Thank you, @winterandwords for the lovely (and given an eon ago) words of hope, home, hold, and hole 💗 I went fishing in my marinating royal taster WIP today.

Hope:

Around one small corner the hall stopped in a dead end. Angry now, Sal hit the wall in frustration. There was a rattling noise, as though a beast deep within was groaning and dragging himself out of bed. A moment later, the wall opened in a door half Sal’s height, revealing a cramped enclosed space. A dumbwaiter, Sal realized. The staff’s way of bringing trays to all the rooms of the palace. And Sal’s only hope at an escape route.

Home:

Anaar sent her an appraising stare, and then nearly choked himself on a chunk of onion. “Don’t worry,” he gasped between coughing bouts. “It’s not poison, it’s just me.” Sal pushed her water cup over—it was all they had. Anaar barely looked up, grabbing the cup and drinking rapidly. There was something admirable in the way everything he touched was his, as easy as that. Her leftovers, her cup, the table position. Sal imagined touching a book from the library and owning it for that afternoon. She imagined feeling at home in her rooms.

Hold:

At the base, Sal bent and slipped out of her sandals. She waited for Jinhai to do the same to his slippers. “So your toes can hold on too,” she explained, and then grabbed one of the lowest branches. “Aren’t you going to tell me how to do it?” Sal paused, hanging like a monkey. “No,” she said. “Can’t you see what I’m doing? Just follow along.”

“Well, you should’ve said so then,” Sal said, but without much heat. She was learning this about Anaar—he was strange and didn’t always make sense, but he was the most interesting thing in the whole city. Maybe the whole world. “You’ve got to be nice to him,” Anaar said. “Not just because he’s a prince and could have you exiled if you don’t. Because he’s just like us. Because that could be us, if we were a little unluckier.”

The Witch Queen

The History Of The Witch Queen

Before the Witch Queen was the evil frigid bitch she is today, she was a normal little girl. Well, she was normal until her powers manifested, but we'll get there. She didn't go by the title of Witch Queen yet obviously, but they didn't give her a name, so I'mma just gonna call her Khione (which means snow. I thought it suited her).

Khione was the daughter of a nobleman and lived on the countryside. She was friends with Alain who was an orphan who her father took in as long as he worked the stables.

Khione used to be bullied by the other noble girls for being undesirable. This effects her greatly because when she grows up she, along with the other noble girls, are to be in competition to court the King of the land. One day Khione's power manifested and she discovered she could freeze things and she was estatic. She practices and plays with it. She becomes very skilled with her power.

When she became of age, she went to the Capital alone to court the King. She was head over heels for him. She was doing great, but when Khione finally built up the courage to ask him if they could be together the King declined because he could sense a darkness in her, and couldn't in good conscience marry her and put her on the throne. Khione begs him to give her a chance and there is no darkness and she loves him, but he refuses. She leaves the castle devestated and upset.

This is where things start going south. Khione wanders the Capital streets visibly sad when a mysterious voice calls out to her. The mysterious person's a seller who notices her being upset and persuades her to by a jewel. The seller says the jewel would help her solve her troubles.

Unbeknownst to her, The jewel contained darkness that caused her to hallucinate a version of herself in the mirror. This version showed her a life of everything she ever wanted. A life where she finally marries the King. The jewel tells her to focus her energy into the jewel and that dream of marrying the King will become a reality. She does and is transformed into the Witch Queen. The jewel appears in the centerpiece of her crown.

She hurries to see the King as she thinks he'll finally accept her, but is rejected again. The Witch Queen is devestated and doesn't understand why he would still reject her after this. This enrages the Witch Queen and she will either murder or poison the Old King and his council members depending on the route your playing. She then takes over the Kingdom with evil magic and deception.

War started the second Witch Queen killed those councilors. The Witch Queen gathered generals to aid her effort in taking over the Kingdom.

