An odd Wakfu update.

I don't know if it's just me, but I specifically remember a time when I saw the Wakfu MMO having one of those weird eery updates.

I'm not sure if anyone can help me on this or if they even know what I'm talking about but a few years ago, I remember seeing an update from the Wakfu MMO that had the Brotherhood of the Tofu caught in a vegetative state. They were all stuck as humanoid trees rooted to the ground, but you were able to see some of their body parts intact from the vegetative process. Every single one of them looked like they had been zombified in a way except for Adamaï since he was nowhere to be seen.

The sight of them would've almost made me wonder if they just looked like that for a Halloween update. The only one who wasn't stuck to the ground in a zombified trance was Yugo. He had used the six eliatrope dofus and was in that same disheveled state from Season 2 when he was fighting Qilby.

I don't know how I came to remember this a few weeks ago, but I SWEAR I've seen that image somewhere, I just don't know where specifically. It was a real screenshot that had been taken by a player and shared it publicly. So yes, the image in question has been directly taken from the game.

I only saw that pic once, a few years ago, and my dumbass never bothered saving it. So I tried looking it up again only to find out I didn't remember where I even saw it in the first place.

I really don't want anyone to think that I'm making shit up because I'm really not.

@wakfu-weekly was generous enough to take the time out of their day to check the Wakfu MMO's update log history but found nothing that could have the same update I described.

It still bothers me how I am able to perfectly remember what I've seen about this off-putting screenshot, and yet I can't seem to find it anywhere 💀💀

Let's also never forget that Ruel's design was also taken from the official enutrof design class.

Dally's design, or rather his design from season 1, was also practically identical to the iop design class.

But as much as I want to laugh at the "coincidence" these four share to their class' default design, I believe that there was a good reason why Ankama decided to make them look like their class' default design.

When you begin playing Wakfu as a new player and select a class, the character you choose will initially have the same design as the class preview. This is because as a beginner, you are given the default design of the class to start off your journey in Wakfu.

So, in a way, Ankama's decision to make these four adopt their distinct class' design was actually genius because they have technically started their journeys in Season 1:

A) Amalia lacks experience in adventuring, which indicates that her powers are not particularly strong, and she has a spoiled attitude.

B) Evangelyne is always vigilant and has only been focused on protecting Amalia, so she has never shown any interest in going on adventures by her choice.

C) Dally's physical strength is very low, and despite possessing a powerful shushu sword like Rubilax, he is unable to effectively wield it.

D) Despite Ruel's extensive experience with adventure, he may not realize that he could benefit from seeking companionship or returning to adventuring.

In many stories, characters initially appear as their class's default design. However, as they gain experience in combat, power, and relationships, their appearance begins to evolve. As they make progress, their designs gradually change, becoming distinct from their original looks.

So when comparing these four to their past appearances, it's quite noticeable that they all share numerous differences.

(Ruel is a special case since this is not the first time he’s been adventuring and yet, there are clear indications of his evolving mindset and changing clothing over time.)

Ankama clearly has lots of creativity and diverse ideas when it comes to creating characters so the fact that they specifically chose these four to look exactly like their class’ designs, SHOULD NOT BE A COINCIDENCE ✨✨

I can't get over the fact that Eva and Amalia's designs from season 1 are essentially a more simplified, less skimpy version of the standard female Cra and Sadida avatars from the game.

My thoughts on the article about Goultard in the 20th anniversary Dofus Mag

FIRST OF ALL!!

We were given multiple dates. Some new, and some changed?

DATE OF BIRTH: 26th of Descendre -1121

This was sort of a surprise to the Goultard lore aficionados. As the birth certificate in Goultard Bazar states he was born on the 3rd day of the 7th moon. So, Goultard's date of birth was previously thought by many to be on the 3rd of the 7th month, Jullier. Though this date seemed odd, as this story takes place when Iop visits Cabotine, only three days after Goultard's birth, and it's snowing heavily outside. I don't know much about Gisgoul's weather but I doubt there'd be snow in Jullier.

As for the year... I'm honestly not sure where this information was from (please inform me if you know!!!) but it was commonly agreed upon that Goultard was born in -1111...

Another important date! Goultard first proves himself by beating a Taur in -1113, at 8 years old! So young... Little baby....

And another one! Goultard meets and fights Katar for the first time, and is possesseed by the symbiote, in -1091.

Making him 30 years old at that time. That's about how old I imagined him to be. If at the time, his oldest child was 8 years old, it would have meant Goultard got married and became a father at 22 years old. Which seems pretty reasonable for him.

