volume 2 babeyyy!!!!! i’ve decided to move this to every other monday so it gives me more time to actually do things (if you haven’t picked up on it, i have the attention span of a dead gnat and don’t often have the desire to do anything except pace around my living room and daydream 😭) the last 2 weeks have been pretty busy for me so unfortunately this one’s gonna be real short.

nothing interesting in the anime category this time 😔 my sister and i decided on a system where we put everything we wanna watch on a playlist and watch 2 episodes of one, watch 2 of the next show on the playlist, so on and so forth and just repeat the process til with finish the playlist (which is a whole 4 days long ��). my peanut brain can’t focus on the same thing for too long so it worked out pretty well for us,,, until our dad decided to haul my sister all the way across the country on a 3 week camping trip. she won’t be back til the 11th so i gotta wait til she gets home to pick things back up 🥲

aside from that i have not watched anything else cuz i don’t have the patience!!!!

I read the first 3 volumes and what the hell 😭 it’s pretty good so far but holy shit it is WILD. The plot itself is weird as hell ngl, but it’s otherwise pretty enjoyable. Don’t really care for the romance aspect, but I love how insane the yokai designs are and sheer amount of crustacean themed creatures. I’ll def read more since Nessie was just coming in where i left off. Will also def watch the anime cuz i wanna see what they do with the crazy ass fight scenes between the aliens and yokai.

I went to the bookstore the other day and got new physical books :3 one of them was Dorohedoro, which i’ve been wanted to read for a long while now so i think i will read this soon

I really wanna read this one soon. That is all

I got this game the other day and HOLY SHIT???? The jet set radio inspiration has me on my KNEES. Jet set radio is my favorite game and THIS FUCKING GAME IS COMING FOR ITS PLACE IN MY HEART. IT IS SO FUN OMG

Hopefully this’ll be longer next time! Didn’t have much motivation to do this today :P

Fluffy hotcakes

Take as many eggs as you want, depends on how much you wanna make. Separate whites from yolks. I do this by hand bc its so much easier (and satisfying) to just roll the yolks a lil bit in my palms and then wash my hands. Also they get separated so much better. I see so many baking videos and shit where theres still white on the yolks and it drives me insane.

Leave the whites for later and whisk up those yolks. Add as much vegetable oil as it will need to double the volume. Like if you got a cup of egg yolks add a cup of oil. Dont be stingy with that shit. This is for shitty and old pans. It will save your pans. It also adds moisture to the mix so like even if you got those fancy expensive non stick pans, the oil goes in anyway.

Add the same exact amount of sugar. It doesnt really matter if its white or brown sugar. Sugar is sugar in this house. If its sweet, pour it in babeyyy. (Powdered sugar dont work tho, that shit got starch in it, will fuck up the batter).

Choose your milk. Any milk works. (Yes, breastmilk too, if thats what you want). This recipe has eggs so it aint vegan but it Can be Lactose Free. I use vegetable milk or lactose free milk for everything bc i dont like shitting myself, thank you very much.

Start sifting in three times as much flour. This is a 1:1:1:3:3 ratio, folks. One cup of yolks? One cup of oil, one cup of sugar, three cups of flour, three cups of milk. Im making up the measurements as i write. I dont measure shit when i do this, this is for your convinience, not mine.

Whisk up that flour in small increments to avoid clumps and add your milk as you go. Cup of flour, whisk, cup of milk, whisk, cup of flour, you get the gist.

Leave it to rest. Get those whites back and whisk them up till they form peaks. We're making sugarless meringue. Dont do the bowl upside down trick, its the sugar that makes that not slide right off the bowl, check if it stays on the whisk. If you wack if against the bowl and some of it stays stuck youre good. If theres still some liquidy shit on the bowl keep going. Its gotta be all foamy.

Check the batter, tt should be thicc but it should fall easily from the whisk when you get it out. Kinda like glue. Imagine you're whisking up glue and how slow it wouod fall from your whisk but wouldnt be stuck in it. Thats how its gotta be babes.

