Your art is crazy pretty and is super inspiring, if you dont mind me asking, what materials do you use for your traditional works?
thank you so much ;o; !! I don't mind at all, I love talking about this stuff
I use a small variety of things, but my big loves at the mo are watercolours and fountain pen ink!
I have a couple fountain pens I can refill with a variety of inks depending on what colour I want, and they tend to be water soluable so you can use a waterbrush to wash them out and create really nice effects. Makes it so nice and easy to make a 'painting' on the go.
For my watercolours I have a small box with 12 colours (a mid yellow, a cool and warm red, a cool and warm blue, cool and warm green, two earth tones and 2 neutral tones, and admittedly 1 white gouache for lightening and opacity) and I find these cover all my mixing needs, I find it so fun and rewarding to mix colours! Not only are they super versatile and easy to use but since they're all dry in pans and rewettable for use, they're suuper portable and easy to clean up (essential for me bc I'm lazy; if I don't make things easy for myself, I'll never use it) it's so easy to throw in a bag, keep in a pocket, quickly bring out to do a fast painting wherever I am, and throw it back in a bag without any cleanup.
I also have a very limited palette of gouache (6 colours: white, mid yellow, cool red, warm and cool blue, black (though I wanna switch this to a brown)) which is a lil harder to mix with but again it's so rewarding to mix colours right, and I don't feel like I need much more gouache. Adding white gouache to watercolours makes them almost into a gouache themselves.
For non-painty stuff I have a few neocolor 2s (watersoluable wax pastels, quite popular with sketchbookers) colour pencils, and tombow markers (also watersoluable, and also popular with sketchbookers/stationery enthusiasts lmao) they're really nice to combine altogether for a nice variety of textures! Even tho I can't mix colours with these I try to keep my palettes really limited, not only to challenge myself but so I don't go crazy spending money lmao

Hi hello Jude I have a $100 gift card to a one Blicks Art Materials and I am looking to you for suggestions as to what to buy
I would be down for experimenting with a new medium such as pastels of any kind, kinda interested in those wax pastels you’ve talked about, but any ideas are welcome bc I am in the mood for something new and fun 👍 so what are some fun art supplies you would suggest trying ?
hi hi so sorry i forgot this was in my inbox.
yeah so i really. hm. i definitly reccomend trying something out of your comfort zone. a set of ten neocolors (wax pastels, you can get the watersoluable or water resistant ones) is like 17$ish? which sounds like a lot but really you don’t need much more than the basic colors and you can always buy single colors if you really feel like you’re missing something crucial. i’d reccomend using them with a smooth paper!
theres also such a thing as watersoluable oil pastels, though i dont have much experience with them. but definitly something interesting to consider.
if you were looking the way of soft pastels, i actually really like the mungyo ones? they’re really affordable as things go (24 set is 10$) and are pretty nice. i use them with some conte crayons for finer details and enjoy them fine 👍
sorry im a little vague!

In ancient times, corvids formed relationships with predators, such as wolves, because they benefited from each other. Perhaps this was one of the first associations some cultures had with corvids. It has been suggested that Odin's mythical ravens were inspired by hunters' relationships with these birds... hunters would likely be alerted to old carcasses or dying animals by ravens, and Odin was likely created in the image of the first hunters.
Media: Dip pen and watersoluable graphite.

Got my first posca marker + some watersoluable graphite pencils and decided to play around with them by drawing some mussel shells :p Also used some colored charcoal for the sand.
And in true moosie fashion, these were done after midnight. Because apparently after midnight is Drawing Time now xD

Kolibri - This is probably not a very well-known brand, especially not outside of Germany. However this small family company has been making brushes for a long time. They have a small line of Kolinsky Sable brushes, called their gold line, which is an amazing value for the money. Some even say they are better than the Winsor and Newton Series 7s! Most cheap Kolinsky Sable brushes are not worth your time or mine, but these are excellent and I use them daily.

I was looking at some vitamin supplements, and I had a question! I noticed that some layman's medical websites (like Mayo Clinic) list a daily recommended mg dosage of certain vitamins, but that vitamin supplements for sale are often triple or quadruple that amount (like, recommended dosage 8mg, smallest pill sold 30mg). Is that because of an assumption that people taking the supplements are deficient? How safe is it to take so much more of a vitamin long term? Does it depend on the vitamin?
Part of it is that not all the vitamin is going to be bioavailable, so chances are, not all of that dose is going to be absorbed. Sometimes even most of the vitamin won’t be. That’s why the doses tend to be higher.
As for ‘how healthy or unhealthy is that’.
Well. That depends. There ARE such things called Hypervitaminosis, like for Vitamin A (wiki here) but they’re usually caused by people taking A LOT more of the vitamin than they should. They’re also usually also fatsoluble because it’s easier for watersoluable vitamin excess to be eliminated (by literally peeing them out).
But Hypervitaminoses are a thing that can happen. How fast they happen also depends on the vitamin in question. However, there can be quite some range between ‘more than your daily intake’ and ‘actively toxic’ we don’t....know a lot about what happens in that range, and how bad it is for you.
If you’re interested in some case studies on Vitamin toxicities, ChubbyEmu here has some in video format (here).
Now generally speaking? If you’re not deficient? I wouldn’t go to supplements. Certainly not as a regular installment to your diet. You likely don’t need it and you can in fact overdose them, so why risk it?

For day 5 - Fairies - of @summertime-spookiness.
This needs few words to it. Somewhen last year (or maybe even earlier? Don’t know), sun shining in my room through the net curtain made an interesting shadow on the piece of the curtain, that reminded me of some forest spirit or something so I sketched the shape so I could try to draw it some day. The shadow was just part of it, without the wings (looked like this. (does the link work for you as well?)). I took a picture of the shadow as well but unfortunately last autumn my notebook collapsed so I lost it. Anyway I’ve thought the theme Fairies might be a good time to finally try to draw this little creature and so I did. And it turned out much better looking than I’ve expected! Though as usual - or rather even more than usual - I had no idea what to do with the background and decided just to go with some smudges. Not the best but better than just the white paper I think.
Done with Marsgraphic duo (watersoluable) markers by Staedler.
