There's a scene in the first one where McQueen runs into a cloud of gnats with his mouth and he is not happy about it IIRC

But on the other hand Lightning McQueen is canonically a guy who doesn't touch grass and basically only goes outside in parking lots and manicured oval racetracks and doesn't know what to do with himself on a normal road at the start of the movie. So like, it's not out of the question that normal cars do this but they spray the turf at the racetracks with pesticides because hitting a bug at 200 mph sucks and Lightning lives entirely on extra high octane racing fuel because he's a professional athlete.

(also Fillmore, the hippy stoner VW van, sells "Organic fuel," which implies that even if petroleum based fuel exists the Cars universe has biofuels of some sort, which would also explain why tractors and combine harvesters exist even if they appear to be non-sapient)

I think the cars in Disney’s Cars universe not only “eat” gasoline (I can’t recall a refueling scene in any Cars movie because I’ve only ever seen Cars 2 and that was years ago, but like, I’m assuming this must be canon), but that they also likely supplement their diet by filter-feeding insects through their front grills

Lately someone I follow here has posted photos of some beautiful collector cars. I especially like the ones in candy apple red. Love that color of car but never had one.

Over the years though I have had many cars of all types. From a 1956 VW with the oval rear window and only 36 horsepower, to a couple of 60s muscle cars like a 1967 Chevelle SS 396 and others.

This photo though is a few years back and one of my favorites. A 1996 Firebird with the WS-6 performance package including a 6-speed manual transmission. Top speed 160 mph. Fun car. It inspired this poem I wrote back then. Perhaps not my best work but it expresses the emotion.
