m working on,” Alexei said.
“My brother hasn’t mentioned to me about any cases that required the FBI,” You pointed out.
“Your brother hasn’t called me in. My case brought me here to Hawkins,” He informed you.
Your brows furrowed together in confusion. Hawkins never had any trouble. So you didn’t understand why he was here.
“And why do you think that I will be able to help you?” You asked him hoping to get more answers out of him.
“Now, isn’t the time to talk about that. Would you be willing to meet me at the hotel on the edge of town tomorrow morning for coffee so we can discuss this?” Alexei asked.
“I can’t. My girls will be home and we have plans,” You told him.
Alexei smiled and then pulled out his business card. He didn’t wait for you to reach for it. Instead, he reached forward and tucked it into your coat pocket.
“Call me and we can set up a time that will work best for you,” Alexei said.
“And what if I don’t want to help?” You asked him.
“I’m giving you the chance to be a good citizen, Y/n. If you refuse, I will bring you in legally to help,” Alexei said.
You clenched your teeth together. You hated being given ultimatums.
“I won’t call you while my girls are home,” You told him.
Alexei smiled. “Call me at your earliest convenience then,”
“Fine,” You growled.
“Now, can I help you with your groceries?” Alexei asked.
You stepped back from him so he couldn’t take the groceries out of your hand.
“I received your message loud and clear, Agent. You can escort yourself off my property,” You snarled before hurrying away from him and tucking yourself inside.
Smiling to himself, Alexei headed back over to his SUV. He climbed into the driver's seat before pulling his phone out of his jacket pocket. He called the only number he had saved into his new phone.
“Hello,” The voice answered as Alexei placed the call on speaker.
“You were right she’s a feisty one,” Alexei said with a laugh.
“Did she fight you?” The voice asked.
“She resisted just like you said she would,” Alexei replied.
“But did you get her to agree to meet with you?” They asked.
“She is to contact me soon to step up a meeting,” Alexei explained.
The other end was quiet. “What’s on your mind? You’re not regretting your decision to work with me, are you?” Alexei asked.
“No, of course not, I want Y/n and El to be safe,” He replied.
“Then what’s the problem?” Alexei asked.
“I’m afraid Hopper will find out that I was behind this,” He admitted.
“Ah yes, the ultimate betrayal. Not only are you his officer, but he considers you one of his best friends. I’m sure when Jim finds out the truth it’s going to kill him that you turned your back against him, Callahan,” Alexei said
Callahan sucked in a breath. “I’m not turning my back against him. He isn’t doing his job to keep Billy and Steve away from Y/n and El. If you can do what you say you can do then that’s all that matters,” Callahan explained.
“It may not seem like it, but you are doing the right thing, Callahan,” Alexei said reassuringly.
“Well, it doesn’t feel like it,” Callahan sighed.
“Once things start moving along you’ll change your mind and realize that this is the right thing to do,” Alexei replied.
“Right, if you say so,” Callahan said.
“I do. Now, I have a few more things I need to be attending to while there is still some sunlight left,” Alexei told him.
“Yeah, okay, I’ll check in later,” Callahan said before hanging up.
Taking one last look at the small house, Alexei pulled away from the curb and headed his way down to the newspaper. If Y/n wanted to play hardball then he’d let her. Alexei knew that there were enough people worried about her that he’d get someone to talk to him about what she could possibly know.
And why not start off with Jonathan and Nancy Byers. They were her best friends. Alexei was positive that at least Nancy would have something worth sharing that he could use against Steve and Billy.
Pulling up in front of the Hawkins Herald Alexei looked at himself in the mirror. He straightened out his time and stuck his phone back into his pocket. Climbing out of the SUV, he plastered another smile to his face before heading inside.
Billy Hargrove and Steve Harrington weren’t going to get away from him again. Oh no, he was going to take them down right here in their precious hometown and Alexei was going to stop at nothing to finish the job this time. No matter who or what stood in his way, this was going to end now.
Strangely Complicated (Pt. 3)
Setting: S1•E7 [The Bathtub]
Warnings: swearing
Notes: Here’s part 3! Sorry these first few parts are short, but I can’t wait to write the next one and I plan to make that one longer!
[Part1] ; [Part2]
—
During the fight, Tommy had stayed back to help Steve up and eventually I heard the patter of their feet on the ground as they caught up to us, a cop trailing behind them.
We happened to outrun him and when we all knew we were safe, we stood around huffing and puffing from loss of breath and exhaustion.