That makes him 2102 years old in season 1 (981), 2103 years old in season 2 (982), 2109 years old in the 3 OVAs (988) and, as stated above, 2111 years old in Wakfu season 3 and 4 (990).

The symbiote is COMFIRMED to be Medoroziam, Mongrelamus in English. For anybody confused about that name, Medor is an extremely common, even stereotypical, dog name, and mongrel means a dog of no discernable breed, a mutt.

Medoroziam in the mmorpg. He was one of the ten Primordial Demons and one of Rushu's siblings. Unlike most of the others, he managed to escape Rushu's attempted fratricide but lost his body in doing so.

I very much enjoy having some info about the symbiote's backstory, and the symbiote originally being dog-like is.... yes 👁️👁️

He's 1471 years old when he meets Arty, in 350, and when Arty frees him from the demon after being possessed by the symbiote for 1441 years.

"The adventures he lived alongside Arty as Vald, as well as his fight against his friend when the latter took the form of a raging dragon, reignited the flame of his humanity."

REIGNITED THE FLAME OF HIS HUMANITY!

The time Goultard spent possessed by the symbiote, before being freed by Arty, represents about 68% of his entire lifetime (by season 4). (yes, I'm the only person who cares enough to calculate this)

They mention the story of Les Shushus de Rushu, that starts when Algate, a sorceress, frees Goultard from imprisonment in exchange for his help in defeating four of Rushu's most powerful shushus.

They don't tell us precisely when Goultard was imprisoned, or how long exactly he spent chained in that cave. All we know is it was at least a few centuries.

But they do confirm one thing that I simply refuse to accept.

That the Dofus Goultard obtained in this story, the same Dofus that resulted in the birth of Dark Vlad, was the Emerald Dofus... And not the Crimson Dofus.

I know Dark Vlad famously has the Emerald Dofus in the mmorpg, but this story happens in 24 while the mmorpg happens in 644!!!

Dark Vlad is very strongly associated with anger, flames and fire, just like the Crimson Dofus. We also know for a fact that Dark Vlad had the crimson Dofus within him for years before the events of the Dofus manga, because we see Crail the Guardian take it from him. And much later in the manga, when Goultard has the Crimson Dofus back, he still struggles not to turn into Vlad again.

Saying this Dofus was the Emerald one, takes away from Vlad's story and creates two plot holes : how did Vlad get the Crimson Dofus, and how did he lose the Emerald Dofus?

I hate this, sincerely.

And here comes another stupid ass decision from the council! This time it's about Tristepin and Iop's reincarnations.

"After so many adventures, Goultard inherits the powers of the lop god for a time and takes responsibility for raising the reincarnation of his father in the body of a simple Twelvian…"

"In 975, Goultard meets Tristepin, a young lop who wants to take the demigod as a model. He agrees to become his master when the time comes and to teach him the basics of combat."

GOU: WHEN I GROW UP, I WANT TO BE JUST LIKE YOU! PINPIN: I WILL BE TRISTEPIN DE PERCEDAL THE BARBARIAN… GOU: I WOULDN'T WISH IT ON YOU, KID… GOU: YOU SHOULD GO HOME! PINPIN: WILL YOU TEACH ME? A meeting visible in the manga DOFUS Hors-série: Goultard Bazar (2010).

"Some time later, he understands that Tristepin is none other than the new reincarnation of the Iop god."

This whole parts seems to confirm the growing suspicion i had that Tristepin is NOT the first human incarnation of the Iop god (like some details from season 3 also pointed to).

Confirming that the baby Goultard is seen holding (as if he had just given birth to it like the virgin mary all surrounded by farm animals and shit) in the epilogue of the Dofus manga is indeed not Tristepin.

AS FOR GOULTARD, HE BECAME A FATHER! HIS OWN FATHER'S FATHER. YES, IT'S A BIT COMPLEX… RATHER THAN RETURNING TO THE INGLORIUM TO BE WITH THE OTHER GODS, IOP DECIDED TO BE REINCARNATED AS A HUMAN BEING.

Personally, I believe this to be a huge mistake.

First of all, how many human reincarnations of Iop has there been before Pinpin? in the 614 years between the events of the Dofus manga and Tristepin's birth? That seems quite a short time for an immortal. And these incarnations wouldn't have died of old age, meaning something must have killed them, but what? And was Goultard responsible for raising and training every single one of them? Or only the first and Tristepin? Wouldn't any of them have found out about their divine origins and wanted to take back their rightful role and power as Iop god???

