hockeyteam!141 x figureskater!reader pt 2!
part 2 of this au finally! i'm so glad people like it! comment if you wanna be added to the taglist, already planning pt 3 so there will be more where this came from 💗
part 1 | part 2 | part 3 | part 4 | part 5 | part 6 | part 7 | part 8 | part 9
Tumblr media
your name was announced through the loudspeaker as you skated onto the ice, all covered in sequins and polyester. you’d always thought it was a little bit silly, the conventions around figure skating costumes. that fit that Margot Robbie threw in I, Tonya about the ridiculousness of it? yeah, you’d had a moment like that once or twice. the rough fabric scratched your arms, the glint of the sequins drew focus away from your expressions. but you still felt elegant as you set your mark at center ice, hitting your starting pose in the silence before the music began.
breathe in, breathe out. focus. momentum is everything, remember your character, focus going into your jumps.
in the moment before your routine started, you flicked your eyes up and scanned the crowd. it was something that you’d done ever since your first routine that you took to competition. usually, you were looking for your parents, their smiling faces and the flash of your mom’s digital camera. now, though, it became more curiosity, finding a spot to let your eyes settle when you weren’t looking at the judges’ table. it was then that you saw them. four big, brutish hockey players sat shoulder to shoulder in the stands. the one with the mohawk (soap, you remembered) lifted his hand to wave at you, only for the man beside him (kyle, you guessed from this distance) to swat it down.
the shock must have played out on your face, because you saw price smirk as your music began playing. you let the sound seep into your bones and just like that, it all melted away and you skated.
the four of them watched pretty intently for the first few seconds of your routine. price was focused on the placement of your body, how you kept your center of gravity in the middle at all times. he had to admire how precise you were in your movements, like you knew the physics behind all of it. for all he knew, you did. he could tell you were skilled and he liked that about you. talent recognizes talent, or however the saying goes.
kyle was simply admiring your choice of music. Moonlight Sonata, though basic, was like black coffee, he thought. a classic choice that never really got old, but so many things could be added to it to make it new and exciting. and watching you skate to it, he felt like he’d never heard it before. he watched your face more than anything else. you were so expressive, a story playing out in your eyes, and he soaked it all up. it was like reading a novel, and this one was a page-turner.
ghost was watching the lines of your body. it was like you were painting the air as you moved, each flick of the wrist and lift of the leg deliberate and purposeful. it all served to make a pretty picture. every now and again, he’d look at the thin lines your skates left on the ice, the swirls and curves detailing everywhere you’d been. much prettier than the harsh notches he left behind when he stepped out of the rink, he thought. just like you, they were delicate.
soap was far less interested in the artistry or skill of it and more focused on you. the way your hair moved as you spun on the ice, the way your costume clung to your skin. he couldn’t even act as if he wasn’t watching disrespectfully, thinking of what your body might look like under the spandex and sparkles. you lifted your leg and began spinning, and soap thought he might keel over right then and there. ghost nudged him as he adjusted himself on the bench, a silent gesture that told him to behave.
johnny gestured to price behind kyle’s back, getting his attention. “didn’t i tell ya, cap? a right beaut, that one,” he said, earning himself a flick to the head from ghost. price chuckled, turning his attention back to where you were winding up for a jump. two turns in the air and you landed perfectly. he knew you would, you talented thing. “yeah. a beaut,” price responded, a small smile curving his lips.
...
you skated remarkably, in your opinion. it was a relatively simple routine, but with every completed skate, regardless of skill level, came a sense of accomplishment. as you hit your ending pose, you made eye contact with your hockey players in the stands again. ghost’s face was unreadable from this distance, but you caught the pleased expressions of the other three as they clapped for you. soap had a glint in his eyes that spelled mischief and made something in your stomach tighten. kyle was looking at you like the artist you perceived yourself to be, almost how you imagined someone would look at their favorite painting. and price’s face had pride written all over it. you caught an almost imperceptible nod from him, as if to say well done.
you bowed to both sides of the rink and skated off the ice, a performer’s smile on your lips. it wasn’t entirely fake, not like it had been at some competitions. this time, it was born of the idea that four of the men you’d been watching, nay, pining after for a month were finally turning their attentions to you. for the first time in a while, you wondered what someone besides the judges thought of your routine. the worst part was, you needed them to like it. you felt the intense need to please them, keep them coming back for more.
the four of them found you in line for the concessions, grabbing a hot chocolate to soothe your cold bones in between programs. your free skate was coming up next and you knew you’d need a little pick-me-up before then. as you thanked the high schooler who’d poured your drink, you turned to walk away and almost collided with a wall of solid muscle. price, you’d realize as you looked up. “told ya we wanted to see ya, bonnie!” soap’s voice chirped from behind the broad shoulders of the team captain.
you glanced around him, noticing kyle and ghost stood off to the side. kyle was all polite smiles and ghost looked as though he was aware of how much space he was taking up, supremely uncomfortable as people brushed past him. soap was stood off to the other side of price, arms crossed over his chest. then your eyes turned up to the captain himself, feeling a sense of pride radiating off of him. you weren’t sure why; this was a man who barely knew you. but it made your stomach flutter all the same. “good performance you put on out there, love,” he said, the rumble of his baritone voice more compelling when it was directed at you. you’d seen the boys scramble to follow his orders before during a game, but you’d thought it was just his rank on the team. no, you realized, it was definitely the voice.
“thank you,” you replied sheepishly, clutching the warm styrofoam cup in your icy fingers. “i’m glad you all liked it.” kyle spoke up, stepping a bit closer to where you stood. “liked it? i loved it! you’ll have to tell me more about how you choreographed it, the musicality was insane!” “easy, garrick,” ghost’s voice rumbled from where he stood, a bit muffled by the black surgical mask. “don’t wan’ to scare off our pretty bird.” oh, you could get used to that. you spoke up, your eyes flicking between the four of them. “actually, i still have another program to skate.” you hesitated, almost worried you were being too forward. but then you continued. why not live a little, take some risks? “if you all wanted to stay, that is.”
you didn’t have to tell them twice.

link click musical list pt.6, (longer bcs i keep accidentally posting these early, gotta make up for the short pt.5)
also hi, this one took a while bcs i keep getting sad over not finding a Wang Yifei-Zhu Hanbin LG uppies clip :')
(pt.1, pt.2, pt.3, pt.4, pt.5, pt.7 here)
81. 24/03/2024 night, Zhu Hanbin wore his shirt inside out lol, there's a good chance it was like that the whole performance since LG actors don't change costume. Also, I love how Zi bowen shouted his name, it's cute.
82. Cai Lu's short vlog, includes Guo Hongxu and Ji Xiaokun karaoke, JXK being bad at basketball, and chilling in the dressing room.
83. 28/03/2024, Cao Muzhi getting manhandled by Cai Lu (I drew it hehe) and also giving the biggest laugh when he won first round of RPS against Zhu Hanbin plss.
84. 01/04/2024, Wu Hanglu bullying Bai Zhuoming, Du Guangyi being aggressive, and BZM being confused and overwhelmed in RPS. If you're asking why DGY shouted his line, it's bcs BZM and WHL were too busy bickering to beckon him to the couch like they're supposed to do. Also, they sing 'Dive Back in Time' together.
85. 29/03/2024, Wang Yifei, please stop bullying Wu Hanglu, don't squish her, look at her, she's tiny. See? Now she's bullying you back.
86. 05/04/2024 night, piglet is back!! Wu Yihan, Cai Qi. WHY ARE YOU BOTH SO MEAN TO THE PIGLET?? WYH does not let CQ play around with RPS (by not doing them at all)
87. 05/04/2024 night, bonus to the performance above. WYH does not hug in "Pursuing Light" for once.
88. 06/04/2024 day, New Cai Qi pair unlocked with Guo Hongxu. Awkward eye contact and GHX just assumes he won RPS when he didn't lol, don't you know CQ cheats? Also, Zuo Yiping looks so short between them, helpp.
89. 30/03/2024 night, Wu Yihan going *finger points* "whos singing the sofa song?", and Qian Dongyue's birthday!
90. 13/04/2024 day, I think, Wang Yifei scared Guo Hongxu with that overly enthusiatic jump hug.
91. 13/04/2024 night, Jing Yanqiao 21st birthday!! Let's go! There's actually a full video of your encore now.
Also, #90 and #91, both GHX and JYQ caught off guard by WYF and ZHB's mic cupping habit during 'Dive Back in Time'
92. 06/04/2024 night, I can't find a clip showing Wu Yihan drinking vinegar, but I can show you Cao Muzhi being cute as he walks across the table. And saying 'be careful' in 'Dive Back in Time' bcs something happened with WYH offscreen, i think he hit a camera.
93. 06/04/2024 night, nevermind! Shimmer to the rescue! Here is Wu Yihan drinking vinegar! (he Du Guangyi-ed himself (#19 and #31))
94. 14/04/2024 day, Guo Hongxu has successfully been influenced to cup their mics. Also, I'm now declaring that Guo Hongxu and Wang Yifei is the perfect disgruntled cat-oversized puppy duo, just look at their hug.
95. 14/04/2024 day, another POV of the performance above so you can see Wang Yifei nod approvingly once GHX uses his method.
96. 14/04/2024 night, just a shortclip of Wang Minhui putting Cai Qi in a headlock.
97. Event clip, mostly just explaining the basketball event itself but I wanna show you all Du Guangyi being bad at basketball in the last 10 seconds.
(speaking of event, the theatre is gonna count which actor scores the most during basketball scene/"Faith of Friendship". me and the musical brainrot gang over in the lc 18+ server are doing bets on which actor is scores the most by the end of the month)
98. 19/04/2024, poor Deng Xianling just wanna tie her shoes, stop bothering her lol.
99. 19/04/2024, same performance as above. English boy Teng Chunpeng is very excited abt basketball.
100. 20/04/2024 night, have Jing Yanqiao, shamefully losing 2-8 to Zhu Hanbin
101. 21/04/2024 day, Bai Zhuoming won the match, he teases Wang Minhui about it the whole encore to the point he messed up the entirety of RPS song lol. (Also, they got 15-12, they were conspiring together)
102. 22/04/2024, Shu Rongbo getting startled by Cai Lu's leg and Du Guangyi adding to the leg jenga is very precious, I wanna draw that. SRB also won basketball 36-0 bcs DGY is a softie granpa, I guess we knows who wins this month.
(and no, as much as i favored him, i did not bet on srb :') )
(also, did i wait for the 22nd so i can get at least 1 srb video this post? yes.)
*Please give a big round of applause to @shimmeringweeds for all xhs clips. I could not navigate that site at all.
Bonus time! Made a list (here!) of Zhu Hanbin and Jing Yanqiao performances the other day, thus that's the bonus clips you're getting for this part. Please check them out, they're really cool.
But I guess I might as well add this funny video of Cai Qi and Cao Muzhi performing 'Mia Famiglia' from Apollonia musical. It's gold, just for the fact that CQ acts as if he's in a drama while CMZ acts as if he's in a comedy.

Percy Jackson Mortal Au Part 2
Part 1
The only thing the school was talking about was the new show. Every month or so, a new show would appear. Not all of them made the cut, but everyone was sure this show would make it, seeing the hit it had been last year. And new things happened this time.
The first Troy, the star, Percy freaking Jackson, was doubting whether to audition or not. And the second one, Jason, was sick. Nothing like a throat infection to ruin your singing career. And he was still training the football team.
This opened up the auditions. It was known that Octavian had ended as a forerunner last year and had ended bitter about it and made sure to have everyone know he was running for it.
Another possible candidate was Travis Stoll. He wasn’t able to try out last year as he was already signed up for another musical, where he starred, so he already had experience singing and acting, unlike Octavian.
As for the Gabriellas, there wasn’t much certainty. What gossip said was that Piper McLean, daughter of famous Tristan McLean, was moving to another city. What Drew Tanaka could outwardly confirm, as she said she’d seen it, was that Piper hadn’t signed up for Gabriella, but for Kelsie.
What half of the school thought was that Katie Gardner was going to get the part. She’d starred in a dancing performance, along with Lavinia Asimov, who claimed she’d heard her sing and had a ‘truly wonderful voice that could move anybody.’ Though Katie had shown herself modest, she hadn’t denied she wasn’t interested in the part.
The other half of the school believed Drew Tanaka herself would achieve the part. She was going to perform in a musical last year, but it had been canceled. Lacy had fired the rumors by saying Drew wasn’t the reason it got canceled and had actually been carrying the show. Drew hadn’t said anything about it, but she was actually aspiring to be Sharpay, or at least that was what Mitchell claimed.
Everyone still thought Silena Beauregard would get the first Sharpay, but Valentina Diaz, one of the school's best costume designers, if not the best, was overheard saying she wouldn't be surprised if Silena took over Annabeth's role.
All throughout the day the buzzing sounds of the phones could be heard as people conspired and posted their theories. Lee Fletcher, from the Shakespearean drama club, seemed to have taken it as a personal job to report everything.
"Stop it, Lee, it's starting to get annoying." Will told him when they met at his locker.
"It was always annoying." Nico suported.
Lee shrugged. "Everyone wants to know what's going on."
"Not true. I bet the jocks don't care. Like, at all " Nico refuted.
He and Will ha been followed around all day. Everyone wanted to know if they'd known beforehand, or would get a head start, but they didn't know.
Similarly, Annabeth had been followed all day, everyone kept asking her about her boyfriend not auditioning. She was glad Thalia got her back and helped her out with it. She was also glad with Silena for calmly telling everyone to back off and Clarisse for just looking like a bodyguard, although Thalia alone was intimidating enough and had been dragged by Silena.
“I honestly don’t get the hype,” Annabeth told them in Piper’s car. To say she was tired was an understatement. She was beyond exhausted.
"It was a great hit when it came out." Silena offered. "And was one of last year's shows that weren't canceled."
"I'm with Annabeth in this one," Clarisse said. "I really don't get the hype."
"That's because you're a jock." Silena said endearingly.
"If you ask me, High School Musical is overrated." Thalia said from the front of the car.
Piper shrugged. "Well, what can you do about it?"
"And what did Percy mean by that, that he's not auditioning?" Annabeth demanded.
"That he doesn't wanna?" Clarisse replied like it was obvious.
Silena glared at her. "Maybe he's not sure."
"Yeah, he probably said what he meant. Guys usually say what they think." Thalia supplied. "They can't add much meaning or layer." Piper laughed in the seat next to her.
But that didn't ease Annabeth's worries.

