'what was that? i couldn't hear you over all the drowning.'
"I said MOVE!" Susanoo articulated his demand again, the resonance in his voice went deeper, but it remained relatively far from real anger. The way his hands rested on his hips and his dark orbs stared at the demigod, who seemed to have the time of his life chilling in the seawater not far from the shore, indicated a mild annoyance and a pinch of concern.
"Stop messing up the water temperature! Some fish are getting overheated down there!!" He belted out, making sure all his words reached the demigod in the distance. "And do not drown! My sea doesn't need a fucking human-size heater!!"

ㅤㅤshe'd got the waistband just past her belly button when he stopped her, the venom in her eyes compensating for her inability to swat at him. even the handsomest of men could be assholes, too. as if the fact that he'd tied her up hadn't been proof of that enough. " the next stop, " she echoed, annoyance in her voice as her feet dragged through the sand — fingers awkwardly trying to hold the bottom of the flask as she drank with desperation.
ㅤㅤ" mmph, " she pulled away to gasp for breath, rosy petals regaining life from the much needed moisture as she found her footing against the makeshift path. " you have to feed me, or else i might do something reckless again. " she threatened, but the mention of food had her stomach rumbling now that she was painfully aware of how empty it was. she watched her steps, avoiding the sticks and stones that were dimly lit by the glow of the moon as shoulders rolled at his question. " probably because i keep killing his friends. " she hardly blamed herself, though; he should know better as senator than to mix with the wrong crowd. " and just men in general. but only the bad ones. are you a bad man? "
for a moment, ryan watched as she failed to pull her skirt down. “you might be able to wash at the next stop.” he spoke as he tugged her skirt back up. “now walk.” he said and pointed up the trail. with his gun now tucked back into his pocket, he tugged her along after making her the rope around her wrists were good. the hunter took hold of the water canteen and held it to her lips. “i’ll allow you a drink if you want it.” he spoke, tilting the container of cold water towards her lips. “depending on how you act when we get to camp. i may not or may even feed you.” he chuckled and started the walk along the trail. of course it was a rough patch and who knew what creatures roamed at night. “tell me? why does you dad want you found so bad?” he asked as he walked, staying a couple steps behind her to ensure she couldn’t slip away.

Seungcheol burst through your front door, not even bothering to knock, looking slightly frazzled and out of breath. You were sitting on the living room floor with Areum, helping her color in a princess-themed coloring book, when he made his dramatic entrance.
"What's going on?" you asked, raising an eyebrow as Areum looked up, wide-eyed at her dad's sudden arrival.
"Daddy!" Areum exclaimed, abandoning her crayons and running over to hug him. He scooped her up with a brief smile but quickly turned his attention to you.
"I need your help," he said, his voice low and urgent.
You blinked, confused by his tone. "Help with what? Are you in trouble?"
"Yes," he replied immediately, setting Areum back down and stepping closer to you. "Big trouble. The boys are trying to set me up on a blind date, and I need an alibi."
"So, let me get this straight. Your *big trouble* is a blind date?" you stared at him for a moment, your lips twitching as you try not to laugh
"It's not funny," he protested, running a hand through his hair "Jeonghan and Joshua have been hounding me about it for weeks, and now they've gone and actually arranged something. They told the girl I was available. *Available!* Can you believe that?"
"Well..." you started, unable to keep the teasing tone out of your voice. "You *are* technically available, Seungcheol. You're single, remember?"
He narrowed his eyes at you, clearly unamused. "That's not the point. I don't want to go."
"Then just say no?" you suggested, shrugging
"They won’t take no for an answer! They’ll guilt-trip me into going somehow. You know how they are." He sighed, flopping onto your couch like a man defeated. "That's why I need you to help me. Pretend I’m busy. Say we’ve got plans. Something—anything—to get me out of this."
"And why would I do that?" confused, you ask him
"Because..." He paused, looking genuinely desperate now. "You’re my only hope."
Before you could respond, Areum piped up, her little voice curious. "Daddy, what's a 'blind date'?"
Seungcheol winced, glancing at you for help. You smirked, not about to let him off the hook that easily. "Oh, it's when someone goes out with a stranger to see if they like each other," you explained casually. "Your dad's friends think he needs a girlfriend."
Areum's eyes went wide. "A girlfriend? But Daddy doesn't need a girlfriend. He has Mommy!"
Both you and Seungcheol froze at her innocent declaration, and then your cheeks flushed. You quickly looked away, focusing on the coloring book in front of you.
Seungcheol, on the other hand, seemed to perk up at Areum’s words.
"See?" he said, pointing at her as if she'd just made his case. "Even Areum agrees. I don’t need a girlfriend." as if his five year old's daughter is the only thing making sense right now.
You rolled your eyes, fighting a smile.
"Fine," you relented. "What exactly do you want me to say to get you out of this?"
"Anything!" he said quickly, leaning forward. "Just tell them we’re doing something together this weekend. A family thing. They'll back off if they think I'm spending time with you and Areum."
"You're so dramatic," you muttered, shaking your head. "But okay, I'll help you. This time."
"Thank you. You’re a lifesaver." he grinned, looking ridiculously pleased with himself.
"Yeah, yeah," you said, waving him off. "But you owe me for this."
"Deal," he said without hesitation, standing up and pulling Areum into his arms. "You hear that, princess? Daddy’s off the hook, thanks to Mommy."
Areum giggled, wrapping her arms around his neck. "You're silly, Daddy."
Seungcheol laughed, pressing a kiss to her cheek. "Yeah, I am. But don’t tell uncle Jeonghan and uncle Joshua that, okay? It’s our little secret."
As he left your apartment, looking far more relaxed than when he’d arrived, you couldn’t help but shake your head at the whole situation. Seungcheol, despite all his bravado, could be such a dork sometimes.
Still, there was a small, unexpected warmth in your chest as you watched him leave. Even after everything, he always seemed to find his way back to you. No matter what excuse he needed to make it happen.
Later that evening, Seungcheol was sitting at home, blissfully unaware that his “alibi” plan was about to backfire. He had just finished putting Areum to bed when his phone buzzed on the coffee table. Picking it up, he saw Jeonghan’s name on the screen.
He answered with a suspicious, “Hello?”
“You sneaky little liar,” Jeonghan’s voice greeted him, half-amused and half-accusing. “You could’ve just said no, you know.”
Seungcheol’s stomach dropped. “What are you talking about?”
“*What am I talking about?* Oh, just the fact that we got a call from *her.*” Jeonghan’s emphasis on the word *her* was enough to make Seungcheol’s heart skip a beat.
“Her?” Seungcheol played dumb, even though he knew exactly who Jeonghan meant.
“Your lovely *ex-wife,*” Jeonghan said, clearly enjoying this. “She called to tell us you’re busy this weekend because you’re spending time with her and Areum. Ring any bells?”
Seungcheol groaned, rubbing his face. “She wasn’t supposed to actually call you! She was just supposed to tell me to tell you—”
“Well, she called anyway,” Jeonghan interrupted, snickering. “And let me just say, it was a very enlightening conversation. Joshua and I were on speakerphone with her, by the way.”
“Oh, great,” Seungcheol muttered, already dreading what was coming next
“She sounded so sweet, too,” Joshua chimed in, suddenly joining the call. “Told us you’d be having a family day. Said you were a great dad and how nice it was that you prioritized Areum.”
“I am a great dad,” Seungcheol defended, even though he knew where this was going
“And then,” Jeonghan continued, his voice dripping with mischief, “she thanked us for ‘understanding.’ Understanding *what,* Seungcheol? That you’re still hopelessly hung up on her?”
“I’m not hung up on her!” Seungcheol snapped, though his face was burning
“Oh, please,” Jeonghan said, laughing now. “You *ran* to her to avoid going on a blind date. If that doesn’t scream ‘still in love with my ex,’ I don’t know what does.”
“It’s not like that,” Seungcheol argued, even though he could hear how weak his own defense sounded
“Then what’s it like?” Joshua asked innocently, though his tone suggested he already knew the answer
Seungcheol sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Look, I didn’t want to go on the date, and it was the only way I could think of okay? That’s all it was.”
“Sure,” Jeonghan said, drawing the word out. “And the fact that you still wear your wedding ring sometimes doesn’t mean anything either, right?”
“I don’t—” Seungcheol started to protest, but Joshua cut him off.
“And the fact that you’re always making excuses to hang out with her and Areum? Totally not suspicious.”
“Or how about how you still call her whenever something important happens?” Jeonghan added. “Like that time you got promoted, and the *first* person you told wasn’t us, but *her.*”
“Okay, enough!” Seungcheol snapped, though he couldn’t deny any of it. He slumped back on the couch, glaring at the ceiling. “You two are insufferable.”
