Nico x fem!reader
[i used google translate so don't come at me if it's incorrect]
Y/n sat at the dining pavilion, waiting for her best friend, Leo.
Eventually, he comes up to the table, dragging a boy in black clothes behind him. Though she hadn't officially met the son of Hades yet, she knew it was Nico di Angelo.
"Hey Y/n. Look who I brought. Y/n, this is Nico, Nico, Y/n." Leo says and sits across the table from Y/n while Nico remains standing.
The others who had already met him described him as intimidating, but Y/n didn't see it.
Leo had made it his mission to find Y/n a boyfriend.
"En serio, Leo, deja de intentar jugar al casamentero para mí." Y/n says to Leo. She had been gifted with the ability to learn a new language just by listening to someone else speak it. Being a child of Hermes and all. So she often spoke to him in Spanish. (Seriously Leo, stop trying to play matchmaker for me. And you said Nico terrifies you but he's not even scary.)
He smiles and looks down at his plate. Food appears on it and he starts to eat. Not answering Y/n.
"¿No te asusto?" Nico says in Spanish. (I don't scare you?)
You drop your fork in shock.
"Putain, tu parles espagnol." Y/n mutters in French. (Fuck, you speak Spanish.)
Nico smiles. "Je parle français aussi." (I speak French too.)
"Ich wette, du sprichist kein Deutsch." Y/n says with confidence. (I bet you don't speak German.)
Nico's smile gets smug.
"Wie veil möchten Sie wetten?" Nico asks, making Leo laugh. (How much do you want to bet?)
Y/n grunts.
"Che ni dici dell'italiano? Non puoi parlare anche I'Italiano." Y/n says in Italian, her last language. Luckily, she hasn't met many people that speak Italian so she has hope. (How about Italian? You can't possibly speak Italian too.)
Nico laughs. "Sono italiano. Hai qualcos'altro?" (I am Italian. Got anything else?)
Y/n slumps in defeat. "Sicut fundamentals Latinae et Graecae. Sed puto te etiam ista loqui." She says in Latin, which most demigods spoke. (Just the basic Latin and Greek. But I imagine you speak those too.)
Nico replies in Greek. "Loipón, that eíches díkio. Miláo kai ta dýo." (Well, you'd be correct. I speak both.)
Y/n moans in frustration. She won't be able to speak without anyone knowing what she's saying when Nico's around.
"Well, I'll see you guys. I'm gonna go. Good luck with the matchmaking!" Nico says in English and leaves.
Y/n glares daggers at Leo, who's smiling at her. "You knew what you were doing."
"You made him laugh! He doesn't laugh. Ever." Leo said, ignoring her.
"You knew he could understand what I said!"
"AND MY PLAN WORKED!" Leo celebrates.

the hamilton girls | lewis hamilton
based on dave grohl’s interviews about his daughters <33 he’s my favorite girl dad i can always trust dave grohl
Lewis Hamilton was many things. A Formula 1 driver, a seven time world champion, an idol, an inspiration to many young kids, but most of all, he was a husband and father to three girls. His family was everything to him. He enjoyed being a dad to his three precious girls.
Maeve was his oldest. She was born on a sunny day in 2013. Then came his second, Violet, born in 2017. Violet instantly became Maeve’s best friend. Lewis and Y/n were thankful that Maeve didn’t go through a jealous phase. Lastly, came their third girl, Gracie, born in early 2020.
The Hamilton girls would join their father in the paddock when they didn’t have school. Dressed in Mercedes merch, they walked hand in hand with their mother to the Mercedes garage. The entire team loved them, it was impossible not to.
“Dad! I really want lemonade!” Violet poked Lewis’ side until he payed attention to her.
“There’s no lemonade here. Have some water.” Lewis suggested, but Violet frowned. Lewis didn’t want his daughter to be upset so he directed the girls to Mercedes hospitality in hopes that someone could make the girls a lemonade. In the end, his three daughters ended up with their lemonade.
At one point, they even because Twitter famous whenever they were at the races. Violet had a habit of sleeping even before the race ended so when the camera showed Lewis celebrating his win, the camera panned over to Lewis’ family showing little Violet asleep with her mouth slightly open in her mom’s arms.
Maeve was half asleep, but she still made a heart with her hands. Gracie was with her grandma, but you were pretty sure she was asleep as well.
But when they weren’t attending races, the Hamilton girls were back in school. Whenever Lewis had time off, he would pick up the girls from school, giving you some time to yourself. He knew how the school pickup process was, what he didn’t know was how long it would take. When it was finally his time to park in front of the school, a teacher walked up making Lewis roll down the window.
The teacher was taken by surprise when she saw Lewis. “Um . . Who are you here to pick up, sir?”
“Maeve and Violet Hamilton.” He replied. Then the teacher nodded and walked back to the school. Seconds later, his two girls walked patiently towards their dad’s black Mercedes. Lewis could feel the other parents staring at him. It wasn’t everyday that Lewis Hamilton came to a children’s school.
Maeve opened the backseat door and climbed in along with Violet. They looked exhausted, probably from all the running they did during recess.
“How was school?” Lewis asked as he drove away.
“We went to the library today and I got a book. It’s about sports and your face is in it.” Violet said as she got the book out from her backpack.
“Really? What does it say?” Lewis questioned, curious as to what the book said. The girls weren’t really interested in formula 1, so he was confused as to why Violet even checked out the book.
“It says you won seven titles and then i stopped reading because I was bored. I only got it because I wanted to show you and mom that uncle Nico was in the book too.”
His girls always made him laugh. They could brighten up his day even if he was at his lowest. He was such a proud dad too, often bringing up his daughters during interviews and posting pictures of them on instagram. During his Jimmy Kimmel interview, he took any chance he got to talk about his family.
“And do your daughters understand that their dad is a seven time world champion?” Jimmy asked.
Lewis chuckled. “They don’t really care.” He said then the audience, along with Jimmy, laughed. “No, they know what I do for work, but when they were younger they thought I sold cars.”
“You sold cars? How did they come up with that?” Jimmy laughed.
“Their mum explained that I work with cars, that was all, so they assumed I sold cars because at home I have several. Then I think it was the Monaco Grand Prix where they finally got an understanding of what exactly I do. They watched the race and when it was over, I asked them what they thought of it and all I got was ‘I don’t know’ and that’s when my wife said that halfway through the race they asked her for her phone so they could watch their cartoons.” Lewis explained.
He remembers that day clearly. The girls weren’t interested in cars, they rather watch reruns of Gravity Falls. He wasn’t mad either, he was glad that they didn’t get frustrated and start causing chaos around the paddock.
Him mentioning his girls because a regular thing. During press conferences, he was often asked about his girls, more specifically if they would follow his footsteps into the world of F1.
“They don’t even care about the races.” Lewis said as the other drivers bursted out laughing. “My oldest, Maeve, she did have a phase where she liked cars, but she’s transitioned into learning about dinosaurs. She says she wants to be an paleontologist so I don’t have to worry about her.”
“Her birthday is coming up, no?” Max asked. “I’ll buy her one of those fossil kits. I think she’ll love it.”
“And what about your other daughter?”
“She falls asleep every time, I don’t think we will see her racing anytime soon. I’m telling you, they don’t care.” Lewis laughed.
“They don’t care about your world titles?” Charles asked smiling.
“They don’t care! To them, I’m just their dad. They’re like ‘daddy, I need my lemonade now’ it’s kinda funny actually. But I love my girls.”
The Hamilton girls loved their dad to death, it was clear, even if they didn’t care about his world titles or his reputation in F1. He was the best dad to them and that was all they cared about.

nhl masterlist !
pairing: nico hischier x eldest daughter!reader
warnings: angst and comfort, sex is mentioned, but not too graphic!! fluff and happy ending
song: mine by taylor swift
summary: you've had to fight for yourself and everyone your whole life, now you have nico to fight for you.
word count: 2.5 k
notes: UGH nico my love!! this is for all of the eldest daughters who deserve the world :) hope you enjoy!
★・・・・★・・・・ ★・・・・★
i was a flight risk, with a fear of fallin', wondering why we bother with love, if it never lasts
it's during one of your first dates with nico when you realize this boy is special.
you don't do relationships. you're sensible enough to know that romance isn't like how it's portrayed in media because even if there is love between two people, there will always be hesitations and complications.
complications that you do not need, not when your job keeps you busy and you have your family to think of.
there's another reason though, one you don't like to think much of as a reason for your aversion to vulnerability.
you grew up with an absent father and a mother who cared too much. your perception of love had been thrown out the window, stomped on and ran over.
so when you meet nico at a bar and he asks for your number, you don't expect it to progress anywhere.
but he's so handsome, all dimples and foreign accent as he buys you a drink and tells you that you're pretty.
three dates in, he's got you wrapped up in his arms between his legs on his bed.
he's warm, broad chest under your back. you snuggle closer, pressing the tops of your cold feet into his calves. he dips his face into your shoulder and smiles.
the notebook is playing on the tv facing his bed as he fiddles with your fingers. you told him it was your favourite last week when he took you out to an art museum. you didn't expect him to remember.
you cannot believe this man. he's made you cum three times, once with his mouth, another with his fingers and the last with his cock.
and then he drew you a bath and dried your hair for you.
when you ask him why, he puffs out his chest awkwardly, scratching one of his big bicep and tells you he really likes you and he wants to take care of you.
who does that in this day and age?
he had texted you earlier to see if you were free for dinner. you expected mediocre food and then sex.
maybe a few minutes of cuddling before you left his apartment, but he's breathing in the smell of his shampoo on your hair, holding you like it's the only thing he wants to do on a saturday night, after he had you writhing in his sheets for nearly an hour.
you want to run, because he makes you speechless and your mouth dries up with how sweet he is. you're not used to being taken care of, as sad as it sounds.
normally you would be halfway back to your apartment if had been anyone else.
but this time, something tells you to stick around because you have a premonition that even if you do get hurt, nico hischier is going to be worth it.
★・・・・★・・・・ ★・・・・★
we're takin' on the world together, and there's a drawer of my things at your place
"hey, handsome." your boyfriend of a month comes up from behind you, wrapping his arms around you and pressing a kiss into your hair.
he asks you to be his girlfriend during a morning walk in the park, eyes earnest. you say yes eagerly, because you don't know if there's something so different about him, but he makes you so deliriously happy.
so after a week or two of dancing around each other and no labels, he makes you his with a sweet, long kiss next to the flowers that are starting to bloom in the damp spring air.
now you're in his kitchen, words coming easy to you again. you tell him he looks handsome with his wet hair and week-old beard.
he flushes like he always does when you compliment him.
cute, you think.
you turn from the overnight oats you're making for him to kiss him properly. he nips your lip and you laugh.
"I have something for you, schatz ." the pet name makes you weak in the knees, and you're glad he has you pinned against the counter.
he slips a key into your fingers.
your heart drops to your stomach, and it bounces back up.
"really?" you ask, and he shrugs, oddly shy and pink.
"you're here so much, and I want you around more. it doesn't make since to drive all the way to your apartment when it's dark."
you swoon; does he even know the effect he has on you?
soon, half of his closet is full of your clothes, your pink toothbrush has a spot next to his and your girly products he has no idea how to use are scattered on his counter.
he buys you a nightstand for your side of the bed, and it has a picture of the two of you on it.
you wonder if it's too early in the relationship for something like this, but nico tells you he doesn't care.
he just wants you. you want to cry, because no one has ever just wanted you, with all of your complications and busy schedule.
he cuddles you to sleep and tells you that the two of you can take on the world together, and the first time in a while, you feel content and steady.
★・・・・★・・・・ ★・・・・★
you learn my secrets and you figure out why I'm guarded, you say we'll never make my parents' mistakes
you don't think of your father often. he left when you were 13, when you were young enough to be ridden with emotion and the feelings of inadequacies because why didn't he want you?
but you were also old enough to take care of your four younger siblings as your mother took to bed, her own problems boiling up.
sure, he kept up with birthdays and holidays by sending money instead of well wishes, but you wanted him to be present.
the last you saw of him was at your high school graduation a few years ago. you've given up since then, because he's remarried and has step-kids he treats the way he should've treated you and your siblings.
your mother has moved on. she's dating again and you like seeing the flushed glow on her cheeks over facetime as she tells you about some math teacher that took her out to an Italian restaurant.
your youngest brother, the runt of your family, your sisters always joke, is finally 18 this year.
they can all fend for themselves and you are just you.
sure, they still call you up every few weeks with something trivial, but you are no longer just the oldest of four, or the reliable daughter your mother counted on for everything.
and nico reminds you of this all the time when you start to worry and get in over your head.
you're happy and carefree. you go out with nico and his team mates who gag when the two of you kiss, and laugh at your jokes.
nico takes you on dates, and lets you try and cook swiss dishes on his days off.
your mind is clear of your father, until he calls you on a wednesday night.
nico is fast asleep beside you, and you have to wiggle out of his embrace to reach for your phone.
"hello?" you ask groggily. you don't check the caller id, but you wish you had when your father says your name enthusiastically into the phone.
you want to throw up. what does he want?
"listen, kid. I know I don't call enough, but Johnny is a huge hockey fan. I was wondering if there is anyway that you could get tickets since your boyfriend plays for the devils?"
"how did you find out-" you asked, half-shocked he still has your number saved, and half-shocked at the sheer audacity he has to ask you for a favour for one of his step-sons.
"I saw on the news, kid. now, I would really appreciate if you could do this for your father-"
you want to berate him. if he has the time to read those useless gossip pages, why hasn't he come to see you or even called just because?
you don't even realize nico is awake, but he takes the phone from you.
"excuse me, sir, but your daughter has an early day tomorrow. she needs to go. she'll call you back, if she wants."
he hangs up and turns to you, eyes soft in the light of the lamp he turns on to see you better.
"oh, schatz," he sighs, pulling you into his lap and wiping you tear-wet face.
you're sobbing, but you need to stop. he doesn't need to see you like this, not when this was the behaviour that made your dad leave your mom.
he pulls at your fingers that are stifling your cries and kisses each one of them delicately, "let it out, liebling."
he hates that you think he's going to leave you. he hates what your father has done to the way you think, and he hates that your hurting.
seeing you cry makes something primal and angry stir in his chest, because you deserve all of the good things in the world and more.
it frustrates him that there is nothing for him to do, no one to punch - well, maybe your dad - and all he can do is be there for you.
between the conversations about why you're so guarded and the way you pull back whenever your relationship progresses with him, he knows.
he knows your scared, but he's so determined to make you see that he's so willing to do anything for you, and your future.
"I promise you," he whispers when you calm, only hiccuping slightly, "we will never make your parents' mistakes."
★・・・・★・・・・ ★・・・・★
i ran out, crying, and you followed me out into the street...braced myself for the goodbye...then you took me by surprise, you said, "I'll never leave you alone"
"why didn't you talk to me about this before hand?" he huffs, setting down his mug.
you can feel something jittery and hot floating a milimeter above your skin, incasing you in the want to retract, to leave.
your stomach is empty and you want to vomit. you can't look at him, not with frustration on the tip of your tongue.
"I didn't think you needed a say in my career!" you exclaim, and the hurt on his face makes it hard to breathe.
"I would like to know what's going on with my girlfriend, especially if she has to travel every month for work!" he rubs his temples, "we hardly see each other as is-"
"I need to support myself! I would love to quit and be a trophy wife, but forgive me for needing financial independence in case you leave me!"
you scream that last part, and tears are starting to sprout in your eyes. this is so stupid, but there is no part of you that can shake off that needling feeling that he might go.
nico gapes at you, trying to unpack everything.
you shake your head, fingers trembling as you stand.
"I'll give you some space." you have no where to go, maybe your sister's house two hours away by train, but you can't stand the tortured look on his face.
you run out, ignoring his calls of your name until he catches you on the street.
his fingers loop around your wrist easily, and you want to shake them off because you can't bear having his gentle touch now and losing it later.
"I'll never leave you alone, schatz. you know that. so don't walk out on me, please."
you hang your head low; you love him so much, but it's so hard.
you're so afraid to lose him you're not letting yourself love him.
you tell him so, and his face crumples as he takes you in his arms.
you whisper promises to each other under the streetlights, to never leave each other and to communicate better.
from then on, you believe everything he says.
★・・・・★・・・・ ★・・・・★
you made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter
nico is watching you from the kitchen, because your youngest sister forced you to sit on the couch and gave him a dirty look that had him following her into the kitchen to help with the drying.
she notices the smile on his face: soft, completely unguarded and full of admiration.
she sighs. maybe you are in good hands after all.
when you called a month ago to tell her that nico brought you to switzerland on a whim and you didn't panic, make an itinerary and freak out, she almost choked on her water.
you who bared your teeth at the unknown, who always needed a plan?
he made you so carefree. it makes her relieved that you have him now, because she saw how bad things were when your mother was depressed and you were balancing school, a part time job and watching all of them.
she was too young to understand anything then, but she wishes now that she had behaved better, understood more, just to take a pound off of the heavy burden you carried.
"y'know, I think you're making her a rebel."
"what?" your boyfriend laughs at the younger girl, and she nods seriously.
"she came late today, and she only fixed the flowers once. that's crazy improvement."
"hmm." he's smiling at you again, while you laugh at something one of your brothers' had said. she relishes in the fact that he can hardly take his eyes off of you.
"she's had to fight for us her whole life," this gets nico's attention, "and she's had to fight for herself. we were always here, but we were too young to understand the weight she carried for us."
"but now," she feels oddly emotional, the unwarranted guilt she has from simply not understanding dissolving in her throat, "she has you to fight for her."
you, her sweet sister who wasn't grown and was forced to take on more than any kid did, finally had someone in her corner.
you could afford to be careless once in a while now.
★・・・・★・・・・ ★・・・・★
+ you are the best thing that's ever been mine
you are undeniably sick: runny nose, shivers, a cough.
calling into your job for a day off, you sleep in until your phone shines 2:37 PM.
nico hears your stirring, and comes in. he smoothes your hair and kisses your red nose.
quietly, because he's afraid your head hurts, he hands you a bowl of soup and reties your hair for you.
he fusses, the captain side of him coming in as he fluffs your pillows and rub your shoulders.
you can't remember the last time someone looked after you when you were sick.
so maybe it's the delirium and the fact you can't really breathe, but you give him a loopy smile (the Advil was kicking in).
"you are the best thing that's ever even mine, handsome."
he flushes and rolls his eyes affectionately, and cuddles you close.
your statement still stands when he inevitably gets sick half a week later and becomes a whiny baby.
you love him so, so much.