hello hello ! been a while since ive requested. could i get og micheal, thomas hewitt, jason, and the sinclaires with a really out-there gothic bf? im talking the whole nine miles, extravagante makeup, very gothic clothes, loud goth music, all of it. i just wanna see what their reactions would be! thank you :]
also shhhhh take the dabloons i gave you, even if it isnt applicable on tumblr. please i have too many dabloons i must share my wealth.
- 🫀
Of course I can heart anon. So I was goth for about a year before I just kind of wasn't interested in it anymore and I've had my fair share of out there looks. I've dyed my hair every color under the rainbow, I've drawn on horrible big eyeliner, etc. But I still hold an interest in goth looks, music, etc.
Slashers with an out there, goth male reader
Includes: Og Michael Myers, Thomas Hewitt, Jason Voorhees, and the Sinclair brothers
Warnings: Slashers being a little mean, mentions of self harm and mental health issues, mentions of stalking, kinda implied Stockholm syndrome
Og Michael Myers
Now Michael first started stalking you because of how out there you looked. He was so curious about your big hair and huge eyeliner.
He'd watch you very often, learning that this is just how you are and not actually a costume. This just drew him in even more.
Now as for when you start dating Michael will be a little jealous because of all the attention you're getting from strangers. He doesn't care how you dress it's the fact that other people feel the need to comment on it and constantly look at you that bothers him.
He's not too confused about why a man is wearing makeup because he doesn't fully understand gender norms but he still wonders why you do it.
I know goth music is a wide set of genres but I feel like he'd like the slow and dark music. He honestly might put on a few of your records if you're out and he's at home.
Overall Michael doesn't care so much how you dress but it is something he likes and thinks you should keep doing.
Thomas Hewitt
I wouldn't say he's scared the first time he sees you but he is kinda freaked out. Thomas is a sheltered Christian man so seeing someone like you is freaky for him. Although if he sees you wearing rosary's he's feeling a little better.
After getting to actually know you he sees that you're not that scary and that he doesn't really mind how you look. Although his family will give you odd looks and rude comments about how men shouldn't wear makeup.
As for the music Thomas is a little sacred. I know that everyone thinks he would listen to metal but if we're being honest he was raised on country music and gospel music. He doesn't mind your music it's just new and a little scary.
He'll also worry about you getting hot in all black clothing. He'll try to get you to wear lighter colors but will give up when he realizes that it's not going to happen anytime soon.
Jason Voorhees
Pamela warned him about people like you. Goth's, who according to her are all depressed and cut themselves. But upon meeting you Jason learns that's not true. You're actually pretty happy and you just enjoy dark music and clothes.
He'll watch every morning that you put on makeup. He loves seeing your process as you create thin sharp eyebrows and big black eyeliner. A little confused about why a man is wearing makeup but he honestly doesn't care too much about it
He doesn't mind the music. I feel like Jason never really listens to music anyway so this isn't too big of a deal for him
He's also glad that you don't really mind being around death. Obviously he's going to keep you away from the people he kills but it at least means that you're not going to hate him for it.
He's a little freaked out by the music. No one he's come across has had this kind of music before so it's new to him. Start off slow with The cure and Siouxsie and the Banshees.
Vincent Sinclair
Out of all of the Sinclair brothers he's the most supportive. His mother would have hated you and he loves that. Especially if you have dyed hair, piercing and or tattoos.
Speaking of dyed hair, if you have it he's obsessed with it. He'll convince Bo to go buy you more when your roots grow out and he'll help you with dying it.
He loves goth music. He loves the instrumental elements and how dramatic it sounds. I have a feeling if you gave him pictures of what some goth musicans look like he'll make some of the wax figures look like them.
He'll steal clothes from victims if he thinks you'll like the clothes and probably makes some accesories for you. He'll kinda treat you like a goth barbie doll with how he want's to constantly dress you up and do your makeup.
If his brothers ever make any kind of rude comments he's quick to shut them down. He loves you so much and he won't let Bo give you shit for wearing makeup.
Bo Sinclair
I'm not gonna lie, he's gonna think it's a sex thing. You quickly shut that down and he realizes you just genuinly like the style and music. But he also never even knew about the music element.
But like Vincent he thinks his mother would hate you and he loves that. Probably one of the reasons he keeps you alive.
He'll think you're a little gay for wearing makeup but point out how he is literally dating a man and he'll quiet down really quick.
Doesn't mind the music and will probably start listening to some of the bands you listen to as well.
He doesn't get the fashion and thinks it's just for attention but over time he won't care as much and understand it's more about self expression.
While he does (lovingly) make fun of you for being goth. If anyone else does it, especially a victim he's not having mercy on them. Sure he thinks you look ridiculous sometimes but only he can say that.
If you have piercings and tattoos he will encourage you to get more. Maybe will drop the idea of getting his named tattooed but if you don't want it then he won't force it.
Lester Sinclair
You scare him a little. But after talking for a little bit and seeing how sweet you actually are, he falls for you very hard.
Again, like his brothers he loves you even more because his mother would hate you.
Thinks your music is scary but he won't tell you that.
Loves watching you get ready and how you turn from some normal dude into a super hot vampire.
He loves to play with your hair if it's big and teased up. He knows it's crunchy form hairspray but please let him touch it Y/n.
Will gift you things made of bones and animal skins that he thinks look gothic. He's glad to have an s/o who's so into death. It makes it easy for him to talk to you about his job.
Will defend you against his brothers. Lester won't put up with Bo calling you freaky or asking if you cut yourself. Honestly I can see him getting physical with Bo if it gets to that point of him being an asshole.

Hi :) what’s your feel-good movie? favorite feel-good show? what reminds you of home (doesn’t have to mean house… just things that remind you of the feeling of home)? (i already sent this yesterday but i was having internet troubles so i am not sure if it was received, several of my messages weren't sent last night. otherwise just ignore this :D)
Hello lovely @dummerjan <3 !! Thank you for the ask, sorry I just didn't have much time to answer, new job and all :) I received also the first ask, but I thought I'm gonna answer this one, no idea why xD This took me way longer than it should xD had to think too much 2. what’s your feel-good movie? Probably EverAfter (1998) with Drew Barrymore. It's a fairytale, so it's gonna end well, it has some good moral lessons, amazing male-female friendship, hilarious quotes, Leonardo DaVinci, bad sister AND good sister, beautiful costumes and heroine's gonna safe herself...it's everything I need, so what's not to love? :)) 14. favorite feel-good show? Uuuu, let me think. You mean the show I felt good while watching? Or the show I would watch when feeling very not good and wanting to feel better? Cause what am I supposed to pick? The one I love but makes me emotional wreck? The one that has amazing storytelling but I do not know what to do with life after finishing it?
You get me right? xD I like pain xD
Feel good show when I just want to shut down my brain and smile and feel a bit silly ... then Miranda (BBC) or Hart of Dixie. When I wanna feel good in a "I AM a badass woman" I go for Agent Carter.
When I wanna feel good in a nostalgic, get-back-to-childhood way, I go for Stargate :)) 30. what reminds you of home (doesn’t have to mean house… just things that remind you of the feeling of home)? fjuuu... THIS one is hard ...cymbalo music, hills, swifts, plum dumplings with poppy seeds, wheat fields with grooves, rays of sunlight in a forest, smell of chamomile

ssw | sweetpea; wondering what his kiss feels like. | fluff.
Tumblr media
NOTES:
Okay, so.. Apparently my brain likes to torment me. Because earlier, I was going to outline the next chapter for my Sweetpea x Andrews!OFC fic Gangsta and my brain threw out a casual, “But have you considered.. Using the Lodge!OFC you were planning to use with Reggie Mantle.. With Sweetpea?” and this kind of.. came.
So.. if enough people are interested, I may be considering actually writing them a fic or doing more of these little things based around them.. and trying to delve more into possibly pairing Alyssa with Reggie? Because when I wrote their oneshot I felt like there was potential there too... Also, this one shot is a direct result of me, watching dirty dancing reenactments on tik tok and my love for the movie + the fact that Riverdale does musicals every season...
Anyway, enjoy?
PROMPTS:
taken from either [ HERE ] or [ HERE ] give or take. It could be one or the other or a mix of both at my own choosing.
the way he says your name / his fingers sliding between your own / wondering what your kiss feels like - these are the inspo prompts used for this oneshot.
FANDOM / CHARACTER