“Maybe,” Jeonghan said, clearly enjoying this. “But we’re not wrong, are we?”
There was a long pause, and for once, Seungcheol didn’t have a quick comeback. Instead, he muttered, “I’m hanging up now,” and ended the call before they could say anything else.
As he set his phone down, Seungcheol sighed heavily. He hated how well Jeonghan and Joshua knew him. Hated how they could see right through him, even when he tried to deny it.
But most of all, he hated that they were right. Because no matter how much he tried to pretend otherwise, he wasn’t over you.
Not even close.
The next weekend, Seungcheol found himself being herded into a bar by Jeonghan, Joshua, and a few other friends. He hadn’t wanted to come, he’d rather be home with Areum or even by himself but Jeonghan had been persistent, and Seungcheol didn’t have the energy to argue.
“Come on, Cheol,” Jeonghan said, throwing an arm around his shoulders as they walked inside. “You’ve been way too uptight lately. A night out is exactly what you need.”
Seungcheol grunted in response, scanning the bar. It was packed with people, the music loud enough to make casual conversation impossible. He could already feel the headache forming.
“I’ll get us a table,” Joshua said, disappearing into the crowd
As they settled into a corner booth, Jeonghan smirked and gestured toward a group of women near the bar. “What about them? Think any of them would catch your eye, Cheol?”
Seungcheol shot him a glare. “Not interested.”
“Oh, come on,” Jeonghan teased. “You can’t stay hung up on—”
“I said I’m not interested,” Seungcheol interrupted, his tone sharper than he intended
Jeonghan raised his hands in mock surrender. “Alright, alright. No need to bite my head off.”
But Jeonghan being Jeonghan, he didn’t let it drop. When the women eventually came over, clearly encouraged by Jeonghan and Joshua, Seungcheol’s discomfort was palpable
“Hi,” one of the women said, flashing him a bright smile. “I’m Hyejin. And you are?”
“Not interested,” Seungcheol muttered, taking a sip of his drink without meeting her gaze.
Her smile faltered, but she didn’t give up. “Oh, come on. You’re way too handsome to be sitting here brooding all night.”
Joshua tried to suppress a laugh while Jeonghan nudged him under the table, grinning like the devil himself.
“I’m fine, thanks,” Seungcheol said, still avoiding eye contact.
“Don’t mind him,” Jeonghan said, ever the instigator. “He’s just shy.”
Seungcheol glared at Jeonghan. “I’m not shy.”
“Then talk to her,” Jeonghan challenged, a mischievous glint in his eye
“I don’t want to,” Seungcheol snapped, standing up abruptly. “I’m getting some air.”
As he walked away, Jeonghan burst into laughter. “I swear, he’s worse than a teenager with a crush.”
Outside, Seungcheol leaned against the cool brick wall, letting out a heavy sigh. He didn’t know why he’d let the guys drag him out in the first place. This wasn’t his scene anymore.
He pulled out his phone and instinctively opened your messages. There was a picture you’d sent earlier that day of Areum holding up a crayon drawing of the two of you with her in the middle. She’d written “My Famly” in bright, messy letters at the top.
He smiled to himself, his thumb hovering over the call button.
Before he could make a decision, the door to the bar opened, and Joshua stepped outside, a knowing look on his face. “Thought I’d find you out here.”
“Not in the mood,” Seungcheol muttered, putting his phone away.
Joshua leaned against the wall next to him, crossing his arms. “You know, Jeonghan’s just messing with you. He knows you’re still into her.”
“I’m not—”
“Cheol.” Joshua cut him off with a pointed look. “We’ve known you for years. Don’t even try to deny it.”
Seungcheol sighed, running a hand through his hair. “It doesn’t matter. We’re divorced. She’s moved on.”
“Has she?” Joshua asked, raising an eyebrow
That made Seungcheol pause. “What do you mean?”
“She’s not exactly going on dates, is she?” Joshua pointed out. “And last I checked, she’s still wearing your ring.”
Seungcheol frowned, his chest tightening at the thought. He’d noticed it, of course. How could he not? But he hadn’t dared to hope it meant anything.
“Look, man,” Joshua said, clapping him on the shoulder. “If you still love her and I know you do you’ve got to stop acting like it’s too late. Because if you keep sitting on the sidelines, someone else *will* come along eventually. And you won’t have anyone to blame but yourself.”
With that, Joshua turned and went back inside, leaving Seungcheol alone with his thoughts.
And for the first time in a long while, those thoughts were filled with hope.
Seungcheol sighed and adjusted his jacket as he made his way back inside. Maybe if he stayed near the bar’s edge, the persistent group would lose interest. But as soon as he returned to the booth, Hyejin, the overly determined woman, lit up like he was her jackpot.
“There you are,” she said, patting the empty seat beside her. “I thought you might’ve run off.”
Seungcheol stayed standing, crossing his arms. “Just needed air.”
“Well, now that you’re back, let’s make this night a little more fun, huh?” She reached for his arm, but he took a step back
“I’m good,” he said flatly
But Hyejin clearly wasn’t one to give up easily.
“Oh, come on. One drink. What’s the harm?”
Jeonghan and Joshua, meanwhile, were watching the scene unfold like it was the best drama of the year. Joshua even had the audacity to take a sip of his beer and mutter, “This is going to be good.”
Seungcheol shot them both a glare before turning back to Hyejin. He’d had enough of the games.
“Look,” he said, his voice calm but firm. “I’m flattered, really. But I’m not interested. I have someone else.”
Her smile faltered. “Oh? You’re married?”
He didn’t hesitate reaching for the gold chain tucked under his shirt, there hangs his wedding ring. The date and your initials engraved on the inside. He let it dangle in the dim light, the small circle gleaming like a quiet promise.
“Divorced,” he clarified, “but that doesn’t mean I’m available.”
Hyejin blinked, clearly not expecting that response. “You’re divorced, but you’re still...?”
“I’m still in love with my ex-wife,” Seungcheol said plainly, his voice steady. “And we have a daughter together. Her name is Areum. She’s five, loves soccer, and thinks I can fix anything—even when I can’t.”
Jeonghan and Joshua exchanged wide-eyed glances, the playful smirks slipping from their faces.
“Whoa,” Jeonghan muttered under his breath. “He went there.”
Seungcheol ignored them, keeping his focus on Hyejin. “So, no offense, but I’m not looking for anything. My family is my priority. Always.”
There was a moment of stunned silence before Hyejin finally nodded, clearly caught off guard. “I see. Well... good for you, I guess. It’s rare to meet someone so dedicated.”
With that, she stood up, mumbling something about grabbing another drink, and walked away.
The second she was out of earshot, Jeonghan burst into laughter. “Oh, my God. Cheol, that was...”
“I’ve never seen someone so politely crush someone’s hopes like that.” Joshua shook his head, though he was smiling
“I’m not joking,” Seungcheol said, slipping the ring and chain back under his shirt
Jeonghan grinned, leaning across the table. “We know you’re not. That’s what makes it so entertaining. You’re still head over heels for her, aren’t you?”
Seungcheol sighed, sinking into the booth. “Can we not do this right now?”
“Nope,” Jeonghan said, popping the “p.” “This is exactly the time to do it. Because you just told a complete stranger that you’re still in love with your ex-wife. Out loud. In public.”
“And in front of witnesses,” Joshua added, smirking
Seungcheol groaned, covering his face with his hands. “Why do I even hang out with you two?”
“Because we’re the only ones who can call you out on your nonsense,” Jeonghan said, patting him on the back. “And honestly, Cheol, it’s about time you stopped hiding it.”
“Stopped hiding what?” Seungcheol muttered.
“That you want her back,” Joshua said simply.
Seungcheol didn’t respond, his thoughts too tangled with the truth of their words. He didn’t need to admit it—they already knew.
And deep down, so did he.
The hum of the car engine fills the silence between you and Seungcheol. The road stretches endlessly, flanked by towering trees that seem to lean in, listening to the quiet tension between you. In the backseat, Areum is a bundle of energy, her stuffed rabbit tucked securely under one arm as she hums a made-up tune. Her legs swing back and forth, her excitement barely contained.
“Are we there yet?” she chirps for the third time in an hour
“Almost, sweetheart,” Seungcheol answers, glancing at her through the rearview mirror.
You glance at him from the passenger seat, noting how his hands grip the steering wheel, veins faintly visible under his tan skin. He looks good—too good. His hair, slightly longer than when you last saw him, falls over his forehead, and his jawline is as sharp as ever.