Wash your whisk and put it away you dont need it anymore. With a laddle nudge the whites into the batter and softy fold it in.

Once mixed youre ready to start laddling up into your pan. Dont move that shit, let it fluff up and once it stops bubbling use a spatula to flip it over.

Happy Birthday Riddle Rosehearts 🌹🌹🌹

No, I'm not late. I didn’t get caught up in Enstars. I didn’t forget to write this. I am also ignoring the characters I missed until their birthdays roll around again. also am not upset that i don't have his first bday outfit. Got his union thoooo ayyyy~

So I already knew I would love Riddle when I started playing. I'm not even a Wonderland fan (Neverland all the way babeyyy) but that lil tomato makes me tingly inside. What can I say? He's small in size but big in taste!

And have yall seen prototype!Riddle??? Uhm?!?!? Hello?!?!?!?! Can I have both?!?!?!?

Let's get to it.

So what has changed about the tiny tyrant? He was the first chapter and he ushered in the series with his Mommy issues. He's the best foot forward. I'm serious. Chapter 1 is solid compared to the others. It's my favorite chapter (1,6,3,4,5,2) and everyone sets the setting well.

I think he's also up there on the most substantial change in characterization. While he's still got a stick in his ass, it's not as deep. He's showing more of his empathetic side and putting forth patience that the QOH isn't known for. A good queen must be fierce, but she also is fair in her deliverance of justice. She tends to her subjects and holds them to reasonable standards. Well, I at least think so. He's a palatable leader.

Something I've started to notice about Riddle is that he's naive. But his naivety also gives him courage? While he has been sheltered most of his life, Riddle is sure of his skills. He's willing to fight Malleus if the fairy ever tries to come for his spot. Now, if he would win is not the point. The fact that this little boy is willing to say it to Mal on his birthday speaks volumes. He would probably lose if he challenged him as is. That's his naivety/confidence. Now, if it was like, after a year or something, he would go down swinging for sure. That's his talent and skill. He's also interested in the duel being a learning experience which is a mature way of viewing a dorm leader battle. I would say every battle is an exp but the stakes are meaningful in a leader duel.

Speaking of which, it's cute that he would go there. Sure, it's to balance out the other picks, but Riddle would flourish in Diasomnia. He's packing a lot of power despite his size and if he learned how to keep his temper on lock, god. He'd be a big deal. Also he's good at fire magic for some reason like, is he an arsonist in training? Also the rose thorn motif on him sounds kinda hot. His OB uses thorns soooo.

Uhm, let's talk about his pick for a brother.

You know…he's probably hiding the real reason why he wants Jade. Think about it. Riddle is the one who told Trey how Jade controls everything. Riddle shares a homeroom with Jade. He experiences him as much as he sees Silver and Sebek (maybe more depending on when they meet for clubs). He's right that Jade is seemingly polite and seemingly compliant with rules and shit. He's surreptitious with his power. That's what makes him efficient and dangerous. Riddle wants someone like that on his side. That's what he's not telling Azul. Hell, Riddle even admits that he's not fond of Jade's other traits.

As his younger brother amuses me too. His naivety is at work. I'm an only child but younger siblings won't always listen to you. Jade's too independent for any of that. He could probably be a better big brother since he steps back when he knows someone's gotta learn a lesson. Jade gently tried to offer to nip the Leona issue in the bud in chap 3. Azul foolishly barreled forward with his plans regardless. Azul fucked up and Jade knew it. So he let his bestie learn. So in Riddle's case, Jade would be a better older brother than little (bc Jade will deprogram his naivety). But I think he's got a better option for a little brother: Epel.

I was torn between him or Jack but I think Epel could benefit from Riddle's brand of micromanagement. Vil is strict, but Epel doesn't listen to Vil bc as we saw in chap 5, he was out to fix Epel. Vil does care and wants Epel to grow but the ulterior motives muddied their relationship. With Riddle, they both get to have a brother. Plus, size matters. A lot. Riddle, as I said before, is small but a powerhouse. From their interactions and voice lines, they seem fond of each other. Riddle is firm and he will get Epel to show more formality and respect but since he's the same height as him, Epel will be more receptive to what he has to say. And notice how Riddle always tells people to speak loudly and be 💯 instead of mumbling? That trait needs to be preserved in Epel.