OTHER STUFF
[ faq | sfw masterlist - safe for the kiddos but read with caution | tag list ]
“I swear to God, if she doesn’t give me more, I’m going to fall asleep. Is this really all we could find to participate in the musical for you guys?” My sister's question drew me out of a silent stare war with Sweetpea across the auditorium. He rolled his eyes and I stuck out my tongue at him before turning my attention back to my older sister, sighing as I glanced in the direction of the stage up front. “ She’s not that bad.. I mean at least she had the guts to try out for a part?” I mused quietly, shaking my head. Disappointed at myself because I hadn’t signed up.
Stage fright is one hell of a deterrent. And I knew that if I had tried out, no matter how well I knew the movie we were doing our musical adaptation of this year, when opening night came and those curtains opened and I saw all those people sitting out in the seats? I was going to freeze. I’d completely ruin the show. I didn’t want that.
The best I could do was at least offer to do costumes for Kevin. I told myself that behind the scenes was still helping and being supportive but deep down, ugh.. I wanted to do so much more.
If I were half as brave as my older sister Veronica is when it comes to this kind of stuff… Everyone has their fears though. Mine just happen to be public speaking in front of large audiences. My sister tells me constantly that it doesn’t make sense because I can go all over competing in dance stuff and there’s a crowd there, but.. When I’m dancing, I’m focused on footwork. On steps and the music and the way it makes me feel. I don’t have to speak.
This is also ironic when you take into consideration I am not a shy girl by any stretch of the imagination. I’m actually quite vocal. But when it involves speaking in public?
I freeze. I shut down and in turn, I wind up looking like an idiot.
I was so caught up in my own thoughts that I didn’t notice that Veronica had gotten up out of her seat and walked over, taking the seat right beside Kevin. They were whispering back and forth. I laughed softly because knowing my sister, she was probably telling Kevin that Leah needed to find a better attitude or Kevin needed to find a better person to play Baby Housemann.
Oh, if only I had one tenth of a clue.
My sister came back over, sinking down into the seat next to me. “Feel better now?” I asked her, barely hiding my amusement as I said it. She giggled and nodded. “Much better. I want you to remember how much you love me…” she muttered.
I raised a brow. “What’s that even mean?”
“Just wait.”
“What the hell did you do, Ronnie?”
“You’ll find out, Marlena. Just wait.” Veronica wouldn’t give me any more of an answer than that. Grumbling to myself, I settled back in my seat and tried to focus on the ongoing argument between Leah and Kevin from the stage.
Rolling my eyes at her audacity. Literally anyone could’ve done her part better and she had the nerve to demand Kevin to change everything to fit her? Refusing to work with him on anything? Putting down the script when it was the same one they used in the movie?
Just the thought of it had me shaking my head and muttering to myself about the entitlement and audacity. Veronica gave a soft laugh and leaned in, mocking the way she’d delivered her last line and the fact that she wanted pretty much all her dialogue changed and constantly needed reasons why her character did anything they did.
“Marlena! Hey, Marlena, where are you?” Kevin was calling my name. I looked up from the whispered conversation I’d been having with my older sister Veronica and raised my hand, waiting.
“C’mon. I want to try something. Leah’s just not cutting it for me as Baby.” Kevin called out to me as he gave Leah an irritated dirty look. Leah threw down her script and walked out of the auditorium in a huff. “This is a stupid idea for a musical anyway. Nothing’s gonna top what the seniors are doing. Good luck, jackass.”
Veronica gave me a nudge and with a soft laugh, she leaned in, smiling as she whispered into my ear, “You were born for this, Marlena. Dirty Dancing is your all time favorite movie.”
“Excuse me? I thought we both established it was Crybaby. Then Grease. Then Dirty Dancing.” I teased, standing in a hurry. My sister’s rebuttal to this was to point out with a soft laugh that I definitely had my own special vibe and type of guy. I poked out my tongue at her and turned away. Making my way towards the front of the auditorium where Kevin stood.
Once I was up there, Kevin pressed a copy of our class’s script into my hands. “Congratulations, you’ve been promoted from costumes.” he smirked at me. “I have a feeling about you and this part. As a director, I’m going to go with my gut.”
“But I didn’t sign up..” I shuffled my feet.
“ Yeah, well, the ones who did from your class obviously don’t care enough to bother showing up to practice or don’t care enough to give their best when they actually bother to come and we’re rehearsing.” Kevin shrugged. Taking his seat.
Alex, the guy who’d been cast as Johnny Castle, walked over. Wrinkling his nose at me as soon as he stood in front of me. Arms folded over his chest as he asked Kevin in a snobbish tone, “So we’re seriously just letting stage crew have parts now, Keller? Is that what this is? I thought you were going to help us make our musical better, not make it a massive failure.”
“Asshole.” I muttered under my breath, rolling my eyes as I stepped up to him, jabbing a finger into his chest. Giving him a piece of my mind because holy hell did his holier than thou attitude ever irritate me, “I’ll have you know, I probably know this movie line for line. I can probably do all the dances blindfolded, in a wheelchair. Who the hell do you think you are anyway? I saw you in Romeo and Juliet. I have never fallen asleep so fast in my entire life.” I smirked as I went quiet, rolling my eyes at him.
Alex chuckled and rolled his eyes right back at me, making the dismissive remark in response, “Did I ask you to speak? Did I address you directly? No. I didn’t. I was talking to the director. Don’t you have costumes to make or something? You’re holding up rehearsals.”
Out towards the back of the auditorium, I heard my sister cheering me on. Clapping and whistling. Telling me to give him hell and telling Alex he was awfully full of himself for someone who got a thumbs down by a New York theater critic over the summer.
I took a deep breath and glanced down at the script in my hands. Starting to read over it. Ignoring the argument between Kevin and Alex for the most part. Just trying to get myself in character while I waited.
Alex grumbled and stormed back over, standing near me. His posturing tense and a supremely annoyed look in his eyes as he gave me half a second’s glance. Kevin gave the cue to start and Alex read his line first.
“Look, spaghetti arms. This is my dance space. This is your dance space. I don't go into yours, you don't go into mine. You gotta hold the frame.”
Before I even got a chance to read off my line, Kevin was standing up. Making his way towards us. “You two are supposed to be dancing together. Marlena, you need to stand closer. Alex, you need to deliver the line in more of a teasing tone. Like you’re trying to taunt her. Playful. Not like you’re actually being an asshole. Like you’re flirting with her.”
“She’s not my type.” Alex rolled his eyes as he glanced at me. I glared up at him, a hand on my hip. Dangerously close to exploding all over again. I kept everything I’d been about to say to myself though, and with a deep breath, I listened as Kevin gave us both advice. Smirking to myself a little when he lit into Alex for being a drama queen.
After Kevin finished telling us what to fix, we prepared to try again. I stepped closer. Found myself glancing out in the crowd. My eyes settled on Sweetpea.
I found him watching the whole thing play out with an amused smirk. His arms folded over his chest. Holding my gaze boldly. Daring me to look away first. I refused. If  I looked away first, that gave him the upper hand. I was not about to give him that.
,, That jackass. Look at him. All smug.. Ugh, I just wanna punch his stupid sexy face.” the thought surfaced and I quickly did my best at shoving it out again. I found myself thinking about a heated argument we’d had in the hallway earlier.
I found myself kind of drawing parallels between him and the character Alex was supposed to be playing but doing a terrible job at playing. I couldn’t work with the performance Alex was giving, he wasn’t giving me anything to work with.
Somewhere in the midst of it all, I found myself replaying my earlier argument with Sweetpea. Stepping closer to Alex. Doing my best to play at a lack of experience in dance, despite my vast experience and love for it. Getting immersed in the role. Imagining myself as the character Baby.. And not Alex but Sweetpea as Johnny Castle.
Alex delivered his line a second time. His delivery wasn’t much better. Kevin grumbled to himself and made his way over yet again. This time, Kevin’s problem with the scene had absolutely nothing to do with me.
He addressed me first. “Please, please please.. You have to play Baby. You have to.” he gave me a pleading look. “I’m prepared to beg, okay?”
I pretended to mull it over. Smiling as I nodded. “Okay, alright.. I can still do costumes though, right? Because I already have a ton of ideas drawn up..” I shuffled my feet, giving Kevin a pleading look.
“Yeah! Definitely. You’re the only one I trust to do the costumes right, Marlena.” Kevin answered quickly.
He turned his attention to Alex and they got into a heated argument. Alex blamed his performance on me and the fact that I seemed standoffish and that I wasn’t up to his level and shouldn’t even be sharing a stage with him to begin with. Insisting that Kevin should at least give Josie McCoy a chance to play Baby in our play. She already had her hands full with the senior class musical and her performance during intermission and Kevin pointed that out.
“Josie can’t do both musicals and intermission twice, Alex. That’s asking way too much. Even from her, man. Marlena is Baby. You can adapt to that or you’re welcome to leave.” Kevin stood firm in his decision.
Alex eyed me and I stood taller. Smirking up at him. More than a little amused by the entire thing. He chuckled. Shrugging as he tossed down the script he’d been holding in his hands. “Fine. Try to find somebody else to do a better job at playing Johnny. See how that works out. I’m done. I refuse to participate in this mockery.”
He stormed out of the auditorium.
My sister Veronica and Josie McCoy shared a look and a nod. Veronica stood. Josie shot up out of her seat also and the two jogged over to Kevin. Getting him off to the corner of the auditorium. As the three of them whispered back and forth, I stood there, shuffling my feet. Reading ahead in the script.
Taking it all in.
Honestly enjoying the fact that I was going to be playing Baby Housemann in the junior class musical immensely more than I thought I would. ,, until opening night when you’re on stage in front of everyone and you either freeze, bolt out of the room or throw up everywhere.” my mind taunted.
I shoved out the intrusive thought.
Kevin chuckled out loud. Getting so excited that he didn’t keep his voice down when he spoke up. “Your minds, I swear. Yeah, we’re gonna try that. Right now, actually.” Kevin told my sister and Josie. They smirked at each other and as they walked past me, Veronica gave me a wink.
And almost as soon as she did, I braced myself. Because I have the sneaking suspicion that my sister was up to something. And if that something had to do with a certain Serpent reading against me as Johnny Castle?
I was literally going to die. I’d be totally doomed.
,, maybe not.” and even the surprise optimism had me laughing at myself because I knew better.
“Sweetpea, can you come up here, man?” Kevin called out.
I tensed just a little. Took a deep breath. Suddenly I knew exactly what my sister had been up to but my question now was why had Josie taken part in the whole idea? I thought she was dating him? They were hot and heavy at Cheryl’s party a few weeks ago and they went places together a lot …
I prayed for a portal to another dimension to open in the stage and take me out. If my sister has even slightly hinted that I may or may not have feelings for the giant jerk to anyone I swear to God.. I’ll die.
Sweetpea hopped over the chair in front of him and walked down the long aisle, stopping where Kevin sat in the front row. The two were whispering back and forth and more than one time, Sweetpea glanced back at me. Smirking. Chuckling as he listened to what Kevin was telling him and rubbing his chin as he pretended to think something over.
Sweetpea looked over at me and shrugged as he answered Kevin. “I can try. I’m not makin any promises though because I don’t dance and I’ve never seen this movie.”
“Just trust me. You’re as Johnny as Johnny gets, Pea.” Kevin encouraged. I wanted to kick him so badly at that moment. Did he seriously have to encourage Sweetpea? There had to be someone else… anyone else. Someone I didn’t have a massive crush on and yet also want to strangle.
I pretended to stick my finger down my throat and gag, as per usual when Sweetpea locked eyes with me again as he walked towards where I stood..
,, because God forbid you let him even get an ounce of suspicion that you have a crush on the guy.” my brain was at it again with the taunting. I pushed it all down deep and took a deep breath or two.
“You did this just to be an asshole.” I muttered.
“No, I did this because Kevin’s my friend. Not everything I do is about pissing you off, princess.” Sweetpea chuckled as he said it. Adding in a quieter tone, “Just because you’re Marlena Lodge… That doesn’t make everything about you.”
My jaw set and I glared up at him. Taking a deep breath or two. Reminding myself that despite Sweetpea now reading as Johnny Castle, I still loved this movie and I wanted our class’s play to be worth watching. That I couldn’t mess this up. I couldn’t let Sweetpea taunt and torment me into messing this up either.
I didn’t want to disappoint Kevin because he was one of my best friends. He was depending on me to at least try to do my best here.
Kevin gave the signal for us to start from the top of the scene.
I stepped closer. My body brushing against Sweetpea’s. Sweetpea mirrored this and grabbed hold of my arms, pulling them out in front of me just like Patrick Swayze did in the actual movie as he recited the line.
And the tone in his voice, oh my god.
“Look, spaghetti arms. This is my dance space. This is your dance space. I don't go into yours, you don't go into mine. You gotta hold the frame.”
I responded with my line. Stepping closer, even throwing in an accidental mis-step on the top of his foot on my own.
Kevin continued to sit, watching us rehearse. By the time we got to the scene where Johnny is telling Baby that he got fired, I could feel more people’s eyes on us. And I swallowed hard, trying not to focus on being watched and how that felt, but instead, on the script. On what I had to say and how I felt like it needed to come across.
And maybe, in my own mind, I was imagining how I’d act if I were in Baby’s shoes. Having just argued with my father about the guy I was in love with only to turn and find out that despite my own optimism at convincing the guy to do the right thing, nothing worked out the way I wanted at all.
Sweetpea must have caught on to my anxiety because he muttered quietly, “You good, princess?” as he covertly brushed his hand against mine. Clearing his throat to get my attention and keep me from getting nervous and blanking out or bolting off the stage.
I gazed up at him a second or two, finally nodding. Managing to ground myself somehow and I tried my best to convince myself it was not because Sweetpea’s fingers laced through mine. Almost as if he’d caught hold of my hand to keep me from leaving.
,, He’s just doing that because it’s in the script. You’re supposed to be having a heated discussion and you’re about to walk away upset. That’s the only reason he grabbed your hand. It has nothing to do with the fact that you kind of freaked out a little and lost your focus.” I reminded myself grimly as I caught up to where we were on the page and took a deep breath, preparing for my turn to speak.
As I delivered my next line, “So I did it for nothing.I hurt my family, you lost your job anyway-- I did it for nothing!” I wanted to disappear into the stage floor when my sister stood up in her chair, clapping and whistling. But the way I said it sounded so wistful. Disappointed and bitter. Like I was truly hurting.
Sweet Pea said his line. “No, no, not for nothin', Baby! Nobody has ever done anything like that for me before.” and I paused. Staring up at him. Blown away because he sounded so sincere too. Like for a second or two, this was really taking place and it wasn’t just some silly rehearsal. Like he meant what he was saying.
But I knew he didn’t. We tolerate each other at best. At our worst, we’re at each other’s throats constantly. Finding any and all excuses to rip into each other or push the other’s buttons. Because it’s just what we do.
But his tone. The look in his eyes when he delivered the line. The way his eyes fixed on me, searching. Waiting.
“It’s your turn, princess.. Cat got your tongue?” he muttered under his breath to draw me out of my own inner turmoil.
I took a deep breath and scanned the page. Finding my next line. “You were right, Johnny. You can't win no matter what you do!” and I could feel him staring as I said it. Biting his lip when I lazily punched at his chest because it felt like the right thing to do in the heat of the moment to show how upset the character was. I shook my head and dropped my eyes. “You were right.” I muttered in a quieter tone.
Sweetpea reached out, rough fingertips gripping my jawline. Guiding my eyes back up to meet his as he replied with the next line, “You listen to me. I don't wanna hear that from you. You can!”
And again, it sounded so real. Emotional. Like we were really having this argument. I was really getting into this. Probably a little too much for my own good. I sighed and shook my head sadly. Biting my lip as I stepped away a little and continued to shake my head, arguing back, “I used to think so.” and after a second or two, adding in a quieter tone, “Now I don’t know anymore.” even though it wasn’t in the script.
Sweetpea was staring at me. Thoughtful. Intent. Almost as if he were actually seeing me and not all the stupid things he’d written me off as from the word go on the first time we met. He cleared his throat and that shit-eating smirk was back again. “Not too bad, huh?”
“Jackass.” I muttered, mostly to myself. Still a little dazed.
Kevin called for a break and made his way over.
“Okay, we’re going to take this all the way from the beginning tomorrow. I wish I’d done this sooner. We’re going to have to practice the lift next. Because the lift is iconic. We have to pull that off or I’m gonna want to punch myself in the throat.” Kevin was excited, rambling away a mile a minute.
Sweetpea spoke up. “What about my part in the senior musical?”
“You can do both. We’ll move the junior musical to a different night. You have to do this. C’mon…”
Sweetpea grumbled and finally muttered with a shrug, “Okay, alright. Fine. Shit. I’ll do it. But I’m not wearing tights, are we clear?”
“You really haven’t seen the movie at all… have you?” I scoffed as I gazed up at Sweetpea. He mimicked me and shrugged. “I’ve seen bits of it. But I know one thing and that’s dancers wear tights. I’m not wearing tights. Not happenin.”
“For your information, you big idiot, Patrick Swayze does not wear tights a single time in this movie. At least not that I remember and I’ve seen it a thousand times... Suit and tie, maybe.”
Sweetpea grumbled and raised a brow.
“Not for the whole movie, damn it.. Black jeans and a black shirt will suffice for most of it. You can even wear your leather jacket, you big man-baby. Johnny Castle wears one in the movie.” I answered. Stepping closer to him to sort of get a visual read on his measurements so that when the time came I at least kind of had an idea of what worked. Sweetpea chuckled, dragging his fingers through his hair as he gazed down at me. “See something you like, princess?”
“I’m trying to figure out what I’m gonna need for your costume, dingus.” I replied as calmly as possible.
“Ya know, you could always just measure me… Right? Or ask me my size?”
“Oh you’d enjoy that entirely too much. And I’d have to touch you. No, nope. No thanks, I’ll pass.”
“I’m gonna have to touch you anyway. That lift or whatever it was that had Kevin rambling just now.” Sweetpea barely hid his amusement as he stepped even closer. A hand at my hip. Lingering.
For a second or two, I was lost in his eyes and totally oblivious to anything going on around us and then Kevin shattered that by starting the last song of the musical and calling for everyone to take their places.
And from the crowd, Fangs spoke up.
“Hey babe.. What if we got all the extras from the clubhouse scene to come in through the crowd? Just like the movie?” Fangs was smirking at both Sweetpea and I as he spoke up. Enjoying this entire situation way too much.
“Fangs, you brilliant and beautiful man, this is exactly why I love you so much.” Kevin smirked as he rubbed his chin and called out. “Okay, if you were an extra in the clubhouse scene, go to the doors of the auditorium. When Fangs gives the signal, you’ll come in. Dancing.”
He turned to Sweetpea. “You go with them.”
Sweetpea managed to break the staredown we had going on and he nodded. Grumbling as he walked towards the front of the auditorium.
Everything went pretty well until we got to the part where I was supposed to run to Sweetpea and he was supposed to lift me over his head. I took off, running towards him.
I missed the mark. Wound up with my legs wrapped around his waist, clinging for dear life while he staggered back just a little. Both of us arguing about whose fault it was that we messed up.
Kevin cleared his throat.
“You guys need more practice. Maybe you could rehearse together?”
Sweetpea and I glanced at each other, mulling it over.
“Fine.” Sweetpea ground out through a jaw tightly clenched. A glance at Fangs revealed that the reason he agreed without a huge fight was probably something to do with the way Fangs was giving him a demanding look.
“Fine.” I answered. Swallowing hard.
Trying to pull myself together because frankly, I was still all sorts of stirred up from the way he’d actually caught me and the fact that no, I hadn’t wanted him to put me back on my feet at the end, either.
I spoke up again. “We can do it at the bunker.” I suggested. Trying to think of a neutral place that didn’t favor either of us heavily. A place we could hopefully be alone and focus. And probably scream and shove and storm away to cool off if things got too heated.
“8 work for you or does daddy let you out past your bedtime, princess?” Sweetpea taunted, smirking at me when I glared and rolled my eyes.
“ I do what I want.” I scoffed at his parting jab.
From behind me, my sister spoke up. “Are you ready, Marlena?” as she looked back and forth between Sweetpea and I with an amused grin.
“Yeah. We need to get going.” I answered.
As my sister and I walked out of the auditorium, my sister gave a soft laugh. “That wasn’t so bad, huh? I knew you could do it.”
“Oh shut up.” I grumbled, managing a weak smile. “We haven’t made it to the night of yet. Don’t jinx this. Remember what happened last time I had to get up in front of people and talk in any capacity?”
“Marlena, that was kindergarten. Maybe it’ll be different.”
“Veronica, I threw up everywhere. And not gracefully, either. It was a full on projectile vomit.”
“That was something. The chemistry between you and Sweetpea in there. I felt like I was actually watching the movie.”
“He’s an ass. And he hates me, remember?”
“Yeah, well.. It didn’t look that way to me, Marlena. If he hated you, he wouldn’t have been standing so close the entire time… or the way he grabbed your hand?” my sister questioned.
I shrugged it off. “Can we change the subject?”
“Why? Afraid I might be right?” my sister teased, as usual.
TIME SKIP
“Okay, if he’s not here in ten minutes, I’m leaving. This place gives me the creeps.” I muttered to myself almost the exact second that I managed to find a spiderweb with my face and shriek about it.
Low chuckling from behind me had me turning. Finding myself body to body with Sweetpea as he tried not to laugh.
“Do you talk to yourself a lot or do I make you that nervous, princess?” he taunted. I gave a light shove and stepped away, pouting up at him. Quick to argue that he didn’t make me nervous, not at all, not even a little.
Despite knowing that the truth of the matter was yes. Yes, he made me extremely nervous. Because he was so distinctly my type and I just longed for what I knew wouldn’t ever work out between us because we were entirely too different.
“In other words, yes. I make you that nervous.” Sweetpea’s jaw set in a line and I flinched a little. Not wanting to fight with him.
I quickly changed the subject, nodding to a little tv and dvd player I’d rigged up earlier and the brown paper bags with Pop’s logo on the front.
“We need to rehearse. Not whatever this is.” Sweetpea was still irritated.
“Yes, well.. You’re never going to realize just how huge a part of the story Johnny Castle is until you’ve seen the movie.”
Sweetpea rubbed his chin in thought. “How long is this fucking movie?”
“Maybe two hours? C’mon… Or do you have a hot date waiting?” -the hint of jealousy that crept into my tone was enough to make me tense up a little. Pray to God he hadn’t picked up on it. Lucky for me, he didn’t seem to, instead, he was already digging into the grease stained paper bags, grabbing himself a burger and fries.
Sprawling on the little twin sized bed.
I dug out my own food and sat down, close to the edge of the bed, careful not to sit too close to him because I didn’t want to crowd him or annoy him or give him the wrong impression.. Or in my case, the right impression though I’d die before admitting that to him.
After hitting play on the DVD player, the opening title splashed across the screen and I smiled, settling into my chosen seat just a little more comfortably.
About thirty minutes into the movie, I could feel his eyes fixed on me. I turned to look back at him, a brow raised. “What?”
“You know every single line.”
I felt my cheeks burn a little, shrugging it off as I nodded. Answering through a mouth full, “When we were little.. Veronica and I used to watch this movie whenever it was raining or we were sick. We’d get cozy in one of our rooms with snacks and blankets and we’d just like… imagine life being that simple. Doesn’t help that Johnny Castle is - to quote my sister, “Totally your kind of man.” “ I gave a sheepish laugh and took a handful of my fries, raking them through my milkshake.
Sweetpea rose to sit. Leaning in a little. Extending his arm and wiping his thumb over the corner of his mouth as he cleared his throat. “You had some milkshake…” before falling silent all over again. Staring at me for seconds that seemed to stretch infinitely. It  felt like everything fell away. All that remained was that thick tension. The flickering of the candles I’d lit earlier against the wall. The tension got to me. It had everything I wanted to say but couldn’t find the nerve threatening to come out.
“I don’t bite, ya know.” he muttered quietly. Pulling away a little. That look in his eyes again.
It hit me. He honestly thought I disliked him. Or thought that I was better than him. Nothing could be further from the truth and realizing how he must have felt and what probably fuelled most of the comments and the arguments between us was the fact that he thought I viewed him as a lesser person somehow… that really got to me.
“I, uh.. I didn’t want to crowd you.” I managed to get the words out after a few seconds. Not daring to look at him. Desperate for a rewind button so maybe I could go back in time to when I first met him and salvage everything.
Desperate to tell him how I really felt.
Especially when I remembered what Veronica mentioned earlier about the way Josie just shut him out.
“Oh.”
The movie caught our attention again. After a minute or two of sitting poised right at the edge of the bed like I’d been and longing to really get comfortable, I settled in the sliver of space next to him. Trying not to think about the fact that the bed being as small as it was gave us literally no space and we were forced to touch.
Thirty minutes passed. Sweetpea sat up.
“ I think I get it now.” he muttered.
“Yeah?” I was getting lost in his eyes all over again.
“Mhm.” he affirmed.
I sat up and so did he. “It’s cheesy as hell, but… I get it. Kinda know how the guy feels.” Sweetpea’s gaze settled on his hands and he chuckled to himself, the sound almost bitter.
“I’m sorry. I heard about you and Josie breaking up.”
“We didn’t. You can’t break up with someone if they never wanted to be with you to begin with.” Sweetpea answered. He tensed up a little and I sighed. Wishing I hadn’t opened my mouth.
That tension between him and I doubled.
In an attempt to make things just a little lighter, I slipped off the bed. Held out my hand.
Sweetpea eyed it warily.
I insisted, “Oh come on, please? Just one dance. You did say we had to practice. And I dance, so I can definitely tell you that if we don’t at least somewhat connect, we’re going to be awkward and it’s going to look bad.”
Did I really just do that?
The scene where Baby goes to Johnny’s cabin and spends the night was just beginning and I swallowed hard as soon as I glanced back up at Sweetpea and realized that he was staring at the television in a daze. I cleared my throat to get his attention.
“You want me to dance with you.. Like that. Okay.” Sweetpea towered over me. Closing the space between our bodies before I had a chance to back out of what I asked of him. His hands went straight to my hips. Holding my body in place against his as he chuckled, looking down at me. “You’re the one who wanted to dance, princess.”
“Yeah.” I managed to stammer. Breathless. Helpless thanks to the way his fingers dug into my hips and held me against him. But when they started to move up and down my sides, oh… I felt myself shiver at the touch. Melting against him on my own. I’d been trying my best not to give in and do that.
I trained my eyes on the front of his plaid shirt because I didn’t dare look up at him.
His leg slipped between mine and I bit my lip. Breath catching in my throat all over again as I rubbed myself against his thigh. My usual careful, guarded filter was gone.
All I cared about was doing whatever I could to show Sweetpea that what he thought I felt towards him wasn’t true.
His hands settled across my ass. Fingers digging in as he gasped quietly. A groan slipping out as he muttered in a daze, “You really are a good dancer, huh?”
“I, uh… I compete. My parents are huge on pushing my sister and I into competitive activities, whether we want it or not.” I babbled.
It must have bothered him that I wasn’t looking at him because he gripped my jaw, guiding my gaze up. “But you like dancing. I can tell.”
,, maybe it’s just dancing like this with you.” the thought came. I stopped just shy of actually letting it slip out. I sighed and smiled, nodding in agreement. Because that was so much easier than everything else I wanted to do or say. ,, besides,” my brain continued to taunt, “why on Earth is he going to want you when he could have literally anyone else?” and the thought had me pouting a little.
I didn’t think he was aware of it.
“What?” he asked. Tensing a little. Loosening his grip on my body just a little bit. Seeming as if he wanted to step away from me. Before I had the chance to talk myself out of it, I melted against him all over again. Raising my arms to slip them around his neck.
“Nothing.” I answered after a few seconds.
“You were pouting again. That’s kind of a thing you do when you’re upset, you’re not getting your way or you’re annoyed.”
The fact that he picked up on that had me raising a brow. Scoffing. About to argue that I didn’t pout all the time, but keeping quiet because I knew he was right.
But how -and when, had he noticed?
“Dreading the fact that I’m going to get up there on stage and see everyone watching and I will panic.” I muttered quietly because a half truth was better than the whole truth or a complete lie.
If I told him the real reason I’d been pouting, well.. That would’ve opened up a can of worms that I’m not sure about opening. God I want to. But if I just lay it all on the line…
I can’t.
Sweetpea raised a brow. He started to say something but he went quiet on me. Thinking.
“But you’re so loud.” he finally spoke up.
I pouted up at him, giving his chest a light smack. “I ought to step on your foot, sir.”
“Won’t hurt. Boots are steel toe.” Sweetpea smirked as he said it. Sticking his tongue out at me.
He dipped me and I hadn’t been expecting it. I gasped and he chuckled. “Not so bad at this dancing shit, hmm?” he questioned as he pulled me back up. His hands moved up and down my back before settling on my ass again. Squeezing when I rocked myself over his thigh just a little before I could stop myself because what he was doing was getting me worked up.
I sighed a little. Melting all over at the way he touched me and held me. Admitting with a quiet laugh, “You’re actually not. And I can teach you more..” trailing off and going quiet.
“You can, huh?”
His voice was this perfect mix of gravel and silk and I had to clench my thighs just a little. Found myself praying to whatever God might exist that I didn’t get too excited and leave a wet spot behind on his jeans. Because that would definitely seal the embarrassment and awkwardness factor. And I didn’t want that.
I was staring intently at his chest again when he tucked his fingers beneath my chin and tilted my head. “Careful what you say, princess. I might actually take you seriously.”
“I’m being serious. I don’t mind at all.” I babbled and instantly, I wanted to punch myself in the throat for it. This awkward version of myself wasn’t me but for whatever reason, Sweetpea seemed to bring it out. All my insecurities seemed to come rushing to the surface. Taunting me with the knowledge that there was no way he’d ever be interested in me beyond the convenience of a good screw. Knowing that even if he were, something would go wrong somehow.
He dipped me again. This time when he pulled me back up, our faces bumped against each other and when my mouth brushed against his, I couldn’t stop the quiet gasp that came. His fingers dug into my body just a little more and we were staring at each other.
Dazed.
“Pea?”
“What’s up, princess?” he muttered after a second or two. Blinking as if he were trying to focus.
“Nothing.” I muttered. Losing my nerve and my train of thought. Pushing down everything I’d been about to say all over again.
“ Why do you do that? Just say whatever it is you want to say.”
“Oh, I don’t think you want me to do that.” I muttered, mostly to myself. My gaze trained on anything and everything but his. He guided my face up and licked his lips, his eyes darting down. Settling on my mouth. “What if I do?” he muttered in response after a few seconds.
“Okay, fine. I was wondering what..” I trailed off. Frustrated. Laughing at myself and shaking my head. “Forget it. It’s stupid.”
“Tell me, woman. Damn.” his tone was firm and I swallowed hard as I looked up at him.
He was going to keep at it until I said something and right now, I was drawing a blank on any other convenient things I could say that were less controversial than what I’d stopped myself from saying.
,, maybe if you say it, he’ll know that you don’t hate him.” the thought came.
I took a deep breath. Shaky.
“I was wondering what your kiss feels like.” I muttered, my voice dropping so low that for a second, I didn’t think he heard me.
His jaw dropped. One hand left my ass and raised. Dragging through thick dark hair as he tugged. His mouth opening and closing.
“What? You kept asking… I.. You don’t have to. I didn’t want to make it weird.” I babbled nervously. When he started to chuckle, I looked up at him with a brow raised. “Gee, thanks.” I pouted.
Stepping away. Because if I didn’t put some distance between us right then, I was going to keep digging the hole deeper.
He reached out and grabbed me by the hips, pulling me against him all over again. Rocking himself into me clumsily. His face inching closer and closer to my own. Our mouths were on a collision course and neither of us bothered to stop it from happening. His lips settled against the corner of my mouth clumsily. His tongue traced the outline of my lips and I shivered and melted against him like I’d been before. Clinging. My arms around his neck again. Fingers toying with the hair at the nape of his neck before settling my hand across to rest and pull his mouth back against mine.
My lips parted, granting him access. His tongue slipped past my lips and he melted into me this time. Deepening the kiss. Using his grip on my ass to pull me up his body slightly. I sighed as the kiss broke, my tongue rolling over kiss swollen lips. Staring at him as I tried to wrap my head around what just happened.
How badly I wanted it to happen again.
“Well?”
I bit my lip. Trying to formulate words. Anything. My brain must have short-circuited because I came up with nothing, despite all the opening and closing of my mouth as I attempted to answer.
I’m not sure what possessed me to do it or why I thought it was a good idea, but I was grabbing hold of the back of his neck. Pulling his mouth back against mine greedily. Taking total control of the kiss this time around. Making him chuckle into the kiss.
As we pulled apart to breathe, he repeated his question.
“Better than my wildest dreams.” I blurted out quietly.
“So you dream about kissing me?” he asked, tucking his fingers beneath my chin so that I couldn’t do what I tended to when a subject got to be too uncomfortable for me… I swallowed hard and admitted in a hushed tone, “Among other things.”
He growled out the word “Fuck.” and pulled me up his body completely. Deepening the kiss to a point where I almost forgot to breathe a time or two. I could feel myself getting light-headed. The kiss broke and we pulled apart, breathing heavily. I melted against him, dazed. Still trying to get my head around the turn the night had taken.
“It’s getting late, princess.”
“It is.”
“I should probably get you home.”
I pouted a little. Holding onto him just a little tighter. “Unfortunately.” I muttered.
He scooped me off the table and carried me out of the bunker. Sitting me on the back of his motorcycle. I wrapped my arms around him and leaned against his back, the Serpent patch scratching at my skin a little.
The drive back to the Pembrooke took almost no time and as soon as his motorcycle stopped at the curb, I pouted a little. Rolling my eyes at the literal ivory tower.
“I’ll see you tomorrow.” I asked as I slipped off the back of his motorcycle.
He grabbed hold of my hips, pulling me against him. Leaning down and stealing another deep kiss. “Mhm. Definitely, princess.”
I practically floated up the stairs leading into the lobby of the building. And I leaned against the wall, waiting on the elevator. Trying to pull myself together. Smiling like an idiot.