Once we all settled down, Nicole ditched us, for whatever reason, in her own car. The rest of us piled into Steve’s BMW and we drove to a nearby gas station. Tommy and Carol went inside to grab some things, and I got to sit alone with Steve for a minute. We sat in silence on the hood of his car and I could tell he was in pain as he winced from his injuries.
“You deserve it, you know?” I said to him.
“Yeah, I know.” He responded softly.
“And you’ve gotta make it up to both Nancy and Jonathan.” I stated.
“How do I do that?” Steve asked me.
“Well you start by ditching these yahoos. You’re better off without them. They’ve only made this situation worse. Get rid of them, and we’ll go and make everything right. We’ll dump those two sacks of garbage, go wash the red spray paint from the marquee, and apologize to both Nancy and Jonathan. Just trust me, you can do this, and I can help you.”
Before he got a chance to respond to me, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum came back outside.
“Hey. You owe me a $1.20.” Tommy said, handing Steve a can of coke and some aspirin. Steve tossed the pain reliever in his mouth and gulped it down.
“Don’t worry he’ll need more than aspirin when we’re done with him.” Tommy said.
“Yeah, if the creep ever gets out. The cops should just lock him up forever. Did you see the look on his face?” Carol did a shitty impersonation of Jonathan and punched into Tommy’s chest.
“He probably had that same look whenever he killed his brother, right?” Tommy nudged Steve.
My blood boiled at the statement and I rolled my eyes once Tommy redirected his attention to Carol.
“Oh, god.” Carol said in a disgusted tone, “I just got an image of him making that face while he and Nancy are screwing.”
Steve had had enough and spoke up, “Carol, for once in your life shut your damn mouth.”
“What?” Carol said, confused.
“Hey, what’s your problem man?” Tommy piped up.
“You’re both assholes, that’s my problem.”
I could hear the frustration and anger in Steve’s voice. We both got off of the hood of the car to stand and face the two peabrains in front of us.
“Are you serious right now?”
“Yeah I’m serious. You shouldn’t have done that.”
“Done what?” Tommy asked as if he was unaware of the words he spray painted.
“You know what!”
“You mean call her out for what she really is? Oh, that’s funny, because I don’t remember you asking me to stop.”
“I should’ve put that spray paint right down your throat.”
“What the hell, Steve?” Carol squeaked.
“You know, neither of you ever cared about her. You never even liked her because she’s not miserable like you two. She actually cares about other people.”
“The slut with a heart of gold!” Carol jeered at Steve.
“I told you to watch your mouth!” Steve retorted.
“Hey! I don’t know what’s gotten into you, man, but you don’t talk to her that way.” Tommy moved closer to him.
“Get out of my face.” Steve said to him.
Tommy grabbed Steve by his jacket, “Or what? Or what? You gonna fight me now, too? Huh? You gonna fight me now, too? Because you couldn’t take Jonathan Byers... so I wouldn’t recommend that.”
I was fed up with these assholes. I swiftly walked up to the two that were mere seconds from an altercation. With my both of my arms, I pushed Tommy back with all my might. He looked at me as though I’d lost my mind.
“Back the hell off, Tommy. You might not think Steve can take you, but you better think twice about whether or not you wanna cross me, you prick,” I turned to walk to the passenger side of Steve’s car. I heard Carol scoff at my remarks. I looked her dead in the eyes and said, “Don’t push me, Carol. I’m not afraid to kick your ass either.”
I could see the idiots turning red with anger and embarrassment as I slid into the passenger side of Steve’s car.
Steve opened the driver’s side door to get in.
“Here let me get the door for you buddy.” Tommy said before slamming the door behind him as though he was a cop putting a criminal in the back of the police car.
Muffled, we could hear Tommy obnoxiously yelling, “That’s right! Run away, Stevie boy! Run away, just like you always do! Those girls are turning you into a little pussy!”
Tommy’s annoying voice faded away as we drove off.
Steve had an aggravated expression painted on his face.
“You did so great, Harrington. Way to tell of those donkeys!” I exclaimed to him to help improve his mood.
He cracked a smile and said, “Donkeys?”
“Yeah... you know, jackasses...?”
We both burst out laughing so hard, I thought my sides were going to split.
The laughter died down as we pulled off to park down the street from the movies. Once the car was no longer in motion, he turned toward me and he said, “You were pretty badass earlier, (Y/N).”
“Oh well thanks...” I said, blushing.
I turned towards him, “I think you were pretty badass, too. It takes a lot to put yourself in a position like that. You must like Nancy a lot to go through all of this for her.”
