イ. ⸺ 𝗞𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶 𝗡𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗮 𝗘𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗲
In the realm of nights and the melodies of the day, she reflects the charm of moonlit tranquility and daytime serenity. Identified by the pronouns she/her, interaction is restricted for those underage, abrupt, prejudiced, impolite, or promoting negativity. Remarkably perceptive, she tunes into the subtleties of conversations, swiftly capturing the essence even in the briefest exchanges.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Film and TV series enthusiast ( アマチュアオタク。)
She truly delights in engaging conversations and has a chatty nature. While she's generally quick to respond to messages, there are times when she might take a bit longer. Her passion lies in the world of cinema, and she's open to deep discussions on the subject, willing to invest a significant amount of time—up to several hours, if needed. One of her charming traits is her attentive listening, always eager to absorb information and insights from others.
She stays on top of the latest happenings in the entertainment industry, keeping a close eye on recent film and TV releases. Her taste in movies spans a broad spectrum, from eagerly awaited sequels like Top Gun: Maverick and John Wick: Chapter 4 to international gems like Titanic, Suzume, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and independent films such as A Man Called Otto, Past Lives, and Noktah Merah Perkawinan. Blockbusters like Harry Potter, The Batman, No Time to Die, and Fast and Furious appeal to her, as do action-packed spy movies like Mission Impossible.
On the television front, she's just as diverse in her preferences. Dramas like The Queen’s Gambit, Scenes From a Marriage, Severance, and Chernobyl capture her interest, along with coming-of-age stories like Normal People and supernatural/fantastical shows such as Stranger Things, The Umbrella Academy and Spinning Out. She, also, has a profound passion for crime, thriller, and mystery TV shows like Criminal: United Kingdom and Germany. The medical drama The Good Doctor is another favorite. Furthermore, she indulges in captivating international series such as Detective Conan and Youth of May, a Korean drama, and immerses herself in the timeless masterpieces crafted by Studio Ghibli, including Spirited Away, My Neighbour Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service, and Howl’s Moving Castle. Notably, she's eagerly anticipating the TV adaptation of the beloved video game, The Last of Us.

Kashi's musical palette is quite extensive, drawing the attention of many. She's into a diverse range of genres, including alt-pop, pop (semi-rock), and R&B. Her playlist features tracks from artists like DPR IAN, Charles Leclerc, Mäneskin, Celine Dion, Westlife, LAUV, Billie Eilish, Lewis Capaldi, and GFRIEND.
Alongside her love for music, she's deeply engaged in the Formula 1 world, with Scuderia Ferrari and Charles Leclerc, Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Carlos Sainz, Max Verstappen earning her favor as her preferred constructor and drivers.
Despite finding joy in the tranquility of living alone and cherishing the small, humorous moments that bring a smile to her face, Kashi is a sensitive soul, easily moved to tears. Yet, this sensitivity is complemented by her natural ability to empathize with others and offer support when needed.

Panic Room
(R. L. x Slytherin Reader)
"I can't just walk up to him and say 'Hi Remus, I' ve wanted to fuck you since we were in fourth year, you don't even have to go out on date with me, I'd just like to make out with you in the Room of Requirement.'" Elle pauses for a bit, thinking over what she just said, "That'll just give him a scare. Although..." She trails off, smirking widely. "I bet he can kiss really fucking well." It's all you can do not to punch her.
You're sat outside by the lake with your lifelong friend Alya's head on your shoulder, with Lily Evans, Elena Brasovean, Jules Felix and Marlene McKinnon sprawled out along the grass beside you. You're watching the sun go down, basking in the golden glory of the sunset, zoning out of Elena's whining.
"I don't know, he might like you back. But I suppose you're right, you'll just make it awkward." Lily can never help teasing Elena. She's too easy to piss off, and even a girl as sweet as her can't resist the temptation from time to time. Elena retaliates by swatting Lily's forearm, almost making her drop her book. "Hey!" Elena pushes herself from the grass, propping herself up by her elbows and narrowing her eyes at Alya, who's outright howling with laughter. She then diverts her attention back at the redhead Gryffindor; ignoring Alya's cries of mirth. As she's clearly about to think of a comment, you notice a looming figure in the corner of your vision.
"He's looking at you again." Alya points out, changing the topic. And it's true. Lily turns to look at the open corridors of the castle only to notice the black-haired Slytherin standing there. "He's like a lost puppy without you." Jules muses, watching the boy whip his head to the other side and continue walking— embarrassed by being caught staring.
