Yeah I think I am officially done with the Helluva boss critical community… for good.

Before you guys flip your shit and accuse me of being a Stan, let me explain.

So I deleted my tumblr app and decided just to refreshen my mind and focus on other things. (Like my art, my own possible indie project, ect ) and being away for a while… it kind of made me realize how much of the critical community was becoming too much for my mental health.

Originally, I joined because season 2 disappointed with season 2, didn’t like how Vivziepop retconned things like the pilot, the possible workplace allegations, and of course… the fandom being super toxic as hell work promoting toxic positivity.

But holy shit…. Somehow the critical community is even worse than the fandom.

Like I swear nobody talks about what’s wrong with this community. I’ve seen blogs have such an unhealthy hatred to Viv where they post nonstop about her… it’s insane. Like when making account names “wah I hate Vivziepop”

Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t think all critical blogs act like this. I do in fact still follows few, only thing is the ones I follow don’t constantly whine and bitch all the time and actually do critique. And these reblogs I follow just do AUs, rewrites, and redesigns which to me I will always see as harmless fun since that’s what I wanna do.

As for the other half of criticals…. Hell, these people legit get mad and share screenshots making fun of fans with different opinions. Like, bruh, didn’t you guys get angry at stans for doing that to y’all? You guys are literally doing the exact same thing. And no I’m not talking about sharing screenshots of toxic fans that attack former employees and make excuses for a questionable workplace…. But like they’ll just mock fans that didn’t do anything bad.

I’m all for critiquing a fandom and there are Stans that have such an unhealthy parasocial relationships with Viv… but somehow I see people acting the same with their unhealthy hate obsession. Literally going through her IG and bitching and moaning…

Seeing people making assumptions about her and Gooseworks with the glitch x as well as Tracy just shows me how unhealthy this hate is becoming.

Yes, Viv and Tracy had a bit of a heated thing on Twitter. However, I don’t think it’s fair to assume she’s this evil evil hellspawn that’s plotting to destory glitch x. “She’s kissing ass to goodeworks with her fake smile” dude she’s probably a fan of their works, you really don’t know that.

Also, while I’m aware of the allegations concerning Salem (who I hope really recovers and they did really make this episode the best IMO)… it’s probably not fair to assume all employees get treated the same way… the only people that seem to know what went down are Erin, Ken, Salem, and Ashley Nicolas. Do I think the workplace abuse is possible? Yes, it’s why I haven’t bought any merch.

BUT the reason why I don’t like to discuss things like this is because half of the other stuff seems like flimsy evidence besides Salem’s vents. And I think it’s a bit risky to spread such misinformation and make assumptions. (One blog I’ve seen had so many anons sharing rumors and just go along with them which to me is dangerous…)

Like when the new episode aired, unlike everyone else, I actually loved it. This recent episode was so great it’s what I wanna see more of for Helluva boss. But eh… I noticed some haters bitch for the sake of it. Now, some of the critiques aren’t too bad, I did notice some flaws and I understand the concerns for salem. But like other half it’s just bitching for the sake of it…

Also I heard rumors how the deranged stalker fan of Fizz is a parody of critical blogs… tbh I highly doubt that because that trope always existed in cartoons (like Aggrestuko had one too) but considering a good chunk of “criticals” have a hate boner for viv, can you blame some fans for thinking that?

I really don’t like how the critical community became the anti community. Because not every critical person is an anti, I don’t even wanna fuck with that shit and I don’t ever wanna resort to that.

Hell, they drove one critical blog I loved away… over a bad miscommunication.🙃 and that blog was right, you don’t wanna make friends with this community with how some toxic people are.

Also I’ve been drawing a lot of Hazbin hotel stuff for my Heaven AU and it reminded me why I enjoyed Vivziepop’s ideas and stories so much. It somehow was helping me take edge away from my mental health.

I think it’s possible to still be a fan without labeling yourself as a stan or anti. That’s why I made this blog for. I was so worn out by the toxic positivity of the fandom, so this is my comfort space. But now I need to cut the critical community away since it’s now full of toxic negativity.