You force yourself to look away, instead focusing on the scenery outside, even though it does little to distract you from the weight of his presence.
“You excited, Areum?” you ask
“I’m soooo excited!” she exclaims, throwing her hands into the air. “Mommy, Daddy, we’re going to have so much fun! Just like old times!”
Your heart clenches at her words. You glance at Seungcheol again, catching the way his lips press into a thin line. He doesn’t say anything, but the moment hangs heavily between you.
The cabin is perfect. Nestled by a serene lake, it’s surrounded by tall pines that sway gently in the breeze. The wooden exterior glows warmly in the afternoon sunlight, and Areum bounces with excitement as soon as you step out of the car.
“Look, Mommy! A swing!” she squeals, racing toward the porch where a rustic wooden swing creaks invitingly.
Seungcheol opens the trunk and starts unloading the bags. You hesitate for a moment before grabbing Areum’s smaller suitcase and following him inside.
Areum darts around, exploring every nook and cranny, while you and Seungcheol silently divvy up tasks. You find yourself in the kitchen, unpacking snacks and prepping a quick lunch.
The clatter of utensils is the only sound until Seungcheol walks in, his sleeves rolled up, revealing forearms that shouldn’t still affect you the way they do.
“Need help?” he asks
“I’ve got it,” you reply curtly, not looking up
He doesn’t leave. Instead, he leans against the counter, watching you as you slice fruit. The tension is suffocating, and you’re about to tell him to either help or leave when Areum bursts in
“Daddy! Come help me unpack my toys!” she demands, grabbing his hand and tugging him toward the door
He follows her willingly, but not before casting one last look your way A look that lingers too long and says too much.
After dinner, Areum insists on roasting marshmallows by the firepit outside. The three of you gather under the clear night sky, the flames crackling and sending up occasional sparks. Areum’s laughter fills the air as she holds her marshmallow too close to the fire, causing it to catch alight.
“Help, Daddy!” she shrieks, holding the stick out.
Seungcheol chuckles, taking it from her and expertly blowing out the flames. “There. Perfectly charred,” he declares, handing it back to her.
You watch as he wipes a smudge of chocolate from her cheek, his expression soft and full of love. The sight twists something inside you, and you have to look away.
When your eyes meet his across the fire, his gaze is steady, searching, as if he’s trying to read your mind.
Areum’s birthday breakfast is a chaotic mix of pancakes, whipped cream, and sprinkles. She insists on wearing her birthday crown all day, and Seungcheol dutifully bows every time she walks by, calling her “Princess Areum.”
When it’s time for cake, she claps her hands excitedly as you light the candles. “Okay, sweetie, make a wish,” you say, kneeling beside her.
She closes her eyes, her expression scrunching up in concentration. Then, with a triumphant shout, she declares, “I wish for a sibling!”
Your breath catches, and you glance at Seungcheol, who looks just as stunned. Areum blows out the candles in one go, her face lighting up with joy. “Now it has to come true!” she exclaims, completely oblivious to the tension between you and her father.
The morning sun glitters on the lake’s surface, and Areum races ahead, her bright pink swimsuit standing out against the greens and blues of nature. She shrieks with delight as her toes touch the cold water, kicking up little splashes.
“Come on, Mommy! Daddy!” she calls, waving her arms.
You hesitate at the shoreline, adjusting your cover-up nervously. Seungcheol, on the other hand, wades in without hesitation, his muscular frame cutting through the water as he lifts Areum into his arms. She giggles as he spins her around, droplets flying everywhere.
“Scared of a little water?” he teases, glancing back at you with a smirk.
You roll your eyes but step in, letting the icy water creep up your legs. Areum swims over to you, her small hands grasping yours.
“Let’s play! All of us!” she exclaims.
She drags you toward Seungcheol, who’s treading water a few feet away. The three of you end up playing a makeshift game of tag, and for a moment, it feels almost normal almost like the three of you are a family again.
Later, when Areum insists on building sandcastles by the shore, you sit side by side with Seungcheol, the silence between you no longer quite as heavy.
“She really loves this,” he says, watching Areum with a fond smile.
“She’s been looking forward to it for weeks,” you admit, fiddling with a piece of grass. “She wanted it to be perfect.”
He glances at you. “I think it is.”
After Areum falls asleep, the cabin feels too quiet. You find yourself on the porch, staring out at the dark lake. The sound of footsteps behind you makes you tense, but you don’t turn around. You know it’s him.
“She really surprised us today,” Seungcheol says, leaning against the railing beside you
“That’s Areum,” you reply softly, wrapping your arms around yourself. “Always full of surprises.”
There’s a pause before he speaks again. “She’s a lot like you.”
You glance at him, caught off guard. His gaze is steady, filled with something you can’t quite name. “You don’t have to say that,” you mumble
“I mean it,” he says, his voice low. “You’re both stubborn, and you never give up on what you want.”
The words hang between you, and before you can think, he takes a step closer. “I know I messed up,” he says, his tone almost pleading. “But being here… it reminds me of what we had. What we could still have.”
“Cheol…” you start, but he silences you with a gentle touch on your arm.
“I’m not asking for everything right now,” he says, his voice barely above a whisper. “But tell me… do you feel it too? Even a little?”
You don’t answer with words. Instead, you close the distance between you, your lips meeting his in a kiss that feels like both a question and an answer. It’s slow, deliberate, and filled with the weight of everything left unsaid.
For the first time in years, you let yourself hope.
The kiss deepens, but it isn’t hurried. It feels more like rediscovering something familiar yet distant. Seungcheol’s hand finds the curve of your waist, grounding you, while the other gently brushes your cheek.
For a fleeting moment, the years of heartbreak, resentment, and missed chances seem to melt away, leaving just the two of you under the starlit sky.
When you finally pull back, his forehead rests against yours, and his breath fans across your face. Neither of you says a word, and for once, the silence feels comfortable, even necessary.
“I… I should go to bed,” you whisper, your voice trembling slightly. It isn’t a rejection, but a plea for space, a moment to process what just happened.
Seungcheol nods, his hand lingering on your arm before he lets you go. “Goodnight,” he murmurs, his voice laced with something you can’t quite place—hope, maybe.
You retreat to your room, your heart pounding in your chest. You glance at the bed, where Areum sleeps peacefully, her little hand clutching her stuffed rabbit. Her soft breaths are a reminder of everything that matters, of why you came here in the first place.
Still, when you lie down, the memory of Seungcheol’s touch lingers, refusing to let you rest.
The next morning, it's smell of freshly brewed coffee wakes you. Padding into the kitchen, you find Seungcheol already at work, flipping pancakes while Areum sits on the counter, wearing one of his oversized shirts over her pajamas. She’s animatedly telling him a story about her dreams, waving her arms for emphasis.
“And then the dragon said, ‘Areum, you’re the bravest princess ever!’” she declares, her eyes wide. “Right, Daddy?”
“Of course,” he says with a grin, ruffling her hair. “If there’s anyone who can take down a dragon, it’s you.”
You linger in the doorway, unnoticed for a moment, watching the easy way they interact. Areum looks at him like he hung the moon, and Seungcheol, for all his faults, looks at her like she’s his whole world.
“Mommy!” Areum spots you first, her face lighting up. “Daddy’s teaching me how to flip pancakes! Look!” She holds up a spatula triumphantly
“Is he now?” you ask, raising an eyebrow as you step closer. “Just don’t let him burn them.”
“Hey, I’m a pro. You remember.”
You roll your eyes but can’t help the small smile tugging at your lips. It’s moments like this that make it hard to hold on to the walls you’ve built.
As the three of you sit down to breakfast, Areum chatters on about all the things she wants to do before you leave the cabin. Her energy is infectious, and for the first time in a long while, you let yourself relax.
After lunch, Areum insists on having a tea party outside by the lake. She drags Seungcheol along, handing him a tiny pink teacup and a plastic tiara. You try not to laugh as he dutifully places it on his head, his expression serious as Areum pours invisible tea into his cup.
“Daddy, you have to hold your pinky up!” Areum scolds, demonstrating the proper way to hold a teacup.
“Like this?” he asks, holding up his pinky with exaggerated effort.
Areum giggles. “No, Daddy, you’re doing it wrong!”
“Why don’t you join us, Mommy?” Areum calls, waving you over
“Oh, no,” you say, shaking your head. “You and Daddy seem to have it under control.”
“She’s scared of your tea,” Seungcheol teases, winking at you. “Probably thinks it’s too strong.”
You roll your eyes, but your smile betrays you. “I’ll pass, thanks.”
It's the last night at the cabin before going back to normal. After putting Areum to bed, you find Seungcheol on the porch again, leaning against the railing. The moon casts a soft glow on the lake, and the air is cool but pleasant.