Generals

Her first recruit is Alain, who had just recently moved to the Capital and became a Knight so that he could be with her again. She manipulates his devotion for her to make him kill for her. Next is Magnus who was a respectable general from the Capital, who at some point switch to the Witch Queen's side as all he cares about is being on the winning side and he believes the Witch Queen is more powerful.

Lennox and Jinhai eventually join because they just want to do what they want, no consequences. (Lennox gets to manipulate people to join his cult and Jinhai gets to reject Elven rules and have a havan for his beasts).

Last is Helena. Helena heard of the Witch Queen's powerful magic and decided to steal it for herself. She failed, but the Witch Queen saw potential in her. The Witch Queen tutors Helena in magic, something her village shunned her for. Helena fell in love with the Witch Queen, but it was really a manipulated relationship. The Witch Queen only used her and treated her like her pet, and Helena grew to have a warped view of what love should be because of this.

Opposition

The war lasted for 10 years. Reiner's father and older brother lead the opposition but was killed, leaving Reiner the next heir to the human domain. He led the fight with his retainers.

Retainers

August became a retainer after he was the sole survivor of an ambush by Alain's troops. Reiner noticed he had a resistance to magic and was a loyal Knight. He became his retainer.

Ishara already joined the fight and Iseul was tasked to assist Lord Reiner due to obligation since their families were close.

Altea was said to join the fight one day out of nowhere. She was a match for Helena who was already manipulated by the Witch Queen. Her magic use was said to be very helpful and helped turned the tide of the war. Saerys notes she saved them many times. Reiner knew who she really was, and offered her a retainer spot regardless.

The Witch Queen hears of a prophecy of a demon, a very powerful demon. She decides that she wanted to take the demon to use as her own weapon before the demon could be used against her. So she orders her generals to kill all the demons to smoke out the one of the prophecy. Saerys was already kicked out of his demon village at this point, so he avoided the genocide. Lennox harrassed Saerys and made people hate and shunned him wherever he went, but Reiner never turned him away. Saerys became devoted to Reiner and became a retainer to fight against the Witch Queen. In some routes she can control him, just as she had planned.

So they end up killing the Witch Queen, shattering her crown. The generals retreat back to their castle secretly finding the pieces and putting them back together. There is peace a 3 year peace until the MC is transported to the Love & Legends world. Her connection to the Witch Queen gives the general their chance to bring the Witch Queen back. Which they do.

Broken Crown

The crown is an important key for taking the Witch Queen down. All the way back from the Pride Month 2017 special, it was hinted that the crown itself was very powerful and corrupted. If you are weak and try to wear it it could blast you across the room. It is said by Altea that just wearing the crown could drive the user mad. It is cursed.

Ficar doente ou de ressaca fazia com que Chan já manhoso normalmente ficasse mais ainda. Assemelha-se até mesmo a uma criança, de tanto que ficava, querendo urgentemente um pouco de carinho e mimos, muito provavelmente pela falta deles durante a infância. A festa de deu foi um sucesso na visão dele, porque se não conseguia lembrar de uma parte da noite, tinha certeza que as coisas foram boas, entretanto o dia seguinte era sempre complicado graças a ressaca que vinha junto. Chan já tinha acordado tarde, por volta das 16h, e só teve coragem de sair do quarto porque percebeu que as garrafinhas de água de seu frigobar tinham acabado, e assim foi obrigado a descer para apegar mais uma. O caminho da volta, no entanto, foi interrompido porque @icmt-jinhai estava no sofá da sala, e Chan aproveitou a oportunidade. Literalmente engatinhou no estofado até o colega e deitou no colo dele, sem falar nada, apenas esfregando a cabeça em suas coxas tal qual um gatinho e puxando uma das mãos do chinês para o topo de sua cabeça, "Jinnie... Faz carinhoooo...”

he glances over at the other person, tilting his head to the side in intrigue. jinhai did not expect to be in such a conversation with the other person; however, here he was during a late afternoon talking about such a topic with the other. he holds the cup of coffee in hand, looking down at the table as he listened and processed the words spoken. “do you feel alone then? do you feel as if you reached that age in which you can no longer fathom spending another night in lonesome?” he looks up at the person, his eyes averting upward to then observe the other. as he awaited a response, he sipped on his coffee.