Gear Shift Failure | MV1, LN4
Ships : Lando Norris x presenter! Reader , Max Verstappen x presenter! Reader
Genre : Fluff , Angst
Sub tags : Mutual Pinning , She fell too early , He fell too late.
Summary : A new f1 presenter and journalist has entered the paddock and she brings chaos along the way. And as competition looms , will the current Champion be as fast outside the track?
Face claim : Sofia Wylie
A/N: Upon receiving many requests, here’s the continuation you lovely goblins 🤍. Also I am still continuing the Clash of Champions ~ i promise (finals end this week!!)
Part 1.
You fought the smile that was forming on your face, as you re-read your conversation with Lando from yesterday.
It has already been a week since your interview with Lando, yet you somehow found yourself in constant communication with the young British Driver. You weren’t going to deny that you enjoyed spending time and talking to him. And maybe going out on dates with Lando would do you good.
“ Ok, so I have a friend and she has a dilemma”
You suddenly broke the silence in the room. You were in your designated office inside Sky yet again, but this time you had the older drivers lazying around your space. Some with a book in hand — while the rest just played on their phones.
“What’s your dilemma muñequita? “ Fernando asked as he set down his phone, giving you his entire attention.
“Not me Nando! My friend” you exclaimed at the Spanish world champion who was lounging on your couch still munching on the chips he found in your stash.
“Mhm… yes your friend. Continue, sweetie~ “ Lewis urged you to speak, as he settled further into your couch right beside Fernando
“ Yes, let the girl speak! What is it Liefje” Nico added as he clutched your oversized plush into his arms, a half-opened book dangling in his hands.
“My friend likes this guy right? The two of them are very close and they share this connection that to others seems more than a friendship- and at one point my friend thought that he felt the same with her a—“
You once again didn’t finish your sentence when Nando interrupted you once more.
“Really? What happe-“The Aston Martin driver was invested
“LET THE GIRL SPEAK!”
“FERNANDO! “
“MATE, I SWEAR!”
They all collectively scolded the Spanish driver — prompting him to laugh and raise his hands in surrender
“Ok. So my friend thought that the guy that she liked was starting to like her back. But not a week later, the guy that she liked was rumored to have a girlfriend. And he started to avoid my friend…. This was 3 months ago by the way.” You finally finished your story, and now you look at their reactions
Fernando, Lewis, Nico, and Valterri had all fallen into thinking.
“So how long is the guy and the new girl going out? And how does your friend feel” the quiet Finnish driver gently asked you.
“Oh, officially for a few weeks, I guess? My friend felt hurt of course. But it gets less painful overtime… uh she said that to me”
“Oh. That’s good for your friend, liefjie! By the sound of it she slowly moving on” Nico uttered, a sense of comfort rushed through you
“How is your friend now, Is she feeling ok?” Lewis asked empathically
“ She’s great, and you’re right Nico. She slowly moving on.”
“So what’s the problem muñequita?”
“Well, another person had asked her out and she feels guilty because she doesn’t want to use him to get over the guy she likes” you explained to the 4 older drivers.
“WHO ASKED YOU OUT !? Young lady tell us this instance!” You didn’t expect Lewis’ outbursts — you expect Nando to react that way, but not Lewis!
“It’s not me!!” You tried to bluff once more
“Y/N, we know it’s you” Nico explained with a smile, while you pouted as they all chuckled.
“OK FINE! It’s me” You utter as you gave up the act.
“So I assume the guy you were talking about was Max, right?” Valtteri asked, finally speaking.
“I’m very obvious aren’t I?” You said defeated, as you stood up from your seat and wedged yourself beside Nico.
“Everyone with a pair of eyes knew something was between you and Max, “ Nando said as Valterri nodded in agreement.
“Young lady, you haven’t answered my question. Who asked you? Is it another driver?” Suddenly you felt like you were on the hot seat — as all their eyes focused on you with eyebrows raised. It felt like you were being questioned by your dad.
“Uhmm yes, it’s another driver… it’s Lando” You said as you picked on your nails. A shy smile graces your face.
“ He finally had the balls to ask huh?” Nando snickered
“What?? You also knew?!” You asked flabbergasted. You surveyed the room and saw all of them snickering amongst themselves.
“He did ask for my permission, sort of… it was just jumbled words that didn’t make sense then” Lewis explained as he visibly got less tense.
“Lando asked permission from you?? What are you, my dad?” You asked amused, come to think of it Lewis was sort of a father figure to you. Being that he always supported and guided you ever since the start of your journey in Formula 1
“Well, you sticking around me like a toddler in your first year here doesn’t help, sweetie.” Lewis could only laugh at the memories of him taking care of you. Memories like Lewis driving you around, giving you food, telling you to talk to others.
“And what are you guys? My uncles?” You asked the 3 drivers, who only shrugged and nodded.
“Well, should I say yes to Lando then?” You asked dropping all pretense and just laying it all out
“It wouldn’t hurt to try, Liefjie” Nico advised
“Yeah try something new, Dear. Max had his chance and he didn’t take it. So go have fun with Lando!” Fernando added, patting your hand.
You set your eyes on Valtteri — who only nodded his head with a smile.
“ You have our approval, and we’ll support your decision, sweetie! Do what will make you happy” Lewis said comfortingly

You knew that you shouldn’t feel jealousy or anger, but you couldn’t help but frown as you saw Max and Kelly acting all sweet. It still stung that you didn’t mean anything more to Max, all the memories you’ve made you’ve looked at rose-tinted, shattered.
So you strengthened your resolve and focused all your thoughts on your work. You then remembered that you had a date with Lando. You went back to your conversation a while ago
Then slowly, without noticing, a smile bloomed on your face at the thought of Lando Norris.
One date with Lando turned into two, two turned into three, then four and five.

User4 Lando????!!
You were progressively forgetting your feelings for the Dutch Red Bull Driver . How can you not? When Lando Norris had been showering you with so much love and affection.
Then finally, Lando asked you to be his girlfriend. You said yes. You were ready to let someone else in your heart— and this time you were sure that there was someone to catch you when you fell.

charles_leclerc someones being braveee
carlossainz55 Landino! Are you and y/n ready to share to the world then?
The two of you kept everything on the low, yet you didn’t keep it a secret — only very select few knew. Lando and you wanted to enjoy what you two had to yourselves first. Everyone outside your circle thought that the two of you were just friends.
But that didn’t stop either of you from posting online.
Max saw your posts and the feeling of something clawing in his stomach resurfaced. He didn’t like it one bit. It has been 2 months ever since he found out that Lando held feelings for you. And it has been a month since the two of you properly spoke. And if he were honest to himself, Max missed your presence dearly.
Kelly didn’t have anything in common with him. And most of the time, he grew bored and he just wanted to crawl back to his sim and drive constantly.
Max missed talking about everything and nothing with you. He missed how you shared his interests and how the two of you explored every one of them. Max just missed… You.
The longer he stared at his phone screen, the deeper his anxiety rose. He didn’t like what he saw, not one bit. He needed to do something about it.
***
You are lounging in your Boyfriend’s condo, dressed in a hoodie that you stole from his dresser. Soft music played on the centralized sound system.
Lando was inside his streaming room live on Twitch, while you made your way into his kitchen and started to cook dinner for the two of you. Lando did love your cooking.
Then suddenly your phone rang and to your surprise it was Max calling. Without any further thought, you picked up the call.
“Hello, Y/N?” You heard Max’s voice on the line, the usual butterflies present in your stomach were now absent. You didn’t feel the bubbling sensation you used to feel when Max unexpectedly called.
Then suddenly, you heard Lando shout nonsense, probably at his best mate. A smile grazed your lips as you heard your boyfriend’s shout in the distance.
“Oh, hi Max! What’s up?” You asked curiously, balancing your phone on your shoulders as you took out the ingredients from the fridge.
“Where are you, right now? No one’s answering the front door” Max’s reply startled you. Why is he at your house all of a sudden?
“What? You’re in my house… uh why?” You asked, a tone of confusion present in your voice
“It’s Wednesday, Movie night remember” You were filled with even more perplexity for the Red Bull driver. The two of you haven’t talked one one-on-one for nearly a month, not even through chat. Movie nights with Max were long forgotten.
“Max…. We haven’t had movie night in 3 months.” You replied carefully.
“Uhm, we can start again?” You sensed the hopelessness in his voice.
“I’m sorry Max, I’m at Lando’s right now… and I don’t think your girlfriend would appreciate it if we suddenly continued movie nights”
“You’re at Lando’s? Y/N its already la-”
“Max I think it’s best if we kept our distance… yeah?” You suddenly interjected, clearly stating your boundaries.
“What?! Why?” Max asked incredulously
“Max … you have a girlfriend! I don’t want to create any misunderstandings. And I don’t want Lando to have doubts … considering that I used to have feelings for you before. But we can still hang out … but in a group setting”
You didn’t mean to spill everything and tell Max of your past feelings for him, but you found yourself relieved of letting it out of your chest. Now you could truly say that you have moved on.
There was silence before Max had finally answered. “Oh… ok. I understand”
“Bye Max” At that you ended the call, leaving that part of your past behind.
The sound of the call ending echoed in Max’s head. The words you’ve said slowly dawned on him.
You liked him? Since when? Suddenly understanding and relief filled Max. He realized that he liked you more than just a sister. He didn’t look at you as just a friend. He suddenly understood the emotions that he was so afraid to explore before. What he felt for you was something so strong that it scared him. It wasn’t like what he felt when he was with Kelly, no. But with you, He felt vulnerable, He felt like everything was on the table because you understood him so well.
Then suddenly Max froze, as if cold water was dumped all over him. You said liked … past tensed. You didn’t like him anymore. Max was suddenly filled with dread, chest hurting as if tons of weight pressed on it.
He had his chances in making you his, and his alone. Max Verstappen maybe the fastest driver on the grid , but outside the track — he had failed to switch gears from making you from a friend to much much more. He had lost you and it was all his fault.

Meet cutes NYC
In which during the Miami race, a certain power couple gets interviewed and finally reveal the details of how they met.
warnings: none.
childhoodsweetheart! reader x lewis hamilton
“Excuse me, sorry are you two a couple?” the man walks up to them, catching Lewis and especially his wife by surprise.
“We are,” Lewis smiles proudly
“Could you guys please tell me the story of how the two of you met?”
Lewis’ face instantly lights up and y/n laughs at her husband's reaction, not remembering the last time she had been asked that. “That’s a long story-, oh my god wait I think I've seen you guys on uh Insta right?"
"Yes, we go around mainly New York to ask couples how they met," the interviewer informs. “We’ve got time,” Lewis shrugs, “as long you're alright with it?” He looks at his wife knowing well y/n was always the private one about her personal life.
“Is it for your channel or something?” y/n asks politely, still a little hesitant about the idea.
“We go around all over New york but also around the world asking couples how they’ve met,” he shows them their instagram page. Y/n's eyes widen at the large following count and is satisfied about their legitimacy.
“Sure why not, but again it’s a long story,” she laughs leaning her head on her husband’s shoulder. “Do you want to start us off?”
“We met when we were eight, I believe y/n was new to the area at the time. Anyways, I actually was on the playground by myself, didn’t have any friends at the time but this one comes along and walks up to me and compliments me because she saw me in a newspaper. We were at the time one of the very few coloured people in our school. We then became inseparable and very close with my family. She even used to look after my brother when I was away during races.”
“Almost every holiday break I would come down and watch him race, that's actually how I met Susie and Seb and Nico,” Y/n adds.
“She used to always buy me these chocolates from the news agency for my birthday each year and we would split it, at the time because I was putting all my money into racing. But anyways, when we were fifteen, I asked her out to become my girlfriend, I was also racing more but like we would always write letters and email to contact each other. I would always get her to fly over and spend time with me during holiday breaks so we could spend more time together, hang out. When we graduated actually, I asked her to marry me,” he bashfully said, rubbing the back of his neck as his wife blushed at the memory and covered her face with her hand.
“Really?” the interviewer exclaims.
“Yeah,” Lewis nods, “you know like I didn’t want to be apart from her. She you know was—, is my everything. She believed in me when no one else wouldn’t.”
“So what happened?”
“Well you know at the time we were so young and both so ambitious in our own rights. I think what was going through my head at the time was that we had so much to discover about ourselves and definitely at that age the relationship with the media and Lewis’ career on the rise wouldn't have worked. Also, the fact that I wanted to do so many things as well for myself would have held Lewis back, and I knew deep within me that I would have been selfish for that," Y/n continues. "You know he means so much to young kids of colour, to fans of formula one, etc and that was that. So you know we talked about it, cried and yelled about it but in the end it was very mutual and we both understood. So we broke it off—”
“Sorry, but I remember her saying you know after all the crying and yelling that I was gonna date around actresses and models, marry a model slash actress and stuff. But I remember clear as day I said to her that I wasn’t going to marry anyone if wasn’t her; and she thought I was joking—”
“Well I mean hello he was what seventeen/eighteen at the time. Also what he said was just a coincidence,” y/n cuts in.
“Nuh. Nuh, I didn’t realise it till after I married you,” he teased. Y/n rolls her eyes at his cheesiness that has the interviewer smiling from cheek to cheek.
“Anyways, long story short, we met through Nicholas, Lewis' brother. He was in Uganda helping out a charity I helped organise with a friend where we were building a school. From memory he posted about us to get some views for donating,” Y/n summed it up.
“The moment I saw it I immediately asked Nico for her contacts because I just wanted to meet her. We were in contact for about a month before I invited her to a race, we then immediately hit it off like and we dated for a year then got married.”
“Wow,” the person breathed, “so you’ve known each other since you were eight. What would you say is your favourite thing about each other?”
Y/n chuckles as Lewis can’t help but laugh at her too.
“I think for me,” Y/n starts, “is how giving he is and how much attention he pays. Like you know even back when we were kids he would always try to get me small things like for example when I visited him in 2003 he gave me this necklace here actually,” she shows off the simple pearl pendant necklace, “because I mentioned once that I really liked pearls because from memory were talking about gemstones. But like even now he’s just so thoughtful and stuff.”
“For me it’s her kindness, and she’s always looked past first appearances cause like for me personally I was never anyone’s first choice. Whether that was games or-, or on the playground—, she chose me first and that meant so much. You know, even with my brother, she didn’t think much of it, she was never embarrassed about being seen with him, playing with him and making sure he feels included like that’s when I knew I was in love with her,” Lewis explained.
“Well, thank you guys so much!"
"no worries man, take care."

