S1mple hits ‘disgusting’ wallbang in FaZe’s final round at IEM Cologne CS:GO 2023

We believed that s1mple had exhausted all of his surprises in CS:GO when he was named the ESL player of the decade and took home the HLTV prize for best player in the globe for the third time in 2022. The GOAT, though, still has a few clever tricks up his sleeve. For many fans, s1mple dealt FaZe Clan’s final blow at IEM Cologne 2023 on Aug. 1. NAVI and FaZe were playing the last round of overtime on Overpass when the Ukrainian superstar grabbed the first kill on ropz with a “disgusting” wallbang, as desk host Freya Spiers called it after the game was over. It’s unclear if Aleksib told s1mple that ropz was there because of all the noise he made or if the AWPer just shot there out of intuition as that spot is usually used to boost players. Either way, the wallbang kill forced FaZe to rush the B bombsite in a four-vs-five disadvantage and they got shut down by NAVI’s defense, losing the map and the series as a whole. This wallbang wasn’t the only thing s1mple did today to help NAVI eliminate FaZe from IEM Cologne and remain alive to fight for a playoff spot in the LANXESS Arena. “Oh, God.”

You laughed and answered, “Yes, Freddie.”

“Would you like to come to the party I’m organizing?”

“That’s why you called me at… 8:25 in the morning,” you asked. You have to leave now or you’ll be late to work. “to invite me to your party?”

“Yes! Come on, darling, there will be free drinks maybe weed too,“ you laughed at this. Freddie knew you weren’t into the weed, actually you weren’t into the party’s he’d been organizing, “I’ll introduce you to the boys.”

“Wow, that’s your way of luring me to the party then. You’re going to introduce me to the other members of Queen?”

“Is it working?” Freddie murmured.

After thinking for a few seconds you gave in, “Okay I will come to the party.”

“We believe you, Y/N.” Chrissie said and petted Socks. But they both had that expression on. Which meant trouble. You shrugged it off and picked up your high heeled sandals. “How many dreams you had about him?” Chrissie added.

Veronica cursed, Chrissie squealed and added, “You did! You dreamed about him!”

You closed your eyes and turned to see them, “God, help me! Yes, I did, you happy now?”

Veronica’s mouth was open in shock, “You seriously have a crush on him.”

“Can we leave now?”

It wasn’t a question, it was a statement.

The car ride to Freddie’s home wasn’t uneventful like you’d hoped. As soon as you and the girls jumped in the taxi they renewed their interrogation.

“He is cute, isn’t he?” asked Veronica.

You groaned and pressed your palms over your eyes, “Fuck yes! But he’s an asshole and I don’t want to be part of his harem.”

That caught driver’s attention, he looked at you through the rearview mirror.

“Harem?” Chrissie asked.

“Yes, harem, Chrissie.” you murmured and instructed the driver to keep his eyes on the road.

“Tell us about the naughty dreams, sweetie,” Veronica uttered excitedly.

“Fuck. The dreams are good, almost too good. But he’s an asshole.” you exclaimed

“We know. You keep saying that.” Chrissie added looking at you.

“Because that’s the truth!”

Veronica laughed at your outburst but collected herself when you looked at her angrily, “Sorry but you’re definitely into someone who’s an asshole, Y/N.”

You folded your arms over your chest and whispered, “I know.”

“Why didn’t Freddie warn you about this guy?” Chrissie questioned.

“Because he wasn’t living in the apartment, some old lady was living,” you informed them.

Veronica and Chrissie nodded and shared a look. They had more questions but neither of them said anything.

The taxi stopped in front of Freddie’s house. We walked to the open front door and walked in. You refused to let that asshole to ruin your night. You were with your two best friends about to meet your other best friend and the members of the greatest band ever!

Freddie caught the sight of three of you across from him but he wasn’t alone. Two men were with him. One of them was tall, like really tall, he also had shoulder-length curly hair. The other man was a bit taller than Freddie. He had short curly hair and a shy smile.

Freddie approached you with a smile plastered on his lips. He hugged you all.

“Look at three of you!” he said happily and pulled you and the girls towards the two men he’d been chatting with. “Come on girls, I will introduce you three to the Queen!”

You and the girls were in front of the other two boys as Freddie started the introductions. “This is Y/N,” he said and wrapped an arm around your shoulders. You smiled. “This is Chrissie and Veronica,” he wrapped both arms around them too, “and girls those two are Brian,” he pointed at the man with the long curly hair,

“Hello, nice to meet you,” Brian said and shook your hands.

“And John,” Freddie added.

John awkwardly waved his hand and muttered, “Hi, nice to meet you.”

