It’s gotten to the point that I’m getting homework assigned to improve my serve…
#I cannot for the life of me get an overhand serve to work#and it’s so frustrating!!#I wanna practice but at the same time usually it means someone won’t get a serve to receive cause it’ll be shitty#and I don’t wanna do that#but today we had some time where we weren’t that many#so I was like okay today I’ll stick to it#and keep practicing#and fucking none of them came over the net ughh#my coach ended telling me to just do a few underhanded serves for a while to still get to receive smt#which was fine but also ugh#so after training he was like if you do this with a tennis ball you can practice the movement#which is very nice and I wanna do that but it’s wild that it has come to that#last time I practiced it I got two over the net out of like 15#but still that was something! I can do it sometimes#so like I will do it some day not all is lost#but it’s wild that such a simple movement doesn’t work for me#idk if it’s coordinating with the ball as well but it’s shitty#oh well I’ll try and find a tennis ball at home bc my coach wanted to bring me one#but I won’t be there next Monday and next Wednesday is cancelled#so I’ll try and find my own bc otherwise it’ll be a while#fingers crossed#I will get it one day! I’m making fucking sure of that#me#volley serve progress#I might come back to this post some day

coach as reader, nervous and attention-deprived art.
&. ART DONALDSON x yn.
you could sense that art was nervous just by witnessing his presence.
you could see it in the way his muscles kept tensing, in the way he kept chewing the same gum for half an hour and it would have certainly lost its taste by now, and in the way his tennis shoes kept tapping on the slippery floor of the locker room as if he was in the throes of a nervous tic.
you had been his personal coach for a while now -he begged for it- and his progress was surprisingly evident during the season's tournament.
there was to say that you were also his girlfriend, even if, lately, you refused to believe it was right to call yourself so.
despite everything, you were a coach who was paid by other high or inspiring tennis players at the foundations of the profession, and this meant that you had to show up at their tournaments and at their awards ceremonies as well.
a set of events and organizations that were meticulous or complicated to fit together, so you weren't surprised if you rarely saw art or if you barely managed to train him.
that day, he had prepared for a very important match, and unfortunately you hadn't been able to train him.
you had entrusted your boyfriend to another coach on campus, who was nevertheless capable and well informed on the work points that art had to satisfy.
at the same time, you couldn't know if during training he had kept his feet fast, his wrists down, or if he had made sure to not pull back too far before he hit the drop volley; and that made you feel horrible.
"baby...it'll be okay. you'll play amazingly." you put up a smile, sitting in front of him.
"oh yeah? that coach didn't even manage to improve my serve, to not talk about the return."
"c'on art...he's very good."
"not for me. i wanted you..." he pouted childishly, looking down.
"you know well i train other players."
"but...you had been barely around me..." he complained again, still looking at his soles nervously wearing themselves against the floor.
you got up just to put the last two rackets inside his bag and give it to him.
his expression didn't change one inch, he still looked exhausted and worn out.
you could perfectly tell that days without you had him limp and feeble.
"babe...hey, look at me."
you kneeled in front of his seat, kissing his bare knee as you waited for him to meet your gaze.
"mh?"
"you'll do amazing today. i'll be there watching and cheering for my talented boyfriend. i promise, after today's match we'll go to the hotel and spend time together. we can cuddle and watch films, and i won't go anywhere."
he seemed to hesitate a little.
"promised...?"
"promised."
your lips met in a soft and eager kiss.
as you pulled back, you fixed his blonde hair and rested one hand on his cheek.
you made sure he would spit his gum in your palm, before kissing him again and walking towards the stands to wait for the match.

you can hardly contain your excitement as you guide your family through the bustling crowds of the wimbledon grounds. today is the day your boyfriend is competing in the final against none other than novak djokovic. the atmosphere is electric, and the excitement is palpable.
you had invited your entire family, wanting to share this special moment of your life with them and your brothers, charles and arthur, are just as—if not more—thrilled thrilled than you, though their enthusiasm is more subdued. your oldest brother, lorenzo, and his girlfriend, charlotte, are chatting animatedly, while your mother walks beside you, her eyes wide with awe at the grandeur of it all.
"i stilll can't believe we're here," arthur says, glancing around with a grin. "watching carlos in the final. it's incredible."
"he's going to do great," charles adds, giving you a reassuring smile. "he's worked so hard for this."
"i know," you reply, feeling a surge of pride for your boyfriend. "he's been training non-stop. he deserves this."
as you make your way to your seats, you can't help but feel a rush of nerves. the stadium is enormous, and the crowd's energy is almost overwhelming, but having your family here with you calms you a bit.
you find your seats and settle in, your heart pounding with anticipation. the match begins, and the tension is palpable. djokovic is a formidable opponent, but carlos is playing with a determination you've never seen before.
every point is a battle, and the crowd is on the edge of their seats. you find yourself gripping charles' hand, almost breaking his fingers, but he doesn’t mind. he’s unable to look away from the court as well, finding the match as exciting as you. carlos is moving with such grace and power, each shot more impressive than the last.
"he's incredible," charlotte whispers, her eyes wide with admiration. "i've never seen anyone play like this.”
"he's got this," lorenzo says confidently, sensing your nervousness. "you can see it in his eyes."
as the match progresses, carlos begins to pull ahead. his serves are precise, his volleys unstoppable. the crowd erupts with cheers, and you can't help but join in, your heart swelling with pride.
when the final point is won, and carlos emerges victorious, the stadium explodes with applause. you jump to your feet, tears of joy streaming down your face. your family is cheering just as loudly, their pride evident in their faces.
carlos looks up into the stands, his eyes searching for you. when he sees you, his face lights up with a radiant smile. he lifts his racket in triumph, and you blow him a kiss, your heart just about to burst.
"he did it!" you exclaim, turning to hug your mother. "he really did it!"
"we knew he could," she replies, her voice filled with emotion. "he's an incredible player."
as the celebrations continue, you make your way down to the court. carlos is surrounded by reporters and fans, but when he sees you, he breaks away and runs to you, scooping you up in his arms.
"you were amazing," you say, your voice choked with emotion. "i'm so proud of you."
"i couldn't have done it without you," he replies, his eyes shining with love. "having you here, knowing you were watching . . . it made all the difference."
you kiss him, the world fading away as you lose yourself in the moment.
your family joins you quickly after, and carlos is soon enveloped in hugs and congratulations.
"you were fantastic, mate," charles says, clapping carlos on the back. "absolutely incredible."
"thank you," carlos replies, his smile never wavering. "it means a lot to have you all here."
the rest of the day is a blur of celebrations and happiness. you can hardly believe it's real, that carlos has won the wimbledon final. but as you stand by his side, surrounded by your family, you know that this is just the beginning.