Riddle wants to do good and be a good mentor to his peers (imma talk about his career goals in a sec) so if Epel were to be taken under his wing, they would be fond of each other while also seeing Epel reach new heights that wouldn't be impeded by negative relationships. Plus Riddle is a little feminine (bc he emulates a queen too) so Epel will still unlearn toxic masculinity.

Okay, so Riddle wants to be a doctor. A doctor. That's…unexpected. Well, not entirely. He has a classic doctor tiger mom (more on that later I promise) so I can see this being a "carry the legacy" type of thing. But as we can see, Riddle is clearly great with students.

In his element, Riddle can educate upperclassmen as well as underclassmen. He's extremely smart and I think helping people in an educational setting is significantly more beneficial to his potential. Professor Rosehearts sounds super hot. He's firm yet gentle, and when he asks you to see him after class, you've got butterflies. He's handsome and when he talks, you're hooked on every word. You know he's scolding you for being so scatterbrained and distracted, but you can't help it. You're in love with him even though you know he wouldn't regret it if he would just take you and pin you to his desk-

So Riddle's mom is pretty…rough. I see people making jokes about her, usually projecting their own mama onto her. I personally think Riddle's mom wanted him, as in, he was a planned pregnancy. It only makes sense that they would only want one and then go to painstaking lengths to raise him "right". But unfortunately parenting is trial and error. I'm curious about how their family life has changed since he’s around other kids. I'm assuming he was homeschooled? Do we have any information on that? Anyway, school is usually when kids start finding their own identity and I wish we could get updates on how the OB gang is doing in specific areas where they were struggling. Since Twst is overloaded with characters, you gotta do your research on them rather than get main story satisfaction.

So what do I want for Riddle going forward? I unno, he's perfect. And I stand behind that. He's working on himself and that's all I can ask for any of these characters. Each of them are sentimental to somebody in the fandom and as long as they continue to mature and develop through the series, I'm content. So to round out the last of the birthdays with the one who started it all,

👑 Reviewing crown emojis as someone who is very gay for crowns! 👑

Apologies for weird formatting I just wanted to include as many emojis as I could but Tumblr had a ten image limit </3 also idc that this is my hermitblr actually because it is also my main so y'all will have to suffer

Apple - 3/10. The shading is awful, giving the crown an ugly coloration. It's undecorated and the "gems" in it are 100% plastic, if not just some candy.

Google - 4/10 not much to say here, the shading is still incorrect and makes the crown look rounded?? Like it has no hard edges? Still pretty bland but it has confident proportions. Plausible

Samsung - 4/10. It's more like it, with the colors being pretty nice this time (purple and blue is good combination), but shape-wise it's just boring and the gems are still fake.

Microsoft - 6/10! Now that's a bold crown. It radiates the royal confidence it needs to convey. A bit too flat but if you take the style into account it's not bad. Looks actually cool

WhatsApp - 8/10. It's so elegant, I am weak. Absolutely in LOVE with those gems, they look so real and well-encrusted. These won't fall out at the nearest opportunity. The slight curve to the shape is driving me awooga. I just wish it was shinier and more ornamented.

Twitter - 5/10. Big boy. Loving the seven spikes shape instead of the overused five. The gems have no shine though. It's like they're painted onto. Considering the extreme simplification that this style brings, it's actually pretty decorated. Overall though, flat and unwearable.

Facebook - 12/10!!!!!!!! it is absolutely GORGEOUS in every way!!! The big gem shape is so readable, it's very detailed and the shine is a complete and definite win in my book. Perfect. Marvelous. Powerful. Intricate.

Skype - 4/10. What were they even trying to achieve here? It's just... lacking any sort of personality. It's dull. Recognizable as a crown at least.

