W5D3: Overcoming and being an overcomer, is what comes to mind today.
As I get started on this Humpday, this Wednesday, I think of obstacles that can try to get in the way and keep me from attaining what God has prepared and planned for me. When there is an obstacle it requires turning to God to understand the path that will provide the right outcome; over, around, or through? God knows what’s before me and will help me in overcoming it. God’s Word reminds us that…

another month almost over.
Why is change hard for me? I had a really good feeling about 2023- i still do AND so far it has been great-right. I got a promotion-a big promotion- so why has it been a struggle for me? It's funny the things my brain will tell myself- I didn't ask for this- yeah, i did. If i am honest with myself- i'm scared of screwing this up. My life is 100% my own and i don't want to let myself down. I also think too much. get out of your head- I have to work today, from home. My work is cutting OT- the weather has been warm, the oil isnt flowing-no $..I was hoping the no OT would apply to me but apparently not. My salary hasnt kicked in yet.
I'm going out with Marci tonight. Dinner and music. Eating at the bar..
I ran in the rain yesterday. It was fun. I did w5d3- i should have ran week 6d1. I have my best runs in the rain. when i'm done- i want to run more. someone tried to tell me running isnt good for you. I told him i wasn't concerned with it being good for me- i do it because i like the way it makes me feel.
this is my 2nd chance at life. some people don't get a 2nd chance. I did-

FMLS90 - 11/04 - Formal Eating
Prompt: Have you tried any formal eating plans (Keto, Intermittent fasting, Weight watcher etc.) in the past? How did they work for you? What did you learn from the experiences?
Unintentionally i guess I tried doing the intermittent fasting. Mainly just out of how I lead my life. I would stop eating at like 10 pm and then not eat until 5pm the next day. Coffee of zero calorie drinks is all I would have for the rest of the day.
It seemed fine to me, just was not intentional. I mainly just follow the CICO mentality, its math and I like it.

Yay I did it! The dreaded W5D3 of C25k! My pace was MUCH better than I thought it would be, I started out slow and kept a fairly steady pace, speeding up in the last few minutes. My run pace was a full minute faster than my run pace for both the 8 minute run days and 5 minute run days. So I’m pretty pumped and proud of myself. It helps that I haven’t run in a few days and today was a pretty lazy day.
I had the day off, but had to go in for a meeting with my manager (a check in meeting that everyone has to do) and then went and saw Friend Request! It was bad! What a shock! My appetite is mostly back under control now as well. I did get a medium popcorn at the movie because I had a coupon to make it the same price as the junior that I normally get. It was too much! I didn’t eat it all by any means, but I ate enough to feel gross. hahaha, I definitely prefer the junior size where you can eat it all and still feel good. I also got a large soda and probably drank half to 3/4 of it. Moral of the story, just get the smaller stuff unless you’re gonna share. Coupon Shmoupon, just get the smaller size!
Tomorrow starts my new scary schedule at work. I work 12:30-9, which is way longer than I normally work, so wish me luck!

A new month.
I struggled on the fitness front in May. But, I've mostly kept up on c25k (a couple of days behind because of a week straight of unfriendly weather) and completed the 100 mile challenge I signed up for. A fundraiser for a local park/trail system, the goal was to recreationally cover 100 miles in the month of May - walking, running, and biking all apply - and I managed to do it, with more than half of my miles on foot! And we get a medal!
And now its June. What would normally be no problem feels like a stretch goal. But here goes:
Keep up with c25k - I'm currently on w5d3 so I can complete the program by the end of the month.
Complete the Virtual Bellin Run - a 10k that was supposed to be this coming weekend, obviously canceled, but they made special "virtual" shirts and mailed out bibs so we can still kind of do it. Hoping to do that with intentional run/walk intervals, tbd.
Do more yoga - this isn't very specific, but I'm in a situation where I know yoga will help with muscle tightness and probably help me feel more rested, but I can't make myself do it most days. Like 3 sessions a week would probably make a huge difference.

Do you eat out much? How do you eat healthy while out?
I eat out maybe 1-2 times a month. When I do its because I want something I’m craving that I can’t duplicate. Normally I don’t worry about the calories. I just enjoy the food.
Healthy eating out varies for everyone depending on the diet you are following. You can prepare before by reading the menu online for best options for you. So you are not overwhelmed at the restaurant with poor choices. You can share food with your dining partner to reduce portion size or take home half of the meal for the next day.
If you eat out every day for convenience, that can be a problem since you have little control over ingredients or calories. Stick to a simple menu so you can control the calories. Of course, slowly getting back to preparing food at home and limiting take away is the best way to eat healthy. IMHO.
Don’t make food the enemy. Dining out can be an enjoyable experience that shouldn’t cause guilt when you get home. I say all in moderation and if you choose smaller portions of your restaurant foods, you can still eat them a few times a month.

W5D3 complete. Would’ve done it yesterday, but was exhausted and not 100%. Probably from the travel and a bit of stress.
Anyway, run is done. I’m pretty much on schedule. Oh! The cooler temperature was MUCH easier on me!

How awesome! I did cheat slightly when it came to a huge hill that was just too much mentally. But I’m really happy with today’s run. The drizzle was a huge bonus in cooling me down :)
I’m going to repeat week 5 because it really wasn’t a confident week for me, but I’m still feeling great about it anyway :D
