Travel to Amsterdam and the nearby locations.
The dutch windmills of Zaanse Schans. North Holland's Amsterdam region has a lengthy and fascinating history that reaches back to the late 12th century. The area, which is found in the western portion of the Netherlands, consists of a number of tiny towns and villages, including Marken, Hoorn, and Volendam.
Amsterdam, the nation's capital and largest city, began as a modest fishing community on the banks of the Amstel River in the late 12th century. By the 14th century, it had become a significant commercial and shipping hub after expanding quickly in size and significance. Due to its advantageous location at the meeting point of three significant canals, the city quickly established itself as a major trading center for items including wool, grain, and textiles.
The history of the Amsterdam area also included significant contributions from other villages and towns. In the Middle Ages, Marken, a small island in the Markermeer lake, was a well-liked fishing community. It was a significant hub for trade and commerce and was noted for producing salt and herring.
During the 16th and 17th centuries, Hoorn, a town close to Amsterdam, played a vital role as a harbor. It served as a crucial hub for the Dutch East India Company, which was in charge of establishing trade routes with the East Indies. Hoorn's reputation as a hub of trade and culture was also influenced by the wealthy merchants and shipbuilders who called the area home. Cape Horn is named after this Dutch city.
The fishing sector has traditionally been centered in Volendam, a little fishing community on the shores of the Markermeer lake. The village's attractive harbors, which are home to a fleet of little fishing boats, and traditional Dutch architecture are among its most notable features.
Due to its importance as a hub of trade and business, the Amsterdam region of North Holland has a long and varied history. Amsterdam has grown from a modest fishing village to a big city with a rich cultural legacy and a thriving economy. Marken, Hoorn, and Volendam, three nearby villages and towns that have played significant roles in the history of the area, are still well-liked travel and tourism attractions.
The Amsterdam canals are an Unesco World Heritage site worth visiting. And if you have the opportunity a tour around the area is more than worth the time.

Oh boy these are some good questions!
16. which stereotype about your country you hate the most and which one you somewhat agree with?
I honestly haven't a clue where to start with the stereotypes because I don't know how we are perceived at all. Every time there is a Dutch person in a TV show American (for example) they're German. Their accent is actually a poorly done German accent???? I guess, based on that, what I hate the most is the 'Dutch is basically German' statement.
Also, we are not all stoners!!! (but I am🤫)
We do bike a lot (i got drenched going to uni this morning by bike for example) and we, especially students and younger people, split the bill a lot of the time.
24. what other nation is joked about most often in your country?
The Belgians for sure. There is this stereotype/joke that they're dumb (which i don't agree with nor do i like those jokes). Also, we joke a lot about their roads being shitty (they're not that bad, but the second you cross the border you do feel the difference lol)
29. does your region/city have a beef with another place in your country?
UHHH, don't know if the city i live in right now has beef with other cities besides football rivalries but:
Volendam and Urk are our 'incest villages', with Urk also being very traditional.
Everyone hates Almere
The province of Drenthe isn't real

Caption: SCHOOL CHILDREN OR MARKEN ISLAND
Booklet Description: 6 MARKEN ISLAND is a Protestant village; the costumes worn here are more colorful than those worn in Volendam. Once Marken was an island of fishermen catching the "gold of the Zuider Zee." Then the old salt arm of the sea was closed, becoming a fresh water lake. Only the flounders survived, and the fishing declined. Young flounders were admitted through the sea wall gate to replenish the fishing grounds, and eels by the millions made IJsel Meer their home. Fishing is now as good as it was in the salt-water days.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our time in Holland, despite the rain. After getting oversold on transit tickets we made our way to our AirBnB outside the city center in Katwoude. We had dinner that evening in a restaurant nearby at the marina. The kids then enjoyed running home after dinner in what was by then a light rain. The next day we put on our rain jackets to tour the city on tandem bikes. These were a lot of fun. Stopped for a needed break to watch different countries performing dance? in the Volendam Park. This is a lovely park. Performances were a little odd but the kids enjoyed them and Matt and I enjoyed the break. Jonah was excited to use one of the street urinals. The next day we all had our own bikes while we stayed out of the city biking through small fishing villages, visiting a cheese/dairy farm (which was very impressive in how automated it was to the point that the cows entered the milking area when they wished and were then milked without any human interaction in the entire process) taking a boat ride with our bikes onto windmills and home. Raincoats again were needed. Our last day we headed back into the city to visit the science museum, (thankful that this should be the last science museum of this trip) which the kids again loved. Took a break from the museum to go watch the canal pride parade that was taking place. Starting point was right by the museum. We returned to the museum just as the rain was starting up and remained there until it had cleared. Then took the tram for a ride before walking back to the train station to catch our bus home. The post pride parade parties were happening all over town. The streets were busy! Kids took a quick dip on our return home that evening. Woke up this morning happy that today was a travel day as it has been raining solidly all morning. We are all excited to be heading south to Paris where the forecast is dry and not too hot until our last day.

