Wa Na Wari’s Walk the Block Art Festival & Fundraiser Sat 9/17

Join Wa Na Wari on Saturday, September 17th, 2pm-6pm, for the 2nd Annual Walk the Block arts festival and celebration. This year the starting point will be at the roof of Medgar Evers Pool near Seattle’s Garfield High School, where you can grab a Walk the Block official map of all the art sites and a racing bib from Vis-à-Vis Society’s interactive installation. Pre-registration is highly encouraged to avoid long lines. 

Walk the Block is a Central District art festival featuring the work of local, national, and international Black & Indigenous artists. Yards, porches, parks, gardens, & small businesses host visual art, performance, community stories, dance parties, & art installations.

Artists participating in the 2022 Walk the Block include: Blumeadows, Alison Bremner, Jasmine Iona Brown, Bryce Detroit, Esther Ervin, Marita Dingus, Rachael F. ,Fysah, Gary Hammon & Carter Yasutake, JusMoni, Lehuauakea, Darrell McKinney, Meron Menghistab, Yeggy Michael, Larry Mizell Jr., Movimiento Afrolatino Seattle, NW Tap Connection, Tracy Rector, Perri Rhoden, Rashaun Rucker, Kenya Shakoor, Moses Sun, Gabrielle Tesfaye, Zachary James Watkins, Tiffany Wilson, Ezra Wube, Yirim Seck, films curated by Berette Macaulay, dance curated by Nia-Amina Minor and more.

Day 2 of my #walktheblock challenge. @megamike2.0 joined me and we accidentally went over our goal by 1 lap. So day 1 goal was 4 but I did 7. Day 2 goal was 7 but I did 8. Woot! See y'all for day 3!

Day 10 of my #WalkTheBlock Challenge! Complete. 4,335 steps around my block. 8 laps. Pic on the left is me whining because I definitely didn't want to walk but since I skipped yesterday in exchange for grocery shopping I didn't give myself a choice. It's so so true what they say "You never regret the exercise you show you up, only the ones you miss." R'Amen to that!

Day 5 of my #WalkTheBlock challenge: fantastic! Instead of just going in circles @megamike2.0 and I walked to a paint store and lighting store a few blocks away. We realized when we walked inside the lighting store that we were way underdressed. Crystals and diamonds everywhere. Also, this facial expression is kind of famous. I made it just for you, Mama! Now we are eating dinner out, on foot! Woot!