And as I said, I do plan to make an indie cartoon series and I feel like being part of this critical community is NOT gonna make me professional on my end. That being said, I don’t like Viv as she said things that rubbed me the wrong way BUT I’m not gonna let that kill my joy for Hazbin hotel.(and Helluva boss to an extent) I do think she has good ideas and they CAN work but she does need more writers than animators to help her execute them.

That’s why I’m only a bit more excited for Hazbin hotel lately

Now I’m not angry at anyone who followed me. I just wanna make some boundaries, and that being said, I’m still gonna critique both shows. However, I’m just gonna tag these posts as HH/HB critiques than HH/HB critical for now on. I feel like that’s more professional and more genuine if you wanna share opinions on stuff.

ok i'm doing it: ep2 (mostly unpopular) opinions. it's so fucking long i'm putting it under a readmore lol YOU'VE BEEN WARNED

topmew have bewitched me body and soul. i love everything about them. i was so into the idea of them being "toxic" (fandom has ruined that word, i reallllly hate it but it applies here) but hilariously, i think they're the least toxic relationship in the show (if you don't count aprilcheum): they talk about their feelings and boundaries, they go on dates, they genuinely care about and are interested in each other as people. and they want to have sex!!!!! but on mew's timeline, which i like. i love their dance and how flirty they are.

top's trauma is both heartbreaking and unique. it's great writing and it feels like there was a lot of thought put into it. force's acting is incredible. he really looks like a scared little boy and before he admits he can't sleep alone he's got a look on his face like he's scared he's going to be laughed at. because he has been laughed at :( even mew laughs at him (which i kind of liked tbh it was a really honest reaction and i like that he apologized for it). he could have made it into a sob story and told mew when he was trying to sleep in his bed with him, but he only admitted to it when asked and didn't try to ask again about sleeping beside mew, which i think says a lot about him. my son is a good person. as always, forcebook know how to make a scene feel Real.

mew is hot. that's all.

ok actually, mew is fascinating (but not because he's a puppet master🙄 i'm now 100% sure he's not, why would he be lying in his non-diegetic literary device confessional?? please). he is very perceptive (so is top tbh), but boston seems to be a bit of a blindspot (for both of them). i had a suspicion that mew knew that top and boston hooked up, but now it seems like he might not - and he took it at face value when boston lied about top dumping him once they have sex 🤔

i rly tried to think about this but i generally am a character liker.. like i guess nate from fried tasso, though i wouldn't say i LOVE him. i haven't been watching the show lately though bc i find the quality has been lacking and i have like. maybe 20% interest to watch, wah

also adachi from persona 4 i guess. he's my favorite misogynist and i think he's better than akechi from p5 in terms of like. idk flair and stinkiness which makes him interesting

13) worst blorboficiation

this question is terrible for me because i usually am doing the blorboification-- i'm a sucker for hurt / comfort and the sensation of like, reading a character completely break down and someone being like, hey it's chill just Does Something To Me. i used to love this trope so much i would read fuckin anything, even if the char who was going "oh it's chill" was being widely OOC or the pairing was straying into toxic dependency territory even tho the author obviously meant it as romantic. i know other people reading h/c experience the Sensation but for me it's just like. such a whole body experience LMAO

i think the answer for this for me would have to be loki, though.. like a lot of the fics i read during pandemic about him kind of slot in the area i describe above. i can see it's charms and how it can be comforting (because it was to me, during that time) but it just makes me wince to the point where i'll dig through my bookmarks and then get to the point where i was going a bit back to loki and then be like, fuck, i can't really feel like i like this anymore.

18) it’s absolutely criminal that the fandom has been sleeping on…

gen fic / character studies i think. like i read a lot of ship fic (or used to) but i think the ones that stick out in my head the most are the ones that flesh out something new about canon rather than repeating tropes. it's a tough line to walk because sometimes i'll read a fic and it sometimes reads as self-insert, but when you find one that connects to canon and does the character justice? i am slamming my hand on the desk. i am flailing. i am going apeshit.

i think i've read like 3 fics that qualify under this tier and they're probably my favorite, like i can still remember them after like fuckin YEARS.

the You fandom needs to STFU about "hating Guinevere Beck = victim blaming, WAH."