“Can’t sleep?” he asks without turning around.
You step out, closing the door quietly behind you. “Something like that.”
He gestures for you to join him, and after a moment’s hesitation, you do. The two of you stand in silence, the sounds of crickets and the gentle lapping of the lake filling the void.
“She’s amazing, you know,” he says finally, his voice low. “Areum. She’s everything good about us.”
You swallow hard, nodding. “She is.”
He turns to look at you then, his gaze soft but intense. “I meant what I said last night,” he murmurs. “I don’t want to lose this again. I don’t want to lose you.”
Your breath catches, but before you can respond, he reaches for your hand. His fingers are warm, steady, as they curl around yours.
“I know it will be hard,” he continues, his voice rough with emotion. “But if there’s even a part of you that still believes in us, I’ll do whatever it takes to prove I’ve changed.”
Tears prick at your eyes, and you look down, unsure of how to respond.
“Cheol…” you start, your voice trembling. “This isn’t just about us anymore. It’s about Areum.”
“I know,” he says, his grip on your hand tightening slightly. “And that’s why I want to do this right. For her. For you.”
For a long moment, you say nothing, your gaze fixed on the horizon. But when you finally look up, you see the sincerity in his eyes, and the walls you’ve built around your heart begin to crumble.
“Okay,” you whisper. “But this time… we take it slow.”
A smile spreads across his face, and for the first time in years, it feels like the start of something new.
The porch is quiet, save for the soft chirping of crickets and the gentle rustle of leaves in the breeze. Seungcheol’s hand lingers in yours, his thumb brushing over your knuckles in slow, deliberate movements. The air between you feels charged, heavy with unspoken words and emotions that neither of you can ignore anymore.
“Slow,” he repeats, his voice soft but resolute. “I can do slow.”
But the way he’s looking at you now. His gaze warm and searching, dipping from your eyes to your lips makes you doubt his resolve. Your pulse quickens as he steps closer, his presence overwhelming in a way that feels both familiar and new.
“Cheol…” you murmur, unsure whether it’s meant to be a warning or encouragement
“Tell me to stop,” he says, his voice barely above a whisper. His free hand rises, fingers brushing a strand of hair from your face, lingering at your temple. “Tell me, and I will.”
You should say it. You should remind him that Areum is just inside, that this isn’t the time, that you’re still trying to figure things out. But instead, you find yourself leaning into his touch, the warmth of his hand against your skin unraveling the last of your defenses.
He takes your silence as permission and leans down slowly, his lips brushing against yours with an achingly soft tenderness. The kiss is tentative at first, as if he’s afraid you’ll pull away, but when you don’t, it deepens. His hand moves to the small of your back, pulling you closer until your bodies are flush against each other.
The sensation is overwhelming, a rush of emotions you’ve tried so hard to bury. His lips are firm and insistent, and when his teeth graze your lower lip, you let out a soft gasp that seems to ignite something in him. He tilts his head, angling the kiss to deepen it further, and you feel his fingers tighten on your waist.
Your hands find their way to his chest, pressing lightly against the hard muscle beneath his shirt. It’s not a push to stop, but it makes him pause. He pulls back just enough to meet your gaze, his breathing uneven.
“This okay?” he asks, his voice hoarse.
You nod, your fingers curling into his shirt. “Yeah.”
He lets out a soft laugh, pressing his forehead against yours. “You have no idea how long I’ve wanted this.”
His confession sends a shiver through you, but before you can respond, his lips are on yours again. This time, there’s less hesitation. His hand slips under the hem of your sweater, his palm warm against the bare skin of your lower back. The touch is electric, sending sparks racing up your spine.
You can’t help the soft moan that escapes you, and Seungcheol freezes, pulling back abruptly. “Sorry,” he murmurs, his voice strained. “I said slow, and I mean it. I don’t want to mess this up.”
You’re breathless, your cheeks flushed as you look up at him. There’s a vulnerability in his expression that makes your heart ache. “You’re not messing anything up,” you assure him, your fingers still gripping his shirt.
He exhales deeply, resting his hands on your hips but making no move to take things further. “You’re going to be the death of me,” he mutters, half-smiling as he brushes his thumb against your hipbone.
The sound of a soft thud inside the cabin breaks the moment, and both of you freeze, turning toward the door.
“Areum,” you whisper, your heart racing for an entirely different reason now
Seungcheol chuckles under his breath, stepping back and running a hand through his hair. “Guess the universe has a way of keeping me in check.”
You can’t help but laugh softly, shaking your head. “We should check on her.”
He nods, his expression still warm. As you turn to head back inside, he catches your hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. “Slow,” he repeats, his eyes locking with yours. “But I’m not letting you go this time.”
You smile, the warmth of his words settling deep in your chest. “Okay.”
Inside, Areum is fast asleep, her stuffed rabbit lying on the floor beside her bed. You tuck her back in, brushing a kiss to her forehead before slipping out of the room. As you close the door, Seungcheol is waiting in the hallway, his arms crossed loosely over his chest.
“Goodnight,” you say softly, pausing in front of him
“Goodnight,” he replies, but his eyes linger on you a moment longer before he heads to his own room.
You retreat to your bed, your heart still racing from the night’s events. For the first time in years, you feel a flicker of hope—a possibility of rebuilding what you thought was lost. And as you drift off to sleep, you find yourself looking forward to what tomorrow might bring.
The next morning you were woken up by the sound of Areum’s laughter as she runs through the living room, her stuffed rabbit trailing behind her. Seungcheol is chasing after her, pretending to be a monster, his deep growls making her shriek in delight.
You go down to see the duo having so much energy this early in the day, a fond smiling forming on your face
“Daddy, you’ll never catch me!” Areum taunts, darting behind the couch.
“We’ll see about that!” Seungcheol lunges dramatically, scooping her up and tossing her over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.
“Put me down!” she squeals, though her giggles betray her delight.
“Okay, okay, you win!” she says between giggles.
He sits beside her, brushing a strand of hair out of her face. “That’s what I thought. Who’s the champ?”
“You are!” she says, sticking her tongue out at him before turning her attention to you. “Mommy! Come sit with us!”
You join them on the couch, Areum immediately climbing into your lap and wrapping her arms around your neck. “Did you have fun this weekend, sweetheart?” you ask, smoothing her hair
“Yes! It was the best birthday ever!” she exclaims, her eyes lighting up. Then, as if remembering something important, she leans back to look at both you and Seungcheol, her expression suddenly serious
“What is it, Areum?” you ask her
She takes a deep breath, her little brows furrowed in concentration. “Yesterday, when I blew out my candles, I made a wish.”
You and Seungcheol exchange a quick glance, his brow lifting in curiosity "We remember, what about it sweet girl?"
"I thought about it a lot. And since Mommy and Daddy are best friends” she pauses to give each of you a knowing look, “—I thought maybe you could make it happen.”
Seungcheol bursts into laughter, ruffling Areum’s hair. “That’s quite the request, princess.”
“But you always say you’d do anything for me!” she counters, crossing her arms in a way that makes her look far older than six.
You bite back a smile, trying to keep your tone serious. “Sweetheart, it doesn’t exactly work like that.”
“Why not?” she asks, tilting her head.
“Well,” Seungcheol jumps in, his voice warm and teasing, “it’s not something that happens overnight. It takes time and a lot of love.”
Areum seems to consider this, her little face scrunching up in thought. Then she looks at the two of you, her smile returning. “That’s okay! I can wait. As long as you promise!”
You and Seungcheol both laugh, and he reaches over to give her a hug. “We’ll see what we can do, princess. No promises, but we’ll try our best.”
“Yay!” Areum cheers, completely satisfied with that answer. She wriggles out of your lap and runs off to find her toys, leaving the two of you alone.
As soon as Areum disappears down the hall, Seungcheol turns to you, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. “Well, that was unexpected.”
You laugh, shaking your head. “She’s bold. Definitely takes after you.”
“Me?” he protests, feigning offense. “I think she takes after her mom. You’ve got a pretty bold streak yourself.”
“So, what do we tell her if she asks again?”
Seungcheol leans back, his gaze softening as he looks at you. “We tell her the truth. That we’re figuring things out, but we’ll always be a family—no matter what.”
“And hey,” he adds, his tone teasing, “if she really wants a sibling, I guess we’ve got our work cut out for us.”
You swat his arm, laughing despite yourself. “Don’t get ahead of yourself, Choi Seungcheol.”
He grins, reaching for your hand and intertwining your fingers. “No rush,” he says softly, his eyes locking with yours. “We’ll take it one step at a time.”