Ryo lets a small grin tug at his lips. Lonely. 

This raven has been lonely for a long time. He only had one sweet taste of what it felt like to be loved, have a family, and those were the best years of his life he can’t get back. Ryo stares in thought for a moment, gazing at the tablet they were at while his right hand comes up elegantly to graze against the center of his chest only to glide over to his right shoulder. Those stars etched into his shoulders burn like it’s the day after he got them shaded in when he thinks of those he lost. 

“I have my moments..but that’s also why I spend most of my time working.” he says as his eyes look back up at Jinhai. While most of his emotions are hidden behind his empty eyes, the grin that stays on his lips seems too real it’s disturbing. “It’s why I do the things I do. I don't have to acknowledge it, I am willing to live with it, because while being alone is annoying, it’s not painful.”

🤖 : hiding something behind back

Today was the day Mimi can’t really say she ever looks forward to it. The day she always takes the later shift at the Flower Mill in order to meet her early appointment at the hospital to meet her therapist. It was part of her deal she made with her foster parents that if she was going to be able to leave home so soon that she would have to keep up with her mental health, find someone that would be able to help her further with her D.I.D. 

So here she was walking into the hospital early to see one of her favorite customers. Jinhai was adorable. Something about the guy really called out to her when they first started talking or at least just greeting each other when they would cross paths. Upon finding the nurse luckily without his hands full, by the time he takes notice of her the goodies she’s brought with her for him here quickly hidden behind her back. 

“Good morning, Jinhai-ssi~!” Mimi gives the younger a smile. “How’s your shift been?”

This time Zhi had to be sure that this wasn’t as bad as it seems, but the dizziness he felt in his head told him this wasn’t your usual hit to the head. The instructor huffs as he sits in the waiting room, blood dripping from his hairline and he feels a couple other aches here and there but with his high pain tolerance, they feel more like sore muscles than anything that could actually be broken. 

Zhi should have known Xiao’s ideas couldn't be completely trusted but for now, he was just happy the journalist got the information he needed. The brunette's attention was turned to the male nurse that calls his name surprised to hear him say his full name with the proper pronunciation. “Oh..you speak Chinese..?” he asks in his native tongue after he’s made his way over to him.

Huang Xiaodan

current sect leader of the Huang Sect; given name is Huang Yahui

he has an adopted daughter (Huang Daiyu) and his step mother helps him run the sect, she mostly aids in teaching disciples and the like

he’s stupid kind, he’s stupid, but only when he’s Taihe (where the sect is located), when he visits sects outside of the direct ones next to him he’s considered “cold-natured” bc he just doesn’t talk to anyone unless prompted. or when he does, depending on who it is, he’s impatient w them and moves fast in conversation

the only exceptions were when he was flirting w jiang cheng or lan xichen

anyways, before a lot of things, he had been secretly with a man named Syun Liqiu-- they mainly kept it secret bc Liqiu was set to marry a woman (and also sect leader Syun, liqius dad, fucking hates the Huang sect)

sadly, the night of Liqius marriage with the woman, he came to the Huang sect and took his life in one of the spiderlily gardens to be discovered by Madam Tao/Xiaodan’s step mother a few hours later

SO, with xiaodan being the Sensitive Man He Is when he’s at home, he kind of just............. Switches Off in a sense. he starts being reserved even to his daughter and they were super close :(

also info on the huang sect before i continue

the huang sect was established quite a while ago, but because of the things its notorious for, it’s still a quite small sect. its not SUPER tiny, but it’s no where near as big as like, the jiang or nie sects

a few generations into the huang sect being established, the sect leader at the time brought a curse onto the sect bc he was like wow, i want some god dick, and he got it! but now sect leaders/people directly related to the leading family have a chance of dying super young, like 20-30yrs old

Xiaodans dad actually lived quite a while compared to other sect leaders (late 40s, was able to have 2 kids) so people kinda thought hey. maybe the curse is wearing off. (nope!)

anyways, on top of that curse, they’re just. not human. in a sense. they KINDA are, but aren’t at the same time.

