I was 8, and my grandma had left town to the beach with her friends. My sister and I (me being the youngest, I was 8-9 I think) sneaked into her apartment and had a movie night. We watched the Lego Movie first, and I was like “Wildstyle doesn’t deserve no man. Fuck emmet. Fuck Batman. She deserves someone as cool as me!” And then came in the doubt of “do I want to be her or do I want to be WITH her”. Then we watched the first Avengers film and that pretty much confirmed my doubts. I mean, Natasha Romannoff tied to a chair, black little dress, and then beating up 4 men who are twice her size? My gay as lit up like a Christmas tree, and I’m not kidding. Like my teen hormones kicked in early and I was just like “mommy? Sorry”. That day pretty much confirmed I liked girls, but I always knew I liked everything. Soo it’s actually Bottoms. BUT I CAN EXPLAIN. I watched it this year in May for the first time. I was in a flight to the US and the movie was in the options and I was like “gay people? Great!” And I just drooled the entire time. Like the moment Hazel showed up in screen, I completely lost my chill in every way. So then after the trip, on the plane back, I watched it again. I have this au I really really really love and its become my comfort au at this point.

it’s just lifesteal as graffiti artists in a huge city living life that slowly see each others art around and end up trying to search for the other unconsciously.

Like they start becoming fans of the other, start rivalries despite the other not knowing, putting their art right beside the other, seeking out certain times when the art show up… stuff like that!

I’ve had many ideas revolving around people, like Red hunting down graffiti artists cause he wants specific styles on his buildings, Bacon mains social media posts of new art and Terrain being the main paint supplier. Slowly they all start connecting yknow

Lately it’s mainly Zam & Spoke being the *hot topic* of graffiti artists in there city at the moment but they don’t know who the other is and it makes them want to know the other.

Spoke REALLY wants to find Zam but Zam gets scared cause Spokes publicly known but he’s not, he’s more underground.

Zam hangs down low with Subz while Spoke proudly prances around the city with Mapicc in tow.

Zam mains 3d styles especially in corners, it grabs a lot of attention. Those are quite rare to find of his but they are a lot of peoples favourite, he occasionally does throw-ups/posters and he also does many tags that are found EVERYWHERE. If one disappears, two more show up. His is usually “PZ” with a yellow blob that has a black smile with a large crown over both. It’s found in so many secret spots and corners, no one has seen this guy making them but his art is super recognizable.

Spoke occasionally does throw-ups, he gets commissioned a lot to do pieces and blockbusters around buildings but his main is wildstyle. Taking over a huge wall, usually writing his whole name out or random words hes obsessed with at that time. He always starts by marking an entire wall covering them in tiny spots, he claims it helps him envision his new design. Crazy enough instead of his letters being crazy colours it’s his backgrounds and they POP. So much so that others have to focus on the colours in the back to even read out what the black letters say.

Zams heavily intimidated by everything so he can’t paint in the day yet, he goes through the night running around with Subz, placing their art beside each other’s. Subz’s style is heaven, getting to impossible spots to place his mark and Zam gets to witness it happen. Subz barely gets traction cause of it but the ones that are found make rounds in the community.

Zam had one day unknowingly put a tag over Mapiccs throw-up, a lot of rumours started of Mapicc taking offence (not really) so Mapicc tries to track down Zam. Mapicc asked Spoke if he knew Zam and unintentionally got dragged into the rabbit hole of Spokes plan. The plan to find Zam as Spoke had over time become really fond of Zams style.

So Mapicc & Spoke travel at night in hopes to somehow stumble upon Zam & Subz.

They ponder during the day living life and at night scurry around the bright city lights, silly stuff.

Through their adventures Zam & Subz find out who Mapicc & Spoke are in daily life as those guys don’t hide their face. It prompts Zam to make it a game to see how long they could go without being discovered.

So while Zams making his piece, Subz would be the look out. They drop clues in their art, even going so far to try and befriend them without them knowing. Starting off with a mediator and of course that has to be Parrot. Parrots well known at the skate parks and surprisingly has the most connections.

It’s how they get introduced and being subjected to everyone’s thoughts

In the words of the curator Carlo McCormick-

“While ‘Wild Style 40’ is in many ways a celebration of the graffiti art form that emerged out of this time and starred in the movie, it is centered within a broader circle of participation, including key figures from Colab, who were also forging new kinds of urban art, artists who were major supporters and benefactors of graffiti, the photographers who not only captured this movement but embodied it, and a few who have somehow carried these traditions with an authenticity and ingenuity that goes beyond what hip hop sounds like or graffiti looks like today.”

David never looked like the type, but he loved urban art.  It was a shame that vandalism laws were a lot stricter here and even in the heart of Tokyo.  He never saw as much as a tag in a secluded alley way.  He was stuck to just doing his art in abounded buildings and old cars in the junkyards.  

She took out his ear buds, not at all expecting to be face to face with probably the coolest looking woman he’s seen.  He also noticed she was in a wheelchair, a very rare site in this country.  He didn’t even recall any handicap signs or many ramps during his commutes. He wonders if getting around on her own was difficult. 

