I saw a moose tonight at Horan Nature Area, a little park along the Columbia river surrounded by the city of Wenatchee and highways. My guess is that she must have swam across the Columbia. . Stunning sunrises or sunsets around Portland can be rare during the winter. So, when I predicted the possibility of a beautiful sunrise at Cape Disappointment, I didn’t hesitate to grab my camera and make the drive. ⠀ ⠀ Cape Disappointment is widely known for its epic waves. However, even though the cape is located on the west coast, the view actually looks towards the east. Experimenting with another edit since people (ok, me) liked that previous monchrome image.I wanted to try something similar with a backlit image. . I think it's kind of cool, but might work better on a bird with a more unique profile or maybe its's the pose... . Anyway, what do you think between image one and two here? . Maybe I'm just dragging out this content, lol. Between heat waves, wildfires, bad air quality, and work, I'm not getting many pictures even when I do get out and generally having low energy. One thing I'm struggling with is not having a strong break between work and not work since I'm just sitting at the computer most the time. Usually going out for a hike provides that break, but I think with the heat, smoke, and my low energy, I haven't gotten a good dose of nature in a while and so I just have this lingering depleted feeling. . Hopefully I'll snap out of it soon. Maybe I'll make an overnight trip out to the coast this weekend and try to see some good birds. One time during my masters, I got a gig as an assistant for an or ornithology field trip. We drove and rode ferries all around the San Juan islands and saw lots of cool birds including puffins. I've never been back to any of those spots.