In the book, sure, she was an asshole, but she was paradoxically a better character. The show tried to make her a ✨relatable everygirl✨, but instead they made this self-absorbed, flaky, tactically inept, lying, cheating, whiny twit who couldn't find a way out of a wet paper bag. Quite frankly, trying to pass someone like her off as an "everygirl" is insulting to real women. And you know what, yeah, there ARE a lot of ways she could have avoided being unalived by Joe, and calling her out on tactical ineptitude is NOT the same as saying she """deserved""" what happened. I don't care if she did or didn't, but I WAS cheering when Love Quinn said Beck was unremarkable and mediocre.

When we first met Beck, she showed some signs of intelligence and likability that sadly didn't last past a couple episodes. She had a steady job, was working her ass off, showed some serious balls to the professor who was acting inappropriately towards her, and it was easy to root for her. When Joe started stalking her and acting like he was the lead in a romantic comedy, yeah the show did a good job of pointing out how those types of comedies can influence toxic behavior on impressionable minds.

but dear GOD that girl was so up her own ass! I do feel like Joe genuinely tried to help her at some points, sure for selfish reasons, but I honestly don't care about those. He kept house for her, cooked for her, threw her this gorgeous theme party and baked her a really thoughtful cake. He even vouched for her and got her a job at his place of work, which she couldn't even BOTHER to attempt to do properly. It's understandable that she would need SOME time off from doing anything to mourn her friend's death, but I genuinely don't think that's what was going on there. I think she was being a flake and grasping for anything to use as an excuse to avoid taking responsibility. She didn't get her worked turned in on time for the lady professor even though Blythe did EVERYTHING in her power to help her (side note: "the most analog princess in the land" would use a pen and paper, NOT A TYPEWRITER). This chick just didn't want to be helped and I cannot overemphasize how much I HATE that type. A lot of her problems were her own damn fault because play stupid games = win stupid prizes.

Was Joe a dumbass for aliven't-ing people close to her? Yes; she would realistically be considered a suspect, and don't even get me started on him TAKING A CALL WHILE TRYING TO HIDE A BODY. (They're both tactically inept but I can rant about Joe in another post.) But up to a point he did care about her, and I believe he did trust her to a degree and she betrayed that trust.

Now, sleeping with her therapist HAHAHAHAHA okay MAYBE he took advantage of her because blah blah blah position of power blah blah (although another fandom I'm in has probably warped my view regarding that). But she didn't even have the grace to act ashamed or even try to pin it on him for taking advantage of her. That makes me think she CHOSE to cheat on Joe. And if memory serves, this was right after she'd gotten back WITH Joe after helping him cheat on Karen. He was 100% correct to suspect her. Now, following her to verify it, that's a moral grey area (hey, the internet remembers what those are, right?), but she was WAY more concerned that he was """following""" her than the fact that SHE was doing something that hurt him and got caught doing it. (And I'm not absolving him of responsibility; he fucked up, too, a lot, but again, that's for another post.)

Why the FUCK did she feel the need to go snooping in the ceiling after she was so freaked out about him following her (aka invading her ✨privacy, wah✨)? When you snoop, you might find things you don't like. It's an occupational hazard of being FUCKING NOSY. (I would know! 😃 )

Her reaction to what was in the box was... average. Can't fault her for that. But the way she HANDLED IT OMG. Like... What Joe was doing was absolutely not normal, but she should have KNOWN hey, this guy is fucking obsessive and crazy at this point! Maybe being fidgety and super obvious about trying to get away, and ALERTING HIM TO THE FACT THAT YOU'RE TRYING TO GET AWAY, IS A STUPID IDEA!!! Literally she could have just said, "Hey... I'm SO sorry but I accidentally broke your jar. I promise I'll buy you another one. In fact, we can go shopping now if you want." & then give him the slip at the store using the ladies' room or whatever. Now with that  being said, no, she didn't """deserve""" to be knocked out and wake up in a cage, but I'm not sure how the fuck she expected her super obvious attempt to leave (when he was SURE to discover what happened) would work in her favor. Dumbass!

