So like, why do you ship Laios and Chillchuck? This isn't anon hate it's just a ship i never really thought about and now I'm curios and I like hearing people rant about their blorbos
for many reasons! but let's start at the beginning, shall we?
i didn't know dungeon meshi existed until early february. i'd seen some media for it in the past, but didn't know any of it was related nor was i interested enough to dig further.
the very first fanart i ever saw for dungeon meshi was this one (it was on a different site though):
i didn't know who the characters were, but the dynamic spoke to me. it reminded me of two of my partner's OCs that we've been shipping together for nearly ten years: a big buff blonde guy who loves animals and seems stupid but is just socially stunted, and a short aggressive rogue with reddish hair and brown eyes who doesn't take other people's shit and is damn good at what he does. yes, it's that specific. these are them:
Tumblr media
even without that foundation to work on, though, chilaios interested me. i love size differences and i love ships between nice guys and angry guys. that said, i mostly put it out of mind after nick's first fanart, but it posted some more not too long later which got me thinking about it again...
and by then more people were talking about dunmeshi because the anime was getting underway. i spotted chilchuck and laios in posts about the series and realized that was where they were from, and that there was an anime, as well as a manga. that was all i knew, but their dynamic was intriguing me more and more, so i told my partner about it and said chilchuck and laios reminded me of harry and jeffrey and showed him some of the fanart. neither of us tend to start new media very often (i'm significantly worse about it, it takes a lot to get me to try), but eventually i looked into the series and found that the anime was brand new (5 episodes at the time) and the manga was completed. both of those facts were ideal for trying to get into it.
we didn't start watching until the week episode 9 came out, not for lack of interest but because there just wasn't really any incentive to get a move on. by then we'd both recognized that we'd be insane about chilchuck in particular, because we love his character type and he's very, very cute. and we were right! you could practically hear the canned audience applause when he showed up onscreen the first time.
we didn't watch all 8 episodes in one sitting, but we did watch several of them, and i think it was clear to us both that chilchuck and laios absolutely had a fun dynamic. eventually we'd go on to read the entire manga, and we're fully caught up on the anime, watching the new episodes every thursday.
the basic thing i like about their sort of setup is the way laios respects chilchuck and never doubts their relationship, while chilchuck is frequently aggressive and critical but staunchly sticks around and keeps helping anyway. it says a lot about them as friends: laios isn't worried that chilchuck actually hates him, and chilchuck's actions speak louder than his words, always staying and doing the best he can even if he complains. he wants what's best for laios, even if he never says it, and laios trusts him completely.
i love that chilchuck cares even if he pretends he doesn't, and i love that laios has utmost faith in him. i love the little intricacies of their individual backstories and the ways they compare and contrast. i love the way their personalities collide, independent of their existing relationship (as in, i'd ship them even if they interacted less). i love their size difference. i love them individually, as really well-written and fascinating characters, and i love thinking of new ways to pair them together and seeing what everyone else does with them. i love chilaios!!!! it makes me very happy and they are a perfect ship for me.
Tumblr media
look at that. goddamn. the way the shot lingers. the way laios grips his hand. 10/10 effervescent would ship again

The thing that you seem to be missing is that tumblr already harvests user data for profit, and that it will absolutely continue to do so regardless of whether people pay a subscription, because if they can make more money by doing both they will. They already see us as a bunch of chumps they can blackmail into giving them money, holding the old tumblr experience hostage and begging for money to save this site from UI changes they're choosing to make but portraying as having been forced. It's literally the same bullshit tactics the tories used to push austerity in the UK following the financial crash, just straight up lie about the state of your finances in order to generate more wealth at the top. It's this "we're all in it together" mentality when in fact what they want is for their users to pay them more without anything in return. There is absolutely no plan or announcement from tumblr suggesting they have any intention of using the new subscription badges as a means to stop collecting and selling data. The closest they have come to suggesting it is vague references to "keeping tumblr tumblr" - which is by no means a promise or statement of intent of any kind, it's an implicit threat to blackmail users into paying more to avoid their user experience getting even worse.
Okay, there is a lot to address here:
Be careful not to ascribe values to a company or assume lasting intent. Tumblr is legally obligated to value money and money only. If the way to get money changes, Tumblr will change. It's a company with investors, that means it's legally obligated to chase profits. It's not "holding features hostage" if it continues to prioritize the demands of the people that actually pay the bills, while saying that if the person paying changes, it will be able to prioritize user demands instead.
Not to be a bootlicker, but I can't actually find anything exposing Tumblr for selling user data. And since most of your user data is public anyway, I don't really see how that would work. I don't know for a fact that it's never happened, but I think you need to actually back up that claim.
Assuming they aren't selling your data, then their revenue stream for non-paying users is just showing you ads. Which isn't something they are capable of doing when you go ad-free. So they actually can't get you coming and going. You either go ad free and they get your money from you directly, or you pay by selling your eyeballs.
The above addressed, the main thing is that paying for a social media platform is a lot like voting. If you aren't doing it, you don't really have grounds to complain. And if you are doing it, then you do have limited but real power to rebel.
Let me put it to you as an example: If 80% of Tumblr's revenue comes from advertisers, and they decided to bring back porn, it would be financial suicide. There is nothing advertisers hate more than having their ads mixed in with porn. That's why they banned it and that's why it won't come back.
On the flip side: if 80% of Tumblr's revenue comes from users, and they decide to add a thing to their TOS saying any artwork you upload can be used to train AI models, it would be financial suicide. There is nothing Tumblr users hate more than AI art theft.
Who is paying the money controls what decisions get made. And if it doesn't, if Tumblr or any company ignores what the people paying them want, then the people paying them go somewhere else. Advertisers spend their budgets on Reddit and Twitter ads. Or users cancel their subscriptions.
Don't like Tumblr? Don't pay for it. Use an adblocker. Go nuts. But pay someone. Even if it's a platform that you don't use because it's not big enough yet or because all your friends are here or whatever, just make sure that you are putting some amount of money into the things you want to see in the system.
If you are not willing to pay for good and ethical social media, you are not going to get it.
some notes: I don't think Tumblr is the ideal social media. I think it's the most user-centric semi-major social media site that presently exists. When someone else does better, I'll subscribe there. I also don't like capitalism and this whole system, it's just the system that happens to exist and the timeline for overthrowing it is a bit up in the air, so we gotta do our best for now. I'd advise anyone interested to keep an eye on Lemming. It seems like a neat open source peer-to-peer ish social media.

The author kept attacking people that criticized her work and brought her circle to dogpile them so I'm gonna rant a bit here. This fucking article is so bad and it made me think about how leftism doesn't make you immune from misogyny
Tumblr media
WARNING: Indonesian drama. If you're not an Indonesian I don't think this will interest you lol
Like yeah obviously there are examples of debate streamers doing it *coughVAUSHcough* but those people are different from Indonesian dudebros leftism. These people knows sociopolitics/Marxist philosophy more than I do. They clearly read and knowledgable about it. But there's a sense of egoism, thinking that they're above the average Indonesian internet leftist masses because of their knowledge. They disliked feminists that based their views on living experience and non-heavy philosophy books because it's not based on logic, even if the experience is misogyny.
The article was terribly written too. It's confusing to read! This was posted on a pop culture media site and yet this reads like my thesis proposal I wrote on a 3 days deadline. "Ummm ur just too dumb to understand it" baby this isn't a philosphy journal. Alexander Avila made videos about sociology with concept that is beyond my understanding and yet his videos are easily digestible. Even though I have to pause to truly understand, at the end of the day I still get his point. Hell even Hakim, a more serious theory-based leftist YouTubers, is more concise than this writer. I don't get why patriarchy shouldn't be destroyed, there's no explanation about "analyticity", just using big words to appear as an intellectual.
The cherry on top is that this article was written because the writer is FUMING about one (1) feminist writer that said the field of music criticism is male-centric. HOWEVER, what the writer missed is that 1) the feminist writer is someone that worked on art criticism field for 9 YEARS and 2) she didn't link the tweet in the article itself, so readers are supposed to believe the boogeyman feminist she described. Had she linked the tweet, readers would realize that this person did address what the writer was complaining about. Such a terrible journalism practice and I am not surprised that a person like this is currently dogpiling people that are criticizing this article. Leftism can't cure misogyny.
Tumblr media
This is (hopefully) my only callout-format post I will make ever lmao. Compilation of the writer attacking people that criticized her work (PS: this is NOT normal behavior!!!!!):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(as I'm typing this, she made a new dogpile tweet. And it's towards the same Ann Putri person!! Keep in mind that she already deleted a tweet too... I personally loved Ann's writing and she knew a lot about feminism, but not in the LOGICAL FACTS DESTROYED MARXIST BOOK TIME way that the writer wanted. She's more akin to the feminist writer that she insulted in her article. No wonder why she's obsessed.)
Tumblr media
Compilation of her friends attacking people that criticized her work:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(apparently Tumblr app has an image limit? Lol. Lmao. Hold on I'll try editing this on web)
Compilation of her giving shade about those darn Indo leftists that can't understand philosophy:
Avoid Indo dudebros leftists at all cost. Insufferable pretentious people. The world needs more philosophy/sociologist writer like Alexander Avila and less like abang abangan fisipol semester 1 like these dipshits.

i'm promising myself right now that this will be the last i'll ever say anything about vanquinn or grace in relation to joe for the rest of this year because i need to distance myself from their crazyness but it's such a huge hypocrisy to make a big deal of joe liking a post about his friend talking about the time they worked together when he hasn't liked a single post on her instagram before. jamie is the one who is always liking her posts. they have begged and begged joe to post a picture with him and grace. when he first posted that pic with jamie, that youffie user commented 'oh, so you do know how to post pictures of your co-stars??' and then he went on to post one with fabian and the vqs were caught complaining again. so i don't know how they think they're fooling anyone when they try to flex because joe liked one single post grace made about her experience on st. they truly cherry pick what they want to read/see/tweet. (and i'm not saying he'll never post something with her, that can very much happen, i'm just pointing out that he hasn't yet.) not to mention all she's been through these last few days---imagine how many people, how many reporters of small gossip sites have tried reaching out to joe about the reason grace took a break from acting? he's obviously showing her support, just like he did at nola when he tried to cheer her up. 'but she also follows wes on instagram, that's a big deal!'. that means nothing. we know wes is joe's plus 1 everywhere he goes. i'm sure wes knows the entire cast. charlie was literally hanging out with joe and wes and they don't follow each other on instagram. fucking hell, not even joe follows wes on instagram---but he follows fabian who he's known for a long, long time too. liking a post, following someone means nothing. social media is this one big lie and people see what they want to see. you can create your own fic based on whatever you choose to believe. for example, they want to believe she doesn't follow ash anymore, right? except she does. ash only changed his privacy settings. if you go on pluto's ig, you'll see he's following the page BUT it doesn't show on his own page. but hey, social media is all the vqs have to keep afloat so i don't really blame them for making assumptions. most of them are victims of this new generation and its addiction to the internet. i find it hilarious how insecure the vqs are that they have to come here and monitor what it's being said about their ship so they can spread it through their inner circle and validate one another. the anon who said the 'interview' proved grace and joe are nothing but friends is absolutely right. the fact she clarifies joe was her closest friend on set is also a huge deal. 'on set' gives the impression they, and by they i mean the cast, truly only had each other and when you take in the fact season 4 was filmed during a pandemic where they couldn't see anyone else and they probably had to get tested at least a hundred times a week, it really drives home how they all bonded as family. grace was not red in the face, she wasn't acting like she had a huge crush on joe, she was just gushing about her friend. it's upsetting that vqs AND some quinnies are twisting that narrative. vqs because they need to believe grace is in love with him and quinnies because they hate grace and act like she's obsessed with joe. men and women can be friends. i find it funny no one questions how much jamie adores her and how he gushes abut her whenever he talks about grace's take on chrissy's death. he's been supporting her stream career too, even liking the post she made about it. they have gone to cons together where he's the absolute best to her and yet no one says anything.
It's not joe who manage his ig profile,if you notice, the only post "he likes" is strabger things related or about him attending events.
Grace made a video about stranger things and had only kind words for Joe (as expected, because except for the haters, all the people who knows and/or met him only say nice things about him) so it's obvious he liked the post.
Plus, they're friends so bo surprise at all, but we all know that *those* people will never acknowledge that because they made up fake scenarios in their heads, that they're dating.
There's no point to reason with them. The only thing we all can do is ignore their nonsensical posts about that.
Of course, I'm not talking about the fans who are genuinely happy about that, not because of a ship.
I don't think they check my blog because they're insecure, I think they check my blog because here, people can call them out for being weird and shipping real people without being bullied, which is what happen if you call them out on twitter.
They don't see the problem on shipping two real people together or harassing Ash, because, some of them, instead of calling out the people on that thread I shared they were like "but those were private conversations!!1!11!1!1!11!"
And then they have the guts on talking about us not calling out toxic quinnies? (Which is not true, but they keep making up things, lol)
And finally, it's so true how they base their beliefs on social media.
As I said, Ash is only protecting himself, considering he was harassed (and if someone try to deny it, I have the screenshots, and I'll post them again 🥰), I think he really moved to another private profile

In the post complaining that tumblr users saying "freak" as a soft pejorative, is that referring to the site in general or people within your own circle of friends, peers, mutuals and followed blogs? That's an important distinction. This is a microblogging website which blew up for fandom nerds. There's nothing overtly political about consuming media and they're still a big part of the population. There's also a massive gulf between theoryposting and applying lessons to life.
i feel like obviously there are nomries on tumblr but Poasters are in fact rarely normies. they usually have weird political views and weird sex stuff. etc. also theyre very online

