1- What’s the lie your character says most often? (ira)

honestly, ira doesn't really lie. she says stuff as she thinks it and doesn't try to soften the blow.

you could count telling Hamza she's "not going to get into trouble" or "going to stay put" or "no I did not hid that bunch of insects on your bed why do you ask" as lies I guess but they both know she's lying so i guess there's that

9- Do they give tough love or gentle love most often? Which do they prefer to receive? (sher)

if only he could learn to plainly give love huh, wouldn't that be neat.

I feel that once he learns to he'll be a gentle love kind of dude, specially to karma, in fear of fucking up and hurting others. (he gets called out about it, even by karma). it is a journey™ and it mostly happens after púlsar but he'd eventually give tough love when necessary (mostly to sadaf. she's a little brat. she's also like 5. some would call it parenting)

as for himself, he's extremely tired of the tough 'love' his father gives him :) also he's already hard enough on himself he could use some gentleness

13- When do they fake a smile? How often? (sher and karma)

Sher? every fucking day of his fucking life. on a meeting? fake smile. talking to his father? fake smile. talking to karma? extra biggest fake smile. he always has his assholey smirk on his face. and. it. falls. the. second. he's. alone.

karma did use to fake a smile a lot when his mom was still alive. he didn't want to worry her about his problems so he told her everything was okay (it wasn't). now he just doesn't have reasons to pretend to be okay or happy anyways so he doesn't even bother :)

42- If invited to a TED Talk, what topic would they present on? What would the title of their presentation be? (ira)

REASONS WHY INVITING ME TO DO A TEDTALK WAS A BAD IDEA. A TED TALK BY ME (IRA)

that's,,, that's it. and this is only in the very unlikely case she would accept the invitation. like, she has the knowledge to give a ted talk about creations and how it all works, and that was probably the reason she got invited for starters, but 1. she's not very good at explaining it, 2. she's not a speech giving person, and 3. she's not talkative at all (unless she's bored and her voice is the only thing she has to distract bother others)

this question actually took me a while to answer. he doesn't think he can trust his friends (garvan, emhi, áine) because he feels like he's not a priority to them/ feels isolated from them and their dynamic and he'd rather keep his thoughts to himself.

during púlsar he ends up trusting 100% in ira ride or die. it's mostly out of guilt of all ira goes through (partly because of his own actions so he's compensating) (my boy is full of guilt what can i say) and he also has no reason not to trust her 100%

50- What belief / moral / personality trait do they stand by that you personally don’t agree with? (sher)

i don't personally agree with how he's going about everything actually, but it's not like he knows another way. he's trying his best. which isn't great. but he's trying

apart from that, the fact that he's being so careful to bring change when people are literally dying my dude hurry up who cares about protocol

LYRIC

you are right it's been so long, but because i'm actively working on púlsar i don't talk much about UP even tho i do draw them

okay so, for lyric im sharing his literal origin story, as well as some facts about the man and some drawings i like of him.

first some facts:

he's pan and a flirt

in the college au he needs glasses to read

his flower is lycoris radiata (got it from this video, minute 3:35)

origin story:

so i had been toying with the concept of a character named lyric which lived through multiple déjà vus. and he died too. one day (on a plane to ireland with school) i drew this guy:

and i went "oh he's cool i like him". then, like two months later i was drawing ely and i got a revelation:

"lyric & ely belong 2 the same story. ely is the one thing that's different at his new life" which is INSANE of my brain to think about because ely is a character from 2017 i drew ONCE. and now here we are

and then i drew him for the first time, and then in a scene with ely <;3 (and then killing a monster but im not showing it because i didn't know how to draw profiles and it shows)

KARMA

i find it hard to say things about karma because with his pov we learn most of the relevant stuff. so you are getting fun facts and a sad fact

first the fun:

in the modern aus he's legally blind. round golden rimmed glasses.

