“I can create many things out of metal”, he replied with a small grin. There was a lot more about him Joey probably couldn’t even imagine, but hey, maybe they’d end up sitting down one day and talk about all that. Who knows.
Rein looked at the ball and hummed softly. “Mhmm.. You got a point there.” He walked next to it, poked it with his finger to make sure no one would try to hit him through it but when nothing happened Rein picked the ball up and followed Joey back to the cars that had gotten wrecked. He set the ball down next to the car which’s hood he had taken and while Joey was busy talking with people Rein made sure the car had a new hood and some of the metal bits got straightened as well so you could at least try to drive the car to a repair shop.
Once he was done – and Joey seemed to be done with the people as well – the nymph gave him a nod, picked up the ball again and headed back to Joey’s house. Once he was there, he just headed back to the man’s backyard – using the gate this time – and walked next to the pit. Rein eyed at the hole for a moment before looking up to Joey. “Should I just drop this there or set it down carefully? I feel like tossing it in, really.”
“I’ve noticed,” Joey said with a chuckle and a nod. “So you’re a nymph then?” He asked. The only other option would be witch or metal atronach, and he knew Rein was neither because he could feel the fae energy from him but knew he wasn’t Joey’s kinship.
He watched out of the corner of his eye as Rein did his best to get the cats at least unwrapped from the poles and mailboxes they’d hit. It could have always been far worse. It was then that he heard sirens approaching and was happy Rein was ready to go, because he didn’t want to talk to the cops about this.
Once they reached his yard and were at the edge of the hole Joey had been digging not long before, he smirked over at Rein, crossing his arms. “Chuck that punk in there. Don’t be gentle,” he agreed, ire apparent in his voice. The hole looked more grave-like than ever from this vantage point. Very fitting.

“I know the sheriff,” Joey answered simply. He assumed many people knew the sheriff, so he quickly added, “he thought I’d be a good addition to the department with my military background and all that.” And the fact that he thought Joey needed more structure in his life. And Ephram certainly wasn’t wrong about that.
But taking a goat into his home on a whim? That wasn’t structured. At all. But still, the little girl was so damn cute. Her little eyes were slowly closing as she laid her head on Joeys bicep. “She must have gotten tuckered out being lost in the woods all day,” he guessed aloud, his heart quickly melting in spite of himself.
“Okay, alright, we’ll try it out. We’ll see,” he finally relented. “I’ve got my toolshed I could clear out and make into a mini barn. There’s the problem of me being away from home a lot, but the nymph across the alley, Cynthia, she absolutely adores animals. She did steal a pal of mine’s dog once, but I think she’s learned her lesson,” Joey chuckled. The goatling suddenly woke with a startled baa, probably jolted form a bad dream.
“There you go,” he grunted, setting her on the ground where she clopped away and started to frolic and jump in the grass. He put his hands on his hips and sighed. “You just had to bring her to a softy like me, huh?” He joked.

Rein noticed the blush and it only made him want to know what else might get the man blush. Blushing had always been something that had caught Rein’s interest, especially the reasons why that happened. But he wasn’t going to do all that now, he’d have time for it later for sure. They had more important business to deal with right now.
He rolled his eyes at the imps reply and then just grinned when the first lighting flew through the air. That was so damn cool to just control something that was truly extremely powerful and out of control. But Rein pulled himself out of being awed by the blue-white lightning to concentrate on his own task.
Once it seemed like there was only one spot where the imp was hopping Rein threw the metla bowl in the air. He didn’t really use much power on the throwing because that way it wouldn’t fly far enough. But that’s why the cup was out of metal because Rein could control it with his powers even if it’d be in the distance. And the further the metal piece flew from Rein the quicker it moved and eventually it was hard to even see where exactly it was going. Until it landed straight on the imp. Just to make sure the creature would stay inside of it Rein’s hand formed a fist and he twisted his wrist a bit – the open edges of the bowl grew together forming a ball, trapping the imp inside. “Use the wards.” He didn’t know would Joey need to say something for them to work or would they work as it is or what the deal with them was.
For a moment Joey was too in awe of Rein’s abilities to even register what had been said to him. Being able to shape metal when touching it was one thing, but from afar? And so quickly and efficiently? Made him feel like ‘just lightning’ again for a second, but he shook his head as he realized the imp was trapped and Rein had called out to him. Time to focus again.
Dents were appearing on the metal sphere as the imp attempted to brute force its way out. The wards were useless without his magic to power them, so with a deep breath, Joey sent another bolt flying toward the sphere, his horns curling out from his head as he did so, giving it that little extra oomph that it needed.
The lightning struck the sphere and zipped across the wards he’d carved into the metal, tracing them with electricity and leaving a dull blue glow to them. The imp’s banging stopped, and everything was quiet for a few peaceful moments.
“That family ain’t getting their hood back,” Joey said, a snort of a laugh escaping him. “The imp is bound inside. And won’t be compelling anyone to free him anytime soon.” Joey looked around at all the destruction the imp had caused with these two accidents. But luckily, nobody had been too badly hurt. “Want to put the sucker back where we found him?”