We are all exposed to media, aren’t we? I know that you already know what media is and I realized that media is so powerful. Media is the plural form of medium, which refers to any channel of communication. This can include anything from printed paper to digital data, as well as art, news, educational content, and a variety of other types of information. Phones, television, and the Internet are all examples of media. The term "media" in the context of informatics refers to both the tools used to store data (such as hard drives, CD-ROMs, diskettes, etc.) and the tools used to transport it (such as cables and wires) or even spread it in its various forms (videos, sounds, podcasts, etc.). The media are expanding more and more toward this field's digital side in the modern era. All types of electronic communication that are sent across the globe via computer networks and fiber optic cables are considered modern digital media. The Internet and social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) are two examples of contemporary media that have profoundly altered our world. (Techopedia, 2020) Have you ever think about its impact on your daily life? Because I do.
Out of all kinds of media, modern digital media is my favorite specifically the social media app named Instagram. I really like its features. There, I am able to capture, edit, and share photos, videos, and messages to my family and friends. I enjoyed interacting with the people there especially my friends and I usually hang out together so we have a lot of good pictures to share. Whenever I had a free time, I spend it on this application. I am more active here than the rest of social media accounts I have. The impact of this app to me is unbelievable. It makes me so happy communicating with people and looking back at the memories we shared by the photos I have posted. It is powerful but the most powerful media that I know is Facebook. Like, do you know how many people are using it? In July 2022, Facebook had 2.934 billion monthly active users, making it the most "active" social media site in the world. (The Latest Facebook Statistics: Everything You Need to Know, n.d.) That is a lot, isn't it? The media has benefits and drawbacks. I think it varies from person to person. The effect it has on our lives reflects the type of users we are. If we are responsible enough, in my opinion, it is undoubtedly a huge help in our lives. Media in our country is beneficial. Especially on social media, television, and cable, media enables faster dissemination of knowledge and information. I believe that compared to previous years, newspapers and magazines are not in demand anymore. But sadly, I suddenly find the big media disturbing. Many people have complained about frauds. We must take extreme caution, particularly given the large number of social media users in our nation. The US media is more widespread than the Philippine media, t 97.84% of US households have televisions, compared to 63% in the Philippines. In terms of the number of internet subscribers, the US ranked number 22 while the Philippines came in at rank 115. The significant difference is immediately apparent. (Philippines Vs United States: Media Facts and Stats, n.d.) I came to the conclusion from our discussion that media and information literacy is the foundation for understanding media and its function in our society. I expected that I would be able to apply everything that I will learn in this course to my personal life. Media is powerful and so are we. Don’t let media control us, let’s control them responsibly.

so everyone who agrees she was abused is "misinformed"? but supporting him on lies and out of context info is being "informed"? all the info is available from reputable sources, sites like cnn and such have been reporting the entire trial but only you who thinks he's innocent is right and informed? die lol
— Lol, all this because I reblogged a corrected version of a post that originally literally said “amber won her counter-claim so that literally means the jury went ‘well we pretty much believe you were abused by him but the REAL crime is publicly talking about it.’” And I reblogged a version of the post that literally stated that she only won part of her counterclaim, so this is factually not true. (I have now deleted it, because even that reblogged version jumped to conclusions about what the jury believed and when, and there is no factual way to know that, so I didn’t want to contribute to spread misinformation even in this. But here’s the post I reblogged, I’m not hiding anything).
So, okay, let’s talk about the facts. The jury found Depp liable of 1 out of the 3 counts against him, agreeing that Waldman’s statement that “Amber and her friends spilled a little wine and roughed the place up, got their stories straight under the direction of a lawyer and publicist, and then placed a second call to 911” was defamatory, probably because Waldman was not there, he could not know, and it is unclear whether 911 was called twice or whether the second set of officers came by mistake because of the first call. It is a very specific statement about a very specific incident, and the corrected version of the post was merely trying to point out that the overall verdict, therefore, was not logically inconsistent, as some people are claiming. THAT’S ALL.
I didn’t even say I supported or believed JD, I just said that spreading misinformation is not helping anyone’s case. The fact that you jumped from someone saying “This particular statement about the verdict is not true, and that is easily verifiable” to “So everyone who agrees she was abused is actually misinformed?" just proves to me that your anger has nothing to do with me.
It literally serves no purpose to freak out about something that is not true. You want to have a fruitful conversation about this trial? Fine. You want to complain about the possible impact that social media had on the jurors’ decision? Let’s talk about the fact that someone introduced to the jurors, as EVIDENCE, the rise of the ‘JusticeForJohhnyDepp’ hashtag. You know who did that? Amber’s lawyers (why they thought it was a good idea, I will never understand). Oh, the Jury wasn’t sequestered? The reality is that this was probably the case because neither party wanted to pay for that. Yes, AH’s testimony had a lot of inconsistencies, which was not good for her case, but the bottom line is that a big part of Depp’s win is probably the fact that he had better experts (some of Heard’s experts were astoundingly bad) and better lawyers. You know what the reason for that is? Money. So let’s talk about that. Let’s talk about the huge role that money has in such a justice system, about how that could be changed.
Also, completely hilarious that you are trying to assert the moral high ground, on the matter of abuse no less, while sending verbal abuse and death wishes. For correcting a factual statement. Amazing work, just great activism. I swear some of you spend so much time on your little internet echo chambers that you have reduced people who even slightly disagree with you into caricatures of Bad Irredeemable People, so that engaging with them as actual human beings or trying to understand why they see things differently, so that you can convince them if need be, is out of the question. Because that is surely an effective way to further any cause.
Internet discourse has rotten your brain so much that you have forgotten how to talk and engage with actual people. Go outside. Get some fresh air. Hold someone’s hand. Talk to people in person and think if you would say to them the same things you say to people anonymously online. Think if this is the best way to change minds and further the feminist cause, or if you need to manage your anger issues with a professional, or through extensive soul-searching.

Types of Paywall Abuse --- A post...
I think it’s time to tackle a topic that might make a few simmers uncomfortable, but we need to talk about it, because in addition to seeing a lot of people complain about it in general, I’ve also been getting some anons in my inbox talking about it. So let’s discuss this.
Now, first of all, I would like to clarify a couple of things:
When I speak of PAYWALLS here, I am talking about custom content that can ONLY be accessed by paying, or viewing an ad through a virus filled ad shortener link (which is just as bad).  Pure early access content, where you pay for it and get it earlier than everyone else who gets it for free IS NOT PAYWALLED CONTENT.
This is why it is called a pay “WALL” because the wall portion indicates that you cannot access it without paying a fee/toll.
Second of all, I would like to remind the public at large that this is not hate, it is a critical commentary. I am not going to go for these creators personally, nor do I want to. I, as a member of the community who plays the sims 4, and downloads/uses CC, would like to simply hold some of these creators accountable for actions that are unethical and unsatisfactory to the community in which they serve. That is it. No more, no less. I simply believe they CAN do better and BE better than this.
Now, let’s get into the meat of this.
The main type of abuse that I have focused on has been what I call Permapaywalls.
Permapaywalls:
Content that cannot be accessed ANY other way than either paying a certain amount via patreon or another service, OR viewing a link through a virus-filled ad that puts your computer at risk.
There are many creators who are well known permapaywall creators, with at least 80% or more of their content being locked behind these permapaywalls. Sometimes they may release a few items for free, but this is very similar to being allowed to test drive a car before buying it. It’s to entice the user/viewer into liking the brand, and then buying in.
I’m not going to delve into this too much because I’ve already expounded on this topic a bit. So let’s go further.
The next type of abuse is what I like to call “Exclusive Loopholes”.
Exclusive Loopholes: Creators who try to “get around” EA’s early access policy by offering a majority of their content as early access, but holding back certain items only to those who “subscribe” to their “patreon exclusive” content.
There are some who are okay with this, thinking of this as a neat “bonus” for those who subscribe and support. However, the sims team made it clear:
Folks who have a Patreon page are welcome to provide folks with "early access" incentives for their content but it should be made available to the general public within 2-3 weeks of it being given to folks early.
- Simguru Drake, The Sims Forum
Notice nowhere in this answer does it say anything about BONUS CC incentives. Nowhere. This is just a method that certain creators try to use to keep people from decrying them as “big bad paywall creators”. This way they can say “oh look, we do early access, we’re following EA’s rules~!” while still holding content hostage.
Tumblr media
If you want to offer your patreons some exclusives, here’s some ideas:  * Share pictures of your process, or work in progress content coming up.  * Allow them to have input into your process via polls and questions.  * Have an exclusive discord community just for your patreons where they can talk to you easier and share excitement and input about your content with you and each other.  * Have exclusive streams where only you and your patreons have the link to see you go live making content.  * Host a workshop on how to make CC using your process. (I see all of you who steal meshes from other sites sweating over this. ;D)  * Pause billing for a month and say “you know what, since you guys have been loyal and supported me, have a month of patreon on me!”  * Anything that honestly doesn’t involve only giving those patreons CC and not releasing it to the public.
Let’s talk about another type, and oh my lanta, this type has had some anons messaging me ALL up in arms. I like to call this type “The Donation Disaster”.
Donation Disaster: Someone who CONSTANTLY uses the “downs” in the up/downs of life as excuses to not release content on time, or delay it while still collecting payment from patreons. Bonus “you’re a jerk” points if they then try to use those misfortunate circumstances to beg for even more money from their patreons on multiple occasions.
Look, we all have junk that goes on in our lives. But when that junk is used as an excuse for you continually delaying content while still charging your patreons (and not using the pause feature), it makes them feel cheated.  In addition, when you then ask for donations to help you during your difficult time, and turn to your patreons instead of the support networks that are around you (ex: friends, family, religious communities, etc.), that can be VERY off-putting. You might be able to get away with it once, maybe twice, without a large chunk of your community turning against you. But the more regular it becomes, and the more they hear about how strapped for cash you are and how you’re asking them to give more than their pledge, and you’ll soon find yourself being called a scammer. Regardless of your intent, or if your problems are reality, you’ll find people’s empathy for your situation will be lacking.
I’ve had a few anons in my inbox talking about different patreon creators that always seem to have an excuse for why updates aren’t coming just yet, or why x is broken, and with their excuse comes a plea for help with bills, and a link to a paypal or venmo.
Everyone has junk, don’t get me wrong. And it sucks to go through the junk we have in life, but if you’re reaching out to random people on the internet as your first method of support, you might need to be looking someplace else for support first before you come to the people who are already paying you for content you make. A one time “hey I’m in a bind, I need some help” donation thing might not be a bad thing, but when it becomes a constant pattern on your patreon....people aren’t going to take it well...at all.
And last, but not least, I’d like to talk about the last kind of patreon abuse, which frankly, is really upsetting to me. I don’t even really have a name for it, because it’s literally so much of a “what?” thing in my head. I don’t even understand why it goes on.  Now, this practice involves the black/POC community, and frankly, as a white girl, I don’t feel I should be speaking over the community and what they have to say. Thankfully @xmiramira spoke on it, all the way back in 2019. Here’s an excerpt from her fantastic POST:
Even new creators who JUST joined the community sliding up in TBS with locs and braids talking about Patreon only. GTFOH. I’m not okay with creators doing Patreon only CC PERIOD, but my main discussion is focused on NON BLACK simmers making CC catered to US, and making it PATREON EXCLUSIVE IN AN ATTEMPT TO FORCE US TO PLEDGE, and how people are ASSUMING that I’m OKAY WITH THIS, and ASSUMING that I’m letting it FLY in my community. Just because I don’t go off about shit as frequent as I used to doesn’t mean I cannot see and I am not doing what I can to keep the fuckery OUT.“Oh but your friend has a Patreon” I don’t have an issue with what @ebonixsims is doing because it’s all early release. It gets released to the public a few weeks later. It’s not being kept behind Patreon, forcing people to pledge to her. Despite this, she’s still doing really good with it. So don’t get it twisted, I’m not on social media arguing with folks so people just assumed I’m okay with this shit, I’m really not. I’m actually two seconds off dropping Patreon share folders. (That also have my shit in it) Supporting people is one thing, but a lot of these motherfuckers are becoming extremely exploitive, and it’s aggravating. It’s like you goofy motherfuckers sit in DMs like “yeah let’s make some CC for the negros and put it on Patreon” Fuck outta here. And it’s not even just hair, it’s skins and even CLOTHING STYLES. Y’all are really wilding the hell out. African necklaces, black girl magic chains, Juicy Couture sweatsuits. Who the fuck do you think you’re fooling? IM TIRED! Next time someone asks me where I got something and it’s Patreon exclusive I’m dropping a SFS link. FUCK OUTTA HERE!
Here’s the deal. The black community has been fighting for a while to be able to feel represented in this game. Here’s two articles (ONE, TWO) talking about this issue.  But the thing that has me upset is the fact that SO many creators of content that is AIMED at Black/POC simmers are locking that content (or a good majority of it) behind paywalls. And what’s even more shameful is some of those creators are POC themselves! They understand what it’s like to feel that they cannot make themselves or have sims that look like them in this game, yet they still lock their content away and expect people not just in the SIMS community, but in the POC community to pay through the nose for it.  The fact that this is STILL going on, two freaking years after she made this post, and that both NON POC creators and POC creators are engaging in this behavior is honestly disappointing and shameful. I believe black/POC creators should be supported, BUT they should be supported without depriving their OWN community of representation and access. And frankly, if you’re a NON POC creator and you’re specifically targeting this group to make money off of them with paywalls, I have only one thing to say to you:
Tumblr media
I’d speak on it more, but frankly, I’d rather let the people who are actually in the black/POC community speak on it, so if any of you want to let loose in the comments about this problem, go wild. I’m happy to sit back and listen, and I suggest others do the same.