JoyPixels - 7/10. The shine is attractive and I am loving the diamond shaped gems and the curve, but... please.... that is a jester cap, not a crown. It's gonna dangle if I wear it.

OpenMoji - 0/10 it's a bad paper cutout in the vague shape of a crown. What the fuck is going on with these cut-off semicircles.

Emojidex - 1000000000000/10 I AM ON THE FLOOR BABEYYY. THE POWER IT RADIATES. YOU SEE THIS SHIT IN MUSEUMS. THE SHINE AND THE DETAILING. MY STANDARDS WERE LOW BUT THIS CROWN ALONE BROUGHT THEM BACK UP HIGH. KING SHIT RIGHT HERE. THE BEST CROWN EMOJI I'VE EVER SEEN. STANDING OVATION.

Messenger - 1/10 WHAT is going on here?????? Is it just me or is it asymmetrical?? That is not a real crown. Looks like something a middleschooler doodled in 3D Paint.

LG - 0/10. Put it out of its misery.

HTC - 6/10 okay but I think the flat style actually works really well for this one. I like how angular it is. However, it is absolutely not wearable, regardless what size and fit you make it.

Mozilla - 9/10 oh BABY are you free tonight?? That is the cutest crown ever oh my gosh look at its pink little gems!! The little club shapes!!!! It's flat sure but just look at it, it just works so well here!!

SoftBank - 6/10 honestly quite pretty, but it just... Has some weirdness in it. What is that lighter stripe, a different gold?? Who stole half the gems? It tries to show its volume by that curve on the bottom and the shine of the metal but it fails because the rest of the crown is still absolutely 2D.

You got quite a few of mine

1. in terms of importance to me, the fireplace photo really uhhhhh. yeah it got me.

first up is the fact it was posted at the beginning of national coming out day, october 11. like for them, i guess, since the timing matched up for filming for rust so i presume it was MST, it was still october 10. however mollins was in new england that weekend so by EST, they posted just after midnight [i think, or close to it. we’ve had a daylight savings thing between then, but regardless, i’m counting this]

and then there’s the photo itself. dee literally tagged mollins over j’s heart an that was DISGUSTAN amazing. and she didn’t have to tag him there. when mollins reposted to his account he tagged dee off to the side a lil bit, more over the fire [coz she’s hot, duh] and j just kinda.... where he was.

and then there’s just the sensual vibe of the thing? in front of a fireplace, jacket undone at the sleeves and neck which is i think also the style but still, fingers in the mouth, hair in front of the eyes —

and then the straight up fact that his book was broken in. i remember everyone who had the book by then trying to recreate holding it and having the pages fall open with that, and even those with larger hands closer to his couldn’t get it to fall open like that. it was clearly a book that’s been used.

idk how publishing works, idk how far in advance he’d have had a copy, but regardless, it also doesn’t change the fact that dee and j posted a week or so before everyone else, or at least by a couple of days. they were the first ones to promote it.

the whole post was a declaration of love to whatever degree you want to view it as [platonic, romantic, whatever].

also — i’m not a clothing expert, i don’t have a catalogue of what j has worn over the years, but the bracelet in the photo [not the normal beaded one but the metal one] stood out to me, almost like it was on display.

the photo is insane to me.

Okay so

2. Whatever the fuck this was at DenCon

like, i giffed a whole face journey of j’s face when mollins was talking at least in the beginning of the panel. you can see it here but here are some highlights [including that gif up ^ there where he just is like SUP BABEYYY and the gif cuts off before it happens but he does a up and down with his eyes].

He has the Mollins face on that whole time. The face he only makes when mollins is on stage, talking, doing whatever. It’s a common face to see when they’re on stage together and it’s RIDICULOUS. This face like... doesn’t go away.

3. Gish Panel

This whole thing was... again... DISGOSTAN [in the best way]

If you watch it, the like... the tone, the choice of words etc etc etc VERY MUCH felt like two people trying not to give the ball away that indeed they have been talking frequently for the past year.

The biggest giveaway for me was mollins feigning ignorance on RC’s volume 2, since we already knew he knew about it.