And as you sit there, hand in hand, you can’t help but feel that, for the first time in a long while, you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.

Telling the kids they're going to be a big sibling
Pairing: hyung line x reader / maknae line
Genre: marriage au
Warnings: some suggestive but mostly heart clenching fluff
Summary: You two decide to tell your older kid(s) that they're going to be a big brother/sister.
BANGCHAN:
You found out you were pregnant again almost three months ago. Chan came up with the good idea of waiting until things were in the safe zone to tell your son Jesse, he was going to be a big brother. While Jesse was in school, you and Chan decided to go shopping and get a few things. Once you made your way back home, you got everything set up. “Channie, do you think he'll be happy? Like actually thrilled?”
Chan came to your side and wrapped his arms around your waist. “He's going to love it. I grew up with a younger brother and sister, and it was wonderful! I'm positive that Jesse will be thrilled.” You smiled and finished up what you were doing and set it aside until your son came home. Now you just had to occupy your thoughts and calm down.
When Chan went to get Jesse, you set up the house. You finished putting up the last decoration as they walked through the door. “W-wait, close your eyes!” Both boys quickly covered their eyes, making you laugh. “Okay now you can open them.” Chan opened his before Jesse and stood by your side. On the count of three, the both of you popped confetti cannons. “Surprise!”
“Woah what's all this for, it's not my birthday and I didn't pass a test, so I'm confused.” Chan ruffled his kids' hair and handed him a card. “It's something different but good, you see your mom is pregnant, which means you're going to be a big brother.” Once the words big brother left his mouth, Jesse's eyes shot towards you. “Is it true! Wait, really!” He ran, hugged you both while jumping up and down. “Oh I wished this would happen, and it did, I have to tell Minji!” The boy ran off in fits of giggles, leaving just Chan by your side. “I told you he'd be thrilled.”
LEE KNOW:
Ever since Minji heard that Jesse was going to be a big brother, she's been bugging you and Lee know about a sibling. That was well over a month ago, and you're here now staring at a positive pregnancy test. Lee know was off to pick up your daughter, and you didn't know how to react. Of course, it's been talked about, but you couldn't just flat out say it. This needed to be special for the both of them.
You grabbed your purse and headed to the store as fast as you could. You grabbed a card and a baby onesie hoping you'd make it before them, but that wasn't the case. Lee know had his phone and was about to call you as you walked through the door. “Mommy!” Minji ran and hugged you, grabbing at the bag you had. “Oh this uh Min wait-” Lee know grabbed the bag and looked inside confused.
“Well I have you both here so, well, I found out today you're going to be a big sister, Minji!” The little girl squealed and hugged you tightly and her father. “This is the best. I can't wait to tell everyone at school tomorrow!" Lee know pulled you into his arms and kissed you. “We're pregnant again? This is the best day”
CHANGBIN:
Getting pregnant the first time was very hard for Changbin and you. You had complications during the birth and were honestly a bit frightened to go through it all again. Changbin understood your fears and you both were content with your twins. However, similar to any kid they would ask about siblings, and you didn't know how to break it to them, neither did your husband.
You spent countless nights awake thinking of what to do, and it finally hit you.
It was around 1am and you shook Changbin awake. “Mmm baby what is everything okay?” You laughed a bit and moved his bangs from his eyes. “Yes, just, you know how Cho and Areum have been wanting a little sister.” Changbin sat up, nodding at your words. “Well we can get them a puppy, it's not like a sibling but in a way it is, and you used to want a dog so bad when we first got together.” You really hoped he liked the idea.
He did, and you found yourself adopting a little chocolate lab. The twins were over the moon and named him Max. As luck would have it, the following year you got pregnant and weren't as scared any more you were actually quite excited. When it came time to tell the girls, you and Changbin went all out and had a party and gave both girls baby dolls. It took some understanding, but once you told them you were having their baby sister they couldn't be happier and Max was delighted as well.
HYUNJIN:
It's been 5 months since you had your son Jin young when you found out you were pregnant again. Of course, you weren't surprised, as you and Hyunjin were inseparable. It was still shocking. You put Jin young down for a nap and thought of cute ways to break the news to your husband. You were positive he'd be thrilled, but had slight doubts.
You phoned Lee know's wife and talked to her about it. She congratulated you and talked about how she told Lee know and Minji. She gave you cute tips, and you were off to the store with your son. You didn't want to be cheesy or cliché but Hyunjin loved all that, so you went to the bakery and had a little cake be made. You got a few things for supper and headed back home, where Hyunjin was waiting for you.
“Ah ha there's my beautiful wife and handsome little boy” he took Jin young and kissed all over his face. You always knew he'd be a great dad. “Well I actually have a surprise, and we get to have dessert before dinner.” You took out the cake and told him to cover his eyes which he did but confusingly.
“Baby what is… You're pregnant?” The cake was his favorite flavor and written on it was 'Dad of 2' his face lit up and looked at Jin young. “You hear that little man you're going to be a big brother” The scene that played you wanted it to last forever.

(❆⋆.˚) pretty like snow !
✶⋆.˚꩜ .ᐟ [choi hyunwoo x reader] ...୨♡୧... wc. 2.5k w. curse words! fluff ᶻ 𝗓 𐰁 .ᐟ
maybe telling your friends about your crush on hyunwoo hadn’t been your best idea yet.
look, you understood that they were trying to be supportive after you told them how haunted you were by the feelings you harbored for a certain friend, but this was not what you qualified as supportive.
you mentally cursed at your friend from the back seat of the van you found yourself in, holding onto the handle on the side of the car for dear life as you tried to not squish hyunwoo to death in every curve the car took a little too fast. you should’ve known, really, that they would pull some shit like that on the trip they planned. but you were naive, thinking only of achieving your lifelong dreams to spend christmas up in the mountains with your friends.
you kind of regretted it now, because making you sit next to hyunwoo on a four person row that was currently sitting five people was just the beginning of what would be four days of complete embarrassment and torture.
“yechan move your ass, i’m squishing the poor girl” hyunwoo said as he tried to push yechan further down the seat, the poor boy being squished between hyunwoo and hunter’s girlfriend, and your best friend, aerum.
“i can’t move! areum is taking up too much space” the younger boy complained as he glared at the girl sitting next to him.
“i’m not! hunter is too big for this row!” she retorted, making the mentioned guy roll his eyes with annoyance.
“you said you wanted me to sit with you!”
“i literally didn’t, i wanted to sit next to yn!” she complained, and you rolled your eyes again because you knew damn well she had orchestrated this whole thing for you and hyunwoo.
“can you guys please stop screaming?” junghoon asked from his comfortable, incredibly spacious double seat in the front.
“easy for you to say” yechan said as he childishly moved around, looking for more comfort. “that’s it, someone had to take one for the team and get on someone's lap”
your eyes widened in fear. oh, fuck no.
“not it!” you screamed, your pointer finger flying to touch the tip of your nose. you were followed by the rest of them, hyunwoo being the last one.
“fuck!” he complained, making you chuckle lightly in victory.
“someone has to carry him, not it!” areum blurted out as quickly as she could, keeping her finger in place.
you were fast, but not fast enough. your finger flew back to your nose milliseconds after hunter’s did, leaving you speechless at the fate you had met.
“i’m not carrying him” you complained, shaking your head.
“he can carry you, you’re the losers so figure it out” yechan said, smiling proudly.
“i’m a girl and i’m uncomfortable with this” you spoke, earning groans from the boys in the row and laughs from the ones in front.
“don’t play that card, that’s so unfair” yechan whined.
“i’m surprised you even made me sit here, really” you continued on with your drama.
“she’s right, you guys are so impolite,” junmin agreed from his place in the passenger seat.
“you’re the one with the single seat, it’s literally your fault,” hyunwoo defended.
“if she gets a single seat then i should too!” your best friend chimed in.
“you’re sitting with your boyfriend, just go on his lap” you pressed, glaring at her jokingly.
“if i do, everyone will start whining about us being coupley!” she retorted, making hunter nod in agreement.
“let’s all stop whining and suck it up,” minjae interrupted for the first time, looking stressed in the front seat. “yn can get shotgun when we drive back, but if you could deal with it for four hours you can deal with it for two more, now shush before i drive us off a cliff”
silence followed after the oldest spoke, all of you reluctantly shutting up until seeun’s voice arose for the first time.
“who told him he’s the leader?”
and hell broke loose again.
…
“yn, hey, wake up” you heard a distant voice call out as a hand shook your shoulder slightly. you opened your eyes reluctantly and confused as to where you were until everything came crashing down when your groggy eyes met hyunwoo’s. “we’re here, you’ve been asleep for the past hour”
thank god.
you nodded and sat up, stretching your body slightly in attempts to wake yourself up more, missing the small smile that took place in hyunwoo’s lips at the sight.