Skate Shop AU
I couldn’t sleep cause I’ve had this stuck in my head for 2 hours here
BC, Butch, and Boomer all work in a locally owned skate shop in downtown townsville
Boomer and Butch got the job together cause they found the ad and were like “oh hey we both skate- and we both need money- let’s do it”
Bubbles found the ad and showed BC and BC was like “yeah sure”
so anyways
they all got the job and when BC first met Boom and Butch she like lowkey hated them
she just thought they were annoying so she would avoid them at all times during shifts
until one day Boomer was like “yk what I wanna be friends with her” and forced Butch to help intercept her while she was trying to get as far away from them as possible
long story short Boomer somehow charmed his way into her not totally hating him and Butch, by association, became her friend as well
at some point Bubbles decided that she wanted to see what Buttercups job was like so she came to the shop
she saw Boomer and was like “ah yes, I’m staying.”
and now that’s Buttercups life
Bubbles is like a 4th worker who doesn’t know anything about the job and doesn’t get payed
she just shows all the costumers the stuff she thinks is pretty and whatever “matches their vibe”
“you have a dark academia care bear vibe going on, I know exactly what you should get. come with me” “but I’m just here for new grip ta-“ “-coME WITH ME”
Buttercup gave up a long time ago on trying to stop her
Butch and BC were still on the fence about each other even after the Boomer-forces-a-friendship-moment until the day that they both decided to stay after their shifts to clean
don’t ask me why they decided to do that just go with it
BC puts her earbuds in and BLASTS music and Butch gets curious so he asks what she’s playing
turns out they have the same taste in music
she unplugs the earbuds and they have a mini two person dance party to the low quality sound bass of Buttercup’s speakers
from that point on their friendship was no longer just by work association
we will be adding some reds in here for the hell of it
Blossom and Brick run into each other at the shop on the same day
Blossom was there cause she was around the area and decided to check on her sisters
Brick was there cause Butch’s car broke down so he had to give it a jump start
que the ~instant hatred for one another~
it changes pretty quickly but let’s just say Blossom doesn’t appreciate loud arrogant men bursting into a public place of business and yelling for his brother’s to “get their asses out here so he can go the fuck home”
Brick doesn’t appreciate people getting in his business
and as they fight Butch,Buttercup, Bubbles, and Boomer are staring at each other like
“so... that’s your brother”
“yeah...and that’s your sister?”
“mhm.”
“well... I’m sure they’ll warm (badum chh) up to each other eventually
(they do. it just takes some effort)
Boomer is a vegan. bye.
BUTCH WEARS STRICTLY CROP TOPS
at one point Mitch came into the store (for context Mitch is gay and he and BC are really close) for a new board so BC went to help him
and as she and Mitch were talking, across the room Butch had a d e a t h grip on the counter while he was glaring daggers
Boomer noticed and kinda looked at him like “😐🙄👀😏”
which sparked a hushed conversation of Boomer trying to get him to admit he likes BC
he finally does and Boomer tells him that Mitch is very much BC’s platonic friend and very much not attracted to women
Butch calms down but now he has to deal with the realization that he does, in fact, have a thing for BC
Boomer started crushing on Bubbles and unlike his sibling(s), he didn’t try to deny his feelings and asked her out as soon as he could
she said yes, their first date was skating (did i mention Bubbles roller blades? no? well. that’s a thing. my girl is apart of a roller durby team) through the park
it was very cute 10/10
and now Boomer and Bubbles are just kinda placing bets with each other on who will get together first, the reds or the greens
they also both agreed that when (not if, no they KNOW it’s just a matter of time) the greens get together BC *will* be the one to confess first
anyways
BC is a graffiti artist and her boss gave her permission to make the front sign which 100% drew in so many more costumers
Butch, Boomer, and even Brick are all star struck at her work
random but Butch plays the piano in this AU
idk why but it just came to mind and now I’m never letting that go, I will die on this hill #pianoplayerButchsupremacy
when BC finds out he plays she spends 2 weeks trying to convince him to play Piano Man for her
he gives in and finally plays it, and that’s the moment she realizes her feelings for him
one day later, Bubbles won the bet between her and Boomer. the greens are officially an item
and yes, they were right, BC did ask him out first
anyways that’s probably all for now, I wrote half of this at 3am last night and the other half just now so sorry if this is a mess. I still want to explain the reds arc for this AU but I’m tired so I’ll do it later. hope you enjoyed :))