Missing You | Nico Hischeir
summary: when you and Nico haven’t seen each other for a month his teammates pull off the surprise of a lifetime when you both needed it the most.
request: yes/no
warnings: sexual themes, p in v, swearing, slight exhibitionist kink?
word count: 2.68k
authors note: welcome to the fourth instalment of the 1000 celly, and what I think is our first one with a mclaren driver. I have missed writing for this boy so much! this is also the first smut of 2024 if I'm not mistaken! we also aren't going to acknowledge that this has taken me like four days to write this...
You knew you were in love with Nico.
It was hard not to be, he had been your boyfriend for the last four and a half years and you didn't want anything more. When you were with Mclaren you met him when he was on a trip to Belgium you two met during a party. You had just won the first race of your career but the moment you saw him, the world all of a sudden didn’t matter to you. But by the end of the night you couldn’t get enough of him.
Yet as your careers both got ahead of you and it meant that the only real time you found yourself together was a three week period where you were both off in the summer break. But after this year it felt awkward for you both. You were coming up to the Austin leg of the season and with that it meant that you were back in the states. It seemed that both of you let your careers take hold of your lives, so even though you had a week off you didn’t know if Nico wanted to spend the time with you.
That was compounded by the fact that you guys had a stupid argument, and when Nico ended the call with how he thought it would have been best if you didn’t come in your week off.
Nico had been having a rough week so when the video came up of you and Lando being interviewed by a child, it was the cherry on top of the shit cake. Not even your FaceTime call could have taken him out of it “there you are love!” You smiled as you saw the picture connect “finally found some time away from Lando?” Nico grumbled as he hadn’t even finished the video when you called.
Your face dropped as you furrowed your eyebrows “you okay?” You trailed off as it only seemed to piss him off further “why do you have to go get all flirty with your teammate?” The accusation made you freeze “okay back the fuck up hotshot.” You warned as you raised your hand signaling to him to stop.
It wasn’t often that you two fought but after months without sex - or any variation of it - you were both frustrated “I did not flirt with my teammate or anyone because I’m in love with you!” You were close to hanging up as you glared at him “you’ve got a funny way of showing that.” Nico laughed as he shook his head.
You were doing alright at the moment with your racing, many podiums and even a win in the season that could all but have been called Max’s. But with one DNF and one DNS coming right after each other, you were now stressed “look don’t make your team playing like shit right now my fault.” You grumbled not realizing that the comment had slipped out “if we’re so shit then maybe you shouldn’t come!” With that Nico hung up leaving you with the reflection of your shocked face.
As much as you wanted to apologize for what you had said, you were still upset that he could have ever questioned how you felt about him. It was clear the entire world noted how both of you were currently struggling not only in your sports but also how you just seemed to be out of it. You missed your boyfriend but as fans would have you sign random pieces of devils merch as the announcement of your relationship upon your win in Austria two years ago came with a whole new group of fans.
So when you were sat in the comfort of your hotel room and got the message from Jack asking if you wanted to come to a devs game before the race in Vegas, you knew you couldn’t say no. Not when this was attached.
Jacky Hughes: he misses you, even if he won’t say it
The text made your heart break especially after you watched Nico get injured. The Prudential Center was a place you found comfort in but this time as you sat amongst the crowd all you wanted was him. Nico’s name was proudly stapled on your back as you were in his jersey and a plain black cap as though it was going to be enough to hide your identity.
And it did until the final intermission just as the boys got back on the ice “she still not talking to you?” Nico had called you earlier that morning but as you were on your flight you had no way of answering it “I just miss her.” Timo couldn’t help but place his hand on the boys shoulder as he felt bad.
More than half of the team knew that you were here and Timo decided he could no longer leave Nico in his misery “look up there.” Six rows up sat next to Ellen and Jim Hughes, was you.
Nico felt his jaw drop as he locked eyes with you “hi.” You mouthed like he could even see what you were saying “love you.” Nico did the same thing as you as he placed his hand on his heart as you blew him a kiss.
That final period everyone swore that there was a rocket under Nico’s ass as he scored two different goals, both of which you knew were dedicated to you as the boy would smirk in your direction. It seemed that both of you were ready to finally see each other but as he got one of the stars of the game it left you waiting with Jack “thank you for getting me here.” You smiled at the boy finally taking your cap off as you realized you weren’t hiding anymore.
Jack brushed it off as it was more of a favour to the boys than something for you guys “just hope he behaves.” You had mentioned your apprehensions on coming because of how you two fought “have a feeing we both will.” You nodded as you watched Nico’s head stick out from the crowd “schatzi!” He called out acting as the cue that Jack needed to leave “have fun.” The boy patted your shoulder as he walked off to his parents.
It was only a few seconds until Nico was in front of you “hi.” He smiled noticing how you fidgeted with your rings just like you used to when you guys first started dating “you played well tonight cap.” The nickname had his mind fulling with thoughts, all as inappropriate as the previous.
His hand locked with yours as he clicked his tongue wanting you to stop “I’m sorry I called your team shit.” You were the first to apologize as your voice was soft not wanting his teammates to hear you “let’s go talk in the car.” Nico offered as he slid his arm over your shoulders letting your rest your head against him.
It had been a while since you were in New Jersey as your summer break was spent in Europe “how did you keep the boys quiet?” Nico asked as he locked his hand with yours over the center console “it was actually their idea.” You smiled revealing what the surprise was “Jack said you missed me.” You teased letting out a giggle as the boys cheeks turn red.
Nico couldn’t help but nod as he sighed “you and Lando are good friends and I know you love me.” The hockey player had found himself repeating the apology that he tried so many times to send you “I seriously think you’re on a great team.” You hated how badly you spoke about the team when Nico stood by your side through everything “can we agree we were both wrong?” The air finally felt light as the car came to a stop when the light turned red.
His eyes stared into yours as he swore that there was nowhere that he’d rather be “only if it means that I could kiss you.” Nico mumbled as it made you smile “never need to ask me that.” You shook your head as the boy dropped his head to the side as he let his lips touch yours.
A fire built up in your belly as his hand grazed your cheek finally stopping as he tugged on your hair “Neek.” You moaned feeling him smirk against your lips “I know baby.” Nico sighed having to pull away as the car behind them hooted as the light went green “so fucking happy to have you back my sweet girl.” He mumbled letting his hand rest on your thigh as he smiled.
Being captain of an NHL team came with a bunch of privileges. One that Nico never realized that he was meant to appreciate was an expensive apartment with a view that could have been worth a thousand bucks “this will never get old.” You gasped pressing your fingers against the glass as you watched New Jersey continue to move beneath you “feels great getting to watch you in it.” Nico’s breath fanned against your skin as the hairs on the back of your neck stood up.
It was as though your entire body melted as his hands gripped at your hips “even in all of this?” You joked looking down to the fact that you were fully clothed “would prefer if you were just in this.” His fingers tugged at the jersey on your shoulders.
All of a sudden an idea popped up in your mind “what’s stopping you pretty boy?” Your tongue darted out of your mouth as you turned to face him “you gonna let me?” Nico raised his eyebrows in surprise as he hooked his fingers in the belt hoops of your pants pulling you closer to him “you get whatever you want my little star.” You cooed pushing yourself onto your tippy toes as you wrapped your hands around his shoulders.
Nico grinned as he swayed your hips against his “fuck I need you schatzi.” His groan was caught as your teeth grazed his lower lip “don’t make me wait.” The fight was now long forgotten as he undid your belt “god you’re soaked.” His eyes blew up at the sight of the wet patch on your panties.
He helped you out of your pants “do something please.” You begged as his eyes had you feeling like he had you fully undressed “put your hands against the window then for me.” Nico moved your hair to the side of your neck.
As you listened to his command his pants grew tight around his boner “looking so good tonight in my jersey.” The boy cooed as he turned his attention to the flesh of your ass squeezing your skin between his fingers “just tonight?” You held back a moan as you wiggled your ass in front of him desperate to get a reaction from the boy.
That behavior was cut as he lay a quick slap to your skin that was quickly followed by a soothing motion “you’ve got such a pretty ass.” He mumbled to himself picking up the band of your panties only to let it snap again as it made you jump “I need you Nico.” You begged letting the cool glass hit your forehead “you have me here schatzi.” His hand palmed your ass.
It made you whimper as your jaw went slack “need you to touch me.” Your tone was sultry as your body tensed “you just a cock hungry girl tonight?” The boy was amused as he took the time to unbuckle his belt as you bit your lip in anticipation “asked you a question pretty girl.” His voice pulled you from your focus as you turned your head to face him “want you baby.” Was all he needed to hear as he dropped his suit pants letting them hit the floor.
Nico missed this view as you practically oozed with anticipation “god I’ve missed this cunt” His fingers traced on the lace on your underwear before he hooked his fingers into the waistband leaving you nude from the waist down “you don’t have to wait much longer pretty boy.” You smirked hearing the gasp that left his lips as you knew that he was palming his cock.
The boy dragged its swollen head over your slit spreading his precum over your clit “don’t tease me please.” You begged as your knuckles turned white as your fingers tensed against the window “how do you think they would feel seeing how needy you are for me?” Nico teased as he kissed your neck as he slid his cock into your cunt “so big.” You gasped as the boy gave you a moment to let your walls stretch as his cock throbbed inside you “moove p-please.” You moaned feeling his hands squeeze your hips.
He felt his head drop back as you whimpered “let yourself scream f’me baby.” Nico nipped at your earlobe as it made you squirm “they can’t hear you from up here.” He reminded you of where you both were “you want people to watch you fuck-me!” You yelled the last part as Nico hit your ass once more.
Nico growled from behind you as he had gotten carried away by the fact that that you were still in his jersey “deserve to see who you belong to.” His possessiveness made you clench your cunt around him “you like it when I call you mine huh?” You nodded as you cried out “belong to you cap.” If Nico didn’t have so much planned for you he would have came on the spot but he used everything in his power to not coat the walls of your cunt in that moment.
The sound of skin slapping echoed in your ears as the sight of you in his jersey made his mouth water “hated thinking about those boys so close to you.” He grunted in your ear as his hands trailed up the inside of the jersey “you just look so fucking good in this.” As your hair was pushed to the side it had his name proudly displayed on your back.
You moaned as you nodded “’s all for you neeks.” You no longer seemed to care that you were against the window as your legs began to shake “I’m so close.” You announced as your hand trailed down to your clit as you began to rub at the sensitive nub.
As the boy realized what you were doing he swatted your hand away as he continued the assault on your clit “be a good girl and hold it f’me.” He clicked his tongue as he wanted to push you just a little bit further “i-i can’t.” You swore that tears were filling up your eyes as you whimpered “just a little bit longer.” He practically pleaded wanting to push you as close to the edge as he could.
Sweat made your hair stick to your skin “I need to-” your plead was short lived as he cut you off “let go for me.” Nico mumbled as his cock throbbed your body shook as you came “fuck fuck fuck!” You chanted as you pressed your head against his shoulder as your cunt clenched around him “there it is pretty girl.” Nico cooed as he kissed your temple as his orgasm came shortly after yours.
Nico watched your chest heaved as he slid his cock out of you “you were so good.” You mumbled turning to face him as you smiled “the night doesn’t have to end schatzi.” Nico cupped your cheeks as he pecked your lips “take me to your room cap.” He didn’t need to hear anymore as he threw you over his shoulder making you squeal as he laughed.
The door to his room shut and with that the rest of the events planned for you two weren’t going to be seen by New Jersey. Because as fun as that was, being tangled in the sheets was far more favourable.

DRIVER X TGD HEADCANONS | LEWIS VER.
pairing: lewis hamilton x driver!reader
warning: swearing.
author’s note: next part of the headcanons series !! here’s the sir lew lew version since he was the second most requested after the seb one :)
headcanons masterlist
• • • • • • •
:: Just like with Seb, she used to have a poster of him in her room as a child.
:: She met him when she became part of the Mercedes Junior Team as she was the first driver to join.
:: Both him and Nico gave her a lot of advice, and followed the championship series she entered.
:: He was one of the first drivers to congratulate Y/N when she graduated to Formula 1.
:: When she first moved to Monaco, she almost bought an apartment in the same complex as Hamilton and Rosberg, but opted for a different one in the end.
:: She’s his biggest admirer and always gives him the credit he deserves.
:: Lewis invited her to go skydiving with his team and she politely declined, saying: “You want to fucking kill me, Hamilton?”
:: They’re both “alone” in the sport so they have a natural gravitation towards each other.
:: Lewis gave her one of his purple helmets, because she complimented him on it. He didn’t even want to trade for one of hers, he just wanted her to have it.
:: He dedicated an entire Instagram post to her when she won her first Grand Prix.
:: Y/N has “accidentally” said that Lewis is an 8th time World Champion.
:: Fans love their interactions, because Lewis is always laughing around her and they don’t get to see that goofy side of him too often.
:: She stood on the podium with him when he won his 7th World Championship, and cried because of how honoured she felt to share that moment with him.
:: Lewis is not a regular grid dad, he’s a cool grid dad (we all know who the uncool one is).

beneath oak trees | nico hischier
⚜ based on the song, 'beneath oak trees' by dylan gosset. ⚜ nico x woc! ⚜ word count: 2.1k ⚜ warnings: none. ⚜ hope you all enjoy xx
Don't be fooled by the whispers of the winds from the North They'll just leave you where you lay, broken, beaten on the floor My dear baby, these words are pouring straight from the Lord You've got a diamond, I got gold, do we really need much more? ⚜ nico and natalia hadn't told the world they were together, let alone that they were engaged; when they told the world they got married. and truth be told, the world didn't particularly enjoy the fact that he was married, had had a girlfriend for four years, and that she was not the typical 'wag' a hockey player would go for. yet, she couldn't really get down with the presumed assumption that the world and hockey community had for them. she knew nico didn't sure as hell care, and that was what mattered the most.
the two of them particularly enjoyed their little bubble they had created those four years. they knew reality would set it, and it would be different once they announced it but they wanted to be free, and free to live and create the life they had envisioned together.
at the end of the day, nico had natalia and natalia had him; and that is what mattered the most. ⚜ Don't be fooled by the voices that we're hearing from the town 'Cause all that matters in the end is that we're famous in this house Open up all the walls, let the wind just blow us out Take us away to a place where we couldn't live without ⚜
the first home game of the season rolled around for the two and natalia finally had the chance to get to a game that season. since returning from their honeymoon had been working longer hours at her law firm as an immigration lawyer, and spending even extra time being a translator for the law firm; as she was originally from spain. despite the long hours, she adored it. absolutely adored it all and everything that came with it.
but now here she was walking through the concourse with her best friend from law school, when she noticed some people staring at her. and then realized they were laughing and talking, as they stared. her best friend monica noticed, and quickly pulled her into the line in front of them. "don't even think about it." monica warned, trying to get her to not think about what they could be saying. they both know that those girls knew who natalia was, and her nico graphic t shirt was proof enough.
"they're just jealous." monica whispered as they began their descent back to their seats in the lower portion of the arena. she had always enjoyed watching games from this level and loved the feeling of being a part of the crowd. the two watched intently as the game went on, natalia's eyes never drifting from number 13.
throughout the game, her eyes drifted to around the arena. feeling nervous as she thought about people noticing her and whispering about her. she knew what she would be called. whore. gold digger. puckslut. you name it. yet, she knew she was far from it. she twisted her rings absentmindedly, and monica picked up on it. she knew her friend did it when she got nervous. court. intense meetings with clients. driving through rush hour.
natalia excused herself to run to the washroom, once the horn blasted to signal the end of period two. she quickly made her way toward it, and got in line. she waited about four minutes before she heard a girl laugh loudly behind her, and she nonchalantly turned to look behind her - pretending to look at the crowd size near the concourse. she begrudgingly made eye contact with the girl-girls, who's faced turned to realization. natalia turned back around and found a stall open.
she shut it and took a few seconds to breathe deeply, she was ready to go home. she texted monica, who said she'd meet her by the washroom. natalia then texted nico, and said she'd finish the game from home with their 6 year old beagle 'oscar'. hurrying out, she met up with monica and the two were gone.
-
she felt a soft kiss on her temple, around 11:35 and she opened her eyes to nico leaning over the couch from behind. "hi hun." he whispered softly, before moving around the couch to sit down. his arms instinctively found their way around her. she melted into him, and she instantly relaxed. "you ok?" he questioned, giving her time to open up on why she left the game early. she shrugged, not too sure. she turned and looked up at nico, "im sorry." she said with a small frown. nico shook his head, "no apology needed. i just want to make sure nothing horrible happened. that's all." he said worriedly.
she licked her lips nervously, before sighing. "people recognized me," she began but paused when nico sighed, "and were clearly whispering about me and pointing at me." she confessed. nico had feared this would happen, and that people would not accept his relationship status. but he ultimately didn't care. he was married to the absolute love of his life, and nothing would change that.
"nothing that anyone says, will ever change how i feel about you. nothing will ever change the fact that we are married and that were stuck with each other for a very, very long time," nico began but paused as she smiled. "all that matters is us. nothing can deter us out there nor in here. our place. the place that we feel most at home, and most comfortable, where we can be our truest selves," he paused again as she turned to rest on him. her eyes shut softly, "i want you to think about the oak trees," he began and the two were transported back to their wedding day. "think about how perfect the day was, the sun just right, the weather absolutely perfect, and the oak tree that swayed in the light wind. delicately taking us in its hold, and accompanying us in the biggest day of our lives." he hummed and she smiled widely.
their wedding day was absolutely perfect. they had married in savannah georgia after taking a trip their during the off season before heading to disney for a few days. oak trees seemed to be the tree of the south, or at least in savannah. nico could picture them getting married underneath them, which was a bit before he had proposed. he remembered seeing it clearly, as he took pictures of natalia. she looked absolutely radiant and perfectly, sunkissed that week.
oak trees had become a symbol of comfort, stability, and strength.
natalia smiled thinking about the infamous oak trees, and how they grounded them during their wedding. oak trees were present from the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. creating a beautiful backdrop for their memories.
"i wish we could run away there sometimes, wish we could have a permanent piece of it." she said without thinking as she drifted off. nico looked down at his wife, as she drifted off and got to thinking. he didn't think it was that farfetched.
⚜
Well then, just take my hand and be with me, my dear We'll stay for good Well then, just promise me a life that's green from leaves Beneath oak trees, here, beneath oak trees
⚜
one season down, natalia thought as the last game of the season and playoffs came and went. she hadn't been able to process it with nico, as she had been swamped at the law office. her most high profile client needing extra counseling, and that meant she took weekend trips overseas in order to accommodate the client.
when she got home from her second to last weekend trip for the case, to a surprise. she walked into the townhouse they were renting, and called for nico. her eyebrows crinkled as he didn't respond, but assumed he was playing a game with some of the guys from the team. oscar greeted her at the door, and natalia picked him up and headed to the kitchen. she paused briefly as she entered, seeing a bouquet of light purple peonies, her favorite chocolates and a bottle of champagne. she was dumbfounded. what were they celebrating? their anniversary wasn't for another week.
natalia curiously opened the car that had her name in calligraphy, and she about died on the spot. "nico?!" she yelled out, before feeling arms wrap around her from behind. she looked up at him as she turned around. "what does this mean?" she questioned, trying to process.
nico only smiled widely, as he chuckled. "you know exactly what it means, shatzi." he said kissing her forehead.
"did you take my words literally?" she questioned as she remembered what'd she said at the beginning. "did you really get us a house there?" she questioned and he nodded. she felt as if she could cry. this would be the first property they would have together, that they owned, as a couple.
the following week they were walking into their new off season home, and that had natalia jumping up and down like a little kid. every room oozed with history and an elegance that so many new houses lacked. nico trailed her as she took in her surprise and her muttering design ideas. they ended in the master bedroom and stepped out onto the balcony. her heart melted looking down at the backyard that was filled with greenery and blooming flowers. and then her eyes fell on the oak tree. she turned toward nico with a small smile.
it was the little things for her, that made her emotional.
"come on." he mouthed, holding out his hand for her to take. they walked outside and out into the backyard, towards the oak tree. he allowed her to step underneath it first and he took a quick photo as her back faced him. "this doesn't feel real." she turned around and he said, "oh its real, love." before he wrapped his arms around his wife.
"we promised each other a life full of peace, vibrance, simplicity and so much more," nico began, "a life that's green from leaves." he paused, "beneath these very trees. symbol of strength, grounding and steadfastness." she finished. reciting the very line from their officiant.
"i love you mrs. hischier," he grinned, "and i love you, mr.hischier." she grinned back before the two closed the distance between each other.
⚜
When we grow old, we'll find love in every single place I'll put your flowers in a pitcher 'cause I can't find a vase But for now, sit with me at the altar of our grace The sky looks pretty but I swear to you, it's jealous of your face
Well then, just promise me a life that's green from leaves Beneath oak trees, here, beneath oak trees
⚜
natalia woke up on the morning of their first wedding anniversary, to a bouquet of flowers on her side of the bed, a card, fresh iced coffee and a butter croissant. she heard nico from downstairs as played with oscar, who had been flown out with a friend who was on their way to disney.
she yawned softly, sitting up in bed. she reached for the card and opened it carefully, making a mental note to put it in their very own memory box, that first began with their wedding day.
she smiled at the first few lines that were in swiss, and her heart soared over his sentiments.
'forever the love of my life, forever my greatest treasure. who will always come before everything else in this chaotic world, who i fall in love more and more with each day that comes and goes. who never fails to put a smile on my face, who knows exactly what to say and when. who i forever will worship, my love. the strongest woman i know. who i promise to love for the rest of time, cherishing the big and the little things of my time with you. who i cannot wait to grow old with, and watch our passions, love, and hearts soar to new heights. finding joys in the highs and lows of life, and in the places we visit and cherish.
forever my girl,
nico 'niesch' xx
also, forgive me for not being able to find a proper vase (:
she giggled as she looked over and saw the mason jar that they had picked up a few days ago at a local shop.
she made her way outside and stood at the patio door, watching the love of her lives.
nico caught her gaze after a few minutes and the ever dazzling smile, was plastered on his face once more. she grinned as he waved her over and oscar quickly went to go greet.
the two of them laughed together as oscar went wild for the two of them.
they loved this little life, in their little house that was now a home.
covered in a beautiful oak tree.
hope you all enjoyed xx please like and reblog, if you did !

