ok so. poorly articulated weirdly long intro to the blog!

Hello all and everyone i’m here to read the silmarillion.

im making this blog because the idea of posting my thoughts live while reading The Silmarillion seemed fun to me, and on the other side of things i love when people watch/read things i love for the first time & share their thoughts so i figured this might be enjoyable for others?

and writing down my dumb thoughts is fun and might help me actually finish reading this book cause ngl im garbage at committing to things.

some background info on me; I’m 21 and live in the US, only tolkien I’ve READ is about 90% of the hobbit and half of the fellowship of the ring (as you can see I have commitment issues to reading). HOWEVER, i have WATCHED all of the LOTR movies many times, extended edition with appendices. my mom raised me on the movies and indoctrinated me young. i’ve also watched the hobbit trilogy & enjoy it despite it being.. largely unnecessary. its fun and i had fun watching it :/

for some reason i really wanna read the silmarillion like. absolute bug up my ass about it. i’ve had a copy for years but never got past the ainulindale...  I did this time (so no live reading of that tiny story) and now i feel like i can finally commit to it. maybe.

also i’m aware that the silmarillion isn’t really something people live-read and idk this blog is likely gonna be a flop with no followers. but if it helps me read books and get less stupider its doing its job.

i’m hoping to read the silmarillion AND also LOTR as I own the books and have been wanting to read them for ages and maybe posting will help encourage me to do it cuz i love to talk
