Off to Japan (((o(*ďžâ˝ďž*)o)))
I am off to Japan today. My estimated arrival time is 10:00 am (JST) on December 16. With some luck, my flight wonât have any issues. Itâs my first time travelling after the pandemic, a lot of things have changed, there are many known and unknown risks and I have honestly no idea whatâs going to happen. Wish me luck!
I have a pretty packed schedule and hope to get a lot of Kalafina-related stuff done. My stay is mostly limited to Tokyo but I will be going on a couple of short one-day trips to surrounding areas. Iâll be bringing my laptop along so hopefully I can post a few updates here and there.
I probably wonât be able to record Keikoâs Instagram Lives while I am away so I kindly ask my followers to do it đ Thank you!

Episodes 39 and 40 of Delicious Party Precure! Together! In a double feature! Like fat juicy burger and a crispy chicken sandwich! It's epic!
First one's Yui focused? With her Dad? And the second Takumicchi focused? With HIS Dad? It's a double DILF special! Very cool.
I've been putting these both off so Spoilers, I guess... for two~!
-Oh yeah, we went back in time. That's a thing Kabuto did too, Yuin!
-Oooooh, Inari wrap, huh?
-So you WERE the narrator all along! ...wait, does this mean you've been hanging out with me the whole time?
-Ah... Yone-san... you really were watching over her all this time, huh?
-Dad's comin' back! The fisher man!
-How delectable.
-No need to cook!?
-Oh shit, Yuin's got sports ball power, I kinda forgot.
-See, with Ikki Igarashi, it's pretty informed in his fighting style, but Yuin's been sluggin' bitches so much... you very pointedly don't use your hands in soccer, so.
-Wakana Tamaki? Like Go Tamaki?
-Skort skort, Kome-Kome!
-Skort skort, Koko-neechan!
-Alright Mari-chan, what've you got for us today?
-We met Ginger! In the ancient past of 2002!
-Left on read.
-Sorry, Mari-chan.
-Black Pepper!
-Papa Ginger's just... like that, huh?
-Oh shit, Cerfueil.
-You will become perfect! ...that so, green lady?
-Snacc time
-Damn, Wakana-chan! Your dad's cool!
-Oh hello, Mashiba-san.
-Ooooooh, you're totally wiped!
-Oh...
-Damn dude, you okay?
-Dinner Time.
-Inari zushi!
-Oh, Jesus! Yuin, your room looks like it's covered in strawberry frosting! You don't even need that lamp, it's so bright already!
-What a hard-working man Mashiba-san is. You're super lucky to have a dad as based as he is, Wakana-chan.
-Grandmother once said... "No matter what condiment, no matter what ingredient, there is something greater and that's love of the person creating the food."
-Damn, going to a boarding school, huh?
-Not everybody gets it, I guess.
-She's in a mood, Ranchi.
-Well Kokone, I suppose we could reduce the preptime of their food with a bit of thinking...
-It's okay Yuin. I'm running low on Grandma Tendo quotes too.
-Yuin's gonna need to waterboard herself with mouthwash to get all that inevitable plaque outta her teeth.
-Egg
-Oh shit, Seccy's got a backstory.
-...oh, you've got issues.
-Tell her, Ranchi!
-Yuin, are you sure you're not gonna die?
-Maybe sit this one out, Yuin.
-Yeah, Precious is dyin'!
-Go time, ladies!
-Yum-Yum! Hyakuretsu Ken!
-"YOU SUCK!"
-Goddamn Seccy, you're very sad.
-Nobody's Perfect! My favorite W insert song!
-"Secretoru! I have to thank you! It's because of your very adult wisdom that I realize how much of a fuckin' sad soy princess cuckquean you are~!"
-Take the Baton! Convey your own genius!
-Oh but first, some bread.
-Whoop they ass!
-Ass they whooped.
-Two Egg.
-Not even happy to do your job, huh Seccy?
-Help her out, hell yeah!
-Busyness for his business.
-Seems like something stuck with Wakana-chan!
-Power Lunch!
-Come up with your own food-related aphorisms, Yuin-san!
-Ranchi and Amai-kaichou. Linguistic scholars.
-Takumicchi?
-Ohhhhhhh, Takumicchi!
-Yeah, your Dad's totally Cinnamon.
-Ohhhhhh, Takumi's mom's in on it.
-Cinnamon-san
-Oh sure, hit me with this catchy-ass pretty outro. I need that.
-Yep, two Dads are back!
-Takumicchi's retiring!
-Yep, the DILFs are back in town!
-Mari-chan
-Cinnamon... Shinada Monpei... Shina Mon...
-Ohhhh, that's
-That's very clever.
-Hug Him!
-Sad Prince Mari-chan.
-Ah, went somewhere to the Middle East, huh?
-Takumicchi! You have been discovered!
-It's okay though, I know a guy! I just need you to call this number, and ask for a new dust filter for a Hoover Max Pr-
-Oh yeah, it's Christmas next week. Ah.
-Buche de Noel..
-You really wanted to help out your girl, huh Takumicchi?
-Them slippery Bundoru.
-Not a Cook Fighter or a Pretty Cure.
-That's gotta sting, huh buddy?
-Good job, Fennel.
-...I uh... kinda find you a little sussy, but okay
-Ohayoooo!
-Aw, Takumicchi :(
-Ranchi and Koko-neechan seem to be jazzed for the
-Kanpeki!
-Thinkin' about Seccy, huh?
-Ever the supportive type, huh Takumicchi?
-AMANE JUMPSCARE
-BUUUUUUUH
-Chrimbus Party!
-Hahahahahahaha!
-I have to admit Takumicchi, I didn't think very highly of you when we first met, but you've definitely become a real reliable guy.
-Yeaaah!
-Man, if only literally every PreCure capable of retrieving them Pipis didn't live in Japan, huh?
-Then nobody can cook anymore.
-...goddamn your glasses are hot, Seccy.
-Bundoru, Bundoru!
-Chringus Time is here!
-Purse!
-Whoa! Big money!
-"Ah? Takumi, you didn't do anything bad as Black Pep. Why on earth would you ever want to hide it from Yui?"
-"Noooooooooo reason..."
-"Aaaaah, got it."
-Burned tongue!
-Cake...
-Bitch took my cake, my dog, my fox, and my dragon!
-Oooh, Mari got the moves!
-Oh, she caught him!
-"Gimme that fuckin' thing! I'm kicking that bitch's teeth in!"
-Black Pepper! Make her sneeze!
-You go, lad!
-Looks like you got caught in the act, buddy.
-Alright ladies, from the top! Delicious Standby!
-Kome! Tasty! Wonton! ...and Parfait noises!
-She's got a fuckin' command pad.
-Dooooooodge!
-Why didn't you DOOOOOODGE!?
-Smack that thang!
-Go talk to the green lady, Yuin.
-Yeah, get through to her, Yuin!
-Guess Spicy's bread wasn't hard enough.
-Oh damn, a two prong attack.
-Neat.
-Neither Cook Fighter nor PreCure. He is but Black Pepper! The token boy!
-Yeah, this is pretty good.
-You still can't join in on the finisher though Takumicchi. That's a girl thing, you see.
-Delicious Victory.
-Takumicchi!
-Maing a girl cry like that!
-Absolutely abhorrent!
-See, Amane agrees with me!
-Rice ball!
-Cure Precious's beloved sidekick. Black Pepper!
-Oh shoot! Master Ginger...
-Let's go learn some more about them rocks, eh?
-Learn from a master fighter, eh?
-"Cake later, okay?"
-Hello, Godatz-sama!
-Oh come now Amane, don't sound us off like you were the star of this episode /j
-Very fun pair of episodes. Takumi really shined today, he's pretty epic.
-Christmas party~!
-Not quite on Christmas from my perspective, but hey! Should be a holly jolly celebration anyway~! And we get to learn more about Fennel~!

Kalafina Live Report @Osaka - Christmas Premium Live 2017 (Part 2 of 2)
Click here for Part 1. Click here for my Live Report of the Acoustic Live in Zama.
Amidst all the negative speculations, here is something real for you xD Again, this will be a long post, but please read it until the very end. Thank you :) Feel free to comment or ask anything you like!
The musicians entered the stage and tested their instruments shortly, when Sakurada started to play a short solo and Kalafina entered the stage as well.
Letâs talk about their dresses first. You can see them here. (I wrote the following part before those were released, so feel free to skip it). Hikaruâs dress was more of a crimson red, tight at the torso and going straight and wider downwards. All of the dresses had the image of wedding dresses, although different types. Her dress was certainly the most modest of all, so to say, but I was too far away to see any details. Also, I absolutely loved Hikaruâs hair style. Itâs simple, the way she has her hair most of the time I guess, but I think it looks the best on her, without any special/big ornaments or tightly braided parts. I liked her outfit the most too. Keikoâs dress was the most impressive. Being pink/magenta/white, her dress stood out the most, mainly because it was HUGE. It was almost double the size compared to Hikaru and she looked so much bigger and taller than she actually is, but she was absolutely gorgeous, especially with the flower adornments in her hair. On her left side of the dress, there was a huge rose-shaped part. Wakanaâs dress was of a bright red, with many layered parts and she was the closest to being a princess bride. Totally stunning as these kinds of dresses suit her very well, in my opinion.