Reader being jack’s sister and dating Jannik and having to see them both suffer
hi!!! i slightly tweaked your request--I decided to go with the reader being Jack's best friend instead--I hope it was alright with you 🫶🏼
The Inner Turmoil
wc: 5.1k
"Welcome to the US Open semifinal between Jack Draper and Jannik Sinner," the announcer's voice boomed through the packed stadium, and you couldn't help but feel a twinge of anxiety in your chest. You had a secret that no one else knew: you were dating Jannik, the stoic Italian with a fiery passion for the sport, but you were also Jack's best friend, the young Brit with the world at his racket strings.
The tension was palpable as the two men faced off across the net, each one's muscles coiled like springs, ready to unleash their power. You sat in the stands, your heart torn between your loyalty to your friend and your love for your partner. The crowd roared as they began to warm up, sending a shiver down your spine. You had been to countless tennis matches, but none had ever felt this personal, this intense.
Jack's eyes flicked up to the stands and found yours, a brief flash of camaraderie in the sea of faces. You gave him a reassuring smile, but it felt forced. You knew he was feeling the weight of the moment too. Jannik, on the other hand, remained focused, his eyes never straying from the ball as he practiced his serves. His concentration was unbreakable, a testament to the dedication that had brought him to this pinnacle of the sport.
The match began, and with it, the storm of emotions inside you grew. Every grunt, every smash, every bead of sweat that rolled down their faces was a silent scream echoing in your ears. You watched as Jack's forehand sliced through the air, a blur of power and precision that you had seen a thousand times before on the practice courts. Yet, today, it felt different. Today was a declaration of war against someone you cared for deeply.
Jannik returned the serve with an ease that was almost unnerving, his movements fluid and calculated. His eyes remained locked on the ball, a silent battle raging within him that you knew only too well. The crowd erupted into a frenzy of applause, a symphony of cheers and claps that washed over the court like a tidal wave. You felt a strange mix of pride and pain as you watched him move with the grace of a panther, his body a finely tuned machine honed to perfection.
You knew Jack was entering the match without having dropped a set, a clear sign of his dominance throughout the tournament. Yet, as the first game progressed, it was Jannik who drew first blood, serving an ace that left Jack staggering. You couldn't help but flinch as the ball whizzed past Jack's outstretched arm. The crowd's applause was thunderous, but it was the quiet nod of respect between the two players that spoke volumes.
Jack's face grew tight with determination, and he began to play with an intensity that could have powered a thousand bulbs. His shots grew more robust, his movements more agile, as he gave everything he had to match Jannik's relentless onslaught. You watched, your knuckles white as you gripped the armrests of your seat, feeling every point as if it were a personal victory or loss.
The match was a dance of power and finesse, a ballet of sweat and grunts, each volley a silent conversation between the two men you knew so intimately. The sun dipped lower in the sky, casting long shadows across the green expanse of the court, and the air grew thick with the scent of freshly cut grass and the faint tang of rubber.
As the first set progressed, you could feel the shift in momentum, a subtle tug-of-war that played out in the grunts and paces of the players. Jannik's serve remained unyielding, a thunderous force that had the crowd on the edge of their seats. But Jack was not one to be outdone. He had a fire in his eyes, a burning desire to prove himself against his friend and rival. His returns grew sharper, his volleys more precise, each point a testament to his unyielding spirit.
The rally grew longer, the ball a yellow comet streaking back and forth across the net. You could almost hear the whip of the strings as they connected, a rhythmic symphony of leather and gut that grew faster and more intense with every stroke. The crowd was on their feet now, a collective gasp escaping as Jannik lunged for a return that seemed impossible. His racket met the ball at the perfect angle, sending it spiraling into Jack's corner.
Jack dove, his body a blur of motion and desperation. The world seemed to slow as he stretched out his arm, his fingers brushing the line. The crowd held their breath, waiting for the umpire's call. "Out!" The word cut through the tension like a knife, and you felt a pang of disappointment for Jack, but also a surge of admiration for Jannik's unrelenting skill.
Jannik won the set, his fist pumping in the air, a silent roar escaping his lips. You watched as the two players walked to the net, slapping their rackets together in a show of respect that seemed almost forced. They knew the gravity of this moment, the unspoken understanding that friendship would take a backseat to ambition for the next few hours.
You couldn't help but notice how unusually pale and sweaty Jack was as he took his seat at the changeover. His eyes searched the crowd for a familiar face, and when they landed on you, he offered a weak smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. You knew that look—it was the look of someone who had given everything and was wondering if it was enough. You gave him a nod, a silent promise that you believed in him, and his shoulders squared slightly as he took a deep breath and turned back to the court.
Jannik, on the other hand, was a picture of calm. He wiped his face with a towel, took a sip of water, and leaned back in his chair, his eyes never leaving the horizon. You knew he was visualizing his next moves, planning his strategy for the second set. He had the upper hand, but he wasn't one to take his opponent lightly, especially not Jack.
\\\
As the players took their positions for the second set, the air was thick with anticipation. The setting sun painted the court in a warm, golden light that made the players' shadows stretch long across the lines. The ball was tossed, and the rally began anew, each point a battle that could swing the tide of the match.
You watched as Jack retched onto the court, his body trembling from exhaustion and the weight of the moment. The crowd fell silent, a collective gasp escaping their lips as they watched him try to mop it up with a towel, his cheeks flushed with embarrassment. Not soon after, you had to watch Jannik awkwardly land on his left wrist, the pain etched clearly across his face. It was a sight you never wanted to see, but you knew that in the cutthroat world of professional tennis, it was all too common.
The umpire called for a medical time out, and the silence in the stadium was deafening as physios rushed out to tend to both Jack and Jannik. You felt a knot tighten in your stomach as you watched them both struggle with their own private wars of pain and endurance. This wasn't just a match anymore—it was a test of their wills, a battle of bodies and minds.
Jack took a deep breath and nodded to the physio, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. He looked up at you, his eyes searching for reassurance, and you gave him a thumbs up, trying to infuse him with strength from across the court. Jannik kept stretching his left wrist--his non-dominant hand, thankfully--his face a mask of stoicism despite the apparent discomfort.
The physios retreated, and the match resumed, the tension in the air thick enough to slice with a knife. The second set resumed, each player fighting against their own limitations, pushing through pain you knew all too well from the countless hours you'd spent with them both, listening to their stories of perseverance and sacrifice.
Jack's serve was slower, the effort etched in every line of his face. Yet, there was a grit to him, a determination that was unyielding. He wasn't going to let this match slip away without a fight. His shots, though not as powerful as before, were strategic, aiming for Jannik's weaker side, testing the Italian's endurance.
Jannik, on the other hand, played with a newfound caution, his injured wrist a silent specter hovering over every shot. You could see the calculation in his eyes as he sized up Jack's condition, trying to gauge how much his opponent had left in the tank. His movements were deliberate, each step and swing a chess move in a high-stakes game of attrition.
The second set dragged on, both players refusing to give an inch. The tension grew so intense you could almost feel the strings on their rackets vibrating in your own chest. The crowd's whispers grew into a murmur, each point a delicate balancing act that could topple the scales in either direction. The air was heavy with the scent of sweat and determination, the thwack of the ball a rhythmic heartbeat that echoed through the stadium.
Jack's face was a canvas of emotions: pain, anger, and a stubborn refusal to quit. His every move was a silent battle cry, a declaration that he wouldn't go down without a fight. You knew him better than most—his spirit was unbreakable, his will unyielding. Yet, as you watched him wipe his forehead with the back of his hand, leaving a smear of sweat and dirt, you couldn't help but worry. His breaths grew ragged, his steps less confident.
Jannik's eyes remained cold and focused, his body a study in discipline and control. The injury was a setback, but he wasn't going to let it define him. His groundstrokes remained sharp, his backhand a weapon that could slice through the tension. The crowd, once a thunderous symphony of cheers and jeers, had grown hushed, almost reverent. They knew they were witnessing something special, something more than just a tennis match.
The second set saw a series of nail-biting games, each one more intense than the last. The score was tight, a tug of war with no clear winner in sight. You found yourself leaning forward in your seat, your heart in your throat, as you watched the two men you cared about most push each other to their breaking points. The sun had fully set now, and the stadium lights bathed the court in a cool, electric glow that made every bead of sweat sparkle like a diamond.
Jack's serve had lost some of its earlier ferocity, but he compensated with precision, placing his shots with a newfound accuracy that tested Jannik's reflexes. The Italian, however, was not to be outdone. He dug deep, his eyes burning with a competitive fire that seemed to light up the night. Each point was a battle, each set a war, and the prize was a place in the finals of the US Open.
The crowd was on the edge of their seats, their collective breath held tight in their chests as the two gladiators of the tennis world clashed repeatedly. You felt a strange detachment, as if you were watching two parts of yourself fight for supremacy. Your heart ached for Jack's suffering, and your spirit soared with Jannik's successes. Yet, in the quiet moments between points, when their eyes met across the net, you saw something more than rivalry—a bond forged through shared passion and respect.
Jack's eyes grew distant, his mind a whirlwind of pain and fatigue. You knew he was trying to find that one thing to cling to, that one thought to keep him going. And then, in a flash of inspiration, he did. He thought of you, his best friend, his confidant, the one who had seen him at his worst and still believed in him. His gaze found you in the stands, and you could see the resolve harden in his expression.
The match continued, a back-and-forth of power and finesse, each player giving it their all. Jannik's wrist was clearly bothering him, but he played through the pain, his shots a little less forceful but just as deadly. The crowd, once a sea of divided loyalties, was now united in awe of the sheer grit on display. The thwack of the ball was punctuated by the occasional grunt, the only sound in the otherwise silent stadium.
Jack's body was a canvas of sweat, his eyes never leaving the ball as he anticipated Jannik's next move. Each time he scored, a faint smile tugged at the corners of his lips, a silent nod to you and the unwavering belief you had in him. You watched, your own heart racing, as he leaned over and whispered something to his coach, a newfound strategy forming in his mind.
Jannik eventually took the second set, his victory a silent shout of triumph in the face of adversity. The stadium erupted into a cacophony of cheers and applause, but you couldn't help feeling a twinge of sadness for Jack. His eyes searched for yours again, and the look of determination in them was unmistakable. He wasn't done yet.
\\\
As the players switched sides for the third set, you took a deep breath, trying to compose yourself. You knew what was coming—a final act of this epic showdown that would test the limits of their friendship and their bodies. The air was thick with the scent of burning desire and the metallic tang of effort.
Jack's serve was weaker than ever, but his volleys had a newfound precision that had the crowd murmuring in amazement. His legs, once a blur of motion, now moved with the deliberate grace of a ballet dancer, each step calculated to conserve energy. His eyes, though weary, held a fierce determination that mirrored Jannik's own.
The third set was a tug-of-war of the soul, each point a battle that could swing the match. You watched as Jannik's grip tightened on his racket, his teeth grinding with the effort of keeping his injured wrist steady. His serves were now a strategic dance of power and placement, each one a silent challenge to Jack's resilience.
Jack, on the other hand, was a picture of dogged persistence. His body language spoke volumes of the pain he was in, but his eyes never wavered. Every point he won was a victory not just for him, but for the friendship that had brought them here. The crowd was now a blur of faces, their cheers and gasps a symphony of anticipation and dread that played out in your heart.
The match stretched on, the scoreboard a silent judge that ticked away with each passing minute. The third set grew tighter, the points more intense, as Jannik and Jack pushed each other to the very brink of their abilities. You sat, your heart in your throat, as Jack stumbled but never fell, his spirit a roaring flame that seemed to grow with every challenge.
In the stands, you felt the weight of the world on your shoulders, the tension between your allegiances to your partner and your friend a palpable force. Each time the ball flew over the net, you felt your stomach drop, your nails digging into the armrest. You knew you had to stay strong, had to be there for both of them, no matter the outcome.
The third set grew into a marathon of wills, a test of endurance with even the most stoic fans leaning forward in their seats. The night grew cooler, the air thick with the scent of the city that never sleeps, a stark contrast to the serene battle being waged on the brightly lit court. You could see the beads of sweat rolling down their faces, the tremble in their legs as they sprinted back and forth.
You watched as Jack asked for a can of Coke, his voice barely audible over the din of the crowd. The umpire nodded, and a ball boy rushed to fetch it. As Jack took a sip, his eyes never leaving the court, you could see the gears turning in his mind. The third set was his chance to turn the tide, to show that he wasn't just a contender, but a champion in the making.
Jannik took his place at the baseline, his expression unreadable. He bounced the ball once, twice, then served. The ball soared through the air, a yellow streak that seemed to hang in the air for an eternity before it smacked against Jack's racket. The crowd held their breath as Jack sent it back, a shot so precise it was like he had drawn a line with a laser. The rally continued, each player pushing themselves to the edge of their physical and mental limits.
"Game, set, match, Sinner!" The umpire's voice rang out through the stadium, and you felt your heart drop like a lead weight. Jannik had won the third set, the match, and with it, a spot in the finals. The crowd erupted into a mix of cheers and groans, but the sound was muffled by the rush of blood in your ears. You watched as Jannik dropped his racket and let out a roar of victory, his fists pumping the air as he took in the moment.
Jack, on the other hand, stood still, his shoulders slumped. The fight had drained from his eyes, leaving only a haunted look of defeat. He leaned over, hands on his knees, trying to catch his breath. You knew he was hurting—not just from the loss, but from the sheer physical toll the match had taken on him.
As the players met at the net to shake hands, you felt a strange mix of pride and sadness. Jannik's eyes searched the crowd until they found yours, a look of both triumph and apology. You gave him a slight nod, understanding the price of victory. Jack's handshake was firm, his grip a silent testament to the respect he had for his good friend and rival.
The two men parted ways, Jannik jogging to his chair to celebrate with his team while Jack made his way to the locker room, his head down, lost in his own thoughts. You remained in your seat, the world around you a blur as you processed the emotional rollercoaster you had just witnessed. The applause felt distant, the flashing lights of cameras a stark reminder of the harsh reality of their careers.
You couldn't help but feel a sting of sadness for Jack. Despite his loss, he had given everything he had, pushing himself to the brink of collapse. His performance was nothing short of heroic, and you knew he would be back, stronger and more determined than ever. You made a mental note to be there for him, to listen to his woes and help him pick up the pieces.
But for now, you had to be there for Jannik. As he walked off the court, the roar of the crowd still ringing in your ears, you made your way down to the player's tunnel. The air was thick with the scent of victory and defeat, a potent mix that clung to your clothes and skin. You spotted his coach first, a look of relief and pride etched into his weathered features.
\\\
"Jannik played a hell of a match," you said, trying to keep your voice steady.
His coach nodded, a proud smile crossing his face. "Yes, he did. And so did Jack."
You couldn't argue with that. The match had been a masterclass in grit and determination, a battle of wills that had left no room for anything but respect. You pushed through the crowd, the cacophony of voices and camera flashes a stark contrast to the quiet moments of camaraderie you'd shared with both players. Finally, you reached Jannik, who was signing autographs for the eager fans that lined the tunnel. His eyes lit up when he saw you, and he excused himself, making his way over.
"I'm sorry," he said, his voice thick with exhaustion. "I know it wasn't easy for you."
You nodded, unable to find the words to express the tornado of emotions inside you. You wrapped your arms around him, feeling the warmth of his sweat-soaked shirt, the tremble of his muscles. "You were both amazing," you whispered into his ear, trying to keep the tears at bay.
Jannik's grip tightened around you, his chest heaving with deep breaths. "Thank you for being here," he murmured. "For understanding."
You nodded, your heart aching for Jack, for the pain you knew he was feeling. But you also felt a swell of pride for Jannik, for the sheer force of will he had displayed on that court. The battle was over, but the war of emotions waged on in your chest.
As Jannik walked away to face the media, you made your way to the locker room, the air cool and heavy with the scent of sweat and determination. The silence was a stark contrast to the roar of the stadium just moments ago. You found Jack slumped on a bench, his head in his hands.
"You okay?" You asked, trying to keep the tremor out of your voice.
Jack looked up, his eyes red-rimmed and tired, but his smile was genuine. "Could've been better, but I gave it all I had."
You sat down beside him, your hand resting gently on his back. "You played incredibly, Jack. I'm so proud of you."
Jack let out a sigh, his shoulders rising and falling with the weight of his exhaustion. "It just wasn't enough," he murmured, his voice hoarse from the effort. "Jannik… he's on a different level today."
You nodded, knowing the truth in his words. "But you gave him a run for his money," you said, trying to soothe his bruised ego. "You didn't make it easy for him."
Jack chuckled, a hollow sound that didn't quite reach his eyes. "Yeah, I guess I didn't. Just wish I could've done more."
You leaned in closer, whispering, "You'll get another shot. I know you will."
Jack nodded, his eyes never leaving yours. "Thanks," he murmured. "Means a lot, coming from you."
For a moment, the two of you sat in the quiet, the buzz of the stadium outside the locker room a distant memory. You could see the weariness in Jack's posture, the pain of his loss a palpable presence between you. You felt torn, a piece of you celebrating Jannik's victory and another mourning Jack's defeat.
"Do you want to talk about it?" You asked gently, breaking the silence.
Jack shook his head. "Not really. Just need some time to process it before I head back to the UK for the Davis Cup." He took a deep breath, his chest rising and falling. "But thanks for being here. It means a lot."
You nodded, giving his shoulder a squeeze. "Of course. You know I've got your back, no matter what."
Jack offered a weak smile, the exhaustion etched on his face. "Yeah, I know. Thank you."
You both sat in silence for a while longer, the cacophony of the outside world a stark contrast to the quiet sanctum of the locker room. Finally, you stood up, gently squeezing his shoulder. "I'll give you some space. But you know where to find me if you need anything."
Jack nodded, his eyes a mix of gratitude and defeat. "I do. Thanks." He let out a chuckle, "go celebrate with him, yeah?" He nudged you gently, trying to lighten the mood. "He's your partner, after all."
You forced a smile, not wanting to leave Jack alone in his despair, but knowing Jannik would be waiting, eager to share his victory with you. As you exited the locker room, the hallway was a cacophony of reporters and staff, all vying for a piece of the victorious player. You pushed through the throng, feeling the sting of each flashbulb in your eyes, a stark reminder of the harsh reality that existed outside the bubble of the tennis court.
\\\
When you reached Jannik, his eyes lit up, a mix of adrenaline and relief. He enveloped you in a tight embrace, whispering into your ear, "Thank you for being here." His voice was hoarse from the roars and grunts of the match, his body still buzzing with the electricity of victory. You returned the embrace, feeling the heat of his skin, the rapid beat of his heart.
"You played an amazing match," you said, trying to balance the pride you felt with the sadness for Jack.
Jannik's eyes searched yours, reading the tumult of emotions. "It wasn't easy," he admitted, his voice gruff with fatigue. "But knowing you were there… it helped."
You nodded, the tension in your chest slowly unfurling. "I'm just sorry it had to be like this," you murmured, the weight of the match's outcome heavy between you.
Jannik leaned back, his gaze holding yours. "Me too," he said, his voice a soft rumble. "But that's the sport, isn't it? Sometimes, you win, sometimes you learn."
You nodded, understanding the unspoken words that lingered in the air. Your relationship with Jannik was a delicate dance, one that had to be carefully navigated around the minefield of their professional rivalry. You knew that Jack's loss was a win for your partner, but it was also a stark reminder of the toll their careers could take on their friendship.
"Come on," Jannik said, taking your hand. "Let's get out of here."
You followed him through the maze of corridors, the cacophony of the stadium fading behind you. His entourage trailed closely, eager to celebrate his victory and prepare him for the finals. You felt a pang of guilt as you watched him, knowing that his triumph came at the cost of Jack's pain.
\\\
Once in the quiet of his suite, Jannik let out a deep sigh, collapsing onto the couch. His eyes searched yours, looking for something to anchor him in the whirlwind of his emotions. You sat beside him, taking his hand in yours, feeling the warmth and the calluses from hours of practice.
"I'm sorry," he murmured, his voice raw from the match. "It's never easy playing against friends."
You nodded, understanding the weight of his words. "You both gave everything out there."
Jannik leaned his head back, closing his eyes for a brief moment. "Jack…he's incredible," he said, his voice filled with admiration. "The way he fights, it's inspiring."
You squeezed his hand in silent agreement. "He's going to be okay," you assured him. "He'll bounce back."
Jannik nodded, his eyes still closed. "I know," he said. "He's a fighter, like you."
You couldn't help but smile at the comparison. You had always been the stable one, the rock they both leaned on. The one who knew when to push and when to pull back. The one who had seen them at their worst and still believed in them.
"And what about you?" You asked, your voice gentle. "How are you feeling?"
Jannik opened his eyes, meeting your gaze. "I'm okay," he said, but the tightness in his jaw belied his weariness. "It's just…seeing him out there, suffering…it was tough."
You stroked his thumb with your own, feeling the strength in his hand, the power that had won him the match. "But you had to play your best," you reminded him gently. "It's what you both do."
He nodded, his eyes drifting to the floor. "Yeah, but…I don't know." He took a deep breath. "It's weird, playing against someone you care about."
You leaned in closer, your voice a soothing balm. "You guys are more than just rivals. You're good friends, and that's what makes this so special."
Jannik looked up, his eyes searching yours. "It's hard, you know?" he said, his voice cracking with emotion. "To want to win so badly, but also to not want to see him hurt."
You nodded, your heart swelling with affection for both of them. "But that's what makes you both champions," you said, your voice steady. "Your ability to push through the pain and the love for the game, and still respect each other at the end of it all."
Jannik leaned into you, his head resting on your shoulder. "Thanks," he murmured. "Couldn't do it without you."
You wrapped an arm around him, holding him close. "You'll always have me," you assured him. "No matter what happens on the court."
The room was quiet, save for the distant echoes of the still-celebrating stadium. You could feel the tension in Jannik's body slowly dissipate, his muscles uncoiling as he melted into your embrace. "I know," he murmured, his voice muffled against your neck. "It just gets to me sometimes."
You kissed the top of his head, feeling the dampness of his hair against your lips. "You're human," you said, your voice soothing. "And that's what makes you so amazing to watch out there."
Jannik chuckled, the tension in his body slowly easing. He pulled back, a look of determination replacing the shadows in his eyes. "Alright," he said, taking a deep breath. "I've got one more to go."
You nodded, knowing he was referring to the final match of the US Open. "You've got this," you assured him, a smile playing on your lips. "Just one more step."
Jannik's eyes searched yours, looking for the strength he needed to push forward. "Yeah," he said, his voice firm. "One more step."
You both stood, the quiet moment of reflection overshadowed by the looming final match. The suite was suddenly alive with the sound of his team, discussing strategies and preparing for the celebration. The TV in the corner replayed the match highlights, and you watched the replay of their epic rallies, the fiery determination in Jack's eyes, and the unyielding focus in Jannik's.
Jannik's coach approached, a proud smile on his face. "You played an incredible match, son," he said, clapping him on the back. "The final is going to be tough, but I know you're ready."
Jannik nodded, his eyes never leaving yours. "Thank you," he said, his voice filled with a quiet confidence that was both reassuring and a little intimidating.
You watched as he turned to face the room, his shoulders squared and his chin held high. The energy around him was electric, his team buzzing with excitement and anticipation. The final match was just three days away, and the gravity of the situation was not lost on you. You had seen Jannik's highs and lows, the hours of practice, the endless days of travel and sacrifice. This was it, the culmination of all his hard work, and you knew he was ready.

