Entering the stage to Faith In The Future opener The Greatest, the love for Louis was incontestable; every fan in that theatre willing him to put in the performance of his life.

Having gone into the recording of his second studio album with the intent of it coming to life in a live setting, it's hardly surprising that The Greatest proves a mammoth opener; Shepherd's Bush Empire quite literally shaking with screams and unabashed singing.

To captivate an audience and organically grow alongside your fandom is something truly commendable, and certainly no mean feat. History's shown us that being a member of even the world's biggest bands doesn't guarantee solo success; but Louis' strength is in his honest song writing he believes in whole-heartedly.

More so than ever, Louis is proud of his work, confident in his abilities, finding and finally owning his artistic identity. X

We as a fanbase seem to always be so starved for content that a grainy blurry shirtless picture of the guy seems to shake all of us out of our stupor. We don’t even expect the high quality glossy semi clothed pictures that other fandoms get on the regular. Just a few pictures of Louis in a suit or sleepy eyed pic in a lowered scoop neck T-shirt seems to surpass all our expectations and then we get a pic like today’s and we collectively lose our sanity.

1D fed fans content so consistently that two weeks without it seems that an eternity.

On the other hand, Louis and LTHQ are notorious for allowing viral moments to slip away, for ignoring obvious marketing opportunities (that fans practically feed to them on a platter— like Project Defenceless). WAOYF was viral in December, but they let it die, and the new music video will do nothing for charts or for his monthly listeners. There was opportunity to publicize AFHF through media and interviews prior to the festivals, but they never tried. They could have followed up on FiTF promo after release week, but it died.

Their vision is incredibly myopic in depending so much on fanbase reaction and involving the fanbase (which always means giving exposure to the same 10 stalkers).

The funny and inadvertent thing is that Harries actually generate a lot of viral moments for Louis, unpaid.

Yeah they generate a lot of hate tweets. But Harries actually keep up with Louis’ activities and news meticulously, save his photos, react to everything he does, react to LTHQ, watch his videos, watch his shows. Even when Harry has just been on the LLS, they’re all over Louis’ business.

Harry will always be Harry-from-1D, same as Louis, same as Niall, Liam, Zayn. They are never breaking free, no matter what they prefer. 13-year-olds all over the world are writing rehashed Larry porn and “discovering” 1D, because it will always be new for someone. Everyone loves a tortured love story, 99% of it made up by fans- tale as old as time.

… I lost track of your ask. Yeah, we are really starved for content compared to other fandoms and compared to 1D days. A lot of people were excited that Louis was in LA and hoping he would turn up for James Corden’s last show. It’s kind of funny to track Louis these days, because he’s living a good life and seems to be doing what he wants, avoiding the spotlight when he wants to, showing up to bars to enjoy himself and not for the paps. A good change from 2016!

Liam's new single didn't chart on the UK Top 100 😥 Same thing happened to Zayn's last single and to all Louis' singles since Two of Us. Seems like the British public are only interested in Harry and Niall these days 😥

I wasn't expecting Teardrops to chart. No matter how good the song may or may not be. Liam's reputation isn't great overall. People haven't forgiven him for what he's done over the years. So he can't afford to drop a picsart album cover like he did and treat his fans like they're 14 years old with the targeted promo. He is endlessly mocked. His current image is all over the place, the way he uses his fake relationship as PR is off putting and i don't think he has recovered enough from his addiction issues to be ready to throw himself back into the grind again. He just can't get people hyped and on his side. I feel sorry for him, because no matter what he does he can't get it right. I want him to do well, but i keep observing him do things and going "Oh no, Liam".

The thing with Zayn is that he just drops a song and vanishes. No promo, appearances or performances. I think he's doing well despite the little effort he puts into it. The last song wasn't good in my opinion. I have more faith in the song coming next friday and his coming album. He needs to make an effort to promote it though if he wants it to chart. Going on tour would also help.