until forever falls apart | nico hischier
same drill as the cole one, i asked @fantillisdaylight for a player, and this is what became of it. decided this one hurt too good not to share with the masses.
~
nico and his little childhood girlfriend that start dating at 15, thinking it’s them against the world.
the girlfriend who moves away to canada at 16, promises of forever exchanged amidst the careful kisses they press to each other’s lips.
nico joining her in canada, and for a year, it’s perfect. they’re reunited, and filled with we laugh belief that they may actually make it. they made it when she was in canada, snd he in switzerland, so what can truly part them, if not an ocean?
the nico gets drafted, and still, reality hasn’t hit. “we made it with over 3000 miles between us, 800 is nothing.”
he goes to the show the very next season, headed to new jersey bright eyed and full of hope- hope for a long-lasting relationship, as well as a long-lasting career.
very quickly, nico is swept up in the nhl chaos. the media is more chaotic than ever, swarming through latest number one draft pick, eager to see how he’d perform against the very best.
and somewhere along the way, those 800 miles begin to feel like 3000 again. and suddenly there’s an ocean between them again. and suddenly, it’s like nico isn’t even living in the same stratosphere.
“you haven’t called in weeks nico! i’m lucky to even get a goodnight text. what’s happened to us?”
and nico absorbs the question, searching for answer within himself. “what did happen to us?” he asks himself.
and truthfully, he knew. it was a mixture of things, truly, but there was a primary cause: himself. he brought these problems upon them, and he knew it.
“i’m- “ “nico don’t apologize. i know you. i know how you’re mind works. it’s- it’s not your fault. i just think- i swore we were going to make it. but i think- i think we might’ve been wrong.”
and his heart breaks, but he knows it’s the truth. “‘m sorry,” he croaks out, the breaking of his heart audible, even with some 800 odd miles between them.
“me too,” she sobs back, covering her mouth to try and keep her wails in the confines of her mind, at least until they ended the call.
~
they didn’t end the call. they stayed on the phone all night, exchanging sobs and apologies, two shattered hearts trying to soothe one another.
at the all star break, nico flys back to halifax, needing one last moment together, not accepting anything less than ending their relationship in an embrace.
he knocked on her door, (the door of the apartment she had moved into at the start of school- nico missed that. he missed a lot. it made his heart hurt thinking about just how much he missed), fully expecting to have to sleep outside her door (but he’d do that, he thought. he’d do it for her. it’s the least she deserved), but to his surprise, she opened the door.
upon her door opening, he was greeted with a sight that made his heart ache in so many unexplainable ways.
she was there, perfect as ever. hair was a little ruffled, but she was perfect. it was like nothing had changed, but it reality, everything had.
“nico,” she sighed out, tears rushing to her eyes at the sight of the boy who had occupied her heart for so long now (but not forever, a voice taunted her inside- that was over now.)
in a blink of an eye, he crossed the threshold of her apartment (that smelt like her favorite candle, he noted inside his head. oh how’d he miss that smell), wrapping her in his arms. at the feeling of his familiar arms encasing her, she broke, sobs wracking her body once again.
“i guess forever wasn’t ours,” he croaked out, a sob cutting him off from continuing his sentence.
“i guess-“ she started, a sob interrupting her sentence. “i guess not,” she finished, tears soaking the fabric of nico’s hoodie (not one of his old ones, she noted. she knew those fabrics. this- this was new. she didn’t like that. it was just a symbol of the distance between them, literally and figuratively).
a while later, after the couple had calmed down, they sat huddled together on the couch, arms still embracing one another.
“it was good, right?” she hesitantly questioned, afraid of the answer he’d respond with.
“the best,” the boy replied.
and with that, it was like the string that tied them together snapped. the feeling was gut wrenching, that much was true. but over time, their hearts would heal. they’d move on, and one day, could hopefully look back on their time together and smile.
but for now, they’d simply remember each other by the ache deep in their chests, the longing that weighed down their bones, and the broken promises of forever in their hearts.

ɪᴛ’ꜱ ᴀʟᴡᴀʏꜱ ᴀ ʀɪꜱᴋ, ʙᴜᴛ ᴛʜɪɴᴋ ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ ᴛʜᴇ ʀᴇᴡᴀʀᴅ - ɴɪᴄᴏ ʜɪꜱᴄʜɪᴇʀ ❤︎︎
ꜱᴜᴍᴍᴀʀʏ: Nico is playing in IIHF Men’s World Championship and takes a nasty cut to the face. You are apart of the medical training staff for the Swiss Hockey team and end up treating Nico. But not before you nearly pass out from seeing him with all the blood.
ᴡᴀʀɴɪɴɢꜱ: second person pov, discussion of injury, heavily unedited, probably has terrible grammar, I wrote this while really really sick and it sucks im sorry ill fix it when im better
ʀᴇQᴜᴇꜱᴛ: ʏᴇꜱ/ɴᴏ
ᴀᴜᴛʜᴏʀꜱ ɴᴏᴛᴇ: Below the cut there is a picture of Nico from when he first got cut and there is visible blood. If you cannot handle seeing blood for whatever reason. I advise to skip right by the top section of the post below the cut.
Watching Nico glide up and down the ice with the puck at his stick or him being ready to receive the puck from a pass is one of the best things to watch. He is the happiest when he’s on the ice. It is even better when he scores or gets the assist. His passion for the game is immeasurable, just the same as his love and care for his teammates, friends, and family.
You first met Nico two years ago when you first started working with the New Jersey Devils as apart of their medical training staff. Having worked in the realm of sports while in school and being surrounded by athletes it was very easy to connect with the team. Quickly connecting with quite a few of the players it was only a matter of time before friendships developed, some closer than others. Nico happened to become your best friend in the program. The two of you entirely inseparable.
When Nico found out he would be playing for the Swiss National Hockey team for the Men’s World Championship, he did some work and got you on as a trainer. He didn’t want to travel Czechia and leave you back in the states. “Neeks, you really didn’t have to do that, I could go work at the college for the summer and be okay.” Nico shook his head and tsked. “Nope. You’re coming with me. Who else is going to tape my wrists just right?” He was scraping the bucket for an excuse. Nico didn’t even tape his wrists. Rolling your eyes you didn’t argue you back. You just nodded and accepted his decision.
ミ★☆彡
“Nico? How are you feeling about today?” You ask sitting on the edge of the bed while he’s pulling his shirt over his head. You have no lie to tell, you’re a little upset he has covered his toned upper body. “It’s just another game sweets. Nothing to be concerned with.” Nico answers as if he is still playing peewee hockey. “I don’t know neeks, I watched highlights from their last game, they play pretty rough.” You retort twisting your hands. Showing your anxiety.
Nico turned around from where he had been looking at you in the mirror to face you directly. “It will be okay. I promise you.” He walked up to you, grabbing ahold of your face softly. He was hoping to calm your nerves. Since arriving in Czechia your friendship had become more hands on, flirtatious, and a tad possessive. “If i felt an ounce of worry about this game, you would be the first to know. My little trainer.” He assures you and places a kiss on your forehead. “Let’s get going, shall we? You’ve got got ankles to tape and I’ve got ankles to break” Nico grins and holds his hand out for you.
You laugh a little at Nico’s attempt at a sports joke and follow him out the door holding on to his hand.
ミ★☆彡
It was deep into the second period when Nico and a defender clashed on the ice.
As an athletic trainer you’re supposed to be able to take on anything that’s thrown at you. But they don’t prepare you for when your best friend is down on the ice bleeding profusely. They don’t prepare you for when your mind reverts to all the other hockey players who had injuries from skates in the facial and neck region and just how badly they turned out.
It wasn’t until the entire bench of Swiss players are screaming your name that you realize Nico is off the ice and heading down the tunnel.
Reaching for your kit and quickly following after the officials that are escorting Nico down the tunnel to catch back up to them so the Slovakian team trainers are not the ones treating him. “I..I got it from here.” You tell the officials. They nod and head back the other way.
“Is it your face? Is it your neck?” You begin to ask him, but that entices him to move the towel. “OH! No you don’t. Keep that there until I have my stuff ready.” “It’s my cheek” he gruffed out.
It is like a million tons just came off your chest with just those few words. The feeling that your heart may stop at any moment has fled. A cut to the cheek, that’s an easy feat. A cut to the throat not so easy. Upon reaching the medical room, you sit him down on the first treatment table available and immediately get to work.
“You scared me neeks.” Taking a moment while getting his cut disinfected and ready for the sutures you tried to tell him but it only came out barely above a whisper. “I know, you didn’t move. You always move. You’re always out there with in seconds. That’s when I knew it was bad.” He gave an awkward chuckle and reached up to touch your forearm. “But it’s okay sweets. Sometimes we get scared. Like right now I’m scared because, this is going to hurt isn’t it?” He asked honestly giving his staple smirk that your swear he learned from Jack . “Well it isn’t going to feel good Neeks, but if you’re good I’ll give you a reward.” You say returning his a smirk.
“Hey Nico, why do you always play so hard?” You ask finishing up his last stitch. “It’s always a risk, but think about the reward i get after.” “A reward? You don’t always get a reward.”
“Oh yeah i do. I play as hard as i do because if im sore i can convince my trainer best friend to treat me. Which means i have her all to myself for just a few moment, I have happy teammates, happy fans.” He flashes a smile before licking his lips and then biting his lower lips. “And if I’m really lucky, one day my reward will be getting my best friend as my girlfriend. I’ve been dropping not so subtle hints this trip but I’m not so sure they’re working.” He’s standing now at the edge of the treatment table, he’s taken ahold of the waist holding you close to him. “Is that a possibility?” He asks dropping his forehead to touch yours. “I think if you asked her she’d say yes.” You blurt out so fast it’s almost embarrassing.
“Sweets, would you reward me by being my girlfriend?” Nico asks never breaking eye contact, his ton of voice so sincere.
“Yes, Neeks.”

I’m sorry this is very rough, very unedited. I’ve been so sick this week. I’m hoping soon I can rework it and make it much better. Writing for Nico has proven to be extremely hard for me. 😩

Pedri: ‘I wrote to Dani Olmo to come to Barcelona, I wanted to play with him’.
(El Mundo - September 3, 2024)
A smile comes as easily as an assist when he is on the pitch. Even a touch of fine irony sweetened by the Canarian accent. Football has shown Pedri (Tegueste, 2002) its happy face, but also its bitter one in the form of injuries, doubts and malicious criticism. That, on occasions, has made him change his expression and hide the boy who enjoys playing on the beaches of Tenerife, always close to a sea that feeds him.
De la Fuente says you are insatiable, is the dressing room like that?
"Yes, we have talked about it in recent days. We have won the European Championship, but that is over and now we have to go and win the Nations League again."
From the World Cup until practically the Euro you were not with the national team, did you notice any changes?
"Football is usually the same, although it's true that each coach has his own rules. I noticed little change in the group. We still all go together and the rest is left out."
Now there is Nico or Lamine to brighten up the dressing room.
"With them we'll have fun for a while…" [Laughs]
Are they a lot of trouble?
"Some of them are. Ferri [Ferran Torres] gives me a lot, but I put up with it."
What should this team not lose?
"Above all, that fun, because when you have it off the field, it shows on it too."
Does the Canary gene provide tranquility?
[Laughs] "Yes, now there are three of us in the team [Ayoze and Pino] and it is clear that we are more relaxed than the rest."
They also bring a different touch, is that at risk of being lost?
"Maybe a little. Canarian football is about magic, about inventing things, about having fun on the pitch... And it's true that it's being lost because now everything is more robotic and physical."
Morata spoke about the lack of respect towards the players; Raphinha has confessed that he has cried a lot, has Pedri felt unfairly treated?
"Many times people have said things that are not true and that affects you. But, at the end of the day, when you are a professional footballer you know that you are in the spotlight and that people are going to talk about you."
Can you forget about that, do you work to manage it?
"In my case, I am a calm person, but there are people who have a very bad time and have to turn to professionals. You have to reinforce yourself in your family and in the things that make you happy in order to forget what people say."
When you were 19 years old, everything was praise and awards, did you understand when they became criticisms?
"My family warned me that it could happen at any moment. Nobody is prepared for criticism, but I dealt with it well because of my family's advice. It's true that there were things I didn't like because they were lies. They didn't tell the truth and that hurts. But you have to know how to be calm."
Years ago you said you were ashamed to become a star, have you lost that shame?
"When sometimes people recognise me in the street, I still feel a bit embarrassed and I don't know how to act. Day by day you get used to it and it goes away."
Is that what makes Pedri seem a bit distant at times?
"I'm not aloof, but sometimes I get embarrassed because I'm a little shy at first and it shows."
You confessed that you didn't want to be like other footballers, I don't know if that's advice you give to all your young team-mates who join Barça or the national team.
"I tell them to be themselves on the pitch, that they don't have to look up to anyone."
For years you were asked to get more into the box, and now Hansi Flick comes in and pushes you back….
"It's true that with Flick I'm playing further back, but it's a position I like. I'm in constant contact with the ball and, at the end of the day, what a player wants is to have the ball and the more the better. All the coaches ask me to go forward, but Flick also asks me to organise."
How did he explain this change of position to you?
"He wants me to stick to the '6' to get the ball out and, when we have it, to get up there and score goals and assist."
It is proving that it is compatible with Dani Olmo...
"At the Euros we laughed because we heard that we couldn't play together, that we were wondering who was going to start... We knew we could and, in addition, we get along very well and we understand each other on the field."
Do you think it was a somewhat forced controversy?
"If they tried to play us off against each other, they didn't succeed because we joked and teased each other about it, saying, 'No, we can't play together. Sorry.' We knew that maybe after the summer we would get together and it would be perfect."
Did you ask him to come to Barça?
"Yes, I wrote to him to come, that I wanted to play with him."
How has the atmosphere changed with Hansi Flick?
"With Xavi, everything was criticised, everything seemed to be going wrong, but now everything is going more smoothly. He is not criticised so much in the press and he has brought a sense of seriousness, although he is also a bit of a joker and is close to the players."
How close?
"A lot. Although he may seem like a robot and is very serious, he has a heart and knows how to lead a group. He is capable of giving a hug to anyone who needs it or having a chat with them."
And the debate about Barça's style, where does that leave us?
"It will always exist. We are still in control of the game, we have the players to do that, although with nuances, like going more into space."
There are some teammates who seem happier: Lewandowski, Raphinha...
"Those at the top like to play, have more chances and feel much more comfortable."
When you got injured at the Euros, did you ever think that someone had jinxed you?
"It's true that at that moment I thought about why everything had happened to me, what bad luck... But then I remembered a comment that they made to me to look at it on the bright side, because it was a fortuitous move and that I was physically strong. I took it like that, knowing that as soon as I recovered I would be back to 100%."
During all that time outside the pitch, where did Pedri take refuge?
"It's always been in my family. But I've tried a lot of things, pilates, cold water in the morning... I know my body better because I started very young and, whether you like it or not, it shows. Now I've found something that works really well for me..."
Tell me the secret...
"With Julio [Tous]'s specific work at Barça, strength training with bands, pulleys, etc., I feel very good. Then I continue doing pilates, although my teacher is now injured and can't teach now, and I continue with the hyperbaric chamber, cold water in the mornings, we control sleep... These are things that we have been adding to the routine."
What couldn't Pedri live without?
"Football. It's everything in my life. It's what I enjoy the most."
I thought you were going to tell me about the sea?
"That as well [smiles]. Having the sea nearby is something essential for me, as it is for all Canarians. It gives me peace. In Tenerife, I used to go to the beach a lot with my mates to play football and that helped me to relax and disconnect."
Can you still do that?
"It depends on which beach [laughs]. I have to choose it carefully. It's true that I do it less than before."
When are you happiest?
"With my family and now my little dog Nilo. My mother wanted to call him Thor, but I looked for other names and she let me choose. My parents live with me in Barcelona, although my father goes back and forth to Tenerife to take care of my grandmother."
And where does this habit of taking a penalty against your father when you win something come from? In Berlin you had to take it with your hand.
"It's a routine we have. I hope to win many titles so that I can stop. My father was a goalkeeper and he always told me that I had to get to the Third Division to beat him. Now we tease each other with that."