Xiaodan has the ability to control his generals sword (@ kagekitsuneoflight’s character, Huang Fan Cong) and his little sisters sword (Huang Jiayi), on top of the fact he’s able to control them

he only really does this when he absolutely needs to because he hates the thought of controlling others like that, but when he does go into that mode, his “True eyes” come out and spiderlilies have a habit of growing out of nowhere on him and those he’s controlling

It’s a really big strain on his golden core and in general his body to go all out and make them fight, so again he never does it

the sects closest to Huang are aware of these abilities, but it’s seen as rude to question anyone about them, or their origin. outside of that no one is really knowledgeable about these things

sect leaders typically get these powers through a specific way of cultivation, but they aren’t able to choose who they control-- if they were Xiaodan would NOT have chosen his little sister (bc shes legit. 18 :( )

there’s a lot more but now for Wu Jinhai

Wu Jinhai has a little bit more intent than golddigging

he has no clear background-- he was orphaned as a teenager, was an only child, and he doesn’t know if he has any aunts or uncles, or even grandparents

The most he’s willing to tell is that he started practicing cultivation with his mother pretty young, and continued training throughout various sects-- still does when he meets xiaodan too, and he’s pretty good at using each sects methods

he traveled by himself for the most part until he was 25, and throughout that he’s managed to help several villages, so he’s got a good chunk of money on him-- which he ends up spending in Taihe bc he likes red and their colors are red and gold, and the Huang sect is VERY much into fashion n shit

so he gets decked out in pretty clothes and hairpins, guans, etc., and still has money left over for whatever he needs. he stays at a small house that isn’t in too bad of shape, keeps it furnished, helps whoever needs it-- and then the news of the Syun’s Sects Heir committing suicide in the private spiderlily gardens comes out and he’s ALL ears

bc first of all, asides from coming to get some hanfus specially made for him among other things, he’s been wanting to fuck around and make major trouble.

he doesn’t do it immediately, like he waits a few months to let Xiaodan mourn (he finds out about the relationship through rumors, and gets it confirmed by xiaodans little sister after befriending her), but eventually he does present himself to Xiaodan

he basically proposes after presenting his credibility and xiaodan is like. holy fuck. ok. um. give me a week and i’ll consider it ok. (huang fan cong is NOT fond of him, and neither is Madam Tao, bc they know his attitude from unfortunate run ins)

Madam Tao tries to discourage xiaodan from considering the arrangement bc like. he doesn’t have family so he could be making shit up. his vibes are rancid. etc etc and xiaodan starts like. thinking about what she’s saying. but he says “ultimately it’s my choice” and madam tao is just ‘r u serious gay boy’

anyways jinhai ends up seducing xiaodan at some point, and manages to convince him to marry.

they marry, wjh uses this to his advantage to finding out sect secrets, he sells some of them to neighboring sects for laffs, then suddenly the two sects surrounding taihe are like “we are going to war bc ur sect is fucked up, also we want more land” and hxd is like WHAT

anyways, wjh fakes his death after hxd finds out he sold sect/family secrets and runs off to the Nie sect (with a bunch of fucking cash) to watch the war from afar, changing his name to Nie Bojing

wu jinhai deadass just started a war because he felt like it. wanted to see some drama. about 4 years after the war (which ended in the collapse of the Huang, Syun, and Liu sects), WWX resurrects in Mo Xuanyu’s body

Madam Tao, Huang Daiyu, and some of Huang Fancong’s sisters survive the war as the remaining people of the Huang sect, and they also refuge in the Nie Sect.

idk what happens beyond then, but Huang Daiyu ends up finding Wu Jinhai again at some point

jinhai had no idea how things had come to this point. their bodies were still sticky and hot from their last round of lovemaking, but right now, he felt cold and scared. did she just tell him that she loved him? or was that just words that she had said because he had made her feel good once more? he sat upright in the bed, breathing labored as he looked to her. “i can’t. i don’t love you. we ... we’re just doing this for fun, right?” his eyes were filled with fear as he waited for her to say something. “you and me. we’re just good in bed together. there’s nothing beyond that.”

