Me and Azzi hung out all day today because it’s finally a day where we have the same off day. I stayed at her house all day, not answering to any of my friends who wanted to hang out because i was with Azzi.

Everything feels complete with Azzi.

We’re watching a movie and it is getting pretty late so I guess it’s time for me to leave.

“Baby” I say softly, rubbing her cheek. “hm?” Azzi hums. “It’s 11:56 pm. I’m gonna head back home now” I say, sitting up.

“No” Azzi whines, grabbing my wrist. “What?” I question, turning around to face the sleepy girl. “stay.” Azzi says, looking up at me.

“Baby, you know I have practice in the morning and so do you-“ I say before i’m cut off by her.

“Please?” She pleads, sitting up more now. “baby” I start.

“I dunno” I add. “I can stay the night tomorrow” I suggest. “i can’t sleep without you” Azzi admits.

“What?” I ask, a smile creeping onto my face. “I can’t sleep without you- that’s why when you don’t stay over I call you and we sleep on the phone together.” Azzi says, hiding her face.

“Aw, baby. Fine, I’ll stay over” I crack, getting back into bed since I already have on some of her pajamas.

“c’mere” I motion, cuddling up to her. “I love you” She whispers, turning the TV and light off. “love you more” I reply, nuzzling my face into the crook of her neck.

“Not possible” She adds. “Baby, it’s too late to have this argument right now” I laugh out.

“Fine. Goodnight, pretty” Azzi says, kissing my head gently.

“Goodnight, Az” I reply before sleep quickly takes over the both of us.

Y’know how they say “Sometimes home is a person and not a place”?

Well Azzi is my home.

God, i’m so in love with this girl.

I’m not saying it’s surprising or inherently wrong [on the athletes’ part] or whatever but. the way NIL has shaken out so far with the value of male athletes and their “brands” being determined primarily by their athletic prowess and merits, and female athletes being overwhelmingly valued on their sex appeal above all other attributes, is just so fucking deflating I mean oh my GOD.

people are also forgetting college sports is NOT professional sports. how many college athletes go to the pros? damn they can’t celebrate making the NCAA tournament in their respective sport because they didn’t win the whole thing? like sorry but most of them end up being accountants or lawyers let them celebrate being the top 16, 8, 4 and 2 teams in the COUNTRY.

it’s always people who never did sports either who have these wild takes.

I’m starting to think they hate women because how could you possibly have a problem with celebrating female athletes. Like im sorry your spelling bee contest back in middle school did not award you rings as participation awards. it must’ve been sooo hard for you 💔

I don’t know why people are hating on a harmless celebration, acting like they’re personally paying for those diamond encrusted rings lol

for iowa in particular, i think those public celebrations and fanfare are moreso for fans than anything. hence why they did the unveiled the rings privately, just with the team and staff around, and only posted pics. Afterwards they went to the football game to celebrate with fans.

They know how much engagement and buzz their posts (especially with their alumni’s) will get on social media so they go all out. Again, why is that such a problem to some people I do not understand.

NC State recently celebrated their rings at a football game too and it boggles my mind how people could see a problem with this. im so glad these universities are celebrating their players because they deserve to be celebrated

athletes have one bad game or match and suddenly they suck and everyone claims "they were right about them" ESPECIALLY with combat sports. It's absolutely ridiculous how quick people will say a fighter needs to retire after one tough loss. (looking at everyone who doubted katie taylor after her first loss against chantelle cameron)

but I'm seeing this with caitlin clark after today's game as well??? she has an off day, and I'm seeing way too many posts implying that she doesn't deserve any of the praise she's gotten. like for the love of god these people are human, humans have bad days, and you could not do what they do.
