some headcanons/thoughts of mine about apex legends

I’ve noticed a lot of people haven’t brought these points up or just have differing headcanons so I wanted to share! of course ymmv!

-I don’t think anyone in the apex games is a particularly stellar person. idk if respawn beacons are canon in the lore, but either way, a bunch of hooligans who join a death tournament, regardless of their goal, have to some degree be comfortable with ending a person’s life or at least causing them great harm. our current cast basically lies on a spectrum from morally grey to chaotic evil, probably with lifeline & gibraltar closer to the former and bloodhound & caustic closer to the latter

-yes, I would rank bloodhound towards the latter, as they canonically enjoy slaughter and bloodshed; they and caustic aren’t all that different imo except in tact and temperament (disclaimer I love them both I’m just unclear on why tumblr loves one and hates the other). also they’re both pretty obsessed with death let’s be honest

-I think lifeline is suffering more than she lets on. just from her bio it’s clear she’s disappointed with her family and wants to make up for the damage. I’d have to guess the canon world of titanfall is dystopic enough that there are few ways for lifeline to finance her work other than through apex tournaments, which obviously don’t really fit her MO. i’d imagine she tries to not think about it, but every now and then between games or during a particularly bloody fight she wonders how the fuck she got here and what she’s even doing or if it’s even the right thing

-i’m... not super clear why gibraltar is here, he seems like a great, friendly guy and judging from his background one would think he’d steer clear of hurting other people. I think that’s part of the reason he’s the least popular character rn, it just ... doesn’t make sense for him to be here. dark respawn gimme the gibraltar lore. WHO HURT HIM

-I think bloodhound has a lot less tolerance for bullshit than people think. it would take waaay more patience than normal for them to get used to chatty, energetic people like mirage and pathfinder. judging from info we’ve been given, they obviously value their privacy and their space, and seem content with solitude, though ofc willing to compromise these things to some extent to work with a team in the games. still, I don’t see them taking kindly to people getting to close to them or asking too many questions

-i love poking fun at our favorite garbageboy stinkman but I actually imagine caustic is a really clean, particular person; he works with fatal compounds, there has to be decontamination protocol for that kind of thing. I also just headcanon he’s OCD because I feel like it fits (I might just be projecting though). in person he probably just smells like that uncomfortable sterile hospital ammonia smell that stings yr nose and makes you feel uneasy. he would be real fucking terrifying IRL

-Mirage puts on a front but I think he’s actually incredibly insecure - I think out of all the legends, his flaws are the most surface-level. he thinks he’s hot shit but as with all narcissists, that self-image is SO fragile. everything he does, he does because it makes him likable, and if he fails in doing that, he ignores the feelings and problems originating from his mistakes until something gives. he is most definitely a disaster bi. probably codependent too judging from the fact he canonically attracts problem-people and manipulators. someone get him a therapist