Old School X is a project interviewing X-Files fanfic authors who were posting fic during the original run of the show. New interviews are posted every Tuesday.
Interview with MustangSally
MustangSally has 33 stories at Gossamer. Even if you haven’t read it, you’ve probably heard of at least one of them, Iolokus, since it’s an X-Files fanfic classic. All her fics hit big and are well worth your time. I’ve recced some of my favorites here before, including And Dance by the Light of the Moon, All the Children are Insane, and Iolokus. Big thanks to MustangSally for doing this interview.
What's the story behind your pen name?
I could tell you but then I would have to kill you.
Does it surprise you that people are still interested in reading your X-Files fanfics and others that were posted during the original run of the show (1993-2002)?
Yes and no. Yes, because life has moved on since the early nineties and the characters and the fans are in vastly different places now. Our current tech would make the premise of the X-Files impossible. No, because of the longevity of some of the Star Trek TOS work (there’s an archive of hard copy fanzines at the University of Iowa). Top-drawer authors started out in TOS fandom.
I’m just greatly saddened that my physical body is showing wear and tear while the fic doesn’t. Fic gets to stay smooth-skinned and muscular, captured at the peak of perfection.
What do you think of when you think about your X-Files fandom experience? What did you take away from it?
At the risk of sounding atrociously trite, I think of the friends I made.  I met some very remarkable women that I’ve been able to stay friends with online for over twenty-five years.  We may have moved to Facebook and post entirely too much about our pets and which of our body parts has sagged this week, but we’re friends.  It’s a furiously funny, feminist, and well-educated group of women with jobs in the highest levels of academia, finance, communications, and media.  I’m amused by the fact that if I have a question about how a virus replicates, I can ask a PhD I’ve been drunk with in Las Vegas.
Back in the day, I had a job that sent me traveling around major cities in the US and UK. I could post on a message board and within ten minutes there were people I could go out for dinner and drinks with. We already knew we had something we could talk about for at least a couple of hours. Additionally, most of these people were women so there was an added level of security. Social media didn't really exist during the show's original run. How were you most involved with the X-Files online (atxc, message board, email mailing list, etc.)?
Well, it was mostly atxc and the Yahoo! groups mailing lists that spiraled out into Geocities sites and, eventually, LiveJournal. The amusing thing is that getting in on the ground floor of social media and the Internet has helped me get jobs!  When I look at a new piece of software, I think, ‘this is hella easier than uploading to Geocities.’  We had to walk uphill both ways, in the snow, on dial-up, fighting off dinosaurs with our AOL CDs while writing HTML code. What did you take away from your experience with X-Files fic or with the fandom in general?
DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS.
The past four years in politics have basically been the ugliest online kerfuffle the world has ever seen. I survived the Shipper Wars of ’96 and I thought those were brutal, but that was NOTHING. The only way to win an argument online is to not have the argument at all. Arguing with a troll is like mudwrestling a pig: You both get filthy and only the pig is happy.
Also, READ THE FUCKING TERMS OF SERVICE.
What was it that got you hooked on the X-Files as a show?
I had the most terrible straight-girl crush on Scully. I wanted to be her best friend, I wanted to BE her.  I wanted to order Chinese food and paint each other’s nails and talk about bones.  Scully and Princess Leia and I could all just hang out poolside with hot and cold running waiters and poolboys, drink margaritas, and bitch about how unfair it all was – if the stupid men would just get OUT OF THE WAY AND LET US DO OUR JOBS, the world would be so much better. What got you involved with X-Files fanfic?
This question is really about Iolokus, isn’t it?  You can’t fool me. [Lilydale note: I can neither confirm nor deny the motivation for this question, but I cannot complain about the answer.]
Simply put, I was enraged. The moment it was revealed that Scully’s ova had been used in experimentation, I lost my feminist mind. It was the most obscene defilement imaginable.  Scully wasn’t nearly as angry as I was.  What I thought needed to happen was for Scully to become a fiery force of vengeance against the MEN who had done this to her.  Clearly, I was not going to get that level of satisfaction from the show, as I was imagining Kali-like carnage on a global scale. I emailed RivkaT (whom I did not know well at that point) with a proposition that we work together. Strangely enough, we didn’t meet face to face until we were well into the project, but we did talk on the phone quite a bit. The rules were simple – everyone had to be punished in truly horrific ways, and at some point, we had to see if we could write a car chase (only because that seemed impossible).  Then it basically turned into a very twisted game of chicken to see who could be the most outrageous in terms of killing people off or writing really horrific things that fit within the structure of the narrative.  I did, in the end, write the car chase, but RivkaT one-upped me by throwing in a helicopter (a FOX News helicopter, at that).
Really, RivkaT?  A helicopter? What is your relationship like now to X-Files fandom? I am terribly proud of what I wrote, pleased that it brought pain and pleasure in equal amount to people, and, again, thrilled by the people I became friends with. I admit that I stopped watching the show when Scully announced her pregnancy.  I could only see a long jump over a shark tank for the rest of the series. I haven’t watched the new episodes, either.  It is complete in my mind and doesn’t need to be continued.  I wouldn’t say no to having a reunion with some of my fic friends, although we’re still chatting online like everyone does.   Were you involved with any fandoms after the X-Files? If so, what was it like compared to X-Files?
Rivka and I wrote in the Buffy fandom for a few years, but then we moved on to real adult jobs that left absolutely no time for me to write. I’m in education, and I regularly sweat blood for fear that someone is going to find my old fic. The Buffy people were fun; there was a certain *shininess* to them that I really enjoyed. The X-men authors were just batshit and delightful, and some amazing stuff came out of Marvel fandom, particularly in the Thor/Loki and Steve/Bucky subgenres. I’ve learned to appreciate a good coffee shop AU and one famous Erik/Charles fic where all the main characters are crabs. Seriously, crabs—it’s hysterical. [Lilydale note: Other Crabs Cannot Be Trusted by groovyphilia currently has almost 2,500 kudos at AO3.]
Every few years, I’ll have a student try to explain to me what fandom is and I just smirk. Do you ever still watch The X-Files or think about Mulder and Scully? No. Not really. Do you ever still read X-Files fic? Fic in another fandom? I fell into an X-Men hole a few years back and had a great old time wallowing in the Cherik muck, and there was a flirtation with BBC Sherlock as well. Strangely enough, I became interested in A/B/O fics only because of what they were saying about the role of women in our society. The limitations on the male omegas seem absurd and then you realize those are the same limitations put on women all. the. time.
Is there a place online (tumblr, twitter, AO3, etc.) where people can find you and/or your stories now?
RivkaT very nicely formatted everything and put it up on AO3. What is your favorite of your own fics, X-Files and/or otherwise?
I will always be stupidly proud of how shocked and horrified people were by Iolokus. The truth of the matter is that Iolokus has Greek drama at its core. Scully is Medea, and the entire story is lousy with “blood on the threshing floor” and Dionysian rites. The everyday is subverted into horror, and wives and daughters will tear men limb from limb like the Maenads. Since I was ultimately disappointed with what Chris Carter did with the entire show, that approach seemed appropriate.
At a certain level, all fic is corrective fic.  Like critic Anne Jamison said, “Irritated fans produce fanfic like irritated oysters produce pearls.”  And because fic has fallen so much into women’s sphere, a pure form of correction is not just the death of the author but the MURDER, a new creation springing up from the spilled blood like Cadmus sowing dragon’s teeth.
Okay, that’s a bit much. Maybe I should just take myself back to the isle of Goth Amazons or something. Do you still write fic now? Or other creative work?
I had to write a self-evaluation and a reflection on pedagogy today. If that’s not fiction, I don’t know what the fuck is.
All my creativity is caught up in trying to pretend to be a normal middle-aged white woman so no one knows I am really a lizard.
Is there anything else you'd like to share with fans of X-Files fic?
Keep writing, keep reading, keep fighting the commercialization of narratives. As things grow more and more commodified, all our dreams and desires reduced to tchotchkes made in China, it’s a revolutionary act to separate your work from the marketplace. Be bold, take chances, turn the trope on its ear and kick it in the ass. Take everything the creators have done to make a work palatable to the unwashed masses and set it on fire.
Be subversive.
Be mean.
Have a great fucking time.

Hello! What are the RO's favorite social media platforms (and why)?
considering i've only partially thought about the specifics of popular social media in oracle (so far all i have is that the main one, scry, is like if you combined the connection aspect of linkedin, the nosy aspect of facebook, the forum aspect of reddit and like, the vapid news aspect of any tabloid) then for this i'll just do what they would like if they used social media in this time and universe
hebe: mainly on art twitter. posts her art on tumblr too but prefers the exposure of twitter. gets into her fair share of arguments over people reposting without credit and blatantly misinterpreting her favourite characters. complains about the toxic people but likes commissioning other artists to support them and deep diving into constructive criticisms. uses facebook solely to share pictures of her brother's dogs or to shade her sister. posts on instagram with windo and MC a lot, has an aesthetic theme
windo: goes on reddit but specifically the redditships/tifu/aita realm, occasionally the nosleep type subreddits. gets sucked in. sometimes posts in them so people can laugh at the stupid things he's done, e.g. TIFU by offering to hang a priceless painting for a friend. decided to improvise when i realised i didn't know what i was doing. gives advice on the relationship posts. knows there's a lot of fake posts but operates on the suspension of disbelief to connect with strangers. also has an instagram w/ a mixture of goofy, friendship and fashion posts, and a work twitter to give commentary on political articles
sailor: a finsta to scroll meme instagrams. they actually laugh out loud at some of the bad jokes they come across. doesn't have tiktok so they can sit on their high horse in disdain for it but has seen millions in the reels tab anyway. never posts or comments, just likes. they send the MC memes but not through dms or anything, literally will get up and show them irl if they find something they think they'd laugh at like a cat bringing you a dead mouse. don't really do public social media profiles because they value their privacy.
jelly: their finsta that they just post bullshit on. they have like 3 followers and all their posts are like a slew of every thought that pops into their head at 2am. their celebrity crushes, things that made them laugh for 5 mins for no reason, their take on soulmates, on fictional characters, nostalgia posts, dog pics, them listening to one direction, 5 selfies in a row of different angles, drunk posts. their public social medias are all very put together and well curated tho. pretty pics and makeup #ads on insta. eloquent linkedin. no facebook
twenty: barely uses any. dislikes seeing too many opinions that he didn't ask for. had a phase where he used to troll scammers (and sometimes just random people to be a menace) on habbo hotel. wouldn't admit it but he likes taking uquizzes. what kind of emo are u. what horror movie trope would u be. what colour would u be. 9/10 he’s not even happy about the results but he just goes :/ and moves onto the next one. has seen like 5 total tiktoks and only knows what a tiktoker is because jelly has explained it
noir: doomscrolls on various sites, mostly twitter and douban. hates these sites with a passion but continues to consume all the depressing content anyway as just one of many shitty habits. had a sadboy tumblr (because OF COURSE HE DID) in his teens that is semi-common knowledge but old enough news that it’s not really something people bring up to tease him about. black and white big gifs with text, angsty textposts, classics like that. pretends to care about his linkedin but god if it’s not the most boring thing ever to him. posts view pics on insta
honey: honestly probably normal twitter. her dn is just honey and her @ is something generic and she shares her opinions on condiments and mundane things like that. not really interested in discourse or fandom spaces and is not the most up to date in meme culture. she’s busy a lot, so she doesn’t have much time to spend online. watches those calming asmr baking videos on youtube. in her teens i think she would’ve been a fan of acoustic cover channels. had a facebook when she was younger but deactivated it because she never used it
jareth: his secret letterboxd. actually reviews movies impartially and passionately. nobody would ever guess it was him. not a mega popular account, but pretty credible. likes to take advantage of the fact he’s not taken too seriously by certain demographics, so he shares his more comprehensive opinions anonymously. gets genuinely irritated by most troll reviews. some are funny enough to let slide. he had a wattpad once but NOBODY knows nor will they ever know because he would die of embarrassment if that came out. sometimes says annoying shit on twitter but nothing too controversial or topical
ludo: it’s not really a social media but like......ebay. he can scroll ebay for hours whether he’s window shopping or actually wants to buy something. likes to look in the antique section especially. the habit started because he grew up with barely any money and used to curiously browse the kind of obscure stuff rich collectors liked to buy, but by the time he had income of his own (albeit not that much) he’d kind of convinced himself that he understood why people wanted this junk. now it’s like an addiction. he also has a twitter that’s more clued into memes and references but is still pretty mundane.
monty: her instagram is very well curated. meticulous, even, with selfies, fashion, meals, more ‘relatable’ backstage pictures, etc. it’s definitely a little too perfect but she’s proud of her aesthetic eye, and her public image isn’t fake so much as presented in a way that she gets to keep her personal things to herself. is the kind of celebrity to do instagram lives just to make her fans happy. made a youtube channel due to popular demand but doesn’t really have a clear plan for it, so it’s mostly just q&a where she talks about her favourite characters, funny set anecdotes and her met gala looks. jareth appears on it sometimes to talk about their drama greenwood creek and he suggests meme reviews and things like that

I legitimately don’t get why people are complaining about adfree. Like…it’s optional. Nobody is holding a gun up to your head and telling you you have to do it. And if it helps this site that we all affectionately love to hate, then sure, why not, but again, it’s not like you’re being forced to. And it’s a much better idea than post plus, which had so many tricky problems with it.
Also, yes, this site isn’t perfect. A lot of people who are complaining are complaining because ‘oh, staff haven’t let sex workers back on the site and they block nsfw stuff but they expect us to shell out $40 a year’ like, firstly, again, it’s fucking optional and they don’t expect you to shell anything out if you don’t want to, and secondly, @staff have explained time and again why sex work and nsfw stuff is real hard for a (relatively small) team of legal and technical staff to host. And thirdly, yes it’s glitchy as hell here, but it’s also got so many features that actually work. A chronological feed without an algorithm. A tagging system that 70% of the time works and is actually effective, particularly when it comes to filtering content you don’t want to see, which…whilst Twitter and Instagram allow, they aren’t exactly good at it, and Facebook just doesn’t allow content filtering at all (the number of people I’m friends with on Facebook that post shit all the time that trigger my ED, who I still want to be able to stay in contact with but have no way of actually filtering out those posts? Ridiculous. To the point where I don’t go there any more). The ability to imbed image descriptors into a post itself.
What I like about tumblr over any other social media though, is the ability to form communities. It’s the fact that there are communities of people I can reach out to for support with my autism that I can’t do on any other social media. I can be openly gay and surround myself with a community of other openly gay people, which I can’t do on my other social medias. I’ve been here across various different blogs for nearly ten years, and it’s the only social media I’ve ever felt comfortable on.
Yeah, it’s not perfect, but if you don’t like it here, you can always leave. And if you don’t want to leave, remember, nobody is forcing you to pay a single penny. But also remember that tumblr is a website that costs money to run like any other website. And quite honestly isn’t it better if we chip in where we can so that it doesn’t get absorbed and destroyed by one of the big corps like Amazon or Facebook?

