You loved your job as the Stranger Thing's Social Media account admin. You loved seeing the comments that crossed your screen knowing that those reactions from little behind-the-scenes videos and photos you posted would make the day of a fan. What you loved most of all was the fact that you could do all that and more while being surrounded by the people you love and experience those fun memories together with them while posting them for others online to join in on those sweet and fun moments. You've been working for the Duffer Brothers since day one of shooting for Stranger Things. You were highly recommended since your degree was specifically for this sort of work and you had experience doing it for others. You enjoyed watching the kids grow over the years from S1 all the way to S4 which was what was being shot this year. You'd met many people who you'd befriended along the way and still talk to even after they were killed off the show and contract over with. You were just that sort of person. You were, in all senses, part of the family by that point since you've been part of the crew and you would not be boasting when you say you are very much loved by both cast and crew of this series.
You weren't complaining though. You enjoyed working for the Duffer Brothers; there weren't always rainbows and sunshine of course but it made up for the fact that you were around some great kids and then there was the fact that if you weren't working for the brothers then you wouldn't have met your boyfriend. You'd met Joseph Quinn at the beginning when the script for S4 was being looked over and you sort of just clicked during the course of the meeting. You hadn't realized you'd seen his face before on screen until you began talking and discovering the different movies he'd been in over the years. You'd known him for 3 years by now but you guys hadn't made it official to the public yet that you were dating - it has been a year ago when you woke up with a splitting headache in a hotel stark naked under the sheets. It was not as awkward as you guys had thought it'd be and it wasn't until you both realized how natural it felt to the both of you to wake up to each other that you finally sat down to talk about it - the past is history and you couldn't be happier; well, that's a bit of a lie. See, you guys have been keeping your relationship a secret from the world even if Joseph's fellow cast members know already. It was mostly to keep you out of the spotlight as much as possible so that you didn't get overwhelmed and boundaries crossed as Joseph's career sort of rockets off with this show. He wasn't sure how the fans would react if they knew he had a girlfriend and at first, you understood but you wished that you could go out and have dinner together without having to worry about being spotted by paparazzi or be able to post cute selfies together with you're boyfriend without having people jump on it like a pack of hyenas. You didn't mind the thought of it but you weren't sure how Joseph felt about the idea of going public since you avoided the subject - until now.
So, as you trotted down the stairs into the living room; dressed comfy and ready for the night in some gym shorts and one of Joseph's oversized T-shirts, you spotted Jamie and Joseph sitting on the couch laughing together while watching TV late at night when the rest of the kids were off asleep or doing whatever in their rooms. Your bare feet made your approach almost soundless so you enjoyed the little jumps the boys made as you flopped yourself on the couch between the pair of them. You'd grown very close with Jamie over the few years since you met Joseph since the men were very close being both British and on the same show together so it was only natural for you to kick your legs up onto Jamie's lap while you lounged your upper body against your boyfriend's side.
"Watcha watching?" you pipe up tilting your head up to look at Joseph's face.
"Hi, love. I dunno, I don't remember the name of it but it's funny." his dark eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled down at you and leaned down to press a kiss to your forehead. The tickle of his mustache scratched against the soft skin of your brow as you leaned into the tender press of lips making you smile in return.
"What no love for me? I'm hurt darlin! I thought we had somethin' here!" Jamie teased as his long slender fingers messaged your bare calves drawing your attention to him for a moment.
You nudge his thigh with your foot and give him a cheeky smile. "You know I couldn't forget you if you tried Jamie. You're like an annoying itch that just won't go away." you tease. Granted, it was rather true. There was no getting rid of Jamie anytime soon; he was too much of a sweetheart to forget and just ignore after the show was done filming not that you wanted to shoo the musician actor away.
"Aw thanks, babes." he gave playful kissy noises before reaching over to grab his vibrating phone on the armrest to see his girlfriend trying to facetime him. "Ah! That's my cue to leave! Gotta take this."
You slide your legs off his lap and curled them on the sofa beside you as he rises. "Tell Jess I said hi!" you chirp with a smile as the tall blonde headed out of the room and headed upstairs towards his room with a wave before his voice could be heard as he answered his phone.
Once it was just you and Joseph you guys had enough room on the sofa to fully relax further into the sofa. His frame slinked to lay flat on his back while he watched TV and you draped on top of him as his hand lazily dragged along your spine comfortingly. You loved moments like this when neither of you had work to worry about and could just relax in each other's embraces and be comforted by each other's presence. But tonight, you had something on your mind that you wanted to talk to him about. So once a commercial came on the TV you shifted to raise yourself partly off of him and look down at his sleepy face. He looked up with a curious look as you perch on his waist looking down at him.
"What's the matter love?" he asked softly as he saw the nervous look on your face. His hand raised to brush along your cheekbone as his dark puppy eyes searched your face for signs of distress.
"Joe…I've been thinking," you mumbled softly and lean your face into the warmth of his palm.
"That's never a good sign. Am I in trouble?" the man teased making a smile tug at your lips and you lightly smack his chest before he had the chance to grab your hand and bring it to his lips to give your fingertips a sweet kiss.
"No, you're not in trouble. I've just been thinking about our relationship…and I was wondering…" you bite your lip a little scared to say it. "I'd like to take our relationship to the next level."
His dark brown eyes widened comically and he nearly choked on his own spit as he pushed himself a bit to sit up making you slide from his waist to sit on his thighs instead. "B-babe, I would love to do that…it's just I was hoping you'd give me a chance to get a ring first before-"
You clamped a hand over his mouth and felt a flush grace your cheeks. "I'm not talking about marriage Joe. I-I mean not yet. I know It's only been a year but that's not what I'm talking about…I want to make it public. Our relationship. That's what I mean…I don't want to hide it anymore…I know it was for the best in the beginning but I'd like to think we've already passed the uncertainty stage of our relationship babe…" you look down at his T-shirt as you play with the fabric nervously. "The longer we keep it a secret the more it makes me feel as if something bad is going to happen or that you don't love me or that you're having some sort of doubts about our relationship; which if that's the case you gotta talk-" Joseph's strong arms wrapped around your waist to pull you closer and his nose nudged at your cheek as if he could feel the panic begin to form a ball in your chest.
"Baby hey! Darling breathe it's okay! Look at me, love." his hand raised so that your uncertain gaze fixed on his dark brown ones that looked at you with understanding and reassurance.
"There is no doubt. I don't doubt that I love you. I don't have second thoughts about our relationship. I would love to scream to the whole world that you're mine. I just wanted to make sure that you were comfortable with the idea…I didn't know that it was making you second guess yourself." his face shifted to one of guilt as he stroked your cheek; the press of his palm to your face not giving you a chance to look anywhere but him. Not that you would ever want to with those big brown eyes of his.
"We never really talked about it before after we said to keep things quiet…I just…I'm ready to let everyone know regardless of what will come. I don't want to hide, but I don't want to do it if you aren't ready for what will come afterward; you know there will be some backlash. I should know, I'm the one who sees all the comments on the social media pages as a living." your lips quirked up a bit into a small smile.
Joseph chuckled shaking his head. "I admit we probably should have talked about it sooner. I'm sorry I made you feel that way. But I'm as ready as I'll ever be. I don't care what people say because I fucking love you. Always." he nuzzles his nose against yours and your smile grows larger as you wrap your arms around his neck and squeeze a bit; drawing him closer and allowing your foreheads to press lightly together.
"So you'll tell the internet?" you asked hopefully
"Pick the social media account and the time; I'll be there," he told you with genuine warmth.
This was why you loved this man. He could be goofy as hell, and shy in public, but he was a sweetheart with such a pure soul. You were so freaking blessed to have him in your life. That much you tried to portray as you lean over to kiss him sweetly on the lips for a few seconds before pulling away to look down at his dark eyes as he smiled up at you.
"Let's do it tomorrow. You don't have filming tomorrow." you offer tilting your head and he grinned.
"Tomorrow it is! Just warn me before you start live streaming so I don't make a fool of myself." he joked tickling your sides and making you squeal with laughter.
"Deal!" you say before giggling and launching your weight into his chest and pressing your lips against his knocking both of you onto the couch.
~
You didn't know why you were nervous but you were. You loved going live and interacting with your followers; being on live and posting social media content was what you did for a living but this wasn't for the Stranger Things Fandom, this was for you and Joseph. This was all about the pair of you and god only knows what will happen when you finally allow the news to reach everyone. You chose to go live on your personal account on Instagram since that was mostly what you worked on; a lot of the followers of the Stranger Things fandom followed you because you had added your Insta tag to all of the accounts since you were the admin and mod of the cast's social media just in case there were any issues or messages that needed to be sent through or situated. Not that you minded. You often posted some behind-the-scenes selfies with yourself and other cast and crew. As someone who was with this fandom from the very beginning, you had a large number of followers so you knew as soon as you go live that notification will pop up on so many other people's phones and they'd tune into your live stream. The only difference this time was you'd be with Joseph at your side. You chose to take a walk into the garden that was outside of the boarding house for this part because frankly, you didn't know how you'd react to having your friends watching and making comments about it. So while the sun was still shining high in the sky and the scent of flowers and earth wafted around you; the pair of you chose to take a seat at a picnic table in the shade.