"I'm going inside; the Gryffindor common room. Want to come?" Elena offers when she sees the slight frown that has crept on to Lily's usually cheerful face, but Lily merely shakes her head and tells you that she's going to finish the Charms homework first. You raise an eyebrow. You did Lily's Charms work for her last night. You shrug and send her a small wave as she walks away, the red-head happily returning a wave of her own.
Nobody questions you as you walk into the Gryffindor common room. You've spent a lot of time there recently, studying for NEWTS and chatting to Lily and Elena. As soon as you sit down on the couch in the Gryffindor common room, James begins bombarding me you with endless questions. On second thought, maybe you shouldn't have come.
"Has she asked about me?" Marlene rolls her eyes at him. You smirk, his behavior reminding you of a little boy who won't leave his crush alone ( probably because he has the same maturity as one— Merlin, the boy's like her fucking shadow! ) "Yes," Jules started, observing how his eyes light up and raising a perfectly shaped eyebrow at the eager smile urging her to continue. "I believe her exact words were, and I quote, 'what should I do for him to leave me alone?'"
A snicker escapes her lips as he lightly pushes her off the couch, sending a playful glare her way. You go to pick up Jules from the ground, but James shoots a spell at you, preventing you from helping her unless you want to be paralysed for the next week. You pout, feign offense, and crawl towards Remus, who is sitting on the floor too. And yes, you bury your head in his lap, pretending to cry. He strokes the hair away from your forehead and you sit up, settling yourself in his lap with your head resting against his chest. "Are you alright?" he asks, gentle amusement lacing his words. You look up at him with big watery eyes that make his breath hitch and you could swear that his heart stops beating for a second before picking up again and racing in his chest. You tense slightly. Maybe he cares more than you thought. Maybe... you gasp slightly as he bends down as if he was whispering something in your ear, and thrill at the soft brush of his lips against your earlobe.
"You're an idiot, Y/N L/N."
You reply in the most sarcastic voice you can muster: "I'm adrift in a sea of bitterness and endless despair. How 𝙝𝙖𝙞𝙧-𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜."
Sirius laughs at the scene happening in front of him watching with blatant amusement— taking another piece of candy from the bag in Peter's hands. It's as if he's in a muggle cinema watching a particularly entertaining film. "You're a bloody drama queen is what you are!" exclaims James, an exasperated sigh following soon after his words. Elena freezes, as if an epiphany has just hit her. She slams her hands into your chest and pushes you off of Remus, trying her best to keep the obvious red tint of her anger at bay. James clearly becomes perplexed at the now-quiet girl and wonders if he has gone too far— he didn't say anything wrong, did he? No, James. It's not you. But you know that secretly, you fucking wish it was.
Knowing that apologizing is better because better safe than sorry, James will of course apologise to Elena. His mother would often get upset at him and he would never really know why, so his father gave him a useful piece of advice; apologize even if you aren't really sure what you did. James had taught you that one in second year, when you had supposedly set a Hufflepuff on fire. "Uh, Elena, I'm sorry. I was only joking, y'know." Elena snaps out of whatever day dream she was having (probably dreaming of Remus, the stupid girl) and hides her dilemma with a joke. She snaps her head towards the wall, purses her lips, and acts in a rather bratty and prissy manner. Scratch that. It probably wasn't an act. "You've pushed me away one too many times, James Fleamont Potter." she says, her voice high pitched and wailing. She pushes her arms together, accenting the top half of her practically transparent lacy black and red bra, which she pulled out of the top of her skimpy red tube top a little more when she thought nobody was looking. Nobody can deny that Elena's gorgeous. At that moment, Remus turns to look at you.
You ignore the butterflies fluttering the pits of your stomach and avoid Remus' lingering look, instead ending your conversation with the Hufflepuff boys in the group and bidding them farewell— knowing that Professor Sprout wouldn't want her badgers loitering in the other side of the castle close to the curfew. You get up, making your way back towards your stupid common room with its vapid, uninteresting occupants and ugly blood purist passwords.
Okay, it's pretty obvious, isn't it? You like your best friend. You're in love with Remus Lupin.