She thrived in her house, being challenged constantly was refreshing and living up to so many notable witches and wizards who had been in the house previously was something she kept to drive her in her studies. Courteous, sweet, somewhat shy she was oblivious as she got older at how much people began to admire her- and not admire her in a way of her studious personality or talents, but physically and didn’t know the effect she had on some of the students. She never considered herself beautiful, or hot, conventionally pretty to a certain degree but nothing special. But when the Yule Ball occurred in her fifth year, Cedric Diggory, who was considered one of the school’s most eligible bachelors alongside being a good study friend asked her to the ball. She felt like great big neon sign had been placed above her. And then Harry Potter of all people asked her and it sent her into a frenzy of self doubt and expectation she wasn’t entirely ready for. But then Cedric asked to date her and she said yes and he was the most charming, sweetest man she could imagine. It didn’t matter to her that he was a Hogwart’s Champion, she just liked being looked after and loved. 

That of course came crumbling down, eight months of dating ended in one curse and a fall of a body. The death of Cedric affected her badly, she became emotional, unstable, every little thing reminded her of him and her first love was gone and she had to continue on. Her school work suffered, her grades beginning to plummet and her sixth year came around and she had this insane panic of an entire year before taking NEWTS and she was so behind. She tried to be brave in front of people in her sixth year, but it became impossible to keep up with how much Cedric’s death was still a topic of discussion. And the threat of Voldemort being back weighed over her. She believed Harry, of course she did, he didn’t seem like the type to lie about such a thing. So when the DA was started and the tyrannical reign of Umbridge began she jumped at the chance to learn more from him and to make a step in making herself better. If she could protect herself, build her confidence, just maybe she could get through this. She even opened up to the idea of dating Harry, who seemed to still be interested in her. But she wasn’t ready, everything was still too raw and she found the friendship she had created with him falling apart as their attempt of dating also did. And then Marietta, one of her closest best friends caved under the pressure and Cho found herself standing up for her friend but poisoning the others against her instead. As if she were also the one to grass everyone up. The cursed parchment was a nasty trick, something Cho wouldn’t forgive purely for the humiliation and pain Marietta had to put up with. It was easy for people to be righteous when they didn’t know all the facts, that Marietta had been forced, pressured, the threat of her mum getting in trouble and lengths Umbridge went to in her office to get people to confess or spill their secrets.

Cho went back for the 7th year, alongside Marietta, Mandy, Terry, Michael etc. But it was the final year she had thought it would be. The Ministry was taken over, the school alongside it. The school year was brutal, half their friends and school mates were gone, the unknowing of their fates kept them all on their toes and their heads down just trying to survive. Being able to live simply because their blood was different to others. It was barbaric and traumatic and Cho had managed about three months of it until she had taken some of her house and went to go hide in the Room of Requirement. When Luna was snatched just after Christmas she alongside others felt helpless. Even in the holidays people weren’t safe. Those who hid there over the months, with more and more joining as the days and weeks passed meant everyone got used to living in such close quarters. It was like a haven inside a prison and Cho had taken it upon herself to learn alongside some others more healing spells and general medical aid to help those who came to seek refuge. The year passed and soon became May and alongside it, the eventual battle. The elation she had felt seeing Harry, Ron, Dean and Luna, hell even for a fraction of a second, Hermione turned up from the secret passageway it felt like salvation had finally come. 