Waking up in the cage. Okay, here's where my personal tactics diverge from what's considered a "normal reaction". I actually pitched a "wake up in a cage" plot to a friend to use with our frenemy characters. Maybe this shows a lack of diversity on my part, but I'm pretty sure EVERY single one of my characters would have the sense to pretend it's a romantic vacation. She clearly knew that's how he wanted to be perceived. Failing that, she could have played dumb (I'm not sure why that was hard for her since she legit IS DUMB).

"Joe? Honey? Uh... what's going on? Did you bring the pancakes?"

or

"Hey, I'm sorry I broke your jar, but don't you think this is an overreaction?"

or literally something else innocuous like that.

Playing into his desire to hear what he wanted-- FUCKING EVENTUALLY, IT TOOK HER GODDAMN LONG ENOUGH-- was a smart move, but she overplayed her hand and screaming at him about being a """psycho""" or whatever 🙄🙄🙄 probably just motivated him to deathify her faster because obviously he'd get defensive & be in denial about that shit. Calling a psycho a psycho rarely works out in your favor just FYI.

Pretty sure she had him knocked out at one point, so like... she could have Removed him as a Threat permanently but she didn't and that was also a tactical error on her part. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS make sure you finish a job like that if you think your life is at risk.

Anyway it's like 3:00 a.m. and I'm rambling about a show I honestly loved at first, but GOD!!! BECK IS THE WORST JOE GIRL IN THE SHOW. Book Beck at least had some COMMON FUCKING SENSE and she had a better chance at surviving her captivity. It actually made me SAD that Book Beck didn't, but Show Beck I was just fuckin rooting for Joe to pest control her ass already.

 (Marienne is my favorite but ONLY after I saw her showing some serious fortitude in season 4.) I adored Love the first time I saw season 2 but then the second time it was like ehhhhh being the whiny brand of manipulative was really unnecessary, and good GOD did the writers lose track of her character in season 3! I don't even know if 2 Love and 3 Love were the same PERSON! And, no, you can't put all those fuckin changes on post-partum.  Post-partum affects aspects of your mood and behavior; it does NOT change your entire fucking personality. I miss the fun, carefree, obsessive but adorable about it Love from like the first few episodes of season 2 before the whinging and mind games set in. And, seriously? They didn't need to make her first husband's demise not-an-accident. I was fine with thinking he died from illness, but learning retroactively about her paralyzing a MUTE MAN WHO USES HIS HANDS TO TALK just felt... weird. Also how the FUCK did Ms. "LA runs deep in these veins" make friends with someone like Sherry and cut out Sunshine, Sunshine's wife forget-her-name, and GABE???? Should be fuckin criminal. I think those three kept her grounded.

And the Season 4 girl was... ehhh she gave him useful resources and took his crazy in stride, but idk she's otherwise forgettable. I don't even remember her name (nor can I be assed to look it up). I think it might have been Kate, but don't quote me on that. I didn't like her overall personality.

And yeah I'm bitching about a LOT of the women in the show, so let's name some ladies I liked.

- Blythe. Super pretentious but in similar ways to me, and she's cultured and intelligent enough to get away with it. Also she DID do her utmost to help Beck, and her romance with Ethan is completely adorable.

- Peach to a degree. Her actress is hot, and while she wanted to keep Beck as a pet, she was also pretty generous about helping her. Her love for Beck was equally as obsessive as Joe's, but you know what? She knew Beck longer and in addition to being a closeted lesbian, she struck me as borderline with some of her reactions to things, and that's GENUINELY relatable, not "teehee tv execs think this is relatable!"

- ANNIKA. Annika is the absolute best girl in season 1. I adore her and I'm glad she survived. I wish we'd seen more of her because omg her personality was absolutely perfect.

