Former #Guantanamo Detainee Dies Ibrahim Idris, a Sudanese man who was taken to Guantánamo Bay on the day it opened, died on Wednesday in #Sudan. He was 60. He was never charged with a crime and was released and repatriated in December 2013. Ibrahim's health deteriorated both mentally and physically in Sudan. He never married, never found work and was cared for by his mother until her recent death. Ibrahim lost his mind due to severe torture in Guantanamo. The US gave the Afghan government billions of dollars to invest in its people and infrastructure, 'democracy' and to gain loyalty.

They didn't do that. Instead many invested in corruption and built their own business empires and family wealth.

The US and its Afghan 'democracy' failed, just as the Soviets failed at imposing communism on #Afghanistan.

The spokesperson said that it brought the total injured during October to 8,262 Palestinians. For most parts of the occupied Palestinian territory, October was also the deadliest month since the Second Intifada, with at least 69 Palestinians killed by Israeli forces. While 26 were shot dead during clashes, another 40 Palestinians were shot dead after Israel alleges they attempted or carried out attacks on Israelis. War Crimes Report: Australian Special Forces Involved in Murder of 39 Afghan Civilians Australian special forces were involved in the murder of 39 Afghan civilians between 2005 and 2016, according to the Brereton report. A group within the elite Special Air Services killed and brutalised Afghan civilians, in some cases slitting throats, gloating about their actions, keeping kill counts, and photographing bodies with planted phones and weapons to justify their actions. The report found: 39 Afghans were unlawfully killed in 23 incidents and were deliberately covered up. None of the killings took place in the heat of battle. All the victims were either non-combatants or were no longer combatants. 25 perpetrators have been identified, some are still serving in the Australian army. Israel originally asked for a 30 percent discount, like it had received in previous deals on German submarines. The German reduction in cost, tantamount to a grant of hundreds of millions of euros, was part of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s policy to bolster Israel’s security. However, in the beginning of May, about two weeks after peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians stalled, German’s national security adviser Christoph Heusgen told his Israeli counterpart Yossi Cohen that Israel would not receive the discount and would have to pay their full price. Heusgen said that following the breakdown in the peace talks, combined with the harsh criticism in Germany of Israel’s construction in the settlements, the Bundestag would not approve a grant of hundreds of millions of euros to subsidize the boats. The German decision deepened the crisis that has been developing between the two states over the past five years, due to the tense relations between Merkel and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. However, Berlin eventually agreed to slash €300 million (about $382 million) off the cost. At the head of the National Command Center was B.G Montague Winfield but on 9/10 he instructed Capt. Charles Leidig to take his place on 9/11, whose first day it also was. Commander of Northeast Defense NEADS/NORAD Colonel Marr Called his superior Maj. Gen. Arnold to get authority to send jets to scramble the hijacking. Arnold was in a high level meeting where he could not be reached by phone. Gen. Ralph Eberhart was top command at NORAD AND DID NOT SUSPEND THE WAR GAMES despite knowing the attacks were real- to send all fighters to assist. Eberhart left for a 30 min drive to another Colorado base leaving high command without authority to act. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld was no where to be found. Instead of taking command Rumsfeld was found walking injured out of the Pentagon, while his country was under attack. He was missing for 30 minutes. "In the 40 years that I have known the State of Israel and sometimes had a home there, I have seen it completely change. It is time that rag was torn away from them. Entire families have been obliterated and in one case, 20 members of the same family were slaughtered.