Kalafina started with âdolceâ, not that big of a surprise I thought. While the roof was lighted up in blue, the stage was brightly illuminated. Keiko sang extremely deep, deeper than usual when she is âjustâ support. She sounded a lot like a bass in the background with turned up volume. But it created a great mood and along with Wakana they all created an emotional beginning for us.
After that, the stage became dark, with big spotlights from above on the girls. The spotlights also had the be much bigger than normal, so their big dresses fit into the circles xD The neon tubes inside the diamonds in the background shone green, the stage was then illuminated partly in red â Christmas colors!
âWe wish you a merry Christmasâ on this festive stage, simply great. The âtreesâ on the stage also began to shine. Hikaru was absolutely cool here, her English is great (in contrast to the other two *cough*) and she had fun on stage as far as I could see. In the middle part, where Wakana starts to sing very high, she simply killed it and Keiko made of lot of gestures with arms and torso â they didnât move a lot during the concert⌠you know, the dresses. It was a pretty performance and another great introduction for a Christmas concert.
During MC #1, they bowed before the audience, but in these dresses they couldnât do it normally, so they had to make a curtsey like the beautiful princesses that they are. Wakana said that they have been doing the Acoustic Tour since November and wanted to convey Christmas emotions to us, although it wasnât Christmas yet. Keiko mentioned that this was their first Christmas Live this year and Hikaru asked for the stage to be lightened up, so she could see the audience. She was impressed that so many people managed to come on a weekday, she thanked us for that and they wanted to âshow us many landscapesâ.
Letâs stop here for a second and talk about the setlist. Despite this concert being awesome and absolutely stunning, I was a bit disappointed by the setlist. Take out the Christmas songs and âsnow fallingâ and it was totally the same as Zama/the Acoustic tour. Even in the same order. And if I take the Nikko Live into consideration as well, then there were many songs I would hear for the third time in a row now. I fully understand that the girls are super busy and canât come up with a whole new setlist in such a short time. Since they also probably in the middle of preparations for the 10th Anniversary Live, of course, they go with the songs they have rehearsed already. I am not saying that this is bad or that these songs are bad â but still I had hoped for a bit more than just one different song of their normal repertoire, like âDoorâ, âHaru ha kogane no yume no nakaâ, âKotonohaâ, âKichigo no shigemi niâ, âHokageâ, âSorairo no isuâ or, especially in that âlightâ block, âKimi ga hikari ni kaeteyukuâ (come on, that would have been so awesome). ALLELUIA! They have their own song called âAlleluiaâ, for gods sake XD These are all songs that are already in acoustic more or less, but are rarely performed⌠itâs just a pity, in my opinion, particularly for those who attended (more than one) Acoustic Live. However, before the hate starts that I donât appreciate this enough bla bla, that does not mean AT ALL that I did not enjoy this. Very much the opposite. Yes, a little disappointment was there, but that gave me also the great chance to listen to those masterpieces again and to find details that I didnât notice the first time. Also, many performances differed from before, so there was plenty new stuff to discover and luckily, since no âStoriaâ or âRing your bellâ, there was not a single song that I dislike! I loved every performance - only for the second or third time already xD Feel free to compare this report with my Zama report to see what could have been different, see link at the top of this post (I am way too lazy to do it myself). Here is my biggest criticism of Kalafina so far: THEY DONâT HAVE A PROPER ACOUSTIC ALBUM YET! So many acoustic concerts, so many non-acoustic songs re-arranged and no album dedicated for that! Come on, girls, throw out those Christmas songs and blow us away with an acoustic version of âOngakuâ XDD
Ok, anyway, the next song was âSapphireâ. I didnât mind at all to listen to this beautiful song again. The stage was in a deep blue and green, with some sort of green lines as a pattern in the background. It gave a rather painful impression and contributed greatly to the songâs mood instead of a plain blue stage. Especially the red dresses were a big contrast to that. Keiko and Wakana sang very emotionally and Wakanaâs tender voice (I actually wrote âbutter softâ in my notes, as we can say in German XD) was perfect. The Strings as well as Sakurada did an awesome job for the whole night and I really came to appreciate the Strings boys. They are often drowned out by the other band members in non-acoustic songs, but here they could go full power and be properly heard. Hikaru had put on her sad face, but struggled with the high notes. Her âkoborete yukuâ was pretty much drowned out by Keiko because she wasnât loud enough. I felt so sorry for her, because you could really see her giving all her best but it just wouldnât come out right :/ Still, great performance by all of them.
Next was âSandpiperâ, horray! The stage was of a warm orange and Hikaru again very emotional. The Cello again killed it. Other than that, this one did not really differ from Zama or Nikko. During the long instrumental part Kalafina looked first to the left, then to the right side, while they were also illuminated from each side. A bit boring I have to admit, but the dresses looked so cool in that light. Hikaru again, the prettiest! At the end, they changed positions with Hikaru in the middle, but she showed as her back while the other two their sides.
âMagiaâ started with a deep red/pink stage, so not very Christmas-y. During the chorus it became blue/green and had a rather mystical touch, but I liked it very much. I feel like âMagiaâ is one of those songs where Kalafina always tries to be more experimental, as they also had a lot of light changes. Hikaruâs ânegaiâ were very dramatic and the performance was so much stronger than any âMagiaâ performance Iâve ever heard/seen before. As the song continued, Hikaru gained more and more speed and power. She sang the words very emphasized and clipped, she got louder during the second chorus. All of three sang so much more powerful, they all got louder and more vigorous too. The instrumental part was skipped and Keiko continued with her part in a green background, while it became red again for the last chorus. With the end of Hikaruâs final ânegaiâ, the song also ended immediately, with a single spotlight focussing on Hikaru. This was probably my favorite performance of the night. I have heard and seen this song so many many times by now, as it comes up in pretty much every bigger concert, and I was simply surprised that they still can surpass themselves by just changing a few little things. In acoustic, the focus lies almost exclusively on their voices and people get not distracted by the band or the show itself so easily.
From one strong song to another, next was âBlazeâ, another song I really enjoyed. We had dark blue/white illuminations and with Keiko being in the middle again, the whole song became again a lot more sadder. Then during chorus a pink/red/orange stage and Hikaru sang with a lot of gestures. Like in Zama, they sang certain words and syllables during the chorus extremely emphasized, like âsekasaRETEâ, âSAkendeâ etc. For the Kajiurago bridge they came close together. Have I ever mentioned that I love love love Keiko in that part? That short moment where she sings very very high is awesome every single time. I also noticed that Hikaru had a single flick of hair in her face that wouldnât go away, no matter how often she put in back to place XD
MC #2 was about Wakana talking about how many people came to see them for the first time and others who have come many many times. For them it is difficult to re-arrange non-acoustic songs, even after so many years. When December comes, they feel that certain feeling âAh, itâs winter and time for the acoustic concertsâ (something like this). This feeling is very special to them and the next song would be a song that they have performed countless times by now, namely their debut single.
âObliviousâ, yay! The stage was illuminated in blue and green, with stripes and other patterns. Wakana started right into the stanza, again a lot slower and more emotionaĂś than normal. The middle part gained more speed, while Keiko and her small kajiurago part were cool as usual (and you could hear her singing the lines properly), but she skipped the last line of it. Keikoâs and Wakanaâs duet was slow and frail, almost yearning, as they sang facing each other, while Hikaru again was doing almost nothing until she was finally allowed to sing the aaaah part once in an orange stage. It was quiet but pretty and later the stage changed to purple. The final chorus became faster and more powerful again and Wakana sang the final âutatteâ without any instruments.
After that, the neon tubes in the background shone white in a blue stage. Sakurada introduced âSeventh Heavenâ with a short solo. Keiko was sideways and had a big spotlight on her while singing the first part, so that the huge dress would fit. It was again a beautiful, almost flawless performance. Hikaru struggled again with the high notes, but Wakana was wonderful, especially her âanata to watashiâ. At the end we had a bright stage.