“Yeah...” He said, trailing off, “Thanks for helping me, (Y/N).”
“You’re welcome...” I said, not realizing how much we had subconsciously continued to inch our faces closer and closer.
I realized the lack of distance between us and recognized that the likelihood of us kissing was becoming greater and greater each second.
As much as I craved a kiss from the Harrington boy, I knew it would be wrong. He was into Nancy Wheeler, and I had no intention of getting hung up on a guy who was already infatuated with another girl.
I cleared my throat, looked at the floorboard, and said, “Yeah, uh, we should, uh keep working on getting Nancy’s forgiveness and go wash the marquee now...”
“Oh, yeah, uh, definitely.” Steve’s cheeks were lightly shaded in a pink color.
We both retreated from the car to go forward with our next task.
A man on a ladder attempted to scrub away the red spray paint on the marquee.
Steve looked at me, I could tell he was reluctant to go forward with this, “Are you sure about this? What if that guy rats me out?”
“Do it, Harrington. For Nancy.” I patted his shoulder and said, “Go on!”
He went forward and the man handed him the cleaning supplies. I stood down on the ground with my hands in my pockets, as he was on the ladder, scrubbing away.
I looked up at him and smiled. “Proud of you, Harrington!” I said with a cheesy smile on my face and giving him two thumbs up.
He shook his head and chuckled at me. Along with his small laughter, his beautiful smile spread across his face. This resulted in the butterflies that fluttered around within my stomach. I realized in that moment how much I liked that smile.
Steve Harrington was a complicated boy. He didn’t always show it, but he definitely had a sweet side and wanted to do the right thing. He just needed a support system to guide him.
“Nancy’s a really lucky girl...” I said so softly, I couldn’t even tell if Steve heard me.
After the red paint was washed away, Steve climbed down from the latter.
“Now what?” He said to me.
“Now we go apologize to Jonathan in person.”
“Like now?” He asked.
“Uh huh! C’mon, Harrington, keep up! We gotta get to the Byers’ house, it’s already getting dark!”
Summer.
It was a wonderful time to take time off of school and worrying about grades and to just relax.
Tom had surprised (Y/N) with tickets to London to not only explore the city and check it off her bucket list, but to also meet his family. It has been a wonderful seven months, but by the time it was their three month anniversary he didn’t want it to be a bet. Even when he had told Jake they were dating, he continued to add more to the bet, get her to say ‘I love you’.
Check.
On their four month anniversary, she had said it without realizing. It was one of those moment’s when you’re looking at someone in complete awe, when your eyes are basically shaped like hearts.
It was one of those moment’s where the rest of the world went mute and all that mattered was them. How she whispered it not even realizing what she was thinking was let out to the world.
They were walking in central park, the snow was slowly starting to melt yet it was still a bit chilly out. The two had just came from dinner and decided to take a stroll in the park before heading back to campus. Every so often she’d look up at him a warm feeling spread through her body every time he caught her eye.
“I love you.”
(Y/N) didn’t even realize she had said it, Tom though the moment he heard he say it. It felt like a dream, his heart stopped he gazed down at her a small smile tugging at his lips.
“What did you say?”
The words replayed before she looked back up at Tom, it was a now or never moment.
“I love you.”
Tom leaned down placing a sweet kiss on her lips, he felt her smile against his lips causing Tom to pull away slowly. He placed his mitten covered hands on her cheek, placing a small kiss onto her forehead.
“I love you too.”
Jake didn’t stop from there, he said that if he wanted the bet to be done with then move to third base.
Check.
Six month anniversary, after Tom had spoiled her with a huge shopping spree. and a beautiful dinner. He had rented a hotel suite, Harrison helped Tom decorate the suite with roses and candles.
“Thomas, I swear this better not be some fifty shades of grey shit.” (Y/N) commented the moment Tom had asked her to place the blindfolds over her eyes squeezing Tom’s hand lightly.
“It’s not, I promise. But if you’re into th-” She slapped the back of his not allowing him to finish his sentence, yup not gonna happen buddy.
She heard a small click unsure of what that might have been for until she felt Tom guide her once more before whispering “Take off your blindfolds.” slowly she undid the knot blinking a few times allowing her eyes adjust to the lighting.
(Y/N) gasped lightly before looking back at Tom, “Tommy.. you didn’t have to do this.” Tom shrugged in response walking over to wrap his arms around her waist pulling her closer to his chest.
“Happy sixth month anniversary darling.”