She was also a bold one, telling him to go buy her food before even getting to know him or even as much as a name.  Maybe she thought he would pity her for not being able to enter the store.  David should be offended but he smirks.  She had his full attention.  “Sure, as long as you can promise me you aren't apart of some social experiment.  What’s your name?  I’m David.”

Someone dared me to draw Knuckles in the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure artstyle. I had no choice but to oblige.

Stand info under the cut (I thought way too hard about the schematics of a stand that I’m never gonna use):

Stats:

Power: E (Wildstyle Pistolero cannot throw a punch, as it is linked to a cowboy hat, and cowboy hats typically do not have hands).

Speed: E (Wildstyle Pistolero cannot move independent of Knuckles, as it is linked to a cowboy hat, and cowboy hats typically do not move).

Range: A (Wildstyle Pistolero’s area of effect covers a mile-long radius’s worth of ground).

Persistence: C (Due to the fact that Wildstyle Pistolero is linked to a physical object, it can be harmed by anything a normal cowboy hat can be harmed by).

Precision: E (Wildstyle Pistolero does not have control over who is affected by its ability. Anybody within its area of effect is affected indiscriminately, save for Knuckles and Wildstyle Pistolero).

Potential: D (There isn’t really much room for Wildstyle Pistolero to grow. It’s a simple, straightforward Stand with a simple, straightforward user. It does what it needs to do, and Knuckles probably doesn’t need nor want to ask much more of it).

Physical Description:

Wildstyle Pistolero takes the form of a brown cowboy hat with a blue ribbon lining where the brim meets the hat. There are three golden circles embroidered on the hat, each with a single prominent red star square in the middle.

Overshooting:

When activated by Knuckles, Wildstyle Pistolero creates a circular area of effect roughly two miles wide in diameter. If anybody enters or is already within the area of effect, all of their movements will suddenly overshoot their intended distance by a significant margin. For example, if someone were to attempt to take a single step while in Wildstyle Pistolero’s area of effect, they would end up having inexplicably moved several steps worth of distance. This applies to every conscious attempt at movement made by anybody within the area of effect, excluding Knuckles.

Combat Prowess:

Wildstyle Pistolero’s ability wasn’t intended for direct combat, instead being better suited as a means to disorient a target before Knuckles deals with them himself. Against any experienced Stand user, Wildstyle Pistolero wouldn’t last very long at all.

Weaknesses:

Wildstyle Pistolero’s biggest weakness is it’s lack of ability to engage in physical combat with other Stands. Because it’s bound to a cowboy hat, it doesn’t have a way to damage other Stands (unless Knuckles were to take it off his head and slap the enemy Stand with it, but that’s wildly inefficient, and would likely get him punched in the face). Because Wildstyle Pistolero is bound to a physical object, it can also be interacted with like one, meaning that it can sustain damage from non-Stand users, as well as other things like environmental damage.

Summary:

Wildstyle Pistolero is a niche, but nonetheless powerful Stand that requires some planning in order to use it to its full potential. It’s not meant for hand-to-hand combat, but its effects can easily disorient a victim, leaving them wide open and ready for a knuckle sandwich, courtesy of the man himself.

Is there a way of searching that? 1984 is the year of the breakdance craze and officially the peak year for 'learn to breakdance' records. Compilations titled Breakdance in 1984 could have anything on them, some albums contain original tracks, club or pop hits of the day, others are studio rerecords, sound-a-like albums. The funny thing is none of them have any bboy tracks on them, NO BREAKS! it's all electro for the poppers, lockers, robotics, and street dancers? at least The Rock Steady Crew album had a cover of It's Just Begun on it, it's an awful cover but the original is a bboy record. Anyway, all the music below are original compositions

The Wildstyle Club - Everybody Break (B-Boys Version) + (Up-Rock Freestyle Version) this one is from Italy. The tracks are co-written by Tony Carrasco of Klein & M.B.O. et al. The b-side features Spyder-D which is cool

Merrill & Brown – Waterfall Steven "Boogie" Brown was the other half of Snatch with Bernard Fowler (not to be confused with the no wave group Snatch). Super Coper & Clarence Breakers - This Is the Way You Do the Breakdance this is a Peter Brown thing which has been reissued recently. I've gone for the 7" edit ,the full length track is almost 9 minutes. I'm thinking the bass line is from an earlier P&P associated production but this time played on a synth, it's going to drive me mad that - I know what it is, it's Gt Down by Horace Andy but that doesn't come out for another year

Alex And The City Crew - Breakdance this is an easy one to find. Alex And The City Crew were a crew from Holland. The a-side is filled with electro hits, Rockit is a rerecord by B.T. & The City Slickers. The b-side has original material and a few of the tracks have instructions. It's worth buying for the poster if it's still in the sleeve (see image below). There was also a video. I'll spare you the music

Larry Wolff & The Streetbeaters – Breakdance out of California, no instructions just all original breakin' tracks. It was remastered in 2021! and it's on Apple Music - you can hear the appeal, nowadays it sounds close to old arcade or early console music and that has a following

The Breakers - Breakdance U.S.A. (The Original Step By Step Method!) this is The U.S. Break Express Dance Team and they narrate moves over versions of popular records from the day like Thriller and Beat It. I can't find any snippets online