It continued with âKantankatanâ on a bright, white stage with the neon tubes in blue. Wakana was tremendously beautiful, but totally not feeling the christmas spirit XD The âtoki wo hashiru kishaâ is my favorite part in the normal version, but I came to like it even more in the acoustic version. From this part on the song gained more speed, the Strings were simply awesome, they also played with a lot of gestures. During Keikoâs part the stage became deep red und she sang so much more fragile. At the end the stage was deep blue. I felt sorry for Hikaru, because neither Wakana nor Keiko looked at her, it was always a duet-like thing between only them XD
Next was âLacrimosaâ. The neon tubes shone red on a red/white stage and later in deep green, in the middle part deep red and then blue/purple/turquoise, at the LA-CRI-MO-SA part red (at which Kalafina stretched out their hands towards the audience, just like at the 9+ONE performance) and at the end the whole hall was covered in light blue light. The Strings played extremely fast here and I enjoyed watching them a lot. Hikaru sang the Kajiurago parts after the chorus more or less alone. I felt that the stanzas were more dramatic and faster than usual. Other than that, same as Zama.
Weâre halfway through, guys. Congratulations, youâve made it this far. Go get a drink or stretch your arms and legs a bit, you deserved it.Â
We entered MC #3. Keiko did a small recap of this rather dramatic block. I admit, I did not really understand what she was saying, as there was too many words I didnât know and I couldnât get out my cellphone to look up the words, you know xD She talked how she wanted to show us different landscapes/sceneries and whether we were able to see them or not. It was very beautiful for her too to see the colors on stage changing and she enjoyed their own harmony too, but that harmony is very difficult to control. The topic changed to the christmas-like decorated stage and how it brings them into christmas mood. Especially the fir branches contributed to a lot of green on the stage, where Keiko said that especially Wakana liked it, as she loves plants and green. Wakana mentioned that these fir branches were actually real and Keiko was like ââŚah, okâ. Coming from this, it was said that the next block, since this is a Christmas concert, would be therefore Christmas songs.
They then continued with âFrom heaven aboveâ, which I wouldnât even have recognized if they hadnât announced it. I admit, I have never listened to that song even once, only the preview on ITunes (not proud of it though⌠I should get the Winter Acoustic AlbumâŚ). The stage became dark blue and the weirdest thing about that performance was again their English. I didnât know the lyrics, but they certainly didnât help me to understand them either (Iâm being mean I know :p). So this was the first time for me listening to the full version of this song and I admit I liked it. Can someone help me, is this an actual original Kalafina song or a cover from some traditional christian church song? Iâm not sure xD Anyway, their harmony was great and they appeared to enjoy singing this song, as they swang along and moved a lot, short but very nice performance.
Then, huge spotlights focussed on the girls and the background became green again, as the next song was one of the more famous Christmas carols, âDeck the Hallsâ (itâs this song). I knew the song but not the title (I just googled it lol). This one was really fun to listen to. Kalafina smiled a lot and had a lot of fun too. Great harmony and singing, the stage was bright and warm. Again, weird English.
The stage was green again for âJingle Bellsâ. Haha, I knew this would come up. It started out rather slow, but later was so joyful and fun. The neon tubes shone red and again, this whole Christmas atmosphere warmed the entire hall. At the chorus, everyone started clapping along. I enjoyed it very much, along with everyone else.
MC #4 started with Hikaru saying that Christmas songs always warm her heart, but continued to ask whether she can talk freely for a bit and everyone was laughing and cheering her on, as we all love when she does some conversation with us. She told us that they arrived in Osaka the day before the concert and that she went to explore Umeda and Hep 5 (see her blog post here), a huge mall with a big red ferris wheel on its roof. She rode the ferris wheel all by herself and felt quite lonely, because there were only groups or couples around her. At some time a photo is taken which you can purchase afterwards. So, when she was asked if she wants it she answered with a resolute âNo, thank you! (ăăăăçľć§ă§ă!)â, because it was too awkward to have this kind of photo (I really laughed hard at this, because she said in such a funny way). Keiko and Wakana also laughed in the background. After all this time, even Hikari gets excited when she sees all our smiles and eyes on her.
She then introduced âHanatabaâ for us. This song is about leaving things behind and the choice which things to leave behind. You need a strong determination and heart for that, and she wants this feeling to reach our hearts. The stage was illuminated in blue/pink, with flower patterns in the background. Hikaru was very emotional, while the Chorus became somewhat speedy. Keiko was amazing and better than in Zama. At the end we had a deep yellow/red/orange light and the background diamonds were illuminated with a pattern that looked a lot like those colorful windows of churches. The final kajiurago part was strong and great, on a purple stage.
âMantenâ started with a deep blue stage and bright spotlights on the girls. During the stanza they were only accompanied by the piano, but it somehow drowned Hikaru out, as she suddenly became quieter. During the instrumental part Keiko turned her back to the audience and spread her arms and when her turn came, the Strings played much faster. She was very cool and made a lot of gestures the whole performance.
Again, âHyakka Ryouranâ was introduced with an deeply red illuminated stage. Keikoâs first stanza was accompanied only by the piano and she sang very soulful, while Wakana on the other hand was very loud, she almost drowned out Keiko. From an blue/green stage we got again red for the chorus with turquoise spotlights from above. Hikaruâs âatteâ was longer than usual. And here came my favorite part: after the chorus ended we got a moment of silence while the whole hall became dark blue and a single spotlight focussed on Wakana. She sang her kajiurago lines very slowly and super sad, just like in Nikko and Zama. I love it. Then there was another pause of complete silence, and then BOOM again, Hikaru delivered her lines powerfully and loud, the musicians gave their best. Keikoâs next stanza was accompanied by a red/blue stage and took out all the previous speed but she herself sang very strongly. Her âyaibaâ was longer than normal. It was an amazing performance, Keiko gestured a lot with her arms and ended the song on a deep red stage.
In MC #5 they told us that all the songs they had just performed are already very dramatic in the original version, particularly âHyakka Ryouranâ. Wakana was back in the middle and Keiko told us that the songs from this concert contain the word âhikariâ a lot. When they travelled to Osaka with the Shinkansen, she saw a big rainbow (see here) and while taking photos of it, the light around the rainbow and the landscape were astonishing. Having these landscapes in mind she sings and while singing she is seeing the landscapes that she wants to see.
Her words were followed by âHikari furuâ. The girls were being illuminated from all sides and Wakana started out somewhat slower, but that just might have been my imagination. First only the piano played and the Strings joined him later. Keiko sang her part very quiet and Hikaru was barely audible, she struggled extremely with her âto omottaâ (poor thing :/). Wakanaâs âhitomi wo tozashiteâ was AMAZING as always, itâs my favorite part. All in all and despite Hikaruâs mistakes, I liked this performance a lot more than Zama. Keikoâs final âmabushii asaâ was longer too (they somehow discovered holding the tone longer for them). Beautiful song - the girl next to me started crying XD
With Keiko in the middle again, it continued with âHikari no senritsuâ, with the first part of the first chorus in acapella. Then the song went on as usual in a white, light green stage. Kalafina had a lot of fun singing, they were smiling and moving around a bit, but the melody was so sad, such a contradiction. The instrumental had a solo from Sakurada, then a solo from the Strings, it was a nice change of focus on the instruments in an orange stage. The part that starts with âtaiko no oto karaâ they sang very very strongly, not as smooth as they usually do. This made the whole thing a lot more dramatic than the song actually intends to be. Hikaruâs next lines were sad and the Strings only plucked the strings of their instruments. Good performance overall!
âInto the worldâ started with blue illuminations. They all sang very beautifully, I liked Keiko a lot here, but this was the fifth time in a row to hear this song, so I was kinda⌠you know, not really impressed by it anymore. Still great performance, but nothing special happened here.
Just a bit more guys, you can do it!
In MC #6, Kalafina made a curtsey again and people clapped a while for them. Keiko emphasized the beauty of Symphony Hall and it makes her very happy that they can make us happy with their harmony, she thanked us for that. She then continued to introduce the band members. âAre we all having fun?â she asked and we were like âhell yeahâ. She said that the final song would be a Christmas song. But SHE FORGOT WHICH SONG! XD I laughed so hard at this, she had to look it up somewhere or someone told her, but she apologized to Wakana and Hikaru and then to us.
So it went on with âWinter Wonderlandâ. The stage was blue/pink and Wakana sang very nicely (in her strange English⌠I only understood half of it lol). The whole arrangement of the song was very charming, in the middle part we had a bright white stage. The girls appeared to have fun and we had fun too.
After that, they fake-ended the concert and left the stage, but veeery slowly due to the dresses. Everyone kept clapping until Kalafina returned veeery slowly. Hikaru waved at the audience while Keiko and Wakana proceeded to take a bow again, but Hikaru was so distracted that she didnât notice in time, so she just smiled. Wakana said in MC #7 that she is always surprised how time flies so fast during a concert. She thanked us for the encore and that they have been to this beautiful hall last year the last time. As most of the songs are rather slow, she wondered whether some of us fell asleep. Out of the musicians, only Sakurada and the Cello guy returned and the next song would only be accompanied by them. Even though itâs already cold winter, Kalafina wanted to send warm feelings to us, so the next song would be gentle and warm. She used the word âyasashiiâ, so I was getting very nervous. I expected âYasashii Utaâ and although this is pretty song, I just didnât want to hear it again at all.
