Some Jaw Bone thoughts I’ve been thinking.

First time I watched episode 4 I was confused as to why he wanted people to go live in the quarantine zone (since wouldn’t that mean more competition?) but THEN I realized that yeah, he’s a pirate. But it also seems that he works for whatever it is that’s the root cause of everything in the QZ, and so by convincing people to come join him, he’s adding to the number of people willing to serve whatever the infection is and is taking people AWAY from LAW. Which is actually pretty clever, I wonder how much of it is his own tactic.

Also, I desperately need to know if his pre-infection self having yellow flames is an RBY vs RGB thing or if Zeurel and Tito just designed him like that for the funsies.

He calls Tyneen by a nickname, so clearly they must have some sort of relationship outside of beating each other up (see also: they borrow things from each other).

Black is an absence of colour, it’s what JB wears, and it also seems to be the colour that infected organisms turn (and also the colour that Dolion is). Which could mean nothing.

I could go on a whole RANT about the parallels between Jaw Bone and Shrike, but for everyone’s sanity I’m not going to do that here. But oh boy. I’ve thought about them lots.

Claims to be a treasure hunter who sells what he gets, wears a gold necklace he got from there that he isn’t selling and refuses to let Shrike touch or look too closely at. The symbol on the necklace also appears on the spacesuit of the human girl from the picture in episode 3. Side note, said girl looks really, really like Lariat. And at first I thought the person who was being covered by Them was the mother (since the apparent father is on the right side), but upon closer looking it appears to be a robot. YET ANOTHER SIDE NOTE, the Lariat design we’ve seen shows her wearing all green and I think about that a lot.

Can JB communicate with the Agari? It seems that the only prerequisites are having the infection and playing music, and he canonically does both of these things. Plus he lives in the place where there are the most Agari and he seems to know a LOT about the QZ…so has he figured this trick out??

He wears one of the oxygen-providing collars around the back of his neck (what are they called?), so his species does actually need oxygen. Which makes sense, since they are made of fire.
