Meet the mods for the “If You Need Me” Voltron Whump & Hurt/Comfort zine:

KAT | Head Organiser | @cgf-kat

I'm Kat, she/her, head/founding Mod of this zine and longtime whump and H/C writer. I'm currently writing for two other Voltron zines, and I work in graphic design and marketing for a living which involves writing, editing, file formatting, graphic design, and printing among other things. I've written for fandom zines and events since Stargate SG-1 was a big deal more than a decade ago, though this is my first time as a mod and I'm thankful to have such a great team of people who have volunteered to be on this mod team with me! I'm Brii, she/they, you can find me over at @shirosquared on Tumblr and AO3, and I'm a big Shiro stan. I've modded plenty of other zines before such as the Plance zine (@plance-zine), the Fun Sentry zine (@funsentryzine), the  Oversound zine (@oversoundvoltronzine), as well as other events such as the Sheith Flower Exchange (@sheithbouquet).

I'm Maya, she/her, I'm a mod, I can be found on most social media as @lordzarcock, and I'm obsessed with voltron events! You can probably find me around the fandom modding or participating in many events.

I’m Nycto, she/her. You can find me at @nyctolovian on AO3 and tumblr. I’m weak for siblings and Team Voltron Family so that’s a sure way to make me cry. I’m also a mod of the Oversound zine (@oversoundvoltronzine). I haven’t had a lot of modding experience but I’m always ready to learn!

I’m Lottie, she/her, you can find me on Tumblr as @lotterpops-peachy and on Instagram, RedBubble and YouTube as lotterpops. This is my first time being a mod and my first time participating in a zine. I love Voltron, Lance is a personal favorite of mine. Even though I haven’t had much experience, I’m eager to learn and help as much as I can.

All the mods are prepared to take on this project, and create a beautiful, well-organized zine, full of talented contributors. And to promote more Whump & H/C content, of course.

As you may have seen, I ended up needing to purchase some additional copies of "A Collection of Langst Volume Three" after the postal service unfortunately lost a copy in transit. Also unfortunate, the price per book for a single reprint copy was insane and to help lower it somewhat I purchased a total of 3 additional copies.

Those 3 copies There is 1 copy left now of the Langst zine and 1 copy left of My Favorite Toy available in my bookshop. The zines contain the exclusive platonic Klance fic Caged Nightmare, with the trope of 'locked in a cage' for Lance.

💜 ZINE UPDATE

Hello guys! It's been a while... let us spend some words on what happened since our last post and what is going on now!

A lot happened in the past few months, starting with radical changes in the mod team that ended up causing organizational difficulties and slowed down the progress of the zine quite a bit. We deeply apologize for that. However, this doesn't mean we're going to drop the zine!!! We all care deeply for this project and are not willing to let it go that easily! So... what happens next?

EXCITING NEWS AHEAD There'll soon be a certain announcement post (👀), followed by the contributors announcements! We're so proud of our team and can't wait to introduce everyone! And after that, stay tuned for PREORDERS finally opening!!! The new opening date is AUGUST 1, mark your calendars ✨

Fic Preview: Caged Nightmare (Langst Zine Exclusive Fic)

Our zine exclusive fic of Lance + Locked in a Cage at 5,500 words is complete! You’ll want to purchase a copy of “A Collection of Langst Volume Three” from my bookstore if you are interested in reading this fanfiction :)

Orders for the 1 Week Last Chance Book Drive event close on Monday, January 4 at 8pm CST. As a reminder, this story will not be publishing on my AO3.

Summary: The cage is far, far too small to fit Lance, but the Galrans still force him into it. He’s then loaded like a piece of cargo on a ship bound for a cruel, painful destination and the journey to get there is just as harsh. As Lance floats in and out of consciousness over the days he comes to the conclusion that he’s dreaming when Keith of all people appears in the cargo hold (on a ship in the middle of space) to rescue him. But maybe that’s because it’s no dream at all. It has to be a nightmare because there is nothing crueler than false hope like this. But it seems so real and maybe… maybe he’s not dreaming after all.

Story snippet:

Something was there.

It was making soft tapping noises.

Feet.

Footsteps.

But the cargo hold was still pitch dark which meant they hadn’t landed which meant it wasn’t the Galrans which meant something else was there and Dios what was in here with him what was it going to do what was—

The sounds grew louder.

Closer.

Lance moaned low in the back of his throat.

The sounds immediately stopped.

And oh no.

Oh no no.

He’d just alerted whatever it was that he was in here too.

And, and now it was going to…

Lance didn’t want to go to the commander to be tortured to death but…

But he was less terrified of that than being eaten alive.

He doubted the cage would protect him.

He let out another low sob at the very thought.

Dangerous.

Not dangerous.

What was the cage, exactly?

The sounds started up again, quicker.

Closer.

Would it be quick?

Would it hurt?

Would—

“Lance?”

The sound — his name, that was his name — was accompanied by a flare of light and Lance may have screamed as it seared  against his eyes, closed as they were, and that was followed by a “holy fuck!” and the light shut off just as fast.

But as much as the sudden light had hurt, Lance ignored that pain.

Because he knew that voice.

And it didn’t belong to some creature of darkness and nightmares.

Although certain hairstyles could be considered a nightmare.

Lance let out a sound between a sob and a laugh that hurt both his body and his throat and made his head pound but he didn’t care.

Because somehow, against all the insane odds, he was being rescued.

He was being rescued by Keith.

New Fic: A Game Called Blood and Bones

A Game Called Blood and Bones

Summary: 

“You need someone to deliver your message and get the money, right?” Lance asked. “And someone to stay as your hostage?” He swallowed, eyes darting to Pidge. “Take… take me instead.” The alien captain stared. And then he threw back his head and laughed. “You?” he came down from his mirth. “Why would we want you when we have her?” “Because,” Lance kept his voice even. “I’ll… I’ll tell you all I know about the Blades. And, and the Coalition. Information goes for a lot, doesn’t it?”

Except… Lance doesn’t know any actual valuable information. And the aliens are not happy about that. Not happy at all.

Story snippet:

“Now,” the knife brushed against his throat and Beard loomed over him once more, blurry this time through reflexive tears that lined Lance’s eyes. “Let’s try this again.”

Lance didn’t dare nod and even as he swallowed he felt the knife prick his throat.

“Okay,” he whispered.

The knife lifted away.

“So, so the Blades of Marmora…”

His fingers curled into his palms, nails digging into his flesh.

He tried to brace himself.

“They’re made up of Galrans.”

Silence echoed.

Lance said nothing more.

He did scream though as the knife impaled his other thigh.

“Think you’re funny,” Beard hissed, twisting the knife in a circle and Lance jerked and trembled and oh Dios oh Dios it hurt, “ huh? Think you’re a smart guy?”

“Pretty sure he’s stupid,” came the same voice from before.

“Tell me, loverboy,” more spittle hit his cheek. “Do you know anything?”

“Most Galrans are, are purple,” Lance managed. “But they come in other col—”