his plushy (you'll meet him in today's chapter i believe) is called jhai

his name comes from me hearing someone call their dog karma and going "oh that can be a name cool im using it" (the other dog was called kraken)

he's the character that has gone through the most extreme character design change of the bunch (mainly because everyone else didn't exist). but he was more of a black sheep of the family cool dude that could use guns (yes there were guns in púlsar early stages idk either). his hair was also auburn. and then idk what happened but i changed it to the mess he's now. very glad i did i love him

and now the sad. check tags for tw because oof:

so, my man is very depressed. his mom's death hit him hard and it was all in general a terrible time for him (also it was around his bday. this was totally unintentional i swear)

on the early days and in spite of the promise he made, he climbed onto his windowsill and thought about jumping. everything was just too much. fortunately, someone knocked on his door and scared him, he slipped backwards and fell to the floor. he hasn't told this to anyone and doesn't intend to, but even if that's two months before púlsar, that's basically the mental state he starts with

and stealing your phrase, spoiler for flavor: he doesn't end púlsar much better

SHER

i can't tell you much. but what i CAN do is show you some baby sher and karma being cute together so you are extra sad about today's púlsar chapter:

"baaaa" "will you stop pulling my hair?" // "mom look he's walking" (chasing a bird) & it's cut but it says "he's so tiny" // sher teaching karma how to read

sher being told he has to leave his mom's home "do i really need to leave?" and it's cut but it says "you need to learn to be a prince with your dad" // sher at the palace // sher and karma's plushy lions

also as a fun(?) fact, he was very close to his uncle (his mother's younger brother). he was a big support for him when he moved to the palace away from his mom, and acted as a shield (or as much as he could) between him and his father. the uncle's name is Ádil.

he was married to Orga (one of the members of the council, arranged marriage), and died shortly after karma moved to the palace (sher was around 16 by then, and for reference, he's 23 now). sher suspects that his uncle's death wasn't fully natural, but he still has to be nice to orga because she's powerful.

ádil was one of the few people in the council that openly opposed the shahin. go figures i wonder what happened there.

IRA

so i already answered an ask for her here, basically a love letter to her character i love her so much.

so you get old ira sketches being happy and free (and chaotic):

GARAVAN GARVAN

you did in fact not write that properly, but that's actually great because it gives a segue into a fun fact about him!

i affectionately call him gman and mostly all my notes refer to him as that. also, once my phone autocorrected his name to garbanzo (chick pea). bean (a nickname for a character from púlsar gen 2) calls him that (ira did totally not correct her when she started doing it because she thought it was 1. funny and 2. that it would annoy garvan). also! karma sometimes calls him G

as a not so fun fact: he often needs to be the balancing component in the friend group, being silly and making jokes. he doesn't look like it, but he's very caring and does worry a lot about karma (not that karma notices lol).

his mom died in childbirth so it was emhi's mom that took care of him (until she too died shortly after). we don't talk about their father.

he was close with sher when they were younger (sher used to beat him at sparring), bonding over being clear aldamu and what it meant for them (sher taught him things about khithi culture that his mom taught him).

(i have so Many Thought about emhi garvan and sher as young teens in the palace, you have no idea, there's some clues sprinkled around púlsar about it but that's all you are officially getting)

4. which ocs sleep curled up vs. spread out vs. moves a lot during the night?

curled up: ira (she's a moves a lot when she has nightmares, which is like 75% of the time, but still), garvan (out of necessity my man is so tall he doesn't fit on the mattress), karma (when 1. he sleeps and 2. doesn't do it at his desk), ely (surrounded by the literal god of death, he likes to cuddle)(also they don't need to sleep, but when they do)

spread out: sher (very rigid pose), emhi (in diagonal crushing áine because tall), áine (crushed by emhi), akira (when he finally gets a mattress for only himself)

moves a lot: níniam (he's very sick and even sleeping is uncomfortable for him poor baby), lyric (he also wakes up a lot. you know to make sure time didn't reset again), hannah (they somehow end up upside down on the bed), sahare (falls to the floor constantly)

15. which ocs are too self-sacrificial?