Suddenly, you jump. A mouth tickles your ear for the second time tonight, while hands wrap around your waist. "Y/N. I hoped I'd find you here." Remus spins you around to face him, his hands lingering at your hips. And then suddenly you can't cope anymore. You try to take a step back, but he pulls you close. "Holy shit, Y/N/N (your nickname). I can't believe how beautiful you are today." You can't help but freeze. Rem hardly ever shows affection towards anyone, and this is twice in one day. Suddenly, a guy you know as the Hufflepuff keeper grabs your hand and you spin around. He's kind of cute.
"Hey, Y/N, right?? You're so hot for a curvy girl." Your face flames. EVERYONE knows you suffered with an eating disorder and this guy is a total dick for bringing it up.
Remus's eyes darken, and he walks up to the guy who insulted you.
'Stay away from my girl, or I WILL ensure nothing in your life ever goes right for you again.' The guy backs off, running up towards the castle again.
Remus turns back to you. '𝗞𝗶𝘀𝘀 𝗺𝗲.' Without thinking, you slam your lips onto his. Your hands move up, tangling into his hair, and he groans, grabbing your hips tightly and making you gasp. You gasp, your breath hitching in your throat. Remus kisses like a drowning man; like now is his last moment on earth and this is the last thing he'll ever do. The kiss is messy, and he seems to notice this as he slows down, slipping his tongue into your mouth. You let out a tiny squeak and kiss him back harder, gripping the back of his shirt.
'Fuck, Y /N. We have to stop.' You look up into his brown eyes and see fear etched into every line of his face. Instantly, you know the problem.
'Remus... I don't care if you're a werewolf. 𝙄'𝙢 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙮 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙨𝙩. If you can kiss a Slytherin, I can kiss a werewolf. Stop living like you're in a place 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙙𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙛𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪. You're everything to me, you dense twit.' And you grab his face, turn it back towards you, and kiss him again.
-------------------
This time the kiss is different, steamy and hot, making you feel like a toaster, all your coils heating up inside of you. Remus picks you up and carries you in his arms to the tree where you were sitting with Alya and Elena just half an hour before. You sit down under it, and then resume making out, planting little butterfly kisses along his jawline. He groans and just pulls you close to him, hugging you tight.
'I don't want to move too fast. Let's take it slow, day by day. We don't need to rush this.'
You nod, nestling your head in the crook of his neck and lying on the grass next to the lake with him, looking up at the stars. 'Can we 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁?' Remus asks, nuzzling your cheek.
You turn around and kiss him. 'Of course. 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚'𝙨 𝙣𝙤 𝙘𝙧𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙬𝙤𝙡𝙫𝙚𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙬.'
---------------------------

A few stray observations on My Neighbor Totoro after my rewatch last night.
I love everything about this movie. One of my favorite things is how it challenges our western ideals of storytelling: our culture has the unshakable belief that a well-made story adheres to all these rules of pacing, of plot, of climax, of denouement. That's not to say that My Neighbor Totoro is plotless or lacking in stakes, but beyond the given circumstances (mom is in the hospital, family moves, sometimes our two heroines find Totoro in the woods), there's really no conflict to speak of. Miyazaki takes his sweet time over the course of this incredibly short movie (it's barely 90 minutes) to really invest you in these characters as human beings and show you their world. Miyazaki once said about this film, "I would like to make a movie to show children it is good to be alive." He succeeded.
I would say this is Joe Hisaishi's best score if I didn't already feel that way about Spirited Away. It might be less overtly complex than his work for Nausicaä or The Wind Rises or Howl's Moving Castle (goddamn, that man's career), but his score for Totoro is unmatched as far as pure melody goes. It's whimsical but not simple, intelligent but not stuffy -- exactly like the film itself. The music rules.
I did NOT expect how many times I would get teary-eyed during this watch. When Mei visits Satsuki at school, crying and unable to articulate why she just wants to hug her sister -- her anchor to the familiar in a new place. When Mei goes missing. When Totoro flies them up into the air on his umbrella and the music plays his iconic theme. I even cried during the end credits, when it shows Mei and Satsuki greeting their mother on her weekend visit.
I also did NOT expect how much I would laugh during this watch. It had been a couple years, and I know this movie is funny, but there were a few moments that I belly-laughed. Mei saying she's going to run errands. "This is Mei as a crab."
Satsuki is a fantastic character. Mei rivals Emily Prime (World of Tomorrow) as one of cinema's all-time great little girls.
This time, I watched the English dub with the Fanning sisters. I think they do a good job (especially Elle Fanning as Mei), but their southern accent took me out a couple times. Japanese is still my preferred way of watching.