The bet didn’t stop there. But you knew that already.
“You love her don’t you? Like actually love her? Damn you’ve gone soft.” Jake slurred causing Tom to huff loudly brushing off what Jake had said.
“Fuck off Jake.”
This caused Jake to stand from where he was sitting, pointing his beer in Tom’s direction.
“You had all your chances to break up with her, yet you kept pushing it. Alright final part of the bet Holland.” Tom stood up from his seat with his jaw clenched ready to punch the lights out of Jake, fucking hell why did he agree anyway?
“Break her heart Holland, make her hate you.”
Pending.
He didn’t want to break up with her, god that was the last thing he wanted to do. But he never backed down from a bet, but he also didn’t want (Y/N) to hate him. That little shit Jake knew what he was doing, he knew what buttons to press.
“Thomas?” (Y/N) tugged at his arm causing Tom to look in his girlfriend of seven months, “Look! Wow it’s as beautiful as I thought it would be.” he watched in awe as she admired the city of London below her.
He didn’t want to let her go, he didn’t want her to end up hating him after what they’ve gone through. God thinking about it made his heart clench and feel sick to his stomach.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, we will be landing in about ten minutes. The current time in London is 11:44 AM, 65 degrees fahrenheit, 18 degrees celsius. The current time in New York is 6:44 AM, 71 degrees fahrenheit, 22 degrees celsius. Thank you for choosing United Airlines, we will be landing shortly.”
God he felt sick, he doesn’t want to end it with (Y/N) really that’s the last thing he wanted. There was something holding him back from wanting to break up with her, and something eating up at him for just needing to do it.
(Y/N) on the other hand was beyond nervous on meeting Tom’s family for the first time in person, she had seen them over facetime and in many pictures from Tom’s camera roll. Yet this is the real deal, Tom had met (Y/N) parents when they came to visit during spring break. That was the first time she had seen Tom get so nervous or something.
“Should I change? Yeah I’ll change.” before Tom could go back and dig something out of his closet she grabbed his wrist tugging him towards the bed.
(Y/N) placed her hand on his cheek rubbing her thumb against his cheekbone before speaking “No, if you change one more time we’ll be late. You look great Tommy, my parent’s will love you.” she leaned in to place a chaste kiss on his lips in sign of reassurance.
After a their little lunch date (Y/N) father had pulled Tom aside and said “She talks about you a lot, you make her happy. Thank you for getting her out of that little shell of her’s.”
That’s what Tom thought back to. Those words (Y/N) father had told him always echoed when he thought about how he’d break up with her. But right now was not the time to think about breaking up with her. Instead enjoy summer vacation and (Y/N) meeting his family for the first time.
Once they landed, they went to retrieve their bags and waited outside for Harry. All (Y/N) wanted to do was get in the car and nap, her body was still on New York time. It was about 12:25 London time and it was 7:25 New York time, during this time she’d be asleep.
“Hey you div!” a voice called causing (Y/N) to furrow her brows in confusion she looked up from the ground to see Harry walking towards them. Tom mumbled something under his breath yet (Y/N) couldn’t really catch what he said.
“The lovely (Y/N) (Y/L/N), the person Tom talk’s non-stop about!” Harry pulled her into a hug causing (Y/N) to chuckle lightly, “Ah yes Harry, not Tom’s favorite!” Harry pulled away quickly with a loud dramatic gasp.
“Well we all know that’s a lie.” Harry said in a ‘as a matter of fact’ tone.
“It’s not you div! Now help me will you?”
Before Harry went to help Tom with the rest of the luggage he opened the door for (Y/N) allowing her to climb into the passenger seat, she got as comfortable as she could and told herself she’d rest her eyes a little.
"Darling, we’re here.” Tom spoke softly lightly tapping his sleeping girlfriend, he watched as (Y/N) shuffled around not budging or trying to wake up.
“Darling c’mon wake up.” (Y/N) groaned lightly raising her hand to rub the sleep out of her eyes to see Tom sitting in front of her, she hummed lightly “Hi Tommy.”
He was gonna miss that.
“Hi darling, we’re here.”
(Y/N) slowly shuffled out of the car and followed closely behind Tom as they approached the house that was filled with light chatter, “Tom!” Nikki announced as she began to move towards the two.
Tom stood with his arms slightly open expecting his mom to hug him first yet she brushed pass him and went in to hug (Y/N), “Oh! I’ve been so excited to finally meet you in person (Y/N)!” Nikki exclaimed causing (Y/N) to smile.
