Been obsessed with the Wa's lately. Wanted to draw this unused little gremlin (she didn't make it to Mario Tennis on account of being in jail for the attempted assassination of Mayor Pauline).

The roadants are the native creatures of the New Donk City sewers and are her subjects.

I think wapeach is rosalina if she had been adopted by wario and waluigi

Since Wapeach's concept design was released to the public, I took it upon myself to come up with headcanons for her

My Wapeach Lore/Headcanons:

Her real title is Princess Pearui, or "Pear" for short. (Peach + Warui, only using the back half instead of the front half)

She's the smallest of the (metaphorical) Wah Family

She used to play tennis, but was disqualified for bringing an axe to a tennis match in place of a racket.

This ruling was made by none other than Peach, whom Pear vowed revenge against ever since, or at very least, a chance to compete with her again and prove she's the best, once and for all.

Pear has a general hatred towards rules as a whole, be it the rules of a game or the rules of proper princess etiquette. She breaks rules partly out of spite and partly to illustrate that she's too strong to be controlled. (She exclusively jaywalks AND says she owns the road)

Wario loves garlic. Waluigi might have a taco stand. Pearui's favorite things to eat by the fistful are anchovies. On pizza, bread, or just straight-up. She's even drink the oil that the fish were contained in. And pears, but that's a given. (She also likes peaches, but would never admit to it, let alone eat one in public.)

She's always got her axe ready, hidden away... somewhere.

On top of a strength that allows her to chuck things far and swing her axe with relentless fury, she's also nigh-indestructible like Wario. Crushing, stabbing, burning, electrocution, a point-blank explosion? You name it, she's survived it, albeit usually bent or warped into a different shape as a result. (Again, just like Wario in the Wario Land games)

She can also swim through the air like Waluigi, but not as fast

Okay Per My Last Post (aka the poll about getting isekaied into a random Universe) here is how I would win getting Isekaied into the Mushroom Kingdom:

Step 1: Get a design that's suspiciously parallel to Rosalina's. It is ESSENTIAL that I become a counterpart to a member of the main recurring cast, and my best chance of lasting as long as possible comes from being the male counterpart to our one remaining princess. Other options include being adopted by Bowser as the 6th Koopaling, or becoming Wapeach, but I would like to remain a human male.

Also on the design notes: While I have to be a parallel to Rosalina, it is also essential that I keep the "just a guy-ness" the Mario bros have. It is essential to the dynamic.

Step 2: Show up in the next Mario DLC as a secret character that you unlock by clearing some stupidly difficult endgame challenge and beating a secret boss. Have a bunch of guides made about how to unlock me and become a beloved fan favorite. Theories abound about who I am and my role in the next Mario game. Because I am another guy in the roster, people start shipping me with Rosalina as a crack ship.

Step 2.5: Reprise my role as a secret character in another Mario game or a spinoff like Princess Peach Showtime. It is essential that a pattern be established of rescuing me from a secret boss. Nintendo must be committed to having me be in every game, even if I have to keep breaking the rules of the world to do it. I HAVE to keep being in the mainline games. Otherwise, Nintendo WILL forget about me. It's not me against the Mushroom Kingdom and its dangers. It's me against Nintendo.

Step 3: Show up in the next Mario Galaxy game as a playable character, again unlocked by beating some stupidly hard level and boss. THIS TIME THOUGH: Rosalina actually asks Mario to rescue me, further feeding the shipping fuel.

HOWEVER, there is a TWIST. After you unlock me, I will reveal a secret endgame set of levels that lets you unlock my backstory, where it is revealed that I am NOT Rosalina's lover, but instead the heir to her throne, and I get a magical girl transformation to distinguish myself from the bros. How does this work? Is she my mother? An adopted parent? A sibling? It is never explained, but all the shippers explode in horror. It is the greatest scandal to hit the Mario fandom since Chris Pratt in the Mario Movie. If I'm ever not in a game fans will riot.

(Alternatively, the entire game could be my proper introduction and lore like Galaxy 1 was for Rosie. I'm not picky, as long as I'm unique enough that I'm worth adding to DLC)

Step 4: Get added to the Mario Kart 9 DLC with Pauline because fans love me so much. At this point, I'm basically immortal because no matter what I do I will continue to show up for games. However, my magical girl transformation is a one-off fluke, and the fact I'm secretly a prince is never acknowledged again.

Step 5: Continue to be added to party game DLC until the release of Oddesy 2, where i have my own space kingdom with rosalina, similar to pauline and her kingdom. Mario can buy my magical girl outfit and he looks stunning.

Step 6: Profit.

Step 7: Accidentally do the gay hand thing (you know the one) in a promotional artwork, causing Nintendo America to apologize for promoting Gay Stereotypes on Twitter and take down the promo art. It remains up in Japan. Multiple news publications call me "Mario's first gay character" with varying inflections of 😡 or 🥰. Fail to get into smash for at least 5 games.

Femme fatale, long forgotten and "meant to be forgotten forever" mother of Bowser in my Bowuigi Super Mario Bros AU, Lena!

