Unveiling the Hidden Gem: Bangara Kusuma Falls
Nestled amidst the lush greenery of Karnataka, India, lies a secret paradise called Bangara Kusuma Falls. This relatively unknown waterfall cascades down the hills, offering a breathtaking spectacle and a refreshing escape from the daily grind.
Tumblr media
Location:
Bangara Kusuma Falls is located near the town of Honnavar in Karnataka. It's a hidden gem tucked away on the National Highway 206, roughly 41 kilometers from Honnavar Taluk. The waterfall finds itself amidst the scenic beauty of Gair Goppa, surrounded by rolling hills that add to its charm.
Reaching the Falls:
The journey to Bangara Kusuma Falls is part of the adventure. While there might not be a well-paved road leading directly to the falls, the off-beat path offers a unique experience. You can reach Honnavar by bus or train from major cities in Karnataka. From Honnavar, local transportation or taxis can take you closer to the falls. Be prepared for a short trek through nature to reach the final destination. The nearest railway station to the Falls is Talguppa.  Click here
Tumblr media
Best Time to Visit:
The monsoon season, between June and September, transforms Bangara Kusuma Falls into a sight to behold. The increased water flow creates a cascading spectacle, earning it the nickname "Golden Falls." The lush greenery surrounding the falls comes alive during this time, making it a photographer's paradise. However, the trek to the falls can be slippery during the monsoons, so proper footwear is essential. For more details Click here
Itinerary for a Perfect Day Trip:
Morning: Start your day early and head towards Honnavar. You can enjoy a local breakfast at a restaurant there.
Mid-morning: Hire a taxi or take public transport to reach a point close to the falls. The trek itself shouldn't take too long, but take your time to enjoy the surroundings.
Afternoon: Spend a few hours at the falls, soaking in the beauty and the sound of cascading water. Pack a picnic lunch to enjoy by the natural pool at the base of the falls.
Evening: Head back to Honnavar, where you can explore the town or visit nearby attractions like the Bangaramakki Veeranjaneya Temple, located about 9 kilometers away. Click here
Tips:
Since the falls are relatively unknown, proper amenities might be limited. Pack essentials like water, snacks, and sunscreen.
Wear sturdy shoes for the trek, especially during the monsoons.
Be a responsible tourist and avoid littering.
Bangara Kusuma Falls offers a perfect escape for nature lovers and those seeking a tranquil getaway. With its cascading beauty and hidden location, it's a place that will leave you with unforgettable memories.

The Penna River originates in the Nandi Hills of Karnataka and flows through the Deccan Plateau before entering Andhra Pradesh. Along the way, it creates several waterfalls and rapids as it traverses through the Eastern Ghats. The river then flows onto the flat plains of the coastal region before meeting the Bay of Bengal near the town of Nellore.
