realizing now that i was playing Splasher in my high school's production of Newsies (I think that's the second Scab??)

idk anything abt the real Splasher (like strictly outta the production or movie) but I'd like to think they're as snippy and finicky as mine was during StD

The place you called home felt empty, quiet, voided. It had become a shell of itself ever since you were the only one stepping through the threshold at night. Some days you couldn’t even bear to come back to the small and cozy apartment because it meant you’d be sleeping another night alone. It wasn’t that you couldn’t handle being on your own, it was more so about the constant reminders of him that these four walls held.

You loved the memories you created with Chan, the good, the bad, all of it. But maybe you loved them to a fault. Too much to the point where you can’t stay while he was away. Maybe that was another flaw of yours; depending on him so much. It couldn’t be helped though. That’s just the kind of love you two shared. Chan loved to be needed by you, and you loved to need him. Honestly, it was a dangerous game to play considering his job and now you were paying the price for it.

A heavy sigh left your chest as you entered the darkened apartment. This was the first time you’d been back in three days: opting to stay with your best friend to avoid coming back home. Home? No, your home was gone, he was out traveling the world for the next six months on another world tour. This place was simply a shelter while Chan was away. Nonetheless, you had to face the reality, he had already been gone for a month and you still hadn’t gotten yourself into a routine to make the quiet, well, less quiet.

You made your way into the bedroom and stared at the bed where he normally slept. The sight of the empty space made your heart clench and pull out your phone to stare at the lockscreen of you two. It was a photo of you both laughing together at the beach that was taken on a trip while visiting his family. He had you wrapped up in his arms and his nose was all crinkled with laugh lines, you could still hear his little squeaky laugh playing in your head. If only you could actually hear it again right now. Maybe you should call him?

Your thumb hovered over Chan’s contact debating on if it was a good idea or not. It felt like an hour passed before you finally decided against it, you didn’t want to bother him. He’s probably busy, besides he said he’d call when he had the time. Chan always called, in fact, you spoke with him this morning, but now that you were back in the bedroom you two shared the need to hear his voice became overwhelming.

Dammit, when did you get so clingy? You shook your head to steel your resolve. You’ve gotta get it together if you’re going to get through half a year with Chan being on tour. Just one step at a time, you thought to yourself while entering the attached bathroom. A shower should do you some good.

The water cascading down your body felt heavenly, you hadn’t even noticed how tense your muscles had gotten before the warmth and steam enveloped you. When you had turned to grab the body wash your eyes landed on the half empty Lush bottle on the shelf, it was one of Chan’s favorite scents. A pout formed on your lips when you opened the bottle and inhaled, it smelled just like him. It sent a rush of mixed feelings through you, the smell of him making you think he was so close, yet he was still so far. You lathered the soap all over your body savoring the smell of Chan flooding your senses. Maybe this would end up becoming your favorite scent too.

Eventually, the water ran cold after spending such a long time in the shower. You were trying to soak up every second possible in your makeshift Channie scented sauna. You continued with the theme of ‘Chan-ifying’ yourself by spritzing a bit of his cologne on your neck and even putting on one of his black t-shirts to sleep in. Anything to make the illusion of him last a little bit longer.

Your mood had been content until you had slipped into his side of the bed, then the weight of how much you missed Chan hit you. You buried your face into his pillow and a whine left your throat as your eyes watered. There was nothing more you could do besides face the emotion of missing the love of your life. It’d get easier as time went on, it had to, right?

Just as a pitiful sob was about to make its escape, your phone began ringing. It was like your whole world lit up again when you saw his contact flashing across the screen. You answered the video call without a second thought. The lazy smile on Chan’s face instantly warmed your heart.

And for a little while, you felt at home again.

i know 'video game lady sameface' is not a new gripe by any means but i cant get over how blatant it is on this war within promo art. for anyone not familiar with warcraft this looks like the 'i can be yuor angle or yuor devil' meme of the same character and it's not. i also love that they couldn't actually overlap the faces here because it would otherwise be giving warcraft 3 arthas implying they are the same person (which, again, they are not, not even in a 4d chess conspiracy theory way; if anything xal'atath designed herself after the npc inanis, chronicler of whispers, rather than alleria).

even sylvanas on the book cover looks more like two different women than xal'atath and alleria do in the promo art above (and hilariously these are all three different elves. one of which is not actually an elf. and alleria and sylvanas are sisters... oogh). also not sure why they went with the hyper-youthful redesign for alleria, the oldest windrunner sister stuck in some kind of ten thousand year interdimensional time loop fighting demons while maybe 20 years went by on azeroth, who is now constantly grappling with the whispers of the void. like maybe she can look a little haggard. maybe she doesn't need to look like a scrappy teenager in the key art

why did they moe-ify her

like maybe it's because i'm in my mid-30s now but like, on one hand, yes sombra overwatch can be 30 and look like that because women don't automatically become decrepit once they exit their twenties. but also maybe we should not be afraid of women who are literally tens of thousands of years old having gone through trauma after trauma (and in some cases literal death and decay) looking a teensy bit cooked. like why are the circles under jaina's eyes darker than sylvanas', who has the tears of anguish of undeath literally scarred into her face and has lived jaina's lifespan ten times over

