Thank you to @meganwhalenturner for inspiring me to get back into embroidery! I have had the mountains on this piece done for at least a year and got stuck, because (obviously) I am not good at embroidering words. But I wanted a quote from the books to put on my wall, and this was the best way to do it.

I could apologize for this not being very good but instead I will insist that it is a stylistic choice and I definitely did it on purpose!!!

Home Planet Outfits

Designer’s notes

Dogday’s planet, Soleana, is a very arid and warm planet with beaches, their clothes are essentially meant to keep them fresh but also protecting them from the hot sun they worship.

Catnap’s planet, Lunaris, is a planet with many moons and in perpetual darkness, because of it, they often wear clothes made of cotton, meant to be comfortable and easy to sleep on, as you can see, the citizens of Lunaris are perpetually sleepy.

Hoppy’s planet, Relanpago, is a planet buzzing with electricity and life, however the citizens are naturally immune to the electrical currents of the planet.

Crafty’s planet, Prismascope, is a planet filled with colors, and because of it, it is natural for the citizen’s outfits to be darker, allowing embroideries, flowers, or other jewelries to really shine through.

Picky’s planet, Colheita, is a planet known for its boundless agriculture and culinary wonders, the leading planet in culinary cultures across the galaxies. They wear easily washable clothes as sometimes cooking can be messy.

Bubba’s planet, Padma, is a planet known for its leading technological and intelligence advances. Their national flower, the Lotus, is shown everywhere, including clothes and even tattoos. Inhabitants with said Lotus tattoos are known to have been blessed by the goddess they worship.

Kickin’s planet, Pyroma, is a planet that thrives with their ring of fires, because of it, their clothes often reflect the fiery colors of a volcano. They’re also fire resistant.

Bobby’s planet, Corazon, is a planet of eternal spring, so inhabitant often wear comfortable and loose outfits.

nightwing funeral headcanons!

in darkstalker’s time, the dead had their eyes wrapped in a black cloth with silver embroidery. seers had an eye in the center with a moon pupil, mind readers had a moon in the center and two stars near their eyes, and the imperial had a lantern with a moon in it. dragons born under multiple moons had some combination, and would have the number of moons. non-blessed dragons have the constellation they were born under. the bodies would then be burned, to release the spirit to the stars.

on the volcano, dead dragons were thrown into the lava.

in the rainforest, glory gave them a place to burn their dead. they began making the constellation shrouds after they found documents about it in the old night kingdom.

It feels like none of my fics are really going anywhere at the moment because my writing energy keeps fizzling out (and this is really, deeply frustrating to me but that's another and whinier post probably!) so the 'in progress' part of 'WIP' might be a bit generous here but technically! Technically, here's a thing I am working on.

This is a Rings of Power one-shot, Celeborn x Galadriel x Halbrand-still-trying-not-to-get-found out. I think this is going to wind up too short to really get into backstory but in my head: s1 volcano does not explode as badly(?), King Halbrand of the Southlands thinks yay success everything's great now I can live happily after with my beautiful elf queen -> Galadriel gradually gets more and more suspicious over the next few ?decades? about who he actually is, because he keeps doing things like 'not ageing' and 'talking to Wargs in Black Speech' and so on -> eventually Halbrand disappears for a while and comes back with Celeborn, like "well would Sauron bring you back your lost other husband, no I didn't think so, okay I have proved I'm good now you have to stop looking at me like that."

The third summer passes quietly, calm as a whisper.  Celeborn is better used to Pelargir’s heat now. Here, this afternoon, the city itself seems asleep; even Galadriel lies with her head in his lap here in the sun-drenched courtyard, half-dozing as he plays with her hair.  A lizard darts across the stone before them, a fast twist of green against the stone. It freezes when it sees Halbrand. “See,” Celeborn says, “even the lizards don’t trust you.” “I don’t put much faith in the judgement of lizards.” The lizard blinks, once, then again. Then it turns and sprints back into the shelter of the vines. “Anyway,” Halbrand says, settling down beside them, “I’m sure you have better reasons to trust me than the lizard does. I didn’t travel all the way to Rhûn to find the lizard and bring it home the way I did for you, did I?” “I’ll grant you that.” “I won’t,” Galadriel says. She doesn’t rise but she turns in Celeborn’s lap so that she’s lying looking up at both of them. Celeborn traces the curve of the fine braid that Halbrand had woven into her hair earlier; his are always these intricate detailed designs, better suited for embroidery or jewelsmithing and yet in their own way perfect for her.