“aerum wanted me to let you know she wants to crash with hunter until yujun gets here, so i think you might have a room all to yourself” he commented as you both got out of the car.
you had rented a six room house, and since yujun had stayed back to take an economics final, you had the privilege to stay alone for two of the four nights you were staying there.
“oh, thank god” you sighed contently as you walked towards the house “i was not prepared to deal with how messy she is”
hyunwoo chuckled at your words, and your heart melted at the sound “do you think that’s how junghoon talks about me?”
“oh, yeah, definitely” you teased as you entered the building, smiling at how big and cozy it was.
you missed the way hyunwoo’s eyes stayed fixated on you, admiring your smiling face like you had hung all the stars in the sky just for him until his thoughts were interrupted by a loud voice approaching the both of you.
“you guys have been chosen to go grocery shopping, by the way, congratulations!” sumin said cheerfully, patting hyunwoo on the back.
“what? how?” you complained.
“we played rock paper scissors and you weren’t there so you lost” the older male shrugged, winking at you when hyunwoo wasn’t looking. “so take the car and go ahead”
you groaned in protest, knowing it was no use to argue with him and grabbing the keys before heading out.
the drive to the store was filled with random chatter and the sound of the radio playing whatever it could pick up, mostly old songs. both of you headed into the bulding, hyunwoo grabbing one of the large carts and letting you lead the way.
“i think we should forget the cereal sumin asked for” you commented as you read the list sumin had sent you. “he doesn’t deserve it”
hyunwoo chuckled and nodded in agreement “i like the way you think, yn” and you had to bite your tongue to not squeal like a little girl.
“i’ll take this one instead,” you smiled and tiptoed to attempt to grab the cereal box that stood unnecessarily high on the shelf. hyunwoo noticed your struggle and moved to help you, his hand instinctively holding your waist as he reached for the box.
“here, i got it” he said, voice almost a whisper as you stood almost frozen in place. you had been friends for a long time, but being that close was completely uncharted territory.
“uhm, yeah, thanks” you mumbled when he moved away, trying to regain your composure. “next is green onions, we can’t forget the green onions” you rushed, walking away and leaving a slightly confused hyunwoo behind.
“i guess she really likes green onions,” he muttered to himself as he followed you.
…
a whole day had passed since the cereal aisle incident, and even if nothing had actually happened, you couldn’t help but act awkward around hyunwoo. he hadn’t done anything wrong, of course, but the way he made you feel with every single tiny action of his was starting to worry you.
“i can’t act casually around him, it’s so bad” you groaned as you sat with aerum on the front porch of the house. “he genuinely makes me want to scream and giggle just by smiling at me, i think i have a disease of some sort.”
your friend snorted softly, shaking her head. “you don’t have a disease, you have a crush” she pushed your shoulder with hers “and i think he feels the same”
you looked at her once you heard her words, glaring at her slightly and jokingly “don’t get my hopes up for nothing please”
“i’m not! i promise” she smiled as she ruffled your hair “you should just go for it, i think he’d be more than happy if you did”
“i’ll think about it” you smiled affectionately as you watched her stand up when hunter got out of the house, waiting for her to join him. “i’ll see you later, enjoy”
“bye hun, think about what i told you!” she exclaimed before walking hand in hand with her boyfriend. you watched them leave with a small smile on your lips, wishing that was you with a certain someone.
“hey” you heard someone call from behind you just as you were going to stand up, making you turn around to watch hyunwoo walk towards you.
“hey, what’s up?” you smiled, your hand moving to play with your rings as a nervous habit.
“nothing much, i just saw you here alone and i thought i'd join you” he returned the gesture, sitting next to you. “i wanted to talk to you, too”
your heart began racing at his words, thoughts flooding your head trying to figure out what he could possibly need to talk to you about.
“sure, go ahead” you tried to mask the nervousness in your voice.
“i just wanted to apologize for making you uncomfortable yesterday at the store, i didn’t mean to,” he said, and you could hear how nervous he was as he looked anywhere but your direction. “i promise i wont get that close to you again”
your eyebrows furrowed as he spoke, a pang of guilt stabbing your chest as you realized what he meant. “you didn’t make me uncomfortable, hyunwoo”
his eyes flew to yours immediately, eyebrows furrowed in confusion. “i didn’t? then why are you acting so weird?”
oh.
you wanted the floor to swallow you whole.
“don’t even worry about it” you said, trying your hardest to dismiss the fact that he had noticed the effect he had on you, even if he didn’t know why.
“you sure?” he pressed, and if it wasn’t for the embarrassment that invaded your entire being you would’ve thought it was cute how much he cared.
“i’m sure, i really don’t mind having you close to me” and that just made it even worse.
you were on the verge of standing up and walking away towards the woods where you would eventually (hopefully) get lost and disappear when you realized his body had relaxed significatively, a small smile overtaking his pretty lips. “you don’t?”
“not really” you said, barely above a whisper as you tried to sound as nonchalant as you could.
“good, i’m happy to hear that” he said as his smile only grew wider. a couple seconds passed before he scooted his body closer to you, his shoulder now slightly grazing yours.
“the snow is pretty, isn’t it?” you said to break the nervous silence that surrounded you, making your strongest effort to bite back a giddy smile.
“yeah, beautiful” he breathed out at the same time that you turned to look at him, finding him already staring at you.
…
“it’s christmas morning, yn, don’t be a grinch” seeun said from the other side of the door, his consistent knocking starting to drive you insane.
“it is barely morning, it’s seven am” you groaned, covering yourself further with the covers as if that were to shield you from your friend’s annoying voice.
“if you can check your phone for the time then you’re wide awake, now come on before i open your presents for you.” now that woke you up.
“you wouldn’t dare” you exclaimed, sitting up from your bed abruptly.
“believe me, i would” he dared, and even though you knew he wouldn’t, you couldn’t risk it.
“give me five minutes and i’ll be right down” you groaned as you stood up from the bed, going to the adjacent bathroom to get decent to go to your friends.
a smile overtook your face as you walked down the stairs, all your friends sat under the christmas tree the house had come with, dressed in ridiculous festive pajamas as they eagerly waited for you to join them.
“i’m here, go ahead” you chuckled as you approached them, seeun not sparing you a single look before he jumped right ahead to find what boxes belonged to him.
“morning, yn” hyunwoo smiled as you made your way onto the couch, where a spot next to him was conveniently available.
“morning hyunwoo” you smiled back.
“IS THAT YN? GIVE HER THE PHONE” a familiar voice screamed through hunter’s phone, making your attention shift towards it. the boy handed you the phone and you couldn’t help but smile at the sight of yujun. “HI YN” he exclaimed.
“hi, yujunnie” you chuckled affectionately “how are you?”
“bad, awful, stuck at an inn in the middle of nowhere with no presents whatsoever” he pouted.
“i’m sorry, that sucks” you mentioned, feeling bad for the boy in the other line.
yujun sighed exaggeratedly “it’s fine, there's a pretty girl here so at least that’s that.”
you giggled and continued to talk to him for a couple more minutes before moving onto opening presents with all your friends. you were in the middle of cleaning up all the wrapping paper when you felt a tap on your shoulder, hyunwoo being the culprit.
“can you come outside with me for a minute?” he asked, sounding a bit more nervous than he wanted to. you nodded and followed him outside, hugging your arms as the cold air hit you. “i got you something else” the boy smiled as he extended a small box towards you.
“thank you, hyunwoo, that’s really sweet of you” you thanked as you grabbed the box, not trying to hide the smile he caused you. you opened the gift and let out a soft breath at the sight of a small necklace, a charm sitting adorably in the middle. “it’s so pretty, thank you so much but why-”
“sumin told me you like me” hyunwoo interrupted.
your eyes widened as you looked up to him in fear, experiencing the five stages of grief in a single second before trying to quickly brace yourself for the rejection you had ahead of you. you were going to kill sumin.
“he did what?” you asked, the tone of your voice betraying your astonishment.
“he only did it because i like you too, and i wanted to tell you soon because i know how much you like christmas but i was really scared because i didn’t know if you liked me back, so he had to convince me somehow but i wouldn’t believe him so he told me” he rambled on nervously, his inexplicable ability to speak coming out to save you in a moment of panic.
you stood there for a couple of seconds, unable to move or say anything at the shock that was knowing your crush liked you back.
“yn?” hyunwoo asked, trying to bring you back to reality. you couldn’t find the words to express the happiness you felt in that moment, so you did what any sensible person would do; take his face in your hands and smash your lips together.