The battle had been long, tiring and full of despair. She had been alongside Marietta and Michael when both were struck, Michael went down with an Avada and Marietta was hit with a curse which sent a gash from navel to throat alongside her body. Whatever they had learnt in the DA felt hopeless, Cho had battled her best, tears streaming and coated in her best friends blood. Marietta didn’t have to stay and fight, she wouldn’t have blamed her, but the guilt she still felt at what had happened two years before made her resolute to stay and help. Because of her selflessness Marietta died and Cho witnessed numerous friends fall. When the battle was finally over, when Voldemort was dead and those who still lived gathered together Cho had sat in the hall alongside what remained of her house and thought about each and every person she had loved which had been slain. 

She couldn’t find a way to cope, she was exhausted from feeling anything and within weeks she had dropped off the face of the earth. No one knew where she’d gone, no one knew how she was, only she knew she couldn’t go home and she couldn’t find a way to move past it. So she had packed a bag, grabbed her passport and funds and left to go find herself. She had to process and grieve in the own way and she couldn’t wait to experience the aftermath. She found herself travelling around the world, never staying in one country more than a few months. The more she moved, the more she healed, and the more she experienced the more she began to change. And it was good, she immersed herself in culture and tradition and learnt about others. Already trilingual, her travels turned her into a polyglot. With Chinese, Indonesian, Spanish, Hindi, Turkish, Sinhalese and Polish under her belt Cho found it easy to start coming into her own. Languages became a passion and the amount of work which opened up for her due to her extensive and ever growing array of languages started her in a career of event planning. Working alongside gaining life experiences, Cho has gone snorkelling, deep sea diving, paragliding, bungee jumping, camel riding, learned jujitsu, experienced festivals and carnivals and it was in Brazil, almost three years since the war she spotted the first person she had left behind. Purely by chance, at least she wanted it to be, she found herself face to face with Dean Thomas and his family. She stayed a month, both of them reconnecting and Cho found herself opening up about her disappearance and what she had been doing- at least three of those weeks were spent fucking around and fucking. They had bonded over the war, connected in a way she didn’t feel she could connect with anyone back in the UK. It wasn’t feelings based, her travels so far had gotten her many dalliances under her belt- men, women, it didn't matter, she wanted it all. She was living her best life and the weeks spent with Dean were a brief thing to remind her of what once was home. 

When he asked her to come back, not with him or with promise of anything more between them, simply because she belonged there she had packed that very night and moved on, leaving him a postcard with a simple ‘I’m sorry, I can’t’. For the remainder of her time travelling, she took on more and more experiences and soon the emotional, dramatic little girl she had left back on the small island was gone and instead there was a personality of her own. She was strong, cultured, open and very into living in the moment and she picked up numerous techniques from her travels to help with keeping her on her track. So when she had finally gotten an email from her mother, saying her father was sick and they weren’t sure how long he had she found herself back in the rainy highlands of Scotland and back to a place she had long left behind. It turned out to be a temporary thing, her father bounced back during the weeks she was home and surprisingly, Cho found herself wanting to stay longer. So she did. She kept to Scotland for a few more months, working with clubs and promoting events and finally decided that the woman she had become was enough to maybe start again. So she found herself travelling into England and living in London. It was during a very early morning stroll through Diagon, intent on avoiding anyone familiar she discovered a location long since boarded up and the idea struck her on what she wanted to do. 

With news of the trials and other things concerning the minds of its inhabitants, no one really paid attention to the slow renovation of the building nor what was going on inside. When she was ready she would announce it, there would be no hiding but if she was going to be here, she was going to do something she loved. And what was best than parties, events and clubbing. She hasn’t announced her return to anyone, but that’s soon to change and would anyone recognise the tornado which had landed on their doorstep?  CONNECTIONS:

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG Jinhai 😭😭😭😭 he's the wayv baby for a year then Sicheng has his oldest daughter and then both Jinhai and Chunhua are the spoiled babies in their own ways and it's the sweetest thing!!! I can picture Jinhai with his little bear ears pouting cause he doesn't know where this little snowhare with giant ears came from and why she's in his Uncle Sicheng's arms and he's not 😭 (but then of course he warms up to her and finds it so fun to play with her when she's old enough)