“Just electricity?” Rein asked with a raised brow. “Can you make lightning and make it hit anywhere you want? Because that could be a way to make sure the imp would go to a direction where we want it to go.” To Rein ‘just electricity’ wasn’t ‘just’ a thing. To him it was a power that could grow in huge measurements and definitely a useful one. Sure, it was completely different compared to his own, but there were a lot possibilities what you could do with electricity.
“Not sure would it be able to go through me, but I’m not eager to give that a try”, Rein replied and let Joey take the metal thingie from his hands. He looked curiously what he was doing to it and for his own surprise he had no idea what those symbols even were. Wards were a familiar things, but Rein had never truly looked much into them to truly know their meaning. So he just nodded and looked at Joey as he took the cup back. “Alright. Lets give it a try.”
He looked towards the direction where the imp had been the last time and at first he didn’t see a thing. But then he saw the tip of the red tail behind a tree. “Oi, you little shit”, he yelled at the thing, “Why are you running away, huh? You think you can’t beat us if we’d actually go for a fight?” Rein was trying to provoke the thing on purpose, just to make it show its face and possibly stop to yell back at them. Which would give them a great chance to capture it.
Joey blushed a bit at Rein’s compliments, even if they weren’t meant to be compliments. He had high reverence for his kind and what they could do, but it was hard not to think of himself as a bit of a one trick pony at times. “I can sling bolts of lightning, yeah.” And Rein was tight. He could force the imp where they wanted him. Like shooting at someone’s feet to make them dance.
Once they reached the accident, Joey whipped his head around when he heard Rein call out to the imp, following the nymph’s gaze to spot the creature as well. “I like to see you squirm,” the imp hissed from behind the tree, followed by a cackling laughter. Joey looked to Rein, giving him a nod before letting his arms transform into their black rock form, sending out a bolt of blue-white lightning from his fingertips. It struck the trunk of the tree and it fell, luckily not hitting anything or anyone else, and exposed the imp behind.
“You messed with the wrong fae, creep,” Joey said, before sending out another bolt, and another, leaving the ground smoking where they struck, thunderclaps echoing around the neighborhood on a sunny, clear day. Only in Soapberry. It was working though. The imp was practically dancing for him as it zipped around to avoid the lightning. “Get him!” Joey instructed, continuing to force him out and closer to them.

Rein felt relieved to see the cord loosened letting Joey breath again, but what he hadn’t expected was to have someone actually living in that phone. His hands turned back to skin and bones and with extremely deep frown on his face his gaze followed the puff of smoke. When it disappeared from his sight he tiptoed trying to see what the thing actually was. Rein was shorter than Joey so he didn’t quite see anything else than the head of the red creature. “An imp.. of course”, the nymph muttered under his breath and tossed the pieces of the toy phone out of the pit.
He rolled his eyes at the imp’s comment but it came as a total surprise that Joey wanted to go after the imp. Rein didn’t really get it why he wanted to do that, it was just an imp, but whatever the reason was, Rein ended up helping the man out anyway. He laced his fingers together and offered his hands as a step Joey could use as a way to get out of the pit easier.
Although Rein wasn’t quite sure how exactly he himself would get out of it since he was shorter but he’d figure out something.. Maybe it would be a good chance on trying to control the earth too, after all, it did have metals in it – minerals and stuff. Or maybe he’d try to lean his legs on the other side of the pit and his arms on the other and then pretend to be a crab and climb up sideways. Or maybe he’ll just sit at the bottom of it until Joey would be back from the imp hunting. Whatever the way would be, right now Rein just made sure Joey would get out of the hole.
Joey graciously took Reins silent offer of a boost and stepped onto the mans laced hands with his boot, springing out of the hole and clambering to his feet. The imp wasn’t too far away just yet. Still in the alleyway. So Joey reached down and offered a hand to Rein to help him out of the hole.
Grabbing the man’a forearm, he yanked him up and onto the ground with him. “He went that way,” Joey said, starting toward his gate. “That thing is up to no good and it’s not hurting anyone on my watch,” he informed, more voicing his intentions aloud than talking to Rein directly. But then he turned to see if he was following.
“I’ve never seen an imp before. You’re sure that’s what it was?” He could hear the creature cackling at the end of the alley. It had turned back around as if to wait for them to catch up. To taunt them. Joey scowled in its direction.

Rein had seen this kind of phones around time to time, but since he never had been a child he hadn’t ever used one himself. But what he did know was the fact that those phones definitely didn’t ring. They were just plastic. So the fact that this specific phone was ringing felt so wrong.
Especially when the phone said their names. Rein looked at the other with a deep frown on his face. Rein had been too busy thinking about the hole in the ground he hadn’t been paying attention on his senses that would’ve told him that he was in the company of a fellow fae. But now that it had came out Rein had to agree that whoever this caller was they were right. Sure this Joey fellow wasn’t a nymph, but clearly a fae of sorts.
Rein didn’t get to think that for long when the person on the phone kept talking and Rein looked down at the phone, just listening what an earth was going on. The more the whatever talked the more skeptical Rein became. He squinted his eyes a bit and then looked at Joey. Rein covered the receiver with his hand so the person on the phone wouldn’t hear him.
“This sounds like bullshit”, he whispered, making sure no one else near him would hear him either. “If it’d be a friendly spirit it wouldn’t be talking like that. And the way it chooses its words, like it’s important for it to escape? That’s shady as hell.”
Joey could see the skepticism on Rein’s face before he even spoke. As the man covered the receiver and leaned in, Joey turned his good ear toward him so he could hear the whispers. He nodded along with Rein’s reasoning, but his lips were still pressed together in a thin, thoughtful line.
“What if it really does need help though?” Joey, ever the optimist. But then it dawned on him the being on the other end of the phone had pointed out this exact thing. Joey liked to help people, and it was counting on that. “No, no, you’re right. This is shady.” He shook his head, clicking his tongue thoughtfully. “What do we do then?”
“I can hear you,” the voice said. The plastic phone started to vibrate in Rein’s hands, the unblinking eyes on the front morphing into a threatening scowl. “If you wont cooperate like good boys, I have ways to be very...persuasive.”
The receiver jumped from Rein’s hand toward Joey’s head. He dodged it, but the cord snaked it’s way around his throat, squeezing tight. He hardened his neck to black obsidian rock, but it was as if the magic behind this malevolent thing was able to bypass his own magic, the rock splintering under the pressure.
