Finally got to ask Scott the last question. His reply is in the podcast episode recorded live at yesterday's event. ;)

So…there was a news media outlet that was going to be present at the ATX Festival, and asked readers for questions that they wanted to ask the Gilmore Girls Reunion Panel. Not surprisingly, I responded with several questions. Even less surprisingly, all of them pertained to one Jess Mariano.

Still further in the land of non-surprises, none of them were asked at the panel (unless it was on the red carpet somewhere, not recorded/reported on anywhere I’ve been able to find). I can’t say that I expected them to be answered/asked, but I put significant thought into them…so, I thought I’d put them out into internetland (aka Tumblr at the moment) on the still slimmer chance that any of the individuals for which I intended them ever happen to see, and, miracle of miracles, reply to this post.

Here goes:

For Milo: 1. There are all sorts of headcanons fans have about Jess’ background, based not only on the clues from the script, but also very much on the way you played the character. That being said, what did you imagine Jess’ home life being like growing up before he came to Stars Hollow? 2. In your recent Wizard World panel you mentioned that you use different songs or images as triggers to get you into a character’s headspace. What did you use to get into Jess’ head?

For Amy: 1. There’s a long standing rumor that at the plot twist at the end of Season 6 was originally supposed to be, instead of Lorelai leaving Luke and going to Chris, Rory leaving Logan and turning up in Philadelphia with Jess. Is there any truth to that? 2. Another rumor was that at the end of Season 3, when Jess was leaving for California, that there originally was a voice-over, cut in the final edit, that was a letter Jess was writing to Rory. Is that true? If so, what was the gist of the letter?

For Dan: 1. I’ve always gotten the impression that Jess was based, in part, on you. Don’t remember if I read that or *where* I got that impression, other than the fact that you were credited in a lot of Jess’ most pivotal episodes. Did you see a lot of him in yourself? 2. I have my own theories, but what do you imagine specifically led up to Liz sending Jess to live with Luke? I’m particularly curious because, at least onscreen, Luke never found out.

For Scott (and/or Milo): 1. There was an incredibly strong family resemblance between Luke and Jess, in terms of personality, mannerisms, body language, and speech patterns. How much of that was coming *from* the script and the direction, and how much of it was the two of you working together to get that down, or Milo taking cues from Scott’s established performance and character?