percy jackson x f!reader
chapter thirty-three: run, girl, run!
That night, you sneak up to the Big House again, when all is quiet across camp. The balls of light floating around the camp store allow you to sneak past without falling down the hill, grateful to see the lights of the house still on.
He must have been expecting that you couldn’t just get in bed and fall asleep with so many things on your mind. You climb the steps of the porch, and slide in slowly through the open doorway. It’s warm again tonight, the air is hot and humid, but inside the Big House it feels homely as ever, cool. Chiron stands, reading through an old and tattered book in his hands. He looks up when you walk in.
“Hi,” you say.
“It’s very late,” he replies, snapping the book shut. “You want to know if I’ve considered what you asked, don’t you?”
You nod. It’s not like you’d asked anything else. “But I want to know what happened to Chris Rodriguez, too. How Clarisse found him. Why he went down there.”
Chiron sighs, like he’s tired, and waves a hand to the couch. You don’t hesitate in taking a seat.
“It started after you left with Percy for the summer…”
You spend the remainder of the night flicking through all the books in the house, on Ancient Greece, the gods, Daedalus mainly. Chiron talks as you read, of how Clarisse blew up an entrance to the maze somewhere in the country, of how it simply moved a few yards away. He talks of Chris going insane from what he saw down there, from what Luke’s men had him do. Chris currently resides in the basement, the only place he feels safe enough without panicking to high heaven. He refuses to come out, but at least nothing can hurt him down there. Clarisse was scarred from the maze itself, and vowed never to step foot in there again. It makes sense—the few hours you were down there with Percy were creepy enough.
“I dreamed of Nico, and Percy did too. He’s trying to raise the dead, and someone is guiding or helping him or something,” you offer over a cup of hot tea and The Odyssey. You close the chapter on your mother. “He misses Bianca. Makes sense, but…he needs help.”
“The boy is troubled,” he agrees. “He has been led astray.”
“We can get him back. He doesn’t have to end up in trouble. You thought Percy was the only child of the Big Three who would make a mess of things. Then Thalia turned up, and left. But now there’s Nico; do you really want him running loose, led astray?” Chiron tilts his head. “We all heard about the ‘dangers’ of the children of those three. Although I really doubt Percy could wreak havoc. He misses his mouth when he eats pizza.”
Chiron laughs, but it’s missing something. Does he think of all your failures in the past? Is that why he doesn’t want you to go on this quest? You wouldn’t blame him, because all you’ve done so far is evade your own death and cause other people’s. Not directly, but your choices spurred theirs. At least that’s how it feels.
“I know you think I’m not right for this, but I need you to trust me.”
“It isn’t that you’re not right for this,” he deflects. “It’s that things in our world are getting worse, and sending heroes off to fight these battles have more risks than before. You know what happened to Chris and Clarisse. I’d like to avoid that from happening to anybody else.”
“Well, sometimes we can’t change fate. What’s meant to be is meant to be.”
It’s like you’ve shot him. He stills, blanching. Chiron recovers his expression quickly, and gives you a tense smile. “You should go, now. It’s been a long day for you.”
After breakfast, Chiron called a council meeting. You and Percy headed down together, chatting about what it could be. A distraction, obviously—you both knew what it would be about. You met up with everyone in the training arena, compared to the usual meeting at the ping pong table. Mrs O’Leary chewed on a giant dog toy, bounding around the arena as you discussed the fate of everything.
Juniper the tree nymph accompanied Grover, Travis and Connor sat beside each other, Charles Beckendorf and Silena, and Lee Fletcher, a son of Apollo. Quintus and Chiron, by the sword racks, led the meeting at first, passing over to Clarisse and Beckendorf for input.
Finally, they turned it on you. Clarisse, addressing you properly for the first time, demanded your thoughts. “What do you think about this?”
You inhaled, sitting up straighter on the bench. All eyes turn to you, listening intently. “I think Luke knows about the entrance to the Labyrinth, and he’s probably known for a while. Think back years ago to when Percy was poisoned; the monster came out of nowhere, and so did Luke. The maze moves—maybe he lost it for a while, hasn’t used it since. But he’s definitely trying to get back inside camp, now, using the maze. He was here longer than anyone, wasn’t he? He probably knows it like the back of his hand.”
“The cave entrance has been there a long time. Luke used to use it.”
You raise an unimpressed brow to Juniper. “You knew about this? And haven’t said anything?!”
Juniper’s youthful face turned green in embarrassment. “I didn’t know it was important. Just a yucky old cave.”
You see Chiron rub his hand over his forehead in stress, like he can’t believe what he’s hearing—Luke’s been doing this under his nose for years it sounds like.
“She has good taste,” Grover defends.
“I wouldn’t have paid any attention, except…it was Luke,” she blushes further. You wave your hand in her direction, somewhat agreeing. Luke might have been good-looking, but he’s still a psycho.
Grover huffs. “Forget what I said about good taste.”
Quintus polished his sword as he spoke. “Interesting. And you believe this young man, Luke, would use the Labyrinth as an invasion route?” He raised his eyes to you.
“Definitely,” Clarisse came to your defence. “If he could get an army of monsters inside Camp Half-Blood, just have ‘em pop up in the middle of the woods without having to worry about the camp’s boundaries, we don’t stand a chance. He could wipe the place out easy. Probably been planning it for a while. He’s been sending scouts into the maze. We found one. You know…”
“Chris Rodriguez,” you mumble.
“Ah, the one in the…”
“The one in the what?” Asks Percy.
Clarisse glared at him. “The point is, Luke has been searching for a way to navigate the maze. He’s looking for something.”
You don’t miss a beat. “Probably Daedalus’s workshop.”
Percy shifted beside you. “The guy who created the maze.”
You hum in response. “He’s considered the greatest architect of all time. If the legends are actually true, his workshop should be in the centre of the maze. Except…the maze always changes so…where’s the centre meant to be. If Luke managed to find it, he could easily convince Daedalus to help him navigate his own creation.”
“The thing is,” adds Clarisse. He wouldn’t have to stumble around watching for people or traps. He could navigate and go anywhere he wants safely. First to Camp, and then—well, Olympus.”
The arena turned very silent. Mrs O’Leary even grew quiet. Beckendorf straightened up on the bench, running a strong over his face. “Hold up. You said convince Daedalus. I thought Luke was—kicked off a cliff? Isn’t Daedalus dead? Shouldn’t Luke, in theory, be very dead?”
Your jaw drops. How stupid can you be? You chide yourself, looking at Chiron for some guidance. He’s watching you too, but doesn’t offer any sort of help.
“In theory, they both should be dead. Extremely, extremely dead. Uh—but Luke is not. Definitely not. And Daedalus…well, nobody really knows. People have said that towards the end of his life, he went down into his maze and stayed there. Others have said different. There are a lot of uh, disturbing rumours, stories. But long story short, he might still be down there.”
You’re aware of Travis staring at you from the other side, but you can’t bring yourself to look. You’ve barely spoke to him thus far, for being so caught up in everything. “We have to go into the maze. We have to find this workshop before Luke does. If Daedalus is alive, we can convince him to help us, not Luke. If, for some miracle Ariadne’s string still exists too, we make sure it doesn’t fall into Luke’s hands.”
“Why don’t we just blow up the maze?” Came Percy. “Block Luke off from the outside?”
You give him a gentle look. “Clarisse tried. The maze just moved.”
“It’s not so easy, stupid,” Clarisse snapped. “We tried in Phoenix. The best thing to do is to stop Luke from navigating it. Which means, we get down there first.”
“We could fight,” Lee said. “We know where the entrance is now. We can set up a line of defence and wait for the army to come through. We’ll be ready, waiting.”
“We will certainly set up a defence,” agrees Chiron. “But Clarisse is right. The best thing to do is for our side to move first. If they come through here…we won’t have enough to defeat them.”
You stand. “We have to get to Daedalus’s workshop first, then. Find Ariadne’s string, stop Luke from getting it.”
“But if nobody can navigate it,” Percy reached for your elbow, getting your attention. “What chance do we have down there?”
“I’ve been reading about it. I know more than we did before. We’ll be fine.”
“From reading about it?”
You clenched your teeth. “Yes.”
“That’s not gonna be enough.”
“It’s gonna have to be.”
“It isn’t!”
“Are you gonna help me or not?” You exclaim. You’re suddenly aware of everyone watching, listening to you argue. Mrs O’Leary violently ripped the head off her toy—EEEEEK.
Chiron cleared his throat. “First thing’s first. We need a quest.” Your heart stopped. “Someone must enter the Labyrinth, find the workshop of Daedalus, and prevent Luke from using the maze to invade.”
“Well,” Clarisse waved a hand in your direction. “We all know who should lead this. She’s got my vote.”
Much to your surprise, there was a murmur of agreement. Under the watchful eyes, you shift on your feet, hip to hip, uncomfortable, edging back to near Percy. “But you’ve done loads for this, too. You should be a part of it.”
Clarisse shook her head. “I’m not going back in there.”
Travis barked a laugh. “Chicken, Clarisse? Don’t tell me you’re scared.”
She got to her feet, cheeks aflame, and visibly shaking. She pointed in Travis’s face. “You don’t understand anything, you hear me? I’m never going in there again.” She stormed out of the arena.
Travis sheepishly voiced, “I didn’t mean to—”
Chiron raised his hand. “The poor girl has had a difficult time. Now, do we all agree who should lead this quest?” Everyone nodded, every hand went up. You scarcely believed your eyes. Travis offered you a tiny hint of a smile, albeit a nervous one. Chiron, at last, turned to you directly. “Very well. My dear, it’s time you visit the Oracle. Assuming you return to us in one whole piece, we will discuss what will happen next.”
You’ve been up in the attic before. You spent the whole month before the summer break trying to get the mummy to talk to you. You don’t stop to offer assistance to Clarisse in calming down a frantic Chris in the basement, crying his heart out. Instead, you place your hand on the banister and trail up the four flights, to the attic where the Oracle sits waiting. You wind up the narrow set all the way to the top, an attic full of relics of years passed from heroes who passed through the same walls.
You walk slowly over the dusty floorboards, to the window behind the Oracle, and you watch for a little while the figures in the distant training arena, one figure in particular pacing nervously. Percy, pacing up and down the arena. You absentmindedly pull on the ends of your hair, before moving back and turning to the mummified girl, who seems to know what you want before you open your mouth. The room grew darker, and dark green fog spilled from the Oracle’s mouth. She came to life in a way you’ve seen only once before, this time just as scary as the last when she’d wandered out of the house. Her eyes open, dark, broken holes, and she spills the prophecy you’ve waited so long for.
You shall delve in the darkness of the endless maze,
The Traitor, the Dead and the Lost one raise.
You shall rise or fall by the Ghost King’s hand,
The child of Athena’s final stand.
Destroy with a hero’s final breath,
And may lose a love to worse than death.
Cheery.
You want to grab the nearest baseball bat and scream. The child of Athena’s final stand? Worse than death? Why, oh why, did nothing work out for you? Frustrated tears burn your eyes. You’re unable to stop them, a sudden fear at your line, undoubtedly. You find yourself lowering to the floor, where you sit for a while, trying to think. You can’t make anything positive out of this one. Somewhere downstairs, the floorboards creak, and you jump to your feet, dust scattering in the air. You wipe your hands across your cheeks ridding them of tears and give yourself a minute to calm down before you tear out of the attic, back down to the arena. You must look a little out of touch, or something.
“My dear,” Chiron says. “You made it!”
You find your spot next to Percy on the bench, collapsing heavily and stare at the floor.
“Well?” Asked Quintus.
Turning your head ever so, you look at your best friend, who sits wide-eyed and waiting for you to say anything. “I got the prophecy. So…I’ll lead the quest to find Daedalus’s workshop.”
Chiron scraped a hoof against the floor. “What exactly did the prophecy say, my dear? The wording is important.”
Taking a deep breath, “Uh…well—it said you shall delve in the darkness of the endless maze…the dead, the traitor and the lost one raise—”
Grover perked up. “That’s Pan!” He proclaimed. “It has to be!”
“With the dead and traitor,” Percy, ankle touched yours. “Not so much.” I’m here, his touch said. I’m listening.
“And? What is the rest?”
“You shall rise or fall by the ghost king’s hand, the child of Athena’s final stand.”
The murmur of excitement dropped. Everyone looked uncomfortable. Because you are the daughter of Athena attending.
“Hey, we shouldn’t jump to conclusions!” Silena urged sweetly. “You’re not the only child of Athena, it could be anybody!”
“But who’s this ghost king?” Beckendorf asked.
You had your suspicions, alright.
“Are there more lines?” Asked Chiron. “It doesn’t sound complete.”
That’s because it’s not. “Um, something about destroy with a hero’s final breath.”
“And?”
Feeling suddenly tired, you stand to make your point. “Look, I have to go in. I’ll find the workshop and I’ll stop Luke. I need help, though…” He must have expected it. Was that not why he was pacing, earlier? Percy’s bright eyes did not waver, set on your own. “Will you help me?” The last line worried you, but doing this without Percy worried you more. You didn’t think you could do it without him.
He didn’t even hesitate. “I’m in.”
You smiled. “And Grover. You, too. You need to find Pan, and we’ll need your help.”
“I’ll pack extra recyclables for snacks!”
“Two companions,” assured Chiron. “Are you sure on your final choice?”
You nod. You want to take Annabeth, too, but you’re not risking more than three ever again. Not this time. Not when the prophecy talks of a child of Athena’s last stand. You won’t do it to her. “Mhm.”
“Very well. Let us adjourn. The members of the quest must prepare themselves. Tomorrow at dawn, you will enter the Labyrinth.”
You tried not to cry again, you really did. But the lines were going round and round in your head, and the sudden hurry to go make a new weapon was nagging, and you couldn’t find your spare flashlight, and packing your things made you doubt you could do this. Which was why when he called out from the doorway, you melted. You paused looking through the wall of books for anything that could help you along the way.
“Knock knock?” He tapped on wood.
You turn to him, putting down the books on the side. “Oh, hey. Didn’t hear you.”
“You okay?”
“Just trying to do some more research, find something useful. Just in case. But, uh, nothing can seem to agree on anything. So…yeah. I know a bit but I just feel like we need more.”
He closed the door with a small thud, coming closer. “We’ll figure it out. Don’t worry so much.”
It’s all you ever do. Does he know you’re always on high-alert? Does he know you’re overthinking?
You shift on your hip, rubbing your hand over your arm. “I wanted this so badly.”
Percy’s bright green eyes keep you balanced, and he smiles reassuringly. “I know. You’re gonna do great.”
You’re so grateful to him. “I’m just worried I’ve made the wrong decision. Maybe I shouldn’t have asked you to do this. Or Grover.”
“Hey, we’re your friends. We trust you. We wouldn’t want to miss this.”
You shakily exhale, throat closing up. Uh oh. “It’s just…” you almost gag as the words get stuck. Percy’s smile fades, replaced with a concerned frown.
“What is it? Is it the prophecy?”
You gulp. “I’m sure it’s fine,” you utter quietly.
“What was the last line?”
You squeeze your eyes shut before the tears can hurt anymore, and without any thought, you hold your arms out to him. And he comes right to you, just holding you. He’s warm and a solid figure in a shaky world. Percy’s hand awkwardly pats your back, and you can’t help the way you squeeze your arms around him.
“Hey,” he mumbles. “It’s—it’s okay.”
You’re shivering. He smells soapy, and cotton fresh, yet distinctly boyish. You shove your face into his shoulder and hope he doesn’t feel the tears soak in his shirt.
“It sounds weird,” you muffle into his shirt. “But I know this is right. I need you and Grover with me. It feels right.”
“Then don’t worry about it,” he sighs. “We’ve had plenty of problems before and we solved them all, right? We can do it this time too.”
“This is different. I don’t want anything happening to you.” You slip up. “Or to Grover. Or me.”
“Try not to worry so much,” he pats your back a final time. “We’re gonna be alright. We’ve got each other.”
When you finally part, Percy avoids your gaze, trailing his fingers across the maps laid out across the table you stand beside. “About your prophecy…the line about a hero’s last breath—”
You wipe your nose. “You want to know which one of us. I don’t know, Percy.”
“No, something else. You didn’t give us the last line, earlier. Hero’s breath should rhyme with the last line. Was it something like—did it end in death?”
You stare with hot eyes at the book on the table. “You should go, Percy. Pack your things. I’ll see you tomorrow, okay?”
He stands quietly for a moment, before putting his hands in his pockets. “Okay,” he says. “Just…try to sleep. See you tomorrow.” And he leaves you standing there to think about what you’ve done.
It’s easier said than done. You manage archery that afternoon, and news spreads pretty quickly of what’s coming tomorrow. Annabeth brings you back some food from dinner, and helps you pack your bag. Your siblings wish you good luck, Malcolm saying he’ll pray for you. Annabeth provides you with an extra flashlight, and then Clarissa, which makes three. You don’t know how long you’ll be down there, she says. It makes your stomach churn even more. You set out your outfit for tomorrow and pack a good few. The brief time in the maze the other evening was cold, so you lay out a pair of jeans, a tee and a jacket.
You lay in bed that night and raise your hand to pull back the curtain above your head, watching the stars. It might be the last time you ever see them.
When morning comes, you find yourself gearing up to go, after breakfast, backpack over your shoulders, accompanied by Annabeth past the cabins and into the woods, where the entrance last was. People had set up tents and would take it in turns to watch over the entrance, should anyone come through. Percy and Grover already stood waiting when you turned up, Chiron and Quintus standing with terse smiles.
“Good morning!” Chiron tried to be upbeat, but you couldn’t help the nerves. You couldn’t even smile. “You’re all here, at last.”
You want to tell him you’re shaking to your very core with nerves. You don’t.
“Take care,” Chiron offered. “And good hunting.”
“You too,” Percy nodded.
You follow after Percy and, after a few brief words from Chiron, a goodbye from your friends, and a last look at the woodlands, you find yourself facing the darkness.
“Goodbye sunshine,” said Grover miserably. You trudged forward after Percy, dropping down into the eery space that was the uninviting maze. “Hello rocks…”
It’s not unfamiliar in feel, only in…sight. Where the walls were brick last time, and cool to the touch, they’ve changed to smooth stone, dewy and threaded with hanging vines. Under your feet, tough ropes of them tangle and lead down the pathway.
Beside you, Percy breathes out slowly. You hear Grover’s teeth chattering, and your flashlight provides a good look at your billowing breath in the cold hall. You’ve inside, now, fully—the opening above has disappeared, closed up, and your friends are gone. You’re alone in here, the three of you, and already the claustrophobia is suffocating.
“Alright,” you start, sounding more positive than you feel. “Anyone have any suggestions, first, or can I just lead the way?”
“Lead the way!” Grover prompted. “Because I haven’t any idea what we’re doing.”
“That’s lovely, Grover, thank you for that.” You take the first step in the darkness, voice echoing. You shine your flashlight around, doing a quick circle of your surroundings.
“Oh, damn, it’s like something from a horror movie.”
“And thank you for that, Percy,” you smile sardonically. “Keep your eyes peeled for any clues.”
“This isn’t the crystal maze,” he laughs.
“I think I’ll give you over to the monsters personally.”
You really tried to keep your place in the maze. Left, left, straight on, down the slope, left again…you only got about a hundred or so metres before you were hopelessly, completely lost. Nothing looked at all as it had last time, as if you’d entered a completely different part of the maze. You backtracked following your memorised turnings, but stopped at a dead-end; the maze had changed completely in such a short amount of time. It was scary, and you could feel anxiety threatening to swallow you up, suffocating with every turn. Because not only were you terribly lost with a jittery Grover humming a tune every five minutes, but you’d forgotten about the threat of monsters around every corner, and the possibility of getting split up down here.
“So, new idea,” you voiced. The three of you stopped for rehydration, the tunnel growing warmer the further you walked. “I say we stick to the left wall. That way we aren’t getting split up, and we’re not losing contact with the wall itself, so it cant physically change.”
Percy nodded, raising his hand to your head and dunking you in light spirits. “Good idea.” He quickly lost his sense of humour when, shortly after voicing the brilliant idea, the left wall literally fell away, the bricks disappearing as if they were never there. “Well then.”
You kept walking the long hallway, changing from that of a metal container to a red-brick chamber, with holes in the ground every few steps. It was like playing a dangerous game of hopscotch, except you really didn’t want to relax. At the end of it you entered a round room, with eight different tunnels open and looming branching off the main circle you found yourselves in. Behind you, you watched with your own eyes as the entrance changed from red brick to yellowing, floral wallpaper and rotting wainscoting groaning quietly. Queasiness irritated you. You ran your hands through your hair with a stressful sigh.
“Which way did we even come in?” Grover hummed uneasily.
“Just go back. Turn around the way we came.”
Except, now it had changed, everything blended into one, a huge confusing mess, and nobody could decide on what to do or where to go. You swept your flashlight over the eight tunnel archways, like train tunnels, but none of them offered any differences…at first glance, anyway. Finally, you closed your eyes and stopped the flashlight—opening your eyes, you’d stopped the light on the left-middle tunnel. “That one.”
Percy entered your line of sight, looking unsure. “How can you be so sure?”
You shrugged. “Deductive reasoning.”
He gagged on a laugh. “So you’re guessing?”
Readjusting your backpack, you nodded to the tunnel and took off. “Just come on.”
You’d never do anything by chance again. The tunnel soon got so low and cramped that the concrete walls pressed against your shoulders your hips, bent over and trying not to hyperventilate. Unfortunately, Grover wasn’t doing the same thing. His erratic breathing happened to be the loudest thing in the tunnel.
“I can’t stand it anymore,” he whispered. “Are we nearly there yet?”
You had to admit that you were getting fed up with it as well. Percy remained quiet and composed—once, he smacked his head on the ceiling and bit back a series of words.
“We’ve been down here, like, five minutes,” you offered. “Calm down.”
“Why would Pan even be down here anyway?” He rambled. “I mean, look how dark it is! This is disgusting. What does the god of nature want with a place this dank? This is the opposite of wild!”
Just when the tunnel became so narrow you were about to call it quits, it spilled open into a huge room full of old mosaic tiles in golds, reds and blues, like something from an old Greek book in the Big House. And it was Greek—upon closer inspection with the tiles closest to you, they showed a myriad of images of the gods: Aphrodite in a white chiffon, all done up pretty; your mother in battle, wearing all gold; Ares in feast, at a table drinking dark wine. You leaned in closer, running your fingertip along the pictures.
“This is beautiful.” You straightened up. The ceiling, though dirty and dark, glittered in gold and silver, and an ornate three-tier fountain sat empty in the middle of the room.
“What is this place?” Asked Percy, tilting his head back to look up. “Ancient Greek?”
“Looks like it. Kinda reminds me of Olympus, the last time we were up there.”
“Before you guys came to camp,” Grover joined you, looking around. “We went up to Olympus in winter, before the solstice. Only the grounds but…it was amazing. Looked a lot like this.”
“How can it be here, though?” Asked Percy, “it’s so…out of the blue.”
“The labyrinth is like a patchwork blanket. It grows itself, decorates itself—it doesn’t end.”
“You’re making it sound like it’s alive.”
“It basically is, Percy. Look around.”
“Can we stop talking about it being alive, please?” Begged Grover. A groaning noise came from the tunnel before you. “Oh no,” he moaned.
“Alright,” you said, “onward.”
“Down that way with the noise?” Grover grimaced.
“Exactly that way. Things are looking older so…maybe that’s the way to Daedalus’s workshop. Since he’s old and…whatever. Shouldn’t the workshop be in the oldest part of the maze?”
Logically, it made sense. Literally, it didn’t. The maze didn’t abide by any rules of thumb. The maze soon went back to playing with you (and your sanity) as it turned into modern caves decorated in spray paint, and then a restaurant-esque room full of gleaming mirrors. Every few feet, the maze changed, the tunnels shifted, and the floor beneath your feet turned from cement to metal and back to cement again. Through a wine cellar Dionysus would adore and out into a basement, you were slowly losing your mind. It didn’t matter how much you backtracked or memorised, the maze just didn’t care, and kept changing, changing, changing. At one point, standing in a wooden warehouse, you could have sworn you heard voices on the floor above, but then again, you’d been down here for far too long.
The first skeleton you found appeared far too quickly for your liking.
“Oh, man!” You waved a hand in its direction. “Should we consider this a marker? We’re so far into the maze we’ve got dead bodies?”
Grover gagged. “Milkman!”
“What?”
“A milkman,” he reiterated. “They used to deliver milk.”
“Thank you, Mister. Obvious,” Percy smirked. “But that was like…a million years ago. What’s he doing down here?”
You shrug. “Some people just wander in and get lost. Like us, I guess. Some probably come exploring on purpose and never make it back. In fact, like a bazillion years ago the Cretans sent people in here as sacrifices.”
Grover gulped. “He’s been down here a loooong time.” The skeleton’s hands were frozen clawing at the wall, like he’d died being dragged. “And it smells of monsters down here, too.”
“Well, they’re probably everywhere down here.”
“Yeah…sure smells close, though.”
“We can’t just abandon ship, guys,” you try, “we need to head deeper into the maze. There’s definitely a way to the centre, we’re just going about it the wrong way.”
Percy cleared his throat, prompting your attention. “Maybe there isn’t a right way,” he suggested with a shrug. “I mean, it is a maze, and you said it’s always changing. Maybe the workshop moves with it?”
You hum, and try hard not to think that he might be right. “Nah. We’ll find it. We’re close to something; I can feel it.”
You could, in actual fact, feel the upcoming challenge the way your demigodly instincts always helped you to, like a weird feeling up your spine, a lingering over your shoulders. Your stomach was tightening just as you crawled through a metal air shaft, and came out…
In the tile room. Again.
Getting to your feet with a groan, aching from the constant ducking and diving, you almost yelled in anger.
“We’re just going ‘round in circles!” You yelled and span in one to get your point across. Percy came up after you, casually at first, and then Grover. Percy paled. Grover shrieked.
Spinning on your heels, you weren’t the only ones in this room anymore. You screamed, scrambling to shove yourself behind Percy, back-to-back. You fumbled around for your dagger.
A Greek hero, or what was left of him, sat at the fountain. He wore old armour, bronze and gold, only it was rusted with something you didn’t want to think about. His gold-blond hair lay messed and thick, like he couldn’t stop pulling on it. He lacked an eye, a wound, and looked like he’d been in agony for a very long time. The stuff of nightmares, honestly. A Greek horror.
The personification of struggle.
Percy stiffened at your back. His hand raised and caught your forearm, fingers tight around you, shaking.
“Come on!” A voice like honey drawled, though it was thick with sadness and triumph together. “You guys…what are you doing? You’re going through wrong way, you know. Turn back.”
You couldn’t turn back. You’d already made that mistake. He was trying to confuse you, that’s all. His voice grew louder and more aggressive, more persuasive, and got closer. You tried to block him out, and slow your heart rate. In your mind, you thought of all the songs you loved, humming the lyrics.
“Hey!” You heard Percy. “Leave her alone. Leave us alone.”
Out of the corner of your eye, Riptide was drawn. You really hoped you didn’t have to fight this guy. Though he was obviously an old spirit, or an old and minor god, you didn’t doubt he was powerful. Being down here was a nightmare enough without having to fight.
“Poor thing,” he drawled, like you would a hurt puppy. “Weak, bitter. But persistent. Only hurt lies ahead, you know? You can turn around, now,” he called your name. Percy’s fingers danced along your arm, a distraction. Being under fire made your skin crawl, and the aggression in the hero’s tone had brought on an anxious stomach ache.
Percy raised Riptide. Just when you thought you were done for, a scalding light filled the room, like a floodlight had suddenly appeared. Your heart skipped way too many beats; Grover raised his hand to shield his eyes. When the light died off, you kept your eyes shut.
“Are you causing trouble for these heroes?” A woman’s voice called into the terrible scene. You slowly unclenched your jaw, opened your eyes slowly, and shifted to peek around Percy’s shoulder, ever so slightly inching so you didn’t see the bloodied Greek. She stood tall and proud, beautiful brown curls the colour of chocolate dancing down her spine in a long braid threaded with gold ribbon. The plain, white dress she wore turned to rainbow when she moved, and you thought of oil on a river, the way it moves under sunlight, shimmering. Her milky skin was flawless, and you had the sudden feeling that you knew this woman, somehow.
His voice, mellowed now, shook. “No, milady!”
Liar. You exhaled shakily.
“I see,” she crooned. “Well, you’ll let them be on their way then, yes? You’ll leave them be, from now on? Leave these heroes to me. You’re creating unease.”
The woman turned to face you, Grover and Percy, and made direct eye contact with you first. She smiled, and it was like taking a chill pill, a strange and sleepy calm that washed over you. Whether the boys felt it too, you couldn’t say, but you were glad of it. The anxiety fell away, your heart slowed, and you became aware of the grip you had taken on Percy’s jacket, at the base of his spine, scrunched between your fingers.
“You must be hungry,” she nodded. “Come. Sit with me, let’s talk.” She waved a perfect hand, and the room came to life. Candelabra chandeliers lit in warm yellow, and the dirt fell away from the room. The fountain sprung to life, trickling water, and a pretty table and chairs set appeared waiting, the length of the table filled to the brim with sweet sandwiches cut in small triangles, and tiny plates holding delicately decorated chocolates.
You didn’t realise you’d gotten so hungry. How long hadn’t you eaten for? Time passed so different here, it could have been a whole day, or two. Grover got right to pouring the lemonade, adorned with fresh strawberries, gulping it down like he’d never taken a sip of it before. Understandable, in your eyes.
Gradually, you unclenched your stiff fingers from Percy’s jacket, hand falling away. “Who are you?” He asked, approaching the table.
You didn’t sit like the boys, but instead reached for a sandwich, and then another, and another, and another. Standing opposite each other, you blinked as she spoke with pretty, gentle eyes.
“I am Hera,” she smiled. “Queen of Heaven.”
Ah. That’d be the familiarity, then. Godly hierarchy. You didn’t feel unnerved up close to her, but so much more relaxed than before. She took the pitcher of lemonade from your still-shaking hands with the gentleness of a mother, and you didn’t even stop her from pouring you a glass. You thanked her quietly, and she reached out to tuck your hair behind your ear.
“What are you doing in here?” You asked, lacking formality. Hera hummed softly, before snapping her fingers out of the blue. Instantly, you got cleaned up—your hair fixed itself without effort, feeling cleaner and less sweaty, tied back in a low bun. The dirt abandoned your clothes. The sweat and dirt cleaned off of your face.
“I came to see you, naturally,” she replied. The boys at the table shared a look.
You frown heavily. “I thought—I didn’t think you really liked heroes. At least that’s what I’ve been told.”
Something changed about her, but you struggled to place it. She waved a perfect hand. “Oh, water under the bridge! Because of the little…spat, with Hercules? Goodness, so long ago. I had so much bad press because of one little argument!”
You wouldn’t call attempted murder an argument, but hey-ho. You can’t stop the words flowing out of your mouth. “Didn’t you try to kill him, though?”
Hera laughed, though it wasn’t funny at all. She flicked an imaginary piece of dust from her dress. “Oh, dear, no. Greek myths, am I right? Hercules was my husband’s son by another woman; my patience ran thin, I’ll admit. But Zeus and I have come out the other side, we have an understanding. Especially since that last incident.”
Percy choked on his sandwich, red in the cheeks. You bug-eyed him, a warning. Hera dropped her hand from your hair where she’d been, dare you say it, admiring you. It wasn’t uncommon—your family’s friends and even strangers commented on your luckiness. You wanted to call it more of a curse.
“You mean when Thalia came into the picture?” Percy just couldn’t help himself. Hera’s eyes turned frostily on him.
“Ah, Percy Jackson, isn’t it? One of Poseidon’s…children. As I recall, I voted to let you live at the Winter Solstice. I hope I chose correctly.”
She turned away, like Percy wasn’t worth her time, and her eyes shone like she’d hit diamonds on you. It wouldn’t be a good idea to shy away from a goddess, any of them, never mind Hera, so though you didn’t particularly like the attention or extra care that she wasn’t providing the boys, you didn’t move away. Who knew what dire consequences she’d send your way? Grover spied you looks every few seconds, like making sure you were alright.
A sunny smile plagued her. “Anyway, I bear you no ill will, my girl. I appreciate the difficulty of your quest. Especially when you have old Greek troublemakers to deal with. Brave girl.” Brave, though you hid like a child.
“Why was he here?” You shoved a chocolate in your mouth. “I felt like I was dying.”
“Hmm, he likes to do that. The minor gods…they enjoy causing trouble, scaring young heroes. The minor gods, you three must understand, have always despised the very small roles they play. Some I fear have little love for our Olympus, and can easily be swayed to support the rise of my father.”
Kronos. Luke’s new best friend.
“We have to watch the minor gods. They give lip to Olympus, and yet—”
“That’s where Dionysus went!” Exclaimed Percy. “He was checking on the minor gods.”
“Indeed.” Hera stared at the fountain. “You see, in times of trouble such as these, even gods lose faith. They put their trust in the wrong things. Petty things, should I say. They stop looking at the bigger picture and turn selfish. But I’m the goddess of marriage; I’m into persistence and perseverance. You have to rise above the arguing and chaos. You have to keep your goals in mind, demigods.” Spoken like a proud soccer mom.
“What are your goals?”
“To keep my family together, of course! The Olympians. Right now, the best way to do that is by helping you—the ringleader of the quest! Zeus does not allow me to interfere too much I’m afraid, but once every century or so for a quest I care deeply about, he allows me to grant a wish.”
Like something from a Disney movie. You’re Cinderella, and she’s the fairy godmother.
“A wish?”
“Before you ask it, darling, let me give you some advice. I know you seek Daedalus. His labyrinth is as much a mystery to me as it is to you! But if you wish to know his fate, you should visit my son at his forge. Daedalus was a brilliant inventor, there has never been a mortal Hephaestus admired more. If anyone would know about Daedalus’s whereabouts, it’s Hephaestus.”
You consider this carefully. For anything, you could wish anything at all. But…
“How do we get there, then?” You ask. “That’s what I wish for. I want a way to navigate this maze.”
Hera’s shoulders drooped, and she looked disappointed. “So be it. But you ask for something that has already been given, I’m afraid.”
You blanch. “Huh?”
“The means is already within your grasp!” She spared a look over her shoulder…at Percy. “With him. Percy knows the answer.”
This time, you run cold. Unimpressed, you offer another, “What?” Percy sits up straighter in his seat, fumbling like a fish out of water.
“I do?” He panics.
“But you’re not telling us what it is,” you pry, being careful. “That’s not fair.”
Hera shook her head of pretty hair. “Getting something and having the wits to use it are two different things, darling. I’m sure your mother would agree.”
The floor vibrated as thunder rumbled from high above, reverberating all the way through. “That would be my cue,” Hera beamed. “Zeus is very impatient. Think on what I have told you,” she aimed at you, “locate Hephaestus, and the rest is smooth sailing! You’ll have to pass through the ranch I think, but don’t stop, and use all the means at your disposal…however common they seem.”
She pointed across the room, where two doors had appeared. They flung open, revealing two dark corridors.
“And one last thing,” she clasped her hands together. “Try not to run into any more troublemakers. The minor gods are unlikely to give you an easy time, and, well, I won’t be back. Farewell, my heroes. And good hunting, as they say!”
She waved a hand, and turned into a puff of white smoke. The food and the table disappeared, Grover and Percy falling off of imaginary chairs. The fountain stopped running, the walls turned grimy, and the room became dark again.
All that aside, you were pretty mad.
“What sort of help?…”
“Well,” said Grover. “She said Percy knows the way. That’s something at least.”
You round on your friend, whose cheeks are pink. “But I don’t!” He protests. “I don’t know what she’s talking about. Honest.”
You sigh deeply. “Alright. Whatever. Which way now, then?”
“Left,” said Grover, getting to his feet and hurrying along to the entry. “Because I hear something big coming from the right.”
Percy caught your wrist in his hand. “Left sounds good. I vote left.”
Together, you disappeared into the dark corridor.
AYO what do we think of this one then? Honestly I got a bit stuck, but I think it turned out alright. I had to replace Janus with my imagination (though after the day I’ve had it’s LACKING) because he creepy fucker scares me as much as the cat in the hat does.