But luckily, they performed âSnow fallingâ and I couldnât have been happier about it. Not only this was a song I havenât seen live for myself yet, I really adore it. Along with âMagiaâ this was my favorite song from this concert. The song started with a grey/white light. Wakana was absolutely stunning during this whole performance, emotional, frail and yet warm. Hikaru didnât cover herself with glory here, to be honest. She struggled with her parts a bit and the âritardandoâ and âfalling snowâ were quite off-key, but donât worry, sheâs still the bestest. I loved loved loved the middle part, where they all sing alternately. Wakana killed it and it was just perfect, despite Hikaruâs small mistakes. It was a great final song.
But NO, it wasnât the final song yet! The other Strings came back and Hikaru took over again to talk freely in MC #8. Sales corner time! She introduced the new Christmas Live exclusive goods and began with the stola. Men might not know what a stola is, itâs a bigger, warm scarf basically, that comes in navy blue. In silver there is âKalafinaâ embroidered on the bottom side and the tour logo in the upper middle in black, although it is not that visible on the first look. So how is this supposed to be worn? In order to see the logo you can do like this (she demonstrated it on herself, so I canât really describe what she did), or you can do it like that so you canât see the letters and logo. You can give it to someone as a present, as Christmas is almost there, so please check it out, she said, while Wakana and Keiko had their own little conversation in the background, but they were laughing and talking about Hikaruâs hilarious way of folding the stola. Hikaru then explained some stuff about the collaboration with Sony Walkman. She said something like it would come out in January, but Iâm not sure whether this referred to the release of the products or to more information on it. But more information will follow soon, she said further. Wakana herself apparently uses a (Sony?) Walkman and that they actually had some sort of saying in the design of the products (not sure about this either).
This time we finally (or sadly) reached the final song and this would be of course another Christmas song, âHave yourself a merry little Christmasâ. The stage was illuminated in purple and the neon tubes shone white. Hikaru sounded a lot different than her usual voice, but she sang with a lot of power. Maybe it was due to the English lyrics, but I liked it a lot, I love to see new sides of her. I also heard this song for the first time there, but I enjoyed it and the girls also had fun on stage again.
After the song ended, many people stood up and clapped. Kalafina quickly introduced the band again and joined hands to take a bow. For that they went to the edge of the stage, but suddenly burst out into laughter, because they were so close to the first row. Like really close xD I think Keikoâs dress even reached the faces of the poor/lucky dudes. The musicians left and Kalafinaâs version of âMorobito kozoriteâ started to play, a song Wakana seems to like a lot as she said that she wanted to sing this, giving the impression that they would perform this song right now. It got everyoneâs hopes high for a second, but she immediately realized the misunderstanding, causing Keiko to kneel down and laugh, because she totally did not want to sing another song anymore. Wakana said that this song always gave her special winter feelings and thanked us for coming. Then âJingle Bellsâ was played and Hikaru thanked us for coming so numerously, despite the concert being on a weekday. She also talked in Osaka dialect for a bit, very funny xD Keiko thanked us too and said that she was excited about this start of their Christmas Lives and even though it was too early, she wished us all a merry christmas. So they left the stage for good, but again veeery slowly, ending the concert.
Here are my final thoughts:
It was a wonderful wonderful concert. Although almost all of the songs did not really surprise me, which I still kinda regret, I enjoyed listening to those songs very much. It was in many terms different and even better than Zama, the amazing dresses, a slightly changed way of singing, different illuminations and the prettier hall made it all a special experience. I am really not the type of person who gets into Christmas mood and itâs not really a special time to me (and since I canât celebrate it with my family this year, itâs even less special) but damn, Kalafinaâs great performances, their own outstanding versions of Christmas song classics and the fun they had on stage, these things really made me feel it a bit xD
Congratulations, youâve made it to the end of this very long report (this became much longer than I intended to be, Iâm sorry v_v). Thank you so much for reading!
Unless Kalafina throws in some special premium stuff into January or February, then is my final concert report (I sure wonât be sitting in Budokan with my notebook when half of us are coming there anyway xD). In just half a year, I wrote 6 of them! When I entered this sweet community and realized that I was one of the very few that are able to attend these wonderful concerts, I wanted to share this experience with you, talk about it with you, as you are the only persons around me that are as obsessed with Kalafina as much as I am and the only persons that would really appreciate and understand this. No one asked me to do this, so I hope that you guys enjoyed it as much as I did. I want to apologize for any grammar/vocabulary mistakes and sometimes insufficient way of describing things (I feel like I used the same 5 adjectives over and over again). These reports are quite biased and one-sided, I focussed on details you guys might not have minded and vice-versa.
Having said that, thank you very much again for keeping up reading! I wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy, healthy, safe new year with countless new Kalafina stuff (*fingers crossed for a new album*)!
Here is for you the limited bookmark of the concert: a Christmas rose :)

Anisong Fantasy Live in SG Vol 1 Report - Beyond Phenomenal Concert!
(image cr: AFA)
!!STATUS: STILL NOT OVER THIS CONCERT!!
Itâs been two days since the concert ended and Iâm still having post concert depression. So last Saturday, I attended Anisong Fantasy Live Vol 1 in Singapore which featured stunning lineup of GARNiDELiA, ELISA, Takigawa Alisa, Luna Haruna, Kalafina & Aimer. Since the lineup featured anisong artists, Iâm quite familiar with all of them and their songs~ Also, Iâve been always a fan of Kalafina hence, it was like a dream came true when I saw them TT_TTÂ
date of event: 18th March 2017
PRE ANISONG CONCERT REPORT
The whole morning of 18th March, I couldnât focus on doing anything at all. At 4pm, I left the house and head down to the venue earlier to get some merchandise and meet up with my friends. These friends are actually Kalafina & Fictionjunction fans that I managed to contact over the net. Also if you are a fan of Kalafina/FictionJunction based in Singapore, please donât be shy and join the group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/1936347716651751
Arrived at the venue, I went straight to the merchandise section and bought - Kalafina LIVE THE BEST 2015 âRed Dayâ & âBlue Dayâ Tote Bag & âKalafina with Stringsâ Christmas Premium LIVE TOUR 2016 Plastic Folder. I wanted to get more items from the other artists but most of them are sold out ><
After that, I went ahead to meet up with my friends. Despite my first time meeting with everyone, we all managed to warm up with each other through our common interest of Kalafina. We also had a huge banner to write our messages. It was really a great sight to see that there are alot of Kalafina fans in Singapore! After everyone wrote their messages, we placed the banner at the gifts area and hoping that it will reach Kalafina safe and sound.
AS IâM WRITING THIS POST, I GOT AN UPDATE FROM KALAFINA LINE BLOG THAT THEY RECEIVED THE BANNER ;AAAA; THANK YOU KALAFINA FOR ADORING YOUR FANS.

!!Be prepared for ride of emotional feels, fangirling moment & long report!!
ANISONG CONCERT REPORT
At 6:50pm, I went to the hall to find my seat and honestly at that point of time, I couldnât contain my excitement. I was seated at the extreme left of the front row A. I had an amazing view as there wasnât any heads to block my view and a direct view on the singers! BLESS THE VIEW AND ALL THAT WAITING FOR CONCERT TICKET DURING AFA DAY 2!
In the opening, there was a special footage of ClariS concert performance. Iâm guessing that they will be one of the guest for Anisong Fantasy Live Volume 2, who knows?
GARNiDELiA
The concert kicked off with GARNiDELiA as the opening act and they really geared up the audience! With MARiAâs powerful vocals and the bandâs energetic performance, I was already in the trance! Able to see MARiA so close was an experience and sheâs extremely pretty with her stage outfit. Gokuraku Jodo is my current favourite song from GARNiDELiA and the band delivered it really well. Props to MARiA for singing and dancing to Gokuraku Jodo!
Here are the setlist for GARNiDELiA
ambiguous- Kill la Kill Opening 2
Blazing - Gundam: G Reconguista Opening 1
Yakusoku -promise Code- - Qualidea Code Ending 2
Gokuraku Jodo
ELISA
The last time I watched ELISA live was back in 2013 during AFA Valrave Night concert and being able to hear her live again was amazing. Her live vocals were simply beautiful from her performance of ex: tella to REALISM, despite having technical issue with the sound at first. Also, her English interaction to the audience were adorable!
ELISA: Are you ready for.