1988 really was the year Ghibli dominated the world. Not only does Miyazaki have My Neighbor Totoro (which was an easy high point in his career up to this point), but Isao Takahata also released the devastating anti-war drama Grave of the Fireflies. They've both solidly been my top two films of the year, with Fireflies slightly ahead at #1, but this most recent viewing of Totoro really reminded me how much I love this movie. I'm long overdue to revisit the Takahata film, but I have a feeling their placements in my personal list may swap. But seriously, who cares? They're both unbelievably beautiful stories of sibling love from two master filmmakers. If one happens to be one of the saddest movies ever made and the other happens to be My Neighbor Totoro, then we're all the better for it.
I love the catbus. Totoro is my dad now.

Research topic: Hayao Miyazaki, how his films captured the hearts of generations
Netflix has recently started to offer most of the Studio Ghibli catalog on their streaming platform. I grew up with these films and hold them to a high regard, I decided I would revisit some of my favorites and watch the films I had yet to see. I began by re-watching Porco Rosso followed by Spirited Away, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind and Howl’s Moving Castle. With these nostalgic films fresh in my mind, I will write this essay on none other than their director Hayao Miyazaki, specifically how his work became a nostalgic icon for an entire generation of children and young adults. Hayao Miyazaki in 2012. Hayao Miyazaki was born in 1941 in Tokyo. His family were well-off, their business; an airplane-rudders factory had thrived during the Second World War. His family's involvement with airplanes had a noticeable influence on Miyazaki's work, his interest in planes and vehicles is evident in most of his films, particularly Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind and Porco Rosso. (Greenberg, 2018) Despite his love of cinema and manga, Miyazaki's would not realize his creative passion until age 17 after seeing Hakujaden, or as it was known among English speakers Panda and the Magic Serpent, his creative endeavors began at age 18 when he began drawing manga. It wasn't until 1963 that Miyazaki penetrated the animation industry, being hired by Tōei Animation the same studio that produced Hakujaden. Here he would remain until 1971 (Greenberg, 2018)(Ray,2016) It's evident that Hayao Miyazaki is an exceptional storyteller, director and animator. Only recently in 2020 has Spirited Away, Studio Ghibli's 2001 smash hit been surpassed as Japan's highest grossing film. Why is it that Ghibli films capture the hearts of people and hold onto them for so long? I remember seeing my first Ghibli film when I was five years old, give or take a year; Howl's Moving Castle. My memories of the movie were hazy until re-watching the movie several years later. Despite how much I love this film, as a child it did frighten me, yet I was enthralled by the fantastical designs of each character and particularly the coolness of the castle of which the film gets its name. The moving castle from Howl’s Moving castle. Now at twenty-one, I have watched this film countless times and still find myself easily able to get lost in the hand painted backgrounds, charming characters and intricate details hidden within each scene. I believe the reason these films remain so strongly in our memories are because they are made to be appreciated by both children and adults alike. As a child I could appreciate the cool factor brought by Miyazaki's use of realistic and fantastical vehicles, fascinating creatures, and young, courageous characters whom I could identify with. As an adult, I began to recall scenes and subtext from those films which only began to click as I outgrew my childish innocence, I noticed themes that represent Miyazaki's personal views, his anti-militarism, his sadness at the damage to the natural world. The three main aspects present in most relevant Ghibli films that I believe are responsible for their ability to remain so strongly in our memories are their relatability, subtext, and visual flare. Each of these I will explain thoroughly. Starting with relatability, Ghibli films have something for everyone whether you're a child relating to Chihiro from Spirited Away, feeling insecure and ignored by the adults around you or whether you're a young adult relating to Porco Rosso, jaded and cynical to the powers that be. In an interview with Animage, a Japanese anime and entertainment magazine; in 2001, Miyazaki revealed some of his methods for creating Spirited Away and the motivation that led to its creation. "I have five young female friends who are about the same age as Hiiragi-san*, and I spend every summer with them at my mountain cabin. I wanted to make a movie they could enjoy. That is why I started this film, and that is my true purpose." (Animage, 2001) Chihiro and No-Face from Spirited Away. In this same interview, Miyazaki explains how the themes presented in a lot of films directed towards ten-year-old girls are often about "crushes and romance" which he felt this is not what they were interested in seeing. To better understand the demographic, he was going to make a film for, he read the shoujo manga (manga directed towards young teen girls) left behind at his mountain cabin. (Animage, 2001) Following relatability is subtext. At first glance you might view Ghibli movies as something for children with their quirky