Probably the wrong month to say this, but it’s a little weird for characters to be made homosexual through fanfics and fan art when they weren’t designed that way canonically. I suppose that’s the nature of fanfics and fan art because it’s all fiction anyway, but it’s strange to make everything gay when it’s not. Some of it just feels forced

Just like David and Jonathan in scripture, there are ways that heterosexual men and women can have fulfilling, complex, and affectionate friendships or even basic camaraderie with the same sex without being homoerotic, and I think it’s good writing for us to explore those dynamics instead of just making them gay

Anyone else holding the tension between being a follower of Christ and also wanting to fulfill sexual desires (or actually doing it)?

I was trying to remember this verse in a conversation with my friends the other day, but I couldn’t quote it very well. So I’m glad I found it today!

“Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ””

I believe that during His 40 days of fasting, Jesus was mastering self control. To not be swayed at all by the urges of the flesh and to rely solely upon the Holy Spirit. Because He is God with us (Matthew 1:23-24), He was already mighty enough to rule over every city on Earth. Yet He understood that ruling His own spirit and worshipping only the Father, even when extremely hungry, is better than unethically achieving the world’s standard of success. What we have and what we can obtain is never more important than our level of self control

But I probably won’t let this app consume most of my time like I used to because I’ve been doing well [for the most part] without it

Since my time away, I suffered two breakups (one from a relationship and one from a friendship), joined a band with my best friend, slowly getting back into baseball (got an outfielder’s mitt, ball, batting gloves, and cleats but I haven’t played any actual games), got my old room back after my brother and niece moved into their house (so happy for them😁), been failing a lot with the porn struggle and honoring my word (as you can see with this post😅), and I’ve been beginning to see just how fully known and yet fully loved I am by God

Sometimes it’s hard for me to see myself as a son when I purposefully backslide, but I’m forever grateful for His unfailing love for me

I’m also grateful for His promises. I recently continued to learn just how meticulously He planned the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus—careful planning of allegories and over 300 prophecies given across millennia, all fulfilled in Jesus. And if He can plan that extensively without one word ever failing, then I can trust Him with my future. I can trust Him to use the mundane moments of my life. I can trust Him to get me to the version of Derrick that He already sees me as. I can trust that I am exactly who He says I am

I have no righteousness of my own; it’s all in Christ. And like Apostle Paul, I really want to know Him and the power of His resurrection. As I’ve seen Him transform my friends, I want that same transformative work to happen within me

So Happy Resurrection Sunday, I love y’all 💜

Men it’s okay to be told no by a woman.

We’re not entitled to a yes just because she’s by herself or for any other reason.

The same energy we used to give those shoe cleaners in the mall is the same energy that women are on when they tell us no: they’re just not interested. And we don’t need to be salesmen.

We’re not entitled to an explanation either. And we don’t have to create our own narrative behind the no.

Accept the no and kindly move on. Another woman will say yes; just not her.

1. A nickname of mine is Doidle. Years ago, one of my mom’s friend had brought over her daughter who was like around 2 years old at the time, and she struggled to say my name. So she would slur the letters together to say something like “Doyle” but my siblings and I perceived it as “Doidle.” And every time she would walk by my room, I’d be minding my business and she’d stop to say “stop it Doidle!” Like I’m not even doing anything😆😆 and she’s turning 18 this year🥹🥲

3. A turn on of mine is being able to have a great conversation with a woman. Sharing ideas, learning something new, and also being able to laugh with her. Essentially having the space to be vulnerable with her

19. My favorite book(s) would be Life of Pi, Five People You Meet in Heaven, and The Four Agreements. This other book called Small Worlds has the potential to be a favorite if I actually make time to finish it😅

I really love the IV of any key but I’m thinking specifically of the IV of F. I guess I’m just thinking about the song Lion by Elevation Worship. It’s really the vi and IV combo that repeats throughout the song. It’s something about that D1 and B flat. So glad we’re doing that song this Sunday lol