Audience: /silent, waiting for her to complete the sentence/
ELISA: Are you ready for⌠Are you ready forâŚ
Audience: /knowing that ELISA was stuck with her ENGLISH & cheered!/
ELISA: /laughs & looked at the band members/
Here are the setlist for ELISA
ex:tella- Fate/EXTELLA Opening 1
Real Force - To Aru Kagaku no Railgun Ending 2
REALISM - Kakumei Valvrave Ending 2
Takigawa Alisa
Beautiful voice + playing guitar = WIN! Alisaâs performance was simply beautiful as well. Alisa definitely have the next-door-girl and carefree vibe~ Hearing her songs live brings back the Nanatsu no Taizai feels!! NOW I DEMAND A PROPER THIRD SEASON PLS!!
Here are the setlist Takigawa Alisa
Season - Nanatsu no Taizai Ending 2
Irosenai Hitomi - Nanatsu no Taizai: Seisen no Shirushi Ending 1
Sayonara no Yukue - Owarimonogatari Ending 1
Luna Haruna
When Luna Haruna appeared on stage, she brought a fun vibe alongside with her! She was totally adorable with her stage outfit! She had this very lovely and bubbly personality as seen during the interaction with audience. Though I wished that she sang her debut song, Sora wa Takaku Kaze wa Utau from Fate/Zero ending. Also, she sang one of my favourite song, Startear and it was a stellar performance with strong vocals.
Here are the setlist for Luna Haruna
Overfly - Sword Art Online Ending 2
Ai Wo Utae - Monogatari Series 2nd Season Ending 1
Startear - Sword Art Online II Ending 2
Kimiiro Signal - Saekano Opening 1
SPECIAL COLLABORATION STAGE 1 - Takigawa Alisa X ELISA X Luna Haruna XÂ GARNiDELiA
Who knew that we could see such collaboration happened? The first collaboration featured Takigawa Alisa X ELISA and the second collaboration featured Luna Haruna x GARNiDELiA. I personally think that Alisa X ELISA voices doesnât really suit each other for duet but nevertheless it was a good performance. Haruna x GARNiDELiA performance was really upbeat and their voices had good chemistry. The last song for the collaboration stage 1 featured Alisa X ELISA X Haruna X MARiA and overall it was an energetic all-girl performance!!
Here are the setlist for SPECIAL COLLABORATION STAGE 1
Departures ~Anata ni Okuru Ai no Uta~ (Takigawa Alisa X ELISA) - Guilty Crown Ending 1 (EGOIST)
INNOCENCE (Luna Haruna x GARNiDELiA) - Sword Art Online Opening 2 (Eir Aoi)
Sorairo Days (Takigawa Alisa X ELISA X Luna Haruna X MARiA) - Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann OST (Shoko Nakagawa)
Aimer
AIMERâS PERFORMANCE AND VOCALS WAS SO SURREAL!!! ISTG I NEARLY TEARED HEARING HER PERFORMANCE AND IT WAS SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL. Throughout her performance, she was only accompanied by a piano and I was definitely in awe ;A; This was my 2nd time hearing Aimer live and she sounded less nervous/shaky compared to her 1st live in SG during AFA2015. As always, her English was fluent and she mentioned about loving Singaporeâs night scenery.
Aimer: I want my songs to inspire you in the future.
Overall, her performance was just pure eargasm!! I honestly donât mind if she come to Singapore for her own concert and I know I will definitely attend!!
Here are the setlist for Aimer
Brave Shine - Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works 2nd Season Opening 1
LAST STARDUST - Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works OST
StarRingChild - Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn Ending 7
Akane Sasu - Natsume Yuujinchou Go Ending 1
ninelie - Koutetsujou no Kabaneri Ending 1
Kalafina
THIS IS THE PART WHERE I HAD MY EYES BURSTING WITH TEARS! When the music started playing, my heart was literally beating in excitement. I was holding Kalafina LIVE THE BEST 2015 âBlue Dayâ Towel in that hopes that the members will take notice of it. AND THEY DID! During the encore, Keiko was saying about how she saw some fans holding Kalafina concert towel and she felt grateful towards the fans!
For the 1st song - Magia, Kalafina wore beautiful kimono-like robe and they revealed their 2nd outfit during One Light. Hikaru and Wakana were mostly at my left side of the stage. I WAS FREAKING OUT THAT HIKARU MET MY EYES DURING THE ONE LIGHT PERFORMANCE, SAW MY KALAFINA TOWEL AND SMILED!!
Kalafina closed their segment by singing Sprinter and I WAS CRYING INSIDE BECAUSE OF KARA NO KYOUKAI FEELS! I sang my heart out, following to the lyrics of the song ;AAA; KALAFINAâs performance was truly mesmerizing and given the chance to watch it live was a dream come true!!
Here are the setlist for Kalafina
Magia - Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica Ending 1
One Light - Arslan Senki (TV) Ending 2
Kimi no Gin no Niwa - Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica Movie 3 Ending 1
ring your bell - Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works 2nd Season Ending 1
Sprinter (Band Version) - Kara no Kyoukai 5: Mujun Rasen Ending 1
SPECIAL COLLABORATION STAGE 2 - Kalafina X Aimer
THIS COLLABORATION WAS SIMPLY BEYOND WORDS!! I canât describe that feeling when Kalafina and Aimer were singing each other song. Seeing them both on the same stage was honestly remarkable. IT WAS EXTRA MAGICAL AND THAT MOMENT IS SO PRECIOUS!!! I honestly canât describe how beautiful their vocals blended together ;A; Aimer started singing Believeâs first verse and when Kalafina started to harmonise, I had goosebumps!!
Their interaction with the audience was fun as well! As Aimer came for Singapore for 3 times and Kalafina only came for 2 times, Kalafina asked Aimer for any recommendation spots.
Kalafina: Do you have recommendation spots?
Aimer: Last time I came here (speaking in Japanese)
Keiko: /trying to translate Aimerâs speech through actions/ WWWW
Aimer: I went to Botanic Garden. Itâs a flower garden and it was really wild.
Kalafina: Wah, we want to go!
After the interaction, Kalafina mentioned that since Aimer sang their song so its Kalafinaâs turn to sing Aimerâs song. IT WAS ANOTHER MASTERPIECE :â)))
Here are the setlist for Kalafina X Aimer
believe (acoustic version) - Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works 2nd Season Ending 2) (Kalafina)
Anata ni Deawanakereba ~Kasetsu Touka~ - Natsuyuki Rendezvous Ending 1 (Aimer)
Kalafina x Aimer was honestly the perfect way to ended off Anisong Fantasy Live. IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY FOR THIS CONCERT!!
POST ANISONG CONCERT REPORT
I was still feeling surreal after the concert ended. Some of the audience were waiting for group photo with the anisong artists and I didnât, since my seat wasnât picked during the lucky draw ;A; But Kalafina and Aimer werenât part of the group photo so I donât feel too sad about it.Â
Anyways, this concert will forever etched in my memory. Also, VIP ticket holders were given an autographed printed poster and I shall treasure that. Below are my loots:
ALL IN ALL, ITS BEEN AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE ATTENDING THIS CONCERT. THANK YOU SOZO AND SONY MUSIC FOR MAKING THIS HAPPENED. THANK TO ALL THE ARTISTS AND BAND MEMBERS AS WELL!!~~Â
(image cr: Kalafina Line Blog)
SEE YOU GUYS IN THE NEXT BLOG POST!
PS: ALL I NEED IS A ONE-MAN KALAFINA TOUR CONCERT IN SINGAPORE!!

Kalafina Week 27 Challenge: Week 9 - Favourite and Second Favourite Song in Kalafina Winter Acoustic
Can I just put Yasashii Uta twice? I love Yasashii Uta so much. I remember first listening through the album, thinking âyeah this is pretty greatâ but then Yasashii Uta came on. I instantly just stopped what I was doing and focussed entirely on it, and it was goddamn beautiful. All three girls sound amazing here and get their time to shine and the instrumentation is relatively simple but gorgeous. It actually hit me so hard I teared up, and that practically never happens with recorded songs. I think Yasashii Uta is only the third song thatâs ever managed to do that for me, so itâs pretty special.
As for a second slot, Iâll have to go with Yasashii Uta Jingle Bells I think. The jazzy arrangement really changed my opinion on it, and the fact that the regular Jingle Bells you hear on the radio all the time I really donât like at all. For me to pick this version of it and listen to it often really shows how much I adore it and how much changing things up a bit can drastically improve a song. Iâm still impressed with the girlsâ English pronunciation as well, as with all the songs on this album actually. So yeah, Iâm picking it partially because it took a song I donât care for at all and made it amazing, and partially because itâs just really good.Â
I also have to give mention to Morobito Kozorite and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas in regards to the Christmas covers as both are great, although I enjoy pretty much all of them. They really did a great job with the covers. As for the self-covers, Sprinter and Alleluia (sans that one part of Wakana being super shrill) are probably the standouts here, although once again I enjoy them all. I just wish theyâd changed Kimi no Gin no Niwa up a little bit more, it sounds too similar to the original and doesnât have the uniqueness of the accordion that helps make it so great in the first place. Itâs a lovely version of it and all, but I was hoping for a bit more.