"Are you ready for this love?" Joseph rubbed your back as you fiddled with the phone trying to position it perfectly to center the pair of you as you sat beneath the shade a large tree.
"As ready as I will ever be! We can't hide forever baby," you tell him with a small but nervous smile as you lean yourself against his side. He smelled good; the cologne he wore was a comforting scent that was so familiar as it invaded your senses and you were thankful you weren't doing this alone.
"Then let's do this." a brief kiss to your temple was all you needed before your finger pressed the live button.
It didn't take long for the fans to start popping in and saying hello. At first, it seemed normal; hellos and how are you's up until they realized that Joseph was there too as he shifted a bit beside you to get better on screen. One arm wrapped around your back to grab the bench seat next to your hip as he leaned closer to peer at the comments section.
"Hello, guys! Welcome! I know I haven't gone live on here very often. I do apologize about that." you squint as the comments started coming in quicker "Ah yes, you see I have a special guest! Yep. Say hi to Joseph everyone!" you playfully raise a hand to squish your boyfriend's cheeks as he played along by giving little air kisses as his lips puckered from your fingers squishing his face.
"Hi everyone. How are we?" he leaned closer to look at the comments. So many people were commenting 'hellos' and some asking for a shoutout or to say their names. It was all overwhelming and you could see the video in front of you on the screen as his eyes shifted trying to read every comment that scrolled in; how adorable.
"Sooo. This live stream isn't my usual. I..well technically, we have some news!" you smile at the camera as you see more comments. "Good guess eddie_Munsonlover!" you grin.
"That's right. So, some of you guys have been speculating for a while now due to the posts circulating on the social media pages that Joseph is romantically seeing someone." you began ignoring the other comments in favor of spitting out what you needed to without distractions. "As his personal social media account assistant, I have permission from Joseph to put some rumors to rest and confirm some suspicions." You lick your lips nervously trying to keep that bright smile you usually wear.
The gentle squeeze to your waist from Joseph's hand there made your body subconsciously lean into him for support as well as gratitude as you finally break the news as you see messages commenting about 'look how he's holding her!' and 'omg he's so sweet! I wish I was her right now!' in different formations scrolling through.
"Joseph is indeed dating someone." you look up at Joseph and he tilted his head down to look at you with a cute little smile before nudging his nose against your playfully.
When the pair of you looked back down you could see so many people in all caps going wild at the little interaction. "Joseph and I have been dating for the past year!" you finally declare. "Now now please be respectful in the chat. No - I told you so's-." You pointed sternly to the screen before smiling with a little laugh.
"We were hoping to keep it under wraps for a while as I am not someone who often shows my face and didn't wish for the internet to break but Joseph and I have agreed it's about time we let the world know that we are dating and have been for a good bit. You guys are, of course, more than welcome to ask some questions if you'd like. If not we are more than happy to fill in" you stopped speaking when you saw the comments; a grin plastering on your face as people either gushed, screamed in all caps, or straight up emoji cried over the news.
Of course, there were some bad ones in there too but you ignored those; never can please everyone so you focused on the positive. So instead you look to Joseph who was busy grinning at the camera kind of shy as he read and even giggled a bit at the comments below up until you noticed what he was laughing at and turned to see that some of those usernames that you saw were actually…your jaw dropped.
"Jamie! You little shit head!" you laugh covering your face as you realized your best friend had popped on the live stream to watch and was commenting hilarious stuff in the chats that were making the other fans go crazy. You could practically hear his goofy fake girl voice asking questions like an obsessed fan and it only made you cackle even harder because you could only imagine him in your mind acting like a little school girl while he did those voices. The image made you laugh so hard that you were leaning into Joseph to help you upright.
"Oh look hi Maya!" Joseph waved to the camera and you popped your head up to see that indeed Maya's comments were popping in like a straight-up fan girl only causing to rile up the crowd.
"You guys are so dead." you didn't mean it but you were so happy your friends were there to support you. It took a few minutes of bantering before you finally settled down to try and answer some questions
"Alright. Let's get down to the Q&A before we get off track here" you squint reading different questions to see which one they wanted to answer.
"How long have we known each other?" you look over at Joseph who smiled and pretended to think as his dark eyes lifted to the trees above you.
"Technically now about 3 years, I think?" he cocked his head. "Gosh. It felt much longer than that hadn't it?" he smiled thoughtfully. "But we have only been dating a year as you guys already know," he added waving a hand around
"How did you two meet?" you read another comment and looked back at Joseph.
"Just through work, I guess. See, she's been with the Stranger Things cast long before I ever came along. From the very beginning so I sort of just slid in there for the season and we clicked instantly." Joseph shrugged not knowing how to answer in a more entertaining way but the fans seemed to love it anyways
"Oh here's a good one, love. What's your favorite thing about each other that made you fall in love?" Joseph read that one and looked over at you with a big smile that was filled with cheesy warmth and a playful twinkle in his eye. Even with that goofy grin on his face, you could tell he was eager to hear the answer.
Feeling a blush cross your features you looked down at the table and picked at the chipped wood as you felt the urge to hide overcome you. You weren't particularly shy unless it came to be all lovey-dovey in front of hundreds of people after so much of just you hiding away from the public eye when it concerned the British actor. But you loved the question and you couldn't help the way your voice became soft as you answered the question
"Hmm well, that is a good question. I would love to say it's his pretty face, sweet soul, and goofy personality which of course is part of it but the thing you guys don't often understand is that there is so much more to a person than what they let you see on the internet. I think my favorite thing about Joseph is simply how genuine he is and just how much his heart is open to people. He is so caring and loves without apologies. He doesn't have to apologize to anyone for the way he acts and you know just by one meeting with him that he was raised with respect for people." you smile thoughtfully before looking over at your boyfriend.
"He isn't perfect but he knows how to make me feel like I'm the only girl in the world he'll ever need. I used to dream about someone like him. To hold me tight and see me through times that are hard. To love me at my lowest. To stay with me whenever I'm scared and now that I have you I don't know what I would have ever done without you. Sometimes it scares me how much I love and need you. When I look at you my heart melts to the floor because every day I find something new to love about you more and more. I can't deny that a heart like yours is very rare; I feel so blessed to have the chance to know someone like you." you could see the tears glistening in his eyes and you felt your own start to sting.
"Sorry was that too much?" you laugh a little but his head was shaking as he hugged you to his chest and buried his face into your neck.
You hugged like that for a few moments before he pulled away wiping at his face. "I don't know if I can beat that answer." he laughed a bit. "Give me a second will you?" he rose from the picnic table and got out of view.
You giggled wiping your own eyes feeling slightly guilty for making him cry but at least they were happy tears right? While he composed himself you turned your attention back to the phone to see the comment scrolling by quickly. It wasn't until you noticed Joseph shifting behind you through the live stream screen that you turned your head in surprise to see him standing there with something in his hand. You froze a second before turning around on the bench not realizing that the live stream was seeing this real-time in full view as you had shifted away enough to be able to see what was going on.
Licking his lips nervously he slowly knelt down to be level with you. "A few years ago before I ever met you. Jamie and I were just talking the shit like men do, you know? And, at the time he was in this hard spot in his life with his girlfriend back then when he turns to me and asks 'what's a soulmate?' and back then I just froze because…I didn't know. I could come up with so many answers that just didn't fit what that word could possibly mean because it was just so…foreign. Something that people don't talk enough about because it's so controversial. The question stuck with me though…' what's a soulmate?' it was something I thought I'd never truly know the answer to. Until the day you walked into my life with that bright smile of yours." his tongue came out to moisten his lips nervously as he watched your expression; seeing the way you seemed to hold your breath while you stared at him unblinkingly.
"Did you ever figure out the answer to that question?" your voice came out a little shaky and your words brought a smile to his face as if he was glad to have the opening.
Tilting his head his hands that were holding something shifted to open the small black box to reveal a ring resting in the soft silk cushion as he reply. " It's uh… Well, it's like a best friend but more. It's the one person in the world that knows you better than anyone else. It's someone who makes you a better person. Actually, they don't make you a better person, you do that yourself - because they inspire you. A soulmate is someone who you carry with you forever. It's the one person who knew you and accepted you and believed in you before anyone else did, or when no one else would. And no matter what happens, you will always love them. Nothing can ever change that.” He reached out to take your hand in his.