Louis can't pick singles for shit. That's all on him. He's also chosen to move away from pure pop. Mr. I hate tiktok didn’t take advantage of the hype around waoyf. Bar BTM, his music videos are also low effort and, pardon the language, bad. He's also got the fakest lad image known to man and treats his fans like shit. Apart from also being sabotaged by radio stations and getting no radio play, i think all of this explains his no charting pretty well.

I think Niall is doing well because he's making easy listening pop music, is not problematic, is drama free and he's got a good reputation. He's authentically himself and pretty happy- go-lucky. He's able to draw in directioners and solo h/l/l and z stans. He's a safe haven with little ambition, but that also means he's not able to break the internet. He's got more monthly listeners than Louis, but i don't think he's got a bigger fanbase. I think they're on par when it comes to tour size and sold tickets. Did his latest singles chart in the UK (or just Ireland?).

Harry is Sony's golden goose and he gets everything he points at. So...

Im tired of seeing the same patterns over and over again. I used to follow some solo Louies (because I love louis lol) but I had to unfollow because the energy was constantly very negative. I remember how much hate H received from them when As it was became viral on tik tok. They said Harry writes bad songs with no substance just to make them go viral.. when as it was is actually a very heavy song lyrically. But the funny thing is, the same people are now encouraging fans to make FITF viral on tik tok because “it’s what Louis deserves” and I AGREE! But the double standards are crazy. Like? Didn’t you hate that app?? Also, I still recall when so many fans (including some larries) insinuated that Jeff bought Harry his Grammy and that it was undeserved. So many Louies wrote essays about it, even condemning the academy, talking about how they’re so glad Louis doesn’t “kiss anyones ass.” But now that louis followed them on Twitter, they all want him to get a nomination!! It just makes you think- they don’t actually hate this thing, they were just upset that it wasn’t louis. Harry releasing his line with Gucci? BAD! He’s greedy! Louis designing a clothing line? Amazing and exciting! Similar projects but very different receptions. And even among larries, Harry always ends up as the bad guy. I remember when boyfriends came out I thought Harry was singing about his experiences, but fandom quickly concluded that he must have been writing about Himself being a shitty boyfriend. So, it’s not possible for him to be hurt by someone?? He’s always the bad guy? The possibility of it being about Louis wasn’t even discussed. And now WAOYF has added to this ( A bop tho). And people Think this. They think Louis is patient, kind, delicate, loyal, but Harry is high maintenance and petty and arrogant and selfish etc etc. if you think this relationship is so one-sided why do you even support it yk? The reality is these are complex human beings that have a good and bad side to them and are both capable of making mistakes. And now Louis is releasing different vinyls and extra songs to help him chart higher (I also want that number 1 for him btw) but if H was doing that… people would have dragged him already. Even Louis’ co-writer is liking tweets about gatekeeping the songs to encourage ppl to buy lol (imagine if kid harpoon did that lmao). Sorry this is SO long omg. Bottom line is, I love Louis with all my heart and FITF is a masterpiece that deserves all the recognition but the double standards drive me up the wall!!!

Do you know why WAOYF entered the top worldwide chart right now? Did something happen? They announced it as a single? I feel like I’m missing something

from what i've seen around the internet radios in mexico and colombia have been playing it in the last few days and rn it's charting pretty high in various latam countries (latam being the queen as always) they didn't announce anything for now, as far as i know 🤷 let's wait and manifest🕯🕯🕯

The streams are super low because Spotify track streams following the UTC timeline. So it’s basically only streams from New Zealand, Australia and a few more countries. We will see the real numbers tomorrow.

But it’s interesting to see that The Greatest and Written All Over Your Face (which are swapped, in the other asked I mistakenly wrote that WAOYF was second while it’s first) have almost double the streams of some other songs

yeah it’s still too early, but it’s so telling that the greatest and waoyf are doing so well already, even charting on iTunes together with silver tongues, there definitely is an agreement regarding them!