A little backstory: I was browsing through some Mario fanart; particularly of Wapeach drawn by the talented Nico--Neko on DeviantArt when I stumbled upon the character, Lena featured in a few of the artwork. From there, I researched about this character and the 1993 live action Super Mario Bros. movie. I'm not going to lie; the movie was a dumpster fire that contradicts the video games but at least, there were a few gems amongst the mess. I honestly dig Lena's costumes.

I wanted to make a bit of lore predating the Mario storyline in my AU so I decided why not take an original character from the 1993 movie and redesign as well as rewrite her backstory for my own Mario AU? Most of my Lena redesign is inspired from the Lena art done by Nico since the artist's take is so pretty so I did my best to put a few twists to Lena in my style to make her unique in my own spin. As you can notice, I make her around the age gap she was portrayed in the original movie. My guess is that she's around her mid to late 30's, I could be wrong but oh well. 🤷

Hey I can't remember did I ever ask you where and how Wario and Waluigi fit into your Mushroom World lore building?

I’m not entirely sure about them yet, especially Waluigi. For Wario, Diamond City is in the Metro Kingdom and his castle is in the outskirts of the kingdom. Kitchen Island, where his nemesis Captain Syrup is from, is off the coast of the Luncheon Kingdom. I’d imagine he met Waluigi at some point during his role as CEO of WarioWare. I don’t know enough about his games to have a definitive answer yet. I’m also not entirely sure of his role in the Mushroom Kingdom. But since he never appears in any mainline Mario game (I don’t count Super Mario Land 2 in my lore cause that game is weird), I suppose he just comes to visit the Mushroom Kingdom during sports and parties and stuff?

But they most definitely aren’t related. I actually quite enjoy the headcanon that Wario and Waluigi aren’t their real names but rather nicknames they picked up to antagonize Mario and Luigi, so I might be adopting that one. I’m thinking perhaps Wario started going by that name when he declared Mario his rival, and Waluigi followed suit after meeting Wario and deciding Luigi was his. The other thing that I need to figure out is what exactly they are. Their pointed ears and general gremlin vibes makes me think it would be more fun for them to be nonhumans.

Honestly, I think it could be fun if they were something that purposefully chooses to become an opposite of someone to antagonize them. Reminiscent of like, a fae changeling or something. Cause like, from a meta perspective their existence makes perfect sense, but in universe isn’t it kinda odd? Especially with Wapeach being a conceptual thing as well. Where are all these warui people coming from??? It probably makes more sense for them to just be humans, but sometimes I get to forgo sensibility for the sake of having fun jdbcjdbs

It's really a crying shame I haven't done anything to make this part of my internet persona, but I am MASSIVELY obsessed with cartoon girlspersonal, cartooning of femininity. Like if there was an aspect of cartoon history I had to lock myself into studying, (besides racism) it would be women. I think the last time I made a fuss about this is when I wrote like a thread on Twitter about Clawroline and blocked people for shitting on her design. I ADORE Clawroline.

I also adore a lot of cartoon women from Nintendo, cause they're between outlandishly sexual or sensual as a less family-oriented brand might do, but also much sillier than say Disney women despite Disney often being seen as like them. They're also ofc coming more from Japanese cartooning sensibilities which has its own long history I'm tragically not as familiar with as those of America. But at the same time Popeye was an explicit early influence of Mario, though during that time of heaviest influence, you had Pauline portrayed in a more sexy cartoon lady way not very reminiscent of say, Olive Oil. But still not necessarily a Jessica Rabbit type yknow, and it may be more relevant to compare her design to something from anime/manga design history really, like I said I don't know.

Though once Super Mario rolled around the style very much more began to resemble comedy anime cartoon styles, and it's been like that ever since. But definitely has evolved into its own thing.

Anyways this is preamble to say, I've been silently obsessed with Wapeach. Like, I've both been kinda passive to it, but also it's something I know if I gave it my attention I'd go crazy, cause there is SO MUCH going on with that design. And there's so much that COULD be going on with that design that isn't too! My feelings on it are not negative nor positive, it's such a THING, it's crazy. It feels like a concept that would be relegated to shitty fanart by people who only draw women for Twitter thirst trapping, but supposedly the idea reached official unused design status! And it's intriguing not because it's surprising, it feels like something that would have been done forever ago, but the execution is... well its AN execution there are so many ways to go I can't say I'm surprised nor expected what they went for. Well, historical context could help, I think I've heard she was designed in the 2000s, and she looks it if so. She's deeply fascinating of a creature. A little she-beast.

Another time I'm kind of early to a party on a fandom thing as Wapeach is now currently a trending thing but a while before that I had made OCs (just didn't know enough about Mario "deep lore" to flesh them out beyond the surface) who were the same kind of simultaneously-evil-doppleganger-and-their-own-thing to Peach and Daisy as Wario and Waluigi. However, instead of keeping the Wa thing as I kind of felt like that's a bros thing, I kept to the same namesakes as Peach and Daisy and named them after the fruit and flower respectively on a list of the most poisonous ones that sounded the most like they could work as not just a name but a villain name (hey, even though it isn't a poisonous one the villain in Peach's upcoming solo game is named after a fruit). Therefore I ended up with;

Princess Elderberry and Princess Foxglove

Once I get a design/details about them I'm fully happy with I'd post them on my main if they don't get overshadowed by the Wapeach trend