"This isn't a…a wedding ring. It's a promise ring, the sign of my devotion to you and my love for you. I'm willing to wait for as long as you need me to until you are ready to say yes. But, meeting you made me realize that YOU are my soulmate and I will do whatever and everything I can to make you feel cherished and loved to the fullest extent that you deserve. If of course, you will have me that long?" there was a slight twinkle in his dark eyes
You looked down at the silver ring sitting inside the silken cushion-lined box. You couldn't help the tear that ran down your cheek as you felt the trembling of your limbs. You weren't scared or nervous. That was not why you shook and trembled from the nerves. It was because you couldn't believe this man was so perfect. You couldn't speak around the lump in your throat as you nodded. Allowing the actor to place the ring delicately onto your ring finger. You laughed a little when you saw the utter relief on Joseph's face as he finally looked up at you. You welcomed his embrace as his arms wrapped around you and hauled you up off the bench to swing you around in the air.
"I love you." you smile down at him as your fingers sink into his chocolate curls.
His pink lips parted into a large grin as he met your approach with his mouth to kiss the breath out of you. You were sure to have a make-out session if it weren't for a voice shouting from an open window making you break away to peer up at Jamie and Maya leaning out the window with cheeky little smirks and smiles on their faces.
"You're still live streaming babes!" Maya called down at your red flushed faces making the pair of you turn to realize that you'd totally forgotten about the Instagram live.
"Wrap it before you tap it!" could be heard be shouting from Jamie right before you rushed out a goodbye to the fans; face flushed and eyes sparkling as you ended the live stream.
You and Joseph looked up at each other and grinned before he was bending down and threw your body over his shoulder, snatched your phone off the table before he was damn near running across the lawn towards the house while your joined laughter echoed in the morning air and the rays of the sun making your ring glitter on your finger.
If you love my work please consider reblogging to share with others! Thank you!

She loved seeing him like this. So relaxed and serene as he rested his head back against the car headrest while the wind from the convertible top car blew through his pale blonde locks as he drove down the road. His pretty eyes were covered by a pair of dark sunglasses making her wish she could see the beautiful blue hues that she'd come to fall in love with but the gentle strength of his grip on her bare thigh was enough to keep her grounded as she idly traced the dark ink on his forearm as she rested her own head against the headrest to peer through her own pair of sunglasses that perched on her nose from the bright sun above them. The soft music of his latest record was playing from his phone as it was connected to the Bluetooth system of his car. This was one of the rarest moments she cherished with her boyfriend when he had time from his filming or tours to get to spend with her. Y/n could tell every time she saw him after months of separation how tired he was even when he'd give her the biggest smile and the sweetest of kisses as a greeting every single damn time she'd pick him up from the airport. But Y/n was keen when it came to picking up the subtle hints of him being burnt out; like how he sinks himself into her embrace and hold her for what felt like eternity no matter how much time they had or the way he would use any excuse he could to be either touching her or nuzzling up into her like a cat. But that's why she loved Jamie. Jamie Campbell Bower is a heartthrob all in his own right with his chiseled features, sinewy tall frame, beautiful smile, and stunning eyes. Not to mention that gorgeous British accent. Y/n was one hell of a lucky girl to have snagged him right after his break-up with his former girlfriend at the time.
But he was hers now. Been dating for almost 2 years now. It was rough at first once the relationship settled from the honeymoon stage of being a blissful experience. Y/n missed him a lot whenever he'd leave for months on end for either filming or a music tour. She didn't mind him doing what he loved; she supported him for it. But she could not lie and say it didn't suck most days when all she wanted was to cuddle up to him. So when he finally had free time from filming his latest TV show he popped out to see his lover and dragged her straight to the sunny side of Hawaii. Y/n hadn't been to Hawaii and she loved the idea even if it was on short notice. She was glad she agreed because seeing Jamie this way was just perfect. The way his lips curled Y/n knew she was caught staring so she quickly played it off as she turned her head to the road and the beautiful scenery.
"You know, I'm glad you brought me to Hawaii. It's beautiful," she commented idly running her fingertips along his forearm and tracing his tattoos absently.
"Not as beautiful as me you mean?" he grinned over at her making her laugh a bit.
"Okay, you got me. I was staring. But I can't help it. I know you've been so stressed recently and so high-strung. You needed this trip as much as me." she slipped her fingers through his as he let go of her thigh in favor of shifting the gears of the car; their joined hands resting lightly on the joystick.
"You're right I was. But I wouldn't pass up that opportunity to spoil my baby." he lifted her hand to kiss her fingertips and just that small gesture made her skin heat up; he could be so effortlessly sweet without even trying.
She smiled to herself and turned her head away before she swooned from the perfection that was her boyfriend and was happy to see that as soon as she turned her head she was greeted by the most beautiful of views. A vast sprawling ocean bluer than the sky meeting white sand dotted with different exotic trees throughout the beach. She could see other people there like little dark ants scattered throughout the vast beauty and she couldn't help but lean a little over the edge of her door to peer at the view. The excitement coursed through her like the waves of the ocean that kissed the beach.
"This place is beautiful. I thought the view from the hotel was amazing; it doesn't beat the real close-up deal for sure!" Y/n breathed as Jamie pulled the car slowly to a stop.
it didn't take long for the pair to find a spot on the beach a bit away from other people to set up their things. A large blanket was laid out on the hot sand with the cooler set on one corner of the blanket under an equally large umbrella for shade while the rest of their stuff such as shoes and bags were placed on the other 3 corners to make sure that their blanket did not pull up with the wind and shifting of their bodies. Y/n was content to strip down from the clothes that hid her bathing suit beneath and settled herself down on the blanket to start smearing sunscreen on herself. From the corner of her eye, she could make out Jamie sitting there while popping open a can of beer as he watched the people around him. She smiled slightly and tossed the bottle of lotion on his lap regaining his attention.
"Do my back for me?" she asked with a raised brow making him give her a cheeky little grin as he set his beer down and scooted to her so that he could apply the cold substance to her back.
His hands were warm and large along her back and shoulders as he applied the lotion; finding it cute how she sighed in contentment at the pressure on her back. "You know you could always ask for a back message whenever you want, love. You don't have to wait for me to take you to Hawaii." Jamie teased purposefully kneading the muscles of her shoulders again getting that grumble of pleasure from her.
"Oh shut up!" she swatted at him from her position on her stomach and giggled.
Once everything was settled they looked over at the beautiful ocean view. "Shall we go for a dip before we are found out by the fans and paps?" Jamie spoke up peering over his sunglasses at his girlfriend who was lounging on her elbows watching some people down the beach playing volleyball. At the sound of his voice, her head turned and she grinned.
"Omg, I was waiting for you to ask! I've been dying to get in that water!" she scrambled to her feet and rearrange her bathing suit back in place from where it had shifted slightly.
As she did this Jamie was keen to see the way her body language seemed to shift as a pair of beautiful women in skimpy bikinis walked by chatting and laughing together and although they didn't pay either her or Jamie any mind let alone spare a glance their way the rockstar actor could see those little gears turning in her pretty little head. It was the way the light in her eyes seemed to dim a little and her bright smile turned down at the corners. The way she subconsciously shifted on her feet and looked around as if she was checking others out and judging herself. Nope, that was going to have to stop.
Rising to his feet the man stood behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist holding her close to his chest as he rested his chin on her shoulder and pretended to look around with her. "Pretty view huh?" he commented glancing at her from the corner of her eye.
Her gaze was fixed on some pretty girls down the beach and he squeezed her tighter as if to remind her he was there as he spoke. "Don't compare yourself darling." he kissed her shoulder.
"I-I'm not…" a frown tugged at his features as he pulled away to spin her around and peer down at her with a serious but kind look on his face. "Baby you are amazing. Always have been and always will be." he cupped her cheeks and tilted her head up so that he could place a tender little kiss to her lips. "There is nothing wrong with the way you look. You are beautiful inside and out. So stop staring at the other girls and come enjoy our vacation with us okay?" Ah, there was the formation of a smile. She didn't seem fully convinced but at least she was okay with the distraction and a distraction is just what Jamie was good at doing.
So he bent down and threw her over his shoulder. Y/n squealed smacking at his bare back as he strode across the hot sand towards the crystal waves that looked like they were searching to reach out and snatch them into their depths. And they did. Jamie grinned his little devil grin as he threw his girlfriend straight into an oncoming wave as he was waist deep in the water with a small little shriek of surprise. When she resurfaced he was right there with her to grab a hold of the girl and pull her close as the next wave crashed over the both of them halting their laughter. Fully soaked but laughing the pair held onto each other as Jamie shifted them through the cold water to a bit calmer location. Y/N wrapped her arms around his neck and legs around his waist as she leaned over his back like a little spider monkey as he kept them both up in the water as he drifted through the ocean. It was lovely. A great time killer as they talked and laughed with each other; not always about work but anything that they could think of under the heat of the sun and coldness of the water.