Honestly though I love pretty much all of this album. Itâs lovely. But yes, Yasashii Uta is love.

Kalafina Ask meme answers!!
Hello! I'm Emma (nice to meet you) and these are my answers! Thank you to @kalafinaquips / @sharkafina for creating this I've always wanted a Kalafina ask meme to exist >_< And thank you to @putschki1969 and @auctumnitas for sending me numbers!! I know I'm not super active on Tumblr but please enjoy my responses! 1) First Kalafina song? That would be Magia, as I first heard it on PMMM~ fell in love immediately, but I wasn't into Kalafina as a group until about a year later. â¨6) Favorite Kalafina B-side? I love Koibito and Gloria, but my favorite is Utsukushisa, the B-side for the Progressive single.... I feel like I'm transported to a different world when I listen to it... it's lovely! I highly recommend it, definitely in my top 10 ^^ â¨8) Favorite Kalafina look/attire? Oh boy, that's a toughie. The dresses they wore recently for the last couple of Christmas concerts totally blew me away. Other than that, I've always loved the outfits they wore for the After Eden album cover/the Symphonia PV. And the colorful set they had for the middle of the Far on the Water Live Tour! <3 9) Own any piece of merch? Unfortunately, as of right now I do not :( However, (#10) I do own almost all of their music either digitally or physically on disc! For Christmas, I got the Believe single CD (In Every Nothing and Lapis FTW) and the 8th anniversary live 2014 CD as well. Woop woop Have you ever⌠11) Attended a Kalafina live? (If so, how many?) It is my ultimate dream to go see Kalafina live someday. If only they would come to America again.... particularly on the eastern side, as I live in Virginia and have no way of getting to California â˘_⢠⨠12) Watched any of the shows/movies they have performed for?â¨Yes!! I love to watch their live performances. Please take me there lol ⨠15) Traveled out of your country for a Kalafina concert? Nopety nope, last time I was out of the country was when I was 2 and I went to Canada : ) ⨠16) Talked about Kalafina with someone else (other than the fans)? I talk about Kalafina quite frequently with my sister Abby, who must undergo my ramblings and try to stay sane as I talk forever and ever about the latest news with the girls I care so much about ^^ (sorry Abby!!! Love you to death I swear) Random Kalafina questions: 17) Whatâs your favorite fact about Kalafina? I have so many!! I really love how they were assembled piecemeal by Yuki Kajiura and it wasn't like they were all together right away! I also love reading about their different backgrounds, and the struggles they have overcome. Wakana is my favorite success story ^^ 18) Do you have any ships? (Which one if so) I ship them all with me???? Hahahahahahahaha totally not kidding but for real I ship them all platonically I will be answering all of the questions from this section :> Name a Kalafina song that⌠21) You love Um all of them. But to name one Kimi no Gin no Niwa has always held a special place in my heart â¨22) You never get tired of Destination Unknown...!!!! ⨠23) Makes you cry Must admit I've gotten misty-eyed listening to Symphonia on more than one occasion, as well as Alleluia, Kimi no Gin and Hikarifuru. ⨠24) Makes your day a whole lot better For some reason, I get a huge burst of energy when I listen to Blaze haha. Destination Unknown has the same effect on me, but honestly, different songs affect me differently at different times. One day I might say "yeah this song is cool I guess" and then the next day my life is transformed by the same song lol. Right now my jam is Love Come Down. ⨠25) You used to dislike but now love to death That would be Te to Te to Me to Me. I can't get enough of it now '_' ⨠26) You listened to over and over until you got fed up :p To the Beginning!! I learned my lesson after that and I try to space out my song listenings among different days â¨27) Can transport you to another different world with its beauty -Kimi ga Hikari ni Kaeteiku -Utsukushisa (every time) -Lapis, In Every Nothing -Destination Unknown (again sorry) -Symphonia -Anything from Madoka Magica (Magia, Kimi no Gin, etc.) -All of the Overtures and such. Al Fine in particular I love that ⨠28) Inspires you to be creative *see listed above ^^* anything that gets me in "the mood" if you know what I mean. What Kalafina member would you choose to: 29) Go shopping? I really love Wakana's style, I feel like she's very classy but cute are the same time. But Keiko would be fun too. ⨠31) Show her around your hometown? I think Hikaru would be the one to appreciate my hometown the most ^^ She's very poetic so I think she would see the beauty I see in it. â¨â¨43) Go to Disneyland/world? Please just send me to Disney with any one of them, I swear I will be happy -~- (Keiko cough) ⨠47) Help you with homework/tests?⨠Hikaru reads a lot so maybe her. â¨49) Go to a concert? I want to go to THEIR concerts lololol ⨠And that's it for me today!! I will probably do more numbers in the future :)

December 25: Wakana Activities & ăWakana Classics 2022 ď˝Christmas Specialď˝ă
Note: Okay, I know this is long overdue but I have simply not found the time and motivation to write up a detailed report ever since coming back from Japan. The trip itself was quite exhausting due to a busy schedule and being sick for almost the entire duration of my stay T_T. Then I made the huge mistake of going straight back to work on the 27th so I have just felt utterly drained for the past few weeks. Itâs a huge shame because I really didnât want to wait this long to write down my impressions. I mean, itâs hardly a âfirst impressionâ anymore if my thoughts have been marinating in my brain for nearly a month. But hey, better late than never, right? If anyone is interested, hereâs a link to my December 17 report. I am definitely planning to write reports of some of my other activities but who knows how long thatâs gonna take. Please donât hold your breath. Without further ado, letâs get to it ă(â˘ËâżËâ˘)-â
Before the Live
In the morning I went to visit Koishikawa Korakuen with a fellow Kalafina fan (Akuma from Taiwan in case some of you know her). I had already spent all of Saturday doing various Wakana activities with her so it only seemed fitting that we would dedicate the morning of the 25th to a lovely Wakana activity as well. Wakana visited this gorgeous landscape garden back in April 2022 (Source:Wakana Instagram). Koishikawa Korakuen (ĺ°çłĺˇĺžćĽ˝ĺ) is actually one of Tokyo's oldest and best Japanese gardens so I was excited to check it out. While the late winter scenery is probably the least spectacular, I can still recommend going there if you are ever in Tokyo and want an escape from the hectic city life. It was a gorgeous, sunny day so I got to take some lovely pictures and thankfully, some of the autumn colours still remained. After spending a couple of hours there and basking in the winter sun, I got a little antsy so we decided to head to the venue. In the past, most fans would try to arrive as early as possible to line up for the merch sale. However, lots of things have changed since the pandemic so venues actually discourage people from lining up early in advance. Despite knowing that we wouldnât be allowed to line up yet, I still wanted to know the venueâs exact location and check whether anyone had arrived yet. When we finally got there, no one was there except us and the door staff told us to come back in two hours XD It was super hard to find a cafĂŠ or restaurant near Kioi Hall so we had to walk all the way back to Yotsuya Station. I felt really sorry for Akuma because I dragged her back and forth, she must have been so exhausted. Guess I canât help but be one of those annoying people who are low-key control freaks and who wonât leave anything to chance. Iâd rather be 2 hours early than even 1 second too late. Anyways, at a tiny shopping mall, we found a small cafĂŠ and had some cake and coffee. We went back to the venue once we saw the first few tweets of other fans starting to line up. Most people got there around the same time so it quickly became quite crowded in front of the venue about 45 minutes before the live. I am glad we ended up being pretty far ahead in the line because I donât think the people in the back had enough time left to buy anything. It took quite a while for staff members to check our tickets and temperature. Everyone was also taking their sweet time deciding on what merch to get so there were literally only a few minutes left till the live once I had bought everything (I got the shirt/pamphlet set with the postcard, the pink gloves, the little drawstring bag and the keyholder). All items are still available in Wakanaâs Official Online Shop so be sure to get them. Â
General Impressions