characters, bright colors and cartoony designs. This can be a barrier to entry for adults who did not grow up with these movies, but for those who saw a Ghibli film in their childhood they learn as they get older just how much more moral and philosophical depth there is to them. For instance, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. As a child I enjoyed this film for its sense of adventure and the terrifying yet mesmerizing insects, only after re-watching this film recently did I notice the environmental and anti-militarist themes at play. Environmentalism is a theme very present in Miyazaki's work, he himself is a practitioner of Shinto, "indigenous religious beliefs and practices of Japan" (Naofusa, 2020) which puts an emphasis on a natural balance and coexistence with nature. The movie also puts an emphasis on how war and fighting only leads to mutual destruction, two nations in the film are fighting over a man-made weapon which they believe would allow them to save the world, yet their authoritarian approach ends up with both nations destroying each other to be the sole nation in control of said weapon. Manmade “God Warriors” from Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. Finally, visual flare. I doubt anyone could deny the jaw dropping beauty of studio Ghibli films. Miyazaki's dedication is second to none when it comes to ensuring quality in his work, despite modern software and techniques potentially making his films easier to produce he chooses to have the thousands of frames in his films drawn by hand and touched up digitally. (Ebert, 2002) Apart from the beauty presented in the films, nothing quite captures the hearts of young men and boys like the coolness Ghibli brings to the table with their detailed machines and vehicles. Miyazaki had an interest in all things locomotive ever since he was a child, as stated in Hayao Miyazaki : Exploring the Early Work of Japan's Greatest Animator, Miyazaki took great inspiration from Milton Caniff's newspaper adventure strips specifically their "richly detailed designs of exotic landscapes and especially vehicles". (Greenberg, 2018) In conclusion, Hayao Miyazaki and his studio have proven to capture the hearts of countless individuals over the years through their tremendous work ethic and genuine love of storytelling. Whether you are fond of his work or not, you are bound to have been exposed to it and it has undeniably affected the culture and perception of animation as a whole.

One Piece Live Action
All of the live actions Hollywood has done has been an ass of a disaster. Just getting that out there.
I personally haven’t watched DBZ or the recent Ghost in the Shell but I’ve been in the midst of the generally dissatisfaction, to say the least, about both. And we all know of the unspeakable Avatar the Last Airbender (ATLA) live action.
But with One Piece(OP), that’s a whole monolith of a story that ATLA and Attack on Titan and others haven’t been before with almost a thousand chapters and episodes ongoing.
I think the main problem live action movies and their writers and directors have is that they can’t get the idea of the source being from an ANIME. It just sticks in their head and doesn’t allow them to treat this as a movie as it should be. An anime, a tv series, a book, and a movie are all different mediums and have completely different rules.
The thing I’m afraid about is that the live action will try to get the whole crew together in one movie and the fans know how long it took to get to Brook. I’m thinking that the best way to approach this is by following the animated movies’ lead, such as Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island and Dead End Adventure, and create an original narrative and plop it into the flow of OP’s storyline, kind of like what they do for filler.
Then comes the main purpose of the live action even existing, which is to appeal to an audience that typically wouldn’t watch anime and haven’t even heard of OP. So if they do as I said and make an original narrative like which was made for only the fans in mind, it might alienate the other half of the population.
Which comes in the whole situation of treating this like a movie instead of an anime. Get your head out of that anime is weird belief that everyone still has, writers and directors. You don’t need to spoon feed us everything by stating it directly and I think the audience who weren’t fans originally would agree even if they don’t have previous knowledge.
Let’s take Avatar again. The writers and director had a hard time with that one as they felt the need to add narration and world building and backstory within the characters’ dialogue and thus sucking any characterization from them and making it seem like the movie was just regurgitating information at you. Narration and Dialogue can be utilized to do worldbuilding, but it needs to be done right and not overused or repetitive. As I’m not an expert I can’t dive into this knowledgeably but I think this is the general consensus, unless they would do something smart and innovative with those things, but I digress. Even taking the anime in consideration, OP doesn’t use its narrator often, he mostly just shows up to recap on the fights or show where Zoro is lost at the moment. There needs to be a balance for both the fans and the ones who don’t know what they’re getting into. So worldbuilding is important, backstory is important, but what I believe should be the main focus is selling the characters and the spirit of One Piece.