Do you think this no 1 will give Louis more confidence in pushing his team to work on the commercial performance side of things? I think BMG came in resigned to the fact that he wouldn’t sell much music so they didn’t really do anything for radio play or play listing. Louis seems to have convinced himself that he is not going to get those things either so he has to focus on touring because that’s what he saw with Walls. Maybe this changes it a bit in his mind and when he sees how much effort fans are putting in to get him played on the radio he can actually push his team to do the same. I am just hoping that BMG doesn’t just count this as a win and sit on its laurels as they seem to be currently doing and Louis actually calls them out and makes them work on the things that labels should be influencing ie getting him radio play, playlisting and promo opportunities.

The way that Spotify playlisting algorithm works, if a song is trending or going viral, it should organically be getting onto bigger playlists.

Louis’ song WAOYF getting on the Pop Up playlist is an example of a viral song getting attention on big playlists (I doubt BMG influenced this very much, or they would have done it before).

The playlist is very big, and WAOYF is the second song on the list, meaning that more of the GP should hear it (especially if we keep streaming it from this playlist). Keep in mind that all of these streams count toward album numbers and certification.

The more popular and the higher Louis’ playlisting, the harder it is for the BBC, a publicly funded radio station, to ignore Louis Tomlinson and come up with excuses not putting him on radio. They are not supposed to blacklist artists or show preferential bias for certain labels (though BBC Radio is enormously influential on charting… hence Bruce Springsteen’s being selected as Album of the Week mattered).

Most of industry’s opportunities are linked in the same way. More virality on Tiktok, Twitter, and Instagram -> more favorable positioning on DSP playlists (SoundCloud, Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Deezer, Tidal) -> more radio play -> more invitations to perform live, including festivals + more features on major media outlets like Billboard, NME, Rolling Stone, The NY Times, NPR.

LTHQ finally creating a Tiktok account was a good change, but they aren’t using the platform ideally and Louis isn’t getting the virality he should from an album release. He could do more lives and live performances for engagement, and the clips of viral live moments (like Louis at the barricade, funny signs, or funny moments with fans) should be posted up on Tiktok. Funny parts of interviews should be up on his Tiktok. Live performances and photoshoots should be on his Instagram.

I definitely got the feeling that Louis didn’t feel he could get certain things and was resigned to touring. But I hope that the UK no. 1 and USA top 5 gives his team enough confidence to demand better, and to try for festivals. He deserves to play his favorites.

Nah, larries from the USA and Europe really don’t get that Latam fans love Louis. Even ones who don’t know his solo music would actually recognise him from 1D. I can even say that Latam larries do actually like Louis and his music. The iTunes charts with WAOYF and FitF are so great to see. Mexico deserves this content, this chance to meet Louis, as do other Latam countries. Latam treats Louis well and I love that for him 😫

I understand BMG asking Louis to do the small USA radio station promo tour, and it did get Bigger Than Me some radio spins, but look at what a week of vacationing in Mexico does for Louis in Latam: FITF songs back on iTunes in multiple Latam countries, and FITF no. 1 on iTunes in Mexico. This all happened spontaneously, without interviews with radio or official meet-and-greets.

Louis’ name is already insanely famous in Latam (Walls was selling as no. 1 or 2 album well into 2021). He should do more appearances there, and Latam fans deserve more concerts and more promo.

I think the team he has around it's the reason why Louis seems like, just fine with what he has. Like, I'm not saying Louis doesn't want to be successful or doesn't care about charts and all of that, but he and all his team look like the n1 is just perfect and that's it, not any interest on doing anything else, not in release waoyf even when they know about the potential, not taking seriously tik tok and how good could be for his career if they would use it correctly, not a sign of -sane- ambition for a better career and the good thins he deserves. Louis it's clearly surrounded by all of that thoughts that say the bare minimum it's ok, that considering how he is blacklisted from everything a n1 it's awesome (it is, but they are not aspiring for more). And with all of that, it's not our fault how he won't be even on the top 20 on UK when in the last week he was first, it's not our fault tht the streams keep decreasing everyday, it's not our fault the album is not even founded on top 200 on itunes. If they really think this """fan base of 14-18""" will be here forever, that 5 years touring will never be close to reality.
