De acordo com a revista britânica Auto Express, o Volkswagen Touareg R já está confirmado pela montadora, que não deu detalhes sobre o projeto. O executivo alemão disse que no futuro, a VW terá vários modelos da linha R abastecidos com combustível, mas que eles deverão seguir o caminho da baixa emissão, que é compromisso da marca.

Em relação ao Touareg R, a imprensa no geral especula que o SUV alemão terá propulsor EA888 2.0 TSI com um motor elétrico acoplado à caixa de transmissão automática ZF de oito marchas, lembrando que esse VW é feito sobre a plataforma modular MLBevo.

A revista inglesa sugere que ele terá em torno de 400 cavalos, pouca coisa em relação ao Touareg com essa mesma tecnologia na China, onde o motor 2.0 TSI trabalha com um propulsor elétrico de 136 cavalos e que confere ao SUV uma força combinada de 368 cavalos e mais de 71 kgfm de torque.

Ele tem autonomia de 58 km no modo elétrico, o que ajuda a reduzir muito a emissão de CO2 e o consumo. Além do Touareg R, a Volkswagen prepara outro SUV para chegada já em 2020. Trata-se do Tiguan R, que de acordo com o que se comenta na Europa atualmente, terá motor 2.0 TSI atualizado para alcançar mais de 300 cavalos.

Depois da enxurrada de SUVs compactos que foram lançados no último ano, chegou a hora das montadoras investirem também no segmento de utilitários médios. O principal alvo do grupo de novos modelos da categoria é o líder de vendas, Jeep Compass.

Em 2020, devem chegar ao mercado o Tarek, da Volkswagen, o Territory, da Ford, e o Tiggo 8, da Caoa Chery. O primeiro é o SUV com mais possibilidades de fazer frente ao imenso volume de vendas do Compass.

Principalmente porque atuará em conjunto com o SUV médio que a VW já oferece no Brasil, o Tiguan (leia detalhes mais abaixo). O Tarek, que será feito na Argentina, é um dos produtos da linha de SUVs da Volkswagen que está em fase de lançamento no Brasil.

Por enquanto, vieram o compacto T-Cross e o Tiguan. Pelo menos outros dois SUVs estão planejados para os próximos anos.

  De acordo com rumores, o Tarek terá uma única versão de motor. Trata-se do 1.4 TFSI de 150 cv que também está em modelos como Jetta e T-Cross, da Volkswagen. O propulsor tem 150 cv.

Pouco para enfrentar a linha Compass, que tem motores flexível e a diesel? Pode ser, mas é aí que o modelo, que será posicionado abaixo do Tiguan, contará com a ajuda do irmão para tentar vencer o Jeep em ação conjunta (leia mais abaixo).

Caoa Chery Tiggo 8

A vantagem do Tiggo 8 ante o Tarek e, ao menos por ora, também em relação ao Compass, são os sete lugares. O SUV da Caoa Chery será feito em Anápolis (GO) e terá motor 1.6 turbo com injeção direta e 200 cv de potência.

O modelo também promete vir com uma tecnologia que está apenas em modelos bem mais caros: o reconhecimento facial.

O preço do modelo ficará entre R$ 130 mil e R$ 150 mil. Ele será o topo de linha da Caoa Chery no País.

  Ford Territory

O modelo da Ford virá inicialmente da China. Ele começa a ser vendido no Brasil no primeiro semestre de 2020. Antes, será mostrado ao público durante o festival Rock in Rio, ainda no fim deste mês (a Ford é patrocinadora do evento).

A vantagem do Territory ante o Compass poderá ser o preço. A Ford quer trazê-lo por volta de R$ 110 mil. O campeão de vendas dos SUVs médios parte de R$ 117 mil.

Detalhes sobre o modelo não foram confirmados, mas ele poderá trazer o motor 2.0 que era usado no Focus argentino, com 178 cv.

E, por falar em Argentina, a produção do Territory na fábrica da Ford do País vizinho está em estudo, mas para um segundo momento – possivelmente 2021.

Compass se prepara

A Jeep não está de braços cruzados diante da movimentação da concorrência. O Compass também terá novidades em breve.