Volleyball update!!!
I have completely forgotten about updating my progress! Just came to think about it today and though I give a word from myself.
So volleyball is still fun. A lot of fun. I always look so much forwards to practice. It's so fun for me and our new coach is also very engaged with the team.
In last update, I think I told you guys that I had moved teams and got to play setter. Well, I have the infamous knee problems that comes with volley and needed to step down on the practice amount...so no official setter on the team here haha. Like, I struggled up the stairs in the worst of it. Felt like an old woman, so I had to cut down on practice and needed to stat building the strength and stability up again. But now, they are much better and doesn't hurt too much. Of course, I get the pain her ache here and there, but at least I can function normally.
But I still love playing setter. It's an hard position to learn, but it's a very rewarding thing at the same time. My backwards sets are also very accurate now. I still struggle with knowing exactly the height and position like I do with regular sets-...but the only way to get better at it, is just pass backwards sets.
Since I'm a lot more comfortable on the court now, I get to play around a lot. I can dump, I can set back or forwards or I can run up and pretend that I'm setting; only to spike it over the net in the same jump. It's a lot of fun.
It' very fun when I manages to fool the other team, but it's very fun when my team also get tricked by me just playing around. It's also very fun that I can try out new things and it doesn't affect my team negatively. Like we are only practicing, but just the feel of confidence on the court is world changing for me. Like, I'm not scared to try out new things just for the heck of it.
When we just play normal rotation, I have become a lot more comfortable with feints too and can read the block better to work my way around it. I have even managed to time my attack too, so I don't spike when the block is at the highest reach! I'm also getting better at a spike in the back (before the three meter mark). But when I'm not playing setter or we only play with normal rotation- the others aren't too comfortable setting to the back, so I don't get to do it too often.
Also, not to sound like the biggest weeb here (but I run a HQ blog so...) but I do kind of understand Kyotani in S2 when he said he got restless when he didn't get to spike the ball. I get like that too when I haven't touched the ball for a few rallies and then when it comes my way- I get so excited and just wants it it and I often mess up. I'm such a kid really.
I do still want to increase my vertical jump, so I can get better at both hitting but also blocking. That is a department I'm lacking. It's like I have all the technique down, I just lack the vertical reach I want.
I can also get better at pancake and digs. Sometimes I time it perfectly, but I'm often a little bit to late. So I do want to get a lot better at it, since even as a setter- you can get hard passes that just needs to get up.
My servers are very stable now. When I fail a serve, I always know the reason. Either I didn't throw it high enough or I didn't hit it correctly. I can always managed to fix it when it's my turn again. I want to try the jump serve or even a floater. Fun fact; I did actually managed float serve with underhand serve when I could only do that. I was known for my underhand serves for a while there in competition. Don't let anyone tell you that they can't be useful and cool.
There was also one time, we played mix and I was going to set the ball- and I came under the ball wrong and like all of my bones just cracked. They stopped the game and wondered if I broke something. I didn't, but they were sprained. Nothing that some sports tape can't fix. Seriously though, they were messed up for a few months because I still played. So take care of ya bones, peeps. Message from me <3
My team is mixed with a few people that have some experience and some that have been a few years out of the sport. So we focus a lot on getting the team dynamic down, but to be completely honest- the team is not that close. Some players have quit and new ones have come. And the feeling of the team is a little more detached (in a way). It's kind of sad, since we were such a close group before. I try to be a positive source, but it's hard when the team itself doesn't really come along like we have in the past. There have recently started a new girl, and the two of us play together well and it's nice with someone fresh that also just want to enjoy practice and doesn't freeze people out.
I did try some beach volley in the summer. We have a lot of beach courts in my city. Once even just five minutes away. I'm still not used to it. I keep thinking on digging the ball, but I can't slide and I just knock the breath out of my system. I'm a little scared to do the spike approach, because I have a weak left ankle after breaking it too times and uneven surfaces are my enemy. Not preferred, but it's a lot of fun still. I do still learn a lot from it. Really, I can understand why the sand volleyball players (and hinata) becomes so good at receives. Because, with sand volley- you do need to be where the ball is to make it easier for you and your partner.
Anyway, that was that. I still love the sport and if it was up to me- I would play it every day. Like, I played volleyball for like five or six hours once (no wonder I have knee problems) but I can go on forever I people want to play with me.
(me when my volleyball mates doesn't want to play for another three hours)
#personal#volleball#not haikyuu#how do you make gif?#like if my knees just turned into dust in the next year#wouldnt be too surprised