This doesn’t mean doing as Percy Jackson the movies did by changing things unnecessarily, such as the character’s ages and the entire plot and the wit and spirit Rick Riordan put into the books. I think the Harry Potter franchise did the best in this case as they sold the spirit of the books, stuck to the plot, but was good at knowing when to trim some details off to fit the movie format.
So what I’m trying to say is that you’re translating something from a different medium to another, so it should be different from the main material. Of course, OP is going to be better as a manga because it works best as a manga. It has basically no restrictions on when it should stop and this way the writer, Oda Eiichiro, can more freely get people involved in the characters and the backstory. But there is a restriction on movies, and clearly the formula of shoving everything into a medium that has different rules isn’t working. The movies aren’t something the populus should expect to see an entire book in or an entire anime series in.
Another example is Howl’s Moving Castle, which is a stretch as it was inspired by the book and not based. But in my personal experience, I checked out the book because it did beautifully in an ANIMATED format but was completely different from the book.
So, if ATLA had been given and promised multiple movies, then they should’ve stuck to the plot. If possible stick to the plot. But it wasn’t because they weren’t promised another movie. And I believe, trying to fit the entirety of season one into one movie wasn’t the right choice for a solo movie. They should’ve cut it down. They should’ve stopped after the Winter Solstice, maybe cutting out Avatar Kyoshi and Omashu, though those are really important parts in themselves. The success of a movie done right, even though it didn’t have everything could’ve brought on the chance of another and maybe even more live action movies.
If OP is given more movies then they should stick to the plot. But the big difference between OP and ATLA is their versatility. OP as an anime series is more malleable and, in my opinion, has written the better filler arcs of anime. ATLA had a strict almost book like structure that builds off of each episode. So OP can have the possibility of straying off the original plot more than ATLA had.
To sum up, sell the spirit and character, never change things unnecessarily like Percy Jackson, don’t stick to the plot with a giant of a story like One Piece, and treat this like what it is: an action and adventure movie.
I know for a fact, it’s almost a given, that the movie will begin with Gol D. Roger’s execution and his last words about the one piece that prompted the Pirate Era. (and then Cinema Sins will say ‘roll credits’). Then it can go multiple ways. A montage of Luffy meeting his crew, young seventeen Luffy about to leave with his little boat, thinking back to Shanks and his hat, or just the flashback to Shanks putting the straw hat on luffy, and my personal favorite is just cutting to Luffy’s grin and the crew fighting on the deck of the Sunny where they can show their relationship to each other while in combat and their role in the crew. Or maybe a mishmash of all of them.
My hopes are that they will make Chopper cute and– the elephant in the room–not whitewash the Straw Hat crew. Personally, Usopp and Brook should be played by black actors, Nami could be latina, Zoro should be asian, Robin could be filipino or Indian but definitely someone dark skinned, Sanji and Franky can be white but Sanji needs to be or must resemble a french origin. Luffy can be anything to be honest as long as he acts like the character.
And the thing is, One Piece didn’t catch on in America as well as Naruto did back in the day, because of the horrible 4kid’s adaption that tried to make the show kid friendly which One Piece really isn’t (and that whole issue with making things kid friendly or maybe even dumber for kid’s to understand is also something that gets on my nerves). It ruined the chance of the show to be something even more amazing than it already is. The same thing happened with the live action of ATLA which made people disinclined to check out the animated show and affected the success of Korra.
I’m very passionate about One Piece, it’s dear to my heart and I really hope the live action isn’t a complete flop. I don’t remember OP for the fights, honestly, (naruto fights are more well animated and interesting) and I don’t like OP for them either, I like the story, and the characters. Luffy and the others say some profound things that have resonated in me and motivate me to this day. OP makes me laugh and cry and feel a connection to the characters. Not saying it doesn’t have faults, but I can see why it made the top and has stayed the top in shonen manga.
This is just my messy attempt at making a suggestion for the infamous anime live action. Oh yeah, and there’s the whole deal with how weird and wacky one piece can be, especially for western audiences. Well, if they can handle a movie about humanized emojis I think they can handle a rubber man and a talking reindeer.
Really hoping live action FMA is good though.
Thank you to nchanstories who talked this through with me and who I can’t tag at the moment because theyre getting some rare hours of sleep