“I’ve been excited to finally meet you in person as well Mrs.Holland!” Nikki pulled away lightly waving off (Y/N) attempt to call her Mrs.Holland, “Dear please, call me Nikki.”
“(Y/N)!” another voice called which seemed to belong to Paddy, who yet again brushed pass Tom to greet (Y/N) instead.
“Paddy!” (Y/N) crouched down lightly to accept Paddy’s hug.
“Missed you too mom.” Tom spoke causing Nikki to chuckle, going over to hug her oldest son.
I guess (Y/N) didn’t need to worry after all.
-
The Holland’s had decided to bring (Y/N) to their favorite beach, they gave (Y/N) a day to get a bit use to the time change before heading out to play tourist. She had also finally met Tessa who was the cutest dog she had ever met in the entire world.
(Y/N) walked along side Nikki and Dom as they watched the boys run after one another, “Whenever they’re together it’s like their kids again.” Dom commented as (Y/N) nodded in response.
“He talks about you guys a lot.” (Y/N) said as she brushed a piece of hair behind her ear wrapping her arms around her chest as a cool breeze brushed passed.
“As he does with you,” Nikki replied as a tint of red kissed her cheeks, “he really loves you. I’ve never seen so head over heels for a girl before.” Tom looked back for a moment catching (Y/N) eye before sending her a playful wink, she crinkled her nose at the action shaking her head lightly at him.
"I should be thanking you two, if it weren’t for Tom I’d still be hiding in my shell. He’s helped me get out of my comfort zone, I can’t thank him enough for it.”
She was head over heels in love with him.
-
They had one more day left in London, Tom had taken her to see Big Ben, the London eye, Buckingham palace, and take several iconic London phone booth photos.
(Y/N) helped Nikki with dinner, chopping up the vegetables and washing the dishes that they had used. During that time they had a girl talk and just gossiped, something she did with her mother all too often. Once dinner was ready Nikki had asked (Y/N) to call the boys.
Paddy and Sam came rushing in the backyard, Dom had a comedy gig so Nikki had made him a plate to warm up one he came home. (Y/N) made her way to Tom’s room where the two were currently sharing a room, before she could call the him to eat she heard another voice in the room.
“You’re kidding right? That’s fucked up Tom, no this is way passed fucked up.” the voice was surely belonged to Harry, she stood there quietly listening in on their conversation.
“It’s just, it suppose to be a bet. I still is, now I have to break up with her.” (Y/N) tensed slightly at the sound of Tom’s voice.
“Tom, you’re really gonna choose your pride and ego over (Y/N)? Keeping your president position over (Y/N)? All you had to do was say no to the bet, do you even have real feeling for her?”
(Y/N) knocked on the door lightly, “Dinner time.”
Tom looked over at Harry in panic praying that (Y/N) didn’t hear their entire conversation.
“You better make this right Thomas.”
-
The moment they landed back in New York Tom knew something was off, she hadn’t spoken to him the entire flight and dodged him when he went in for a kiss. (Y/N) waited till they got back to campus to question him not wanting to make a scene in public and look like the ‘crazy girlfriend’.
Once (Y/N) unlocked her dorm, she looked around to see if her roommate was in for the summer yet it was empty. Tom had already stopped by the frat house to drop off his things.
“What’s wrong?” Tom questioned quietly.
(Y/N) sighed turning around to look at Tom “What is this.” she gestured pointing between her and Tom, “Was this all a bet? What was it?” in that moment he knew, she heard what him and Harry were speaking about.
“(Y/N)-”
“No. Was I a bet?”
Tom didn’t answer instead his head hung low, he fucked up, he really fucked this up.
“Was I a-”
Tom looked up and shouted “Yes!” she was taken aback by his answer her heart slowly began to break as tears brimmed her eyes.
“You were a bet (Y/N), you were one of my bets. If I dated you I’d keep my position as president so Jake would ‘t be president. I promised him that I’d have your wrapped around my fingers and I did. I had you wrapped around my fingers within four months of dating, I was given a year and finished it in seven months instead. So yes, this was all a bet, everything I said was a lie, none of this was real.”
“My love for you wasn’t real.”
She felt dizzy, the world was beginning to crumble as a few tears began to stain her cheeks. She felt sick, she felt sadness and anger.
“Get out.”
Tom stood there for a moment, he just hurt the girl he loved the most. He just took her heart that she had given him and ripped it into two right in front of her.
“Thomas get the hell out!”