Veronica breathed in sharply when her gaze met John’s. You tried to stifle a laugh. Soon all six of you were involved in a friendly conversation. Everything was going smoothly; Freddie was disappearing to greet his other guests then reappearing again. In his third reappearance he asked:

“Where is the Blondie?”

“Blondie?” you asked, confused.

“There he is! Hey, Blondie, get your ass here and meet those lovely ladies!”

“I’m coming!” you heard a voice behind you, which was very familiar. You turned around to see who Freddie was inviting.

First, you saw his blue eyes, then his blue shirt which was halfway open and finally his messy blond hair. Your eyes widened when you realized who was in front of you.

“Fucking Wallbanger,” you hissed.

“Fucking Pink Nightie Girl,” he hissed back. His grin disappearing from his face.

The six people behind us were silent. They looked from you back to Roger and then back to you.

“That’s Wallbanger?” Veronica said, nodding to Roger.

“Wait for a second, that’s Pink Nightie Girl?” Brian laughed, John and Freddie snorted.

“Are you fucking kidding me?” you yelled, this couldn’t be happing but unfortunately it was happening, “Are you serious? Pink Nightie Girl?” you were beyond furious. The man who had caused you sleepless nights and constant banging were in front of you and he was smirking.

You wanted to wipe that smirk off his face. Maybe with a punch. But why was he there? Your gaze fell on Freddie.

“Y/N, I had no idea that you knew Roger. What a small world.” He smiled and clapped his hands together.

You chuckled dryly, “Yes, I know him. I know him too well actually. He’s my nosy neighbor. Roger the Wallbanger.”

Freddie’s eyes widened, “No fucking way!” he looked between you and Roger, “Roger is the Wallbanger and Y/N is the Pink Nightie Girl?”

Roger winked at you. You clenched your fists ready to attack him but Chrissie and Brian held you back.

Roger was about to say something but you yanked yourself from your capturers, shouted and pointed him, “Oh for fuck’s sake! You’re coming with me now, asshole.”

You grabbed him by his arm and led him outside, away from the party.

“Jesus, who knew that you were that desperate to sleep with me.”

“In your dreams, asshole.” you answered when you both stopped and faces met. “How dare you tell everyone about me? Calling me Pink Nightie Girl?”

“I could ask you the same question. Why your friends are calling me Wallbanger? What happens in my apartment is my problem.” he hissed back.

“Why you have to be such a manwhore and an asshole,” you asked, face inches from his. His breath was on your lips and cheeks.

“Why you have to be such a cockblocker,” Roger whispered. His gaze fell on your lips then returned to your eyes.

When you opened your mouth to tell him something sarcastic, Roger kissed you.

Your eyes widened. His blue eyes were on yours. After a few seconds when the shock from his act passed you pushed him away and you slapped his right cheek.

Roger was shocked but then you did something that shocked you too. You grabbed his half-open blue shirt and pulled him closer, kissing him. This time both of you closed your eyes, enjoying the feeling.

The drummer wrapped his arms around your waist and pushed you to the concrete fence so your back was touching it.

When Roger bit your bottom lip, you broke the kiss and push him away for the second time this night. Roger let out a moan which you heard.

“This never happened, understood?”

“Whatever you say.” he held his hands up defensively and smirked.

You huffed out and started walking away but turned to face him, “And stop calling me Pink Nightie Girl.”

“That’s your nickname, love until I see your other nighties.” he shot back as you started walking away.

You tripped and almost fell. He laughed loudly. His eyes checked you out as you walked away.

“And stop checking out my ass.”

Freddie, Brian, John, Veronica, and Chrissie laughed as the girls were telling them the story of Roger the Wallbanger.

You groaned at your public humiliation you spun around and walked out of the house, drink still in hand when you saw Roger. You tried to get away but he saw you.

“So I was thinking, we should call a truce, after all, we are neighbors,” Roger said hopefully.

“We can call a truce but I won’t sleep with you,” you answered. “And we will have some rules.”

Roger sipped his drink and looked at you expectedly. “Shoot.”

“I don’t care what you do during the day but I need to sleep. So please, let’s keep the sounds to a minimum when it’s dark.”

He agreed and sipped his drink once more and held out his hand, “Friends?”

You took it and shook it slightly. “Friends.” After drinking your cocktail, you muttered, “It’s late, I should go home.”

“Let me…” Roger rubbed back of his neck, “Let me take you home, we’re living in the same building.”

You didn’t know why but you agreed. You told Freddie that you’re going home, he wasn’t that you were leaving too soon. But his expression changed when he found out that Roger was taking you home.

“How do you know Freddie?” he asked curiously.

“I know him thorough his sister Kashmira. I know Freddie since high school.”