Venue: This was my first time at Kioi Hall. Itâs located in a nice area near Yotsuya Station. Venue, You have to walk around 10 minutes on Sophia Dori which is a lovely thoroughfare. I hear itâs super pretty during cherry blossom season. After Opera City, this was only my second time in a classical hall in Japan. Not as big as Opera City Hall but equally impressive in terms of acoustics and grandeur. But oh boy, they really could have lowered the temperatures, it was boiling hot inside. I donât know how people managed to sit there with their winter coats fom beginning to end. I was literally melting and I didnât even wear a warm winter jacket. Kioi Hall is a rather intimate venue with a capacity of about 800 seats. None of the balcony seats were occupied iirc but we managed to fill out pretty much the entire central ground floor. So yeah, definitely not a sold-out concert but very well attended nonetheless (which obviously made me happy because I still recall her Voice tour where they had picked venues that were way too big for Wakanaâs fanbase). Outfit: Her dress didnât impress me all that much to be honest. The bold red looked lovely on her but the basic A-line was a little too plain for my taste. No lace, no embroidery, no frills, no layers, no sparkles... I am also not a big fan of straps when it comes to evening dresses. Wakana has the most beautiful shoulders, itâs a crime to not show them off. In my opinion, she should always wear something that is off-shoulder, preferably a majestic ball gown. The highlight of the dress was definitely the back (as seen on the image above). Whenever she turned around to have a little sip of her water we were blessed with the most gorgeous sight.*drools* Wakana truly has a beautiful back and itâs rare that we get to see so much of it XD. Ticket System: As you may know, Iâve had a few issues with SKIYAKI but at the end of the day I have to admit that it is an extremely convenient service. All steps were foreigner friendly and I didnât run into any issues with the app. Still, I canât recommend it with a clear conscience because of what happened with my credit card T_T As you know, I got a Christmas Special Fan Club ticket and I was pretty lucky with my assigned seat. Row 4, smack in the middle with a perfect view at Wakana. Thankfully no tall people in front of me.Fun fact, right in front of me there was a woman who wore one of Wakanaâs dresses, the EXACT same one I had brought to Japan with the intention of wearing it at the concert. However, a few days earlier I had found Wakanaâs red checkered pants and ended up buying them so of course I couldnât help but wear them to the live. Still, I found it funny that someone had the same idea. She also wore Kalafinaâs pinky ring so she was clearly a super obsessed fan.I am still wondering what her username is on Twitter. I guess she must be following me if she knows about all this fashion stuff. Arghhh, I wish I had approached her after the live but as always, I was way too socially inept... Cameras: I am pretty sure I mentioned it already but there were a lot of cameras all across the hall. Not just the tiny ones which are used for news reports and such. They had a whole-ass camera crew on-site. No idea what they are planning to do. Either we will be getting a broadcast sponsored by BS Fuji or they will use the footage for a home video release. They might also add the footage (or at least parts of it) as bonus content for Wakanaâs 3rd album. Letâs keep our fingers crossed. Thereâs no way they hired all those cameramen and equipment for nothing. Vocals: For the most part, Wakana was in great shape. Itâs such a pleasure to hear her in a classical hall accompanied by strings and piano. And honestly, a couple of these acoustic arrangements were out of this world. So freaking good! I feel like her microphone was maybe a bit too loud at times or the instruments were simply too quiet but it didnât really take away from my enjoyment. Plus, they can always fix that with a bit of studio magic if they really end up releasing the concert. Nevertheless, Iâd really like to have more strings in future concerts, just to add a little more oomph. Maybe I am the only one but I feel like I need at least a string quartet XD Setlist: Overall, I was quite happy with the setlist since it contained all three of her new songs and some of my faves but I probably would have made some changes if the choice had been up to me. Canât lie but I was hoping and praying for âbreathingâ as intro. Instead we got âYakusoku no Yoakeâ which is always nice, donât get me wrong, but meh, we already have a performance of it on DVD/BD and letâs be real here, âbreathingâ is the superior song, at least in my opinion. Am I the only one who is kinda growing tired of âAi ni Dekiru Koto wa mada aru kaiâ? I feel like the song doesnât have a standard ballad structure so itâs quite hard for me to get into it, especially considering its crazy length. Personally, I would have much preferred her to sing âInochi no Namaeâ or âKimi wo Noseteâ from her Cover Album. Also had my issues with âNagareboshiâ. I donât outright dislike this song but it has always been a bit of a snoozer so naturally. I wasnât overly excited when she announced she would be singing it as her final song. I mean, it kinda works as a wrap-up for the evening but I would have honestly killed to hear an acoustic version of âAi no Hanaâ, itâs literally the perfect winter song!! Such a missed opportunity, I feel robbed.T_T Last but not least. letâs talk about her Kalafina song choice. Wakana often manages to pick my least favourite Kala-songs but I realise that I am pretty much alone with that opinion, especially regarding âKimi no Gin no Niwaâ which is obviously a fan-favourite. To her credit, she pulled it off well but ughhh, I cannot stand that song. I am still salivating when I think about her 2018 Symphony Orchestra Concert where she performed âKimi ga Hikari ni Kaete Ikuâ. Who do I have to bribe to get something like this on DVD/BD??!!Â
Song-specific thoughts
M01 ç´ćăŽĺ¤ćă(Yakusoku no Yoake): As mentioned earlier, I was low-key hoping for âbreathingâ but I really like âYakusoku no Yoakeâ so itâs not like I was disappointed or anything. It might even be one of my favourite tracks from her 1st album. The beginning always blows me away, itâs by far the best part of the song and Wakana knocks it out of the park every single time. However, I think that some sections of the song arenât particularly flattering to Wakanaâs vocals. I know for a fact that she can handle much higher parts but I guess itâs the singing style she keeps using for this song hat makes it sound like she is out of her comfort zone. Oh well, she still does a decent job of powering through those sections. Overall, I quite enjoyed the performance and thought it was a fitting intro.
M02 442: Absolutely blown away by the acoustic arrangement and Wakanaâs powerful performance. They better release the video footage soon because I am dying to hear this again. I am telling you, she SLAYED! â442âł is undoubtedly one of her best songs that highlights all of her strengths as a singer so itâs always a joy to listen to it.
M03 ăŞăŹăłă¸ (Orange): Yet another lovely arrangement. Much better than the studio version if you ask me. I canât remember any details but I definitely liked it.
M04  ĺ¤çźă (Yuuyake): Initially I did not care much for this song but every time I hear it live, I fall more and more in love with it. Itâs just so precious.
M05 myself: Oh yes!! Jackpot! This was utterly beautiful. Itâs the type of ballad Wakana excels in, when all that tragedy is laid on thick and you are being hit right in the feels. Hearing it in a classical setting makes it even more heart-wrenching.
M06 ćăŤăŻćăŽčŠąăďźToki ni ha Mukashi no Hanashi wo): This will never get old. Thereâs a reason they chose this song to promote Wakanaâs cover album and itâs because itâs such a perfect fit for her.
M07 ćăŤă§ăăăă¨ăŻăžă ăăăăďźAi ni Dekiru Koto wa mada aru kai): I guess I already shared my thoughts about this. I think Wakana really likes the song so I feel kinda bad for not being into it. Maybe itâs because I never watched the film? The lyrics are lovely but the song just doesnât resonate with me. Or rather, I have to be in the right mood for it to resonate with me. Isolated, I believe it can be quite powerful. Despite its understated nature there is a bit of a build-up after all. But it falls a little flat for me if you place the song right after a bunch of other ballads.
M08 ĺăŽéăŽĺşďźKimi no Gin no Niwa): Well, it was unfortunately the wrong Kalafina-âKimi~â song for me but hey, what can you do about it? Whatever my thoughts might be about this particular song, I truly appreciate the fact that Wakana still makes a conscious effort to include Kalafina pieces in her setlists because on the one hand, she wants to honour that legacy and on the other hand, she knows that it will make her audience happy. During the MC leading up to the performance she actually explained how picking a Kalafina song is always the most difficult part of putting her setlists together. Overall, it was a solid performance. She did quite well covering the other parts.
M09 Winter Wonderland: I definitely did not think that Wakana would sing this. Maybe itâs because I didnât grow up with them but I have a bit of an aversion to most Anglo-American Christmas songs (including this one) so when she announced the title of the upcoming song, I felt more than a little disappointed. Especially since I had no idea how it would fit her singing style. However, I am happy to report that I was proven wrong. This far exceeded my expectations and it actually turned out to be a very enjoyable performance. I would say this was only the second song of the night (after â442âł) where we got to hear a more fierce and daring approach by Wakana. Still not a fan of the song but damn, Wakanaâs version sounds good!
M10 Silent Night: Now we are talking. A Christmas song I actually like. And as expected, Wakana nailed it. I mean, she was literally born to sing songs like this. With everyone always comparing Wakanaâs singing to an angelâs voice falling down from the heavens itâs only natural to think that she would do an amazing job with Christmas carols and hymns. A little nitpicking though, I wasnât fully invested in the arrangement which may or may not have been a bit too pop-ish, I donât know.
M11 ć¨ (Shirushi): I was really hoping that we would get to hear this brand-new song and I am so glad that my wish came true. Knowing the entire backstory to this and having Wakana share a few bits and pieces again during the concert really made it very hard for me not to cry like a little baby. For those who donât know yet, this is basically a daughterâs declaration of love to her father (Wakanaâs father passed away not too long ago). This song was more or less custom-made for this occasion so it hits a little closer to home than others. While I cannot relate at all to a strong father-daughter relationship, this still hit me right in the feels. I did expect something woeful with heavy strings but it was actually quite understated. Filled with a lot of gratitude and pride. I wish I could say more about it but itâs so hard for me to recall details of a song that I have only listened to once. If I had to compare it, I would probably say it comes closest to âAto Hitotsuâ as far as the overall sound is concerned. It is longer though.
