Habe mich heute dank meiner medizinischen Handcreme im Badezimmer eingesperrt. Zu dick aufgetragene, fettige Handcreme und eine alte, verklemmte Badezimmertür bedeuteten dann, dass ich viel zu lange hilflos die Türklinke befummelte und jedes mal abrutschte, als wäre ich in einer human-sized Lebendfalle gelandet. Ich habe dann, wie so oft, aufgegeben, und stand kurz enttäuscht mitten im Bad um mich kurz zu bedauern.

Ich wäre wohl kläglich im Bad verendet- an Hunger, oder an Selbstmitleid- hätte mich nicht jemand von der Küche aus an der Tür kratzen gehört. Die Tür wurde von der anderen Seite geöffnet, von meinem ehrlich verstört aussehenden Freund. To be fair, wenn gegen Mitternacht irgendwas in meiner Wohnung an den Türen kratzen würde wie der Geist eines längst verstorbenen Familienhundes würde ich wahrscheinlich mindestens genauso verstört aussehen.

Ihm bot sich dann ein Anblick den er mit einem ertappten Kleinkind verglich. Ich war pauschal empört, dass er sich über meine Notlage lustig machte- auch wenn ich definitiv genau diesen Gesichtsausdruck drauf hatte, als endlich die beschissene Tür aufging:

Dieser Blick sagt einzig und allein "Keeping our Badezimmertürklinke lubricated since 2024".

to all those new comers to the Percy Jackson world and being off on shipping Percabeth because Poseidon and Athena are uncle and niece, it’s stated in the books (specifically The Lost Hero) that gods don’t have DNA the way humans do.

and if that still doesn’t convince you or you may think it’s not a real or valuable explanation, let’s recall other ways that births happen in both greek myths and the Riordanverse:

- Zeus birthed Athena from his brain

- Athena’s demigod children are born the same way. out of her mind. so Annabeth is already way off from the usual goddess birth route

- Zeus also birthed Dionysus from his thigh

- Hephaestus was born from Hera and Zeus, but in a lot of versions its actually Hera who just had him by herself. she got pregnant and it happened. they’re gods. (then chucked him down a mountain) again, they’re gods.

- Hebe, goddess of youth, was born from Hera and a piece lettuce she ate

- in the Trials of Apollo, we learn that Kayla Knowles, daughter of Apollo, has a human father, Darren. meaning she has two fathers: Darren and Apollo. no mother involved in her creation whatsoever.

- Zeus has impregnated quite a large number of people during his time and in various different forms. one of the weirdest ones by far was when he came to a queen in the form of a swan, embraced her as that swan and nine months later she gave birth to two eggs. they hatched and inside was Helen of Sparta (as in Helen of Troy), Clytemnestra, Castur and Pollox.

- Poseidon and Medusa had a child and that child was born from Perseus cutting off Medusa’s head. that child was Pegasus. (yes, that Pegasus) (also some other dude was born too)

- Aphrodite was born out of sea foam made from the severed genitals of Ouranos that fell to the oceans

Das sage ich lieber nur auf Deutsch. Aber. Die amerikanische Endorsement-Kultur ist irgendwie eine extreme Clownerei.

#...und irgendwie auch leicht undemokratisch #Vielleicht liegt es daran dass ich aus einem 'Man sagt noch nicht mal der eigenen Familie was man wählt Haushalt komme #es ist das eine als Celebrity ein Zeichen gegen Extremismus und für die Demokratie zu setzen (das ist selbstverständlich!)#und in eine Zweiparteiensystem mit einem Kandidaten wie Trump ist das natürlich was anderes als in einem Mehrparteiensystem #aber die Tatsache dass tatsächlich darauf gewartet wird wann welcher Promi sein Endorsement dropped?#weil jemand besonders gut schauspielert oder singt oder Sport macht? Und das wird sicher mit dem PR-Team geplant #und dann öffentlich hinzugehen und zu sagen: Yo ich endorse die XYZ-Partei #und es ist halt auch nur eine Fortsetzung von Wahlwerbung und sonst wie #es geht halt alles in die Richtung 'Wer Geld hat und Fame hat kann den Wahlausgang mit beeinflussen'#und ich bin ein ziemlicher Purist in der Hinsicht. Ich habe schon allein bei Wahlwerbung sehr strenge Ansichten #aber die Idee das jemand weil er reich ist eine Partei öffentlich puscht? Weird. 'Endorsement' wer bist du etwas zu endorsen?#Ich meine ja - macht alles gegen Trump was geht und da nehme ich das auch in Kauf und habe nichts moralisches dagegen #Aber als Grundidee finde ich es schon deppert.