When they were getting a bit tired of the water Y/n leaned over to nuzzle against Jamie's neck. "Is there an ice cream shop we can go to?" she hummed lazily scanning the shoreline shops back on the beach.
Jamie shifted his girlfriend around so that she was koala bear hugging him from the front. She looked so pretty with her hair all soaked and sticking to her skin as the water droplets hung from her lashes. It was hard to think she didn't realize how beautiful she really was. He smiled and leaned close to press their foreheads together.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" she asked when he didn't stop staring at her or care to reply to her question moments earlier.
"I think you're beautiful. I like looking at beautiful things you know." Jamie gave a little smile but there was no teasing nature behind it. He was so serious even when his face went soft as he reached up to stroke her cheek. "I love you darling. You know that right?"
She leaned into his touch and smiled allowing her eyes to drift closed as she savored those words; no matter how many times she heard it from him it always sounded so pretty coming from his lips. Reopening her eyes she looked up at him and nodded. "I love you too Jamie. And…I miss you when you go away, you know." she commented playing with his wet hair.
"So let's no go away." Jamie replied quickly as his grip tightened making her look at him confused. "Come with me. When our vacation here is over and I have to go back to filming. Let's go together. I don't want to have to leave you behind back home again." he said earnestly.
"Jamie…" her words failed her. Sure, it was no marriage proposal but it was still a hard decision. She'd have to uproot her entire life back home to go with him. But if she truly thought about it; was it all worth giving up to experience memories with Jamie?
Looking into his eyes she smiled and nodded slowly. "It's worth it." she stated more to herself as she leaned over to press her lips to his firm and passionate as she hugged him tight to her. "I'll go with you as long as you think I'll not be in your way."
"You will never be in the way darlin. I promise you." Jamie's smile was infectious as he pressed kisses all over her face making her giggle.
He swam them to shore after that. Finding their towel they laid out in the waning sun for a bit before they were deemed dry enough to put on their clothes and shoes in hopes of finding an ice cream shop nearby. The tourist shopping area wasn't as busy as they thought it'd be in the evening but it didn't matter as the fairy lights kicked on as it grew dark and the tiki sticks were lit with a flame to light the path for people. Hand and hand the pair walked down the sidewalk window shopping with free hands filled with ice cream cones.
"Oh look at that! That's so cute!" Y/n pointed into a shop as they walked back and Jamie was quick to steer her inside much to her protest.
The shop looked expensive just like every other store in Hawaii but Jamie wouldn't take no for an answer and instead he was keen as he looked around the shop. In the end, he'd bought a brightly colored Hawaiian shirt, a cool handmade carving, and a few smaller items. Y/N didn't like to spend a lot of money so she just browsed. She did find the Hawaiian culture interesting so her eyes would stray to things just as stones, handmade items like baskets, bowls, and antique-looking things, and her boyfriend was no stupid man. When she wasn't looking he'd grab whatever item she was lingering on and stuff it into a shopping bag to pay for all without her realizing it. She ended up just grabbing one of those fresh flower lei. Those pretty flower chains that Hawaii was known for. It smelled so pretty and it was so cool because she could watch the shop owner actually sit there making them.
When they were finally shopped out and too tired on their feet Jamie returned them to their glorious hotel where Jamie dumped all the items he'd bought onto the bed and began sifting through them. Y/n looked over her shoulder at all the stuff slowly realizing that most of the items were not his as she recognized items that she'd been looking at.
"Jamie…" she trailed off giving him a pointed look. "What is all this?"
"Well, you didn't tell me what you wanted to buy so I bought everything your pretty eyes landed on." Jamie grinned sitting back on the edge of the bed to watch her as she grabbed one item and then another to examine them as if they were the most precious things in the world.
"I didn't want you to spend all this money babe!" she protested but she knew there was never a fight that she'd ever win if it meant making Jamie happy and if spending all that shit ton of money on her made Jamie happy, well she didn't have much fight to protest.
So instead of protesting Y/n walked over to him and sidled up between his parted legs from where he lounged back on his palms. She reached up to grab the lei from her neck and draped it over his own just so she could use it to pull him closer to her until their lips brushed.
"You are going to make me a spoiled brat." she teased nuzzling his nose with hers.
"Is that so?" one brow raised with a devilish grin crossing his face as his hands rested on her hips. "Well, then darling lucky for you I'm an amazing brat tamer. Or haven't you learned yet?" his eyes darkened slightly as her teeth sank into her bottom lip.
"Aren't you cocky?" Y/n teased before letting go of her hold on the Lei and taking a few steps back. "I think I'm going to shower; I smell like the ocean," she commented idly as she headed for the bathroom.
Jamie watched her for a long long moment until she was out of sight. He didn't move even when he heard the water get started in the shower. But boy did he move faster than a cheetah as soon as that bathing suit landed on the floor right in front of him. With a large grin on his face, he stalked across the room straight for the bathroom door; secretly loving that little giggle of conspiracy that left her mouth as soon as he closed the bathroom door behind him.

Summary: Y/n and Robin used to be childhood best friends up until Y/n began dating Jason Carver out of the blue. Robin couldn't understand why her best friend would just ditch her for popularity and begin to bully her. But a chance encounter in the girl's bathroom finally revealed the truth behind the secrets both girls shared.
Pairing: Robin Buckley x Ex BFF!Reader
W.A.C Winner: @pastelbabygirl19
Auth.Note: Thank you so much for the patience on this one! I hope you enjoy reading, lovelies! A little bit of a different POV this time around per the request of my lovely winner!
Tumblr media
Written in Robin's POV
She was insufferable. Someone who I just couldn't fucking stand. She could be crass, rude, and downright evil when she wanted to be. But she wasn't always like that. She used to be such an amazing girl to hang out with. Always so helpful, so sweet, and the most reliable person you could ever ask to be around. If someone was in trouble. She would be the one to take the fall to help them. She was that kind of girl. The problem was, she wasn't like that anymore. Not since that day that Jason Carver decided that she was his Hawkins Queen. I never knew what she saw in him. Sometimes, I'd like to think that she wasn't into him at all; just the way her eyes would always gloss over when he went into a rant or speel of whatever was on his mind that day. Or whenever her gaze would automatically drift around the room as if searching for someone. I'd like to think that perhaps she and Jason were meant to be just because I wanted her to be happy. I was selfish because she used to be my best friend. She used to be the best fucking thing in my life; the reason I woke up in the morning. But now, she was my walking nightmare. I fucking hated her. But god did I love the fuck out of her. Y/n knew all about the fact that I was gay. She was the first person I had ever told when I accepted the fact that I liked girls instead of guys. She didn't judge me as I thought considering this time in age same-sex love was the most taboo thing besides murder. But she didn't judge because she confessed that she liked girls too. But she liked boys too which of course I was okay with. Back then I didn't mind. But now, the longer I watch from afar at how she laughs at whatever stupid shit her cronies said and the way she'd lean up under Jason's arm all I wanted was to scream in her face and call her a little liar.
She was a little liar. A liar because she promised me she'd never abandon me. She promised we'd always be friends and that she'd always love me. But here she was standing on the entirely different side of the spectrum of Hawkins High. I hated it so fucking much. Not because I lost my best friend. But because she damn well knew I loved the hell out of her. I'd always loved her; she was the reason I turned gay. She was the first person who I had ever experienced true love with; she was the first girl who gave me a chance to fool around with. We never actually went to bed together but we'd kissed before; it never had changed our relationship between us because she never wanted to go further than some kisses. She never gave me the chance to tell her that I loved her more than just friends with benefits if you even care to call it that before she did a 180 and got turned to the dark side. She didn't mean to bully me. I'd like to think that at least. The way she'd be so mean to me, bully me in all kinds of ways but never physically harm me. But whatever she'd throw at me, whatever she'd dump on me, no matter what cruel and mean words she'd say to me. I knew she regretted it by the way her evil little smile would dim and her eyes would plead for me to forgive her. The regret inside of those e/c orbs would always dig that thorn into my heart a little bit more.
Steve had been there for me along the way. I never thought that I'd ever be friends with Steve Harrington. The former king of Hawkins High. But he'd been there for me when Y/n started bullying me. Funny how he used to do the very same thing to other people before he'd changed his ways and unknowingly given the crown to Jason Carver; the basketball captain of Hawkins High. Now, instead, he was the one who'd replaced the hole in my heart that my best friend no longer occupied. He was the one who even right now as we sat on the hood of his car during lunch period was the one who was trying his best to switch my mood. Trying to shoo away the dark gloom of a thunder cloud that seemed to make residence over my head the instant Y/n walked outside to Jason's car.