✮ a/n: i just know i'm going to fucking love writing these idiots
✮ cw: nothing for this, very very brief mentions of sex but nothing that would warrant a tag, dating apps (ew)
✮ wc: 2.7k
six months after the worst breakup of her life, jules downloads dating apps.
they’re a whole different beast she never thought she would have to navigate. she’s never had to use them before anyway, she’d met max the good old-fashioned way, ran into him at a cafe. literally. but carly encourages her to get out there and explore a little, and so she does.
the two of them sit in jules’ bedroom one afternoon, swiping left and right on guys, judging them based on their profiles and laughing till their stomachs hurt. she’s nervous, of course, she is. but jules is secretly grateful for this, she’s grateful that there might be someone else for her out there if she’s every ready for it again. that the world didn’t end with her only relationship ever.
“ooh, what about him?” carly wiggles her fingers at the latest profile that’s popped up, freshly painted nails glinting in the sunlight. jules considers him.
nico—he’s cute, studies international politics in uni. he’s got good answers for all the prompts. doesn’t seem shady or weird or like he’s hiding a secret girlfriend.
“yeah i think he’s cute,” jules nods and swipes right. a second later her phone screen lights up with bright, bold letters: it’s a match.
“oh!” jules tosses the phone away from her. she doesn’t know what to do next.
should she just tell him straight away that she’s not looking for anything serious? what if he wants a proper relationship? she can’t give him that… she can’t give anyone that.
“i can see you overthinking,” carly scolds her lightly and closes up the nail polish bottle.
“look,” she makes jules turn to look at her and places both hands on her shoulders, “you don’t have to do this if you don’t want to. but if you’re going to do it, go on casual dates and fuck around, then i want you to have fun with it.”
“i know…” jules sighs, “it’s just, it’s a little nerve-wracking.”
“oh trust me, it’s very nerve-wracking! how about we have a code, would that make you feel better?”
jules considers it for a second. “what kind of code?”
“um… let’s see,” carly looks around for a second, searching for something, until her eyes land on pancake, a tiny bear jules hasn’t managed to throw out yet. pancake was a gift from max, sure, but she loves that little bear. besides, she’d been the one to pick him out so really, it’s her bear. “how about, if you need to be rescued, you send me a text saying ‘pancake’? and no matter how late it is, i’ll come get you. i’ll cause a scene if i need to.”
jules giggles at the thought, wonders what kind of scene carly might cause just to rescue her from a bad date. the options are endless and amusing.
“i’d like that, yes.” jules holds carly’s hands in her, careful not to mess up the still drying polish. “thank you…”
“for what?”
“for being a good friend to me. i would have been so much worse off without you.”
carly tuts, about to say something when jules’ phone dings with a notification. a message from nico. a nervous flutter swirls in her stomach. carly forgets what she was going to say and claps her hands excitedly.
“what’s that say then?”
it’s a sweet message complimenting her profile. carly must have seen her smile because she clicks her tongue and gets off the bed. “right, i’ll leave you to that,” she winks at jules who’s already busy typing a reply.
once carly leaves, jules starfishes on her bed, phone held up in front of her face while she waits for nico, three dancing dots to turn into a reply. it’s fun, she realises. she hasn’t flirted with anyone in a long time. some part of jules feels guilty when the realisation hits. had it been her fault that she let her relationship with max go? maybe she should have flirted with him more or been better in bed or offered to do new and exciting things—
no. this is not her fault.
he’d cheated on her, that’s on him.
and so jules flirts with nico. it’s a little cheesy at times but what’s important is she enjoys it, and clearly nico enjoys it too, he asks to meet her that evening if she’s free. jules buries her face in the pillow for a second. is she really going to do this? go out to have casual sex?
she guesses she is.
and so with nervous butterflies fluttering in her stomach, jules texts him back and says yes to the date.
jules takes a deep breath and puffs up her cheeks before entering the pub. firebug is close to where she lives, she’s seen the outside many times while on her way home from work. but it’s her first time inside, and she tries not to fidget with her bracelets.
it’s a cosy little place at least—not overcrowded but not completely empty either. and it’s a friday evening after all, she hadn’t expected to find empty pubs anyway.
jules shoots nico a quick text to tell him she’s here. she’s grateful she’s a good fifteen minutes early. that way jules gets to order herself a drink and sit in silence and mentally prepare for this date. and so she makes her way to the bar and orders herself a cosmo.
the first sip calms her a little. jules checks her phone for the time—ten more minutes, she’ll be alright by then. but then ten minutes go by and she’s almost done with her drink, and there is no sign of nico—not on text, and certainly not in the pub. jules checks her phone for any texts she might have missed.
maybe he’s running a little late? she can excuse a few minutes. she doesn’t want to text him and bother him in case he’s driving. so she just scrolls on her phone, watching the minutes tick by.
five more minutes, then ten, then twenty.
he’s thirty minutes late by the time jules decides to give up and accept her fate. she already feels like shit about being stood up, she doesn’t need to sit here and get drunk alone and humiliate herself further. what was she even thinking saying yes to this? what was she thinking downloading dating apps in the first place?!
jules gulps the rest of her second drink (another cosmo) in one go and almost slams the glass on the counter, ready to gather her belongings and just leave…
“jules?” she whirls at the sound of her name, hoping still that it’s nico. it’s not.
“matty?” she stands, surprised to see him after so many months after that first time at his show. “hi!”
she doesn’t know how to react quite honestly. on the one hand, jules remembers the last time she’d seen him, remembers how hot he’d looked and how, despite still being sad over max she’d flirted with matty. on the other hand she also remembers the running away.
she’d told him she’d stay for after the show. and then she had not.
“you remember me,” he smiles, crooked and a little teasing. “i would have thought you purged us from memory.”
jules winces, so he remembers that too then…
“i’m…sorry about that, i was… not having a great day. nothing to do with you, i promise! your show was fucking great, better than anything i’ve seen before—”
“jules,” he laughs, “i was joking.” then he points at the stool in front of her, asking for permission to sit. jules nods eagerly.
“and better than anything, huh? i thought that particular compliment would be reserved for your boyfriend?”
jules knows it’s supposed to be a lighthearted comment, still, she can’t help the way her face twists into a grimace. matty frowns.
“i thought you were… nevermind, sorry”
“no, say it. you thought what?” she knows what he’s going to say, and yet some masochistic part of her wants to hear him say it.
“i thought you were with that guy, max?” matty responds cautiously, like he knows he might be broaching a touchy subject. “i’ve seen you with him a couple times is all…”
“i was,” jules laughs bitterly, circling the rim of her empty glass with her finger. “it went up in flames. and now here i am, stood up by my tinder date.”
she expects him to laugh, but matty’s gaze dips down to her hands too, to the empty glass she’s toying with. then he motions for the bartender and asks for two more drinks.
“just coke for me,” jules interjects, “i’m done drinking.”
matty nods. “two cokes then.”
she observes him while they wait for their drinks. he looks so much different now than he did six months ago. he has a mohawk! although it’s already growing out. and even though jules misses the long curls, the grown out mohawk somehow suits him better. seriously, is there anything he can’t pull off?
if matty can see her ogling at him so blatantly, he doesn’t say it. perhaps she should have stopped after that first cosmo, she’s never been great with alcohol.
when they both have their cokes in hand, matty turns to look at her again. “did he cheat on you?”
“you got there fast.”
matty sucks in air through his teeth, looking a little awkward. “not really a stretch if i’m being honest. he’s friends with ethan davies…”
she groans when he mentions ethan. she’d gone months without remembering that asshole’s existence, blissful six months where she did not have to be around him for even a single second. matty looks a little apologetic too.
this should be a fun, flirty, light conversation and here she is, chatting about her ex with a cute (and hopefully single) boy.
“wish i wasn’t stupid enough to ignore that,” jules jokes lamely.
matty clicks his tongue. “you’re not stupid!” his voice holds so much conviction that for a moment she only stares at him, at the serious expression on his face that just looks so out of place. matty shakes his head and smiles a little. “besides,” he continues, voice much lighter than before, “you’re definitely not stupid enough to download dating apps, really jules? tinder?”
she takes a sip of her coke and glares at him. “it’s not for relationships, matty! i don’t want those ever again.” that last part is more muttered to herself. besides, it’s a little insulting that he would thing she would search for love on the internet. she’s not that desperate. she will never be that desperate.
matty places his chin on his palm, suddenly much more interested than before. “then what is it for?”
“i don’t know, something casual,” jules mumbles, “something that doesn’t come with strings.”
why is she so embarrassed about this? why did she mumble it like it’s a dirty little secret? she’s a grown woman for fuck’s sake she can go out and have an orgy if she wants to. jules straightens defiantly and matty raises an eyebrow. the interest on his face is clear, so is his curiosity. she can practically see the gears turning in his head, spitting out ideas. does she want to know what he’s thinking?
“i could give you that”
she chokes on her coke. “…what?”
“i said i could give you that,” matty doesn’t shy away from repeating it. if anything, he sounds even more confident than the first time. “if it’s just sex you want.”
“just sex…” she repeats dumbly as if there’s more than one interpretation of his words.
“nothing more, nothing less.” matty’s voice is firm, his face completely serious. at least she thinks it’s serious…
what if she has read the situation completely wrong? what if he’s just playing a practical joke? maybe a second would go by and he would burst out laughing at the look on her face. she stalls a little, matty doesn’t move a muscle.
“i can’t tell if you’re joking or not…” she whispers, shakily taking another sip of the coke. whatever buzz she’d got going on with the cosmos has faded entirely.
“no i’m serious,” he hooks a foot under her barstool, sliding her closer until their knees are touching. she does find that a little hot if she’s being honest…
“you’re a gorgeous girl,” he continues, giving her a once over that makes her flush a little, “and not to brag, but i’m a good looking guy who doesn’t want anything serious right now. it’s perfect.”
the more he speaks the more his eyes light up with the idea, like it’s a stroke of genius. and maybe it is, jules thinks. she has no other commitments happening, her love life is in the bin, her heart guarded behind a giant brick wall. jules takes a second to think about it, to really think about it.
“alright yeah.”
this time, it’s matty’s turn to look taken aback. “seriously?”
“yes, just sex is exactly what i need.” the more she speaks, the more she feels confidence flooding in her. this is perfect, it really is. “i can’t imagine ever falling in love with you, i’ve sworn off guys like you forever.”
“oi, rude!” matty glares at her, but it changes into a smile quickly. “seriously though, you don’t have to worry about me falling in love with you either. music takes over so much of my life, i don’t have time for any of that.”
jules considers his words. is she really going to do this? is she really cut out for this? “alright then,” she nods, a slight tremor to her hands, “we should have some ground rules.” matty’s lips part and jules suddenly feels a little nervous. she scrambles, “wait, is that too fast? are we moving fast? should we slow down?”
matty laughs. “this isn’t a relationship, jules, we have no expectations of sticking to a speed.”
“okay, yes, you’re right.” she takes a sip of her coke to calm her thudding heart. this is happening. this is really happening. she’s negotiating the rules of a no-strings-attached situationship!
“so ground rules,” matty tips his head towards her, “you go first.”
“okay… um,” she takes a moment to think, tracing shapes in the condensation left behind by her glass, “no kissing on the mouth outside of sex.”
he nods. “done. nothing romantic—no dates or going out for dinner, no candles and baths, no breakfasts in bed”
“makes sense. no pet names.” she’s shocked how quickly it comes to her. then again, the thought of being called baby or babe one more time, especially in bed, makes her feel sick to her stomach.
“alright. if one of us meets someone, we end this immediately.”
involuntarily, she laughs. it’s a cold, sardonic sound that surprises her a little too. is she just bitter and jaded now? “unlikely for me, but yes, accepted.”
if matty finds that statement odd, he doesn’t point it out.
“should we be writing this down?”
“do you plan on having twenty different ground rules?”
jules wrinkles her nose at him. “no, i’m done. that covers all of it.”
“then we can remember four things easily.”
that, she supposes, is true. it’s a pretty short list. she doesn’t see herself breaking any of those rules—now or ever. “right then…when do we start?”
a slow smirk takes over matty’s face. he looks especially lovely then, she thinks. no, not lovely… he looks hot. he looks fuckable with his lips all pink and wet, with his hair the perfect grabbable, tuggable length. “tonight if that’s okay with you?”
a thrill shoots through her. jules looks down at herself. she’s in a pretty dress, she knows she’s shaved every inch of her body in anticipation of this and worn her prettiest lingerie. then she looks back at matty who seems to be looking at her with an equal amount of interest. his eyes scan her body, from head to toe and then back up in a way that makes her feel…desired. and their drinks are over too.
jules stands, slings her purse over her shoulder. “let’s go,” she extends her hand to him. “your place or mine?”