LYLE MENENDEZ playing tennis age 17, in a article for the New Jersey Times, 1985.
“When you would be practicing would your father be there participating in your practices?”
“In tennis? Yes. Not every time but most of the time my dad was there. Anytime he could be there he’d be there.”
“And when you were playing in tournaments was your father there?”
“Yes, he would fly in and uh… a lot of times I remember I would start the first couple points and uh… then I’d see my dad show up in a business suit um… having just arrived.”
“Would you be glad to see him?”
“… yes.”
“Did he make it more fun for you to be in tournaments?”
“No.”
“Why not?”
“Well whenever my dad was around it was very heavy pressure and uh… I preferred to be just with the coach um… but for some reason when I was away from my dad um… I had trouble playing and so um… I remember the semi finals of one big championship tournament with a rival I had beaten earlier in the spring in front of my dad easily, this was a big match like fifty people watching and I lost 6-0-6-0, and my coach looked at me like “oh my god” how are we gonna tell your dad? Um… he was like pale and I was… sometimes I just couldn’t play if my dad was not there or… and I don’t know sometimes it was the nerves or just having to explain to him the match.”
“What do you mean explain to him the match? If your father wasn’t there would you have to tell him about the match?”
“Every game, exactly how the match progressed.”
“Now when you say exactly how the match progressed, would you call your father at work or when he got home? How would you tell him?”
“I’d call him immediately, he wanted to know immediately.”
“So would he be at work?”
“He would normally be either at home or sometimes he would be um… no I guess at tournaments he was mostly at work but I’d call him after practices um.. and I would be playing late and he might get home and expect a call from either the coach or from me. Or we’d reach him at the office his secretary would always say he’s out to lunch, he’s busy, as soon as he found out it was my tennis coach, oh he just walked in… and then we’d uh… he’d want everything ya know, exactly the temperament…”
“Tell me, tell me what you would tell him.”
“He’d talk to the coach first and uh… I could hear my coach saying ya know he did real well… I know he… it was a close match. Depending on whatever happened, just describe the match kind of and then he’d say your father wants to talk to you and uh… dad would ask me to have the coach leave the room so he could talk to me in private and he would say… tell me what happened? I heard this, I wanna know why did this happen this way? As far as I’ll give you examples um… he’d say ya know… you elected to serve first? And I’d say yes, he’d say ok, did you go through the first three games like we arranged? Cause he would have like exactly what I was supposed to do for like the first twenty five points, where I would just have a set strategy, ya know sometimes it would go off during the point but pretty much I would either serve a volley to the deuce court, stay back on the add court, then if it was thirty all he’d have different strategies um… and I’d explain to him how I followed those strategies and he would want to know why they didn’t work out and uh… I’d do my best to explain… in a way that didn’t admit that my back hand was off or that I wasn’t concentrating or things like that.”
“Now would these be conversations that would last two or three minutes or how long would you be explaining in detail what happened?”
“An hour and a half. About and hour and a half cause we’d also then have to go into what was happening tomorrow um… and uh… he’d want to know exactly what I ate that day maybe it was the food that affected the match and I would write out what I ate every time I was away from him so we could chart whether only bananas and so on in the morning seemed to be a winning percentage and so on. And actually purchase a computer um… at one point that you could plug all these things in and it would give you the percentages of what happened when you ate this or you tried this strategy or how many unforced errors and very very technical with my dad.”
“At one point were you the number one player in the middle states tennis association?”
“Yes.”
“What is the middle states tennis association? What area does that cover?”
“That’s uh… the five states um… most of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Delaware.”
“How old were you when you were number one in that area?”
“I was uh… seventeen I think, my first year of the eighteen and unders.”
“So everybody eligible to play in that would be eighteen or younger?”
“Right.”
“And you were seventeen when you won?”
“Right.”
“And do you remember when you won that? Do you remember that period of time?”
“… I remember the year.”
“Was your dad proud of you? Had you finally done enough?”
“Um… he was proud of me but uh.., by the time I could get to be number one, we were thinking nationally and nationally I was not where he wanted me to be, so we didn’t really worry about like the five states thing um… we concentrated on the nation, what the other players were doing and I was having trouble nationally and that was always on his mind.”’
“Did it seem to be important? Did your dad seem to be real happy about this or..?”
“Um… he didn’t really say much about it, it just happened the rankings came up, I noticed I was number one but again we were thinking nationally it was like so what? That was an upsetting year because we had lost again uh… family of the year tennis for New Jersey to a family called the Leshlees and my dad was pissed and uh… my mother called to complain and the whole thing because my brother had a very good year also um… but ya know we lost that so he was very upset, he basically was upset with my brother for not having been number one also which would of clinched it and he was like five or four.”
“So your brother was number four or five, if he’d been number one it would have clinched it meaning you would have got the tennis family of the year?”’
“Right.”
“Did your sports activities seem to take up all of your dad’s free time?”
“… it took up any time he wasn’t working. Yeah.”
“And did your mother ever express any resentment about that?”
“Oh yeah, many many times.”
“What would she say?”
“She would say many things um… she would say that I ruined her life and she would explain to me why and how I ruined her life.”
“What would she tell you about how and why you ruined her life?”
“… well if it was… if she wasn’t in a tantrum and she was just speaking normally um… she would just explain all the things that she could of been, an actress, broadcasting, I learned about her aspirations, disappointments with not being a child actress and wanting to go on in acting or uh… broadcasting. She told me that she had a job in New York to be a hostess at a restaurant that she said she’d make almost $50,000 a year and that then suddenly she’d got pregnant, that she had not wanted to get pregnant, that my dad had then forced her… well gave her an ultimatum either you leave or you stay home with my son and quit and uh… so she chose to stay home and essentially her life was pretty much ruined from that point on and then we would have more discussions uh… about how much money was being spent on my tennis um… all my dad’s time on my tennis, who cares? Um… and uh… and then I would hear about the lessons she couldn’t have, the things that she couldn’t have um… and then there would be other times when she was in a tantrum then it would just come out very uh… ya know in a rage.”
“What would come out in a rage?”
“… she would be throwing things and screaming and flailing and trying to hit you and saying you’re a bastard and uh… she cursed a lot and uh… wait till your dad gets home I’ll tell him the things that you didn’t do today and uh… I wish you were never born and why can’t you be like your brother? And what’s the matter with you? And then I would try to say something and she would say shut up! I don’t want to hear it, you’re stupid, I hate you. Um… “
“How old were you when you heard things like I wish you were never born?”
“…. Seven.”