- Sunrise, completely adorable, sweet, and supportive.

- Ellie's a kid, but for the most part she had her shit handled. Her bratty teenage moments were entirely realistic and didn't detract from her characterization at all.

- like I said, I adored Love at first... until she started treating Joe like everything he did was wrong.

- trying to think of any girls I liked from season 3 and coming up completely blank. I did enjoy a few of the male characters and one of the actors who plays my favorite Canon Love Interest in another show was in it. Season 3 Marienne was pretty meh, but I don't think I hated her or anything.

- in season 4 OH MY GOODNESS Phoebe! Phoebe is everything! I'm SO GLAD she survived!!!

- Nadia was okay. She's so close to Ellie's age that the way Joe treated her was pretty shocking to me 😕 I guess once they're 18+ they're fair game.

- And like I said, Marienne won major points with me for her strength and resilience.

Anyway this has been my late night/early morning rant about why Beck made terrible decisions. And again let me stress - I don't think she DESERVED to be tortured or exterminatus'd. I do, however, think Joe's reactions to her behavior were 100% realistic.

I just remembered how some people (they know who they are) like to call Izuku "stalker", specifically Katsuki's "stalker" when... he's totally not.

Observant, yes.

But stalker?

This kid doesn't even follow people to their houses, steal clothes or make phone calls so he can just breathe on the other end and hang up.

At best, he was around Katsuki as little kids because THEY DID LIVE IN THE SAME AREA, HELLO. But as they got older? It is clearly shown he was a loner. He was outcasted. By coincidence, he was in the same area when the Sludge Villain attacked Katsuki.

Hell, even once they get to Yuuei, we see Izuku making his own friends and shows no sign of being jealous of Katsuki having relationships with Kirishima or the other kids. He even acknowledges it. Even with Kaminari, he doesn't tell him not to call Katsuki "Kacchan", which Kaminari doesn't even do often.

In class, he doesn't even seem to care that he's sitting behind Bakugou. He's just there! You know how in those films where the girl is conveniently seated behind her crush and she swoons? Yeah, I haven't seen Izuku do that. He just pays attention to whatever teacher is teaching the lesson and even when class is out of session, he's joining in other conversations or thinking about his training.

And it's not like Katsuki is the only one Midoriya takes notes on. Notably, his kicks are Iida-inspired and later he even takes a page out of Asui's book. Also, hello, he is also an All Might fan and his (punching) moves are literally the same moves as All Might's, just with a twist.

At best, Midoriya is just curious and takes in information like it's cake. He asks questions, he pays attention. The content of why he does it isn't ill-intent. He's a student and learning as a student does. Be it math or heroics.

But "stalker"?

Oh no. I don't know about ya'll, but it wasn't Midoriya listening in on other people's conversations. I'm just saying.

Really I just think it's anti - BkDks and anti - Midoriya’s (can't believe they even exist) throwing in something to make their own faves and ships look better.

If anything, it just damages the value of the characters (be it a character you like or hate) and story because people just can't handle that there is a ship others like other than their own. Oh, how awful!

Seriously though, Izuku doesn't have to be your favorite character nor do you have to practically care for him, but calling him "stalker" is so far-fetched to me. Just my opinion. He ain't an obstacle to your ship, chill. It's not some competition or whatever, relax.

Also, I remember seeing how someone saying that BkDks are trying to force Izuku and Katsuki to be friends or more or something along those lines. I don't really remember and don't care to. Just...

When the hell was this and what side of the fandom were you on?

Last time I checked, shippers don't have no power over what THE CREATOR, KOHEI HORIKOSHI, does with his damn story. And if you're seeing toxic BkDk shippers, every ship has those toxic shippers, then get the fuck away from them! Because trust me, there are some shippers that may ship BkDk but they probably like other ships, too, or just wanna talk about a funny meme they found, or even gush about their favorite fight scene. All without the need to talk about BkDk.

