Phylogenetic weasel tournament
Family: Mustelidae
Subfamily: Mustelinae
Genus: Mustela
The european polecat is a relatively lesser known but common european species. Since I'm primary still a color genetics blog, let's see some color variants: polecats are found in two major phenotypes, the standard type (see above) and a dark fur one with no black mask. Other colour mutations include albinos and erythrists (see below).

The phylogenetic status of domestic animals is always a difficult question, but for the sake of this tournament, I chose to treat domestic ferrets as a different species. They are typically smaller, lighter in color, have smaller masks, and, unlike the solitary polecats, they love company: both of other ferrets and of humans.
And of course, being a domestic animal means lots of different colors!
