Freya and Sybil play a talkative game of Kicky Bag before the Squire's daughter departs for home. Luckily, Avis Fairburne quickly attaches to Sybil's side.

There were many things that are unusual to find in the small wood in Veonia, Freya Landvik is one of them. The beautiful, well dressed gentry girl was the eldest daughter of the Squire.

Freya: "Oh miss! I don't wish to be rude but you must tell me how you've grown your hair so long. It's gorgeous! And your skin, I've never seen a peasant with such clearness as you have. No offense of course!"

Sybil had never been admired in this way before, let alone admired by a girl who was three stations above her! The flattery turned into something much more desirable, a position in the Squire's manor.

Freya: "Our current help is elderly, I'm positive my father would hire you! It'd be lots of cleaning and cooking to help out, but most importantly you could be my Lady's maid!"