(Competitive Sensory Play) Armed robbery is typically motivated by the desire to obtain money, which is then often used to purchase drugs; however, some armed robbers engage in the crime with the intention of boosting their status within their peer group. Whatever the motivation, the act is classified as a violent crime, because armed robberies can result in injury and sometimes death to victims.
(Agreggator Model) Some common kinds of robbers include first offenders, persistent thieves and hustlers, drug addicts, habitual robbers, and skillful planners.
(Graffiti Art Galleries) Raiding is a military tactic or operational warfare mission which has a specific purpose. Raiders do not capture and hold a location, but quickly retreat to a previously defended position before enemy forces can respond in a coordinated manner or formulate a counter-attack. A raiding group may consist of combatants specially trained in this tactic, such as commandos, or as a special mission assigned to any regular troops. Raids are often a standard tactic in irregular warfare, employed by warriors, guerrilla fighters, or other irregular military forces. Some raids are large, for example, the Sullivan Expedition.
The purposes of a raid may include: to capture specific key persons; to gather intelligence.

TOÜSSAINT'S BULLET CHESS INFLUENCED ART CURATORS (FARMLAND RENTAL PROPERTIES)
Preparation: The first step in creating such a good repertoire is to understand that memorization comes in a distant second to an appreciation of the ideas behind your opening moves
Prophylaxis*: In the game of chess, prophylaxis or a prophylactic move is a move that stops the opponent from taking action in a certain area for fear of some type of reprisal. Prophylactic moves are aimed at not just improving one's position but preventing the opponent from improving their own.
Pre-Move: This is when you make your move *before* the opponent has taken their turn; Helps with Time, Creates psychological pressure
Tactical Vision: Tactics are maneuvers that take advantage of short-term opportunities. They can support your strategy and/or destroy your opponent's plan and ideas; Tactical and combinational themes must be mastered
Opening Game: A chess opening is the group of initial moves of a chess game. In addition to referring to specific move sequences, the opening is the first phase of a chess game,
Middle Game: The middlegame in chess is the portion of the game in between the opening and the endgame, though there is no clear line between the opening and middlegame or between the middlegame and endgame. The theory on the middlegame is less developed than the opening or endgame.
Development: It is important to develop your whole Army. Note the word whole. Some players get a few pieces out and launch an attack. The necessity for quick development depends on the type of Center that exists. For example, if the center is closed, development is not necessarily a priority because the enemy pieces won't be able to break into your position. However, if the center is open, development takes on a great significance
Initiative**: The side that forces its ideas on a reacting opponent; Is making believable threats or responding to threats
Dynamic Advantage: A dynamic Advantage centers around temporary items like development, initiative, and more active pieces. Make sure you make use of this Dynamic Plus before the opponent catches up in development, the initiative runs dry, or you're active pieces are exchanged
Compensation: If you give up something (space, structural weakness, squares, material) and get nothing in return you are in trouble. However, if you give up the same imbalances (space, structural weakness, squares, material) in exchange for different types of imbalance you are said to have compensation for whatever it is you gave up
Material Advantage: A material advantage goes to the player who has more and/or stronger pieces.
End Game: In chess and chess-like games, the endgame is the stage of the game when a few pieces are left on the board. The line between middlegame and endgame is often not clear and may occur gradually or with the quick exchange of a few pairs of pieces.
TOÜSSAINT'S PHARMACOECONOMICS
A pharmacopoeia, pharmacopeia, or pharmacopoea (from the obsolete typography pharmacopœia, meaning "drug-making"), in its modern technical sense, is a book containing directions for the identification of compound medicines, and published by the authority of a government or a medical or pharmaceutical society. Descriptions of preparations are called monographs. In a broader sense it is a reference work for pharmaceutical drug specifications. Although older writings exist which deal with herbal medicine, the major initial work in the field is considered to be the Edwin Smith Papyrus in Egypt, Pliny's pharmacopoeia. Pharmacoeconomics refers to the scientific discipline that compares the value of one pharmaceutical drug or drug therapy to another. It is a sub-discipline of health economics. A pharmacoeconomic study evaluates the cost (expressed in monetary terms) and effects (expressed in terms of monetary value, efficacy or enhanced quality of life) of a pharmaceutical product. Pharmacoeconomic studies serve to guide optimal healthcare resource allocation, in a standardized and scientifically grounded manner.