Player - Part 3
Tumblr media
Summary: Y/N can’t resist Niall no matter how hard she tries.
Warning(s): smut city and includes oral sex!
POV: 1st
This was NOT written by me! It was written the insanely talented Anonymous! She did the pleasure of writing a part 3 to this and honestly its better than I could’ve ever done so please please show some love to anon bc this is one of the best frat smuts I’ve ever read!!!
Part 1    Part 2
Just over a month. That’s how long it had been since Niall last used me up like he owned me, since Niall last spoke a word to me. 33 days, to be exact, but who’s counting?
I had decided, after the second time sucking his cock and letting him ruin me, that I absolutely was not going back to him. He gave me the best orgasms I’ve ever had, and to be honest, I loved being used up by him, loved worshiping him. But only in the moment. Afterward, I just felt like shit. Both times.
I’m not sure what I expected after the first encounter. I knew his reputation beforehand. But I believed he must have a heart, that he would at least talk to me after fucking my brains out. So when he completely cut me out, I had to understand why, had to get an answer.
What I got instead was another mouthful of his cock - not that I was complaining at the time.
So when he dropped me off after our second fuck, without so much as a kiss goodbye, and instead a crude comment - “Try to think about something other than my cock” - followed by a typical cocky smirk, I decided there was no way I was going back to him again. If he decided to ignore me like last time, then so be it. I would resist all temptations, no matter how unrelenting, and I would move on with my life.
So that’s how I’ve made it 33 days. A torturous, agonizing month, but at least I was building back my pride.
I know for a fact that pretty much every girl Niall fucks ends up begging him for more. I’ve heard from plenty of girls who can’t seem to shake him from their mind. He gives them the best sex of their life, but then he leaves them in the middle of the ocean without a lifeline in site. It’s not like I felt superior to the other girls in any way; I mean, I was just as hooked as they were; but I did take at least some pride in the fact that I was not feeding his ego.
It was hard, mind you. I saw him on campus a few times per week, and every time, my mind instantly started racing, my face heated up, and my body began to remember what he can do. Now and then, he’d catch me looking, and he’d give a knowing smirk, but he easily resisted approaching me. I was just another conquest, after all, and there were plenty more to come in the parade of women in and out of his bedroom.
No one could make a girl feel like he could, and he knew it. He had nothing to worry about, no one to be jealous of, which made these games easy for him. I was pretty sure that if I crawled back to him, he’d fuck me again. But no way was he was going to come to me.
So, as difficult as it was, I was successful in avoiding him. I sometimes got wet just seeing him in a tank top or flirting shamelessly with some girl; I masturbated to thoughts of him many times; I even stalked his social media in my weakest moments, but I never gave in. I refused to give in.
****
On A Sunday during spring semester, I was sitting in a comfy chair in one of the little study nooks that are dispersed throughout the college. I enjoy sitting here, as it’s usually pretty quiet and I can concentrate on studying. I had my headphones in and was focused on a video that I was taking notes from.
I dropped my pen, as I’m prone to do, and it fell on the ground in the space between the two chairs and the window behind. I stood up and then bent over the arms of the chairs, trying to reach down for the writing utensil.
I then felt something alarming, but familiar. It was very apparent that a crotch was now pushed up against my ass, but the owner of the crotch was uncertain. I most certainly did not have a boyfriend, as I had yet to meet a guy since Niall who could give me even half the physical pleasure Niall could. I had a few girl friends who might joke around like this, but, as evidenced by the prominent bulge I was feeling against my butt, this was no girl.
“Damn, I almost forgot how nice this ass was. Loved watching it move while I fucked ya from behind those times.”
The culprit was now unmistakable.
“What the hell are you doing Niall?” I snapped, turning around to face him.
I was quickly overwhelmed with his presence. He was right in my face, and I could feel the heat of his body. He was in a tank top and his biceps were bulging, and his smirk was as bright as ever. It was clear that he instantly recognized his position of power. He was well aware that he could have me in the palm of his hand if he wanted.
“What’s the problem y/n? You weren’t so shy when you were moaning my name a couple weeks ago,” Niall said, his hand resting on my hip.
I was already struggling to speak. I was trying not to make eye contact, but that meant I had to look down, and what I saw when I looked down was Niall in some workout shorts with a very noticeable bulge in the front. I held back a whimper. Honestly, it was something of a heroic act for me to not give into him that second.
“A couple weeks?” I said annoyed. “We haven’t talked in over a month Niall.”
“Oh, is that right? I guess it kind of blends together for me. I don’t always remember which girl was when, although you do stand out, y/n,” he said with that smirk plastered on his face, “And I see you’ve been thinking about me, since you know exactly how long it’s been.”
“Oh please, just because I have simple memory capabilities doesn’t me I actually care what happened between us. It meant nothing,” I said, not certain if I was convincing him or myself.
“Tell me, though,” Niall said, as he brought his body even closer to mine, now pressing against me, “What do you remember?”
He moved his free hand into my hair, and leaned down, kissing under my ear, “Do you remember my dorm room, taking it on my bed, feeling me in you for the first time? Do you remember the back of my car, moaning my name and steaming up my windows?”
The hand that was on my hip has now snaked its way under the waistband of my panties, and he’s moving it very slowly toward my sex.
“Do you remember my cock, y/n? Do you remember it filling up your mouth? Do you remember it in your throat?” he asked, making sure to kiss my throat right at that moment, “Do you remember gagging on it? Choking on it? Remember how big it is?"
I let out the smallest gasp and Niall smiled against my skin, as he continued kissing and dirty talking. His lower hand then finally reached my sex, and he felt the wetness instantly. I had no way to lie; the evidence was right there; he had me yet again.
"Oh, my, y/n, in the middle of the science building, and here you are all wet for me. Wow. You must’ve been thinking about this non-stop for … a month did you say? Musta been tough. Well let me make it a little easier for you tonight, huh?”
A finger entered me and then a second. He continued leaving light kisses on me, as his fingers moved expertly, in and out. His bulge was pressed up against my thigh. My limbs were loose at my side. I had no control; all I could do was take his assault of pleasure.
“Say thank you,” Niall goaded, continuing his actions but now staring into my eyes.
All I could muster was a few heavy breaths until finally I whimpered, “Thank you, Niall.”
He pulled his hand out and stepped away in one motion. He said, “You’re welcome” and then stuck his wet fingers in front of my mouth. I opened in a haze, and he chuckled as he pushed my own wetness into my mouth. I sucked them clean. Niall smiled big and said, “Should be easier now to get to your orgasm tonight,” then winked and turned around.
And all I could do was stare at that perfect body - his muscular back, broad shoulders, firm butt - as he walked away.
****
Another two days passed, and I heard nothing from Niall. After all those days avoiding him, trying to get him out of my head, he swooped in, teased me to the brink of orgasm, and then just left me high and dry. He clearly refused to even entertain the notion of committing to any kind of relationship with me, and yet he still couldn’t just let me be at peace. It’s like he wants me to suffer.
I tried to return to my previous strategy, avoiding him at all costs, erasing the idea of “us” from my head. But it wasn’t the thoughts of a relationship that I struggled with; it was the thoughts of lust. The way he pushed me to a near orgasm in about 30 seconds in the middle of a school hallway reminded me of the intense pleasure I felt the two times he fucked me.
The last two nights, while in my bed, my attempts to resist thinking about him were embarrassingly short. As I closed my eyes, my brain immediately focused on him. I remembered his touch, his cocky demeanor, his bright eyes, his smirk, his kiss. And then I remembered his cock, the weight of it, the way it filled my throat. I remembered the boastful look on his face every time I peered up at him while he used my mouth. I remembered the sweat that gathered on his built chest as he fucked into me.
As the thoughts raced through my head, my hand made its way back into my panties, and I quickly found myself hitting my high, quietly moaning his name. And both nights, after the climax, an immediate shame washed over me.
How easily he had taken ownership of me again.
On the third day, I had decided that it must stop. I would return to my life, one that does not involve an arrogant asshole like Niall. He could continue his fuckboy destiny, while I would move on to better things. One setback would not be enough to deter me.
I was mostly successful. Thankfully I didn’t see him around campus that day. Seeing a couple kissing in the hallway or a particularly fit boy in workout clothes triggered an unwelcome thought, now and then, but I would quickly bury it in the back of my mind.
That night, I was feeling good. I had decided I was going to stay up and watch some shows, until I was so tired that I would fall asleep without even thinking. That was the best way to avoid those late night thoughts of the boy I refused to acknowledge. It was 10:30 p.m. and I was into the third episode of one of my go-to lighthearted sitcoms when my phone buzzed. I figured it was one of my friends, asking about plans for tomorrow, so I unlocked the phone while keeping my eyes on the show. I brought the phone to my face, and I almost choked. It had opened to a text message. A text message from Niall. It wasn’t just words; there was a photo, too.
What appeared in front of my eyes was a shirtless and pant less Niall, sitting up in bed. His skin was tanned and so smooth, except around his chest, where the hair was matted down. I could see every defined muscle – the biceps, the chest, abs, shoulders, thighs. And then my eyes were led to his crotch. He was wearing white boxers briefs that might’ve been too small for him, as his cock could clearly be seen bulging through. One of his hands rested right by the bulge, emphasizing it.
The caption wrote: “Figured ya were thinkin about this, so thought I’d just give ya a real picture to replace the mental one. I haven’t fucked since yesterday, so it’s even more ready to go than usual.”
I was appalled by his action, by his lack of manners and by the fact that he readily admitted he’s fucking a different girl almost every day. Does he really think admitting he’s a man whore makes him more appealing? Unfortunately, though, he’s probably right.
Disgusted as I might have been, I was also instantly hot. Seeing him in this primal form is just too much to handle. His aura reeks of sex, and no matter how much I hate him as a person, he’s the best sex I’ve ever had, and I doubt I’ll ever meet another person who can make me feel what he can. He’s perfection in my eyes, and in moments like this, I live to worship him. My mind goes in a thousand directions, all of them leading to his cock. My fingers are already rubbing my clit, and I’m well on my way to an orgasm.
Another text comes in: “Say thank you.” And as I hit my high seconds later, it comes out as the most pathetic of whimpers: “Thank you, Niall.”
****
Another three days and nothing from Niall. But it’s not like he needs to do anything. He’s already living rent free in my mind. I had decided to let him overwhelm me, because after that photo came in, I had no power to resist. I was not even close to deleting it, instead staring at it, drooling over it, each night I went to bed. I wanted his cock more than anything else in the world. But with some kind of false belief that I still had my dignity, I refused to reach out to him, refused to beg him for sex, like I’m sure so many girls have done before. Instead, I let my thoughts and that photo take care of my desire for him. I would eventually delete the photo, go back to my plan of moving on with life. I just needed a few days of quietly obsessing over him, and then I could work on pushing him out again.
It was a Saturday morning, and I headed to the gym. One way I was trying to maintain my sanity, besides spending a lot of time with friends and studying, was to keep fit. I wasn’t about to be in magazines, but I could be healthy, and I was at least pretty enough for Niall to fuck twice and continue to torture, so I guess that’s pretty good.
I set myself up on the treadmill, where I spent most of my time while in the gym, and I started jogging. I did my best to focus on the workout, drowning out unwanted thoughts with music from my earbuds. I was moving along well, increasing speed, when I made the unfortunate decision to open my eyes.
There are a number of mirrors lining the wall, about 10 feet in front of the treadmills, and in them I could see most of the rest of the gym. And in one mirror, I could see the weight lifting station, and there was Niall. He wore a blue tank top with a gold chain and those same tight workout shorts I saw him in a few days ago. He was lifting what appeared to be a lot of weight, at least to me. And he was making it look easy. His biceps moved with every motion, and my core throbbed instantly. He was just so hot.
After several seconds of my eyes fixated on him through the mirror, he apparently felt the gaze and looked toward the same mirror. We made eye contact through the reflection, and he smirked. I almost tripped but regained my composure and looked straight ahead.
I was completely unable to stay focused. I continually stole glances toward him, as he continued to do more weight training, and he caught me looking multiple times. He even licked his lips on one occasion, which did nothing to help the dampening feeling in my underwear. He hadn’t even approached me yet, and yet he already knew he had me.
After about 15 minutes, I heard his voice behind me, “Hey Y/N, is there something over by the weights I can get ya? I noticed you kept lookin over there.”
I put my feet on either side of the treadmill, pulled my earbuds out and looked his way. Breathing heavily, I said, “Uh, no. I, uh, was just looking around I guess.”
Niall smiled, “Oh, I see. Well do ya wanna turn that machine off? Seems like ya could use a breather.”
I froze for a couple seconds, before listening to him and powering down the treadmill, turning around to look at him, no words forming. At that moment, the only other person in the gym went out the door, and a smirk appeared on Niall’s face.
“Why don’t you come sit?” Niall said, patting his hand on a nearby bench press seat.
It was phrased as a question, but it was unquestionably a command. He was testing how obedient I would be. I did as he asked, and sat at the edge of the seat. I was feeling vulnerable and powerless, but mostly just aroused.
Niall knelt down on his feet in front of me, staring into my eyes with a mischievous smile on his face. After a few seconds, he grabbed one of my feet, and took off the running shoe and then the sock. He did the same with the other foot. He then started massaging one foot with both hands.
“I saw ya workin hard there, y/n. Tryin to get yourself lookin good?” Niall asked, still rubbing my foot.
“Uh, I guess, yeah,” I meekly responded.
“Hmmm.. who are ya tryin to look good for?”
“I don’t know. I..”
“I think it might be me,” Niall interrupted with an almost aggressive smirk, “Or maybe you’re just tryna distract yourself so you don’t haveta think about me?”
I was speechless. He chuckled, switching to rubbing my other foot and asking, “Did ya like the picture I sent ya the other night? Bet ya didn’t delete it, did ya?”
I was still unable to speak, so I just shook my head, and his smile grew bigger.
“Mmm, good,” Niall said, dropping my foot down and standing up straight, the bulge in his shorts about a foot away from my face, “Why don’t you take those shorts off, y/n? Think ya need to cool off a little.”
I hesitated, but not for long, and I slowly pulled down my running shorts, leaving just my panties, which were obviously wet.
“Why are you soaked?” Niall asked abruptly.
“Answer.”
“You,” was all I could manage to get out.
“Of course,” he chuckled, “I guess you weren’t just ‘lookin around’ earlier, huh? You musta liked watchin me work out. Go ahead and take your tank top off now.”
It was actually just a sports bra, but it’s not like Niall was going to care, so I just ignored that and obeyed the command. It was a little tough, having worked up a sweat, but I managed to pull the layer of clothing over my head, leaving my breasts exposed.
“Very good,” Niall smiled, “You listen very well, y/n.”
He then pulled off his own shorts, leaving his socks and shoes on. He was in white underwear again, but this time spandex, which he probably wore for working out. The outline of his cock was so prominent, he might as well have had nothing on. He then peeled off his tank top, leaving only his chain dangling on his hairy chest. His body was glistening.
“Lay back,” Niall said, as he moved forward.
I obeyed. I would do anything he told me to do right now. My head was now rested just short of the bench press par, with my butt still on the edge of the seat. Niall positioned himself above my crotch, one leg on each side of the bench press seat. When I moved my head up a bit to look forward, all I saw was his crotch and the straining bulge in the front of his spandex. I was overwhelmed at this point.
“Want me to make ya feel good, y/n?” he asked, talking to me like I was a child, “Want me to make ya cum?”
I nodded, breathing ragged. He smirked and then lowered himself down, his bulge pressing against my heat. He then leaned his torso forward and put his arms on either side of my head. And he started rocking his hips. The feeling was indescribable. I remembered just how big he is, as his cock pressed against my folds over and over again. I was sopping in my panties, making his underwear wet, too, and his thrusts started making wet noises.
“How does this cock feel, y/n?” he asked.
“So good,” I whimpered, “It’s so big, Niall.”
He chuckled, looking into my eyes, still thrusting, “I know that y/n. You know how many girls have told me how big I am, how I’m the best they’ve ever had. Is it true, y/n? Am I the best?”
“You’re the best, Niall,” I blurted out, “God, you’re incredible.”
“Yeah? Do you think about me when you’re alone at night?”
“Yes, Niall.”
“What do you think about?”
“Your cock, Niall.”
He smiled a huge smile, “Cum in your panties, y/n” he said, as his thrusts got even more forceful. It felt like his cock was actually railing inside me now.
“Cum jus like ya do when ya think about me in yer little bed at night, pretending like ya hate me, but never gettin me out of yer head.”
“Ohh, Niall,” I panted.
“That’s right, y/n. This is the real thing. Ya got my cock rubbin up against yer pussy. Ya feel that? Ya feel how big it is? Feel how good I fuck ya?’
“Yes, Niall, yes,” I shouted.
My orgasm came in, and as I hit my climax, there was no stopping my real thoughts from coming out in a flurry of moans and pants, “No one can make me feel like you can. You’re the best. I think about your cock all the time.”
Niall was beaming at this point, staring down at me. He was so masculine, his chest sweating and his biceps flexing as he held himself up above me. His gold chain was bouncing against his chest, as he thrusted hard and fast. The sight was enough to just about kill me, and my final high hit like a ton of bricks. I screamed out his name.
As I came down, Niall stood up and got out of his underwear. His cock jumping out, smacking against his abs and resting in place. He now only had his chain and his shoes and socks on, and as I looked up, I could’ve sworn he was a fitness model. His broad shoulders lead down to a skinny waist. His muscles were so defined all over.
“Now ya have some work to do,” Niall said, as he repositioned himself over me on the bench press.
This time though, he moved up, so he was sitting on my chest, above my breasts. His cock was is my face. He reached behind my head and grabbed my hair. Pulling my head up a bit, he made a ponytail from my hair. He then grabbed his cock with his other hand. He had to stand up a bit and move back, because his cock was too long, and he needed to adjust to get it in front of my mouth.
“Open up,” he said.
I was totally fucked out at this point, and would only be able to respond to simple commands. I opened wide, and he slowly pushed in. After a few inches, my mouth felt full, but he wasn’t even halfway. He continued to slowly push in, reaching my throat, and pushing down it.
“Oh, that feels good, y/n,” Niall said, tilting his head up and closing his eyes, as he continued pushing in.
I was gagging a bit, but he continued pushing in further, “Don’t worry. Your throat will get used to it. They always do.”
I couldn’t even think about the arrogance of what he just said, because I was too entranced, too overcome by him. I belonged to him. After pushing all the way in, my nose now in his sweaty pubes, Niall finally pulled all the way out. He looked down, smiling, and used his thumb to wipe the tears that were coming out of my eyes.
“Do ya like sucking on me cock, y/n?” he asked, started to jerk himself off.
I nodded.
“Say it. Tell me how ya feel,” he commanded.
“I.. I love..,” I started, taking a badly needed breath, “I love how big it feels in my mouth … (deep breath) and how it stretches my throat … (deep breath) and I love looking up and seeing you above me.”
Niall put on a more gentle smile. “Good girl,” he said, as he softly caressed my cheek.
He then stood up, his cock bouncing above me. “Lay your head down,” he ordered. I did as I was told.
“Open up.” I listened again, and Niall knelt a bit, grabbing the back of my head with one hand and directing his cock back into my mouth with the other.
He then started thrusting his hips. He couldn’t even fit his whole cock with each thrust, hitting the back of my throat over and over.
I gagged and choked, as drool started coming out. He’d give me short breaks to catch my breath before thrusting some more. All I could see when I looked up was his sweaty body and that gold chain bouncing up and down.
“Love this mouth, y/n. Love how ya used to use it to insult me, but now all ya can do is open it up and let me in. Ya can’t get enough, can ya? I could do this anytime I wanted, huh? Ya tried to resist me, but now I own ya. Ya love this cock.”
I was getting wet again just from his words. I was aware that I would feel like shit later, but I was willing to give anything for this pleasure. I just wanted to worship him; to give him everything he wanted.
Niall suddenly pulled his cock out and put his hands behind his back, “Choke on it,” he said.
I looked confused for a moment. “Push it down yer throat and don’t let go til I say so.”
I had to lean up to get to him. I grabbed it with one hand, but he quickly swatted it away, and I understood. I leaned forward and slowly started pushing his cock in. It hit my throat, and I gagged, but I kept going, pushing and pushing until I finally reached his pubes. I stayed put. It was hard, as I choked, but it felt so good, doing exactly what he said and feeling his power, smelling his sweat. I grabbed onto his ass for good measure, feeling how firm it was.
“Oh, yeah,” Niall said above me. “That’s it, y/n. Such a good girl, doing everything I tell you.”
“Fuck,” he yelled out and he pulled my head off his cock with one hand, jerking off with the other.
“Look at me,” he said and I looked up into his eyes.
He kept eye contact as he reached his finish. It came out in ropes, hitting different parts of my face. It was warm and heavy, and I happily swallowed what landed in my mouth. Niall was smiling down at me, his hand still in my hair. He took the hand that was jerking himself off, and collected some of his cum from my face on his finger.
“Open,” he said, and I stuck my tongue out. He put his cum-filled finger in and I sucked around it.
“Say thank you,” he commanded.
“Thank you, Niall,” I whispered meekly.
He picked up his clothes and walked away, his cum still on my face.