M12 ććĽă夢čŚăŚćă (Asu wo Yume Mite Utau): I was of course super excited to also finally listen to Wakanaâs other new song. This however was a bit of a letdown if I am being honest. It was written by Satoshi Takebe whose collabs with Wakana are always a bit of a hit-and-miss for me. Itâs like âKimi dake no Stageâ 2.0. If you enjoy that song you will also like âAsu wo Yume Mite Utauâ I think. The emotion is all there in the lyrics and I can feel what kind of message Wakana is trying to convey to us but meh, the song doesnât quite hit the mark for me. Fun fact: For the longest time I thought it was âAshitaâ in the title but itâs actually âAsuâ.
M13 Flag: Another absolutely gorgeous acoustic arrangement that really blew me away. Right up there with â442âł and âWinter Wonderlandâ in terms of fierceness.
M14 Happy Hello Day: Canât believe this was the first time hearing the song live at a venue. Experiencing it right there while breathing the same air is so much different than just watching it on a live stream. As much as I appreciate the influx of online broadcasts, nothing beats the euphoria of actually being there at the venue and enjoying a song that makes you feel so incredibly connected with your favourite artist. I truly had a blast during this performance.
EC01 č¨ćśăŽäşş (Kioku no Hito): What a pleasant surprise. I am very much in love with this song and itâs definitely among my favourite Wakana solo songs so I can never get enough of it. Beautiful performance.
EC02 magic moment: A bit on the fence about it. We all know that I am not the biggest fan of the songâs structure, it starts really melodious with its symphonic grandeur but then it somehow become quite messy to my ears. I canât explain it very well but there is just a lack of flow. However, that doesnât mean that I cannot appreciate Wakanaâs vocal prowess in it. Just thinking back to her performance during the âmagic momentâ live tour gives me goosebumps (although I obviously only ever experienced it on blu-ray). I would say that performance still remains her best one yet. This one wasnât quite as epic but maybe thatâs just because of the added studio magic in the blu-ray.
Fan Club Exclusive Part
Very happy to see that almost everyone had bought a special Christmas ticket. At the end of the main part of the concert, audience members were asked to leave the hall if they didnât have a fan club ticket and only a handful of people actually left. Still surprised that they just trusted us to be honest about this. Typical Japanese mindset I guess. I mean, people could have just remained at their seats, no one would have checked their tickets again. However, I think they had most people with regular tickets seated in the back area so it was easier for staff members to figure out who was required to leave. At this point none of us knew what to expect but I had a feeling we would get a special encore. When Wakana and her musicians returned to the stage in their cute Christmas getup I was pleasantly surprised to realise that we would be getting a little talk corner. Mind you, it wasnât anything super special, just some random small talk among them, they all basically just shared some Christmas anecdotes but hey, it was fun. I vaguely remember Wakana talking about trying to find the perfect colour for a new winter coat but she ended up with a boring grey one XD I had almost given up hope that they would perform another song when their talk just kept going on and on. It was already way past the scheduled time for the live to end so I thought we would run out of time. But then Wakana surprised us all by announcing that they still had a short performance in store for us. Until the very last moment I had hoped that I would get to hear âAi no Hanaâ but alas, it wasnât meant to be. As mentioned earlier, I wasnât too thrilled about âNagareboshiâ but it was a fitting send-off. I believe everyone thought that this would be it but when we left the hall, we were all given a paper bag containing even more awesome goodies. Our Christmas present from Wakana was made up of a postcard with a handwritten message and signature as well as a pretty glass fitting perfectly into her series of previously released glasses. *weeee* All of this was definitely worth the extra money. If you ever wonder if itâs worth going for pricier tickets, hereâs your answer: It absolutely is! You typically get a lot of bang for your buck so always go for the expensive option if you have the means. And I am actually so glad that the Christmas present didnât turn out to be a fugly t-shirt, I am just not a t-shirt person.
After the Live
One of my Twitter followers had arranged a dinner/after-party with a bunch of fellow Kala-fans. While I am most definitely not very fond of large gatherings like this, it wasnât too bad. We had some tables reserved at a Chinese restaurant nearby. In celebration of Wakanaâs live, we wanted to eat a ton of gyoza and xiao long bao. It was delicious! Sadly I didnât get to eat all that much because I left quite early (I mean, it felt late to me but who knows how long the others stayed). I was flying back to Vienna the following day so I wanted to get at least a few decent hours of sleep.

Thanks for the ask! I already thought no one was gonna do it sobs
Here goes
6) Favorite Kalafina B-side? Â Uhhh a toughie. I guess In Every Nothing is rocking me now. And Mahiru. I guess strong feelings from seeing it live also plays a role.
9) Â Own any piece of merch? Yes, some. FOTW vocal scores, mini posters from that tour, live pamphlet as well, Gogatsu hand towel, FOTW hoodie. Christmas live 2015 postcard set, plus few posters and tokuten if that counts. And a Consolation live tour pamphlet.
10) Â Own any physical albums/singles? Â All albums except the best ones. That including the live selections as well. As for the singles, only RYB vinyl edition.
11) Attended a Kalafina live? (If so, how many?) Â Attended live in Paris 2014, and FOTW Special Finals in Japan 2016.
15) Â Traveled out of your country for a Kalafina concert? Â Lol kinda answered that question up above. Both those were out of my country, Japan being technically the other side of the world :P Â And yes, if it werenât for Kalafina, I wouldnât go to Japan that soon, so itâs all thanks to them
16) Â Talked about Kalafina with someone else (other than the fans)? Â Yes. Sometimes I even awakened the curiosity too :D
18) Â Do you have any ships? (Which one if so) Â Hiikei, stand high.
23) Â Name a Kalafina song that makes you cry. Â Hmmm, there might be choices. Hikaru Furu made me shed a tear live in Paris, Mahiru and Seventh Heaven moved me very much in FOTW SF lives. Sprinter does move me for some certain reasons. From the newcomers, Yasahsii Uta can make me cry too.
25) Name a Kalafina song that you used to dislike but now love to death. Alleluia? Well I didnât dislike it, just wasnât so thrilled with it. But now, oh my. Also Yami no Uta. I didnât much like it, but seeing it live gave me a whole new perspective and respect.
31)  What Kalafina member would you choose to show her around your hometown? I see Wakana being enthusiasticâŚbut Hikaluuuu /hit

There were a lot of cameras on-site so I am expecting a home video release or at the very least a lot of coverage as some sort of bonus content for Wakanaâs upcoming 3rd album. There was no official announcement at the event though which is quite disappointing.

All About the Christmas SpecialâăThank you for 2022ďźă
Thank you very much to everyone who came to see my "Wakana Classics 2022 ~Christmas Special~" held at Kioi Hall on Christmas Day! シ:*+.\((°Ď°))/.:+ I had a blastďźźďźź\\ŮŠ (=´âď˝)äşş(´âď˝=)Ů //// To be able to share music with all of you at Kioi Hall on such a special day as December 25th...this is truly what happiness means!! ď¸â¨(T-T)â¨
Here are some pictures of the stage from the side. When everyone was in their Santa set-up after the main performance, it was an exclusive part of the event for those who bought a special ticket.
I chose a bright red dress this year (*'â˝'*) The skirt was super long ďźź(^o^)ďźAnd my hair was arranged in a gorgeous manner! \(^o^)/ My Santa costume looked like this (*'â˝'*) I put on a cape and a mini Santa hat hairpin đ§âđđâ¨
Starting with this concert, we decided to change the title to "Wakana Classics" (^-^) Up until now, this was a concert focusing on covering songs based on my album "Wakana Covers ~Anime Classics~" but from now on, I want to sing more of my original songs in a classical arrangement so a title change seemed fitting. I want everyone to experience the fun and new arrangements that are only possible in such a classical setting, even if it's just my own songs (^-^)
Once again, I was moved by the beauty of Kioi Hall's acoustics, the profound feeling felt throughout the mysterious atmosphere of the venue, through the seats, the doors, the ceiling and the stage. The sounds we created with our voices and instruments were enveloped in the warmth of the wood throughout the venue and carried across the air, turning the music both delicate and powerful. I dream of being able to meet everyone again at that venue (*^^*) Thank you for everything ! *シďžďžď˝Ľ*:.・..・.:*シ '(*ďžâ˝ďž*)'シ*:.・. .・.:*シďžďžď˝Ľ*
Only a few more days left of 2022. I am full of gratitude to all of you. This year I started working on a new album and I shall head towards next year with a bunch of new feelings that will be incorporated in the making of said album (^-^) I want next year to be a lot of fun and I want to share my music with everyone!
Everyone, please take care of your health and have a Happy New Year ďźź(^-^)ďź See you next year~â( *'â˝'*)/