It also advocated the modernization and cultural rejuvenation of Italy.

Coffee and Cigarette Documentary This 11-vignette film focuses on the human interactions that happen while partaking in the everyday indulgence of coffee and cigarettes. Featuring well-known actors and other artists as themselves or some version thereof, the film highlights the nuances and subtle hostilities that can be a part of seemingly normal conversations. Bill Murray waits on the Wu-Tang Clan, Iggy Pop and Tom Waits get on each others' nerves and Jack and Meg White of the White Stripes discuss Nikola Tesla.

KINSHASA CAPITAL STRATEGY

The Belgian banking system has long been known to be a sophisticated and liberal banking system. Standardized customer account numbers for all financial intermediaries are widely used, and internet and phone banking are well developed. There are no restrictions on the free movement of capital and regulatory requirements are minimal. There is a particularly wide and flexible range of loan products offered to companies, with no discrimination as to the nationality of the investor. There are also many options available when it comes to raising risk capital. Thanks to an efficient branch network, there is a large number of Belgian and foreign banks servicing the country. Due to the sheer volume of international business carried out in Belgium, more than half of all banking transactions are international financial transactions. The majority of Belgian banks also have an extensive international network based on strategically located branches in the main financial markets around the world. A number of the 106 banks located in Belgium feature prominently in the top 100 international banks. The combined assets of the three main banks (Fortis, ING and KB Group) amount to $370 billion. All credit institutions (banks and savings banks) operate under the same legal framework and are monitored by the same supervisory authorities. The Banking, Finance and Insurance Commission (BFAC) supervises the activities of financial institutions, including banks, investment funds, stock brokers, finance companies and holding companies. As a result of the deregulation of the banking sector in 1993, credit institutions have been able to offer all financial services, as defined by European legislation. The BFAC supervises the financial sector in close coordination with the National Bank of Belgium (Belgium’s central bank). The main bankcard used in Belgium is the Mister Cash-Bancontact debit card, issued along with a PIN number upon opening a bank account in Belgium. In order to open an account, proof of identity, such as a passport, is required. The Bancontact card can be used to withdraw cash at ATMs, and to pay for almost anything in Belgium, from a newspaper, parking meter, gasoline, or a loaf of bread from the bakery. Credit options are also available on application. All bank ATMs in Belgium accept the Bancontact card; some accept MasterCard, Visa and other credit and debit cards. The major credit cards are generally accepted in stores, restaurants, and hotels.
AgBank and Options Exchange: Since the establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949, ABC has been formed and abolished several times. On July 10, 1951, two banks of the Republic of China, Farmers Bank of China and Cooperation Bank, merged to form the Agricultural Cooperation Bank, which ABC regards as its ancestor. However, the bank was merged into People's Bank of China, the central bank in 1952. The first bank bearing the name Agricultural Bank of China was founded in 1955, but it was merged into the central bank in 1957. In 1963 the Chinese government formed another agricultural bank which was also merged into the central bank two years later. Today's Agricultural Bank of China was founded in February 1979. As the People's Bank of China began spinning off its commercial banking functions after 1978, ABC's focus on providing farmers with financial services increased.[10]: 225 ABC was restructured to form a holding company called Agricultural Bank of China Limited.[11] It was listed on the Shanghai and Hong Kong stock exchanges in July 2010.[12] Founded in 1973, the CBOE Options Exchange is the world's largest options exchange with contracts focusing on individual equities, indexes, and interest rates.
Bishop's College School or BCS is an English-language non-profit independent boarding prep school in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada for students in Grades 7 to 12.[2][3][4][5] Founded in 1836, BCS is the fifth oldest private school in Canada.[6][2][7] BCS has the highest endowment per student of any independent school in Canada.[8][9] Seven BCS people have been named Rhodes Scholars.[10][11] A royal charter was granted in 1853 from Queen Victoria for Bishop's College when BCS was the constituent junior division. The school was recognized as the "Eton of Canada" initially by the first Governor General of Canada, Lord Monck on a visit in 1864.[12][13][5] It locates at the heart the historic Eastern Townships and near New England. The school is recognized as a Quebec cultural heritage site in the Répertoire du patrimoine culturel du Québec.[14][15]
Grey collar – Workforce that is not classified in blue collar nor white collar. It is occasionally used to describe elderly individuals working beyond the age of retirement, as well as those occupations incorporating elements of both blue- and white-collar.
Gold collar – Refers to children of wealthy parents working jobs they normally would not be qualified for. Alternatively refers to highly-skilled professionals in high-demand fields such as doctors, lawyers, engineers, and scientists.
JAVA ANGELINA FRANC (Central African Franc CFA): Petrodollars are crude oil export revenues denominated in U.S. dollars. The term gained currency in the mid-1970s when soaring oil prices generated large trade and current account surpluses for oil exporting countries. A currency peg is a policy in which a national government or central bank sets a fixed exchange rate for its currency with a foreign currency or a basket of currencies and stabilizes the exchange rate between countries. The global coffee industry is worth $495.50 billion as of 2023. The United States contributes $95.58 billion to this total, which is more than any other country in the world.
Athletics Training: The force-velocity curve is a physical representation of the inverse relationship between force and velocity. Understanding the interaction between force and velocity and their influences on exercise selection is vital for any strength and conditioning professional. For example, it is essential that a strength and conditioning coach understands the physiological and biomechanical differences between prescribing a one-repetition maximum (1RM) deadlift and five-repetition maximum (5RM) jump squats – as one will produce higher forces and lower velocities than the other. Failure to understand the relationship and its importance will likely lead to less than optimal training prescription.
Opportunity Costs represent the potential benefits that an individual, investor, or business misses out on when choosing one alternative over another. Because opportunity costs are unseen by definition, they can be easily overlooked.
Game Theory has a wide range of applications, including psychology, evolutionary biology, war, politics, economics, and business. Despite its many advances, game theory is still a young and developing science.
Meat Source: Wild game is surprisingly leaner, relatively higher in Omega-3 fatty acids, lower in cholesterol (due to the low saturated fat content), as well as devoid of steroids, antibiotics and other additives because of their natural origin and active ways of life. When compared to domestic animals such as cows and chickens, game meats have an average of 4.3% fat while their domesticated competitors typically have a fat content of 25-30%. Not just any fat either. We’re talking a lot less saturated fat (aka the bad fat) and a much higher proportion of polyunsaturated fatty acids (aka the good fat). Additionally, the protein, vitamin, and mineral composition of wild game stands to compete with its domesticated competitors, especially when it comes to zinc and iron. This is due to their natural diet of wild vegetation as opposed to grain and corn. (Wild Turkey, Deer, Duck, and Jackrabbit)
Alkaline D-Aspartic Acid Gastronomy: D-Aspartic Acid is an amino acid that is used to make proteins in the body and is a part of several metabolic reactions. One systematic review found that there was evidence of D-Aspartic Acid boosting testosterone levels in male animals. Some foods that are high in D-Aspartic Acid include: Poultry, Meat, Eggs, Dairy, Rice, Oats & Barley Donut Flour, Peaches, Dried Apricots, Nectarines, Cherries, Plums, and Bananas. The alkaline diet is based on the idea that replacing acid-forming foods with alkaline foods can improve your health.
Spinach: Specifically, researchers led by Maria Parr — a professor of pharmaceutical chemistry at the Freie Universität in Berlin, Germany — examined the effect of ecdysterone on athletic performance and muscle strength. EcdysteroneTrusted Source is the main compound in spinach extract. It is a phytosteroid — that is, a steroid that occurs naturally in plants and belongs to a class called phytosterols, which are “structurally similar to cholesterol.” Previous studiesTrusted Source in mammals have shown that ecdysteroids have a wide range of beneficial effects. In the 1980s, researchers dubbed ecdysterone the “Russian secret,” following suspicions that Russian Olympic athletes were using it as a performance boosting supplement.
Salmon as Unsaturated Fat Protein: The fatty-acid-binding proteins (FABPs) are a family of transport proteins for fatty acids and other lipophilic substances such as eicosanoids and retinoids.[1][2] These proteins are thought to facilitate the transfer of fatty acids between extra- and intracellular membranes.[3] Some family members are also believed to transport lipophilic molecules from outer cell membrane to certain intracellular receptors such as PPAR.[4] The FABPs are intracellular carriers that “solubilize” the endocannabinoid anandamide (AEA), transporting AEA to the breakdown by FAAH, and compounds that bind to FABPs block AEA breakdown, raising its level. The cannabinoids (THC and CBD) are also discovered to bind human FABPs (1, 3, 5, and 7) that function as intracellular carriers, as THC and CBD inhibit the cellular uptake and catabolism of AEA by targeting FABPs.[5] Competition for FABPs may in part or wholly explain the increased circulating levels of endocannabinoids reported after consumption of cannabinoids.[6] Levels of fatty-acid-binding protein have been shown to decline with ageing in the mouse brain, possibly contributing to age-associated decline in synaptic activity.