Just over a month. That’s how long it had been since Niall last used me up like he owned me, since Niall last spoke a word to me. 33 days, to be exact, but who’s counting?I had decided, after the second time sucking his cock and letting him ruin me, that I absolutely was not going back to him. He gave me the best orgasms I’ve ever had, and to be honest, I loved being dominated by him, loved worshiping him. But only in the moment. Afterward, I just felt like shit. Both times.I’m not sure what I expected after the first encounter. I knew his reputation beforehand. But I believed he must have a heart, that he would at least talk to me after fucking my brains out. So when he completely cut me out, I had to understand why, had to get an answer. What I got instead was another mouthful of his cock - not that I was complaining at the time.
So when he dropped me off that day without so much as a kiss goodbye, and instead a crude comment - ‘Try to think about something other than my cock’ - followed by a typical cocky smirk, i decided there was no way I was going back to him again. If he decided to ignore me like last time, then so be it. I would resist all temptations, no matter how unrelenting, and I would move on with my life.
So that’s how I’ve made it 33 days. A torturous, agonizing month, but at least I was building back my pride.I know for a fact that pretty much every girl Niall fucks ends up begging him for more. I’ve heard from plenty of girls who can’t seem to shake him from their mind. He gives them the best sex of their life, but then he leaves them in the middle of the ocean without a lifeline in site. It’s not like I felt superior to the other girls in any way; I mean I was just as hooked as they were; but I did take at least some pride in the fact that I was not feeding his ego.It was hard, mind you. But no way was he was going to come to me.So, as difficult as it was, I was successful in avoiding him. I sometimes got wet just seeing him in a tank top or flirting shamelessly with some girl; I masturbated to thoughts of him many times; I even stalked his social media in my weakest moments, but I never gave in. I refused to give in.

On A Saturday during spring semester, I was sitting in a comfy chair in one of the little study nooks that are dispersed throughout the college. I enjoy sitting here, as it’s usually pretty quiet and I can concentrate on studying. I had my headphones in and was focused on a video that I was taking notes from.I dropped my pen, as I’m prone to do, and it fell on the ground in the space between the two chairs and the window behind. I had a few girl friends who might joke around like this, but, as evidenced by the prominent manhood I was feeling against my butt, this was no girl.
"Damn, I almost forgot how nice this ass was. Loved watching it move while I fucked ya from behind those times."The culprit was now unmistakable.
"What the hell are you doing Niall?” I snapped, turning around to face him. I was quickly overwhelmed with his presence.
He was right in my face, and I could feel the heat of his body. He was in a tank top and his biceps were bulging, and his smirk was as bright as ever.It was clear that he instantly recognized his position of power. He was well aware that he could have me in the palm of his hand if he wanted.
“What’s the problem y/n? You weren’t so shy when you were moaning my name a couple weeks ago,” Niall said, his hand resting on my hip.
I was already struggling to speak. I was trying not to make eye contact, but that meant I had to look down, and what I saw when I looked down was Niall in some workout shorts with a very noticeable bulge in the stomach. I held back a whimper. Honestly, it was something of a heroic act for me to not give into him that second.
“A couple weeks?” I said, annoyed.
“We haven’t talked in over a month Niall.”
“Oh, is that right? I guess it kind of blends together for me. I don’t always remember which girl was when, although you do stand out, y/n,” he said with that smirk plastered on his face.
“And I see you’ve been thinking about me, since you know exactly how long it’s been.”
“Oh please, just because I have simple memory capabilities doesn’t me I actually care what happened between us. It meant nothing,” I said, not certain if I was convincing him or myself.
“Tell me, though,” Niall said, as he brought his body even closer to mine, now pressing against me.
“What do you remember?"He moved his free hand into my hair, and leaned down, kissing under my ear.
"Do you remember my dorm room, taking it on my bed, feeling me in you for the first time? Do you remember the back of my car, moaning my name and steaming up my windows?"
The hand that was on my hip has now snaked its way under the waistband of my panties, and he’s moving it very slowly toward my sex.
"Do you remember my cock, y/n? Do you remember it filling up your mouth? Do you remember it in your throat?” he asked, making sure to kiss my throat right at that moment.
“Do you remember gagging on it? Choking on it? Remember how big it is?"
I let out the smallest gasp and Niall smiled against my skin, as he continued kissing and dirty talking. His lower hand then finally reached my sex, and he felt the wetness instantly. I had no way to lie; the evidence was right there; he had me yet again.
"Oh, my, y/n, in the middle of the science building, and here you are all wet for me. Wow. You must’ve been thinking about this non-stop for … a month did you say? Musta been tough. Well let me make it a little easier for you tonight, huh?"
A finger entered me and then a second. He continued leaving light kisses on me, as his fingers moved expertly, in and out. His bulge was pressed up against my thigh. My limbs were loose at my side. I had no control; all I could do was take his assault of pleasure.
"Say thank you,” Niall goaded, continuing his actions but now staring into my eyes.
All I could muster was a few heavy breaths until finally I whimpered, “Thank you, Niall."
He pulled his hand out and stepped away in one motion. He said "You’re welcome” and then stuck his wet fingers in front of my mouth. I opened in a haze, and he chuckled as he pushed my own wetness into my mouth. I sucked them clean. Niall smiled big and said, “Should be easier now to get to your orgasm tonight,” then winked and turned around. And all I could do was stare at that perfect body - his muscular back, broad shoulders, perky butt - as he walked away.

It’s like he wants me to suffer.I tried to return to my previous strategy, avoiding him at all costs, erasing the idea of “us” from my head.
And then I remembered his cock, the weight of it, the way it filled my throat and my sex. I remembered the boastful look on his face every time I peered up at him while he used my mouth. I remembered the sweat that gathered on his built chest as he fucked into me.As the thoughts raced through my head, my hand made its way back into my panties, and I quickly found myself hitting my high, quietly moaning his name.
One setback would not be enough to deter me.I was mostly successful. Thankfully I didn’t see him around campus that day. Seeing a couple kissing in the hallway or a particularly fit boy in workout clothes triggered an unwelcomed thought, now and then, but I would quickly bury it in the back of my mind.
I figured it was one of my friends, asking about plans for tomorrow, so I unlocked the phone while keeping my eyes on the show.I brought the phone to my face, and I almost choked. It had opened to a text message. A text message from Niall. It wasn’t just words; there was a photo, too. What appeared in front of my eyes was a shirtless and pantsless Niall, sitting up in bed. His tan skin was glistening and was so smooth, except around his chest, where the hair was matted down.
The caption wrote: “Figured ya were thinkin about this, so thought I’d just give ya a real picture to replace the mental one  Haven’t fucked since yesterday, so it’s even more ready to go than usual.”I was appalled by his action, by his lack of manners and by the fact that he readily admitted he’s fucking a different girl almost every day. “Want me to make ya cum?” I nodded, breathing ragged.
“So good,” I whimpered.
“It’s so big, Niall.”He chuckled, looking into my eyes, still thrusting, “I know that y/n. You know how many girls have told me how big I am, how I’m the best they’ve ever had. Is it true, y/n? Am I the best?”
“You’re the best, Niall,” I blurted out.
“God, you’re incredible.”
“Yeah? Do you think about me when you’re alone at night?”
“Yes, Niall”“What do you think about?”
“Your cock, Niall.”He smiled a huge smile.
“Cum in your panties, y/n” he said, as his thrusts got even more forceful.
My orgasm came in, and as I hit my climax, there was no stopping my real thoughts from coming out in a flurry of moans and pants.
“No one can make me feel like you can. Your the best. I think about your cock all the time.” Niall was beaming at this point, staring down at me.
He was so masculine, his chest sweating and his biceps flexing as he held himself up above me. His gold chain was bouncing against his chest, as he thrusted hard and fast. The site was enough to just about kill me, and my final high hit like a ton of bricks. I screamed out his name. As I came down, Niall stood up and got out of his underwear. His cock jumping out, smacking against his abs and resting in place. He now only had had his chain and his shoes and socks on, and as I looked up, I could’ve sworn he was a fitness model. His broad shoulders lead down to a skinny waist. His muscles were so defined all over.
“Now ya have some work to do,” Niall said, as he respositioned himself over me on the bench press.
This time though, he moved up, so he was sitting on my chest, above my breast. His cock was is my face.He reached behind my head and grabbed my hair.
I opened wide, and he slowly pushed in.After a few inches, my mouth felt full, but he wasn’t even halfway in. He continued to slowly push in reaching my throat, and pushing down it.
“Oh, that feels good, y/n,” Niall said, tilting his head up and closing his eyes, as he continued pushing in.
I was gagging a bit, but he continued pushing in further.
“Don’t worry. Your throat will get used to it. They always do.”
I couldn’t even think about the arrogance of what he just said, because I was too entranced, too overcome by him. I belonged to him. After pushing all the way in, my nose now in his sweaty pubes, Niall finally pulled all the way out, leaving in just the tip. He looked down, smiling, and used his thumb to wipe the tears that were coming out of my eyes.
“Do ya like sucking on me cock, y/n?” he asked, started to jack himself off.
I nodded.
“Say it. Tell me how ya feel,” he commanded.
“I.. I love..,” I started, taking a badly needed breath, “I love how big it feels in my mouth … (deep breath) and how it stretches out my throat … (deep breath) and I love looking up and seeing you above me.”
He couldn’t even hit his whole cock with each thrust, hitting the back of my throat over and over.I gagged and choked, as drool started coming out.
Ya tried to resist me, but now ya can’t get enough of me. Ya love this cock.”
I was getting wet again just from his words. I was aware that I would feel like shit later, but I was willing to give anything for this pleasure. I just wanted to worship him; to give him everything he wanted. Niall suddenly pulled his cock out and put his hands behind his back.
“Choke on it,” he said.
It was warm and heavy, and I happily slowed what landed in my mouth. Niall was smiling down at me, his hand still in my hair. He took the hand that was jerking himself off, and collected some of his cum from my face on his finger.
“Open,” he said, and I stuck my tongue out. He put his cum-filled finger in and I sucked around it.
“Say thank you, y/n,” he commanded.
“Thank you, Niall,” I whispered meekly. He picked up his clothes and walked away.