This all seems a little convoluted.

But also simply because in my opinion, Goultard having already raised/trained one or more other human incarnations of his father, before Pinpin, greatly takes away from how unique and complex his relationship with Tristepin feels....

Very disapointing but not surprising. I might simply pretend it's not true.

But besides all that, this article also gave us some great high defintion pictures of Goultard!!

Well, the release of Bestiale is just around the corner, and as a person who was waiting for it and was very upset with how this project looks now, I am going to express my opinion. I apologize in advance if my language is rude - I only have complaints and do not want to offend anyone. Also, in this post, not only the Bestiale series will be mentioned, but also other works by ankama, including animated series, games and comics.

Unfortunately, I do not have the opportunity to get acquainted with many of them now due to studies and health problems, so feel free to point out errors that may be in the text - I will be very grateful. And now - let's go!

The World of Twelve is a planet, a fantasy world where the events of all (with rare exceptions) stories of the krosmoz universe take place. This world is inhabited by people of many races/classes, which are revealed to varying degrees. Despite how Tot has recently abandoned the old canon and is having fun with fanfiction, I still suggest using marks that will indicate the degree to which we know about a particular race. (Important: the table is quite subjective and was compiled by me as an average consumer of content, so it does not claim to be absolutely accurate. I only write what I see.)

Even though we don't know much about Iop culture, they're literally everywhere because for some unknown reason Ankama loves them almost as much as Elia(o)tropes (Eliotropes were a waste of time and resources - are you ready for this conversation or not). Almost every project in the krosmoz universe has at least one Iop, and they look REALLY bad. I'll explain why I don't like them later, but first I'll give you a list of characters to back it up.

🥊2) Iop Characters;

When I say Iops are literally everywhere, I mean it. I want to point out that I haven't read the Dofus manga or the Ogrest manga, so I might be wrong in some places. I apologize in advance. Here's a list of Iop characters and roles, I think that's it:

1) Tristepin. Wakfu series (main characters), Wakfu manga (main characters), OVA (main characters), Waven (main characters). Also appears in other works as Iop God;

2) Goultard. Wakfu series (minor character), Waven (minor character), OVA (background character), Dofus Magna ( main characters), the protagonist of his own short film;

3) Eleley. Wakfu series (minor character), OVA (minor character), Wakfu manga (minor character), Waven* series (main character);

4) Pin. Wakfu series (minor character), Waven* series (main character);

5) Iop God . Wakfu (past incarnation of one of the main characters), Ogrest manga (minor character), Savara* (minor character or npc);

6) Khan. Dofus: Julith (minor character), Dofus mmorpg (npc), Welsh and Shedar* (minor character);

7) Bist. Lance Dur series (minor character), Lance Dur webtoon (minor character);

8) Karn. Bestiale* (main characters), Savara* (npc);

9) Savara. Savara* (main character);

*The featured animation/game product has not yet been released at the time of writing or has been abandoned;

As you can see, there are quite a few iops in important roles.

❗3) What's the problem

In short: iops are CtrlC+CtrlV dummies that the creators of the universe play with instead of developing the universe (the same goes for eliatropes/eliopropes).

With rare exceptions, all iops look something like this: proud, very strong, sometimes not particularly smart, fight well and love to do it. Of course, each of them will have some individual traits, but they all remain a set of the above qualities (with rare exceptions). I won't even talk about the design - it's decadence and boredom (especially hairstyles - most often they are LITERALLY THE SAME).

Iops, as a rule, are needed to please the viewer with their image and it works, but apart from their charm (I still don't understand why they are loved so much) they bring nothing else. No lore, no interesting information, which will tell us something new (besides the character itmself). I can forgive mistakes in creating a story, but I don't forgive monotony.

And it would seem: if so, then you can create a character of another race and start revealing other peoples. Give content for fans of another class that are part of your own audience too. Even if it was never the main goal of the show, it would be cool to have some variety even in small amounts, right? NO! Every time we get a red-headed goof created for crowd entertainment. What about the other races? I'm not interested in watching iops - I want to understand what the world of twelve is, we barely know anything about it! Have you even seen the official map of the world of twelve? There are a HUGE number of regions and places that you can ONLY learn something about if you play Dofus/Wakfu/ect.! Moreover, Ankama still creates new classes, but they do not get enough attention, only the basic minimum. What about the old ones? How much, for example, do we know about srams or zobals?

This universe has been around for ten years for sure, and I want to know more about it, about the others, not read another Tot fanfic about some silly-billy! Ankama. What. Is. This.