The second set almost looked like a one-way traffic as J. Fonseca dominated the first half of the second set, which might or might not be the case as the match progressed. Despite acing his way to generate another game point, a backhand error foiled it before his successful volley set up his latest game point, which was converted for his massive hold to 1-0. Afterward, the Brazilian qualifier kicked off the second game with a successful drop shot before his backhand winners widened the gap, ultimately generating his break point before A. Rublev's double fault converted it to 2-0. Starting the next game with a successful volley, J. Fonseca consolidated his lead to 3-0, thus confirming his well-placed shots while maintaining his aggression in this match.
J. Fonseca then started the next game with a forehand pass, which added more pressure to the ninth seed before the latter's +1 backhand error, which was fired slightly too long, generated the former's break point. Foiling it with an unreturned serve, the Brazilian qualifier had another forehand return winner for his second break point, but A. Rublev's smashes fumbled it before he finally went on the board and held to 3-1. Even though the latter had fair chances to break, which started from his forehand return winner for the first equalizer before saving J. Fonseca's 2 game points with a deep return to a third-shot error and a forehand winner to the first deuce, a forehand error fumbled the said break point made due to J. Fonseca's third-shot forehand error, which game concluded with the qualifier's gigantic hold to 4-1.
A. Rublev then kept in touch with a service game hold to 4-2, where J. Fonseca followed suit with another smooth hold to 5-2, where these two games were seen as "service exhibitions." It took two more games before the latter earned the opportunity to serve for the second set, which he sealed with an ace after confirming the 0-hold, taking it 6-3 to put himself way ahead in this match.

Tennis is a sport that demands a blend of physical endurance, mental toughness, and refined technical skills. Whether you're a budding junior player or an experienced adult looking to improve, professional tennis coaching can make all the difference in your game. You can develop elite skills and reach your full potential with personalized coaching tailored to your goals. In this article, we explore the benefits of working with a professional tennis coach and how services like private tennis lessons, group lessons, and specialized training can take your game to the next level.
The Value of Professional Tennis Coaching
Tennis is a complex sport that requires a combination of speed, strength, coordination, and strategy. While playing matches and practicing on your own can help you improve, the guidance of a professional tennis coach provides structured learning that maximizes your development. A skilled coach brings years of experience, knowledge of the game, and specialized techniques to each session, helping you address weaknesses and build on your strengths.
With professional tennis coaching, players are introduced to the European style of tennis coaching, which emphasizes technical mastery, consistency, and adaptability. This coaching style is renowned for producing top-level players because it combines solid fundamentals with innovative approaches to skill development. European coaches are often known for focusing on developing all aspects of a player's game—technical, tactical, and psychological—so they can excel under pressure in competitive environments.
Tennis Coaching Services: Tailored to Every Need
Tennis coaching services come in various forms, each designed to meet the specific needs of players at different skill levels. Whether you're looking for one-on-one attention or enjoy the camaraderie of group training, there are coaching options to suit your preferences.
Tennis Private Lessons
Tennis private lessons are an excellent option for players looking to accelerate their progress. These one-on-one sessions allow the coach to focus exclusively on your game, offering personalized feedback and targeted drills. Private lessons will enable you to work on specific areas of your game, whether improving your serve, perfecting your forehand, or fine-tuning your footwork. The coach's undivided attention ensures you receive immediate feedback and can make adjustments quickly.
Tennis Group Lessons
While private lessons are fantastic for personalized attention, group lessons offer a different advantage. Group sessions create a dynamic and social learning environment where players can practice with others of similar skill levels. Group lessons are a great way to improve match play, work on tactical awareness, and enjoy friendly competition. In these lessons, you'll often focus on drills designed to enhance your game while learning from your peers. Group tennis lessons are also more affordable than private sessions, making them popular for players of all levels.
Special Technique Training
For those looking to develop a specific aspect of their game, special technique training is a highly effective way to refine skills. This training aims to improve your serve, backhand, volleys, or overall strategy. With the guidance of a professional coach, you'll learn the correct mechanics and develop muscle memory to perform with precision and consistency. Technique training often includes video analysis, allowing you to see exactly what needs to be improved and make adjustments accordingly.
Tennis Summer Camp for Kids & Adults: A Fun and Intensive Way to Learn
Enrolling in a tennis summer camp is one of the most immersive and rewarding ways to take your game to the next level. These camps are not only for juniors—tennis summer camps are designed specifically for adults, too! Summer camps offer an intensive, fun, and focused training environment, whether you're looking to introduce your child to the sport or enhance your skills.
Kids Tennis & Junior Tennis Camps
For young players, tennis summer camps are an incredible way to develop foundational skills in a structured yet fun environment. Junior tennis players (kids between the ages of 5 and 18) can benefit from specialized training focusing on the early development of good habits. Camps often include technique training, match play, fitness sessions, and mental conditioning. Junior tennis camps help kids learn the game's fundamentals while teaching them important values such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.
Adult Tennis Camps
While tennis summer camps for kids are typical, there are also camps specifically designed for adults. These camps offer a fantastic opportunity for players to improve their game while enjoying the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts. Adult tennis camps focus on refining strokes, improving fitness, and understanding strategy—all in a social and supportive environment. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced player, adult tennis camps offer the perfect mix of instruction and practice, allowing players to meet new friends and make lasting memories while enhancing their game.
Additional Services to Support Your Tennis Journey
In addition to tennis lessons and camps, several other services are available to support your growth as a player. These services cater to specific aspects of the game, ensuring you have the tools to perform at your best.
Racket Stringing Services
A crucial but often overlooked aspect of tennis is racket maintenance. As a player's game evolves, so does their need for optimal equipment. Professional racket stringing services ensure your racket is perfectly tuned for your playing style and preferences. Whether you prefer a softer feel for more control or a firmer string setup for power, a well-strung racket can make a huge difference in your performance. String tension affects your ball control, spin, and overall comfort, so getting your racket professionally strung is a valuable service for any serious player.
Ball Machine Rental
Practising alone can sometimes feel repetitive, but ball machine rental offers a fantastic solution for solo training. Ball machines can help you develop consistency by providing a continuous stream of balls, allowing you to focus on specific areas of your game. Whether you're working on your forehand, backhand, or return game, a ball machine offers the advantage of limitless repetition. You can adjust the ball's speed, spin, and frequency, tailoring each session to your training needs.
Tennis for All Ages and Skill Levels
One of the most attractive features of professional tennis coaching is that it caters to players of all ages and skill levels. From kids' tennis to junior tennis and adult tennis, coaching services are designed to meet the needs of players at every stage of their tennis journey.
KIDS TENNIS & JUNIOR TENNIS
Tennis coaching for kids focuses on building a love for the sport while teaching the fundamentals. Coaches often use fun drills and activities that engage younger players and help them develop essential motor skills, coordination, and footwork. By introducing kids to tennis early, they can gain confidence and gradually build technical skills over time. Junior tennis programs continue this progression, focusing on more refined skills and match play to help young players reach their full potential.
ADULT TENNIS
For adults, tennis coaching offers an opportunity to stay active, improve health, and engage in a challenging, rewarding sport. Professional tennis coaching helps you set and achieve personal goals, whether you are a beginner or an advanced player. From increasing endurance and strength to perfecting technique, adult tennis coaching ensures that your game continues improving, regardless of age.
Conclusion
Working with a professional tennis coach is one of the best investments you can make to develop elite skills on the court. Whether through private lessons, group coaching, or tennis camps for kids and adults, the guidance you receive will help refine your technique, enhance your fitness, and deepen your understanding of the game. With additional services like racket stringing and ball machine rentals, your training can be fully supported and tailored to your needs. No matter your age or skill level, tennis coaching services offer the tools and knowledge necessary to take your game to the next level and enjoy the sport entirely.