"They know we can see them right?" I grumbled glaring across the lot a few cars down to where he and I could clearly see Jason and Y/n in the front seat of his vehicle making out as if the world was going to end. "If they start fucking I swear to god Steve I'm going to throw my food on Carver's car."
"Hey, Robin calm down." Steve's hand rested on my shoulder as he looked uncertainly over at the making-out couple.
"She knows what she's fucking doing Steve! She fucking knows! And she knows it'll piss me off!" I clutch my sandwich so hard in my hands it crumbled dropping some of the items onto my lap.
"You can't do anything about it Rob. You guys were never together…you fooled around but that doesn't mean that you have a right to her." my glare made him raise his hands in the air defensively. "I'm just trying to tell you how it is. I know you love her but damn either tell her or leave her the fuck alone. You can't pine after her across the room all the time and be pissed off when you have the power to do something about it."
I looked away from him to glare angrily at my sandwich before crumbling it up in the wrapper and slid off the hood of his car to go throw my trash away. I had to pass by the stupid couple towards the nearest trash can and I made to bump into the car so they know there were on-lookers. As soon as I met Y/n's surprised eye I shook my head at her and walked off to throw my trash. I could feel her eyes on me as I headed inside with Steve running after me and calling my name. I mean, he wasn't wrong. I hated it but he wasn't wrong. I've been allowing her to do all this shit to me while keeping my lips sealed about our little secret. I was so tired of it. So I chose to finally gather some courage to tell her straight up whenever I had the chance today.
That chance came far too quickly for my liking since I didn't know what I was going to say. I was in the bathroom washing my hands after using the toilet whenever the door opened and Y/n walked in looking so perfect in her skirt and blouse; the only atrocity was Jason's letterman jacket around her shoulders that was white and green that clashed with her clothing. She didn't even acknowledge my presence until she was finished doing her business and was standing beside me washing her hands. Her gaze finally lifted to meet mine in the mirror and she scowled.
"What was that about this morning?" she asked with a snippy tone that I really didn't like.
"I should be asking you the same thing; I thought you weren't fond of PDA?" I sneer back a little hurt at the memory.
"Jason's my boyfriend Robin! What he and I do is none of your fucking business skank!"
I froze feeling my heart start beating faster at that insult. Skank? I was a fucking skank now?! I spun to her and my hand flew out making contact with her cheek and making her stumble back a second feeling her face that stung with my slap. Her e/c wide lifted to me were filling with anger and spite as she launched forward and shoved me back against the wall beside the sinks
"You have no fucking right Robin!" she yelled smacking my shoulder.
I took note of the fact she hadn't actually tried to physically harm me. Even that hit to my shoulder didn't hold a punch and I took that opportunity to grab her wrist and spin us against the wall so that her back was now pressed against the cold surface instead of mine. I glared at her and lowered my voice when I thought I heard voices by the bathroom doors.
"You're calling me a skank when you damn well know you're the one playing for both sides Y/n! You pretend like I mean nothing to you after you got what you want. Do you not remember what we promised before high school? What we had before high school? Before fucking Jason Carver decided you were his dream?" I sneer glaring into her face. "You don't fucking remember…am I that disposable?"
I could see the glistening of tears in her eyes. Oh, she hadn't forgotten. Not one word or memory. But there was something behind those eyes that had my gears coming to a screeching halt as her body just went limp against the wall. Her hands shakily rose to grip the front of my sweater; her head lowered so that she didn't have to look at the anger that radiated across my face.
"He found out okay?!" she finally choked out. "Jason found out that I liked girls and he threatened that if I didn't play along then he'd let the entire school know I'm a whore. I was scared okay? I was scared because I knew if he told the school the bullying would get worse and then you'd get bullied too because he knew we were best friends. I didn't want that so I played along…I didn't want the popularity; I fucking can't stand those idiots…but I had to so that you didn't get hurt okay? I didn't forget our promise…I just had to do what I did to protect you." she leaned against me and the grip on my shirt tightened as I felt the strength she was holding off the sobs started to wane into trembles.
"You…" my brain short-circuited as I took in the information. The anger I felt was replaced by regret because I realized I alienated and hated my best friend without knowing the truth behind why she suddenly changed her ways. I was only hurting myself when I did that.
"So…you don't actually love him…" I was talking more to myself than to her but her head shook side to side in an affirmative negative.
"I can't his fucking guts Robin. He's such a stuck-up snob who thinks he can get away with anything," she mumbled sniffling.
"I'm sorry…I'm so sorry Y/n. I thought you wanted the popular life…I thought you just didn't need me anymore" I confessed wrapping my arms around her shoulders tentatively.
"Fuck no!" her arms wrapped around my waist. "If it meant abandoning my best friend I would do anything, give up anything if it meant you weren't targeted…" her head raised to look at me and I could see the tear streaks along her cheeks making my heart ache a bit more.
"I love you, Robin…That never changed. You don't know how many nights I'd imagine it was you holding me while Jason and I cuddled against the sofa while watching a movie. O-Or pretending that you were with me whenever we walked through the halls. I just…I needed my best friend Robin. I needed you more than anything but I couldn't have you because if I had you it would only be hurting you." she confessed looking so scared and so regretful that I couldn't help but press my forehead against hers and hold her closer to me.
"I wished you were with me too…I missed your presence and the way you laugh at my stupid jokes or the way you're damn perfume never seems to want to leave my bedsheets. I still have the shirt you left at my house that I sleep with just to feel a little closer to you." I sighed before pulling away to cup her face. "I missed you Y/n… and if you'll have me I want you back…"
A small smile tugged at her quivering lips. "We weren't actually together Robin you realize that right? We were just two best friends fooling around." she reached up to smooth her thumb along the corner of my lips as they turned down into a frown before she spoke again. "And I don't want that kind of relationship with you Robin. I want more…I don't care if Jason bullies us or our name gets run through the mud. We'll be graduating soon anyways and I just want to be able to call you mine; hold your hand in public and be that jealous girlfriend who glares at everyone who tries to flirt with you." her smile only grew which made my own start to light up my face as I registered her words.
"Are you serious?"
She nodded with a soft laugh as she interlaced our fingers together and held them between us. "I love you, Robin. Will you forgive me for how I treated you all these months? Will you be my girlfriend, officially?" she asked me looking at me with such hope
My face must have been awestruck because I felt like I was in a dream. I picked my jaw off the floor as I finally nodded excitedly. "That would be amazing." I breathed out feeling my face grow hot with the realization this was actually happening.
Her face lit up and she shyly leaned up. I didn't hesitate to lean down to meet her; her lips were soft like flower petals and tasted of her favorite cherry chapstick making me sigh contently into the familiarity of the feel and taste of her lips against mine.
"I've missed you." she smiled against my mouth as her hands raised to sink into my hair and pull me closer to kiss me a little bit more boldly.
I could feel the wetness of her tongue run along the seam of my lips asking for entrance and I was more than happy to give in forgetting just how amazing of a kisser she actually was as the first hints of her peppermint toothpaste registered on my tongue as mine met hers. I pressed closer to her as much as I could and slotted my thigh between hers to pin her against the wall. She let out a little exhale of surprise against my mouth as she pressed against the rough fabric of my jean-clad leg. I knew we couldn't go further or try to fool around in the girl's bathroom but I really had missed her and I hated the thought of waiting. But the bathroom door opened allowing entry of a few chattering girls who hadn't noticed our compromising position. At the sound of their voices, we jumped apart and shared a sheepish look. We had to practice not feeling so embarrassed to show our love for each other in public. But for now, I was more than happy to have her at my side again. Sharing a secretive smile I watched her leave the bathroom first without a word and a few minutes later I followed suit. I could see her with Jason again and at first I felt a bit jealous but when she looked over her shoulder at me with that little smile I knew it was okay.
She may not dump Jason right away considering he was pretty much blackmailing her but I knew even when his arm draped over her shoulders that even if he physically had possession of her at that moment. I had her heart. She was mine. Always was and always will be. We'd deal with Jason together and fight any other motherfucker who got in our way just like we used to; together. It was her and I…and my friend Steve.

As Long As I'm Here - Robin Buckley (One-Shot)
Prompt: "As long as I'm here, no one can hurt you."
Pairing: Robin Buckley x You
Genre: Childhood friends to lovers
W.A.C Winner: @stanseventeen
Auth. Note: Thank you so much for the love and support of my work! I hope you enjoy this special one-shot just for you!
Tumblr media
She looked cute today. Nervous as all hell as she stared at herself in the mirror; fluffing her hair and tugging at her clothes ranting a mile a minute to the point you'd just pretty much zoned out on what she was actually saying. Her flustered state had nothing to do with the way you were looking at her of course; she never noticed before and just like now she didn't see the way you're eyes scanned her form from head to toe admiring the leggings that hugged her long legs just right and the way the dress she wore fell just barely to mid-thigh in soft cotton; the cinch round her waist made her hips a little more noticeable than the mom jeans she normally wore. Plainly put, the new style made a difference in her appearance. Long gone were the tomboy clothes and boyish nature of her being. She hated being feminine, that much was obvious but she was making an effort. Effort for the wrong reason and effort for the wrong person.