(Y/N) pushed his chest lightly causing Tom to stumble back and walk towards the door, he had hurt the girl he had learned to love. He fucking hurt her. ‘
“I fucking hate you and never wanna see you again!”
Check.
Study Buddy
REAL LIFE: COUPLE: TBS X READER RATING: SMUT AF
I giggled as I got changed into my little check skirt and thigh high socks trying to look as cute and sexy as I could. I had Thomas coming over tonight, we are both aware we like each other but being the cute shy little boy he is he won't make a move on me so I had decided to invite him over for study when my parents where out and make some moves on him, as soon as everything was ready the doorbell rang so I went getting it leaning in the door trying my best to look sexy "Hello Thomas" I smirk "Uuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhh hello." He blushed as he looked at me his eyes caught my skirt first lingering on my high hemline, then my socks obviously amused by the cute school girl look the two created together, his eyes shyly moved up to my chest making him blush even harder a bright red already his eyes met my at last before quickly retreating to the floor holding his backpack with a nervous grip "Come on in then" I smile he blushed more and gently came inside my house, the second he was inside I shut the door leaving him trapped between me and the door "You uhh you look very nice tonight y/n" he smiled "Awww Thomas, that's so sweet of you to say" I smiled making sure I brushed against him as I moved away to my dinning table and he came and sat beside me getting his books out starting to study, I watched him a little sat with his book open twirling his pencil around in his fingers As he reads, his hair out its normal place where he had tried to fix it but it wasn't playing ball as he no doubt had a shower or bath before he came over and his hair wasn't compeletly dry yet when he left home, he looked tried already like he could pass out into his book the blush had gone now which made me giggle a little "Your so smart Thomas" I smile "Uhhh thanks y/n, your a hell of a lot smarter then I am. I mean you can do algebra," he says "that shits witchcraft" "It's not that hard" I laugh "It be witchcraft" he says "Come here" I smile taking his pencil making sure that I touched his hand when I did as I scooted my chair closee so our knees touched and got a bit of paper "let's do something simple, and let's make the letters simpler for you Tommy" I laugh "Let's imagine that each letter is s star wars character now each only has so many bullets or energy whatevers in there gun or space ship, and you don't know how any each had but know the overall amount" I explain "you following me?" I ask "Yeah" he shrugs "So if... 'Luke = Han = Chewy=
L + h + c = 387" "Okay..." He nods a little puzzled but keeping with me explainng it " And we know
H+ c = 232 L+h = 327
So what's the answer?" I ask "Uhhh I guess work backwards... Is the total is 387 but just Han and lukes make 327 then... Chewy has to only have 60 which take sixty away from 232 is 172 which is what Han has so but process of allimation Luke = 155 Han = 172 Chewy= 60" he explained "See it's not all that complicated" I smiled handing him back his pencil "I guess not, thanks y/n" he smiles "Humm your welcome Thomas" I smile giving his cheek a kiss and returning to my book, I saw him glow bright red dropping his pencil looking a little panicked till he returned to his book but then looked confused remembering he dropped his pencil so he sighed moving the chair out as it had fallen under the table I smirked as he went under there crossing my leg making sure to flash my panties as I read my book innocently he was taking an awfully long time down there to find his pencil till eventually he sat back in the chair blushing harder then before looking very nervous it was obvious he saw what I wanted him too "I uhhhh I uh I I'll be back in a minute" s says before he rushed off upstairs i assume to the bathroom or something I heard alot more sites up there then just going to my bathroom? And it's not like he would get confused he spend half is life here with me I shrugged as I heard water running upstairs I got his little notebook flicking a page or two and writing s little note 'hello Tommy, I hope this works as I plan for a small cute distraction 💜💙💜💙💜💙💜💙😘' Then putting it back how it was as he came back "You alright?" I ask "Hu? Ohh yeah. I'm fine" he says sitting back with me and getting in with his studies for a while I kept my eyes on him alot And I think he noticed a little he glanced away from his book to look at me every so often but quickly returned to the book in hope I wouldn't notice him I smiled moving closer again and resting my head on his shoulder nuzzling into his neck a little he looked panicked glancing at me on his shoulder blushing hard again I could feel his heart rate going insane a moment "uhhhhhhhhh y/n..." He began "Ummmm your shirt is so soft Thomas" I smile snuggling closer "Uhh thank you" he answered unsure how to respond to me "Ummm I could lay here forever" I smiled Hugging his arm "I uhh I could have you laid here forever too" he blushed gently resting his head on my own and I