QUARANTINED: NEIGHBORLY BREAKTHROUGHS
Good evening...
It is now Day 6 of the quarantine in my city, and don’t worry, the wine is restocked in my apartment: they can’t keep us down.
As I drive through the neighborhood to make necessary grocery trips or run essential errands, I have noticed a spike in human activity among my neighborhood community as more and more people that I have never seen before have started walking--walking their dogs, walking their kids, walking with their spouses, walking with their siblings and aunts, walking with their grandparents, and to be quite honest, it’s annoying beautiful.
Everyone waves to each other while maintaining a safe distance. Moms and dads that would probably typically come home from work and make dinner then watch TV, and send the kids to bed are now making new daily routines and even bringing out the strollers for the really little ones and the colorful tricycles for the grade school kids. It’s f*cking wonderful to see people implementing what may seem as small change but will have a large impact on themselves and their families. These are patterns that their kids will pick up on and hopefully continue as they grow.
It shows that when the world looks like it’s frowning globally that we can find a way to smile locally, and if that doesn’t make it into your pile of positive vibes for this week, then f*ck you, Patricia. Go be a “negative-Nancy” somewhere else, but let Karen do something nice for herself for once. You strap up those knock-off New Balances, and you go girl!
I’m not saying that I’m going to go for a walk anytime soon; I’m just saying it’s beautiful. 🤣❤
And as always,
Happy Quarantine, guys.
