Currently with my brainworms and input from here & insta, am thinking of these following ideas

(Six of Crows and some minor(?) Crooked Kingdam spoilers ahead, i say minor cuz it's kinda vague but wanted to mention it just in case)

Jesper would be an earth bender cuz of that leewaying to metalbending

Nina I think waterbending cuz of the badass dark af bloodbending which I feel ties w her grisha power in soc

Am still a bit lost on Matthias. Initially i rlly liked the idea of Nina being a firebender & him being a waterbender. Them having that opposites elements thing going on. Also the water tribes typically being located in icy & snowy areas, and yea Matthias and ice just makes sense.

But now I'm not sure cuz I'm reallyyyy leaning towards Nina being a waterbender -> bloodbender (in true Katara fashion she'd be the one we see doing and go "oh shit this just got so freaking dark wdym blood bending??" Which imo also fits to her soc storyline w her grisha powers)

Another idea for Matthias would be him being a nonbender and trying to incorporate that Fjerdan-hate-against-Grisha in a group of nonbenders that hate benders for more or less similar reasons.

But i rlly dunno lol still lost on him

On that note obviously if we're going by the soc grisha translating to benders, then only Nina and Jesper would be benders. Everyone else would be non

But we can freestyle it a bit lol

Am considering, Wylan as a friebender and specifically the Zuko character for the gaang in certain ways

a) someone said it'd be in a non-ragey way, but it makes sense cuz his bombs & fireworks he makes and uses in soc would then translate to firebending

b) another person also pointed out it'd fit the fact that he'd then have grown up in a rich family. And to expand on that idea it also def fits in the family-dynamic itself; the fire lord exiling his son and that whole conflict bit really corresponds well with Wylan's falling out with his (little piece of shit of a) father.

I can also imagine when the gang (mainly kaz) tries to come up w a plan or a strategy that'd involve using that fact (Wylan being the Fire Lord's son) against said Fire Lord, Wylan would tell him it's no use given he's litrly in exile and his (little piece of trash of a) dad wouldn't give two shits about him. It corresponds well with the same bit in soc methinks

Now inej I think would either be a nonbender and fight very badass in true Inej fashion (am thinking Suki? Kinda?) Or she'd be a waterbender and imo both work rlly well.

I think kaz would be a nonbender lol someone on insta said he'd absolutely wreck people and fck em up as a nonbender (very much like Ty Lee destroying everyone) and it made me laugh so hard but I also am digging it!! I can def see him being a nonbender and being the strategist, remaining true to his bigbrain self in soc lol

As for Kuwei, am so ???? Over this idea but I think he'd be the Avatar.

It makes so much sense to me because of how everyone is after the Avatar (also think Fire Lord who in this setup would be Jan miserable-excuse-of-a-man van Eck who's been, well, the one so keen on getting his hands on Kuwei, which I think translate really well to the Fire nation wanting to find the Avatar and get rid of him etc)

It'd also fit his importance to the overal world and its fate etc also very much fitting to his character's importance in soc

I also just think it'd be very fun to somehow still have a breaking-kuwei-out-of-captivity scene/bit (aka the ice court heist but boiled down to a smaller bit ig idk) and towards the end during the escape when they get to a dead end, Appa fucking sweeps in and they get away w him (am thinking of that one tiktok that has Kaz saying to Nina "what do you think, a tank will appear out of nowhere and-" the other trio fucking sweeps in with a wholeass tank)

But when it comes to the narrative aspect, him being the Avatar would put him in the focus and the main character (or at least, the most important one amont the main characters of atla) rather than the very consequential and important side character he is in soc

But i guess we don't have to stick to atla narrative & story 100% in the au lol I mean the cast of soc already doesn't correspond to the gaang 1-on-1 and rather fits bits and pieces here and there

Anywho enough with this cuz this has gotten so long lol thank you if you've read this far omg

notes: i wrote so many headcanons, i can’t write proper sentences anymore. also punctuation and commas are not really my piece of cake. arg.

futakuchi kenji was much but one thing. romantic. there could be the most romantic atmosphere, he would be able to ruin it. he had proved that so many times.

for example when he asked you out. most people would wait for the perfect moment but not this guy. he knew you liked him as much as he did, so it was perfectly clear for him, that you would accept him no matter what. when you did it only confirmed his thesis. it was the same for your first kiss, the first ‘i love you’  and all the other important moments.

