Irresponsible dog owners have highkey ruined dogs for me

I cannot tell you the amount of times I have been chased by a DIFFERENT dog in my neighborhood. Please, ffs, KEEP YOUR DOG IN YOUR YARD!! I am riding my bike on a public road! Why is your dog running off your property into the street to chase me! I don’t know that your dog is friendly or not, and even if you said it is, I don’t believe you!

I have had dogs literally bite my bicycle, I have had them chase me, my poor mom was walking our own dog on a leash in OUR YARD and my neighbors dog ran INTO OUR YARD, legit up to the front door and their dog tried to attack our dog. On our OWN PORCH!

WHY are so many people irresponsible?? If you have a dog, you need to have something to keep it in your yard, a fence, an invisible fence, walk it on a leash!!

It’s fucking ridiculous, it makes me so mad. You’re putting other people and your own dog in danger, if it’s running in the road it could get hit by a car. Why tf is it outside by itself?? And idc if you claim your dog is friendly, a friendly dog isn’t going to run into someone else’s yard and attack their dog, it’s not going to bite my bike.

Like these irresponsible people ruin dogs for everyone else bc I know people who have put hours into training their dog, and it’s ruined in instance bc someone else’s dog attacked theirs, and now their dog is reactive. It’s so fucking common too, I used to work at a pet store, it’s MOST PEOPLE.

I used to love dogs, now every time I see one I hold my fucking breathe, I legit get so nervous. I am developing a freaking fear of dogs.

And it’s frustrating. I LIKE dogs. I used to want my own dog (not just a family one). Now I can’t imagine myself getting one. Because even if I get one and do everything right, someone else and their negligence could ruin it for me.

I don’t hate dogs, but I’m AFRAID of a lot of them. Especially big dogs, they legit scare me. Small dogs aren’t so bad, but I literally got approached by a random boxer dog today, that’s a big fucking dog dude. It was literally running into multiple peoples yards and through the street. Just wtf.

I just want to ride my bike man, without being scared I’m gonna get attacked by a random fucking dog, im on a public street, why are DOGS CHASING ME?

A funny thing about the semi-common fanon that Tech is secretly insecure is that Tech is wildly competent and not at all humble about it in a way that’s very matter-of-fact and not at all haughty or overbearing, and also. i had a dream that there was a genuinely benevolent man who wanted to give away $400,000 no strings attached to someone who truly needed it, and for some reason he considered me in the running, and i was like, "oh, i would have been last year, but i'm not anymore. like i need to be honest with you, i'd LIKE the money but i can't in good conscience take it from someone else. i'm able-bodied now and nearly back to full independence"

and he was like "okay, show me. climb these stairs."

and then he brought me to a staircase made up of about 60 incredibly steep steps. that were so sheer it was like a vertical rock climb.

my right hip was already hurting but i was like "yeah lmao, no problem :)" and started to climb. it became Immediately Apparent that i couldn't put my full weight on my right side, so i carefully hobbled up each step using my left leg and the railings.

halfway up my hip fully gave out.

the guy was like, "okay, okay, stop, i've seen enough. oh my god no. hey. STOP" and i was like "NO, I CAN FUCKING DO IT. I TOLD YOU I CAN DO IT AND I'M GOING TO DO IT." and then i pushed myself up the remaining steps by using my arms and hopping on my good leg.

which was difficult but achievable! i was incredibly proud of myself. i am the hulk. i am buff. i have the arm strength of a god.

sadly no one else was nearly as impressed. at the top there were a couple women who i guess worked with the mysterious benefactor, and they grabbed me and hauled me onto the upper landing like "WHY WOULD YOU FUCKING DO THAT?? WHY DID YOU DO THAT" as i Finally got to sit down.

anyway.

i then woke up with my right leg twisted well over 90 degrees. and pinned beneath me.

because my hip had subluxed worse in my sleep than it has in probably, like.... Over A Year.

so.

this is what two weeks without PT does to a motherfucker.

dragoncon fumbled their expectations to how big bg3 and people in america wanting to meet the uk actors reallllly bad so the room for dnd is tiny. but my sibling and i got here like 3 hours early and got up front (and surprisingly i got to pick first bc of my wheelchair lmao). "it takes a village to raise a child" is kind of an interesting saying. it isn't "it takes a family to raise a child," or "it takes a roster to raise a child," or even "it takes a lot of people to raise a child." it's specifically a village-- a group of people united by geographic circumstance alone.

inherently, the idea of a child raised in part by their community involves a child being raised in part by strangers. when you let your eight-year-old walk to the corner store to spend their allowance on a chocolate bar, they practice following traffic signals by copying the other people at the crosswalk. they learn that it's polite to smile when someone makes eye contact from all the grown-ups who smile as they walk by. they pet someone's service dog, and the owner stops them to explain why that's not okay, and that's their reminder to ask before they touch. they practice math with the teenager working the cash register, who tells them the difference between a nickel and a quarter and patiently picks through their fistful of change.

it takes a lot of trust to let your kid do this. in fact, I'll go a step further-- it takes a lot of faith. you are trusting that if your child screams, someone will come running. you are trusting that if they get lost, someone will walk them home. you are trusting that if they are vulnerable, nobody will take advantage of them-- and that if anyone tries to, someone else will interfere. and by and large, this faith is not misplaced. there's really no data in support of helicopter parenting. it doesn't lead to better long-term outcomes when you hyper-supervise your kid, and in fact, it often leads to far worse ones.

i do want to express more clearly that because of the dark magic literally just being part of him now (well done you heckin loser; you had one job and it was to not use that dang book), he more or less has to re-teach himself how to be a sorcerer. because the magic isn't cooperative with him anymore: it's feral and unrestrained and requires a lot of effort on mags' side to not lose control over it

he's practically having to start over. he has to use it or it'll drive him insane (well, insane again :D), but he also has to learn how to use it now that it's not the magic he's accustomed to: it's basically a different kind that requires more concentration and discipline from his end . . . not his forte ヽ(ヅ)ノ but he's gotta get it figured out or he's gonna be consumed by it all over again, so