Strictly Pleasure - [Timo Meier]
A/N: So color me stunned when I went to the roster of Team Switzerland in 2019 and did not in fact see Timo on it……. Because the Sharks were in the playoffs…. LMAO But you know my entire AU timeline is built on 2019 so we go with it. As promised, the full fic for our unanimous poll winners 🥹
As a warning, I literally was clawing my fingernails into the bench seat editing this morning. Holy fuck. Apparently I was feeling extra smutty this weekend.....
Word Count: 4.3k
The coolness of my white wine glass chills my palm while I bring the liquid to my lips. I take a sip, lips curling up in appreciation of both the wine and the stunning sunset before my eyes. I sit on the patio of a cafe in Bratislava, Slovakia awaiting the arrival of my little brother. I am the only member of my family who has been able to make it over to Slovakia in time to see him compete for our country at the IIHF World Championships. His previous international experience has been at the U18 level, but this year he is competing in the big leagues. We are so proud of him and I feel honored to have the flexibility to see him live his dream this week.
Crowds from various countries line the streets of the capital city, surrounding Ondrej Nepela Arena. Various teams are represented- the three crowns of Sweden, the lion of Finland and one man with the red and white of my home country. I smile at the familiar crest on his chest. He wanders down the sidewalk with sunglasses on, hair perfectly styled in a swoop to the left. Mirrored aviators hide his upward gaze to the awning that spells out the restaurant. He flips his sunglasses up, looking down at his phone, then at the name of the restaurant again. Once confirming, he puts his phone back in his pocket, then stalls his footsteps at the podium explaining the menu options for tonight.
“Go Swiss!” I cheer in my native language at him. He looks up from where he had been studying the menu, nodding in my direction.
“You from?”
“Yes.”
“Me too.”
“I assumed so. You have the accent.”
“You… kind of do?” He chuckles, questioning. His head tilts to the side slightly, thick eyebrows pulling lower over his eyes. “Where are you from?”
“Close to Bern.”
“Ah… that southern dialect can be troublesome.”
“Maybe you just haven’t heard it enough. Should get out of the big city.” He quirks an eyebrow. “Zurich. Clearly.”
“St. Gallen.”
“Same difference.”
“Okay.” He chuckles, shifting as he stuffs his hands in the pockets of his jeans. “This place any good?”
“Wine is good.” I cheers my glass in the air at him. “But other than that, I don’t know. My brother picked the place.”
“Yeah, I am meeting someone here too.”
“Would you like to wait with me? I can buy you a drink.” For some reason, he laughs.
“Buy me a drink?” He nods. “Sure, if your boyfriend won’t mind?”
“No boyfriend. I’m sure your girlfriend will not be much longer though?”
“No girlfriend. If I did, sitting next to a beautiful Swiss woman would likely get me into big trouble.” He murmurs, reaching for the back of the empty chair across from me. As he pulls it out, my brother comes hustling up next to us.
“Oh great! You did get my text about Timo joining us. I’m glad you found each other.” We both pause, connecting the pieces of who we are to each other. I would not have pegged him as a hockey player. He presents so different from the others I have interacted with over my brother’s playing career. “Timo, this is my older sister Emma.”
“Nice to meet you.” He murmurs as he shakes my hand. Our hands fit perfectly together in a polite shake. His fingers drag along every inch of my palm as he pulls his hand back, creating an electric jolt up my arm.
“Yeah…” I trail off, answering my brother. I gulp down a sip of wine. “He was easy to spot.” Nico grins as I stand, wrapping my arms around his shoulders. “Hi.” I haven’t seen Nico for a few weeks. He came home to Switzerland after his season ended, but was running off with all his friends with his new found freedom.
“I am glad you could make it. Mama and Papa are coming tomorrow?”
“Yes, it was the earliest they could get here. I was able to get on a flight from my conference in Berlin.”
“Good. More time together.” I laugh, glancing at Timo who studies the menu across from me.
“Seemed you liked the way the last few weeks were.” I murmur. “Your big sister always coming in last.”
“I’m sorry.” Nico sighs regretfully.
“It’s okay. As per usual, your time is pulled in every single direction.”
“Yes, but you’re important to me. I’ll do better.”
“Good! You can start by buying me dinner. You make the big bucks now!”
“Yeah, you can buy mine too. You make 1st overall money. I’m slumming it down at 9.” Timo and I share a look, chuckling together at Nico’s red, embarrassed cheeks.
“With a flick of a pen, you instantly made more money than your sister has her entire career. You can buy my dinner.” I pile on.
“Stop.” Nico shakes his head with a shy smile. “I will buy you dinner because I love you and that’s it.” I shake my head, looking over at Timo.
“Nico always has to be so sweet to make me feel bad for teasing him.”
“You need to get meaner Nico.” Timo laughs. “Your sister is more intimidating than you.” I scoff at him, then smirk.
“Certified man eater.” I confirm. “You better be careful.” He sucks his cheeks in for a moment, scanning his eyes along my body. Then he shakes his head.
“I like a challenge.” He winks. I pause, recognizing his interest, sliding my gaze over to my little brother who seems to be contemplating between two entrees. I lick a drop of wine off my lips after taking a sip. Timo’s blue eyes stay there, then fall back down to the menu in front of me.
The rest of dinner, these small, wordless interactions happen. He brushes my hand while handing me back my filled water glass. We steal looks at each other whenever Nico isn’t looking. Most of the conversation is driven by us towards each other. Nico seems content to listen, happy to see us getting along so well after inviting a stranger to sibling bonding. I am thankful he did. Timo and I are vibing, conversing and joking like we have known each other for years, not less than two hours.
Nico pays the bill, making a huge show of treating us with his black Amex.
“Flaunting your wealth is tacky Nico.” I scold. He scoffs at me, waving me up out of my seat. I toss my arm around his shoulder, pulling him in for a forced hug. “I love you. Thank you.”
“I love you, buddy! Thank you!” Timo says too, coming in to the other side so Nico is sandwiched between us. I giggle hard, tilting my head back towards the dark sky while doing so. Timo’s hands grip my sides as we squeeze Nico harder. I fold my fingers over his arms too, feeling the soft material of his sweatshirt. When I open my eyes all I can see is Timo. His beautiful blue eyes sparkling with joy. His big smile and scrunched nose indicating how much fun he is having with us.
“I could use another drink.” I hear myself say to him directly. He nods immediately, releasing from our packed hug.
“We have a bar in our hotel. Are you staying there too?” Timo asks casually.
“Oh! Yes! Let’s go.” I exclaim. “Neeks?”
“Maybe. I’m tired, but I’ll see how I feel when we get there.”
“Okay.” I shrug. No offense to Nico, but I wouldn’t be disappointed if he didn’t come.
“How are we feeling about the game tomorrow?” I ask the boys as we walk the cobblestone walk way.
“Good. We’ll get it done.” Timo says confidently. Nico echos that though a yawn.
His yawning continues through our first round of drinks until he is almost falling asleep sitting up in his chair where we sit at a space in the bar, backing up to the lobby.
“Nico, just go to bed.” I chuckle.
“Yeah I am going to head there.” Nico sighs after a yawn. He looks over at me. “You too?” I bite my lip, shaking my head.
“I’m not tired. I stay up late for a living.” Nico shrugs his shoulders. “Goodnight.” He stands up.
“Goodnight baby brother.” I tease him as he heads across the lobby to the elevators. “Sleepy good!” I take a sip of my wine, then settle my brown eyes on Timo who still watches with those interested eyes. “Are you tired?” I wonder.
“No.” He says then takes a sip of his drink. “A lot more interesting things are happening down here than in mine and Fiala’s room.” A shiver runs from the base of my neck down my spine pulling my chest tight with flattery.
“You like to stay up late?”
“Mhm.” He answers around another sip of his drink. He licks at his top teeth afterwards, bringing my eyes back to his lips. “Kinda have to in this job. What do you do?”
“I own an event planning business.”
“Oh fancy, Ms. Entrepreneur.”
“I went to college and everything.”
“Impressive. Maybe I should hire you to run my charity golf tournament.”
“I could do that. But it depends.”
“On?”
“What happens between us tonight.” A slow and sexual grin rolls across his lips. He likes my boldness. My heart fluters excitedly in my chest. I love this part, getting gorgeous and powerful men to give into what has been brewing between us. “I have a strict line between business and pleasure. I’m sure you can understand that in your line of work.” Timo nods, looking lost in a previous mistake.
“That is fair.” He tilts his head. A few teammates walk through the lobby, shouting a hello at Timo. He gives a brief wave, then focuses back on me.
“Any chance I could convince you to go somewhere private to discuss further your personal and professional qualifications?” There is nothing professional about his request.
“Where would you suggest?”
“Maybe your room?” I pretend to contemplate, leaning back in my chair while studying him with scrutiny.
“What would we do there?” I ask him, dragging out the vowels in my words. I slowly run my tongue along my lips, gathering his attention there.
“You can tease me some more with that mouth.”
Forward. Bold. Going in for the kill, just like I hoped.
“Our drinks?” He pulls his wallet out, tossing cash onto the table. He stuffs his wallet in the back pocket of his jeans and stands. He holds his hand out for me. I stare at the warm, welcoming skin of his palm. I know what taking that hand means. I know this is dangerous territory, but Timo is a temporary teammate of my brother. It’s not like he is in New Jersey with him full time.
I slide my fingers gently into his hand, then clasp it as he lifts me into a standing position. He weaves our fingers together, palms cupping each other as we walk silently to the elevator. He pulls me in behind him, then turns expectantly at me.
“Four.” I tell him. He presses the button and the doors close.
“You do this often?”
“Yeah. You?”
“Plenty.” His eyes drag ravenously from my face down my body. He nods in surprised appreciation. “I won’t tell you I love you after, if that’s what you’re worried about.” He chuckles.
“You look harder to get than that. What are the rules?” He asks as he turns towards me. His hand drops mine, so he can pull my hips flush with his. My eyes flutter at what I feel. Big. Hard. Ready.
“Wrap it up. Don’t you dare finish before me. No butt stuff. And…” I insist, stepping closer. “Nico never knows.” My foot goes between his, rubbing my thigh against his zipper. He exhales a little heavier, hinting at the desire building in his body. The elevator doors open and we step out. I lead the way, sliding the key through and pushing the door open. I walk in first again. He shuts the door behind us then crosses the slim space between us. He whips me around by my wrist, crowding my space immediately. My heartbeat skyrockets in dangerous and needy passion.
“Anything else?” He asks, sliding a hand to the side of my neck. He holds it tight, thumb stroking my cheek. His blue eyes are fierce, ready for whatever waits for us on the other side of my answer.
“What are yours?”
“I don’t want anything serious. You understand that?” He strokes my cheek as he says it as if to soften the blow. He’s clearly had this conversation before with other women. He’ll figure out I’m not like them soon enough.
“Completely.”
“Are you on the pill?”
“Yes.” I laugh. “Are we going to fuck now or keep playing 20 questions?” I slide my hand down to the button on his pants. He laughs too, pausing as he bites his bottom lip.
“What are your thoughts on cuddling?”
“Hell no.”
“My kinda girl.” He whispers then closes the gap between our faces.
His lips on mine create an explosion that rocks me to my core. I exhale into his mouth in a moan. He runs his hand through my hair then down my body. It wraps around my waist and he lifts, practically tossing me up onto the hotel desk. The lamp shade rattles against the wall. His hands come to my shirt, lifting. Our lips part for a moment, then reconnect with tongues. Wetness pools in my panties, almost soaking them through.
One of his hands comes up to my breast, squeezing it, then finding my nipple and thumbing it over my bra. I sigh happily into his mouth, then fist his shirt in my hand. His shirt joins mine on the floor, then I reach for the button on his pants. It snaps apart easily. I jerk his zipper down until it’s completely open. His cock is hot and seeping in his underwear. I pull back from his mouth, looking down as he unclasps my bra. The straps slack along my arms. He pulls them the rest of the way off, then takes me in.
“Beautiful.” He mumbles, tugging my hips so I slide closer to him on the desk top. “So, so beautiful.” He repeats against the warm skin of my chest. His lips kiss down vertically, until he gets to a tight nipple. He makes eye contact with me as he sucks it into his mouth. His tongue strokes upwards too, making my jaw unhinge for a moment. “You had so much to say earlier, now you’re quiet? Gonna have to change that.” He whispers, then sucks my nipple deep into his mouth, working it over, sending darts of pleasure to my clit. It aches to be touched, missing out on his skilled mouth and fingers.
“Oh.” I pant. He smirks into my breast.
My fingers find the waistband of his underwear, tugging it back from his skin so his cock rises to rest on his belly. His red tip is oozing down the edge of his head. I bite my lip, then my head knocks back into the lamp as his tongue strokes my other nipple into submission.
Fuck, this is incredible. He knows exactly what he is doing. When to push, when to pull away, how to tease and reward. He will be worth any future punishment. My hands shove at the waistbands of his bottom layers until they work down his strong hips. He steps out of them, grabbing a condom in his jean pocket, then kicks them off to the side. I lean back on one palm grinning. He lets me take him in, every delicious curve and edge of his muscular body made perfect from hockey and hard work. His big hands cup my breasts, rolling his thumbs over the stiff peaks in unison.
“Oh that feels sooo good.” I moan appreciatively. I run my free hand through my hair. He watches my face, playing with me more until I am embarrassingly close to coming without him even being inside of me. “I need you to fill me up.”I demand breathlessly. He bites his lip.
“You’re so fucking sexy. You can tell me what to do all night, Emma.”
“Just call me Em.” I laugh. “Emma is so formal.”
“Whatever you want, babe.”
He unbuttons my jeans, then pulls them off my legs. He admires my black, lace panties, seeing the creamy wetness pooling there just for him, then he works them off my body so we are both naked. He picks me up, setting me to the very edge of the desk, then he hands me the condom. I rip the package open with my teeth, gripping the tip, before easing it down his shaft. His eyes close and he sways slightly forward at my hands on him.
He crowds my space, our breath combining together, still smelling like the minimal alcohol we had tonight. One hand goes to my left hip, then the other goes to grip his shaft. He rolls his head through my folds, collecting my soaking juices before he nestles his head at my entrance. Together, we watch him disappear between my swollen lips. He lets out a shaky exhale. He grabs my wrists, putting them on his shoulders, then he lifts me slightly up off the desk, beginning to pump into my pussy.
Tingling explosions burst out down my body. Gooseflesh covers my arms and legs as I take each hard thrust with enthusiastic greed. I kiss along his jaw, grinning at the way I jerk in his arms with each pump. He isn’t handling me like a fragile doll, he is fucking me just like I knew he would. Hard, fast, deep, showing he was built with power and strength for a reason.
“Fuck, Em, your pussy is so good.” He growls into my neck. The sound of skin slapping together increases, becoming disgustingly obvious in the room as he rocks hard into me. “So wet and tight.” He hisses through gritted teeth. My nose bumps into his jaw as I moan on his throat. He turns his face, capturing my lips then fucking up harder and faster into me. My whole body goes tight and rigid, then I fall into my orgasm. Timo fucks me through it, not wavering in his thrusts at all until I collapse onto his chest in surrender. He slows then, kissing my neck as he takes me to the bed. He lays me down, then work himself out of me. I look down at the condom, wondering if we are done.
“Your turn. Show me what you got, Hischier.” I laugh loudly. He sits down on the bed, then falls backwards. He takes my hand in one of his, fingers folding together, helping me maneuver to straddle his lap. I work my hair to one side, then reach behind me to grab his cock in my hand. He hums, then sighs happily as I swallow him whole in one press of my hips. Timo’s eyes literally roll back into his head as I start to move. His hands come behind his head fingers lacing together on the pillow below.
“That’s right. Just lay there princess.” I smirk, throwing my hips back on his cock.
“Funny… gorgeous… talented… where has Nico been hiding you?”
“Practically under your nose.”
“Ah, that’s why I didn’t see it. It’s a little big.” I giggle, then set my hands on his shoulders, rolling my hips.
“Ooo. You know how to fuck.” He praises me. “So good….” He bites his lip, exhaling heavily. “Little more, gorgeous.” He encourages. I comply and he groans. “Mmmm.” His hands snap away from the back of his head. He grips my hips, feeling the roll of them on him. Then two fingers find my clit. I shutter. His other hand comes to my breast, pinching my nipple. “Fuck me until you cum.” He whispers. I moan shakily, then keep bucking my hips down into him. When he senses I am about to release, he works his hips up in little thrusts to help me over the edge.
“Oh!” I cry out, pinching my other nipple.
He gently eases me down, pulling his feet up closer to his butt so his thighs create support for my back. I slump into them. I pant, looking at him on the pillow as he smirks.
“Shit.” I hiss as he forces his cock up deep into me, lifting my weight with his hips like it’s nothing.
“Doggy?” He asks, wiggling his large eyebrows. I nod eagerly.
I’ve never come so hard or had so much fun with a one night stand before. Usually, it’s awkward, bumping into each other and trying to find the right tempo. Not with Timo. It truly feels like we were made for each other. Gone is the insecure way I try to move my body so my partner can see the best angles. Usually, I stay away from doggy. But I am desperate to feel the hard slapping of his balls against my clit.
We both stand. Timo kisses me, tongues flirting within my mouth. Our lips are puffy and red by the time we pull apart. He twists my hips, working his cock between my legs as I bend over in front of him. He lines his latex covered head with my entrance, then pulls me back on his dick. We both groan loudly this time, appreciating the stretch and arousal of each other.
“Gonna be dreaming about this pussy tonight.” He groans, starting to buck his hips again. The delicious slapping has me deliriously groping the bed sheets. His thick cock crams into me thrust after thrust, feeling like he is rearranging my internal organs. A big hand comes to the back of my neck, forcing me down. I groan loudly, shrieking an inhale at how good this angle feels.
“Please.” I hear myself beg.
“Please what, baby?”
“Please make me cum. Please. More. Um! That! Yeah!” I yelp out as his hips snap harder into me. My ass shakes with his powerful thrusts. I turn my face into the comforter, then scream hard into it as a powerful orgasm grips my core and turns me inside out.
“Fuck… I’m gonna cum. Feels so fucking good when you cum.” I shake against his thighs as he finishes in the condom. His hand releases from the back of my neck. He grips the edge of the condom then works his way out of me. Wordlessly, he heads to the bathroom, striping himself and cleaning off. I collapse forward into the bed sheets, curling into the fetal position while my heavy breathing continues. Timo brings a towel back with him, tossing it to me. Afterwards, I throw it onto the floor while he lays back next to me in bed.
“Good job.” I murmur, holding my hand up. He slaps it firmly, then sighs happily.
“That was amazing.” He turns to look at me when he says it. I nod, meeting his gaze. “Any chance you’re available for more of that this summer?”
“No strings?”
“No strings.” He agrees.
“Then yeah. I’m available.” He chuckles.
“We make a good team, tho. Damn.” He rubs a hand over his head. He turns his wrist, looking at the time on his expensive, silver watch. “I gotta go. It’s almost curfew.”
“Yeah, I want to go to sleep.” I admit, stretching out, pushing at his thigh under the covers to move him off the bed. He dramatically rolls off like I kicked him full on. I giggle as he rests his chin on the bed from the floor. His blue eyes soak me up. His hand comes up, poking at my left cheek.
“Your dimples are cute.”
“Thank you.” I murmur.
“How long are you here?”
“Wanna see me again already?” He laughs.
“Yeah. Sex that great is rare. I want you again tomorrow.” Butterflies erupt in my stomach. I roll my bottom lip in my mouth, watching him pull his clothes back on. His last article is the Team Switzerland sweatshirt he zips up to the middle of his chest.
“Okay.” I agree. He smiles gently, then walks towards me.
He kneels one knee on the bed, hovering over the body he wrecked tonight. He kisses me quick, then pulls away. He smells seductive and sultry, like his expensive cologne and me.
“Sweet dreams.” He whispers.
“Goodnight.” I respond. He walks out of the room, closing the door softly during his exit.
I roll onto my back, staring up at the ceiling above me. The butterflies in my stomach expand up into my chest until it feels crammed full. I put my hand over my face, watching back the reel of the night against my black eyelids, ending with the mutual agreement of more.
More this weekend. More even this off-season too. More, more, more because it will be months before I will have had my fill of him.
I’m not sure how we will make it all work. Sneaking around once is one thing, but doing it continuously is another.
I guess this planner is going to have to figure it out.
Because It’s going to be a long, hot summer with Timo Meier.