Mod: Some of these suggestions could be considered harassment, spam emails and mass reporting in particular. The main thing we can do to stop recasters is stop buying recasts. I went ahead and bolded the lines I think deserve extra attention since this is a long one. I think anon sent this one in with good intentions/love, so please be productive/kind in the replies.
Probably Extreme But I Don't Care
I’m going to be completely pragmatic here.
Does anyone know like, specifically, where Luo’s factory is? Because if so, it would only take one person being willing to take one for the team to (Mod: redacted) it to the ground. They will probably face jail time, or worse, which is unfortunate, but at this stage of things I can’t think of any other way to put a nail in the coffin for recasts.
Legal battles have gotten nowhere even for big companies like V0lks. Educating people hasn’t worked because for the majority of collectors, they only care about their own bottom line of getting the thing they want, even at the cost of destroying people’s livelihoods, and there’s no way to fix someone who’s already that broken and devoid of empathy. You can’t make someone care about human lives when they just fundamentally don’t agree that artists deserve to be compensated for their skills and time. The majority of them are as much of a lost cause as the average Qanon believer, so I no longer see value in trying to educate people. It makes no difference. And when legal channels fail, and so do other polite means of solving a problem, what other choice is there but to riot? It is so, so clear that despite people’s energy and time, things have only gotten worse for creators, and better for bootleggers. So it’s time to stop being nice. I’m not saying go out and attack someone with counterfeit dolls- everyone makes mistakes and even I was once given a shitty knockoff by someone well-meaning who doesn’t know the hobby well and got swindled. But the people who continue to purchase counterfeit products, who actively promote them and share them on social media? They don’t deserve to have a community. They don’t deserve to be out and ‘proud’ about hurting people. File DMCA claims on their youtube pages (one at a time, if you file multiple at once it all counts as one strike.) Report their websites to their domain registrar for promoting sale of counterfeit goods to get them taken down. Join their discord and telegram and amino communities and report them, too. Don’t be abusive and send death threats, don’t interact with them at all. Go above the problem and directly to the people who’ve platformed them and report them for promotion of illegal or counterfeit products. Send their information to the original creators, if you are able to get it, so they might pursue legal action on their own terms, especially for smaller artist dolls. When being nice fails, when education fails, when the government turns a blind eye and the law doesn’t care enough to enforce intellectual property rights, then it’s time for direct action. And if you’re one of the people actively collecting fraudulent knock-offs, then I’m sorry, but you don’t deserve to have a comfortable time in the hobby. You’re the human equivalent of a tick with even less value to the environment, and it’s time someone broke out the DEET. If the factory is untouchable, then the only recourse is to make owning them so miserable for the people buying them that they either stop buying them, or stop posting online. Either one is fine. If they don’t have a community to talk about and share things with, if the flow of information is cut off, eventually the sales will flag. It’s unfortunate that unfucking the search results for BJDs will be a nightmare and so will taking down their hosting sites, but if enough people complain – especially those fluent in the language – eventually progress will be made on that front, and that will be the key to making these as hard to get as possible. I also recommend, for those who are familiar doing so, ordering large numbers of dolls with falsified information so that they get produced and go unsold, to hurt the company in the only place it matters. I also recommend finding their customer service information and signing them up to autodialers and spam email. Each individual can do something, and a collective effort will do even more. I don’t think we can ever fully get rid of counterfeits, but if people stop tolerating the abuse of creators and work to promote the proper information (maybe education still has a place in tandem with aggressive excommunication) it’s certainly possible to reduce the influence the counterfeiters have. Does this sound ~extreme~? Does this sound ~harassing~? Does this sound ~abusive~? Maybe so. But answer me this, what’s more hurtful? Someone telling you that they can’t be your friend because you bought a bunch of counterfeit goods? Or an artist not being able to buy food because you bought a bunch  of counterfeits of their creations? Feelings are important, but in this instance, your feelings don’t matter as much as the real damage you’re doing to other human people. They’re all “just dolls” until you stop for even one second to think about the fact that they’re made by actual human beings, and buying counterfeits 1) deprives them of the income they should get for the sale of their hand-crafted work, and 2) encourages human rights violations by exposing the employees at the bootlegger factory to all manner of nasty shit. You saw the photos, certainly, right? No one painting, sealing, or sanding had any kind of respiratory equipment. Maybe you don’t care about hurting people’s income, but do you care about fucking up someone’s lungs? Probably not. I’d love to be proven wrong, but counterfeit collectors entrenched in that fraudulent community have already proven how they feel. I don’t think anyone’s actually going to (Mod: redacted) down Luo’s factory, as nice as that would be. But I think this hobby has been too tolerant for too long of people who do real harm to creators, and I’m tired of seeing it. You’ll see what sparked this soon enough, probably… I lost a good friend and their shit getting recasted might’ve been the last goddamn straw. Go ahead and call me a fake baiting troll or whatever, I literally don’t care anymore. I’m just sick of this shit and I just want the people fucking up the lives of artists while claiming to Love and Support the hobby to face some fucking consequences for once instead of all the bad shit happening to the people who actually take the time to create.  Fuck.

no nuance november!
a/n: which is basically you have a bunch of opinions and dont explain any of em' and let your followers discuss them (much more suited for tiktok sjsnj). i'll be doing it since it compiles with many topics like fandom, racism, lgbtq+, politics and etc. i highly encourage people to do this simply because why not? feel free to send your own opinions n stuff, i wanna know what my followers think!!
disclaimer!! ⚠️ all of these are broad, not pin pointing certain people or situations. even though these are my opinions these were all in fun and have been collected over the years and will change as time goes on. nothing is sugar-coated so thread carefully. feel free to agree or disagree. :)
warning(s): mentions of racism, p*do micro aggression, fetishizing, toxicity, abuse, politics, labelling, mental health, cancelling, fandoms, ages.
Tumblr media
key:
iswis = i said what i said, no explanation to that one.
whe = will happily explain.
Tumblr media
stop sexualizing gay/m|m/yaoi relationships. it's not only demonizing to the males, it's also very fetishizing. (iswis)
most times /10 yall root for "feminine men" when you really mean white boys and fetishised asian men on social media. (whe)
bullying someone isnt educating. you either cant cope with the fact people have different opinions from you or you have a struggle with things either always never going your way or the opposite. (iswis)
straight people will never have a say in lgbtq+ issues. stop inserting yourself. (iswis)
white people will never have a say in poc issues. stop inserting yourself. (iswis)
poc will never have a say in black people issues. stop inserting yourself. (vice versa but im black and it happens more often to us lol) (iswis)
using the defense, "but black lives matter, right?" when one black person does something bad isnt facts, youre racist. (iswis)
fandom adults need to stop gatekeeping the target audience (demographics) to animes/shows. (iswis)
poc people can be racist. (whe)
even if a certain site was adult doesnt mean that every adult wants to see your porn. either keep it to yourself or tag properly. (iswis)
saying shit like, "im more xyz than you and im not even xyz" is not only disrespectful but disgusting. just because you believe in a popular opinion of a group does NOT suddenly make you a person in it, get over yourself. (iswis)
dont hate on people for the same things you have done at a young age. (ex: writing fanfic, seggs, etc) (iswis)
blaming a minor/someone mentally unstable for being abused is not only victim blaming, but it enables the notion that people who go those things that they wanted it. (iswis)
going off of that last point, if you do victim blame for situations and been in them yourself you either still havent coped with what you went through and still think it was your fault when it wasnt. (whe)
it's stupid people hate minors for being undeveloped when adults are the reason as to why people get traumas, abused and quite literally are destroying the world right now. (iswis)
gen z is white as fuck. (iswis)
early 2000s kids are equivalent to 90s kids who use to post, "only 90s kids under this" and post something that 2000-5 experienced. (iswis)
dear 2005+ kids, abusing harmful substances and having sex doesnt make you grown. stop it. (iswis)
adults, being able to post porn doesnt make you grown or mature, stop believing that it does. (iswis)
just because it's a coping mechanism doesnt mean it's healthy. (iswis)
avoiding conflict doesnt mean youre mature. if there is an active problem and you know ignoring it will only benefit you and not the actual problem at hand that is selfish. (iswis)
black women generate clout for everyone. when we're hated the person gets patted on the back, someone appreciates black girls they are praised, and people of many groups repeatedly steal from our culture. (iswis)
YES THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BEING BLACK AND AFRICAN AMERICAN. (whe)
if youre black you do not have to be democrat OR republican, there are many other parties. (whe)
i do not trust either parties, no minority should. (whe)
this 2020 election was not a win for poc people no matter who won. (iswis)
we do not decide whether or not what to do on columbus day. it is up to the natives themselves. (whe)
pointing out other countries (current) faults is not racist. although the issue can be misconstrued, if proper research is done it safe to say it's an educated observation or opinion. (whe)
privilege heavily varies; ex, americans are seen as privileged, while the people who live in it experience a disadvantage because of the societal standards. within the country itself. (whe)
americans, stop saying that america is the worst country and there are other countries who are suffering much worse than we are. yes sometimes it sucks but do not label it as the worst. (iswis + whe)
white people are privileged and will always be until we break the racist issues deep rooted in EVERY community. (iswis)
9/10 when marginalized groups like (women, lgbt) are mostly focused on white people and never address the poc counter parts. using the excuse "well idk much about that" is not good enough and just promotes pseudo-white supremecy. (iswis + whe)
do not use aave. (iswis)
aave is not gen z language, stop calling it that. (iswis)
gay men (white especially) use black women and get praised for the things we do that are called ghetto. (iswis)
yes it is offensive if you touch a black persons hair with or without permission. we are not your pets nor zoo animals. (iswis)
and yes it is offensive if you see a black women with beautiful hair and assume it's fake or ask, "is it yours?" "is it real?" (iswis)
using jailbait as an excuse to lewd minors is just as disgusting. (iswis)
beauty standards for women is rooted from pedophilia. (iswis)
using other pedophilic relationships as an excuse to ship yours is disturbing and you shouldnt be near children at any capacity. (iswis)
everything doesnt need a label. (iswis)
the fact that gangs have been criminalized while mafias havent is racist and feeds the stereotypes that poc are criminals. (iswis)
people are more forgiving to white predators than to poc (neither are good but people let white off the hook more often). (iswis)
if youre okay with your friends being racists, creeps, abusers you are just as bad. (iswis)
although you can like what you like, making dark content shouldnt be as glorified as much as it is. (iswis)
some kinks do deserve to be kink shamed. (iswis)
adults need to be more held accountable when held in situations with minors. (iswis + whe)
everyone perceives the world differently, many people will see the same things you see differently. (iswis)
calling people crazy for questioning the things around them doesnt make them crazy, youre just asleep. (iswis)
the human body can function without a soul. (iswis)
stop disrespecting christianity. you wouldnt do the same with hinduism, islam and etc. (iswis)
the bible was altered by white men and the true meanings have been misconstrued. (iswis + whe)
bullying someone who you THINK is problematic is not excuse to be hateful. youre just scum and feel the need to justify your actions. (iswis)
not everyone has to like you and dont need a reason. (iswis)
just because you dont like someone doesnt mean you have to make a show of it. be mature and move along. (iswis)
yes callouts/cancelling has its place but it's never done right. (iswis)
"cancel culture" wasnt a thing till white people joined in. (iswis)
dont cancel someone for stuff they did years ago. bringing it up is important but not allowing them to understand, reflect, and apologize is not only bullying it defeats the purpose of bringing awareness. (iswis)
big writers need to stop complaining when one fic or a few dont do good. not only does it rub in small writers faces, it shows that if you need people's validation to write you probably shouldnt be writing. some works will be popular and some will flop, get over it. (iswis)
stop witch hunting & crucifying people for shit you have done or your friends have done and going "uwu sorry" when you get caught. (iswis)
90% people believe content creators with bigger audiences. (iswis)
people spontaneously posting, "uwu take care of your mental health" doesnt mean that they actually care. (iswis)
people are always quick to judge people with real mental health such as depression, anxiety, adhd, and etc are always the one to turn and pretend to be exactly what they just mocked. (iswis)
dont have kids if youre not going to take care of them. (iswis)
stop baiting baby otakus (people freshly getting into anime) into watching cp like yarichin bitch club or boku no pico. they are minors, it's not funny, stop it. (iswis)
stop being protective & toxic over anime characters. if they were real they probably wouldnt even like you. (iswis)
just because someone is your friend doesnt mean that they arent toxic or abusive. (iswis)
start believing when people show their true traits. (iswis)
trauma happens in different forms, stop saying something didnt happen because it didnt go the way that has commonly happened or the way it occurred to you. (iswis)
stop saying minors should "know" while also being the loudest to say that our brains arent even developed till 25. (iswis)
the adult age should be raised to 20 years old. (iswis + whe)
tos should be raised to 16 years old. (iswis + whe)
minors take "18+" & "minors dni" out of your bio. (iswis)
yelling at minors for finding the content you freely put out without any care is your fault not theirs. (iswis)
there are plenty of adult sites that are more confined for adults but you guys ignore them because youd rather get popular on writing erotica on a popular social media platform. (iswis)
trying to cancel someone over one mistake and or blowing said things out of proportion is toxic and stupid. (iswis)
if you take someone saying they need to distance themselves for mental health reasons personally and make them feel bad for it youre an actual shitty person. (iswis)
if someone disrespects you, you have the right to say whatever you want in response. (iswis + whe)
stop hypersexualizing everything (adults especially). (iswis)
the excuses of, "they look grown" "i mentally think xyz" "theyre fake" is creepy and weird and yall should come up with a better excuse. (iswis)
yes i do believe minors should be writing for minors only, but i will not give a shit if an adult does if said characters are aged up in every work sfw or not. (iswis)
stop saying teens cant go through traumatic things and cant experience mental illnesses. it just shows that you werent cared for as a child and never get the therapy for it. (iswis)
gen z has a very colonized idea of activism. (iswis)
feminism was never for all women until the rest of us forced ourselves in. and even now it's still an issue whether or not people realize it or not. (iswis)
poc solidarity doesnt exist as much as we try to make it happen. (iswis)
colorism is an issue, and no you will not tell me otherwise. (iswis)
the hot cheeto girl is offensive and demeans black & hispanic culture. (iswis)
stop bashing minors for breathing, just say youre mad youre not young anymore and move on. (iswis)
black men are the white people of black people. (iswis)
there is no reason as to why you anyone would refer to black people as "blacks". nor should you (non-black people) be arguing whether or not to say nigga even with the hard r. (iswis)
if you (pertains to white people) think white privilege doesnt exist but go on to make fun of or ignore minority problems you are the living and breathing example of what we are talking about. (iswis)
loli/shotas are fucking disgusting and people who like it deserve to be tortured for eternity. (iswis)
seriously, stop using theyre "fake" as an excuse. (iswis)
if youre comfortable with being hateful to someone but still consider yourself a nice person because you do the hate minimum to be a decent human, youre either a narcissist or have a god complex. (iswis)
coons have no say in black issues. (iswis)
people need to stop blaming the "home wrecker" for ruining the relationship when it was the s/o's fault as well. there is no home to enter without an owner. (iswis)
stop saying any asian man yo see reminds you of a haikyuu character and or any anime character. it's racist. (iswis)
stop saying any asian person looks like a kpop idol, it's racist. (iswis)
stop downplaying and invalidating when black women go through traumatic things. not only does it promote that we have to be strong and save everyone else's problems, it says that we dont have emotions and cant be a victim which is disgusting. (iswis)
if you say shit like "minors curate your own experience" then go and turn around to say you REFUSE TO TAG YOUR SHIT YOU ARE LITERALLY MAKING THE PROCESS OF CENSORING HARD! (iswis)
white women are just as much of a problem as white men. only difference is sex keeping them apart. (iswis)
stop saying kpop is racist. expecting artists from a different political progression to understand that things can be offensive is bland. (iswis)
people accept boy groups fuck-ups more than they accept girl groups. and most times out of ten, the males are worse. (iswis)
if you engage in nsfw conversation with a minor, it is your fault they responded. (iswis)
anyone can be abused. (iswis)
stop coddling adults and bullying minors. (iswis)
most of you females have internalized misogyny and dont even know it. (iswis)
you can callout issues without having to drag a group of people. same with uplifting. (iswis)
if youre fine with being a sheep unfollow me. (iswis)
seven deadly sins is not a good anime. (iswis)
there is a difference between boku no hero academia fans based on if they call it "bnha" or "mha". (iswis)
ships literally are not serious stop harassing people over ships. (iswis)
do not harass creators of series because they do something with THEIR story. make your own. (iswis)
stop saying horikoshi sexualizes his women too much/mineta is the worst when you guys enjoy shows like one piece, hunter x hunter, naruto and etc. (iswis)
minors often or not are sheeps (heres your sign you dont have to agree with everything other people say). (iswis)
just because minors can be mature doesnt mean that they are adults. stop treating them as such. (iswis)
we should give more voice actors in the asmr (idk what to call it) community more recognition instead of just one. (iswis)
writers are the ones that send hate to other writers. anon hate is so corny and if you do it that goes to show that you are truly a toxic person wearing a fake mask of kindness when youre not on anonymous. (iswis)
stop being mean to smaller writers because they did not have as much luck as you. (iswis)
stop blaming your readers because one story flopped. (iswis)
ignoring someone's shitty actions encourages them to do it more. (iswis)
going to school and getting a job is much harder now than it was before. (iswis)
being an adult doesnt automatically make you mature. just because youre older doesnt mean youre better or you opinion is more valuable. it just shows that you werent heard when you were younger. (iswis)
there should be no reason as to why someone of the age of 18 should be having any romantic relationship with someone who is a minor. (iswis)
hawks is a shitty character. (iswis)
bakudeku isnt toxic. (iswis)
just because bakugo is in a ship, doesnt mean it's toxic. (iswis)
stop shipping male characters together simply because they have screen time together. it's creepy. (iswis)
almost all of 1-a students have ptsd and anything close to the after effects of being traumatized. (iswis)
no, editing characters to be poc is not racist. youre just mad they arent "white" when they never were. theyre asian and come in many colors as well. (iswis)
wanting to only be with a different race to get a mixed baby is fucking disgusting. (iswis)
stop ignoring pedo relationships between older women and younger boys and or with older women in general. (iswis)
males can be abused, stop telling them to suck it up or that they cant go through things. (iswis)
shaming young females about things they cant control is misogynistic and is damaging to their identity and shouldnt be excused. (iswis + whe)
not all females have to shave. (iswis)
what you dont like in someone is the projections you see of yourself on other people that you dont like about yourself. (whe)
popular bl stories extremely misrepresent gay relationships and frankly it's disgusting that theyre boosted as much as they are. (iswis)
jjba isnt ugly, you just watch animes to sexualize the characters. (iswis)
it's shitty that anime and kpop only became cool once white people stated to like it and made it mainstream. go gatekeep family guy or something. (iswis)
if you have been anime fan for a long time you were with bullied/teased for just generally liking it or you were a weirdo who recreated shit from it. (iswis)
weaboo and weeb were bad terms till we made them positive?? literally otaku is the word for it but we use weeb instead lol. (whe)
normalize and promote educating someone without going straight to bullying them. (whe)
haikyuu isnt really a good manga/anime nor is the art style the best but the characters make up for it. (iswis)
stop misusing terms and stop nitpicking definitions to manipulate your narrative. (iswis)
toxic positivity is manipulative and if you have to make it back handed you are not as nice as you like to make it seem. (iswis)
studying a major doesnt mean youre actually good in the subject. (iswis)
normalize people realizing their past mistakes and growing from it. (iswis)
do not self diagnos unless you actually feel like you may have that issue and would like to seek help. mental health is not a personality trait. (iswis)
stop projecting onto people. (iswis)
stop misusing terms and stop nitpicking definitions to fit your narrative. (iswis)
stealing any type of work should not be tolerated. (iswis)
constantly trying to trigger someone to go back to their old ways (being toxic, abusive, addiction, suicidal etc) after changing is toxic and manipulative. (iswis)
if you make jokes about hurting kids and or feel the need speak badly about them i do not want to speak to you. (iswis)
the human brain wasnt developed to understand complex ideas such as death or the universe. (iswis)
we will never truly know what is beyond our skies. (iswis)
thats all, thanks for sifting!