sighing happily he kept working even with me like this till I noticed he turned his notebook to where o had left the note he liked confused moving away from me a little to read it I could tell he was reading it and as soon as he was done he turned to me and clearly was about to ask what I meant but I gave his lips the quickest little kiss I could I don't think had have ever seen Thomas so flustered. His face a bright red, his eyes wide in shock, he was trying to speak but no words came out his mouth but stutters and gibberish, his hands couldn't keep still messing with his hair, his other hand, the table just trying to stop his nerves "What uhhmmm what did you uhh you do that for?" He forced out "Because your cute" I shrug nuzzling into his neck again "I like you Thomas...I thought you knew by now" I smile "No.... i Had no literally no idea until like today" he says "in fact I'm still kinda on the fence if your flirting with me or your just being friendly?" He blushed "Of course I like you silly boy" I smile Hugging him tightly "I - I uhh I like you too" he blushed "y/n could I uhh could I kiss you?" He asks and I nod he blushed hard again fixing some hair away from my face looking very nervous before he moved forward and gently kissed me I kissed back happily our kiss was very slow but very sweet and gentle his lips where soft a little chapped where he bites and licks them so much, it was funny I have been around Thomas so much but only now I really noticed his scent, like car oil, graphite pencils, dust on vynal and that aftershave he uses,I don't actually often smell the last one he normally does bother we it's just me he's hanging around with clearly he thought it was important tonight to bother to make himself clean and tidy for me, I pulled away from our sweet kisses and went back to work blushing a little myself, a first kiss with someone you really like and have know for a long time is always going to be a little awkward we both sat with our work I smiled alot very happy I got to kiss him atlast, he looked very happy but very worried like he was running though the kiss in his head enjoying it but worried all the same I smiled slipping my hand with his own and intertwining our fingers he smiled at me holding my hand tightly too. We sat like this for a while quietly just studying keeping our hands together as we did till his phone went off "Ohh shit, sorry I have to-" he says "It's fine go on" I laugh going back to my books h smiled giving my cheek a little kiss then my hand before he got up going answer his phone In the kitchen I smiled listening a little bit not intentionally evesdropping but I overheard a couple bits "I uhh I'm not sure." He says "I know- it's just studying" he says "I uhh yeah I might do, alright I'll text you later" he says and he quickly came back "Who as it?" I ask "Ohh my dad, just asking when I planned to bring the car home" he says "You can go if he's getting mad about it" I laugh "No it's okay, he can wait a little while longer. He was just getting worried since he uhh knows I'm here with you and all" he says "With me?" I laugh "Yeah, it's not that he doesn't trust you y/n! More that he uhh doesn't trust me... with you" he says "Why? What does your dad think your gonna do to me?" I laugh "What do you think he thinks I'm doing with you?" he laughs "what any dad assumes his son is doing when going to the house of s young lady" he explained "Oohh bouncing me on your cock" I laugh "Y/n!" He says in shock "don't talk like that, I'm not like that" he says "I know your not, but that's what most people assume" I shrug "when young men leave there houses looking all cute, dressed up and clean. Taking the car over to a young ladies house while here parents are out" I smirked cuddling his arm "I guess so," he blushed as we got back to our books for a while I kept noticing him looking at me then go back to his books before I caught him I smirked when I noticed the obvious bulge in his jeans so I giggled "what?" He laughs "Nothing" I giggled "Tommy? What this?" I ask grabbing his cock though his jeans "AHH!" He jumped very shocked to have my hand rather suddenly so close to such an intimate place "I uhhhhhhh uhhhh uhhhgg I uummmm" he stuttered trying to think straight "Could I see?" I ask innocently "Uhhhhhhhh" he stuttered "maybe later y/n" he blushed "Owww pretty please Thomas" I begged "I just wanna see and maybe have a play if I like it" I smirked rubbing my thumb on his jeans "If ... If I let you, would you... You know?" He asks and I nodded "Of course I would" I smiled getting faster moving my whole hand around more "Okay" he blushed so I moved my hand away shutting my books "That's enough studying for one night" I smirk holding his hand and tugging him over to sit with me on the sofa getting a blanket over us both to keep our activities a little more private I smiled pulling him to kiss me and he happily kissed me passionately I held both his hands a moment before undoing my top and letting him rest his hands on my breasts one in each hand softly gropeing them "Ummmm y/n..." He groans between kisses "Humm you like them Tommy?" I ask and he nods quickly not wanting to stop our kisses it made me giggle a