Example, I do like KiriBaku, but I have moots that don't. I don't mind it because I can still talk to them about the latest episode or a headcanon I have. I think the only reason why your reading of TEaG is considered “bad faith” is because Edelstans really suck at ever actually fully reading what their opposition is saying. Every time I see one of these discussions, it’s the same thing: an awkward reading that doesn’t address the point properly or a strawman.

There’s no having discussions with these people, it’s all about their fragile attempts to win. So long as you differ from them, they’ll scarcely ever admit to your merit.

It may also have to do with the fact that once a certain thing becomes "the right take" in a subsect of a fandom's view of canon, it can be really, really hard to convince them otherwise.

I once again bring up Bleach as an example lol but I gotta lay a bit of groundwork: Ichigo, main character, starts the series pretty bummed. This feeling - his despair - is almost always visualized as/likened to rain. He has friends and family he wants to protect but felt as though he lacked the proper strength to do so - enter Rukia, soul reaper girl, shit happens and she transfers her power to him, he gets his own soul reaper powers to protect his homies, and he says that finally the rain has stopped.

With me? Hope so. He's protectin' he's fightin' he's doin' his shit livin' his life then BAM, two more soul reapers come up, Renji and Byakuya, to take Rukia away cuz actually her giving her powers to Ichigo was illegal and she's goin' to jail. Ichigo tries to stop them, does aight against Renji for like two seconds and then WAH-POW, he gets his ass handed to him. Byakuya does shit that I don't feel like explaining and oops, Ichigo no longer has soul reaper powers and it begins to rain. Ichigo's face down ass up on the ground shiddin' and cryin' in the rain, and then this guy who'd been croppin' up here and there named Kisuke walks over to him and holds an umbrella over Ichigo. And, like, literally the next scenes are him giving Ichigo (some version of) his powers back. Those powers which, remember, were what dried the rain - gotten rid of his despair - in the first place.

Now, because of BABY'S FIRST VISUAL METAPHOR, you would likely come to conclusion that Rukia and Kisuke dried Ichigo's rain, because one gave him the power to protect and the other gave it back to him once it was stolen. But if you were to ask Those IR stans? They will DIE on the hill of "Kisuke didn't dry Ichigo's rain he just held an umbrella over him, you're being too literal, it doesn't mean anything! Only Rukia ever dried Ichigo's rain!"

Meaning that Kisuke protecting Ichigo from the rain - which, again, symbolizes his despair - and then immediately afterwards giving him his powers back - his powers, again, which had gotten rid of the rain in the first place - ... is just a bunch of completely random things happening for no actual reason that just so happen to look a lot like Kisuke also saving Ichigo from his despair. And now where have I heard that sentiment before 🤔

My critiquing of the fic being considered one of "bad faith" by certain Edelstans doesn't really surprise me, given that I've seen this kind of mindset before. There's a certain idea of both Edelgard and the game itself that's sort of cemented itself into Edelstan circles - CF being the route that "breaks fate," Byleth becoming fully human being a good thing, Edelgard caring for the people and just being kind and caring as a character overall, Faerghus Toxic Masculinity, Rhea Bad - and pointing out all of the things in the game that contradict those ideas isn't ever really going to fly over very well with them.

Which is just as well, because I'm not going over the fic to try and change their minds (though that would be a bonus lol) but to go through this "meta piece" and see what all's wrong with it in regards to keeping to canon as well as going over why it also doesn't work as a fic, or even a story independent from 3H. It's seen as such an important piece of Edelgard meta, after all, so imo it ought to be scrutinized to make sure no incorrect or, uhh, worrying narratives are being spread - whether about the game itself or more general things, like any other meta piece. And, well, it's certainly an eye-opener in that regard 😬

but anyway yeah it has been a pretty annoying trend over the past couple of years that the ships people keep hyping to frankly ridiculous degrees as the best out there are those where the characters involved loathe each other up until the last second when the plot suddenly decides that wuv conquers all actshually or where it's the same ol' story of "wah you were my friend but then you weren't & so now I'm going to be a violently miserable asshole to you & everyone you love all while the plot & fanbase refuse to hold me accountable for my shit & also where you get blamed for my atrocious behavior but we're still paired together anyway even though everyone's mad at you for me being a shitgoblin."