Netherlands 🇳🇱 A country in northwestern Europe, is known for a flat landscape of canals, tulip fields, windmills and cycling routes. Amsterdam, the capital, is home to the house where Jewish diarist Anne Frank hid during WWII, canalside mansions and a trove of works from artists from the city's 17th-century "Golden Age." Amsterdam is known for its artistic heritage, elaborate canal system and narrow houses with gabled facades. Its Museum District houses the Van Gogh Museum, works by Rembrandt and Vermeer at the Rijksmuseum, and modern art at the Stedelijk. Cycling is key to the city’s character, and there are numerous bike paths. It’s also the birth place of Heineken. Zaanse Schans is a neighborhood in the Dutch town of Zaandam, near Amsterdam. Historic windmills and distinctive green wooden houses were relocated here to recreate the look of an 18th/19th-century village. The Zaans Museum has regional costumes, model windmills and interactive exhibits on chocolate making. Artisan workshops demonstrate rare handicrafts such as wooden clog carving, barrel making and pewter casting. Edam is a town in the northwest Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. Edam is famous as the original source of the cheese with the same name. Combined with Volendam, Edam forms the municipality of Edam-Volendam. Volendam is a Dutch town on the Markermeer Lake, northeast of Amsterdam. It’s known for its colorful wooden houses and the old fishing boats in its harbor, which is lined with seafood vendors. Marken is a village in the municipality of Waterland in the province of North Holland, Netherlands. It is a peninsula in the Markermeer and was, until 1957, an island in the former Zuiderzee. The characteristic wooden houses of Marken are a tourist attraction. Keukenhof, also known as the Garden of Europe, is one of the world's largest flower gardens, situated in the municipality of Lisse, in the Netherlands. According to the official website, Keukenhof Park covers an area of 32 hectares and approximately 7 million flower bulbs are planted in the gardens annually. (at Netherlands)

Romanticizing the amazing country of Netherlands!
Tumblr media
Oh, Netherlands! How can I not be in love in its wonders? Everything seems so perfect --- the environment, the people, the food and so much moreee...
Tumblr media
People would go to Netherlands because of Amsterdam to be specific, but for me, there are variety of reasons and cities around Netherlands that will take your breath away.
I love crepe. It is my comfort food every time I am in a trip abroad or I would just love to unwind here in the Philippines. I tell you that European crepes are the best that I've ever tasted! (I also love crepes in Eurasia, that's in Armenia to be specific! Well, that's another story to tell.)
During my visit here in Roermond, Netherlands, I just ordered another crepe and I rode the Ferris Wheel there alone. I enjoy my own company. I tell you I know that this is just temporary and I am definitely enjoying this season.
One of the best shopping outlets in Europe is located here in Roermond, Netherlands --- the Designer Outlet Roermond.
So, if you love to shop and also fond of discounts, there are stores there that you can visit. For me, you need many hours here if you are a shopaholic. In fact, there are some stores that are offering huge discounts that you will not find in the Philippines
Tumblr media
Indeed, Netherlands has a beautiful sky, rich history and unique culture. It is also the home to some of the famous museum.
Zaandam is the city here where you can see the iconic windmills. I love the view there. It was so relaxing.
Tumblr media
If you have time, add Cheese and Clog Factory in your itinerary because you will be amazed on how the cheese are being processed and how clogs are made. There is a live demonstration here and I truly enjoyed and learned new things during the visit.
Tumblr media
Volendam is the fishing village here in Netherlands. It has many wooden houses that are picture perfect for you. Or maybe, just walking around the beautiful village will definitely complete your European vacation.
Tumblr media
And of course, don't forget to visit the famous RED LIGHT DISTRICT because it was worth exploring. I think do not leave Netherlands without investing in this once in a lifetime experience. It is also a great place for night life with plenty of bar and clubs to choose from.
I am not a party person but I am in my YOLO (You Only Live Once) moment. So, come on, don't hesitate to try this activity.
Tumblr media
As a tourist, you must also go to the country's Peace Palace. This is located in the Hague.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, please have your time to see the Mauritshius, the most beautiful museum in The Hague.
Tumblr media
Actually, one of my bucket lists is to be able to cycle around Netherlands but I only took a photo opportunity with the bike here. I've posted a photo blog post about that before. Probably, someday that dream will come true!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hello Rotterdam, Netherlands!
Tumblr media
Super cute Rotterdam Cube Houses as you can see in the photo below! I love Europe because of its architecture and this cube houses will define how wonderful achitecture is.
Tumblr media
I am actually in love with the beauty of Amsterdam. I also enjoyed the Lover's Canal Cruise. It is an almost one hour boat ride where in you will be truly overjoyed in the city's majestic canals. There is an audio guide during the canal cruise that you can listen for free or you can just have some talks with your friends, whichever you prefer is up to your decision. I am sure you will enjoy it if you try this activity.
Explore Netherlands!
Tumblr media
youtube
And, when the right time comes my dear reader, Meet Me in AMSTERDAM!
Tumblr media
P.S. I hope that I can witness the country's amazing Tulips season in God's time!
Love lots, A 💞

