A long overdue post
Gosh, this feels strange... I’m writing a post and I’ve basically not been on here for 3 years. So, what is this? Am I doing a little comeback? Well... I don’t know. At least I wanted to come back to this blog which was so influential to me a few years ago.
In all this time I’ve never lost my love for Tanz der Vampire. The fandom has probably changed since my absence, and the people that I reguarly used to speak to within the community have also faded from my online life. I quit updating CoffinTanz when a lot was going on in my life. Then the pandemic rolled around and the musical came to a halt. And so my blog came to a halt.
Here I am, why? Because next month I’m going to see Tanz again. I feel this sense of nostalgia and excitement over seeing the show again and I wanted to share that with my hundreds of followers. The last time I saw the show was in October 2019, it has been such a long time and honestly, I feel like seeing Tanz is the best way to celebrate leaving the pandemic behind (at least that’s the case in western Europe) and look forward to a time when most things are possible again.
I’m not saying that I’m going to be as active as I was in my heydays, but I do hope to put some passion back into CoffinTanz. It just feels right to share the joy I feel about Tanz with other people.

A mourning Krolock because today Jim Steinman passed away. He was the co-producer of Tanz der Vampire and made the music we all love from the musical.

It's the interval right now. Can I just say OMG Robert Meyer as Krolock has the most beautiful almost opera-like voice ever! My last ever German Tanz show is great so far!

Hello! Very freshly minted TdV fan here. I was stalking through your blog (sorry!) and I saw references to there being a German version and an Austrian version of the musical with some differences in sets/costuming/etc. Do you know if there is a description of what these differences are, somewhere on the internet? Also - what does "Kentaur" mean? It's another word I've seen around a few times ^^|| many many thanks in advance for your patience!!
Hello there! A new Tanz fan is always a good thing, so don’t be apologetic for stalking my blog!
There is no official page (or anything similar as far as I know of) of all the differences between the German and the Austrian version. I kinda described the differences in these posts “Tanz terminology for beginners” https://coffintanz.tumblr.com/post/174137018369/tanz-terminology-for-beginners and “A beginner’s guide to Tanz” https://coffintanz.tumblr.com/post/168444649579/a-beginners-guide-to-tanz-der-vampire In which I also explain what Kentaur means! If you would really want to see the differences for yourself between the German and Austrian versions, I would recommend watching a bootleg of both the version. The best bootleg of the German one can be found on youtube (The one with Drew Sarich, Amelie Dobler and Anton Zetterholm) and if you want to watch a bootleg from Vienna, just send me a PM, I’ve got a reasonably good one. But basically, if you don’t want to look for the differences yourself, the biggest differences are the sets in Totale Finsternis and Tanzsaal, the beginning of the last song and basically all the costumes in the show.
That was a massively long answer, but I hope I could help you a bit. And if you (or anyone else who reads this) ever need to know something else about Tanz, just ask another question and I’ll gladly answer!

Well, sorry for any abruptness. You were responding to asks about Vampyyrien Tanssi, and, a few months back, IIRC, you had a post in which you asked how the verse "Sei bereit, Sternkind!" was translated in other languages....
It’s all fine! I make a lot of posts and I cannot remember every single one of them, especially if they are from multiple months ago. I must say that I know very little of the Finnish Tanz, so it’s okay to share info.

Finnish Sei bereit, Sternkind! = Varo vain, viaton! (sth like: Just beware, innocent one!) and the "Die Ewigkeit beginnt heut' Nacht!" = Kun yöstä tulee ikuisuus!
I would like to know where all this Finnish Tanz suddenly comes from?! I did not ask for any clearance about what Sei bereit in Finnish is, and no one asked for it, so this seems quite random. It’s just a bit strange to me :\

Related to previous ask, there are audio bootlegs of the Seinäjoki version of Finnish Tanz der Vampire in Youtube. Nothing is filmed though, it is very rare in Finland and I have never seen any filmed bootlegs of Finnish musicals.
It's been quite a while since I got this in my inbox but I never got around to posting it! Some more info about Vampyyrien Tanssi bootlegs.