Chromeskull falling for the reader whose a Burlesque Dancer who wears a revealing Bride of Frankenstein costume that shows off childhood scars that have tattoos to look like stitches over them.
Chromeskull x Reader- Freakish Proposition
Tumblr media
Authors Note: Writing again for my 6′7 tall husband....and also trying to get back into the writing game more.
Warning: None
Words: 2.1k
Jesse Cromeans was an extrovert by any means and the nature of his business got him into all type of places, especially exclusive clubs varying from classy snobby ones to stripper nightclubs to the more unusual ones, so no wonder that Halloween was to be spent into a night of fine alcohol and possibly some piggy hunting into these nightclubs.
Halloween meant that he could be more of Chromeskull and less Jesse Cromeans, wearing the chromed skull mask was giving him a boost of power and confidence, not like he really needed it, but for Jesse there was never enough, call him a greedy bastard, but that's how you get successful and respected into the world of the rich and nasty.
Humans were like animals in Jesse's opinion, even him, but here depends on what animal you are according to the food chain, and Jesse was definitely an apex predator and what does a predator do? Stalk piggies and tear them apart, limb by limb.
Nightclubs were the perfect environment for piggies, especially the exclusive ones because all piggies had to do to get a free ticket inside was flash some skin, push their chest out, and bat their eyelashes, looking for a fat walking wallet full of money to support their needs. They didn't care who it was as long as they were buying the piggy the last Gucci purse and gifted them a Porsche for their birthday.
It was the cruel reality of what relationships were like nowadays; there was no such thing as love, it was all business under the facade of sweet-talking and arms holding. Jesse didn't mind cruelty, it was one of his top characteristics, one that gained him his status in society; no wonder men wanted to be in his Oxford shoes and women to choke on his cock in an attempt to get a fancy dinner and a bottle of Moet.
He loved the dim-lit nightclubs, he was accustomed to the eerie vibe it gave, after all, the most interesting part of his life happened at night, and the fact that everyone's attention was pulled on the highlighted stage gave him the opportunity to observe more; more piggies to kill and from the audience sitting at the tables, close to the old geezers, he had plenty to choose from.
The show was about to start in 15 minutes, so he took his time, a waitress coming to deliver a bottle of Lagavulin, a whiskey glass, and a small bucket of ice. She poured Jesse the expensive liquor into the crystal glass, adding two cubs of ice, and he was more than amused when she tried to flash him a view of her cleavage; desperate piggy.
He could see from behind the mask how the other piggies observed; they were predators too in a way, but cheaper ones, their eyes always scanning what the men ordered because that showed how much money they had.
You don't just simply go to a man who orders one glass of cheap vodka over one who had a whole bottle of a 16-year-old fine whiskey.
Tattooed hands pulled the chromed mask off, and from the corner of his eyes, he could read the disgust on the piggies across the room as they took in his scarred face. He got used to such reactions, but flash a stack of money in their faces and the botoxed bimbos will be on their knees, worshipping his cock.
Jesse wondered how their lips would look cut off and showed up their loose cunts, while their eyes would be filled with tears, blood pouring out of each cut on their caked up skin, each cut deeper than the last.
He was pulled out of his sadistic daydream by a voice announcing that the show will start in 10 seconds and a chorus of applause followed as the red curtain drapes moved to each side, the slow jazz music started as did the girls on the stage started their dancing.
One girl, in particular, pulled on Jesse's attention, unlike the other females, her attire and make-up were different, declaring that she was the lead one, and his assumptions were approved as she started to sing, or better said, you started to sing, the slow beat of the music picking up speed as did the sensual moves.
Unlike the other dancers who wore white, your attire was as black as night, with lace details, a tight corset that made the bald man feel jealous. Most would say that your outfit was skimpy, but that's how the burlesque dancers were supposed to be dressed; sexy, sensual, and very appealing to the eye, and God how much you caught Mr. Cromeans brown eye.
Not only were you a vixen in black lace, but also very adorable, your smile and sparkling eyes showing that you were genuine having the time of your life. Jesse is a very observant man and couldn't ignore the tattoo sleeves down your arms; red and black roses are adorned by delicate barbed wire representing stitches.
If Jesse knew something very well, it was the ink on the skin and could identify scars under the intricate designs, and sure as hell, you were hiding quite a lot for such a delicate, little thing; well, everything was little compared to his intimidating height. It was very unusual to see scars nowadays on women; maybe you had a toxic and abusive relationship, maybe a destructive childhood?
He was getting curious and not even the depraved looks from the piggies around him got his attention, and that said something because he wasn't on to pass up the opportunity to slaughter some beef. He was more interested in the little ghoul on the stage; you finished your performance and bowed with a grin, waving around, the audience clapping and some wolf-whistling, the scarlet curtain falling down and hiding the stage.
Taking one sip of his whiskey, he saw you march up to the bar in a happy skip like you didn't have a care in the whole world. He snapped his fingers and motioned for the waitress to come to him which she happily did.
"What can I do for you, Sir?" she asked, batting her eyelashes, not at all impressing Jesse.
'Her. Tell her to come over here.' he typed on the phone then showed the waitress, who dropped her sugar-sweet attitude and rolled her eyes.
Note: Hang the waitress by her guts later.
You were ready to get a drink for yourself too after the performance, but someone tapped you on the shoulder. Turning around you saw it was Tina, who had a scowl on her face.
"That bald guy over there wants to talk with you." she told you, then just like that left. You furrowed your eyebrows and finally, your gaze landed on the said man, who motioned for you with a curled finger to come to him.
Curiosity took over you and you moved over to him.
"Yes? May I help you?" you asked and you noticed that he was typing on the phone, then an electronic voice startled you.
'Sit down. I could use some company.'
Well, that certainly took you by surprise; one that he wanted your company when he could get any waitress or glamorous trophy girl from this nightclub, and two...He was mute....That or either he was some weirdo who hated to talk.
You did as he wanted, taking a seat across from him, looking down at your hands, not knowing exactly what to discuss with him, not to mention he didn't even tell you his name, so you decided to start with that, introducing yourself.
'Jesse Cromeans, a pleasure to meet you, little ghoul.' you really needed to get used to that spooky electronic voice from his phone.
"Actually, I was supposed to be Frankensteins Bride, but it turned out to be more of a ghoul." you said with a nervous chuckle, which he returned with a smirk, one that seemed to suit him, despite the scars he had, he was...unique; not necessarily handsome or drop-dead beautiful, but he had that specific charisma that drew people in like an aphrodisiac.
'And where is your Frankenstein?' You had to stifle a laugh at his humorous question, so might as feel continue to entertain him.
"Probably in a coffin." you answered, making Jesse's smirk devilish so like you said something very appealing and familiar.
"Seriously, no. No undead husband or boyfriend." you said, licking your dry lips. You really needed a drink and like Jesse could read body language he called upon the waitress again, and you ordered your favorite.
'White Russian? I pictured you more of a Bloody Mary.'
Again, you smiled and laughed.
"Not a fan of tomato juice. If I had to choose a red drink, maybe cherry or strawberry." you responded.
Although your answers seemed all casual and not even flirty, to Jesse they triggered the killer side, because when you're a very sleek serial killer like Chromeskull, you got a dark sense of humor.
'Performing again next weekend?'
"No. This was just a one-time thing, I'm not exactly a showgirl and if I'm gonna be honest the only reason I was so relaxed was because of the make-up that made me look like a monster girl." you answered, taking a sip of your drink.
'If not a showgirl, then what?'
Jesse was simply curious; if she wasn't a performer here then with what was she filling her time, what did she worked as?
"I am studying medicine, but it's not exactly the path I've wanted." you said with a sigh, your cheerful mood dropping.
'Interesting. The medicine you say? And why did you choose it if you don't like it?'
"No, no! I like...well, liked it, but let's say it's not cheap to stay for so many years in college and I don't wanna burden my parents with the taxes that are way out of their limit."
A good-hearted piggy? That was something new.
'How did you managed to get so far if you say the taxes are way over your budget?'
He was pretty much dissecting her, he wanted to know more; and it wouldn't really surprise him if she said that she did unorthodox things for money, most girls in college do.
"Well, when I finished high-school I went to military school and went for two years in Afganistan, but you know...not the perfect environment for a small girl like me so I came back to try something else. I chose medicine, I was really curious about it, and with the money from the military years, I managed to pay my taxes until now.
Military? That would explain the scars, you don't need to be a detective to put the pieces together.
'Now?'
"Now? I work three jobs; at a library, as a waitress for a kids' restaurant, and recently here, but I think I'm gonna pass....Skimpy clothes aren't my cup of tea." you said, pulling out a pack of cigarettes, putting one between red-painted lips, only to be snatched away by Jesse.
You looked at him with a dumbfounded look.
'Talk. Smoking later.'
You sighed, not in the mood to make a scene over a cigarette, plus he seemed like the type who will have his way no matter what.
"What else do you want to know?"
'Amuse me.'
You snorted at that.
"What do you want me to juggle with knives?" you asked in a sassy tone.
Oh, piggy....That would definitely be entertaining.
'I have a proposition for you. If it's really your dream to be a surgeon and dissect people, I can help you get through with taxes.'
"I'm not a prostitute, jerk." you quickly said, probably it was a bit rude, and in other circumstances, Jesse would have bend over the said person and decapitate said piggy, but he was more amused and gave you a silent laugh.
'As much as tempting that sounds, no. I can help you pay the taxes; I can offer you a decent job that won't involve parading for old geezers...but if you want to spice things up I won't deny it.'
Was he really hitting on you?
"I didn't picture you for a philantroph." you responded, earning an arrogant smirk from Jesse, who lightened up the cigarette that he snatched from you, blowing a cloud of smoke in your direction.
'I can be many things, sugar....What do you say?'
Debating a little and looking down at your remaining drink in hand, you chose.
"I'm listening."
'Sweet. I knew you would see things my way.'

i walked into the room and huffed as i took my seat, reaching into my bag for my notebook and a pen. i hated having a 9am again and missed being able to sleep-in like i did last semester. this was the first day though and i was hopeful my mind would change about it as the course went on. it probably wouldnt though. i sat there, catching a few more students walk in as i looked down at my phone.
nothing was too exciting yet and the teacher hadnt even shown up. i was more-so ready for the new art class though. it was my major after all and i was pretty well known by the professors at this point. as i sat there, a loud clatter grabbed my attention, making me look to my right. there was sat a shorter, skinny kid, with long inky black hair tucked under a beanie. my eyes went wide as he cracked the monster in his hand open, pouring it into his half=full trenta cup from Starbucks. he looked over at me and smiled.
"im going to die."
he said in the most sure-fire tone before putting the lid back on the cup and chugging it. i sat there in horror staring at him.
"are you okay?"
i asked and he shrugged, looking at me over the top of the cup. he had the bluest eyes i had ever seen, even in the low light of the art room. i was a little start struck for a second before shaking myself out of my daze, watching him put the cup down against the desk with a thud.
"if i pass out during class just push me out of the way and ill figure something out later."
he said, turning forward. i went to say something just as the teacher walked in.
"y/n! good to see you back. we missed you last semester."
professor crane said, looking to the student teacher as he ducked behind him and paced quickly to the front desk. his gaze followed him too before he shrugged and turned back to me with a smile.
"whatever, im sure he missed you too. but either way its good to have you back in class and i look forward to seeing what you come up with for the showcase in march."
i nodded with a smile before he walked away to the front of the class, instructing everyone to take their seats.
"you come here often?"
i heard from the kid next to me, hearing him laugh to himself as he took another drink of his coffee/monster concoction.
"yes, actually. im an art major."
i said a little dumbfounded. he nodded.
"cool, im here for film."
i drew my brows.
"youre doing film?"
i asked and he winked at me, looking to Brian as he turned the projector on. i opened my mouth before closing it quickly, feeling a little more confused than before.
"alright, first things first. i only make a syllabus because administration says i have to. the schedule is shit and we will most likely be doing something completely different so i suggest you keep a planner or something to keep track of your assignments. secondly, i will get to it later but i want you to start thinking about your projects for the spring showcase in march. we have a few short months so after you learn the basics of form you will be instructed to sketch something in your own style and present it to the board."
my mind went in and out after that, trying to catch quick glances at the kid next to me without being suspicious. every time he moved i could feel my heart pulse, giving me anxiety that he could actually pass out or something.
"y/n, your partner for this project will be mr olson."
brian said, standing over me and looking between the two of us. i nodded with wide eyes as he moved to the two kids behind us.
"guess that means we have pretty high chances at getting an A."
he said, raising his cup in cheers. i looked down at the assignment sheet, grazing over it and groaning. we had to come up with a comic strip in different style parts; the first panel a base sketch, the second panel a hard sketch, the third panel color blocking, and so on. god this was gonna be a nightmare.
"you dont seem too enthused."
the kid said amused. i sent him a testing look.
"im not, ive done something similar before and you have to get every step just right or they take points off. and we have to prove what parts we did."
i said, rolling my eyes. i looked over to him, blinking as a camera flash went off. i drew my brows as he looked down at the screen on it.
"where did you even get that?"
i asked, trying to inspect him. he sent me a smile.
"i always keep it on me. im ricky by the way, and you look great."
he said amused and i breathed deeply.
"y/n."
i said, looking back to the paper.
"well y/n i think this is going to be a great partnership-"
"alright!"
brian called, cutting him off.
"you have your assignments. i have nothing else for you today so you are welcome to either stay here and work until class time is over or you can leave and work on it on your own time. i dont really care either way, just get it done."
i hummed to myself before stuffing my notebook and the assignment sheet into my bag and standing up. i caught a glimpse of ricky starting at me with wide eyes as i turned to leave.
"what are you doing?"
he asked and i looked between him and the door, pointing at it.
"leaving, its not due for another week."
i started off, hearing him shuffle around before chasing after me.
"hey wait! cant we like plan what we're doing or something?"
he asked and i shrugged, looking over to him as he tried to put his paper in his backpack and hold the camera and cup of coffee. i stopped, staring at him as he struggled. i rolled my eyes, taking the cup and the camera from him. he looked to me in shock and i raised my brows.
"get to it, i dont have all day."
i said and he finished what he was doing, zipping his bag up and slinging it over it shoulder. i handed him the cup and camera back and kept walking.
"so uh, what kind of thing did you have in mind for this project?"
he asked and i looked to the sky, squinting but trying to think as we made it outside.
"i dont know, maybe a ball of some kind?"
he raised a brow, shuffling his feet as he tried to keep up with my long strides.
"like masks and large dresses?"
he asked and i nodded, opening the door to dinging hall.
"something like that yeah."
he nodded as i led us to a table.
"that sounds cool, i could get behind that."
i sent him a knowing look.
"you seem like the kind of guy who would."
i said, pulling my sketchpad out. he raised a brow, sitting beside me.
"whats that supposed to mean?"
he asked and i sent him  a look.
"im assuming you like vampires, and the Edwardian thing usually goes hand in hand with that."
he sent me a nervous smile.
"is it that obvious?"
he asked, rubbing his hands against his pants. i nodded.
"thats okay though, cause i like them too. so much so that i have costumes already, we can pose for each other. i think youd look great in this."
i said, sliding my phone across the table to show him the outfit i had for it. i just hoped it would fit him.
"you seem like youve been planning this for a while."
he said through a laugh and i shrugged.
"i just like to feel fancy, the projects on the other hand kind of fall into my lap."
i said, flipping through a few pages in my book. he placed his hand on one before taking it from me and looking over it.
"this looks insane."
he said and i looked around awkwardly.
"in a good way?"
i asked, finding his gaze.
"oh! yeah! of course in a good way. it looks super cool. i see why you wanted to do the ball thing now."
he commented, noting the sketch i had done already that was similar. it is what i was used to after all. he set the book back down in front of me and sent me a wide smile, picking his camera up and taking another picture of me.
"why do you do that?"
i asked and he laughed.
"i need models for my art and i think now that we've met you would be a great subject."
i set him a look, trying to hide the blush creeping its way up my neck.
"you really think so?"
i asked bashfully and he nodded.
"oh yeah, absolutely. and now that we're partners i think it will give me ample opportunity to find a new muse. you wanna be a subject for a music video?"
i sat back, a little taken aback.
"you want me to do what?"
i asked and he laughed, putting the camera on the table.
"in about a month my band is gonna need some girls for a video but its cool if not. i can live with us just being art project partners."
i cleared my throat, rubbing my hands together under the table.
"how about we get through this first and ill get back to you on that?"
he smiled knowingly at me, raising his coffee to me in cheers.
"sounds like a plan to me."