Uma das mais esperadas é o motor turbo, que poderá substituir o 2.0 flexível. E não apenas no Compass; Jeep Renegade e Fiat Toro – também produzidos em Goiana (PE) – podem receber esse novo propulsor.

Há rumores também sobre o desenvolvimento de uma versão de sete lugares para o Compass.

História do Compass

Desde o seu lançamento, no final de 2016, o Compass mostrou às montadoras rivais que um SUV médio, se bem posicionado, pode vender tanto quanto um compacto. Ou até mais.

Em 2017 e 2018, o Compass liderou as vendas da categoria de SUVs, à frente de todos os compactos. Neste ano, está atrás apenas do Renegade.

Short of exporting yourself overseas to enjoy a Mercedes-Benz or a Jaguar with a stick shift or a Skoda wagon from the Czech Republic, there are exceptions: Some models older than 25 years, with their original engines, may be allowed in. Of course, buyers must pay for shipping, as in by ship.

Enthusiasts who scour the internet might find a car overseas that had been built to conform to United States regulations, but the choices will most likely be limited. And if you’re considering one of the European delivery programs offered by some carmakers, be aware that those vehicles are basically no different from the models those brands sell in the States; the main benefit is that vacationers can arrange to drive their new vehicles for a set period in Europe before it is sent home, and save on the high cost of a rental car overseas.

For people determined to take a shot at importing a car, a comprehensive guide is published by the Customs and Border Protection agency.

And if you fall in love with those Audi Avants you can no longer buy in America, don’t take it personally. “From a business point of view, the U.S. market simply does not support bringing them here,” said Mark Dahncke, a spokesman for Audi of America. “We do continually evaluate our product portfolio to see whether it makes sense to bring them back. We’ll keep trying.”

Quattro all-wheel drive is baked into the RS4. If you think wagons aren’t sexy, this one’s an eye-opener.

Subaru Levorg. Almost the whole world gets this wagon-esque model, essentially a version of the WRX sedan that is sold in the States. In typical Subaru fashion, the Levorg isn’t quite sleek (a popular joke not long ago was that Subaru designers worked out of a dungeon), but it is a powerful hauler, especially attractive now that the company no longer offers the practical hatchback WRX in the United States. All-wheel drive is standard, and some Levorgs can churn out 300 horsepower. The name, by the by, stands for “LEgacy eVOlution touRinG.” Of course.

Alfa Romeo Giulia, manual transmission. We know the stick shift is a dying breed in the United States, and it’s clear that take rates on sticks are dropping in Europe as well. But there remain a few examples available overseas — from Jaguar, Mercedes and BMW, among others. We’d choose the Alfa Giulia with its six-speed manual. VW T-Roc R. I fell in love with the T-Roc when I first saw it, in blazing tangerine paint, at the Frankfurt motor show a couple of years ago. Sitting on a show floor overloaded with bulbous crossovers and S.U.V.s, the T-Roc (terrible name) was special. Now comes the high-performance R version: 296 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, slightly more than what the Golf R hatch makes in the United States. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic is standard, as is all-wheel drive. Bet five bucks the T-Roc will never be photographed under the Brooklyn Bridge, although VW says it will introduce a subcompact crossover, slotted below the Tiguan, in America in 2020.

Lotus Elise. A British sports car? There has to be one on this list. While some models from this classic British brand are available in the United States, including the Evora, the hyper-lightweight Elise has been off limits for us for several years because it doesn’t comply with airbag rules, among other safety standards. Volkswagen terá três modelos de baixo custo com chinesa FAW

A Volkswagen está preparando o lançamento de uma submarca de carros baratos para a China. Serão lançados inicialmente três modelos, sendo um sedã compacto, um SUV compacto e um SUV médio. Documentos revelam que estes produtos são identificados como VA3, VS5 e VS7, respectivamente. O nome da marca ainda não foi revelado, mas seu aparente logotipo é um “V” largo com corte na lateral esquerda.

Dos três, dois serão lançados ainda em 2019, ficando o terceiro para 2020. Estima-se que o hatch VA3 custe a partir de 58 mil yuans ou algo em torno de R$ 31,7 mil. Já o utilitário esportivo VS5 deve partir de 110 mil yuans (R$ 59,5 mil), ficando o maior VS7 em torno de 180 mil yuans (R$ 97,4 mil).