when i was drowning - [p.jackson]
wordcount: 0.7K
warnings: almost drowning
requested: yes!! @thegirlwhosimpstoomuch6190
I should have known going swimming on my own would become a disaster. But technically, it was also the best day of my life.
Being a daughter of Hades is hard. Being the sister of Nico di Angelo is hard. Being a demigod is hard. But being in love with Perseus Jackson? That is the opposite of hard.
His sea green eyes that sparkle when he laughs. How he runs his hands through his scruffy black hair, making it even messier. How he fights with his shiny sword like nobody's watching. How he cares for the new campers, jokes with his friends, and always eats blue food if he can manage it.
I think it’s impossible not to fall for Percy Jackson. It’s the easiest? most natural feeling in the world.
Anyways, I’m a bit of a loner. Most campers don’t tend to want to hang out with the creepy death twins, so both Nico and I decide to be alone most of the time. Over the years here at camp, Nico has been in and out a lot, shadow travelling all over the world and even into hell once.
I’ve stayed here at camp all this time. I spend my time alone. I’ve tried to redecorate the Hades cabin (Nico made some terrible decisions as a young child and I am desperate to fix it). I do classes alone or sometimes with the Apollo kids (Will Solace is dating my brother, and he is like a brother to me).
Sorry, I’m getting off topic. Solangelo does that to people.
So on that shiny summer morning, Im walking down the dirt path to the lake. I’m glad I’m alone. I’d never dare to swim with someone else. No that anyone would want to do that with a Hades kid. We’re “creepy and dark and mysterious” or whatever. Which isn’t true. Yeah, I’m a introvert, but so are a lot of other people.
I have the weirdest feeling someone is watching me. I whirl around, but see nothing. Huh. I decide to ignore the strange feeling and just relax a little.
I wander down to the canoe lake, strip down to my sports bra and bike shorts, and dive off the end of the pier.
Unfortunately, I misjudged my dive. I landed wrong, felt my leg bend weirdly, and plummeted into the water. My head hits something hard, and everything goes black.
The next time I open my eyes, they see the somewhat blurry ceiling of the infirmary. Yellow light fills the room, warm and sunshiny and very Apollo cabin themed. I’m not sure I like this aesthetic so much.
“Y/n!”
It’s Nico. He rushes over and sits down on a stool beside me. “Damn, are you okay?”
I groan, my head suddenly spiked with pain. “Um. I think so? What the hell happened?”
Nico raises an eyebrow. “Y/n, you almost freakin drowned. What were you thinking? Going to swim alone?”
“I’m sorry,” I say, wincing. “So… what happened?”
Nico gives me a look. “You hit your head, we think. You would’ve drowned, you know. Except for Percy…”
I’m immediately paying attention. “Percy?” I ask curiously.
Nico looks slightly amused, and also annoyed. “Yeah, Percy Jackson. You were gonna drown, but he saved you. Lucky he happened to be walking past, which is weird, cause he was supposed to be at archery practice then.”
I flush slightly. “He… he saved me?”
Nico nods. “Gods, you’re hopeless. Stop getting all flustered over him.”
“Hey!” I complain. “Says you, whenever Will walks in the door.”
“Shut up.”
I smirk, and even though my head hurts something awful, Percy Freaking Jackson saved me in a canoe lake today. And that’s enough to make this my best day ever.

Can we get dad!nico surprising his daughter on her birthday because he was away for a game and wasn’t meant to fly back until the day after but managed to get there early in the morning before she even woke up? I just know he’d show up with a bunch of gifts he picked up on his trip on top of what they already decided to buy her for her birthday
a/n: 100% nico would be that kind of dad. i also believe he would definitely end up getting her or at least trying to get her the pet shes been asking for
If there was one thing about Nico it was that he would move mountains for his daughter. He had proved that plenty of times during the past five years and today was no exception. Telling your four year old that her favorite person in the whole world wouldn’t be home for her birthday was not easy. You could actually see it tearing Nicos heart when he explained he would be away for work. The small pout that grew on her lips as she nodded her head at him only made it worse. “Daddy will make sure to call you though okay?”
After he had gotten done with explaining it all to her, you placed a gentle hand on his shoulder, the look on his face showing just how defeated he felt in that moment. But again, he would move mountains for her so it shouldn’t have surprised you when the morning of your daughters fifth birthday he had shown up bright and early before she even woke up. He did not show up empty handed either. There were plenty of bags and you knew not all of them had his hockey gear in them.
“First of all, how did you manage to pull this off? Second, how many gifts did you get? She already has all the ones we got lost week!” You told him, pointing to the kitchen counter where you had already wrapped up all her presents that were now just patiently waiting on the counter for her to wake up. “I just kept seeing things she would like and I couldn’t get that little pout of my head.” He explained to you and a small smile spread on your lips. “I think her favorite present is going to be you being here.”
Both of you went up to her room, Nico gently sitting on the edge of her bed as he woke her up. “Hey, birthday princess.” Your little one stirred away and the minute her eyes saw her father she jumped into his arms. “Daddy!!” She squealed as her small arms wrapped around him. “But mommy said you weren’t coming to my birthday party today.” She pointed out, still trying to figure out how you had gotten here. “Don’t worry, daddy is going to be at your birthday party. Also uncle Jack and uncle Dawson sent some presents for you.”
Immediately her face lit up and you weren’t exactly sure if it was the word presents that caused that reaction or the names of her favorite uncles. “Let’s go downstairs.” He lifted her up in his arms as she giggled. “Daddy is going to make some breakfast for you and mommy and you get to open all those presents we got you.” At his words she immediately started clapping her hands in excitement. “Did I get a baby kitty this year?” She asked and a laugh left your lips because she only decided last night that she needed one and you knew by tonight she would need something completely different. “Nope, but I’m sure there’s still plenty of time left in the day to see about that one.”