"Are you listening to me?!" you blink up at her from where you lay lounged in her desk chair; shoes dragging along her carpet to stop the spinning chair that was making you dizzy.
"Yes, Robin. I am listening to you. But for all the words vomiting from your lips I wouldn't say what you're talking about makes much sense babes." you reply resting an arm on the back of the chair to stare at your childhood best friend with a lazy expression.
The girl threw her hands up in the air in exasperation. "Damnit, Woman! Just," she growled under her breath in frustration as she ruffled her hair only to realize what she did and freaked out even more as she spun back around to her mirror to try and fix her short blonde brown hair.
Rolling your eyes you unfold your frame from the chair and walk over to stand behind your friend in the mirror. Your eyes watching with a distasteful scorned look in them. Why did Robin have to put effort into being someone she wasn't? Robin wasn't a priss and she was definitely not the most feminine style-wise. She was a nerd; a pretty nerd, but a nerd nonetheless who played in the marching band for Hawkins High and wore clothes more on the boyish sides than anything else. Yet here she was standing in the mirror acting like a girl. She really didn't realize just how perfect she was without even having to try, that was seriously the saddest part of it. Not the fact that you're best fucking friend in the world was getting dressed up to confess her feelings for another person and that person wasn't you.
Okay, let's rewind this morning. After hours of talking in the wee hours of the morning while the moon still shone in the sky, you'd somehow convinced Robin to pull her big girl panties on and finally confess her feelings for her crush. The crush being none other than Tammy Thomas, a girl that thought she was perfect, a singer in the making despite her voice sounding like a chicken squawking when she sings. Another girl from the school who your best friend had a crush on for the longest time. That wouldn't have been an issue to you if there were not 2 things seriously wrong with this plan. 1 being that Hawkins was not a town that looked fondly on same-sex love prospects. Things had gotten a little better over the years but there was definitely more against the idea that there were pros for it. And number 2 was the fact that you'd been in love with your best friend since you guys were young. You'd grown up with Robin and had known you liked girls before Robin ever did. But you'd kept mum for the very reason that number 1 was presented. And perhaps because you were scared to ruin your friendship with the only friend you had. But you guys weren't kids anymore and you'd both grown up and almost graduated to go to college for Pete's sake! But now that Robin finally got the courage to say how she feels to her crush; you knew your chances of speaking up were mummed. Hell, Robin didn't even know that you liked girls. She'd always thought you liked Steve Harrington which only became a stronger alibi for you since you sort of started hanging out with Steve more towards the beginning of the senior year in high school. So, yeah. You could tell why Robin might think that but she never ever expected to think that her best friend was in love with her. She didn't even look at you that way and it sucked sure but you were selfish when it came to Robin. You'd let her live in her little oblivious state regarding you as long as it meant you could see her happy.
"Just breath Robs." you sigh rubbing her shoulders and resting your chin on her shoulder looking at her through the mirror. "You look beautiful." granted, you preferred her not dressing up where she felt uncomfortable but your words were genuine. She did look pretty it just wasn't her style.
Her hands came up to grab yours on her shoulders and her face softened. "Thanks, you're always so supportive. I don't know what I would do without you," she said softly and all you could do was plaster a smile on your face and squeeze her shoulders a second.
"You're my best fucking friend Robin. I'll always be there for you babes," you tell her honestly even when your heart broke a little at the thought that she may never be yours.
When you finally arrived at school you made a beeline for Steve who was talking with another classmate by the lockers as Robin left your side to go in search of Tammy Thomson. Your face said it all and Steve knew it the second his dark gaze turned from his classmate to look over their shoulder at your figure as it stalked across the hall towards him.
"Shit," he muttered as he excused himself and quickly met you halfway; hand grasping at your arms as he saw the look on your face. "She seriously doing it?" his voice was soft so no one else could hear. Steve knew all about Robin's plan to confess thanks to you calling him this morning before your bestie woke up.
"Yeah, she fucking is!" you mutter looking around feeling the bubbling of emotions all over the place. You want to be supportive you really do. But you also wanted to cry because frankly, you couldn't bare the thought that you're the best friend that you've been in love with since you were like 13 and had the possibility of being in a relationship with someone else.
"Shit sweetheart I'm sorry. Maybe she'll be turned down and then you can be there for her you know? All hopes not lost you just gotta keep it positive." bless his soul for wanting to be supportive but as a straight man himself, Steve just didn't understand the lesbian language of emotion. But you gave him brownie points for at least trying.
But it didn't last long. The day had taken its course and you hadn't yet seen Robin or heard anything of what was going on until halfway through the school day during lunch when you and Steve were on the way towards the bleachers to eat outside together when a figure rushed past them towards the girl's bathroom. Her clothes were trashed with whatever cafeteria food and drink were on the menu today was now all over her pretty outfit. At first, you thought 'what a poor soul' thinking another classmate just got bullied but when those blue eyes locked tearily on yours just seconds before the figure disappeared inside the bathroom you felt your heart stutter. That 'poor soul' was Robin. Steve confused and worried tried calling out to you as you shoved past everyone in favor of making your way into the bathroom.
At first, you didn't see Robin but you could hear her. The sound of crying from the farthest stall inside the bathroom was a dead giveaway but at least she was alone; that much you were thankful for. Taking a few steps in you called out to her to let her know you were here.
"Robin, honey are you okay?" you say concerned as you walked further inside the room. You paused in front of the locked stall door and rested your hand on the cold surface. "Baby, can you let me in? Please?" you plead softly, trying to coax her to open up.
It was only a few seconds but it felt like forever as you heard her shuffling and moments later the stall lock was slid open and the door swung outwards towards you allowing you to fully see the damage done. Your mouth dropped seeing the goop of whatever the hell was lunch smeared in a gross-looking pattern all over her sweater dress and her hair was mostly damp with what was probably milk at one point. The mascara she'd applied so mechanically that morning was smeared beneath her eyes and spilling down in black streaks down her face along with the tears. She looked wrecked and heartbroken that much was evident by the gleam in her blue eyes and slump of her shoulders as she hugged herself.
"She called me a freak…a-and disgusting because I liked girls…" her voice was soft almost inaudible with how much she was mumbling over the words.
Anger flared up in you at that and you shook your head as you reached out slowly as if testing to see if she'd be too scared to be touched but when your fingers grasped her upper arms you were relieved that she did not pull away and you guided her out of the stall in favor of leading her to the sink. You didn't say anything at first, instead silently tugging off the sweatshirt you wore over your T-shirt and holding it out to her.
"Here, go ahead and change into this okay? I got some gym shorts you can change into also." you placed your bag onto the sink counter and dug into it to grab the pair of green and white gym shorts and handed them over. She looked hesitant as she held the items
"But my clothes-" you hush her with a shake of your head and carefully helped to peel off her sweater dress from her body. Trying to be respectful as you saw she wore nothing but a camisole underneath her dress and you absently thought the silk looked nice against her skin but you quickly look away in favor of grabbing the soiled dress to dunk it underneath the spray of sink water as you turned it on and thus allowing Robin to change from her leggings and into the gym shorts provided.
As she changed you used the sink and soap to wash as much of the stains you could from her clothing. After ringing out the access water you plopped the clothes off to the side before turning to look at Robin who stood behind you with her arms wrapped around herself. You sigh reaching out and rubbing her arms as a way of comforting her.
"Come here babes." you tug her towards the running water and instructed her to bend over. You did the same thing as you did with her clothes by ringing her hair out under the cold water and using the hand soap to get the crust from the strands of her hair and once you were satisfied that her hair was as clean as it was going to get without a proper shower you helped dry her hair with loads of paper towels.
"I'm sorry that happened Robs." you finally speak up as she hopped up onto the counter; absently kicking her bare legs out in front of her as you grab another paper towel and soaked it in water before you slotted yourself between her bare thighs so that you could wipe her make up away.
"I should have known better. Our time in age doesn't approve of such things." Robin shrugged but it didn't help the fact that her heart was broken and her soul humiliated.
You hated Tammy Thomas in that moment. You never really liked her in the beginning but now you had every reason not to like her even more. But you didn't say any of that and instead finished wiping away the makeup and leaning over to toss the crumbled paper towel away before turning towards your best friend with a look so earnest you had to tilt her chin up so that she was looking at you.