“What do you do for a living?” Roger’s eyes were fixated on the road.

“I’m an editor. I edit books, magazine and newspaper articles but mostly books.”

“Wait, you’re that Y/N?” he said, shaking his head, “What a small world.”

“What do you mean that Y/N?” you questioned and turned to face him completely.

“It’s just… Freddie has mentioned you before. And…”

“And?” you wanted him to continue.

Roger took a deep breath and spoke up, “He wanted us to meet…”

“Oh.” you breathed out.

“Yeah.”

The car ride ended too quickly. Now you and Roger were walking up the stairs. You couldn’t help but ask him. “Does Freddie know about the harem?”

Roger rolled his eyes, “Could you stop calling them that. Those two girls are important to me.”

“Whatever you say.” Roger’s eyes find your eyes as you turned around. “How long do you know Freddie?”

“Since college.” you nodded and continued the journey to your apartment.

“I could ask you what you do for a living but I know, you’re the drummer in Queen.”

Roger chuckled and nodded. He liked your sassy attitude.

You both reached the floor with the two apartments. “Well… goodnight, Roger.”

Roger’s heart fluttered as you said his name. He smiled at you. “Goodnight. The truce is still on, right?”

“Yes, it’s still on, unless I hear the banging through the thin walls.” you laughed.

Roger opened his door and turned to you before entering the apartment, “By the way, speaking of thin walls.”

“Yes?”

He thumped his fist on the wall, “Sweet dreams, love.” he winked and disappeared into the apartment.

What was that? Sweet dreams, thumping, and thin walls?

Then it came to you. He’d hear you moaning his name.

i've only recently got back into reading books so only have a few i guess but i am in love with the off campus & briar u series by elle kennedy (i will never shut up about her she is my favourite author) and cannot recommend them enough. also really enjoyed the seven husbands of evelyn hugo by taylor jenkins reid. the good girls guide to murder trilogy is also really cool. and finally, i haven't read the full books yet but i read an insert from wallbanger by alice clayton (from the cocktail series) and i am so excited to read

Finally finished Perhaps the Stars, and thus, Terra Ignota.

My favorite book of the series, and a good close on the tale. The final message, the choice of paths to resolve the war, it’s the sort of thing that makes me appreciate otherwise alien-to-me theology.

It’s been a very... enriching experience. The writing itself is excellent, and the series is packed with novel ideas. But it also had major elements (those revealed at the end of book 1) that....

So I’ve read plenty of books with unpleasant subject matter, right? Abuse, torture; the vile rewarded and people who sacrificed for the sake of others given only unending misery and dissatisfaction. It can be difficult, but sometimes the world is bad and stories should include bad things to reflect that reality. But Terra Ignota’s treatment of these things wasn’t just unpleasant, it was impossible to ignore, and prevented that sort of immersion that I think is the goal of any fiction. I had to read it with mental tongs, if that makes sense. Which is not something I’ve had to do with an otherwise good book before, which is what I mean when I say it was enriching.

Spoilers:

Perhaps the Stars did finally address one of those wallbanger moments, where at the culmination they talk about using their magical super math for things other than killing.

But that’s still my central point of rejection of the story: if you discover magical Hari Seldon style math, and your immediate and only plan is to use it to find people to murder in order to “help society”, you don’t really want to help society, you want to kill people. (NB: I do wonder if the Foundation Series parallels were intentional.)

If some people use the magic math to predict there’s going to be a war in the future and they can make it less bad by making there be a war sooner, they’re maybe less clear-eyed sages making a hard choice than they are people obsessed with war, who see it as some kind of... essential, platonic concept rather than an emergent property of conflicting needs of individual humans. (NB: I know this isn’t a book about real futurology or socio-cultural design, but it’s still a serious lacuna that not once did any of these super geniuses consider “a different approach to property rights” as a solution to the issues, except, in a very particular fashion, at the very end of the last book.)

If you find out about these people planning to make war happen, and decide you should torture, rape, and cannibalize them and this will somehow avert the war, averting war sounds mostly like a flimsy excuse for the torture and cannibalism!

You know, I could almost kind of understand people failing to treat Canner with the disdain that seems meet if only his crimes had at least, even a little bit, worked. The fact that even still the only one that seems to actually hate him is Caesar (who is also implied to do so not because of the torture murders, but because one of the specific victims was his lover!!!) feels like it should be a point about how the worst, most vile people do a great job of cultivating good opinions and relationships for purely practical reasons, and have no qualms against manipulation; though I didn’t spot any real textual support for that.

Like there’s a certain point past which, “A person’s present behavior is more important than their past actions for deciding how you treat them,” doesn’t hold much water! (Not on the scale of a human life span, anyways.)