Nicholas remembers meeting his girlfriend
WARNINGS: Second hand embarrassment, Nicholas gets talked about like Jasper from Twilight, SUGGESTIVE, and I think that's it. PAIRING: Nicholas Ross x OC (Shadeen)
Nicholas Ross Master List
The morning sun shining through the open curtains blinds Nicholas. He could've sworn they closed those curtains. His eyes adjust as his body wakes and the first thing he sees is a water bottle. After taking a sip, he noticed the vacant spot next to him.
"I was going to do breakfast in bed, but I can't cook," She mumbles, placing a tray on the bedside table. There are eggs, bacon, and pancakes with a cup of cranberry juice and another of orange juice. "Your friend helped me. The oldest in this dorm?"
"Minho," Nicholas answered, his voice rough with sleep. He shoved a piece of bacon in his mouth and fought the thoughts telling him to spit it back out.
"What do you wanna do today? I was thinking we could relax before facing the others or we could hightail it for the door. Your drawer still has some clothes, but you might need to restock it," Nicholas rambles, chewing the same piece of bacon. It shouldn't be this hard to eat.
The food was wonderful, but his stomach was not.
Ignoring the queasy feeling, Nicholas looks at his girlfriend and sighs. Her eyes are bright and her body is covered by his shirt pooling around her thighs. The sun shined behind her creating a halo around her.
She's gorgeous.
"You didn't hear a thing I said, huh?" Nicholas chuckles, his voice gentle and his smile soft. He watches Shadeen blink free from her gaze.
"I'm sorry, what'd you say?" Her voice was just as quiet as his. He didn't know why they were whispering. It felt like speaking too loud would break the peace.
"I asked what you want to do?" He repeated, pushing her hair behind her ear. He watched her scoop eggs into her mouth, her cheeks inflating with food before swallowing and leaning against his shoulder.
Shadeen is the warmth you get sitting by the fire. The warmth from curling up on a cold winter day. She is the joy you feel when your favorite show releases a season. The joy felt when you reunite with your family. She is the relief of relaxing after a long day, and the relief of letting go and being happy.
Shadeen is Nicholas's heaven.
It didn't matter if the sun wasn't shining for everyone else. His star was brighter than anything in the universe. Even brighter than that stupid sunbeam Minho keeps using to wake him up. The one Seungmin calls Flashlight x1000.
"Do you remember how we met?" Shadeen whispered, kissing up and down Nick's jawline and rubbing his chest.
"Like a cliche in a dumb Christmas movie?" The younger laughs, raising his hands to protect himself from the onslaught of soft hits.
"Yes, embarrassed," Nicholas teased, "I remember."
Shadeen and her friend, Areum, worked morning shifts with a shitty boss breathing down their necks. The duo were always gossiping. One gossiping while working and the other staring at each person walking through the door. Attached by the hip.
Shadeen messes with coffee filters behind the counter while Areum pretends to do some form of work. Occasionally, the taller girl would lean over to whisper in Shadeen's ear, earning a quiet laugh.
Today's topic in gossip was a guy sitting alone in the corner of the cafe. His hair was in a ponytail full of braids covered by a cap. Sunglasses and a mask hid his face from everyone, but the sun made his brown skin shine. His attention was on a book and some papers.
"I think he's a student," Areum's high-pitched voice interrupted Shadeen's thoughts. When she looked up, the taller girl was tilting her head at the boy.
"We're students," Shadeen said. Areum's eyes rolled before flicking between her friend and the guy now checking the thick textbook beside him. Shadeen huffed, "What? We are."
"I think that's that boy in your class," Areum muttered, pulling more cups out a bag. "The cute tall one who walks like he's in pain."
"Well..." Shadeen's voice trailed, "Maybe he is in pain?"
"I am, but I've gotten used to it."
Their heads had never moved so fast, and Shadeen's 99% certain she heard a bone pop in Areum's neck. There's that guy they were just staring at. His thick eyebrows are raised over his sunglasses and one of his braids hangs in front of his eye. He's either smirking or has a crooked smile because one of his cheeks is pressing into his glasses and eye.
"Hello, nice to meet you," He whispered, his hand lifting in a tiny wave. His voice is much more quiet than Areum's.
"I'm embarrassed and this is Areum," Shadeen introduced, before slamming her face into her hands. Giggles and a hand carefully pulling away hers made her lift her head.
The boy was smiling now, both cheeks peeking over the mask and pushing his glasses up as his nose scrunched. He takes her hand and shakes it.
"Nice to meet you, embarrassed. I'm amused," He teased.
Areum's eyes bounce between the two before glancing at a customer waiting behind the tall boy. She pats Shadeen's shoulder before stepping to another register, effectively pulling the customer away and giving the other two time together.
"I got in trouble for slacking on the job that day," Shadeen said, nodding in thought. Nicholas giggled. He remembered her complaining to him about her boss. The old man told her to keep her romance away from work.
"I like to think you getting in trouble pushed us together." Nicholas shrugged as Shadeen leaned against him, her head bobbing with his shoulder.
"We would've gotten together at some point."

aww he blew her a kiss ☺️ how cuuuuuteee
TC!dad!JK
even though he couldn’t see you as he rode off, you blew a kiss back and whispered a quiet “be safe” as you watched the large army ride off. you were shocked when the doctor told you that you were to be expecting twins especially considering the last incident. the news made you cry when he told you and so you held onto the good news until jungkook’s departure and you’re hoping this will give him motivation for return home safe, no pressure of course. but you’re sure your trusted partner will be okay. you, however, won’t be.
so day after day, month after month, you are loaded with work. one moment it’s something with the concubines, next it’s something with an ally, then an ally offering you a trade for something, and then your kids are becoming angsty, especially ae-cha. she’s more cranky than usual and because you’re loaded with work, you’ve been missing her dance recitals. recitals you promised to attend.
its been 6 months and everyone is shocked on how well you’re managing by yourself for your first time. although your assigned council is helpful, you’re still exhausted nearly everyday. it’s always something after something and finally after forever, your well-trusted honorary staff ji-eun informed you of miriam’s whereabouts. turns out she got incredibly ill and never informed anyone about her condition. not even jungkook, apparently. so, you assigned a personal physician to look after her and report her condition to you which only got worse and worse.
7 months into your pregnancy, miriam rested permanently and you dealt with that sadness alone. that day, the garden was filled with roses and snowdrops and because of your deep sadness, it began to effect the health of your babies. you even began sleeping on jungkook’s side on the bed a lot more than usual. holding the pillows he slept on as a form of comfort.
your kids really uplifted you during that timeframe and around 8 months, you were on bedrest until the birth of the babies. lots of the citizens in goryeo sent their blessings to the queen for a healthy and successful delivery. queens from different areas that were allied with jungkook came and gifted you with all kinds of souvenirs for both you and the babies.
finally, your 9th month, the possible birth month of the twins seems to be september which is jungkook’s birth month and you think it’s kind of cute. you waddle to your bedroom with your kids and your children are so excited to meet their two new siblings. jinseoul is now 13, ae-cha is now 11, areum is now 5, jawon is now 2, and now that they’re all together like this, you realize just how strong your husbands genes are. each one of them looks like their father except for jawon who has more of your features yet the resemblance is clear.
you’re hoping for two boys again but who knows how the delivery will go. speaking of your 9th month, jungkook SHOULD be back, right? although you receive updates every now and then of his whereabouts, you’re worried he’ll come short on his promise and he’ll be gone for—
“SOMEONE!! QUICK!! CALL THE PHYSICIAN!! THE QUEEN HAS GONE INTO LABOR!!” yells a maid and physicians quickly rush to your aid. “mom?” asks a concerned areum.
“i’m o-okay. j-just..nngh…w-wait outside, okay?” you manage to get out and a nanny quickly evacuates your worried children to their rooms while the doctors begin informing you to calm down.
“okay your highness, push!” and you do.
“you’re doing good”
“we’re almost there”
“push!”
and you push again.
and again.
and again.
tears are pouring from your eyes as you begin crying for jungkook. you desperately want him to be here to hold your hand because you don’t think you can do this on your own. you’re scared and you’re alone.
“i’m sure he is on his way, your highness. you can do this. i know you can”
you nod your head and begin pushing once again and finally your baby’s head is peaking through, the shoulder, and then finally the first twin is delivered.
“IT’S A GIRL!!” yells the doctor as the other doctors congratulate you. “we’re losing a lot of blood” says another doctor and because the babies are positioned for you to push naturally, you do. you’re pushing again and God, you’re so tired. you’re lightheaded and strangely, you feel fingers threading through yours and when your vision clears, there stands jungkook. his hair has gotten longer, a lot longer. he looks freshened up yet his hair is unruly like he was rushing to get to you.