Hopefully this will be my last-ever post complaining about what someone said on social media, because current events are simmering down and once they’ve reached a moderate enough hum I’m going to redouble my previous efforts to stay away from it. But the particular interaction I’m going to describe seems to have furthered my progress slightly in understanding why so many people shout their views in the way that they do and how I should learn to better accept it.
One of my “closest” Facebook friends for over a decade, whose life’s passion nowadays revolves around anti-racist work (mainly in childhood education; she is white) posted a few hours after Biden’s victory was officially called last Saturday to preach that white Biden-voters shouldn’t claim any of the credit for his victory because it was BIPOC and particularly black women who carried this election (her justification for why they “carried us” was that as a demographic group most of them voted for Biden while as a demographic group a majority of white people voted for Trump), and that nothing will be better now except for who is in the White House because “whiteness and white supremacy have not disappeared” and that “your” responsibility is not diminished and “you” are not absolved as a good white person. She ended with an exhortation to bow down and “bend your knees” to BIPOC for “saving our asses”.
(Just realized looking back at her post to write this one that the phrasing was not “bend the knee” as I repeatedly misread at the time, assuming that it was a direct reference to Game of Thrones of which I know she’s a fan, and having recently listened to this insightful 8-minute Sam Harris podcast episode which used the phrase. This is slightly unfortunate since it was the obnoxiousness of that particular phrasing which tipped me over to acting against my better judgment in not just ignoring this like I have with so many dozens of other statements. I still find it obnoxious, though, and sanctimonious, and terrible messaging, and using poor arguments about causation, and reflecting an insistence on viewing as much as possible in terms of race at all times, and the epitome of identity politics.)
So yeah, after waiting a couple of days, I broke my usual silence and wrote a very polite but argumentative response that turned out to be enough paragraphs to make me feel a little embarrassed that I would take that much of my time on it. I knew there was virtually no chance of convincing her of anything substantial, but I figured just maybe some insight into how foreign and alienating this “you are responsible for what everyone of your color does and are never good enough and have to kneel in deference to those of a color which is” messaging is bound to be to anyone who’s less in an academic bubble than we are (which is, like, most people). I made the point that individual BIPOC didn’t contribute any more than individual white people did to Biden’s victory and that if we’re going to judge blocs of voters according to race we should be blaming Cuban-Americans for Biden’s loss in Florida, and that in fact Trump gained votes from among BIPOC and lost white male votes since four years ago. I wrote that implying that the only salient feature of us individuals is race is exactly what people complain about when they use the term “identity politics” and that the results of this election suggest that maybe we’re doing something wrong with our messaging.
It wasn’t a disaster. I got a very cordial response which completely avoided ad hominem and at least engaged the points I had made while clarifying her views. I didn’t find the supposed rebuttals of my points at all convincing, of course. For instance, my complaint about treating individual voters as merely people of a certain color was met with “It’s important in anti-racist scholarship to be able to analyze demographic trends in terms of race” (I would... never disagree with this?) and that focusing on individuals allows people to only look at their own actions and those of their friends and feel too good about themselves. She also expressed skepticism about my statistics about where Trump gained/lost support, which I was able to back up with a quick Google search which pulled up a Vox article among others (I thought it was only the insufficiently committed white liberals like me who sucked at Googling?). But her own views, while still resting on axioms I fundamentally differ on, just sounded a lot more reasonable when restated? E.g. “Moments like this shouldn’t be centered on whiteness” and “the ‘good white liberals’ should be aware that they aren’t as a big of a demographic in our race as they should be” (I don’t know any white liberal who would disagree or who doesn’t realize that white people vote majority Republican or is okay with that?) and that the bowing and bending the knee was not “a literal statement” but simply meant to convey that we should greatly respect how BIPOC voters contribute. She ended with providing a long list of anti-racist activists (the only one of whom I’m familiar with is Ally Henny, who I mainly remember for statements about how I’m encased in so many layers of racism that I would never be able to peel them off if I spent my whole lifetime doing nothing but trying) as a “starting point” of study.
I replied thanking her for pointing me to sources and agreeing with her implication that I should read more with a mind towards understanding what they’re saying before spouting off any more opinions. (Guess I have to make good on that promise now.) I made clear that I see a difference between her restatements and the way she worded things in her original post and suggested that some of this might even be on me for interpreting these kinds of posts more as logical arguments when they should be understood in a slightly more poetic manner. I gently gestured towards my suspicion that the current scholarship in this area might reflect a university culture (which I am very much a part of) more than the concrete priorities and concerns of the majority of people of color, although I’m in no position to positively claim anything about this. I got no response.
Anyway, in writing my last response, a little more clicked into place for me about a different lens through which I should process all the behavior that drives me nuts in a written context online (I mainly mean social media but am being even broader than that). This is going to sound condescending but ironically it might help me to have a less condescending attitude?
The fact is -- and I just have to accept this -- that making efforts to be nuanced and to “meet people who disagree where they are at” and to aim for the truth but no farther than the truth are simply not highly-valued principles for most people (social media -users and otherwise). They may kinda-sorta agree in the abstract with these principles, but in practice they hold a much lower status than the principles of conveying anger and strong words as a sign of commitment towards Fighting Evil. Some people I know do have an “argumentation value system” closer to mine, and I know who those people are -- it really shows in what they write online. But those people are a fairly small minority.
And this alien “argumentation value system” isn’t something that really shows in casual real-life interactions very plainly at all (which of course is what almost all human interactions were up until 10-15 years ago), while in contrast social media is an environment that augments its effect.
The sooner I accept this, the more moderation I’ll be able to manage in my negative reactions. I can remind myself that there’s less fundamental disagreement on most actual issues between me and the people I know: we instead disagree on a sort of meta-level issue of how one’s views should be presented. And that issue, taken by itself, seems somehow like something more minor. I wrote a few months ago about how knowing what so many people in my life write publicly oftentimes interferes with my capacity to view them as potential intimate friends/partners. Maybe I can be a little more accepting when I recognize that the things they write which turn me off perhaps don’t come from a place of such irrationality as I thought, that the differences in our ways of thinking might not be quite so fundamental (although this differing system of values for argumentation still strikes me as something that could badly affect a marriage, say). And in the practical short term, I can ignore things that bother me more easily in the future -- instead of feeling like I’m on a tilted playing field where everyone else gets to vent without inhibition while I have to carefully monitor and qualify everything I say, I can try to just round a lot of this off in terms of different preferred writing styles and somehow that bothers me less?
A similar underlying principle holds for the things that annoy me on dating profiles, what with the collective obsession with dogs and boasts of being “fluent in sarcasm” and so on. This probably doesn’t reflect much about the way the creators of these profiles actually are as humans in real life. Not that many single women really view their dogs as the most interesting thing that ever was or will be about their lives. They just choose to have a certain style of exposition about themselves because of peculiarities of the environment of online dating sites/apps, where showing enthusiasm and individuality in some way seems to pay and the topic of dogs would seem like a pretty safe place to direct this performed enthusiasm. Doesn’t mean that it doesn’t demonstrate some aspect of incompatibility with me or that I’m not going to be more instantly attracted to those with profiles that have more refreshing things to say than stuff about how amazing dogs are or of those who *gasp* actually prefer cats or *deeper gasp* prefer not to have pets at all. But it means that I can read the dogs-and-sarcasm-enthusiast profiles a little more charitably maybe?
This slightly altered mindset is a far from perfect solution, but I think it helps. A lasting three-quarters-of-the-way disconnect from social media entirely still needs to be a goal at this point.