the story of last october (peter parker x reader)
Tumblr media
ahh thank you for the peter parker request, i love writing for him!!
word count: 2.0k
october 1st, current day
“Happy October First!”
I jumped from where I stood looking for my books, turning around to find an overly excited Peter Parker standing behind me with his goofy smile.
“Don’t scare me like that Parker,” I lightly punched his shoulder, smiling at him while I turned back to look through my locker. I saw him lean against the locker beside mine, feeling him tug on the end of my sweater lightly.
“Sorry just excited it’s October,” he spoke softly, his eyes watching me burn into the side of my head.
“Why? I thought you were more of a Christmas guy?” I pulled my Physics book that I had been searching for from my locker, pleased as I stuffed it in my already heavy bag.
“Don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas-” without a word he took my bag from my hand, throwing it over his shoulder with ease and I was pleased with his spider skills for I didn’t want to carry that all the way to Peter apartment.
“-but October has a special place in my heart.”
I smiled, following him out the door of Midtown as the crisp air fanned over my face.
“Why is that Parker?”
“Because we fell in love in October,” he shrugged, his smile breathtaking as he took the steps down the front of the school two at a time.
I smiled to myself, letting the chaos of Peter asking me out last October flood my senses.
october 25th, last year
“Did you hear Flash is throwing a Halloween party tonight?”
I nodded as Ned spoke, completely zoned out by the giant C scribble on-top my Computer Science paper.
“Yeah I had that weird invitation stuff in my locker,” MJ voice spoke this time but I was too into my paper that I couldn’t pay attention to what anyone was saying barely.
“Well maybe we should go, I have this awesome costume I wanna show off,” I think Ned spoke again, at least the verbiage sounded like Ned.
We finally all pushed through the doors of the school as we made our way to a pizza shop we normally all sat at after school for some time to ourselves. I felt two hands grab my shoulders, helping down the stairs as my eyes were trained on the paper.
“You know, a C isn’t the end of the world,” Peter whispered. It was too close to my ear for me not to get butterflies.
“Say you,” I spoke mostly to myself, still upset over the C no matter how close Peter was to me at the moment.
“Yes, says me,” I watched the paper vanish from my hands, my mouth falling open as I turned to Peter and reached for it. He was quick. dodging my hands as I jumped for it.
“Peter!”
I felt like a little kid begging for a toy, pouting as I jumped for the paper but he easily moved it again, causing my chest to collide with his own.
“Nope, you need to stop freaking out over a C.”
I let a breath out, looking up to a red-cheeked Peter before turning around and catching up with MJ and Ned.
“I can’t stand you, Parker,” I muttered as he jogged to my side, a little smile as he shoved the paper in his book bag.
“Anyways, you both are coming to the party?” Ned skipped slightly, giving those puppy eyes that nobody could say no to.
“Sure,” Peter shrugged, unbothered by the thought.
“I don’t know, I probably need to-”
“If you say study I’ll drag you from your window to this party.”
“Jokes on you, I live on the 10th floor,” I smiled, doing a quick jog to grab the door of the pizza shop for the rest of the group. I waited to see if he’d slip up, tell me something I already knew but he didn’t.
“Trust me, I’ll still do it,” he walked through the door, taking a seat at a random table as MJ and Ned talked to each other about something that made Ned giggle.
“You both fight like you're in a five-year relationship,” MJ commented as I joined the group at the booth. I closed my eyes out of embarrassment, sacred I might be blowing my cover right now.
“(Y/N), you’re coming to the party?”
I looked to Peter who played with his fingers while his eyes were trained on the red glossy table of the pizza shop.
“Fine, I’ll go.”
The day felt as if it faded away as I placed the old cowboy hat on my head and began my subway ride to Flash house. The old costume was a group costume between Peter, Ned, and I last year but I didn’t care if I’d worn it before.
I was gonna go for five minutes, maybe ten, and head home to study for Computer Science. I regretted even coming when I was the crazy lights flashing outside the house. I could hear the music loud and I felt the headache forming already.
“I can’t stand you, Parker,” I spoke into the air, pushing open the door to the party. Thankful Flash wasn’t at the door so I didn’t have to deal with that first thing.
“(Y/N),” I turned at the call of my name, MJ standing not far from the door giving me a light smile. She wore a white shirt that read “Error 404″ and a pair of her everyday jeans.
“Well isn’t this last minute,” I smiled as I joined her side, looking into her red cup to see a clear liquid.
“Eh, I think it’s kinda funny,” MJ shrugged, smiling at me before her eyes drifted to the door that I had just walked in. His shoulder crashed into mine, her finger-pointing. I stopped picking around the grapes on the table to see whatever she was pointing at.
I looked, my jaw hung open as I looked at Peter and Ned's costume. Ned wore an almost exact replica of Spider-Man suit, a proud smile on his face as he made it over to us. I wondered if Ned knew of Peter's little secret but I didn’t let the thought consume me as I took in Peter. Peter on the other hand wore the cowboy costume for last year, his jaw hung open as he looked me up and down in the same costume.
“You read my mind Parker,” I laughed as he made his way over to me, smiling at me with his arm held out for me.
“I thought you were more creative than this.”
I chucked, giving him a tight hug as he wrapped his arms around my back.
“Oh god, I didn’t know you were both together.”
I slightly drew back from Peter, looking at Flash who was pointing at Peter and I with a crazy smile. Peter and I both frown, opening our mouth to speak but it was too late.
“Hey everybody, Parker dating (L/N)!”
His voice echoed off the walls of the large house, I was shocked his voice could be so much louder than the music but it managed to get over half the people's eyes on us. I felt myself drawback more, suddenly insecure of everyone watching Peter and I.
“Flash, no-”
“You have a couple costume and everything,” he walked closer to me and tapped the hat that sat on my head with a little “yeehaw” falling from his lips.
“Flash- '' Peter was cut off by Flash shushing him, giving a little smile before patting his shoulder and leaving to join the rest of the party. I felt my jaw drop, looking over my shoulder at Ned and MJ who found this whole thing funny.
“I- we aren’t-”
I was so glad for the flashing light so Peter couldn’t see my embarrassed face as clear as I looked around the party.
I looked at him wide-eyed, hoping this was a prank or he would say something that would make this less embarrassing. He only shrugged, looking around the party before his lips were beside my ear whispering.
“I think everyone has already forgotten.”
I nodded, praying he was right as I joined MJ side and went back to before.
I didn’t pray hard enough, the entire night people walked up to Peter and gave us thumbs-ups and “I didn’t know”. The guy who asked me out last week even came up and apologized for not knowing, which caused Peter to drag me off another direction. Eventually, an hour had passed and I felt my eyes slowly grow tired.
“Guys, I’m heading home,” I waved to each member of our group, Ned pushing Peter in my direction as he ran to my side.
“Can I walk you home?”
I shrugged, heading for the front door as Peter kept pace with me easily.
“Sorry about back there,” Peter spoke at a lower volume once we made it out of the chaos of the party.
“Not your fault, Flash doesn’t like to listen.”
I tried to ignore the little heartbreak I felt as he apologized for fake being with me when it wasn’t even either of our doing.
“Yeah but, I don’t I guess I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable.”
I frown, stopping my walk down the driveway to turn to Peter. I felt my eyebrows draw together, looking to the boy who made a wide-eyed look at me.
“Uncomfortable? Why would I be uncomfortable?”
“Well you know, at the thought of dating me,” I watched as he spoke the words so easily like it wasn’t the craziest thing in the world.
“You think that would make me uncomfortable?”
“I mean, yeah.”
Normally I would be adoring his accent but I simply brush off the thought, completely absorbed in proving him wrong.
“Peter, that thought has never made me uncomfortable.”
This time his eyebrows were drawing together as my hand slowly made its way to cover my mouth.
“You’ve thought about it before?”
Would making a run for it be appropriate right now?
“I know you’re Spider-Man!”
Whatever was appropriate at this time definitely wasn’t that.
“W-what?”
“I know you’re Spider-Man,” I spoke much quieter this time, careful of listening ears.
“H-how do you know? Did Ned tell you?”
I suddenly felt my hand drop, looking at Peter who now covered his own mouth.
“You told Ned and not me?”
Maybe I was being overdramatic but I felt my heart hurt slightly because Peter, Ned, and I told each other everything yet he couldn’t tell me the biggest secret of his life.
“I- he walked in when I was in my suit. I shouldn’t have even told me but he saw,” his hands were going crazy as he spoke, his eyes wide as ever as he tried to save himself from the hole he was digging.
“You kept the biggest secret from me?”
“Well I wouldn’t say it’s as big as my crush-” he slapped his hand over his mouth, his other hand covering the hand that harshly slapped his skin.
I felt my eyebrows fly to my hairline, shocked at the new information. Peter Parker had a crush and a super-suit and told me about neither.
“No offenses but that definitely isn’t bigger.”
“It is when it’s you (Y/N),” Peter's words were muffled but still clear enough to understand as he spoke between his fingers. For what felt to be the millionth time that night I was in shock over something to do with Peter Parker.
“You like me back?”
I couldn’t even care at the moment when his hands slowly fell from his mouth, his jaw slack as he stared at me.
“Back?”
Without another word I rushed to meet his lips, my hand finding the back of his neck as I pulled him close as I could. My other hand traced over his chest, his heartbeat under my fingertips as his hands both cupped my cheeks.
october 1st, current day
“Sweets?”
I snapped out my daydream, smiling as Peter grabbed my hand and pulled me down the steps of the school, where the story first began.
“Hey, Parker?”
“Yes?”
“Happy October 1st.”

Birds of a Feather
Tumblr media
Request: Heey. I don't know if you're into MBTI but I really think ashton is an ENFJ and I know that I'm an ENFP and I would be incredibly happy if you could write something with that 💕
Word count: 2.8k
And away, and away we go!
__
I blew into my hands before rubbing them fiercely together as we walked along the crowded city sidewalk, my breath visible in the frigid air. I gave them a quick shake, flexing the numbness out of my fingers before shoving them in my jacket pockets and taking a few longer strides to keep up with my friends. Britt’s laugh was ringing off the buildings as she clung on to Luke’s arm, his own arm steady around her waist. A pace behind them was Michael and Crystal, their gloved pinkies interlocked as they walked. And bringing up the rear was Calum, and, of course, me. “So how long is this play?” Calum piped up loud enough for Britt to hear him.
“Uh… Y/N said it was like 2 hours I think? Plus the intermission. Why?” she asked, turning to look over her shoulder at the man.
“Just curious,” Calum grinned. When Britt turned back around, he glanced over at me and rolled his eyes. “Two fuckin’ hours? Seriously? Our one night off? In New fuckin’ York. And we’re spending it watching a play? Fuck…”
If he was looking for sympathy about basically being a fifth wheel on group date night, Calum had another thing coming. “It’s a musical, not a play, Cal,” I said, nudging his shoulder with mine.
“There’s a difference?”
“Yeah. Musicals have singing. That’s why they’re called musicals.”
Calum rolled his eyes again, letting out a small snort of laughter. “Genius, mate. MuSiCaLs HaVe SiNgInG,” he mocked.
I laughed with him. “Aw, c’mon Cal. It’s fuckin’ Broadway! Can’t go to New York, and not see a show.”
“Uh… yes we can. We do it all the time.”
“You fuckers gonna hurry up before or after I freeze to death?” Michael asked. Crystal was huddled into his side. Beside them, Britt and Luke were hugging each other with Britt’s arms looped through Luke’s jacket as he sheltered her from the cold.
I swallowed the pang of envy I felt at my friends’ relationships, and flashed a smile. “Yeah, let’s do this.”
“Wake me up at intermission,” Calum said, feigning a yawn and stretching his arms up over his head.
Luke punched him.
“Ow!” Calum winced, hitting Luke back. “The fuck was that for?”
Luke shot a glance over at Britt who had turned to get our tickets from will call, her shoulders slightly hunched. “Britt hasn’t seen Y/N in months, and she’s really excited about this. I guess it’s like a really big deal for her friend, plus she misses her. Don’t fuckin’ ruin this for me just cause you’d rather be at some club.”
“Plus, this musical is supposed to be really good,” Crystal put in.
“They made it a movie, yeah?” Michael asked.
“I think so,” I answered. “With… what’s her name…” I snapped my fingers and my mind fumbled for the name. “Anna Kendrick! That’s it. It’s a movie with Anna Kendrick in it.”
“That’s who Y/N’s playing!” Britt’s voice piped up as she started to hand us our tickets.
“She’s playing Anna Kendrick?” Calum asked stupidly.
“No, she’s playing Anna Kendrick’s character. Which happens to be the lead,” Britt explained, her pride in her old friend evident in how bright her voice was growing. “She’s so amazing, you guys are gonna love her. And the show!”
We all murmured in answer as we made our way inside the theater. Calum thumbed through the playbill ushers were handing out. “You said she’s the lead?” he asked.
“Yep!”
“Hmm… interesting,” he muttered under his breath, still looking at the page.
I thumbed through the little booklet myself, figuring out what was just so interesting about this to Calum. “There’s only 2 roles…” I murmured back.
“How great of an actress can Britt’s friend be to get a lead where it’s literally the only option?” Calum continued to whisper so only I heard him, still hopeful I’d take his side of being bitter about tonight’s activity, but I still wasn’t accepting his pity party invitation.
“Probably really fuckin’ good to get the only female role,” I whispered back with a grin.
The brown eyes rolled as he plopped down in his chair, crossing his arms over his chest. “Sometimes you’re too optimistic for your own good, you know that? Happy about playing fifth wheel…”
“We’re the fifth and sixth wheel regardless of what we do, Cal,” I told him, taking the seat next to him.
“Yeah, but at least at a club, I can get me a seventh wheel, if you know what I mean.”
“We go to clubs all the time, Cal. One night isn’t gonna kill us. Plus we’re being supportive of Britt’s friend, isn’t that right, guys?”
“Right!” they all chorused, Luke shooting Calum another sharp look.
Calum raised his hands in surrender. “Alright, alright. Hey, Mike, wanna hit the concession stand with me?”
Michael rocketed up from his seat. “Snacks?”
~~~
Whatever bitterness had taken over Calum was diminishing by intermission and was completely erased by the end of the show. “Damn, Britt, ya girl’s got some pipes.”
“See?!” Britt gloated, sticking her tongue out at him. “I told ya she’s amazing!”
“Yeah, she is,” I marveled in what I thought was just in my head. But based on how all my friends’ heads swiveled towards me with raised eyebrows had me thinking I’d actually said it out loud. “What?”
“Ooooo! Does someone have a little crush?” Michael teased, making kissy faces for dramatic effect.
“Damn, Ash. I knew you were a romantic type but I didn’t realize you fell that quick,” Calum snickered.
“Aw! Look at how red his cheeks are!” Crystal pointed out.
“I-“ I stammered, every part of my face warm, even the tips of my ears. “I was just agreeing with Britt and Cal. Y/N is uh… very talented. You know with the acting and the singing… she really draws in her audience. It’s uh… yeah…” Call it a sixth sense, but I had a good feeling about the girl. And she was Britt’s friend, and Britt and I got along fine. Who’s to say I couldn’t get along with her friend? Her stunning friend with the captivating voice that I was sure would find its way into my dreams? Okay… so I was a bit of an impulsive romantic. But so what? What was the point of having a good instinct if I didn’t listen to it?
“Well, c’mon!” Britt encouraged hurrying out of our row of seats. “She told me something about a stage door. Oh, she’ll probably want to go get food. Are you guys okay with that? If we go find a diner or something?” Her eyebrows pulled together and her teeth worried at her bottom lip as she looked up at Luke with big hopeful eyes. I smiled as Luke nodded at her before turning to us with a similar expression. They were like golden retriever puppies, the two of them. The same childlike glee with a dash of shyness that sometimes came out of nowhere. That was the thing I had noticed about my friends and their relationships. Both Luke and Michael had found someone like them. Someone who matched their energy. And maybe that was my problem. Maybe I just needed someone that matched mine rather than someone who counteracted it like I’d previously thought. Maybe opposites actually didn’t attract, and it was a lot more birds of a feather flock together sort of thing. Or maybe I was overthinking love dynamics way too much for my own good.
“I’m always down for food,” Michael shrugged.
“Of course you are,” we answered with eye rolls and friendly laughter.
By the time we got to the stage door, there was a small but decent sized crowd milling about. “Feels weird being on this side of things, huh?” Calum questioned as he drew up his hood, and I wondered if it had more to do with how cold it was outside, or out of years of instinct. Whatever it ended up being, the rest of us also pulled up our hoods to hide our faces, both from the people and the wind.
I was about to entertain Calum’s comment with a chuckle about how it was definitely a little weird to be the ones lying in wait rather than the ones about to be ambushed, but the door opened and everyone started clapping and whopping. A few girls even screamed that ear splitting scream as the male lead raised a hand in greeting, flashing a million dollar smile. But he was of little interest to me. My focus zeroed straight in on the woman of the hour who came out just behind her co-star. Eyeliner smudged in the corners of soft, bright eyes like she’d taken off her stage make up in a hurry, and she looked very comfortable in a hoodie, leggings, and a beanie pulled snugly down over her ears. A stark contrast from the costumes she donned on stage only moments again, but breathtaking all the same. Her eyes crinkled in the corners as she smiled and her mouth moved with words of gratitude and greeting.
Britt was practically jumping in place with her excitement to see her friend, but we waited for the crowd to thin before Britt let out a loud and excited “Y/N!” Then, she ran the short distance to crash into her friend.
“Britt! Oh my god! I didn’t know you were coming!” Y/N matched her friend’s excitement as she hugged Britt tight to her.
“I told you I would come!” Britt beamed.
“I know, but I didn’t think you meant like tonight. And you brought company!” Y/N’s attention turned to Luke first. “You must be Luke. Heard a lot about you. I’m a hugger, is that okay?”
“Nice to meet ya, darling,” Luke smiled, offering her a hug. “The show was amazing.”
“Aw, thanks! And let’s see…” She brought a finger to her lips as she studied us all. “You two,” the finger pointed at Michael and Crystal, “have to be Michael and Crystal, right? Michael, I hear you give amazing hugs.”
“That would be us,” Michael laughed before giving her a tight bear hug like they were long lost friends.
“Oh damn!” Y/N laughed, her face flushed. “Now that’s a fuckin’ hug! Crystal, you are one lucky lady.”
“Don’t I know it,” Crystal nodded, hugging the other woman. “So wonderful to meet you.”
“Oh, same! It’s amazing to put faces to the names Britt tells me about. I mean, not that it’s hard to put faces to your names cuz… well… it’s just really nice to actually meet you all finally. Which brings me to Ashton and Calum, yes?” she asked, her attention now fully on Calum and me.
“That would be us. I’m Cal,” Cal went first, giving her a quick hug in greeting like everyone else had.
“So that means you have to be Ashton,” she said.
“Yep,” I managed to get out before her arms were wrapping around my shoulders. My arms snaked around her back, reveling in the feeling of holding her against me.
“Don’t tell the others, but you’re the one I’ve been most excited to meet,” her voice whispered in my ear for only me to hear before she let go, and I let her step out of my grasp. I swear she even shot me a covert wink before clapping her hands together. “Oh this is great! I’m so glad y’all could come see the show. I’d love to continue to hang out with y’all, but I am starving. So if you guys had other plans you wanted to do to-“
“Food sounds great,” I interrupted. “Right, guys?”
“I could eat,” Michael agreed while Britt and Luke shot me a grateful look.
“Okay, awesome! There’s this great diner a couple blocks up. Walking distance really. Just um… let me run back inside real quick and grab the rest of my things. Oh, I’m so glad you’re here!” She gave Britt another quick squeeze before dashing back inside the theater.
The man she’d come out with snapped out of his own haze to realize that it was just him and us standing around. “Thanks for coming to the show,” he smiled politely as he took a few slow steps towards the door, giving us ample time to stop him and ask for autographs or pictures, but we didn’t stop him. No offense to him, but we weren’t here for him. But we gave a polite wave and muttered a congratulatory “great show,” as he walked inside.
A few minutes later, the door pushed open and out popped Y/N, laughing loudly as Mr. Broadway laughed with her just a step behind, his hand above hers on the door to help push it open. “I’ll see ya tomorrow, you goof,” she kept laughing, giving him a swift hug.
“Aw c’mon!” he flirted. “The club’s just a short walk down that way. I know the bouncer. Bound to be a good time.”
“I can’t,” she smiled, holding up her hands in apology. “I’m starving for 1, and look! My friends are in town.” One of her arms slung its way across my shoulders, the other across Britt’s. I tried not to smirk.
The man gave a small laugh as he nodded. “Alright. Well if you guys change your mind after you grab that bite to eat, you know how to reach me.”
“I’ll keep that in mind. Later, Dean.”
“Later, girlie.”
She blew out her breath as the man walked in the opposite direction from us. “That guy’s a character… C’mon! To food!”
~~~
I’m not sure how it happened, but one minute we were all in a diner, swapping stories with Y/N like we were all old friends catching up instead of just meeting for the first time, and the next it was just her and I walking through Central Park. I was too busy being captivated by the way her eyes sparkled, and her hands flew as she talked animatedly, a smear of ketchup in the corner of her mouth to listen to what my friends' excuses for leaving were, or even if they had tried to get me to follow. All I cared about was being in her presence. “You know, you’re really great, Ash,” she said as she stopped and leaned against the stone wall of the bridge we were crossing, a street lamp casting her in a soft glow. “Can I call you Ash? I heard them all calling you that, so I figured it was okay. But if it’s one of those ‘only my closest friends get to call me that’ then obviously I won’t.”
“Ash is fine,” I giggled. “You’re pretty great yourself. Which makes this next part a little narcissistic, but you kinda remind me of myself a bit.”
“I don’t think that makes you narcissistic. And yes, I’m a hundred percent saying that because I see it too, and don’t want to be a narcissist myself. We have very similar souls, I think.”
“I think we do too,” I told her as I rested my arms on the ledge of the bridge, looking out at the water. “So, um… What's the deal with that co-star of yours? Dean?” I tried to ask slyly.
“Great actor. Bright career. But actually a narcissist.” She gave a small chuckle before sighing. “I’m single. These actor types… well they know how to lay on the charm, let’s put it that way. I don’t want to date someone as a publicity stunt, ya know? I want it to be real. So I’m pretty selective about who I date.”
“Mmm, so that would be a no to coffee in the morning?”
“I didn’t say that.” She spun around so her back was no longer resting along the wall of the bridge. She propped her left elbow on the ledge, cupping her chin in her palm, and her right hand came to rest lightly on top of mine. “I really like you, Ashton. Britt… She tells me stories about you guys all the time. And I get how weird it is to only hear stories about a person and think you’d get on with them. And I also get that there’s only so much you can learn about someone in a few hours through even more stories. But-- and I could be wrong, but I don’t think I am-- I get the feeling that you really like me too. That we have a connection that somehow transcends needing to know more about each other for us to be certain about how we feel about each other. That…” She paused for a moment, looking for how to explain the unexplainable.
“That if I don’t kiss you, I might die,” I supplied, hopeful she meant something along those lines.
“Something like that,” she breathed before we both leaned in, our lips meeting in the middle.