21. The Netherlands
Following the tricolor of the Dutch flag, this look takes direct inspiration from traditional attire worn by sailors in the fishing village of Volendam in the 1900s, which featured wide legged trousers, designed to fill with air and provide buoyancy if one fell overboard. The look though following the tricolor of the Dutch flag, features a hint of orange which is a significant part of Dutch history, which can be traced all the way back to the Dutch royal family. The colors historical popularity is said to have been was popularized by Willem the Silent, and was even one of the three colors in the original Dutch flag.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
22. The Philippines
This look takes inspiration from the color and design of the flag of the Philippines as well as the colors. It takes stylistic inspiration from the baro’t saya, which is a traditoinal ensemble worn by women in the Philippines.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
23. Sweden
This look focuses mainly on emulating the flag of Sweden as closely as possible.
Tumblr media
24. This look follows the design of the South Korean flag and takes inspiration from modern Korean fashion.
Tumblr media
25. Kenya
Inspired by the design of the Kenyan flag, this look utilizes a white necklace and a white top to break up the colors green red and black as it does on the flag
Tumblr media
26. Spain
This look features a cropped jacket and slim trousers, in the Spanish colors and takes direct inspiration from the “traje de luces”, which are the traditional garments that Spanish bullfighters wear in action.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
1. Morocco
Wanting to emulate the long and graceful silhouette of the Moroccan Djellaba, this look features a long scarf over the shoulder to complete an all red look with a hint of green, akin to that of the Moroccan flag.
Tumblr media
2. Jamaica
This look takes direct inspiration from the design of the Jamaican flag as well as the colors.
Tumblr media
3. USA
The classic red white and blue, with classic denim. The look itself is “Made in America” as it features American icons such as Ralph Lauren, and nephew Greg Lauren, as well as one of the most iconic American brands, Coach. The look also contains accessories from Chrome Hearts as well as a hint of the Brooklyn Based streetwear brand Kidsuper.
Tumblr media
4. Mexico
This look takes inspiration from the traditional charro suit, which is a type of suit originally worn by the horsemen of the Charrería, and often associated with the Mariachi. The look also features two rings in the shape of a skull, refrencing the Mexian skull, the Calavera, which represents death and rebirth and is a symbol of Mexican holiday “el Día de los Muertos” , the Day of the Dead.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5. France
This look Features French Fashion giants Balmain, Louis Vuitton, and Hermès, the latter responsible for arguably the most popular designer bag of all time, the Birkin. This look Features the iconic Haut à Courroies 50 in Crocodile, one of the most coveted and financially consuming bags from the legendary french house.
Tumblr media
6. Italy
Inspired by classic Italian menswear, this look features Italian fashion giants, Giorgio Armani, Brunello Cucinelli, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Ermenegildo Zegna whilst incorporating the colors of the Italian flag.
Tumblr media
7. Palestine
Initially the idea was to create a look drawing inspiration from a traditional Palestinian garment called a Thawb, a long ankle length garment, which is typically long sleeved. Upon my research I discovered hundreds of Palestinian athletes had been killed recently amongst the atrocities ongoing in Gaza. Understanding the strength and courage it would take to perform at a world stage given a genocide in ones own country, I wanted to make a look that feels like a human embodiment of the flag itself but most importantly, I wanted something that felt beautiful and free.
Tumblr media
8. Canada
Consisting of popular Canadian brands Dquared2 and Canada goose, this look takes direct inspiration of the Canadian flag design, down to the squared brooch in the center of the vest. Stylistically, something you’d want to wear during a Canadian winter.

If ever these waiting lips, Touch softly your face; Leaving a trail of passion, Time never will erase. They have waited so long, Hungered for your touch; Ached with anticipation, Wanting you so much. If ever these empty arms, Be filled with loving you; You'll never want another, Each time will be brand new. I have waited for so long, Longed to feel your touch; Ached with anticipation, Wanting you so much. If ever these hands of mine, Across your body linger; You'll know the heat of desire, With the touch of every finger. They have waited for so long, Hungered for your touch; Ached with anticipation, Wanting you so much. If ever should my body, Lay touching yours alone; As we explore each other, Like two souls coming home. I have waited for so long, Longed so for your touch; Ached with burning anticipation, Wanting you so much. ~ #cobblestone #street #village #homes #sky #clouds #storm #lightning #thunder #LetsGetLost #ComeExplore #AllWhoWander #Volendam #Netherlands #Holland #Amsterdam #BlackAndWhite #BNW #PoemOfTheDay #poetry #📝📆 #PictureOfTheDay #PhotoOfTheDay #📷📆 #CTSelf (at Volendam) https://www.instagram.com/p/CdDX-mEO7nz/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Caption: SUNDAY PARADE IN COSTUME OF VOLENDAM
Booklet Description: 5 THE VOLENDAM COSTUME is the one most familiar to foreigners, and is often mistaken for the national dress. This is not true. Each village that clings to its past has its own traditional costume. Those in the know can not only tell where a woman lives by her clothing, but whether she is a Catholic or a Protestant, married or single. Volendam is Catholic.