The World, My Childhood And My Hero Academia: Vigilantes
Hello friends!
Its Dr. Shojo coming at you with a post that will be divided into three parts!
Part One: The world as we know it!
The world has changed a lot since we last connected. For starters, TOILET BOUND HANAKO KUN HAS NOT ONLY A PHYSICAL RELEASE BUT A GORGEOUS ANIME! And not only that, but MY NEXT LIFE AS A VILLAINESS: ALL ROUTES LEAD TO DOOM! IS GETTING AN ANIME AS WELL! The last time I wrote about Katerina there wasn’t even an official English translation of that long-ass light-novel-title. And now?
A WHOLE ANIME. A BISEXUAL HAREM AWAITS! I am JAZZED!
Do you think it’s my fault? No matter, I’ll take all the credit. All the manga I talk about are getting anime adaptations. I’LL DO MY DUTY AND TALK ABOUT SOME MORE!
But first. Let us address the Covid-19 shaped elephant in the room
I deeply regret that it took a whole-ass pandemic to get me back to writing. In my defense, I bought an iPad and started drawing like 900 kokichi oumas. I was really busy with that. And then I started reading fanfiction. Then that got me thinking about how fanfiction such an interesting look into how people interpret fandom, use it for wish fulfillment and escapism, and good god is everyone OK cause that bulimia fan fic was super detailed....and I am officially on a tangent. Off track. Ahem.
We are all staying inside a whole lot more which means y’all probably need some reading material and Dr. Shojo has your back! Go read “Horimiya”! It’s amazing! Ahhhh, my work here is done! I'm serious, if you’re here for a Shojo rec, that’s it! There's also like 8 million more Otome Isekais to check out now. It’s like they’re multiplying like rabbits..............
As a Doctor, I must advise you to stay inside and read some manga and practice social distancing. Embrace your inner hikikomori.
Allright? All good? Okay now one final disclaimer:
This post is going to be talking about something a little different than usual and I want to start by giving you some context about who Dr. Shojo is in real life.
Part Two: Dr. Shojo Exposed
You see, when I was little I was obsessed with Japanese media. This doesn't surprise you at all I can tell. Probably because I walk around calling myself Dr. Shojo and shout about manga that you should read.
Anyways, the reason why I was obsessed wasn’t because of the big eyes or the spikey hair or the interesting new culture. It was because it tended to have more character development and overarching plotlines than the media I was used to in Canada. Dexter’s Lab, Magic School Bus, pretty much everything I saw on TV was episodic in nature, so imagine how much my mind was blown when I saw Naruto and Card Captor Sakura, heck, even Pokémon had the Indigo Plateau! Here were kids that were learning more and more each day and got to see enemies become friends and vice versa. They lived and grew older just like me. Except they were cooler than me. And had more interesting lives than me. I gotta tell you, I was so sad when I was 12 and Kero didn’t tell me I had latent magical powers. But there was magic in my life and it was the magic of a complex narrative story. And not only that, it had a sense of movement and had cool costumes. I was hooked immediately.
Also, fun fact, at that age I happened to be a complete and utter tomboy! I loved pretending to fight my friends in the playground and was really worried that puberty would ruin my life because being a girl sounded so CUMBERSOME.
Which leads me up to my confession. Before I became Dr. Shojo, I was in fact......Dr. Shonen.
Bleach? Naruto? One Piece? I've read every single chapter there is.
Hundreds of hours of watching fight sequences. Another fun fact, I only got into shojo because my aunt bought me volume 7 and 8 of Fruits Basket thinking “all mangas like the same right? Kids love comics?” It’s a tribute to how episodic western media was back then that she thought buying volume SEVEN and EIGHT was a REASONABLE PLACE TO START READING.
Now you might also say, Hey! Dr Shojo! Cardcaptors was a shojo! And you are right! but back then the anime was marketed to boys over here in the west and they actualy like, edited out episodes that they thought wouldn't interest boys?! Second fun fact, Once when I was in Grade 3 I was told I was not allowed to join a club under the stairs cause I was a girl and it was BOYS ONLY. The point of the club? To talk about how great Cardcaptors was! I Kid you not!
So anyways, your pall Dr. Shojo loves Shonen manga to this day!
The only reason I made this Dr. Shojo blog specifically about shojo is because, being a tomboy with no female friends, reading shojo manga was the first time I really thought about what it meant to be a girl and fall in love. And y i k e s. Shojo manga, like most media, fails miserably most of the time in displaying real world relationships. Or at least, it  doesn't prepare you for how disappointing everything can be. When I had my first kiss, I was thinking about how it didn’t feel at all like how I felt reading Zen and Shirayukis kiss in Akagame No Shirayuki Hime. Those were formative years, and shojo was one of the only places I saw romance being talked about for younger audiences. I liked reading romances where no one had any sexual experiences and were figuring out what love meant to them. But let’s shelve this topic for now.
The point is that gender roles are dumb and if you have an open mind there's a world of stories out there for you. Take this time inside to read something you wouldn’t normally. Critically think about the ways that the worlds you see in stories and how you experience the world differ. What are the messages a story is trying to tell you? And why do you like the stories you do? Reflect on how the stories you tell yourself color your view of the world. Even mindless entertainment leaves an impression on us. Anyways.
Whilst you're doing that, I'm going to absolutely lose my hecking mind over the Shonen Jump series MY HERO ACADEMIA: Vigilantes!
WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!
Part Three: I downloaded the one month free trial of the Shonen Jump app and made you read all that, so I can tell you that today Dr. Shojo is going to rant about a spin-off of a shonen manga
THAT’S RIGHT, OF COURSE I READ HERO ACA AND YES I DID PICK UP THE SPIN OFF SERIES. SHONEN JUMP LETS YOU READ ALL THE NEW CHAPTERS FOR FREE ON THEIR APP. KIDS, IF YOU LIKE SHONEN AND YOU’RE PIRATING ON A SCANLATION SITE STILL GET OUT BECAUSE YOU DON’T NEED TO SEE THOSE WEIRD PLASTIC SURGERY AND DENTISTRY ADDS ANY MORE.
SHONEN IS HERE AND ITS LEGAL AND ITS FREE FOR YOU. GET OFF MANGA FOX OR MANGA ROCK OR WHATEVER THE KIDS ARE USING THESE DAYS.
OK, so by this point in the article you have learned two very important things about me: 1) I love Shonen manga and 2) I read a lot of fanfiction.
Specifically, I read an absolutely biblical amount of My Hero Academia fan fiction and let me tell you, A solid chunk of it is vigilante/ Deadpool / criminal with a heart of gold themed.
So when I saw Hero Aca had a spin off, and it was about vigilantes, I was NOT SURPRISED IN THE SLIGHTEST. Ao3 sure is powerful.
Now, if you will permit me a tangent in a post full of tangents—HOLY CRAP, THERE ARE TOO MANY VIGILANTE AUS. I CAN'T KEEP TRACK OF EM. IT’S THE ISEKAI PROBLEM ALL OVER AGAIN. I GET AN EMAIL A FIC HAS UPDATED AND I’M LIKE IS THIS THE FIC WHERE DEKU HAS AN ABUSIVE MOM OR THE ONE WHERE HE HAS SPLIT PERSONALITY DISORDER OR THE ONE WHERE HE’S VIGILANTES WITH HITOSHI. OH WAIT, nvm, it’s the one where deku has a healing quirk.
OH WAIT WHICH OF THE 6 DEKU WITH HEALING QUIRK VIGILATE AU FICS IS THIS ONE?! ARGH WHY DIDN’T I WRITE A DESCRIPTION IN THE BOOKMARK FOR THIS!
My gripes aside, there's a reason why there's such an abundance of vigilante story telling—
Deadpool made like an absolute buttload of money and people love sass and memes.
People have a desire for a story in which they see themselves. Or, how they think of themselves. They like a story about someone who maybe came from nothing. Someone who has less money, maybe someone who is unlucky and had some bad breaks. Someone who never learned they had magic, never got their Hogwarts letter, never saw Kero, someone who never got that God-level quirk from All Might. And if your on Ao3 They want someone who also has seen a lot of memes and kind of wants taco bell and is also questioning their sexuality a bit?
Enter our new hero VIGILANTE DEKU.
But the cannon can't do this, cause hey, Deku is the chosen one. Albeit, chosen by All Might, He’s got his own thing to do. But how can we still cash in on a vigilante story?
And thus enter our New-New hero KOICHI HAIMAWARI—code name Nice Guy and then later The Crawler. True to his relatable roots. He’s just a dude in an hoodie who can go about as fast as a bike.
Tumblr media
First off, I love Koichi. He wants to be a hero and fight crime, but most of the time he has to run away because at the end of the day he's just a dude.
He’s cute but not wildly good-looking, A bit of a nerd but not like an extreme okaku. He’s got a part time job and hates violence.
And this is where Koichi really shines—in every day stuff. He helps out wherever he can. Often, that just means listening to people complain and maybe helping his friends out with whatever they’re going through. He’s the kind of guy who smiles, not because he's especially brave, but because he just takes things one at a time and doesn't sweat the past. I think it’s really telling that he missed getting into hero high-school because he skipped the entrance exam to help someone. He’s the kind of person who lets us experience the superpower of human decency and empathy. And you know what? That’s something the world need desperately.
This theme of human decency is really the driving force of Vigilantes—it’s a manga about how the laws are there for a reason but sometimes they unfairly impact the poor and vulnerable. It's about how a lot of criminals are just people who fell into bad social circles or on bad times. People have the capacity for cruelty and violence but that’s never all they are.
Now, speaking of crime, the entirety of Hero Aca falls into some murky water when it comes to its evil doers. Much of the fandom has a huuuuuge problem with how much the franchise is willing to sweep under the rug in the name of redeeming their baddies. RE: people getting mad about forgiving Endeavor’s child abuse, or Bakugo’s suicide baiting. Or Mineta’s blatant sexual harassment.
But this theme is in Vigilantes even more than it ever was in the main series. To start off with, there’s this guy who tries to rape Pop Step early on, and the later he later winds up befriending everybody. It becomes a running gag that each new villain winds up befriending the other villain guys and then they all open a cat café together.
Using jobs as a way to lift people out of lives of crime is great and all but in the story there is no nuance or consequences for past wrong and well.....it feels very weird.  It's like Vigilantes plays at having an opinion about moral ambiguity and the complexity of human existence and then just.......lets everyone get along because who has time to get into all that. Make of that what you will but it sits weird for me personally.
Anyway, let's move on and talk about POP STEP our main girl!
Tumblr media
I love pop stars and I love vigilantes and a guerrilla performer is defiantly a character I could get behind. And I think they do a good job with Pop. She is actually kind of shy, but has this secret edgy persona she puts on when she performs. She is every girl on tumbler in the early 2000s. I also looooove that they make her not that great a singer. SHE’S GOT PASSION AND CHARISMA and maybe not born talent but like why should that stop you! Talent can be earned through practice and this is a great lesson to show people.
Unfortunately, Pop is also a great example of everything wrong with romance in Shonen.
It’s established early on that Pop loves Koichi because she is the girl he rescued all those years ago and yada yada yikes we’ve heard this one before. Many times before.
Sure, it's fine that they’ve met before, but gosh am I sick of damsels in distress. It's like she can't love him just because she respects what a great guy he is in her life and in the community at large, no no, she just needs to be rescued on top of that. And LOLOLOL isn't it funny he never noticed she was a girl because she was a child with short hair?! Once he realizes she has boobs now they will for sure fall in love! That’s how love works!
She's just with him all the time—nothing romantic ever happens she just gets a little tsundere.
I am never ever going to believe Koichi likes Pop because he spends like sooooo much time with her and they never have like, a moment. The first time he considers her is when Makoto is like, ‘hey I would love to get together with you, but have you thought about if you are crushing on Pop’. (Also this entire plot point is suspect—she's arbitrarily falling for Koichi cause he.......is the protagonist?)
Say what you will about shojo, they give you the emotional conversations, the moments where you think.....ahhh I can see why she is falling for him. They give you context! Shonen likes to just say HERE’S A GIRL YOUR AGE. YOU CAN DATE LATER WHEN THE ADVENTURE IS DONE.
Just when they might get together, Pop suddenly turns evilllllll. The evilllll beeeees made her eeeevilllll (and more sexy).
*Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh*
Because why on earth would they get together if Koichi didn’t get to rescue Pop one more time?
I’m tired. These troupes are tired. I’m sure you are too. HOWEVER! If your still with me, Let’s move into why I'm really writing this post. Let’s get to the part that got me screaming to my friends, who by the way, don’t even care bout Hero Aca….but listened anyways. May you all find nakama like these my friends.
Anyways,
HOLY FUCK ERASERHEAD’S ENTIRE BACK STORY IS IN THIS AROUND CHAPTER 60 AND IT IS WONDERFUL AND ABSOLUTLY HEARTBREAKING AND IS ONE OF THE BEST CHARACTER BACKSTORIES I HAVE EVER SEEN AND IS THE REASON WHY THIS SERIES IS A MUST-READ FOR MAIN SERIES FANS.
AND BY ALMIGHT.
WHY. IS. IT HERE.
I present to you my late night text messages to my friends
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ALSO, AIZAWAS TEACHER IS PRINCE?!?!?!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AHEM, so as you can see, I kinda lost my shit.
And now, I would like to formally defend my claim that DESPITE HOW AMAZING IT WAS, ERASERHEAD’S BACKSTORY HAD NO BUISSNESS BEING IN THE VIGILANTES SPIN-OFF MANGA.
Eraserhead, aka Aizawa Shouta, is a side character who is working with the police on some crime stuff. He is not a main cast member in this spin off. He’s a guest character that fans of the main series will be like OH COOL. GRUMPY CAT MAN LIKES CATS ON HIS OFF HOURS TOO. LOVE THAT FOR HIM.
So, my imagine my absolute surprise when Aizawa runs into Koichi and the following happens:
It starts to rain, so, like in any good manga, this means some great FORCED BONDING TIME
Except no. It doesn't because rather than start talking, Aizawa JUST STARTS REMEMBERING—ABSOLUTLY SILENTLY TO HIS OWN PRIVETE SELF—HIS ENTIRE TRAGIC BACKSTORY.
AND THIS GOES ON FOR CHAPTERS.
THIS GOES ON LONGER THEN ARC ONE IT FEELS LIKE.
I LOVE IT, BUT KOICHI IS ABOUT TO JOIN ATSUSHI NAKAJIMA IN THE DUBIOUS CATEGORY OF “PROTAGONISTS THE SERIES FORGOT ABOUT IN LIEU OF COOLER SIDE CHARACTERS”.
AND LO IT HAS NO BEARING ON THE REST OF THE PLOT, CHARACTERS, OR STORY
What the ever-loving-just WHY?
WHY?
WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?
SURE, IT’S A COOL TIE-IN.
YES, OF COURSE I LOVED IT. I SHIP ERASER MIC, I DREW THIS FOR HECK’S SAKE:
Tumblr media
AND YET I AM ANGRY.
I AM ANGRY BECAUSE MY FRIDAY WAS RUINED BECAUSE VIGILATES SUCKER PUNCHED ME WITH AN AMAZING STORY THAT REALLY WASN’T PLOT RELEVANT AND PROBABLY SHOULDN’T HAVE BEEN THERE.
IS THIS WHY THEY TOOK LIKE NEXT-TO-NO CARE WITH POPS ARC?!?
I mean its ongoing, so it’s too early to say but—
In conclusion—
Excuse me one more,
AIZAWA WAS TAUGHT BY PRINCE!?!??!?!?!?!? PURPLE RAIN PRINCE!?!??!?!?!? WHAT!??!?!?!
It’s so ABSURD that I HAD TO WRITE SOMETHING ABOUT IT. I HAD TO WRITE PARAGRAPHS TO JUSTIFY YELLING ABOUT THIS ONE THING. WHAT THE ABSOLUTE—
Ahem,
Anyways, I hope you liked this weird rant/personal-story/random-diatribe in three parts.
If you’re reading this, thank you, stay safe, and I’ll be back with more shojo manga next time.
Ciao!
Dr. Shojo
(aka Dr. Shonen)