his dense obliviousness for moods was a constant factor throughout your whole relationship. this guy even took it a step further as he didn’t just ignore atmospheres but would ruin them in great manner. it wasn’t like he did this on purpose, well sometimes he did for the sole purpose of teasing you, but most of the times he found himself lost in the moment and disregarded everything ‘unnecessary’, which was as much as everything that wasn’t you.

you were official for over a year now and even though you were still in high school you already reached the serious stage of you relationship. at least so serious that you had already talked about your hopes and dreams for your future together, like what would happen after graduation. 

but back to the topic

it was the verge of summer already and dateko had announced their annual summer festival to be this weekend. it was pretty obvious for futakuchi that you would accompany him, so he hadn’t bothered to ask you out. he even waited until last minute before even mentioning it to you. it was friday afternoon already, the last lessons just had ended and the whole class had started to pack up, when futakuchi had come to you.

‘babe, when should i pick you up tomorrow?’ he asked in a matter of fact tone. ‘what do you mean?’ you had forgotten about the festival already. because futakuchi hadn’t asked you out you had assumed he was busy and had banned it from your mind. ‘huh, wdym wdym, the school festival of course.’ he remembered you. ‘well, i don’t remember you asking me out.’ you deadpanned but it didn’t even affect him. ‘6pm then.’ he gave you a quick peck on the cheek and was about to turn around when you sighed heavily. ‘sometimes, i wanna throw rocks at you.’ as if he had expected this statement he said: ‘you wouldn’t hit me if you tried.’ while exiting the room, leaving you behind slightly annoyed.

when 6pm on the next day arrived, he showed up in casual clothing. he wore a dark blue sweater and black jeans, while you got all dressed up for him.

‘i feel like one of us puts more effort in all this than the other.’ you stated without even looking at him as you walked past out of the door. he didn’t answer though and just trailed behind you. he could tell that you were pissed but decided not to act until you were surrounded by the food stands and fairy lights of the festival. maybe your moodyness would vanish on it’s own. but every minute he walked behind you without saying a word you got more annoyed and angrier.

when you arrived you were at rock bottom. for the next few hours you walked up and down between the stands and met up with the rest of the volleyball team. you spent your time with aone while futakuchi stayed with the rest. only after about half an hour he noticed your disappearance and went looking for you only to find you and aone sitting on a park bench in silence looking at the stars that were already out. it was then that he acknowledged how sad you actually looked.

without missing a beat he walked over, grabbed your hand and pulled you up, receiving a nod from aone. ‘come on y/n, the firework starts in 10 minutes. i think i found just the right spot.’

he dragged you away from the festival grounds up a little hill with a park bench on it nearby. it was dark and deserted but had a great view over the festival grounds. you could see all the people that had surrounded you earlier walk down the aisles, all the pretty lights and much more. but futakuchi looked at you and you only. you had this desperate expression on your face that never failed to made him feel bad. he knew he had messed up at some point when you didn’t even talk to him which was the exact opposite of your normally bubbly and talk active personality.

‘i’m sorry.’ this made you finally look at him.

‘what for.’ you rather stated then asked. it was this kind of situation where you knew exactly what for but you wanted to hear him say it.

‘for everything. i know i am not the best when it comes to relationships and i really should have taken the hint already when you said that i don’t put enough effort in all of this earlier. and i��m sorry i didn’t ask you out to the festival. it’s just that the longer we are together, or rather the longer you are by my side the more i take you for granted.’ he sighed. ‘but i want you to know even when i ignore you and act like a total jerk-’

‘so always?’ you butted in, making him smile a little.

‘yeah, very funny. no i want you to know that i really love you with my entire being. you are the person i see my future with and the person i want to marry one day.’ in the background the firework had already started and the shiny colors reflected on your teary eyed face as you looked at your boyfriend in awe.

the longer you stayed quiet the closer he came, moving inch by inch agonizingly slow. ‘so,’ he spoke up when he was mere inches away from you.’do you forgive me?’ he asked sounding rather confident hiding the nervousness he was feeling inside. you closed the gap between you two as an answer capturing his lips in a slow and passionate kiss as his hands found the way to either side of your waist and yours rested on his cheeks. the firework that sounded so distant and insignificant in the background was long forgotten about.

after about 2 minutes you pulled away in search of the desperately needed oxygen and rested your foreheads together, looking in each others eyes. futakuchi smirked.

‘i take that as a ‘yes’ then.’

‘you better marry me one day.’ you answered.

‘that’s the plan.’
