💛 - What is the most impactful lesson you’ve learned about writing? - everyone has a different style, not in voice or how the story is told, but in the process of writing, and that process is never solid. i always imagined writing as being stooped over a keyboard and tossing out pages that didn't work into an avalanche of wads in the basket, but doesn't have to be the style. learning to let go of preconceived notions and writing when i can with what i have available was probably the most impactful thing i learned about writing. when i worked in the dishroom, i would write on the back of receipts or scraps of paper. same with when i worked in retail. buying my Rocketbook (not a sponsor) was a major change in my writing game, and getting used to writing on my phone has been super helpful too. so most important lesson ever - learn to let go of Writing Is Only Valid If It's On The Computer, and accept how to write at any given time with any given media. if it's able to be written on and if it's capable of leaving a mark, even a piece of construction paper and crayon is valid.