KARMA (my boy is destroying himself over a promise he made to his dying mother, sure, but he takes it too far) and akira (which is great for him because,,, doomed soldier)

you could count ira too because she'll do ANYTHING for níniam, but only him

40. which ocs will gladly eat candy as a meal?

akira would if he wasn't so health conscious because he has a very sweet tooth. hannah would but only if it's sour candy. bonus points because lyric and akira would be horrified at her for it (lyric because he hates sour candy and akira for reasons already stated)

níniam would because he's ten but won't because ira told him not to, and sahare loves sweets but not to that extreme (her intrusive thoughts tell her to do it when she's too lazy to cook though)

🖊 Ira

I love ira a lot. she was my comfort character to draw for years and the first first person pov I wrote, so she's very close to my heart even if we are completely different people personality wise (I'm much more like karma lol). i struggled to find something to talk about that wasn't a spoiler or directly stated on púlsar, so, uh, i guess im talking about her personality and who she is as a person. this is mostly a half organized ramble (sorry)

in púlsar we don't get to see much of her real personality because of the circumstances she finds herself in. we see glimpses of her "attitude problem" as it's been called, but she's mostly in survival mode, either groggy, raging, depressed, or repressing all her emotions altogether.

but we hear about how walks on the beach or hikes calm her down. she runs on roofs and jumps and dangles from high places for fun. she tells stories to kids and pranks her older brother. she's reckless with her actions and decisions and doesn't second guess herself, instinct first then thought. it hasn't failed her yet.

she's a person that gets bored easily if she can't move freely. she paces and bounces her legs or taps her finger around is she's bored, and if she can't, it's a problem. it doesn't mean that she needs to be moving all the time, she can just chill and be relaxed, but her surroundings need to be precise for her to do so. then there are moments where she appears calm (read: quiet) when in reality she's laser focusing on something, a though, a thing, or a person. it's scary to be around because her magic acts up when she does.

she's very liberal with touch. once she considers you her person, you are getting hugs, you are getting your hand holded, you are getting cuddles, she's short so you bet she'll sprawl herself all over you. this is a threat.

back to her attitude problem, she says things as she finds them. she'll argue with you, moreso if her opinion upsets you. she doesn't care about hurting your feelings (unless you are her person). she's a snarky little shit I love her.

and oh yes her people <3 she's not a person of many friends, even if she likes you, she might not befriend you. she takes a lot and a long time to trust new people and she's okay with that. but once she does, oh once she does. she'll do anything for you (except something that would hurt níniam). ride or die. to the ends of the earth. she'll fight your battles for you if you ask her to.

her life's been rough. she heard her mentor die at the hands of the imitators as a little kid (she was hiding on a hole with his blood dripping down), and was alone until she found hamza. and later, níniam, the light of her life, the one thing she values above herself and her own wellbeing. she's been sick and hungry, running for her life since she was 5, surviving as she could. her one wish is for níniam to be cured of the illness and to be okay.

basically she's a cat.

finally, I'd like to say that I'd most likely dislike her if I met someone like her in real life ngl

Relationship status: both single and neither of them have ever thought about being in a relationship lol

Favorite color: for ira it's the color of the sea at night (it lights up in a green vibrant from the poisonous substances the underwater plants exude) karma's favorite color is dark blue

Favorite food: ira has no preference. she will eat anything she can get her hands on karma misses the traditional dishes áine's grandmother cooked for them when they were kids

Song stuck in their head: in canon, for ira it's the last lullaby she sang to níniam to help him sleep. karma doesn't have any in a modern au, both have We Don't Talk About Bruno stuck in their head (yes, still. it's sadaf's favorite movie.)

Last thing they googled: there's no internet in canon. in a modern au, both are searches about ties (sher's birthday is coming up. ira's search is "funny ties lion")

Time: in the last updated chapter it's beginning of june, last translated chapter is midnight around mid july(?

Dream trip: ira doesn't know much about the world beyond Ila (the island they live in), and she also doesn't care much about it. also she can't leave the island (she's connected to her) so, there's that. karma would like to see a train someday.

Last thing they read: ira barely knows the alphabet. last thing karma read in canon is a report.

Last book they enjoyed reading: Myths and Legends of the Sea for Karma.