Now I do need to note that I haven't seen Season 3 myself at this stage, but I do know that in Monkie Kid Sun Wukong did apparently literally kill Macaque. So in that regard the shadow monkey does have a very understandable reason to be enraged at the monkey king. And honestly that just makes me dislike shadowpeach even more than I did beforehand. Besides that just being a terrible place to start from, Sun Wukong is now more than ever left holding the blame for Macaque's relentlessly shitty behavior (but stg one of the funniest things about this is seeing people in the Monkie Kid fandom pour over JTTW to figure out other character's motivations but when it comes to the Six Eared Macaque & his og background of trying to murder-replace Sun Wukong everyone's like "suddenly I could not read <3") & for as much romantic tension as people keep insisting they have it's more like Macaque is just violently obsessed with getting revenge on Sun Wukong to the detriment of literally everything else in his 2nd chance life while Sun Wukong couldn't care less about Macaque unless Mr. Six Ears is barging into his business to try to ruin it. Look, I totally get that when you're taking on a myth for a fan continuation or a reinterpretation then things are going to change. And I'll be the first to acknowledge that there is a metric ton of exceedingly cursed JTTW reinterpretations out there that make even the worst flaws of Monkie Kid seem benign. But honestly it's really disappointing that the og interpretation of Sun Wukong and the Six Eared Macaque as two manifestations of the same mind (or mind monkey, if you will), that the Six Eared Macaque is in fact the embodiment of Sun Wukong's worst traits that he must overcome, that as such they have often been interpreted as brothers, keeps getting buried in western fandom. Honestly to me that dynamic is just so much more interesting & holds so many more possibilities than anything you could do with a shipping dynamic, not just because it presents a really fascinating way that you could explore the contradictory thoughts and desires that every person has, but also how personal ambitions can get warped into frightening things to the point where you don't even recognize yourself, and then how you might go from there. idk, kind of feels like another bit of monoculturalization :(

thinky thoughts abt the barn scene

The yells of the barn scene being repulsive and cw propagating and normalizing incest amuse me very much but also annoy me.

For years I have seen people be like ew wincest this wincest that and now we have the anti epidemic where I have seen people both say shit like siblings in other fandoms being close is incest and gross and while writing things don’t ever make family members close because someone somewhere is going to ship them which is just mental imo but I also saw takes like sebastial and ciel from black butler have a normal father-son dynamic and the twins from toilet hanako or whatever are completely normal even though one gropes and molests the other.

Anyway, back to the barn scene.

Like it amuses me that people are loosing their shit over that it just shows that they are viewing the show through ship googles only and well of course if they ship d*stiel then whatever happened in that last ep is gross bc it means incest, even tho incest is NOT PART OF THE TEXT. Yes they make jokes about it and allude to it but that’s all fanon. And that’s fine. So they basically see more incest than incest exists and they also say ‘oh the nasty wincesties ruined their rs for me’ no. YOU ruined their rs for yourself. Because you wanted it to be different than the creators and actors saw it you kept pushing for it to be ‘healthy’ and ‘less codependent’ that you’re raging now for it being what it has always been and just circling back to the first episode and kripes ‘it’s about the brothers’ mantra.

The whole debacle annoys me for a greater reason because, and I don’t wanna be that person but any displays of male affection is always seen as something nefarious or with hidden agenda and that’s so not cool. Another thing is that why this show had to have a romantic ending? Why? it’s a show about family bonds. Platonic love and a platonic rs being championed as the most important to the heroes is rare. There is also the argument how people screech about more depictions of less toxic masculinity be shown and when they have a scene of such vulnerability being displayed they say ‘ew gross’.

2. On OCs. I love OCs! I don´t have many unpopular opinions about them, even the most Mary Sueish OC can be developed into something wonderful, I don´t judge people that comes up with flamboyant OCs or OCs that make little sense because I know they are working hard in them and I know my OCs were badly developed in the past or I just blatantly picked a canon, changed some things and I slapped an OC label on their forehead. You don´t know how much they have worked in them but… 

Eh.. I do have one.. Very very unpopular opinion though.. 

