My Durge has never been spoken to like this, since it's proper to refer to Bhaal's prodigy as Most Vile Lord, etc etc, so Astarion just kind of destroyed him immediately.

I sketched some of my bg3 Durge, Vyrmis. He can't remember his past but he can remember being a cartoonishly evil overlord at times. He is very into dragons™, killing dragons, being a dragon, he read a book once where it said Bhaalspawn dragons are better than everyone else so he just rolled with that. His favorite way to murder is arson. Anyway he will be marrying Astarion and they'll have lots of kids the end.

Backstory of my Durge (he is a trans man, and this pre- all that):

He is a "late bloomer" in his Urge. He was raised by a noble family, very strict parents. Through the years they knew something was wrong with their sorcerer prodigy, and made him hold in his Urge so badly, that he did not act on it and it festered. On the day he was arranged (forced) to be married, he snapped, and killed the whole household. Sceleritas finally came to him on that day, and he started his life anew.

#2 Durge Asks: How does race play into the design?

I really wanted to keep dragons involved in my Durge, even though I wasn't playing the default dragonborn. There was a Bhaalspawn dragon in D&D who wrote something like "only dragons can handle the inheritance of Bhaal (having both ferocity and intelligence)" and I got inspired by that guy's obvious hubris. I think the general belief is that average Bhaalspawn live short and stupid lives because of the consequences of murder lust brain rot, so anyone who's climbed high in the ranks and managed to stay alive and become the cult leader (like Saarevok, for example) is using their brain.

So for Vyrmis I went with a high elf (noble, uppity) and draconic sorcerer with gold dragon blood (gold dragons are wise sages, and use diplomacy before violence). This gave my Durge a reason to believe he is better than other Bhaalspawn, because he thinks Bhaal created him with this specific combo so that he is better off, smarter, and retains the raw power of dragons. It's natural for him to think he's the Chosen One.

(I like playing any race/class, but I leaned into this one for the perfect tropeyness of it).

It's supposed to be "Vermis", which means worm, but I uh changed it to look like wyrm. (Orin calls him vermin behind his back)

Vyrmis named himself and he remembers it because he's heavily absorbed by his identity as a draconic sorcerer.

Durge asks:

5. Are they a plot device or the driving force? Do they exist to enhance Gortash or has Gortash developed to become the accessory wife? Do they compliment or foil each other?

Ooh so I feel like this is a Durgetash-y question right? They were in like, a "formal" non-intimate relationship that Gortash initiated. He was thinking my Durge was gonna be his complementary tyrant wife and my Durge was planning to make him just, an accessory. To wear. Alas, tadpole ruined everything.

13. Final and spiciest question. How down bad are you for your durge. Would you hit it even though you'd probably not make it out alive?

😅 I'm never really attracted to my OC's, they're made with like, a wishlist of pretty traits I wish I had. Pre-tadpole Vyrmis could not be hit on if you wanted to keep your lower half, so uh, I'm good. I wouldn't try that even now 😭

A question for Vyrmis: With him having some idea of being important even after getting brainslugged, how does he feel about Scleritas when he first shows up?

Vyrmis obviously has no idea who Sceleritas is, but his first reaction is "what took you so long??" because the tyrannical boss instinct kicked in and also because he doesn't want to look stupid.