At least it does make it explicit that Canner has been completely magically replaced with a different person with some shared memories (more completely and explicitly magically than JEDD Mason’s “I thought I’d finally found a free human” transformation). A small relief.

Reading Schedule

I thought I would share in case anyone is looking for book recommendations, has recommendations, wants to read along, or chat about books. My ask box is always open if anyone has any recommendations that they think I might like, or wants opinions on books I’ve read.

From Blood and Ash - [READ] To be totally honest, I found this book disappointing. Maybe I had set my expectations too high because I had seen so many people online talking about it, but it just didn’t do it for me. From the beginning the book is VERY much a tell don’t show. I also found it in places, frankly, boring. The romance just didn’t sizzle enough, and (without spoiling anything) for a maiden who is supposed to be cloistered away from the world, unable to speak to anyone, she seems to have a lot of interaction with people on a daily basis. She even admits in the first chapter to find it difficult to talk to people as she doesn’t understand the cadence of conversation, yet she is perfectly capable of witty interaction with everyone around her??? Also, I wasn’t super keen on the hero, he didn’t make my bathing-suit parts tingle as I hoped. He was kind of an obnoxious asshole and not in a sexy I want to smush genitals kind of way. Finally, the plot twists were utterly predictable and poorly executed. I think the main take away from this book was that it was excruciatingly boring. I will not be reading the sequel.

Splash Me - [READ] This book was the definition of SHORT but sweet. I read it in about a half hour so I’m not even sure if that classifies it as a novella. Regardless, it’s sweet, even if role-play gives me the ick.

Pumpkin Pounder - [READ] This book came in a duo with Splash Me. It’s a little longer but equally sweet. Still only took an hour to read.

Crescent City: House of Earth and Blood - [REREAD] I was in a bit of a book slump and felt like rereading one of my favourite books of 2020. It was great! If you haven’t already, read it! Although I have some THOUGHTS™️ about one particularly storyline that I need to think about some more before expressing. 

Wallbanger - [DNF] This book has been on my to read list since the start of the year, I thought it would be nice to read it before the end of the year, but a couple of pages in I knew it wasn’t going to be for me. I didn’t like the heroine and was a bit icked-out by the way she talks about not being able to have an “O”. I just wasn’t in the mood to read a book about a man with a magic penis who can “fix” a woman with a “broken” body. I gave up after three chapters.  

The Beast (Black Dagger Brotherhood 14) - [READ] After the disappointment of the Wallbanger, I decided to return to my old reliable and read the next book in the BDB series. I’ve said many times before that these books are pure trash, not least due to the inconsistent world building and slow erosion of distinct characters, BUT they’re my catnip! That said, I didn’t love the storyline of this book. I kinda hate when couples who had their happily ever after get resisted just so they can have kids. Unnecessary and annoying. 

The Chosen (Black Dagger Brotherhood 15) - [READ] Gods, I love the couple at the centre of this book and had such high hopes, but it was all a bit of a let down. There were some MAJOR side storylines that kind of distracted from the main romantic one, and many of the characters who I loved demonstrated really ugly aspects of their personality here, or in other cases, behaved in a way totally out of character for them - it was most strange. What also annoyed me is that the book was drama and angst all the way through until the last 15ish pages when BOOM all of it was magically solved without the couple really working through things or getting to see any happiness/resolution between them. It was more a case of “this thing happened so they’re going to be happy” rather than ever get to see them happy, which I think these characters really deserved.

The Thief (Black Dagger Brotherhood 16) - [READ] This is Assails and Solas book, a couple who, admittedly, when they first appeared in a previous, I skimmed over their chapters. However, overtime I came to really love Assail. This book was honestly just okay, but unlike in previous books in this series when a vampire falls in love with a human, there is some unbelievably wild (and worldly inconsistent) way for them to become immortal and stay with their loved one. That didn’t happen in this book, and I’m not sure if I liked that ending or not. 

A Warlord Wants Forever (Immortals After Dark .5) - [DNF] This book series was suggested to me as in a similar vein to ACOTAR/those who enjoyed SJM might enjoy this series. Let me tell you, IT WAS NOTHING like SJM’s writing. The storyline was poor, the stakes appeared unclear and inconsequential, but the biggest issue that I had with it was that it was seriously rapey. Not what I want in a romance at all. It was only a short novella so I persevered, but I will not be continuing with this series.

Ahead of the release of A Court of Silver Flames in mid February, I want to do an ACOTAR series reread (I spend so much time in Tumblr I almost forgot what is on the very page and what is comments/criticisms from the fandom!) I don’t know how long a total reread will take me but I plan to start around mid January, to be done just in time for ACOSF.
