I'm so extremely serious when I say doctors should be put through an extremely extensive reliscensing process every 10 years. Doctors should have their knowledge scrutinized against current medical research and be de-barred at even the tiniest discrepancy. Too many old doctors absolutely refuse to stay up to date on research and dismiss patients because of their personal experiences. Too many people die every year because doctors don't take us seriously and refuse to listen to people who KNOW something is wrong. Too many people are told their problems are nothing and come back in a year or more with serious illnesses and doctors are just like "lol everyone makes mistakes" but doctors mistakes routinely cost people their lives! I'm tired of medical malpractice being swept away under the guise of "mistakes were made."

#everyone in the medical field is required to renew their licenses #usually every two years #i have to renew my emt license every two years which means ce and skills #paramedics do the same #doctors are required to do do the same thing #it's illegal for all of us to practice with an expired license #like no they absolutely have to be renewed with ce and updated skills practice #the amount of time your license is good for depends on where you practice medicine #three years is the max in the us tho #so anyway yeah anybody who practices medicine legally has to renew their license or they can't practice #and it's way before ten years is up #medicine gets updated all the goddamn time and we know this hence why we renew our licenses every couple years #leave it to tumblr to spread misinformation like this #we are all 100% required to do hours and hours of ce and skills renewal #as an emt alone i have to do 24 hours of ce and that doesn't include time spent on phsyical skills retraining #plus another exam #doctors have to do waaaaay more than that