"Fuck it," you said simply with a shake of your head. "Fuck it all. Fuck this school, Fuck the opinions of others, Fuck 'em all. They don't matter. Stop worrying about the opinions and words of others who never had your best interest in mind in the very beginning. So what if they don't approve? Time and age will continue to move and evolve with or without them but that shouldn't stop you from taking risks and loving yourself even if it means putting yourself out there." you tell her seriously as you cup her face and peer up into her blue eyes; a soft smile playing at your mouth as you notice her own turning up into a soft half-heart smile.
"Since when did you get so wise?" she quipped trying to be a little bit chipper despite just what happened. You wouldn't know it but you being here with her meant everything to the girl.
"I've always been wise, people are always surprised when I give advice. The problem is I don't often follow my own advice." you shrug with a small smile. "Perhaps I should more often huh?"
Her head tilted into your palm and you couldn't help but lick your lips; watching as her gaze fell to them at the movement of your tongue, you noticed she didn't look away for a hot minute and your lips pulled up into a small smile. "And what advice are you not following?" Robin asked softly looking back up to yours.
You hum with a slight smile and shrugged. "All of it I guess. See, the truth is I never liked Tammy Thomas. You wanna know why?"
She hummed in reply and in question as she absently continued nuzzling into your palm. "Why's that?"
"Because she had everything that I wanted." you scan her face wondering if she would get the meaning behind your words. She didn't, of course, she didn't but if the world was showing you anything today it was that you sometimes had to take the risk so you went for it.
"She had your attention, your devotion, and your love. You talked about her in ways that I wish you'd have talked to me about. You looked at her the way that I've always wanted you to look at me…" your words were softly spoken seeing the realization dawn on her face along with the blush that graced her cheeks that you could feel the heat of them under your hands.
"W-what?! Since when?" she spluttered eyes wide in awe.
"Since we were 13," you confess with a slight laugh as your head drops to her chest. "I've been in love with you since we were 13. Probably longer to be honest, but I knew when I was 13 that you were all I ever wanted and it fucking killed me when you're eyes would look at other girls the way that I always craved you to look at me like that."
"All that time…shit…" Robin whispered; her breath tickling the top of your head as she leaned her cheek against your hair. You laughed a bit and nodded.
"Trust me I know…I've wanted to tell you for so fucking long Robin trust me…I almost did but I was always afraid of ruining our friendship…afraid of what it'd mean if I found myself unable to have you by my side in whatever compacity." you confessed further and finally raised your head to look at her. She didn't say anything for a moment and you were starting to get nervous.
"Say something please…you're kind of freaking me out right now with the staring." you lick your lips nervously but your tongue barely had a chance to disappear back into your mouth before Robin leaned forward and pressed her lips against yours.
You froze for a split second as your brain tried to comprehend that your childhood best friend was kissing you. But only for a second. Not long enough for Robin to pull away even if she wanted to because goddamnit you'd been waiting for this moment for years. So you did the only thing you could think of and that was to pull her closer by the back of her neck with one hand while the other grabbed a handful of her plush thigh; trying to pull her as close to you as you could because the taste of her lipgloss was addictive as much as the feel of her beneath your hands were. The kiss was almost desperate even when it wasn't rushed. Many years of pent-up longing pour deeply into the act of physical love as you try to convey just how much Robin meant to you. It was different, sure you had kissed boys before. During your phase of trying to get over Robin when you thought she would never look at you twice like that. But it never held a candle to finally being able to express the love and devotion that you held for this smart, funny, and goofy girl in front of you.
You wanted to take things deeper. You wanted to hold her and kiss her, you wanted to cradle her so close to you and cuddle her at night; never leaving each other's side. But you knew that you weren't going to do any of that. Not until you heard her side of things. So, with a regrettable longing, you pull away to study her dazed expression. You licked your lips; tasting her on them along with the smear of lipgloss she'd applied that morning as you studied her. Giving her a moment to open her eyes and gather her wits.
"That was….wow." there was a sort of giddiness about her face and for a second you thought you kissed her dumb but her eyes focused again on you and you waited with a raised brow and curious eyes.
"I didn't know I needed that…" she mumbled studying your face. "For the longest time, I thought I needed to look elsewhere for someone who loved me…but I guess I should have been looking in front of me huh?" you chuckle slightly and shake your head.
"Look babe, I don't want you to think that you need to give me an answer now or if you don't feel the same that's completely fine. I don't want you to think you need to choose me."
"But you're a perfect choice…" Robin's arms wrapped around your neck to pull you closer. "It's not just me saying this because you're my best friend…you've always been my best friend and you've always had my back. Always there for me when no one else would fight for me." you try to shrug it off and you looked away from her imploring gaze but she wouldn't let you. Instead, she nudged your face back to look at her and there was a softness about her features.
"I love you. And not just as a best friend…I guess I always have just took me until now to actually realize what I needed was right in front of me all along." Robin pressed her forehead against yours and smiled at you. "Forgive me for not seeing it sooner?"
Your eyes rolled a bit and you wrapped your arms around her waist to draw her closer. "Nothing to forgive birdie." your fingers wiggle against her sides making her giggle as you gave her light tickles.
"Thanks for always being there for me…You always were there to pick me up when I needed it." Robin giggled and your features softened at the sound.
Squeezing her sides a bit you looked up into her pretty eyes and smiled softly. "As long as I'm here. No one will hurt you. I promise." you whisper before tipping her chin up so that you could kiss her again.
A knock at the bathroom door broke through the moment and it began to open. A hesitent Steve peeked his head around the door with his hand over his eyes. "I'm not looking but are you guys okay?" he asked.
"Yes Steve." you laugh a bit watching as his hand fell from his eyes in relief and surveyed the scene in front of him. His brows popping up on his forehead as he saw the pair of you. "Oh just say it." you quip feeling a smile tug at your lips even when youe words were meant to sound annoyed.
"I totally told you so."

It's Our Time - Peter Ballard (One-Shot)
Summary: You and Peter had known each other since you were children; emprisoned in the Hawkins Laboratory for the abilities you were born with. Now, grown-up many years later you realize that perhaps there is more to the pair of you than you first thought.
W.A.C. Winner: @homeinaplaceofmadness
Chapter Warning: Make-Out Session and possessive behavior
Auth. Note: I hope you enjoy this reading! I haven't done a Peter Ballard one-shot before so I'm so sorry if I fumbled it! XD
Tumblr media
You had always been an odd little child. You found comfort in the company of animals; much preferring the silence of the critters to human interaction. Because of this, you were considered an outcast not only in your school but even misunderstood within the walls of your home. Your parents pretended to try and understand but even as a young child, you could see the tightness behind their smiles and the emotion of fear in their eyes. People fear what they do not understand, and no one understood you. You had known you were different though. Not just because no one liked you for reasons you could never comprehend; but because you could feel it. A sort of energy within you that kept you apart from the others. You did not understand what it was but it sure did make things difficult for you to make friends. You were in all aspects of things a social pariah. The children in the neighborhood would be told to not speak to you if they saw you come outside to play and if they saw you approach they were to leave or go inside. It sucked and you were lonely. But you found the comfort of animals better company anyway. They did not judge you or fear you; if anything they were drawn to you like a moth to a flame. It became apparent that your love of animals was beyond just a child in need of some form of love and comfort you were otherwise lacking in other places.
It started normal at first, birds would come regularly one by one to the house despite there not being a bird feeder. This your parents chalked up to you secretly feeding them bread or rackers from your bedroom window since they always sat outside on the branches of the tree outside your window or even some brave ones sitting on the window sill. Then, came the cats. Problem was, you did not have a pet cat. No, they were all strays; drawn in by you. The amount of cats that would gather on your front porch would make a lonely cat lady jealous. This was a problem for your parents because not only was your father allergic to cats but they would cause many problems. Knocking over potted plants that your mother loved dearly or trying to eat the fish in the pond out in your garden that your grandfather had painstakingly built by hand when he was still alive. It all came to a head when the other critters began making an appearance. Raccoons, squirrels, and even rats came to the house. Deer too, but they became too much of a problem when people would constantly hit them crossing the road. Your parents were fed up as the bills piled high from the neighborhood community charging them for car repairs, property damage, and overall chaos that surrounded their homes.
So they had done the only thing they could think of and that was to send you to a doctor to see what was wrong with you. Yes, they believed you had something mentally wrong with you. But they were wrong; what you had was not something wrong. It was a gift. Only they did not see it as such. A friend of theirs in another state had been contacted with whatever details your parents had of your condition; you had heard them on the phone talking to the man on the other end of the line acting like you were some kind of freak. Again, people feared what they could not comprehend with their minds even after seeing it with their own eyes. You had no choice in the matter; two days later a dark-tinted van pulled up in your driveway and a woman stood dressed sharply in a suit waiting to take you away.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you found yourself in the state of Hawkins, Indiana in the Hawkins laboratory. They called it a hospital for face sake but really, it was run by a man named Dr. Brenner; someone who found unusual abilities in the form of people. He had a vision of finding those who possessed such incredible abilities and running not only tests on the subjects but as a way of protecting them from others who did not understand the supernatural and strange. That is where you had landed. In his care, you are his very first encounter with something strange. Thus earning you a tattoo on your forearm with the number 000 in black ink forever engraved into your flesh. From there, he used you as a brick to build the facility. From you, came Henry. A boy around your age who possessed incredible abilities and saw the world in a whole different way. You were much like him, a solitary creature who found the comfort of animals over the presence of humanity, and perhaps that was the reason the pair of you clung to each other. You had been here longer than he when he first came in so naturally, you took him under your wing; protecting him the best you could. You confined in him about your abilities even when he saw it for himself during lessons. He was your rock in a sense.