CHAPTER 1 ~ dress up
You never intended to end up at this Halloween party. You didn't even know who to expect to see here, other than your roommate's friend from high school, the host, who had invited y'all as a package deal even though she knew you didn't really do parties. At least not ones like hers, where every bedroom ended up occupied by the end of the night and nearly no one went home alone. Thrilled to break out of your lame group of friends for a taste of flirtation and fun, you tried to relax into the scene but the unspoken expectation of casual sex intimidated you the tiniest bit.
Speaking of casual sex, there was Jungkook.
Used to admiring him from afar in your "14 Films To See Before You Graduate" class, you paused to take in the sight of him in what you supposed was a more natural habitat. Everyone knew Jungkook got girls, thanks to the rumor his first freshman-year hookup had started about his seriously impressive dick. He had a beautiful body too, carefully crafted muscles obvious even beneath his usual baggy black clothes, so as the more intimate rumors spread and various co-signers confirmed every detail from length to curve to (you had always hated this word, but...) girth, getting a piece of all that became a badge of honor among the girls in your grade. You had never really understood how the awkward boy who hid manga under his desk in class could supposedly be such a sex symbol, but you almost felt bad for him. That kind of reputation following you around everywhere couldn't be all fun and games. If anything, though, it had intrigued you even more about the rest of him, all his little weeb quirks and the way he debated your points in the discussion boards like he actually cared. He wasn't exactly studious in general, but he clearly loved film and you enjoyed speaking up in class just to see how he would jump off of your observations. You hadn't really talked to him other than that, but he didn't seem to be talking to anyone else tonight either. From the corner, you let yourself appreciate the way his nervous hands tugged at the skinny black tie of his costume, freeing more of his throat from a thin yellow button-down shirt.
At least you no longer felt overdressed in your Nancy Drew outfit. The retro headband, brown loafers, and bookish plaid knee-length skirt set a much more sophisticated tone than most other ensembles you'd seen, but Jungkook's weeb ass had basically worn a full suit to channel Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop. With his grown-out hair tousled and a navy pinstripe jacket cinched tight with two strips of electrical tape over his tiny waist, you couldn't deny that he rocked it. He leaned against a long plastic table left in the hallway, bobbing his head to the music in the next room and adjusting the too-slim suit pants around his thick thighs. His translucent cup stayed hidden behind a hip until he raised it quickly to his face for another sip of...red wine? Probably Franzia, knowing tonight's crowd, but anything was better than beer. You made a beeline for the one boy with taste at this party, your sole mission now to get wine drunk, sneak some Usher throwbacks on this playlist, and drop it low enough to leave some dude hard on the dance floor. #wastehistime2019, yknow.
"Hey!" You got his attention, grabbing the hand with the cup before he could lower it out of view again. His eyes grew comically wide and his mouth formed an "o" in shock before you demanded "Where is the wine?" and he pressed his lips back into a line, stuttering.
"I-I-I'm sorry, I just brought a bottle because the beer here sucks but I think it's all gone by now, I tried to hide it but yeah anyway you can have the rest of this one if you want though." Wincing at his own ramble, he ruffled the retro pouf of his hair with one hand and proffered the plastic cup in another. Both actions highlighted how pretty his hands were and you were just slightly tipsy enough to thread your fingers over his in the also-pretty black waves falling over his yep-still-just-as-pretty cheekbones.
"Aw, it's okay, I don't want to take your wine. No more liquid courage for me," you grinned, dotting the lightest kiss on his nose. It was an innocent gesture, but as your face naturally lowered so your noses touched, leaving your lips centimeters away from each other, something snapped—in him.
His wine discarded on the table, a hand curled around to clutch your ass and you practically felt his tongue before you felt his lips. Slamming your body abruptly into his, he nudged a thigh between your legs to grind it up on your center and as your arm got caught between your bodies, the tension you sensed filling his frame gave you pause. You pushed him away gently but firmly with the hand already flattened against his rock-solid abs. Looking down at the slight space restored between y'all, you removed his hands from his hair and your ass and laced them in yours to guide him back against the wall.
"I...what was that?" you almost giggled. You definitely weren't trying to laugh at him, but you couldn't hide your surprise at this first potential proof of his fuckboy reputation.
"I'm—" his whole face crumpled, both from the simple sting of your seeming rejection and the possibility that he had broken a boundary or forced himself on you against your wishes, which made him so sick he could barely face you. Squirming under your light hold but not quite resisting, he rambled again: "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to force myself on you or anything, don't worry I would never try anything if you didn't want to, I just figured we might as well get to the point if you did because, uh...when girls touch me like that or even talk to me at these things it's pretty much always just because they...want to."
"Jungkook," you breathed, pulsing your hands over his in reassurance. He squeezed his eyes shut, still distraught, and when they opened, you had craned your neck to meet his averted gaze.
"I never said I didn't want to."
His eyes widened again. "Uh...uh...then..." he trailed off, never having needed to directly proposition a girl like this before. He really had been inexperienced before the rapid escalation of college, and was at a loss for how to get to the good stuff from here via anything more eloquent than a rushed "Wanna fuck?" You shook your head silently, nose grazing his again, and let go of one hand to cup his face with care, like he was something precious you were scared of breaking.
"What? You want to get right to fucking me?" you murmured into his ear. He shivered at hearing you curse for the first time, freed from the constraints of class discussions and closer than he ever guessed you'd get to him. "Is that really what you want? Or is it what you think I do? Because if it's alright, I think I want something better. For you."
You pressed a new kiss to his nose, only slightly stronger than the one that had started all this. He held his breath and his untouched, open mouth trembled as you scattered soft introductions of your lips across his forehead, to his temples, over the scar that sliced his cheekbone. Finally inhaling a skittery heave of your shared air as you passed closer to his lips, he forced it back out in frustration when you ducked away to nudge under his jaw instead. Returning your hand to his hair, you grinned, enjoying the spike in his pulse under your thumb and skipping the tip of your tongue lightly over his neck right up to the earlobe. You lifted the choppy ends of his waves away from the dangly silver hoop they hid, tensing the strands just slightly between your fingers in an inability to hide your glee. Something told you this was going to drive him crazy.
Taking a slight detour to suck his pierced lobe between your lips, you responded to Jungkook’s low moan of surprise by wedging your tongue through the first oversized hole and letting your teeth clatter over multiple rings of metal. He was trying so hard to stay pliant under you, but the tease of slight pain in a new and unusual spot made him want your mouth more, anywhere he could get it. No one had ever spent this much time tracing so few inches of skin.
And so many girls had buried his face in their necks, craving evidence of an encounter with the Jeon Jungkook, that a strange kind of empathy caught him off guard when you showed him how good it could feel to receive. You connected your lips to the hollow right under his ear, feeling the tendons stretch as his head lolled away from you. Working him through a cascade of light gasps, you stepped away satisfied once you had sucked a dark bloom to the surface. He watched you leave with his mouth agape and chest heaving, unable to believe you could just walk away with a wave and a "See you in class!"
But you did, and he would.
"Shit!" he swore, a shaky hand darting straight to the spot. Now he had to keep his hair long for at least another two or three days. If he showed up to discussion on Monday and had to watch you admiring your work on his skin, he would probably just die on the spot. And that would not be very Spike Spiegel of him.

Hiya! So I’m just getting into musicals after my friend sent me two songs that were absolute bangers from Heathers and I’m pretty sure you like musicals so do you have any recommendations? 👀 if not that’s totally fine!
Oh. HOney.
Do i know musicals?!?! (i’m so sorry in advance, but you’ve opened pandora’s box)
Strap in, i’m your humble tour guide!
A Beginner’s Guide to Musicals
Now, its hard to organize these all but i’ll do my best. I orignally had MANY others on the list, but it seemed smarter not to overwhelm you with too many different genres, so i kept it simple. I also will recommend some songs out of order before listening to the show from the beginning, but that’s just
Some are gonna be movie musicals, so just bear in mind, but if you want the broadway version i can oblige! A couple personal favorites i highly suggest are:
Wicked
The backstory of the Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda the Good, before the events of the Wizard of Oz.
Listen, if i had to choose one show to see on Broadway, its this one. When the u.s. tour came to my city, i was beyond excited. And when my in-laws got orchestra seats for us to see it in, i all but cried. :D I could quite literally write an entire essay about the show deep diving into the costumes, the set and stage design, the tech and lights, the script adaptation, etc...
The music is iconic in its own right, and its just so much fun and full of heart! Start right at the beginning with No One Mourns The Wicked and The Wizard and I are brilliant places, but legit with any of these songs you can’t go wrong. There are even reprises in the show they didn’t put on the soundtrack but 1000% should be there, its just that good!
Full soundtrack available here!
Phantom of the Opera
Ah yes! An oldie but a goodie. Its almost all singing, but boy is it worth it! I actually recommend watching this, cause it’d end up being the same runtime and you get the added benefit of seeing everything going on. But the whole movie soundtrack is available on YouTube, of course (the prologue is super slow, just fair warning, its a lot more for visuals than musical). The Phantom of the Opera title song is a great starting place. Music of the Night (immediately following POTO) and Think of Me are some of my top favorites, but really this whole soundtrack is just *chefs kiss*. Oh! And All I Ask of You just melts my heart! Also, of you want a great stage production soundtrack, the 25th Anniversary at Albert Hall starring Sierra Boggess and Ramin Karimloo is fantastic as well!
Also also, i know where to watch both movie and stage performances, so just lemme know if you’d like that. :D
Hamilton
Ok now hear me out! I honestly also didn’t like Hamilton when it first came out. And i didn’t for a long time. I’m a more traditional broadway connoisseur, plus the only rap i really listened to was Eminem. But even there i’m super selective, and i made the mistake of listening to the intro song first.
Don’t be me.
Sometimes you need the familiar first before you get to the place where they branch off (in this case, throwing in some rap verses).
Hamilton in 7 Minutes is an amazing a cappella compilation of the entire soundtrack, plus the animatic someone drew for it is phenomenal. After that i highly HIGHLY recommend Helpless and then You’ll Be Back, oh and The Schuyler Sisters! This show is just as quirky and sweet as it is emotional. And i get its not for everyone, but i’d be remiss if i didn’t at least mention it.
Newsies
Inspired by the real-life happening of the Newsboys going on strike in 1899 New York.
Oh man, how do profess my love to thee? Mainly an all boys cast (but the ladies who have songs in it are *chefs kiss*), the choreography is as incredible as the music itself, and boy howdy is the music great! Jeremy Jordan is the butter on my bread and as Jack Kelly, just lives rent free in my head on repeat. If he sang to me every night, sleep would never be an issue. xD Carrying the Banner, King of New York, and Watch What Happens are great ways to start off this party. And here i shall grace you with the whole Live soundtrack (i didn’t like the audio quality for the regular recorded one i found, but its still the same cast so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯).
The whole stage show was professionally filmed and lives on Disney+ currently btw! (so go watch it! The tap numbers and spoon playing in it give me LIFE)
Heathers the Musical
The darkly delicious story of Veronica Sawyer, a brainy, beautiful teenage misfit who hustles her way into the most powerful and ruthless clique at Westerburg High: the Heathers. But before she can get comfortable atop the high school food chain, Veronica falls in love with the dangerously sexy new kid J.D. When Heather Chandler, the Almighty, kicks her out of the group, Veronica decides to bite the bullet and kiss Heather’s aerobicized ass…but J.D. has another plan for that bullet.
I’m so glad you already like this! The music really is a great banger and the story surprisingly manages to be both edgy humor-wise and serious when the moments call for it. Its a lot of fun and i’m surprised by how much i like it. If you haven’t already listened to them, Beautiful is the intro and is really good, and also Candy Store & Big Fun!
The Little Mermaid Musical
The movie and musical that need no introduction! I was really surprised by how much i liked Broadways soundtrack for the show, and how short-lived its time on stage was. It really doesn’t get enough credit for how much creativity went into everything. And what an all-star cast too! All the original songs from the movie are there, and i think they did a really good job expanding them even more, especially Under the Sea. Her Voice (10/10 just melts my heart) i’ll also recommend beforehand but honestly you don’t need too much. Just go straight from the start and head onward, you’ll really enjoy it!
The Sound of Music
Man i’m getting nostalgic. Another oldie but goodie! My mom, sisters and I loved watching this movie growing up (along with Oklahoma, Seven Brides For Seven Brothers, Singin’ In the Rain, My Fair Lady, Fiddler on the Roof, and just...every musical in our collection ;P). Funny, sweet, romantic, heartwarming, its got it all! The Sound of Music kicks everything off, and from there you can’t go wrong, but this is another movie musical i highly encourage watching! Also i just wanna throw in The Lonely Goatherd now cause its so much fun, so why wait?! ~~
Ok whew! I think that’s it (for now). It took a while to find links for everything, but we did it! Please holla at me if you have any questions or concerns. :)
Oh yes, and if you would like to see any of these masterpieces via recording, i may or may not have such knowledge for your viewing and/or audio entertainment.