I've said it on Twitter but no one follows me there so I'll scream in the void here as well ✨

If you are a Dimension 20 Burrow's End TM enjoyer and particularly if you love Jasper's performance as Thorn (and honestly, who wouldn't), do me a favour and go listen to Three Black Halflings, the ttrpg podcast hosted by Jasper along with Jeremy Cobb and Olivia Kennedy (but you can call her Liv!). Just trust me on this one, I need more people to get into 3BH immediately, they are amazing!

Their episodes are very varied, with one of the main focus being diversity in d&d/ttrpgs on all fronts. They are some of the most fun, insightful and creative people in this space! They have important, deep conversations with many incredibly talented folks, with an attention to inclusion of a diverse array of creators from minorities and marginalized backgrounds. They have multiple awesome campaigns that will make you cry and laugh at once (and you'll get more of Jasper's incredible roleplay, along with so many talented guests (Emily included, she's a guest for a few episodes on Outlaw and Obelisks, their post-apocalyptic western inspired campaign)). They try out different systems and new ttrpgs, but also discuss d&d with class dives and news episodes.

They have interviews with many people: to mention a few from d20 we're talking Bennan, Lou, Murph, Emily, Zac, Ify, Carlos, Gabe, Erika, Persephone, B.Dave, Krystina, Amy, Matt and Aabria at various times, but also people from the rest of Naddpod, Transplanar RPG, Oxventure, Dicebreaker and other cool spaces!

Not strictly related, but Jasper was also the first (and only, I think?) guest DM on Naddpod, I think his Potcedonia two-shot is some of the most fun content out there!

Scugs! Scugs!

Scug-ified Noon and Hollow as requested by @doot-slayer-scp666. I had a lot of fun with those.

SO I liked the idea of them being slugcats, created by their respective higher beings iterators for a specific purpose.

Noon aka Scholar was a failed attempt by an iterator (the Radiance) to transport her consciousness into another vessel. He is still tightly connected to her, as seen by his special mark of communication in the shape of a crown. Completely useless in combat, Scholar compensates by being able to detect enemies over greater distances thanks to his antennae. He can also double jump and hover for a limited time with his little wings, but doing so too much makes him tired. He gets his name because he can read the writing of the ancients and even decode the pearls to a limited degree.

Hollow aka Knight (might be stealing the name from their little sibling here lol) was in turn created by PK to destroy Radi, because her experiments were wreaking havoc on the world around her. They are a strange, unstable being, threatening to lose their corporeal form if not maintained by the life energy of others. I imagine their gameplay would be somewhat similar to the spear master, where they get energy from striking other creatures. The mask they carry is a focus for their form, if dropped they begin to lose energy and destabilise, causing void tendril-like damage around them.

For @capybonara's Legend of OC-Tober! Threw together some quick refs for my main trio LoZ OCs! They are triplets. From left to right Vaati (he/him, yes, Vaati is not technically an OC but I OC-ified him for botw), Wendy (they/them), and Crystalline (they/them). Colors are pretty loose, outfits are the in-game ones for Yiga armor, Kakariko (general), and Sheikah armor.

Loosely, these three were prophesized children that foretold the return of Link the hero, as well as having their own purpose to serve around the defeat of Calamity Canon. Vaati specifically was regarded as the Cursed Child for his purple skin, and shunned by a great deal of the village. Impa raised the three of them and did little to discourage this, though she did not outright kick him out of the village.

Wendy specializes in Sheikah Tech and ancient ruins, and Crystalline is one of the top Sheikah skill wise in the village. Vaati runs off to the Yiga Clan eventually. Both of his siblings chase after him regularly and he always escapes from them without hurting them and frequently in Wendy's case keeping them from harm. All three of them possess some level of powers relating to Void (my own conception) and Light, due to descending from a different OC and Rauru (that's a whole thing to get into lol).

Ultimately, all three of them run from destiny and leave the village. In the end, Wendy and Crystalline play a pivotal role in resurrecting the champions (CHAMPIONS LIVE AU) and helping Link defeat Calamity Ganon, while Vaati almost gets himself killed in the pursuit of power. The three of them are reunited, and reforge their bond stronger than ever after years of separation from Vaati.

They also have their own things going on in totk but let's call it good for this post ;)