Please, by all means.. If it´s a self insert then, it is a self insert. Don´t call it an OC when you know it is not. 

4. On your fandom. Fandoms and RPCs of the fandom are two different things to me, I´m giving my opinion in two. The TMNT fandom is great but HORRIBLE at the same time, there is a group -the one I belong to- of older fans that are accepting and embrace the evolution the TMNT has had for the past 30 years then there are the whiney man babies that want to be heard and they keep complaining Rise of the TMNT or the bayverse turtles are not their turtles. 

Actually, they´re NOT your turtles, wah wah wah.. They belong to Nickelodeon.

As in for the TMNT RPC don´t get me started with that toxic pile of waste of what´s left of it…  Period. 

6. On ‘burnbookisms’/anti-blogs. Any blog that would spread negativity is by default disliked by yours truly however, I understand their purpose. There are shitty people around that fucks with others so much they deserve a call out, I know it sounds bad but every action has a consequence. You can´t act like shit and expect nothing will happen, someone will call you out if you do. 

Again I don´t like burnbook blogs neither anti-blogs but they exist because there is people that feeds them by being shit. 

8. On positivity. The only unpopular opinion I have about positivity is that why we don´t make it a trend?????????????

Have you seen any IRs attacking IHs in the last year? I for sure haven't. I only saw the vicious attacks from IH on us. But still IH act as if they're the victims here 🙄 An IH also said that an UH stole tanabata as a theme for their artwork. Because tanabata apparently is, to quote her, "the most notable IH symbol in the series" Their delusion really knows no end~ Every artist who has drawn a tanabata themed artwork BE PREPARED, because the IHs are comimg for ya!! Tbh I don’t go where IH are so I can’t really say what happens in their lane. When I still went on general Bl/each things tho, I have always seen them cry and act like victims all the damn time and most of the time it was about nothing at all, how to forget how they wined to forums moderators bc “wah IR are mean! They dared to say that poem is about Ichigo and Rukia!!! Unforgivable! LMAO which is why after all this time I stay away from them and their bs as much as I can.

Yes, you pretty much get it. this community has being going through a lot since engstars release, the fame it's getting but the lack of information it's spreading are things that we're not very happy about,,

You see, enstars is a game that heavily relies on reading. so imagine how we feel when the new players are coming here and doing everything but that. I accept it, we've been very sour towards the newbies because of their lack of information (I'm vv sorry) though Tumblr is pretty chill overall? there are other places like TikTok that are hosting misinformation sprees and it's very painfully and raging to watch. TwT

If you read the original story, you'll notice that Akira (one of the main writers) makes a lot of references to classic literature and plays. quotes poetry and other similar things !! Akira is a well cultured person, and his writing is part of the spark that brings joy to all the enst stories.

So imagine when the eng translation gets released. a tl not even made by english natives neither proofread by anyone. a tl that doesn't get all those references I spoke about. a tl that had to be purposely censored to avoid conflict (though I agree. there's bigotry and other problematic topics in a lot of stories) because western audiences are not good at handling them.

Happyele (the company who manages the game) is extremely strict with copyright. that's why you won't find a single leak about the game. why you won't easily find translations publicly (tls are actually illegal. that's why the wiki got nuked approximately a year ago) and that's why fan tls are a miracle. fans do get their references. fans make their investigations and their proofread with the most amazing quality, they're literally the miracle of this community.

Also, you pretty much got it !! "entering our community so violently" yes !! most of us feel that way. please don't get us wrong, I've seen some new players complain that we're being "rude" because of our silly gatekeeping; however, even if we're not receiving them with open arms and the biggest smile, we haven't harassed neither attacked anyone (actually we've been trying to help with guides and things).

As you said, this community has always been very small, so all of us know each other and all of us are in the same page (?) obviously since the game is getting more popular, more people are entering this place and I guess that makes us feel unsafe, since not everyone agrees on the same things once communities start growing.