Rykard had the forget tonic on hand for tanith when he went silly mode. Do you think he got it from perfumers, from carian preceptors, was it inquisition inventory as a wellness tool, or something else

I’ve always wondered this! I think my best guess as to where it came from would be the perfumers… before the shattering, they were apothecaries and healers, and in a way, the tonic of forgetfulness can be seen as a balm for the mind. However, if this tonic came from a perfumer, it would have had to be before Rykard’s treason — the perfumers are proud of their Erdtree loyalty and wear that symbol on their aprons! In this case, perhaps it could have been a tool for inquisitors to forget the horrific sights of torture and the screams of their victims??

There’s another option, though… it could have also come from a depraved perfumer. These guys are said to be “heresy-inclined” — “The embroidery on the apron is itself a curse upon the Erdtree.” Their aprons are decorated with serpents, seen as traitors to the Erdtree. Depraved perfumers are also said to “imbibe their own spices to alter body and mind,” and you could definitely say that the tonic of forgetfulness alters the mind… even though I said earlier that it could be seen as a balm to the mind, I also think there’s something kinda nefarious about wiping your memory (or rather, someone else’s… looking at you, Tanith) in order to banish distress. So given the whole heresy and serpents thing, it seems like depraved perfumers would be likely to hang around Rykard... and as a matter of fact, they did! We can find Depraved Perfumer Carmaan’s spirit ashes in a Volcano Manor room. Carmaan could’ve made the tonic, but his description also says that “depraved perfumers practice their art for themselves alone” so it doesn’t seem likely that he or another would’ve made the tonic on Rykard’s behalf. Unless he killed Carmaan and stole it off his corpse and that’s why his ashes are stuffed in a guest room

The Akuma Class heard tales of Mme. Bustier’s crazy field trips years back, and had no idea what they were getting themselves into

One time, when Nathaniel was ten, she let him drive Bus during a field trip. It freaked her students out, and they were clawing at the windows

Nino: Hey, as long as we don't crash into another volcano, I'm fine.

Nathaniel: *Behind the wheel* Buckle up, bitches! We're going in Moby Dick!

Nathaniel: I need the practice. Now, are the brakes on the left, or the right?... Oh, well! I'll figure it out.

Mme. Bustier: Exactly. Mistakes are how we learn and grow as individuals. *Puts on a helmet* Step on it, sweetie!

Marinette is desperately trying to learn how Mme. Bustier and Nathaniel get the embroidery and prints on their clothes to move

Most of the field trip suggestions come from Adrien, who wasn’t expecting school to be this fun! He wants to go in Sherlock Holmes, and no one can stop him!

One time, they traveled back to the 90s, and things got wild when they ran into a certain someone

Nine People I’d Like to Know Better, tagged by @its-sorcery <3

Last song I listened to: “Young Volcanoes” by Fall Out Boy because I am going through their Spotify and adding songs to my Liked Songs playlist, and yes, that one got liked :)

Currently watching: House of the Dragon, which is on a once-a-week schedule, which is a refreshing change. Love having something to look forward to. The show itself is…fine.

I am also watching any and all standup comedy shows on HBO Max because I am at that point in The Sads where I turn to standup. Seriously, if you ever want to know whether it’s Gotten Bad, just see if I am watching standup. (If I am watching Dylan Moran for the tenth time then that’s Defcon 1.)

Sweet/savory/spicy: Sour! Where is the love for sour?! Oh sour, my beloved. But if I can only pick from those three then I guess my having inhaled a spicy chili party mix bag yesterday answers that question. (Wasn’t even spicy spicy.)

Relationship status: In multiple loving friendships <3 (But yeah as single as a period. Not even a colon. Or, dare I hope, an ellipsis.)

Current obsession: Planet of the Apes babyyyy. Kingdom of the PotA has been promised to come on streaming this month and I am so ready. (I am also reading All the Novels, prequels and novelizations alike.)

Aside from that, The Sads has been dulling everything a little so my usual Write All the Things obsession has withered to a husk, and my God I Hate It experience with my latest embroidery is taking all the fun out of there, so we are…light on obsessions lately.