The camping language dropped. ojai this, santa barbara that, etc etc. it was literally just a panel of two people trying to restrain themselves from not being embaressments to each other in the best way possible. I can’t find the proper words to describe how that lil panel video makes me smile.

4. Poetry Video

This is way more speculative, so it’s more like a speculative moment but it was a fun speculative moment. I’m a firm believer of j being in the poetry reading video from mollins at the end of september. look at this gif:

watch his eyes, he looks off the camera but very slightly at the end of the video, also in the middle but that’s more of his dramatic pause than anything, but the end of this video is very SUS to me.

look at his face here, and then look at this:

two panels, a scene in the show, and the poetry video.

three out of four of these photos we know who he’s looking at. the 4th one we don’t. but, i feel like with comparisons at hand [and these are just three out of many] i like to speculate who he was looking at here and if it wasn’t j it was someone he holds in the same regard [but i like to think it was j because they have Faces TM for each other. it’s very gross].

5. All The Cons

This is really like — kind of a cop out but not really.

mostly, it’s easy to assume all is not well in paradise since one of their marraiges kind of fell through and all that and the fact that they don’t share a set anymore, etc etc, so there’s a belief that oh maybe they took a step back.

which, i don’t think so, because i think it’s just the fact we don’t see as much anymore. but regardless, all that to say that any doubt that may have seeped into my rotted brain by this point was instantly shattered by the time the cons came around.

creation cons suck, they’re like. i mean they don’t suck but they also suck. they’re so bro heavy, don’t let j2 interact with anyone else, and mollins is kept separated too. they are stale cons with no new dynamics or anything added to the mix which unfortunately meant that we rarely if ever get a cockles panel.

however what i get out of these cons are the op stories and the auto stories.

so when you have things like the dencon panel crash and all of that nonsense, the “easy” said by j when asked to look at mollins Like That TM, the answer mollins gave at a panel about wedding vows, i can’t remember the wording, but it devolved into talking about j instead of their fictional characters, the “why, I live it,” comment from j when someone told him where he could by jackie d’s art, the paparazzi shot comment as well — things just keep getting turned from destiel into cockles BY THEM. BY THEMMM.

and then just the stories from the op line of them being gross together inside the room between photos it’s like — idk. i LIVE for these stories. and while creation cons annoy the hell out of me, i also know that if cockles was 1) uncomfortable or 2) uncomfortable with each other, they wouldn’t be making those comments.

I thought it would be fun if we all collected our top 5 cockles moments of the year. It’s so difficult to choose! There has been a surprising amount considering spn has been over for a while and cons only started up again in the end of the year.

This list is purely subjective and in chronological order. :D Here goes!

Mish.Dee.

Just a couple of pixels, but so heartfelt. ❤️ By lumping them together with the endearing short forms of their names, it’s clear in which category they both reside. :D

Blankygate

All hell broke loose when Misha sent a picture of himself looking sad in “Jensen’s guest bedroom”, prompting cockles fandom to release the info that they had been living together from at least 2017.

Babe

In the summer the gish zoom was all sorts of chaos when Jensen got the times wrong and was there for the opening ceremony instead of a later panel. Cuteness ensued and then Jensen signed off calling Misha “babe”. Oop! Berto’s reaction is the real gem here.

Angel Plushie

All of DenCon 2021 was amazing with them crashing each others’ panels, disappearing off stage together and just grinning at each other with faces lit up like christmas trees! Angel plushie gets a honourable mention however, because they both just volunteered detailed information on how they were hugging the previous night (thanks), plus the tooth-rottingly sweet term of endearment “angel plushie”. ❤️

I live it.

Jensen being more open with destiel has been one of my fav things of 2021. :D But this was especially great because when thumbing through a Destiel art book (his choice) and being asked whether he wanted prints as he stopped on a Destiel kiss drawing, he said “Why? I live it.” Excellent. 🤝

I mean the year isn’t over yet, so I’m prepared to have this whole list overthrown. This is a challenge, cockles! 😂
