The first day of speakers has been epic #WDS2018 I cried a few times and have been deeply inspired by their stories. DJ Prashant of @jaihodanceparty literally repelled in and had us do a Bollywood dance, and opened up about his story of leaving Intel to dance and DJ. Paula Pant @paulapant of Afford Anything visited 30 countries before she was 30: "You can't make change from the middle of a bell curve." Cassie De Pecol @cassiedepecol has gone to every country in the world alone and holds two world records. She brought her freaking cat 🐱 on stage y'all AND she talked about mental health and her struggles with it. Myrna Valerio @themirnavator started by singing us opera and telling us about her teaching career. She fell in love with running after a health problem and started the blog Fat Girl Running, radically NOT promoting weight loss. She's been on the cover of Women's Running magazine! Imagine movement for joy and accomplishment and strength, not weight loss. 🙌❤️ Cathy Heller @cathy.heller has a top rated podcast Don't Keep Your Day Job but started out by recording the first one multiple times. Hard to let go of perfection... asked "what would we do if we could tolerate being uncomfortable?" Truly invigorating to hear the struggles and the triumphs of these humans. People were honest about their stories, the bad and good parts. I can't even with how much I have to think about and reflect on... and we will have a whole new day of speakers lined up for tomorrow. #vegantravel #portland https://ift.tt/2tKiOcf

My reflection after the World Domination Summit opening party: #WDS2018 "The opening party at WDS was a field day. I've never felt comfortable at one as a kid. I always felt fat (the negative connotation version then), awkward, and shy. I used to be so scared to try new things. I face planted in PE when I was in elementary school and the laughter is still in my head. I had to race one of the sporty boys in a relay and was so terrified, I fell. I felt so much shame in that moment. Today the field day was a revelation. I hula hooped with joy and played with the giant parachute. I had a beer and gave my all in giant Jenga. I watched joyfully as others ran and did the capture the flag game, ACCEPING my own limitations with asthma. And I didn't feel guilty. I met new people. I saw egg and sack races and tug of war. People were friendly. I'm reclaiming field day and letting elementary school Chani heal. I stood in the goal and I TOOK UP SPACE!" #bodypositive #healing https://ift.tt/2KyHN8S