little as I undid his jeans his cock insantly jumping free "no boxers? What where you planning tonight then?" I smirked "Nothing! They are uncomfortable when I have a bonner and I know I always get a bonner around you so I didn't bother" he explained "Any excuse" I smirk grabbing his base looking at him better "umm Thomas, it's so big" I smirked "Yeah? Could uh could I play with these while your playing with that?" He asks and I nod so he smiled pulling me back to our now rather lustful kiss turning it quickly into lustful making out our tongues all over each other as I gently stroked his hard cock noticing pre cum already dripping down him as his hands moved to my back searching for the clasps on my bra he found them unclipping them all and pushing my bra down enough he could slip his hands in but my bra still be on me he softly groped my breasts as fast as I was stroking him "ummm faster please, I'm not sure how much longer I can-" he began so I smirked roughly and quickly pumping his cock my hand moving from base to head over and over up and down his shaft as we kissed his hands still gropeing and squeezing my breasts he grunted, groaned and moaned often Into our kiss I could tell he was close by the amount of times his hips bucked into my hand I smiled as one of his hands left my breasts and slipped under my skirt and panties he felt around a little lost a moment before pushing a finger inside me "Uhhh! Thomas!" I moaned as I pulled away "Uhh fuck your tight" he groans trying to slip another finger after a couple attempts it works giving him two fast as rythmic fingers inside me as I roughly pumped his cock as we kissed his other hand on my breast feeling and gropeing alot my other hand on his neck playing with his soft hair as we made out I was struggling to keep my focus having his fingers inside me until I moved my hand from his neck to help him out alittle moving his thumb onto my clit he got the message rubbing in it softly as he finger fucked me so I sped up my hand "shit sorry, I forgot about that bit" he blushed "It's okay, come on I'll race you" I laugh "Okay" he smirked pulling me back to our kiss speeding up his fingers rubbing on my clit fast and hard I smirked pumping and rubbing on his cock so fast my arm was hurting I knew we where both close but neither of us was going to stop we where both to needy to close ourselves to stop pleasuring each other "uhh uuhh y/n please..." He begs "What?" I asked "I'm close darling, please please faster" he begs so I sped up as much as I could as so did he "Uhh uuuh Thomas Thomas!" I whined "I'm gonna cum" I moaned "Uuuuhhh fucking hell! I know I know I'm gonna cum too" he moans both of us beyond the point of no return, both of us far to desperate to stop for anything- "We're home!" My parents smiled opening the door we quickly pulled away going to each end of the sofa miles way from each other I did my bra back up and Thomas did his jeans back up as they came into the room I giggled a little tugging my skirt down alot so I didn't look so sexy anymore Thomas just sat blushing bright red looking annoyed and frustrated "I thought you two where studying?" My dad asks "We took a break" I shrug winking at Thomas and he blushed a little more "Shouldn't you be getting home Thomas? It's getting late" my mother smiles "Ohhh uh yeah" he blushed so we got up sorting his stuff back into his backpack and I smiled going with him out to his car "so uhhhh" he blushed unsure what to really say to me given everything that's happened tonight "So? Your place tomorrow night? For studying" I smirk running my hand down his chest and into his jeans "Yeah, Tomorrow night" he smirked grabbing my waist and slipping his hand under my panties to rub on my clit I checked the windows and knowone was looking so I pulled him close kissing him deeply stroking his still rock hard cock and he rubbed on my clit faster then ever it didn't take me long to finish clamping my legs together as I came moaning into his mouth the whole time not even a couple seconds later he finished too grunting and groaning intoy Mouth as his hips bucked towards my hand blowing his load into his pants "dad's gonna be so mad at me" he laughs "Why?" I giggled "We just came leaned against my dad's car he's gonna fucking kill me he finds out" he laughs "I still don't understand why you don't have your own car yet" I laugh "you must be able to afford one" I smile "Darling... It's not the car I can't afford it's insuraning one, seriously a guy my age first time officialy driving a car that isn't my dad's, living in London and employed as an actor. It's in like six digits" he sighed "Okay, well next time you borrow your dad's car how about we take it up the the park and... Study again" I smirk "Next week darling" he smiles "see you tomorrow" he smiles "Tomorrow Tommy" I laugh giving him a kiss which he happily returned before heading off home, I bidded my parents goodnight taking my books upstairs as I did I noticed my room had a draw open... My underwear draw? Making me laugh "so that's what he was up to" I laugh shutting the draw and going to the bathroom a minute as I did I noticed before turning on the tab to brush my teeth there was...