Favorite thing to cook/bake: neither have really cooked in their lives. ira didn't have the resources to do so, and karma's a prince that barely remembers to eat

Favorite thing to do in their free time: ira loves walking in high places, handing downwards from ruins and spending time with níniam. karma won't allow himself to have free time :)

Most niche dislike: ira hates the word "cautious". karma dislikes sher. a lot.

Opinion on circuses: ira doesn't know that's a thing, karma probably read about them once but didn't see the appeal.

Do they have any sense of direction?: ira? yes of course. karma? not at all.

púlsar headcanon 2020 lockdown edition

(idk how this happened. anyways enjoy a lockdown headcanon in the year of our lord 2022 almost 2023)

the gang plays among us

of course they do

ira and garvan already played before lockdown started but everyone joins after their baking supplies disappear in two weeks

the most reticent to join is sher. but because he's a fun dad and ádil really, really likes playing, he joins the call

it doesn't go well for him

ira always kills him first (or second if she sees garvan before him). karma will vote him on principle every single time no matter what. (well, except when sher plays with ádil. you can't vote the kid out). every time the vote is between another person and him he gets voted out. he's just too good of a liar AND at debating. he stood no chance. his words fall on deaf ears

he's a decent crew. ádil loves doing tasks so they always finish first. on the rare occasions when they listen to him he's able to sus out karma and sahare

emhi's a great detective. does 0 tasks because she's too busy going around fishing for info. she's also the best at venting as an impostor. once she managed to kill everyone but 1 player in the first round by luring people into reactor. (that 1 player was sher and yes it was ira's kill)

speaking of ira. she and garvan get competitive, even when they play with the kids. ádil gets a pass because he's ádil, but everyone else? ruthless. no mercy. (ira does hesitate to kill níniam and jhai but will do it if it assures her win). they always kill each other on sight no matter what. once the rest agreed to kill them with impunity/ to vote them out at the first meeting to play a decent game for an afternoon

after that they calm down a bit (they still kill each other on sight)

as a crew ira sucks. does her tasks when she feels like it and mostly trolls the rest being sus for the funs

áine won't play but she does watch emhi and helps her sus out the impostors from time to time. karma hates it because she always gets him

as for karma, he surprisingly wins a lot as impostor? ira won't vote for him and will gladly third impostor for him. sher also won't vote for him. he's not good at the killing and he often gets carried, but when the voting is between him and someone else he always wins. he's karma he can't lie for his life of course it wasn't him (he was, in fact, the imposter. he didn't kill or anything so he was saying the truth) he hides in vents and sabotages a lot

great as crew because he remembers where everyone was and the tasks they said they did. when ira plays seriously he always knows when she's the impostor but doesn't say anything most of the time (only when he plays with jhai) (ira forgives him for his betrayal, because, well, jhai)

garvan is decent both as crew and impostor. unstoppable when he's teamed up with emhi. sibling synergy or whatever. refuses to do long tasks

and finally sahare, who has the most wins under her belt. she plays casually, kills when needed, good at not getting voted out and at doing her tasks and fixing sabotages. loses on purpose to let ádil and sher win probably

as for the kids, they just have fun. kill on sight, forget to do their tasks and instead run around following people (not ádil, ádil is very serious about his tasks). they like watching in general because uncle garvan and ira are fun to watch.

jhai likes to scare people using vents. níniam (who's like 18 in here but I still call a kid because he's stuck at ten for me) joins when his schoolwork allows him to. they let him win because tired tortured collage student privileges (it drives sadaf mad even if she doesn't play and only watches)

15. How often does your OC “zone out” or do things on autopilot and how severe have the problems that have arisen from that been?

sirio is a secondary character from project:nemesis. he's not really prone to zoning out, honestly. he's a live in the moment kind of teen, always doing something and never shutting up. which compliments Ceres and Marte nicely, as they are very quiet people.

as for doing things on autopilot while on a job… he has caused problems more than once. he struggles with changes on their carefully laid out plan of action, more so if they did drills before going on a mission. muscle memory and all that. he does eventually get used to it.

the problems that arise from that range from "oh silly me we had to go left not right we lost 5 seconds" to "our cover has been blown, and now they are shooting at us and Enzo is still trying to open the damn gate"
