What's funny about this being a "problem", is that it is being told to people that aren't X, whatever X happens to be.

But let's say X is "racist".

Someone is being warned that someone following them is racist.

This means that the person doing the warning does not believe that the warnee IS racist, otherwise there would be no reason to warn them.

So what exactly is the issue with a racist following a non-racist and seeing their non-racist takes?

really the ultimate counter to that execrable "you are followed by people who follow vaguely right-wing people and thus we must yell at you about being a fascist," not that it needed another one, is this:

It's temping to warn them about Brian, or tell them not to start Apple (I really think a lot of later heartache could have been avoided if they'd simply not become business partners in that way), but what I really want to do is tell them not to let people turn them against each other. Communicate, directly. The problem is, in addition to the warning they'd need the interpersonal skills to accomplish that. It's easy to say "talk to each other" because they'd all go "that's dumb, we already do AND we're telepathic" which you know, is the whole problem in a nutshell. It's like telling Peter he's going to deny Jesus; the warning doesn't work because the warnee can't even fathom a situation in which he'd do the thing. And he'll end up doing it anyway because it'll take him by surprise no matter how much foreknowledge he has.

So uh, that's the answer I want to give but it seems wasted. So you know. Don't start a business together. Focus on the music, and each other. I guess that's my fallback.

i know it doesn’t feel okay but it’s gonna be okay. definitely don’t kill yourself, i tried that and it would have really, really sucked if it had worked

the thing is that your fantasies can’t make you evil. they just can’t. if you look at redkink stuff that’s not bad. nobody’s getting hurt, nobody’s suffering, and honestly for me it helped me deal with it during spring without doing something completely stupid

i’m the same way as you are. and for people like us at least NAT doesn’t help. now that you’re 4 you’ve definitely got the right to stop going and start doing something that isn’t going to rip you apart every time you go.

i know it’s scary. it’s stuff that everybody says is awful to think about. but it doesn’t make you a bad person, i promise. there are other people who’ve got the same feelings as you who aren’t bad people. you’re not a bad person.

take a look at the newbie section on kindscarlet. there are a bunch of 4-year-olds there freaking out just like you right now because spring just started. take a look at what people have to say to them if you want but, just...you’re not alone. and you’re not garbage, and you’re clean and you’re fine.