Im about to finally watch that NC review of The Wall after watching a bunch of videos about it and Im just gonna put my thoughts during it in this post
Okay I just checked this review has 85k dislikes, 22k likes and 1.5 million views Im scared
I also havent watched actually watched The Wall btw, but I did watch Folding Ideas video if that helps
Oh god I really liked NC in like 2019 and even the beginning of 2020 and his greeting is giving me vietnam flashbacks
I hate Dougs voice already
Okay a bunch of shit is happening
Now theyre just showing clips from the original movie but as a horrible montage with fire edited over it
Dougs face makes me uncomcortable and I hate looking at it
Hes singing again goddamnit
Thank god, an ad
He stopped singing again thank god
What the fuck is that
I hate those giggles theyre awful
Why is Doug Walker a vampire
The costuming is straight up awful what is the budget on this
The cg is so bad and outdated why did they even bother
What are these dance moves
Theyre mentioning twitter now???
I just watched that 3 musical minute sequence and I have no idea what Doug is even trying to say
He spat out a bird? Huh??
What
Bro the animation is so bad
This would literally be completely incoherent without the on the nose lyrics
"So long Oscar-bait song/smoke a bong and it'll feel less wrong" bro what
I havent even watched the fucking movie and even I know hes missing the point, how did I ever think his reviews were good
I didnt not need to see Doug Walker wailing about being Jesus while shirtless in front of badly edited stockphoto water
What is that
His acting is so bad and I still hate his face
Im not even halfway through
I just wanna go back to working on my AU while watching actually good longform reviews
I cant even read the comments bc I wanna focus on the review itself I hate it here
This frame is very blue. I love the color, but its kinda out of place and was probably not done on purpose
What now
What
Why
I wanna commit crimes
Have I mentioned that I hate looking at Dougs face
That was, without exageration, the worst sponsor Ive ever seen
ITS NOT OVER???
I too call the people I am writing a love letter to whiny and pretentious
Oh god
What in the world
I didnt think it was possible but Dougs singing voice just got worse
Dude they drew on his head with like, marker or something and I can see it smudge
He got all these people and all these props and had these wholeass songs written but he couldnt even brush his fucking teeth before going on Youtube
Okay theyre doing a full on twitter song
What is this shit
This is the most boomer centrist thing I have ever seen in my life
What the fuck was that
The eye imagery going on is geniuienly very unsettling and kind of disorienting but I cant really appreciate it bc its just so bad
What is that
AND AD THANK GOD
Back to the bullshit
What is that
The greenscreen looks so bad
Only 11 minutes lets fucking gooooooo
Doug Walker standing in that hallway doing a power stance is my new sleep paralasis demon
Dude what are they even doing
What is that squirrel thing on this random guys counter
I dont understand whats going on
What in the world is that furry nightmare squirrel in the studio
Why is the edgy cowboy furry OC lecturing me about The Arts
I legimately cant understand most of the words being said and I have no idea if its because my brain has been fried or because they just went with the first take of every line
This part of the review is usually praised as "the best part" so Im both intrigued and really scared
Oh god its another furry OC
Okay I actually quite like the design of the grey furry with the big hat and six arms I just really hate the way he moves, I think it would look better as a static model or preferably a 2d drawing
Another Ad!
I also like the black one with the white horns and red accents
Okay what the fuck is that
I mean the one with the way too many antlers is a bit better than the one before it but it looks like the designer kinda gave up at this point
This feels like an acid trip but in the worst way
I think this is the first thing Ive seen that had a dragon in it, that didnt make it better at all
I mean. i guess this is very impressive but why
I feel like every single voice actor for these creatures recorded the lyrics with a completely different mic
Hey, what the fuck
Well this sure is all happening
What
"Well, the movie ended on such an open vagueness that it only makes sense the the review end on such an open vagueness" hey fuckface, thats not how reviews work
Thank you musician guy who had no lines up until now (I think his name was Corey??)
All of this bullshit and for WHAT
Theyre singing the spongebob squarepants theme song
These 30 seconds where the most I enjoyed myself consecutively during this entire 40 minute video
I dont know how, but Doug Walker somehow manages to stay unlikeable even while hes shouting out a charity that probably does wonderful work
In conclusion, there is a total of 5 Things I Enjoyed in this 40 minute review:
That gray furry with the hat and six arms
That black furry with the horns and red accents and eyes
The shade of blue during that one very blue shot
The spongebob squarepants theme
Apparently Griff Taylor (the son of the musician guy, Corey Taylor) is a fan of NC for some reason and his dad pretty much did this for him, and I can appreciate that on some level

Chapter 6
AN: Haven’t watched the new season yet. But unfortunately, I fell victim to spoilers and bitch…I’m not ready. Also, I’m not even going to talk about how late this shit is, I’m truly sorry. But hey, quarantine calls for major writing and catching up! Hope you enjoy!! The end, I know the saying is “Old habits die hard” But it kind of makes more sense what i have, whatever blah blah blah...ignore me! Enjoy and all feedback is welcome!!
DISCLAIMER: I DON’T OWN ANYTHING OF ON MY BLOCK. I ONLY OWN MY CHARACTERS, DAISY, JACKIE, MADELINE, AND ANDREW.
Rollerworld. Do I think it’s real? Ehh kinda. So, I think that the robbery was real, and that Lil Ricky and some other Santos hid the money. But it’s still a little far-fetched. I mean if you think about it someone would've found the money by now. Right?
“So now Jamal has the boys roped into believing that the money is real. It’s stupid right?” Oh, that’s right, I was supposed to be listening to Monse.
“Yeah...yeah that’s crazy but Monse, what if he’s right?” Turning in my seat I connect with identical chocolate eyes. It’s strange, it’s like I'm looking in a mirror. “What if they robbed the bank, okay, then they hid the money so that only the chosen one can find it.”
“Not you too,” She sighed and threw her head back. “Jamal said the same thing. Someone called him the ‘chosen one’ and that he’d be the one to find the money.”  Strange.
“Anyways, what are you guys doing for Halloween? I hope y’all aren’t going out trick or treating-”
“I’m not ready to date Cesar!” Monse yells.
“Okay...”
“Did you not hear me?”
“Oh no, I heard you loud and clear.” Smacking my lips as I take a sip from my glass. “You said you weren’t ready to date Cesar.”
“Does that not surprise you?”
“No…”
“Well, why not?”
“Monse, you’re 14, nobody expects you to be in love. But there’s definitely something between you two.” Shrugging I get up to take our empty dishes to the kitchen.
“Definitely not in love…but how could I ever date a Santos? Cesar has changed, he’s not safe anymore.”
~~
“Let me be very clear Daisy, you will never be involved with a Santos. All they do is kill and walk around like they own the world, it’s too dangerous for you.”
“Just like the Prophets then?”
“Don’t, you know it’s not like that Daisy. The-”
“They’re all the same, the Prophets, the Santos, Bloods, Crips. They all walk around like someone owes them something. I’m not afraid of anything dad, I can handle myself.”
“Not when you’re carrying around one of those things. For goodness sakes Daisy, the guy that got you pregnant was just locked up and you’re just walking around here like nothing happened…”
“No,”
“I don’t want this life for you Daisy. You’re not going to make it. That baby is going to be raised om a broken home with no father. Things like this don’t end well. You and Oscar won’t make it Daisy.”
“JUST STOP!” A white porcelain plate fell to the ground in a million pieces.
“Daisy you need to calm down.” A very blurry Monte walks towards me slowly with his hands out in front of him, like he was trying to assist a wild animal.
“No, everyone goes on about my choices. What about yours and mamas. Both of you have made mistakes, but in the end both of you are doing just fine.” Once that first tear broke free, the rest followed like a broken stream. I fell to ground clutching my chest and before I knew it, I was wailing like a banshee. Strong arms wrapped around me, as I was pulled into a warm chest.
“It’s going to be okay baby, I promise.” Kisses were littered across my forehead.
~~
“Let me tell you something Monse. You can feel however you want to feel about anyone. Just know that whatever happens, it’s all on you. You’re old enough to know from right and wrong.” Groaning, my knees pop as I get from my kneeling position in front of Monse. “Date him if you want to, there’s nothing wrong with it. Just remember what the consequences are.”
“But you dated Oscar, were you never afraid he would put you in danger?”
“He never, not once, put my life in danger. I was his world.”
“Then what happened, why do you hate him now?” A loud click echoes through the now quiet and dimly lit living room, as I lock the dead bolt on the front door.
“Goodnight Monse!”
~~
HAllOWeEn
My favorite time of the year, trick or treating, decorated pumpkins, little kids in cute costumes, the eeriness of going out at nighttime, hauntings, and the spookiness of not knowing what lurks in the-
“BOO!” Dark. Yelping, I jump so hard that I manage to fling orange icing at the cause of my heart attack.
“Andrew, I really hate you!” my feet move before I could even think, I’m snatching paper towels and stomping over towards him to clean up the mess.
“Hey, well this is a big surprise. I didn’t expect to get hit with icing. Also isn’t today your day off?” He turns around once I finish wiping down his shirt, to hang up his black denim levi jacket.
“It is, well was, I decided to come in and give an extra hand.” Shrugging I move back to the bowl filled with icing and resume lathering the cake.
“Or are you avoiding a certain someone?” Here we go.
“Nope, I’m trying to do my job Andrew, and you’re slowing me down. So, shut up and stop it.” Not gonna lie, I was avoiding said person. I don’t want anything to do with him right now, but I feel it deep in my bones that I’m gonna end up with him tonight. A bell tinkled as the front door to the bakery opened.
“I say we go to Brentwood!”
“No, we don’t leave out the house tonight, I say we stay in and watch movies.” Glancing up I see Ruby, Jamal, Monse, and Olivia walk in and sit down at a corner booth.
“What’s wrong with going out?” Olivia turned her head to the side looking at Monse.
“Last year we got rolled up on. Not fun at all. But hey, scary movies are just as fun.”
“Let’s go to Brentwood.”
“I say we go out tonight, think we go somewhere different, -“
“Brentwood…”
“Brentwood, let’s go to Brentwood.”
“It is safer, bigger houses, that means better candy!” Monse enthusiastically replies leaning closer to Olivia. “But what about Cesar?”
“What about him?”
“Where will he be?”
“Riding in Oscar’s Impala, why does it even matter?”
“Just asking I thought it’d be good to include him; he is a part of the group.” The questioning went back and forth for a while, before they went on to tease each other. I slide the cake in the fridge to firm before heading to the front with cookies, and cupcakes and laying them on the table in front of them.
“I’m feeding y’all sweets before trick or treating, y’all better start loving me more.” I love you’s were quickly spread around the group.
“So, I guess you’re going out?”
“Do you wanna give us- “
“Hell no,” Laughing I turn around to check the checkout line. “I’m not getting mixed up in any foolery tonight, I’m staying in and handing out candy, but um good luck!” Walking into the kitchen I hang my apron and fetch my belongings.
“Someone let Maddie know I’m gone for the day!” I welcome the warm fresh kiss against my face as I step outside, I just smell trouble.
~~
For the rest of the evening I’m cleaning the kitchen, swiffering the floors, and dancing around to music when I get a knock at the door.
“Oh, my first trick or tr-eaters.” I all but run to the door just to be met with chocolate eyes adorned with a teardrop and white teeth.
“Trick or treat!”
“Sorry, I’m not handing any candy out tonight.” I try to close the door, but I’m met with force.
“Let me in Daisy, we need to talk.” Knowing he wasn’t going to leave until I follow his orders, I place the bowl on the accent table by the door and make my way back to the kitchen.
“How come every time you want to talk; it has to be on your terms? When I wanted to talk you weren’t up to it.”
He scoffs, “How come you didn’t want to talk all those years ago?”
“If you’re going to continue to bring it up then you can find your way back out my damn door,” Placing my hands on my wide hips. “Now, are you hungry?”
“Feed me mamacita, you know I’m always hungry.” Quickly I warm some leftovers, creamy shrimp Alfredo with garlic bread. Small talk was made as we ate, and trick or tr-eaters came and went. Everything was calm until Oscar got a weird text message.
“I gotta go!” He mumbles through clenched teeth.
“Woah, woah, what’s going on? Is everything okay?” Jumping up, I trail after him to the door.
“Cesar needs me.” I grab his arm and turn him to face me.
“What happened to him? Is he hurt?”
“No, but he and his friends crashed a pa- “
“Wait, he went with them tonight?” He nods, “I’m going with you and don’t try to stop me, Monse is with them. So, I’m going!” Within 5 minutes I’m perched in the passenger side of his red impala and we’re speeding to Brentwood. A large and warm hand is placed upon my thigh and that’s when I realized how bad I was shaking.
“They’re okay, no one is seriously hurt.” Yeah, that wasn’t very convincing. My fucking nerves are fried. His hand stays there the rest of the way. Brentwood is one beautiful neighborhood. For the rich. The kids come into view as he comes to a stop in front of some party, with a group of young boys standing outside. Before I can even think, Oscar is out and speed walking to the kid dressed up like a Cholo. Oh fuck.
“Spooky!” I yell as soon as I step out the car. He begins whispering and the poor kid starts shaking. Footsteps come rushing over when I hear a familiar voice call my name. I meet the halfway and carefully check everyone over before I return my focus to Oscar.
“What do you want?” I guess you don’t mess with anyone Oscar loves.
~~
We drop Monse off at dads, with the promise of me coming back to pick her up later, and everyone else at Ruby’s. Oscar comes back to my house to “make sure I make it back safe”.
“I’ll be okay Oscar, I promise. Plus, I’m going to get Monse in a bit.”
“I wasn’t going to hurt him.” Blowing air, I turn to face him.
“If he would’ve drew blood from any of them, would you have hurt him?” He looks me in my eyes, and I feel goosebumps rise as he starts moving towards me.
“I don’t like when someone messes with the people I love, or who they love.” One step backwards for every step forward.
“You didn’t answer my question.” I whisper as my back hits a wall. His hands immediately come to rest on my face.
“I’ll kill anyone who hurts my loved ones.” Soft lips fall upon mine, and before I know it my thighs are wrapped around his waist and we’re on our way to my bedroom. Well tonight didn’t go as planned. Especially once I end up underneath him. Bad habits die hard they say…and you Oscar Diaz, you’re my bad habit…