Essential Beginner Pickleball Tips for Quick Improvement - WPBL
Pickleball is a fun and fast-paced game that blends elements of tennis, badminton, and ping pong. With its growing popularity among people of all ages, it's no surprise that beginners are eager to improve quickly. Whether you're just picking up a paddle or looking to refine your skills, here are some essential beginner pickleball tips to accelerate your progress.
1. Start with the Fundamentals
Master the Grip:The continental grip is the go-to choice for beginners. Hold your paddle as though you're shaking hands with it. This grip provides versatility for forehand and backhand shots.
Perfect Your Stance:A solid stance is crucial for quick movements. Keep your feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent, and weight distributed evenly to respond to shots effectively.
Focus on Your Serve:Pickleball serves must be underhand. Aim for consistency by targeting deep into the opponent’s court. A strong serve sets the tone for your game.
2. Develop Smart Game Strategies
Third Shot Drop:The third shot drop is a beginner-friendly strategy to transition into a slower, controlled rally. Aim for a soft, arcing shot that lands in your opponent’s non-volley zone (the "kitchen"). This limits their ability to return aggressive volleys.
Control the Kitchen:Position yourself just behind the kitchen line and be ready for quick volleys. Dominating this zone is key to winning points and maintaining control. Avoid stepping into the kitchen during a volley—it’s a fault!
Stay Patient and Play to Your Strengths:Rather than trying risky shots, focus on consistency and keeping the ball in play. Let your opponents make the errors.
3. Build Your Physical and Mental Game
Improve Fitness Levels:Pickleball is an excellent cardio workout. Regular play boosts endurance, strengthens your core, and improves balance. Engage in exercises that enhance agility and footwork for quicker movements on the court.
Practice Hand-Eye Coordination:Drills that improve reaction times, like volley practice against a wall, can significantly enhance your precision and speed.
Stay Mentally Focused:Keep calm and avoid frustration during matches. Pickleball is as much a mental game as it is physical. Adapt to your opponent’s strategies and remain alert.
4. Embrace the Pickleball Community
Join Local Clubs and Leagues:The pickleball community is welcoming and vibrant. Joining a local club provides opportunities to play with diverse skill levels and gain valuable experience.
Participate in Tournaments:Tournaments, like those organized by the World Pickleball League, are fantastic platforms to test your skills, meet other enthusiasts, and learn from experienced players.
Learn from Others:Don’t hesitate to ask for tips or watch experienced players. Observing their techniques can inspire and guide your improvement.
5. Prioritize Safety and Gear
Wear Proper Shoes:Invest in court shoes with excellent grip and support to prevent slips and injuries.
Use Protective Gear:Consider eyewear to protect yourself from unexpected paddle or ball hits, especially in doubles matches.
Warm-Up and Cool Down:Start each session with a light warm-up to loosen your muscles and reduce injury risk. After playing, stretch to improve flexibility and recovery.
Why Pickleball is Perfect for Beginners
Pickleball offers quick rewards for effort, making it ideal for those new to sports. It enhances cardiovascular health, builds teamwork, and improves cognitive flexibility. Engaging in pickleball isn’t just about fitness; it’s about building connections and enjoying the thrill of a unique game.
By focusing on these beginner pickleball tips, you’ll see improvement in no time. Remember, consistency is key—practice regularly, stay patient, and enjoy the journey to becoming a confident pickleball player!

Activity (1) (8/12/2024):
For this month’s first activity, I took part in my weekly tennis practice. As usually, I woke up Sunday morning and started the last day of the week with some enjoyable but tiring activity. I practiced the usual techniques, such as forehand and backhand, serving the ball and volleys. As a warm up, I played with the coach in a very narrow field, to improve the accuracy of my shots. I came up with this innitiative, because we have done it before and it made my later games much more accurate. For the last 10 minutes of the pratice, I played against the coach, to train my skills in a “real” tennis game.
Reflection:
The practice helped me wake up, as usually, and be fresh for the rest of the day. I feel that it was a meaningful activity that slightly contributed to my tennis skills, even though I am on a level, which requires much more practice than I do to see progress immediately.

Volleyball update :D
(Spring 2024, February)
So I have moved up the volleyball ranks and are now playing on a second division team. I most likely wont play so much in official matches...since I'm a rookie. That is fine, I'm not ready or comfortable yet to play competitive like that with the new lineup and my skills.
On the new team, we use system. That was why I wanted to move to this group. We had only touched on it before, but the practices were becoming a little monotone with how we usually had our practices. Not to be cocky, but on my last team; I was one of the best players ( mostly because I had played the longest). There was a lot of new players, which meant that we all were on different levels and thus we needed to find a type of practice that all could do.
With system, each player has a set position and we play accordingly...so that makes us moved differently from the normal "school rotation". It's a lot of fun to learn, but also very hard. Since we need to move so much around during the rally and make sure we stand correctly when the ball gets served or spiked. I'm slowly getting the hang of the rules. But let me tell you all, the first few times I played like that, I needed a lot of guidenes and I moved incorrectly. I moved to the front at the wrong time and basically cost my side the point, haha. My team mates are supporting and since I'm new; we all are expecting that I make more than a few mistakes in the start. Now a few weeks on the team; I'm slowly understanding more of it. Sometimes I need help to know where exactly I need to be- but once I know that, the rest is easy!
BUT! Guess what positions I get to play as?!
I'm setter!!!! Like the position I have wanted to play in since I started. I have even gotten a lot better at my backward sets and even middle sets. It's a lot of fun. It is still hard. Sometimes, during one rotation; I forget that I don't have a player in front, behind me. I set to "them" and no one can take the ball, since they can't get to it in time to fix my mistake! Haha, but it's very fun to play setter when I get it right. Setter isn't that much of a popular position to play but, I always loved it. It's fun to play and spike the ball and score points. Yet; it's a lot more fun to give a perfect set and see the spiker score a point. That is why I have always loved setting. It's just so giving when I get it right. Luckily for me, there are two other setters on the team that can give me pointers and help me!
I also have progressed a lot with my serves. I still have some that just go out-of bounds. If I really get into it; I can get a lot over in one go. I also have this thing that my first serve will get over and on the second I'm either too confident or something and I just send it to the net or out on the sides. They're coming together slowly. When I feel like I have the hang of it; I will either see into float serves or jump serves.
I also have some knee injuries. Just overtrained, but they hurt. I actually went to a physical therapist and got some help to build them up again. I had like a one and a half month break from volley during the christmas break and my knees stopped hurting. I went to one practise and honestly though my knees were more or less good to go. Or that it would at least taken a few weeks or months before the injury would come back. Well, it took like that one practise for me to reset my recovery. I'll think I just see how it goes and keep up the rehabilitation workouts with my knees. While playing setter isn't too much jumping, it can be a lot of twist and turns for the knees when running to the right place on the court. I'm fine when I play, it's just after practises it hurts. So well, I just see how it goes and take it from there!
We just had an internally tournament in the club. All team can participate and they make new teams across the teams so we get to know the whole club. It's mix volleyball and a lot of fun. My team got fourth place in the whole tournament. The nice thing about this tournament, is that even when we have first division players that plays together with the newcomers- we all play fairly and just have fun. Of course, we all want to win; but we also want everyone to have a great time! I was very tired after the day, since it was like six hours together in the hall and playing and being referees back to back the whole time we were there. It's a good kind of tired though.
So there is that. I'm currently a rookie setter! It's a lot of fun and I can't wait until I get to learn more about playing as setter and helping my team mates in that regard!
(who made that gif?? so stupid, but very funny. I swear the HQ fandom is on crack sometimes haha!!)

Tennis: A Dynamic Sport of Skill and Strategy
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/c97bd07effd67716084bb4a08408073b/da5da83858d9829f-0b/s540x810/1178d52589f2066ac01ba1f812bd890fcd357393.jpg)
Tennis is a popular racket sport that can be played individually (singles) or in pairs (doubles). Originating in 12th-century France and evolving over the centuries, it is now one of the most globally recognized sports, blending physical endurance, technical skill, and mental strategy.
The Basics
The game is played on a rectangular court divided by a net. Players use a racket to hit a felt-covered rubber ball over the net, aiming to land it within the opponent's designated area. The objective is to score points by ensuring the opponent cannot return the ball within the rules.
Scoring System
The scoring in tennis follows an unusual progression:
Love (0)
15 (1 point)
30 (2 points)
40 (3 points)
Winning a game requires scoring the next point after reaching 40, unless tied at 40-40 (deuce), in which case a player must win by two consecutive points. Matches are divided into sets, with a player typically needing to win six games (by at least two) to secure a set.
Physical and Mental Demands
Tennis is a full-body workout, requiring agility, strength, and precision. Players sprint, dive, and use a variety of strokes—forehand, backhand, volley, and serve—to outplay their opponents. The sport also demands acute mental focus and strategic planning, as players must anticipate opponents’ moves and adapt mid-game.
Major Tournaments
The pinnacle of professional tennis lies in the four Grand Slam tournaments:
1. Australian Open – Played on hard courts.
2. French Open – Played on clay courts, known for its challenging surface.
3. Wimbledon – Grass courts, steeped in tradition.
4. US Open – Hard courts with a lively atmosphere.