And don't get me wrong - I don't hate Iops, I actually like some of them. But they get TOO MUCH attention and because they bring so little new to the table, it's very hard to take Iops seriously. You just see wasted potential and every new character starts to irritate you.

Okay, I'm starting to get too angry, so let's move on. Sorry for the bombing.

🌊4) Bestiale;

Ugh, there will be a lot of complaining here too.

In fact, I didn't have any strong complaints about Karn's character until he was announced as the second main character. I don't mind him having having lots of fans' attention at all - let people enjoy what they like. But the creators of the show already give preference to him - he got the status of the main character, he is in the trailers, has some kind of biography, appears in the game and it is him, and not Yrehn, that we see in the videos advertising the series. Although there was no need for this. At all.

The main character herself appears only in the trailer and apart from the notes from the designer, we know nothing about her at all (well, she also has a special connection with Ilanthe, you could guess about it from the trailer, thanks). Are you serious?? I was expecting a cartoon about this girl saving her friend from a poacher, but it looks like they're making a cartoon about a POACHER guy who gets in the way of a teenage girl. I don't have any expectations for Bestiale, but as an osamodas fan, I was really looking forward to this series specifically because of Yrehn - and now she's being overshadowed by someone who used to only appear in an early poster. And I don't care if he's cool, a good father(yes, fatherhood doesn't mean anything, it's a cheap trick), and can cook - now I'm not going to like this character, even though his type's one of my favorites.

It would have been so much cooler if he stayed a villain (hello, i am a villain enjoyer) - but apparently Ankama lacks guts i guess. Plus, he would have been fresher and more interesting if he was a sacrier or a sram instead of the typical Iop. Remember the sacrier fight scenes? I think those two would have had so much more potential!

Anyway, I just hope Yrehn's arc doesn't get overshadowed. I'm really upset

🐉5) "Year of Osamodas";

And as a conclusion, I will add that this year Tot declared the year of Osamodas, deciding to start with a series where Yrehn (osamodas) shares the place of the main character with an iop, who is given so much attention that there is no budget left for the animation of the FIRST PROTAGONIST's tail. Oh, and there is also a whole game about iops coming out, where the main character is Karn's daughter, also an iop, obviously (but she also could be any other race since she's adopted) .Perhaps Yrehn will appear there. Happy year of Osamodas, thanks for your attention!))

@someguynamedvax and I played Waven together like a while ago and at some point during the middle of a battle, they summoned Yugo and Amalia AND WE JUST HAD THE IDEA TO PUT THEM UP TOGETHER 💕💕💕

We figured this was technically how they plan their dates and since they’ve got so much going on, a battle date with the risk of death sounded good to them 🥰🥰

They’re just two wild adventurers having dates in the battlefield 💖💖

Dia

Background: After a distasterous trip up Mount Zinit to face off with Orgest and stop his chaos once and for all, this Eniripsa finds herself on the Celestial Iland of Rii. Way too soon, she is pushed off said Iland by one of these pesky Wodent and crashes right through a ceiling of a house in Astrub much to the dismay of it's owner. (Intro Animation + Tutorial questline)

Solana

Background: Descending from a bloodline of Huppermages that refuses to join the ranks of the Huppermage Schools when they seperated themselves from the rest of society, Solana is one of the first of her generation to show genuine interest in rediscovering her ancestors abilities. Due to the influence and mentioned past, she was accepted to enter the "Rite of Admission". (Huppermage School questline)

Cameron

Background: Recently, this Cra left (fled) the Sidamoores of Barkmar to find his luck elsewhere in the world. Much to his dismay, the rumors of the naivety and idiocy of all outside his homenation seem to be true, which hinders him more than he first assumed. While the money comes easily enough, being a paid mercant with little moral standing and no references that are acceptebale outside the city of sins, he, begrudgingly joins with a recently freshly formed adventuring party as their Eniripsa has, somehow, weaseled herself into the graces of some Archaosologists. While they huddle together talking about old doors on Sufukia digsite, nobody should take notice if a few valubale artifacts go "mysteriously" missing. (Nations: Chapter 2 - Questline)

Tora

Background: (For now! might change later!) This Feca has found herself following her (classes) anchestors footsteps and works as a Gobball Shepard in Tainlea near Astrub. An accidental meeting while retriving some lost Gobette, she teams up Dia and Ryu to venture into the Treechnee Dungeon. After a successfull Dungeon crawl, she offers to help out here and there as she did enjoy some adventuring.