“j-jungkook?” you cry and squeeze jungkook’s hand to make sure he’s real. he gives your hand a kiss and presses his head to yours while encouraging you to push the second baby out. coaxing you to give it all you’ve got and finally, your second baby is out. “IT’S ANOTHER GIRL!!” yells the physician while others congratulate you and the king for your two new babies.
“the queens vitals looks to be fine. lost a lot of blood but she’ll be okay. the babies are healthy as well, your highness. welcome back” says the physician as jungkook cuts the umbilical cord and looks at the healthy twins who eventually calmed down and rested on your breasts.
“i’ve missed you so much” you say, tiredly reaching for jungkook’s hand which he gives you and leans down to your level to kiss you. you sniffle “i’m..i’m not dreaming right? y-you’re actually here, right?”
it’s the quickest and tedious war jungkook has fought to get back to you. although most soldiers were wounded, there were no casualties.
jungkook made you a promise and meant every word he said. here he was, back to you to witness the birth of his beautiful twin girls. “DADDY!!!!!” yelled his kids who immediately ran up to their father once they saw him. “twin girls? aw man” says areum who is STILL reluctant to share her father’s attention with anyone else. “what will we name them?” you ask jungkook.
“i’m thinking…ayra and moonbyul??”
~🫧
wheeew 😮💨 im so sorry. you can frfr start when she gave birth. i got too immersed lol
You’re so tired, he’s so tired. But you’re both so happy right now. Jungkook presses a chaste kiss on your lips, and he caresses your cheek.
“Baby I’m so proud of you… you really made me a girl dad..” he almost cries as he stares lovingly at his newborn girls. “Oh my God..” he exclaims, not leaving your hand at all.
“Hi baby. Daddy’s home.” He hugs as his daughters rush in to hug him. “Do you want to meet your baby sisters?” He questions and laughs at areum when she makes a weird face.
“No don’t be like that.” The staff watches the sweet interaction while the nurses take your babies and take them away to clean them up while the others tend to you.
“I think we should name the other one jieun.. what do you say? Ayra and Jieun?” He asks you. “My love I’m so happy- you’ve given me the biggest gift ever.” He kisses your hands all over.
“Rest now okay, I have to go meet my sons too.” He whispers.

playing (festival) games
continued from here w/@areumxmp
Most people would consider themselves indescribably lucky not only to date their best friend but to be perceived by that significant other as able to do no wrong. Here he was with both yet he still acted petulant.
-and even his petulance did not so much as have that aforementioned best friend batting an eye.
Between Bes's catty attitude and the fan Areum produces, the librarian looks beyond spoiled, tail lashing and gaze turned away from his adoring man-servant. Truthfully, if he is any type of spoiled it is that very "man-servant's" fault. The only thing worse than having an adoring boyfriend that carried hand fans around for you and gave you cute little names even when you were being standoffish? An adoring boyfriend that was also ridiculously patient and willing to ignore any amount of bad vibes you tried to fill the air with. The worst part of all? Having an adoring boyfriend with very kissable lips that now tasted like strawberry.
Instead of letting that sweet little gesture turn into a real kiss Bes leans away, eyes following a drip from the other man's cone as it lands on his chest. The first thought that comes is how lickable the little bit of sweetness is- which immediately has him frowning when he might ordinarily be doing just that. Anyone would take that same opportunity, especially that stupid ice cream booth employee; and Areum wouldn't have done anything to make them think they couldn't, either.
"You're messy."
Shoving his napkin into the front of the other demigod's tank top he turns in the same motion, taking the few steps to the trashcan and tossing his now liquid cone, crossing his arms as he waited for his boyfriend to come with him.
The day was nice even if a bit hot and he couldn't deny it was nostalgic and sentimental to be at the festival they had such fond childhood memories from... and maybe that was why he was so touchy over his bestfriend spending all that extra time chatting away. It had been a year since they had been reunited and... maybe he was waiting for things to come crashing down. Secretly he had been thinking more and more about the honest fact that he was all the ex-con had here. It had him in his head and he couldn't help but wonder if their relationship was built on familiarity instead of love.
For Bes? Areum was everything. He was hopelessly, completely, irrevocably, infatuated- even if it didn't always seem like it. The librarian was notoriously laid back, never seeming particularly ruffled without very good reason; lazy in his reactions and demeanor. It was hard to tell when he felt strongly about something, never initiating public displays of affection or making a scene. Even now he didn't vocalize his displeasure or make a scene- the only one who would be able to tell he was upset was his boyfriend. So whether he seemed it or not, he was much more bothered by the situation than he expressed.
-because... Areum was always cutesy and indulgent of him. Maybe that was just... how he was with a partner. Maybe Bes wasn't as special as he liked to think he was, and now that his childhood friend was getting settled and comfortable on the island, he was considering his options. It wouldn't be the first time the feline had been a placeholder. He had been thinking about that a lot recently, and how he absolutely could not take a blow like that from Areum.
It would, of course, be best to be honest about these building fears. Who would he be if he were candid about all of the things that scared him, though? A more mentally healthy person, perhaps, but that was another matter altogether. So Bes plans to swallow up all of those thoughts for now, considering as they walk that maybe he should just let it go and try to enjoy the day- up until a call of his name has ears swiveling and attention turning to a demigod he only vaguely remembers from... a certain kind of time spent. A new idea pops into his mind as he stops abruptly, returning the greeting a little too pleasantly with a smile that is a little too playful.

goshhh mommy issues already ended!!! both lead characters in this fic are dangerously toxic but i loved it lmao! the thing is, its hard for me to accept jk’s action in this finale chapter, like he claims to love y/n badly but managed doing sex w another woman out of pity?! i considered it as cheating tho. y/n deserves to know the things jk did w areum behind her back so that she can truly open her blind eyes 🥹
Hi 👋🏾 I’m happy you’ve enjoyed mommy issues 🫶🏽 I wasn’t expecting people to like it as much as they did!
I agree JK was wrong for technically cheating on the mc, but yet again he’s a man that never see’s wrong in whatever he does 😅 I see it as he has the mc right where he wants her - depending on him and never questioning his intentions. She doesn’t have anyone on her side but Jungkook.
(Sorry for the late reply 🥲)

hi clover! how have you been? have you listened to layover yet? ive been so busy but i finally have some time to catch up with toapp and talk to you :D im gonna go on a long rant so beware …
drabble 25 was definitely a turning point in the story! i really liked seeing jungkooks perspective on things since we already know what oc has been thinking and its kinda nice to see that the feelings are mutual on both ends! or well i hope they are … who knows with these two 😵💫
the scene between areum and him literally made my heart flutter sm 😭 he kept thinking abt oc even though he was with one of his little girlfriends and was super hesitant to kiss her or even call her baby! hes growing a soft spot for oc and doesnt know how to deal with it :((
the next few drabbles honestly broke my heart into a billion tiny pieces. i kinda knew it was gonna happen but i didnt expect it to hurt me this much 😭 i dont know if anyone else mentioned this but drabble 27 really reminds me of 10 things i hate abt you (the movie) when kat was reading her poem to the class! he doesnt really hate oc but hes confused on these new feelings he has for her and doesnt know what to do :(( he doesnt wanna accept the fact that he does love her so he resorts to hating her instead since all he knows is to avoid that feeling!
the start of drabble 28 😳 i seriously thought i missed a chapter! im happy we get to see more of taehyung and ocs friendship as well as her and yoongis. theyre all so adorable with each other and i wont lie but i do have a soft spot for yoongi … jungkook pls come back hes stealing your girl and your readers!
finally i can talk abt drabble 29 :D it was so cute and wholesome and my soft little heart couldnt take it 😭 definitely one of my favorite chapters! jungkook was such a boyfriend in this update and he even has a toothbrush at her place now! as you can see im very happy oc gave jungkook another chance … lets hope he doesnt fuck it up 🤞🏼
anyway i think thats all for now! im excited to see what you have planned for the other chapters and as always take care and rest lots <3 ill talk to you next time! — 🐯
hiii!!! it’s been a while
yesss not taehyung shouting me out in rainy days hehehehe
yes, 25 was a jk pov and we finally get to peek inside jk’s head
27, yes! that’s the vibe i was going for
28 LMAOOO i was hoping to give my readers whiplash w that one
29 was finally time to get serious (thank fuck cause we’re almost at 30 and they were still going back n forth😭) lets hope he doesn’t fuck it up indeed!