You grew up and a decade later the facility was filled with young children with all sorts of abilities that revolved around telekinesis just like Henry and yourself; a power you had found you had during your stay in the labs. You never did hear from your parents again though. When you became too old to be patient Dr. Brenner offered you a chance to be an orderly; a staff member that helped watch over the children. You could not bear the thought of these kids enduring all of this alone as you had for the longest time, so you stayed. Partly for that thought but mostly due to the fact you had nothing else to live for. Dr. Brenner or Papa as he liked being called was all you had in the world apart from Henry that is. Henry, or Peter as Papa renamed him, soon joined you as an orderly and he watched the children in the rainbow room with you.
You did not know when your dynamic had changed. Perhaps, it was when you outgrew your little girl phase and began to fill out your form. Or perhaps it was just recently. But you had been noticing a sort of change of energy between you and Peter. You didn't know what it truly was between you but you liked that electricity that sparked your skin anytime you two happened to touch and whatever energy boiled between you did not last long until it was boiling over the metaphorical pot.
~
"Henry, it's alright it's just a small cut! Let's go back to the room and finish our shift okay? It's not that bit of a deal really!" you felt the pool of something low in your belly at the look in his blue eyes as he closed the staff room behind him.
That metaphorical pot of water had finally boiled over today; you didn't even realize it was happening. One minute the pair of you were in the rainbow room with the children and you were crouching down with number 002 speaking to him when the boy who was known for having a big ego and a terrible temper hit you in the face with one of the blocks that he had been trying to stack. the wood on any other given day would have been smooth and polished down so it would be safer for the children but today even with its physical safeties the toy object had not only knocked a bruise onto your forehead but because 002 used his telekinetic abilities while doing it; had made a shallow cut above your eyebrow. You didn't know what happened as you were grabbed away from the child and ushered from the room by strong hands on your arms until you were shoved into a room and turned to find Henry locking the door of the staff room behind the two of you.
The darkness in his usually kind blue eyes was startling and it made you jittery but it also made the pool in your lower belly churn with what you could only assume was excitement. You liked the dangerous glint in his eye as he stalked forward and one pale hand raised to grip your chin; twisting your head into the light so that he could see the cut better. His usually soft features were sharp now; the light above you two casting razer sharp shadows along his face.
"He should not have done that." his voice was low as slender fingers probed around the cut making you wince. "He will be punished for hurting you Y/n."
You sigh knowing it was true, the cameras could not lie and you knew Peter would back you up even when you did not wish harm to come to the boy. You knew he struggles just like all the others in different ways; his bouts of anger were not always meant for you so you did not feel hurt by his actions. Simply understanding. But Peter did not see it as such. He had always been very protective of you; often taking the punishments made for you any chance he could just so you wouldn't have to suffer. But this time was different. There was a different feeling conforming his face that went beyond the need to protect you; you realized as you studied his features what it was and it made your heart stutter a bit. Possession. He was possessive of you. That much was evident by the way his free hand gripped your shoulder tightly while the other checked your minimal injury. Swallowing, you raised a hand to grab his wrist and pulled it away from your wound to regain his attention. Your eyes peering up at him imploringly.
"It's alright, Peter. I promise! Papa will sort everything out himself. There is no need for you to interfere." you tried to convince but the way the blonde man's nostrils flared you were not having the best of luck in convincing him.
"He hurt what's mine." the words came out with dark intent before he could check himself as his hand cups your cheek; thumb brushing along the apple of your cheek
You let that little comment slide even when it shot a feeling of electricity through your body. "Henry…" his true name slipped free out of habit and something inside of him coiled up.
The hand that was caressing your cheek a moment ago stilled before it slowly slid down to the column of your throat where those long fingers curled; not enough to choke the breath but enough to gain your attention. A slight flash of fear reflected in your eyes as you met his gaze to see the blue color you loved so much nearly overcome by the blackness of his pupils.
"What did you just call me?" his voice was soft but commanding something inside of you.
shuddering a bit you lick your lips; an action those blown eyes followed intently. "P-Peter." you squeaked out but the grip on your neck tightened.
"Say it again."
There was a beat of silence before your lips parted and one word, one name, slipped from your lips that caught the pot of boiling water on fire. "Henry."
The grip on your throat pulled you forwards into his chest and his mouth that damned mouth you had recently found yourself staring at, pressed against yours in a hungry all-consuming kiss. He acted as if you were his last meal. As if you were the only source of water as if a man was stuck in a desert. His free hand grabbed your hip to press you closer to his frame; your body going limp and compliant against his as it bowed and arched up into him. He backed you up against the table, a grunt leaving you when the edge dug uncomfortably into your thighs. But he did not allow you to dwell on the feeling as he yanked your thigh up making you plop your ass onto the glossy white surface of the table and slot himself between your thighs. Never once allowing you away from his mouth and tongue that began to sweep inside to tangle with yours and to lick at your teeth. You were desperately holding onto him, not experienced in this sort of thing but damn did it feel good. He consumed you until there was nothing left. When the lack of breath burned your lungs you pulled away with harsh gasps. Clutching onto him as his head ducked low to kiss along your jaw and down the column of your throat eliciting a whimper of pleasure from you.
"W-what got you so excited?" you tried to quip as your eyes closed on their own accord and your head tipped back to allow him more room.
"Do you know how long it's been since you called me by my true name?" his head pulled away as he stared down at you with bright eyes alight with a sense of frenzy. "Do you know how long I've craved to have you against me like this?"
You blink your eyes up at him in a daze; fingers clutching at his white uniform shirt. "I didn't…didn't think you liked me like that," you admit a bit shy now.
You thought your attraction was only one-sided and only because you two were the closest pairs who grew up together. You were all each other had in this awful place. But hearing the fact that he did in fact crave you as much as you did him sent a fire through you.
"Oh my sweet little Y/n, you should know me better than that." a grin slowly played at his lips as he leaned closer to you until his eyes were all you could focus on. "You're everything to me."
"But.." you swallow and pull away a bit as rationality comes back. "we can't do this…we'll get caught. You know how angry Papa can get sometimes…do you really want to risk it?"
"For you, anything. See. I have a plan to get us out of here and take Papa down with us." the dark haunting look was back in those pretty eyes even when his features went soft again. "I have a plan…will you go with me?'
You stare up at him for a long moment thinking back to all those memories you had shared together and created together and you realized you wouldn't risk letting him go alone. If he was going to go down then you were going with him. Nodding slowly you wrap your arms around his neck; allowing him to duck into your, his taller frame bending to mold into your smaller one and bury his face into your shoulder. Your fingers carted through the silken strands of blonde locks as you let out a small breath.
"It's about time we fight for our own lives."

Update #1
Alrighty, guys! With the end of this week's W.A.C. winner one-shots completed I would like to announce that I will be TEMPORARILY stopping any Stranger Things writing which also included the actors that play them; which means no more new Joseph Quinn or Jamie Campbell Bower one-shots coming out. Again, This is only TEMPORARY. I will resume when I regain the creative juices for it. But, as I have started a new series The Sandman on Netflix, I have been itching to write more of this series and cannot in my good right mind continue to write anything else without giving terrible writing efforts.
Anyone who would like to read more of my The Sandman content they are more than welcome to, I know a lot of you will not be too happy to hear about my hiatus from the Stranger Things genre for a little bit, and for that I am sorry, I am not getting rid or stopping completely; just until this bout of creative writing for another fandom runs it's course!
Please feel free to continue reading, reblogging, and writing to me if you care to! I would still love to hear from you, and if you are one who does not know The Sandman series on Netflix, darling you need to go watch it! Much love is appreciated for any interactions given to my work!
This update will also mean another small tweak in the W.A.C; the only genres that I will be writing one-shots for a few weeks will be either Supernatural or The Sandman. I know this will probably result in many of you either ignoring my messages as 2-3/4 winners usually do or outright decline the offer which I will completely understand all things considering.
Anyway, thank you for reading and I sincerely hope that you guys do not lose faith in me or abandon my work solely because I have stopped writing a certain genre; that would seriously make me sad (but I would understand). Love you guys!
